Conversation I had today on discord
New friend: Hey can I ask you two personal questions?
Me: Uh, maybe.. what questions?
NF: You mentioned being ace, are you aro too? If so could you tell me how you know? Also you said you use any pronouns, can I ask how I should switch pronouns?
... ( 3 hours and many messages about being aro, relationship anarchy, and our experiences as mathematicians trying to be okay with not defining everything about ourselves)...
NF: So anyway I planned to message you because I just wanted to say thanks for attending our meeting yesterday!

🎭Favorite sketch where the kids play themselves?
oh the scott-bot sketch for sure! so many parts i love: the scott-bot ripping off bellini's towel only for him to have another towel underneath, kevin bursting in with a ripped sweater, mark's scared acting, the fact that scott built a robot because he was still tired from his vacation, scott fighting the robot in his robe and with the wrong remotes... it's a gem
🪠Favorite one-off character?
scott's detective character from the katnapped sketch. that's a great sketch already, but there's something just really fascinating about the peter prince character that i just can't get enough of. also some of scott's best work, in my opinion
📰Have you watched News Radio?
i have not! but i plan to! my girlfriend used to watch it and she really hyped it up for me. i recently found seasons one and two at a second-hand store, and my sister got me season three for my birthday. once i get it the last couple seasons on dvd i am blowing through it

ok i was gonna write a whole rant about sick 2023 about how sick (ha!) the whole covid plot made me, but i'm bad with words and i simply don't have the energy for it, but i think it boils down to the three distinct categories of covid-related media and how tolerable they can be, which are:
products of the pandemic, a direct consequence of lockdown, more often than not showcasing the immense creativity and resourcefulness of their creators in the face of hard times. a little bit of a time capsule, but outstanding and a joy to come back to (e.g. bo burnham's 'inside', or the lockdown broadcast in not for broadcast).
the pandemic/2020 as merely a setting, and not the focus of the story. mostly effective in comedy. if done well, it can elicit somewhat joyful feelings of familiarity for the shared experiences we lived through, without bringing up the anguish that was also prevalent. basically, the 'haha i do that' effect (e.g. glass onion and the among us scene, and for the sake of circling back, the beginning of sick 2023).
covid as the plot. not any sickness, or any disease, but covid-19 and its contagion as the main conflict of a story. regardless of the point it's trying to make, even if it's a provax-promask message which i support, it's just...don't. why. how fucking tiring (e.g. the actual plot reveal of sick 2023).

If you were to theorize, which track do you think Luz would fit best into?
Hmmm. Hard to say, at the moment, but that's mostly because I haven't learned what all of the tracks are yet. But I can still speculate based on the tracks I know already, so let's go with that!
Overall, Luz strikes me as someone who is active. She prefers to take direct action in order to achieve her goals, and her first response to a problem tends to be to try and smack it. (See: after making Azura's staff in Episode 7, the first and only thing she did with it was to try using it to hit doodle-Otabin in the face.) She's good at coming up with spur-of-the-moment plans, but she's not as good at strategising as, say, Gus is, and she doesn't always think things through. She's dramatic, and she likes things to be flashy. She's also a bit impatient at times.
I'm starting with this because up to this point, we've seen Luz learn only one spell, so it's not entirely clear where her preferences and talents in magic may lie. As a result, I'm drawing from what else I know about her for this.
I think I'd start by ruling out the construction track and the fortune telling/oracle/whatever-it's-called-exactly track, since I don't think she'd be particularly interested in either of them. Construction seems a bit too mundane for Luz, and fortune telling seems a bit too abstract.
I'm also not counting the orange, red, and dark blue tracks in my speculation for the moment, since I don't know what they actually are. This leaves the four tracks that have (or had in the past) a major character enrolled in them.
I don't think Luz would have much interest in abominations, as much as she enjoyed being one. This type of magic seems to entail creating a separate entity and then commanding them to do stuff for you. I think Luz would prefer a more direct form of magic.
Similarly, I feel as if plant magic requires a lot of patience in order to understand plants and work with them, not to mention an interest in plants. I don't think Luz has either of these characteristics, so I don't think she'd really enjoy plant magic so much.
Between illusion magic and potions... I'm not sure. On the one hand, Luz has the sense of drama for illusion magic, and it seems pretty versatile, not to mention she's already acquainted with three people in the track, so it seems like a pretty good option for her.
On the other, she could go for potions, since Eda was in that track! (Though it does feel as if that sort of defeats the purpose of her doing her own thing at school.) I'm not sure what goes into making potions, but if it doesn't involve spells that need casting the way most other forms of magic do, this track might actually be the best place to start for someone who has difficulty casting spells the normal way.
However, I think there's also a decent chance that she'll end up enrolled in one of the tracks I don't know about yet. Since I don't have any information on those, it's entirely possible that one of them could be a perfect fit for Luz and I'm just not aware of it at this point.
I don't think this is a particularly conclusive answer, but in my defense, I don't have all the information yet. If I get info on the remaining three tracks before I find out which one Luz ends up enrolled into, I'll give this one another shot!
