i don't know maybe it's the translation i read but i guess i always thought it was made fairly clear that shuro never legitimately hated laios so much as he resented him for being able to be the way he was. much like laios (albeit for very different reasons) shuro's affect is frequently commented on by others to be strange and at a mismatch with the prevailing culture around him, being very reticent to the point of the part where he tells the girl he likes that he likes her being when he Proposed. quite a few characters say something to this effect! shuro was raised in formality and stoicism and i think has a tendency towards not rocking the boat even besides that, and now here's this guy who breaks every one of his rules and he makes it look so easy. it's like a two-pronged frustration of "doesn't this guy understand that you can't just do that" and "fuck, what would it feel like to be able to do that." of course he gets mad! it's frustration, but it's also envy.

no one asked but i gotta put out one of my biggest fandom/fanfic pet peeves:
"unthinking/meme-poisoned socmed usage assigned to every character"
why does everyone have to be a twitter funnyman. why does everyone act like they post for clout and monetization. when would they have the time? what does account verification entail, and would they warrant it.
think it through 🤔

We all assign Lilith as the Philip parallel when analyzing the similarities between the clawthorne sisters and the wittebane brothers. But have we stopped to consider for a moment that Belos saw Lilith as the Caleb in her situation? An older sibling who makes a selfish decision (in Philip's eyes) and betrays their younger sibling, leaving them a monster outcast from society??
We as the audience know just how different those situations were, but from Belos' pov...
I'm not saying Lilith was seen as so disposable and worthless by Belos, not just bc she was a witch, but because she was a Clawthorne whom Belos saw as a mirror of Caleb...but that's exactly what I'm saying and I'm realizing that Belos must've hated Lilith's guts more than we thought

Feel like a miserable crone on this Halloween, I don't want to put up a sign on our door like "Please don't knock I've been sick for a week and the only candy I have is candy corn and I don't think you want either of these things" because it sounds like dog ate my homework shit but :')

also sorry but if a conversation is about what something means it doesn't feel like the place to talk about how rude or tactless it is. we're having an autistic conversation can we move past "people will be hurt by that." well at least in this situation the person who could have been hurt by it wasn't. people might be hurt by that but you know what that's a separate discussion
