But, overtime, he becomes dependent on your attention. He secretly follows you places without you knowing

Treats you like glass. Is super afraid to hurt you

Which results in babying you to the extreme. Basically deludes himself into believing you can't do anything by yourself

If he needs to go anywhere(like patrol or something) he has one of his brother's watch you

If you ever escape, he's sent into a rampage that not even his brother's can tame

"Hun, where are you? You're freakin' me out!"

Overall, he's very suffocating, but he means well... if locking you away in the sewers is your definition of well

Leo

Manipulative + Dependent

Master of mind games

He won't admit it, but he feels useless

So, to make himself feel better, he makes himself useful... by making you feel helpless

The reason he manipulates is because he want's you to see him as your knight in shining armor

Anything could trigger an obsession. Likely some kind of heart-to-heart interaction

If you're someone who isn't manipulated easily, he will up the ante

I imagine he'd snap if he found out one of your friends had a thing for you

He's 100% killing your friend

Then he's coming to your house to whisk you away

Don't bother trying to hide. He'll find you

Poor Othello Von Ryan felt that his inventions weren't enough for his family(but he would never admit that)

He rarely shows emotion. But when he's alone, a dark voice drives him mad with horrible thoughts

In the episode Battle Nexus New York Donnie expresses that he likes Chess calling it ‘his domain’

Donnie: Scooch over Hypno, chess is my domain

Even before the episode Battle Nexus New York we had already seen that Donnie likes Chess as in the episode Mind Meld, Donnie gave his family Chess Code Names

Donnie: This is Purple Knight is everyone in position

Raph: Red King is set

Donnie: Orange Pawn please use your-

Mikey: What!? Why am I the pawn?

With the exception of Leo, the Turtles have been shown to have the habit of making code names based off of their own interests; Raph gives his family code names based off of song titles & Mikey has come up with multiple doctor personas so Donnie giving his family Chess Code Names due to his interest in Chess makes sense however Chess isn’t the only game of strategy that Donnie references when coming up with a different name for himself.

Donnie: Othello Von-Ryan! Maker, coder, artisan!

In the episode The Purple Jacket, Donnie introduces himself to the Purple Dragons as Othello Von Ryan & the reasoning for the name might not just be because Othello sound like Donatello but also because Othello is a popular game of strategy in Japan

The game Othello was patented in Japan back in the 1970′s & is a popular game of strategy to play, the game was so popular that Nintendo made Othello one of their first arcade games & many computer programs that can play the game Othello have been created.

Donnie might have chosen Othello as the name he gave to the Purple Dragons as a reference to the game Othello choosing a name based off a game of strategy similarly to how he gave his family Chess Code Names in the episode Mind Meld, meaning that Donnie likes to come up with code names based off of games that he likes to play.

Donatello Hamato was many things, an inventor, a scientist, and obviously a genius. So he would say it’s in his nature to be curious about the unknown. Now whether that unknown be of the scientific nature… or perhaps whatever it was that had your eyes glued to your screen for approximately one hour and twenty seven minutes..? Was there really a difference between the two? Donnie didn’t think so. Neither did his growing curiosity.

He had gotten halfhearted responses from you, like “yeahhh” and/or “cool Dee,” any time he tried to broach one of his latest and greatest projects. Usually you gave him your undivided attention and Donnie loved to just soak up your beautiful gaze. Sometimes he’d lose track if he glanced up into your eyes for too long, to which you would kindly tell him where he had left off.

So what was so important (on that stupid iphone 11 that could totally be upgraded by Othello Von Ryan himself if you ever let him) that you would dare ignore him for over an hour! In. His. Presence. He cleared his throat once more,

“Dearest? Are you listening?”

You didn’t glance up but you hummed in a tone that said, yes. Donnie narrowed his eyes. You were so absorbed you couldn’t even part those gorgeous orbs of yours off of your phone for a second? Just a tiny glance his way? He huffed, and pushed out of your chair. His usual spot when he came over was at your desk. You never really used it so Donnie had a few of his things there, it was like his own work place outside of his lab. He frequented this desk whenever you couldn’t make it to the lair.

He ventured to your bed, where you lay on your back, phone in front of your face unaware of your surroundings or your boyfriend.

“Then what did I just say?” Donnie challenged and you murmured something along the lines of “listening?” The purple turtle was quick to rephrase, “No, no! Earlier Y/n, my project!” He whined, getting a little desperate now for even just a crumb of your attention. Donatello watched with baited breath as you were as still as a statue. Eyes growing wider as you looked at your screen. A tiny smile forming on your face. Completely ignoring him. And that was Donnie’s breaking point.

One of his robo hands quickly unsheathed from his battle shell (yes he wore it everywhere) and snatched your phone right from under your nose. Funnily enough your hand was frozen in a state of holding the square device as you blinked and shock overcame your expression. And finally, finally, those eyes of yours met his. “Donnie!” You lurched forward almost falling out of your bed to reclaim your phone. “Yes darling?” Donnie feigned innocence as his robotic hand moved out of your reach. He smirked as he watched you steady yourself. You breathed in a quick breath.

“I was reading!” You said as if that explained everything and made grabby hands for him to return your technological property. “Must be pretty enthralling writing for you to ignore me, your handsome boyfriend!” Donnie sniffed and his metal hand moved to allow him to peer at your screen. It was like all hell broke loose, you screeched “No no no you can’t read it!!!”

Now as a full fledged nerd, he knew these were the telltale signs of someone reading something embarrassing.. and he deduced it was fan fiction. He may or may not have had his own similar experiences… Atomic Lass was his weakness. One that Leo loved to make fun of him for. “Well now I’m intrigued!” He saw you were using one of the main sites for such literature, ao3. His smirk only grew wider, “Doth mine eyes deceiveth me? Darling what are you reading hmmmm?” He continued to tease as his eyes roamed for more information. All the while ducking and dodging your mad grabs for your phone.

“Donald!!” You gave him your warning tone. But he didn’t care. You had ignored him for too long and if this is what it took to get your attention, by Newton he would do it! Plus, truly he wouldn’t shame you for your tastes in reading, it wasn’t like he was a pure soul when it came to reader x atomic lass..! “Let’s see,” Donnie cleared his throat dramatically and you audibly gasped thinking the worst: he was about to read aloud.

“I’ve waited all my life to find someone like you,” Donnie caught onto the scene and the emotion immediately growing more romantic (and dramatic). “You are the only one for me, in this life and all the rest! His hands unclenched from fists as he gently cupped your face-“

Donnie almost got a face full of pillow if a second robo arm hadn’t shot out to bat it away. He stole a glance up from your phone finding your face heated in a pretty blush, which only goaded Donnie to continue. “He only hesitated for a moment, looking into your eyes to find love and joy overflowing, he kissed you so heatedly, drawing out a—“

“DONATELLO!!!!!!!” You howled and finally snatched your phone away from his green grasp. Quickly closing your phone and the screen darkened. Donnie raised an unimpressed eyebrow, “That won’t stop a tech genius like moi” he said hand covering his chest. “Donnie!!” You exasperated, eyes pleading for him to stop the embarrassment. He threw in the metaphorical towel, robo arms hiding back in his shell as he sat down next to you on your bed. “Dearest you must know I read such things too,” he placated you, even though his cheeks felt warm admitting it out loud.

“So you must know how I feel!” You said insinuating that reading such private things aloud were a no-go. He sighed, “even amongst us?” You wavered and that was all it took. Donnie eagerly reached forward, wanting to prove to you that you needn’t be embarrassed.

“You are the only one for me,” he quoted from the dialogue he had just read earlier. His hands caressing your cheeks gently as he leaned forward. It wasn’t unusual for the two of you to touch/kiss/hug as was the customs of dating, but it may have been odd for Donnie to be the one to initiate. So you were in a sort of frozen state as his lips murmured, “in this universe, and all those after it. I am yours,” he put his own little spin on it and sealed such romantics with a soft kiss.

You were moving after that, he was rewarded with a shy smile and your lips chasing after his. Making the heated kiss from the story come to life. “Okay maybe I won’t be so embarrassed..” you admitted after the both of you pulled away. It was quiet for a moment and then you continued, “Now what was that about your project?” A twinkle in your eye told him that maybe you had been paying more attention to him than he originally thought!

“Welllll, since my darling one is oh-so curious!” Donnie winked, making you smile brighter. The two of you moved to lay back against your pillows and he restarted his speech from the beginning. Getting all excited and making lots of hand gestures, with his real and robo hands! You were attentive once more, on your side and eyes never leaving him. He maybe blanked a couple of times, truly he lost himself within your gaze. But that was okay, you knew exactly where he left off!

Not really an ask, just don't really post my art online much. However I bring a gift for you because chapters 22 - 26 have been both painful yet validating as a neurodivergent individual with diagnosed c-ptsd. I truly appreciate the representation being shown through the "Disaster Twins."

Also I feel like a song I'm beginning to heavily associate with LFLS Donatello Von Ryan is "Never Love an Anchor" by the Crane Wives. Seems like a good fit for a character who seems to feel so much and with such intensity internally, yet having no way to properly express it.

Again I have too many thoughts and feelings on the different traumas and dynamic of the twins. TOO MANY BECAUSE THE PSYCHOLOGY IS SO FASCINATING FOR THESE TWO VERY HURT BOIS!!! The fact that Draxum insinuated that Donnie wanted to fix Leo as well and how "Green" seems to see the ASL lessons as further proof of that, along with Donnie confessing to Raph that there is something broken within him...ya just know Donnie finding out what "Green" has possibly been thinking is going to hurt SO. MUCH.

BUT IT WILL MAKE THE COMFORT FEEL SO EARNED AND WORTH IT!!! THE JOURNEY SHALL BE WORTH EVERY BIT OF TERRIFIC ANGST!!! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK AND APOLOGIES FOR THE RAMBLING!

At the end of the day, I hope my story feels like one of those nights where you sob your eyes out into a friend's shoulder and they just hold you and are there for you the whole time. I'm glad you feel seen.

I've always been a bit frustrated by how quickly things resolve after the immediate threat is taken care of, because recovery can often take the rest of people's lives, so why is it only a cliff note in most of our stories? It deserves as much care and consideration as whatever created the trauma in the first place.

Also, while I'm not a fan of the trope where characters have an obnoxious misunderstanding and just don't talk, I really enjoy playing with a softer "these characters care so much about each other and are trying to understand but are scared of being rejected" kind of tension. There's no true blame from any of the brothers; simply a personal guilt of failing the others, with the slight exception of Draxum's tactics making Green a little doubtful of everyone's intentions.

You have awesome art, by the way! It is really effective at getting emotions across. Love the use of the lines to add to the overall effect.

And the Crane Wives is a fantastic band, I think it has that longing for connection vibe really well.

Reader has a bad habit of sneaking up on people because of how QUIET they are, even wondering if they simply just...couldnt talk. The boys try to get them to smile or frown or react but it never seems to work.

Turns out? They have SEVERE social anxiety. Basically sociaphobia. They find this out through text. Theyre GREAT at texting. Emojis are great for helping get tones and moods and facial expressions across for them. But anyway Reader eventually comes clean about the severe social anxiety, and how its so...Debilitating at this point. They WANT to make friends, its just that....communication is a nightmare and such a struggle.

This? This kicks our boys into gear! They want to help, theyre DETERMINED. They get that you cant just wish away something like this, and that its not solved in a day, but by golly are they going to help you.

Leo, ever the leader, tries helping Reader with showing their expressions more and opening up in that way. Sure, its mostly done via joking around, but he's gotten shockingly good at picking up your very small (but slowly growing!) facial ticks. Your nose flaring slightly when youre frustrated or upset, teeth grinding or tongue chewing when your anxiety spikes, hes picked up on it all. They all have, granted, but he's on the front lines, he knows you better and better every week.

Donnie helps by getting you set up with apps that have text to speak, and even helps get you better ways of communicating digitally. Struggling to tell everyone how you're feeling? Have no fear, Othello von Ryan has you covered. He's the most laid back about your anxiety. You know you can go in his lab any day and sit quietly to watch. He'll offer tools to help but wont push you to open up. Sometimes, the quiet is nice.

Where Nardo helps you with physically working on expressing yourself, Mikey is exceptional at helping you convey your emotions. Dr Feelings helps you work through your anxiety, helps you ground yourself and begin to relax and, ever so slowly, help you loosen your grip on your voice. Mikey, through writing, text, drawing, whatever, helps you communicate just how you feel, and if you're overwhelmed BY that feeling, he's 100% helping you work through it.

Raphael? Raphael didnt think he'd have, what he considers the hardest job, but its certainly difficult. Working on you ACTUALLY communicating verbally is ROUGH. You struggle getting sounds out, and your stutter is awful, but he comforts and soothes and encourages you to take your time, he's in no rush. Even of you're struggling with giving a simple answer of "yes" to a question bc you froze up, he never pushes or makes you rush. Take your time, and if you find yourself just unable, he lets you opt out and write.

and then, one day, you were in the lair.

It was a rather relaxed day Donnie was messing with his phone, texting you memes occasionally between bickering with April. Leo was draped upside down on the couch, reading. Mikey had brough an art project out in the tv room, wanting to share the space with you all. Raph was watching some old cheesy horror movie, wincing here and there as zombies lurched and growled.

and then

...they heard it.

It was tiny. Small. Delicate but gravelly from lack of use.

It was small and quiet, but the four heard it loud and clear.

"Th-tha-ank yo-you..."

They all snapped their gazes over to reader, who had shy, somwhat awkward but oh so very THEM smile pulling at their lips.

And the boys never felt more proud of your months of hard work.

Aww!!! Not quite nursing to health, but this feels like fundamentally the same trope.. months and months of tlc to get you to a better place than before, all because they love you 💕

RISE12 crossover snippet

Despite all of the fun that they’ve been having, there is an undercurrent of awkwardness and uncomfortableness. It’s obvious they’re trying to pretend everything is normal, but Leonardo can tell that they don’t like him very much.

“Man, I still can’t believe he turned out to be a total loon.”

“Huh?” Leo looks at little Michelangelo—Dude, call me Mikey or Michael, or even Angelo, Michelangelo is a mouthful—with a confused and startled expression. “You met the actor?”

“Aw yeah! We dressed up like the space turtles and went to meet him. He thinks of himself as the real Jupiter Jim and kidnapped people who cosplayed as villains and even kept his sidekick, Red Fox, in a glass box. It was completely insane, but he’s cool now.”

“I still haven’t gotten over the tragedy of ruining that mint comic,” woes Donatello—Don’t ever address me by my full name, but segue! If you want to address me with formality, then you, my dear alternate brother, can call me Othello von Ryan—dramatically throwing himself to lean against Raphael—Little bro, call me Raph or Raphie. You may be from an alternate universe, but we’re brothers, you don’t need to be so formal—who is looking too smug to be amused. “I knew I should have just left Leon and Mikey like that. They would’ve been less of a hassle to deal with.”

April appears affronted, dramatically placing a hand over her chest. “You what?” she shouts, glaring at them with a betrayed expression. “You met Marcus Moncrief and you didn’t invite me? Why do you guys always have all the fun without me?”

Leo shifts unsurely. “Uh, did you miss the part where he kidnapped them?”

“So? It wouldn’t be the first time. Also, what do you mean by ‘he’s cool now’?” she says, scrunching her fingers to resemble quotation marks.

“Oh, we met him again. Have we really not told you this?”

“No! You guys never tell me anything!”
