ok so i was tagged by the lovely @lexiklecksi for the 11/11/11 tag, the rules are: answer the 11 questions she asked me, make up my own 11 questions and then tag 11 ppl to answer those (so if you want you can skip to the questions at the bottom lmao). however as a fair warning: this got Way too long probably bc im rambly today. i tried to limit the stream of consciousness but….
1. current musical obsession: Frank Ocean and related sort of neo-r&b stuff - while writing this im also discovering Childish Gambino’s “Awaken, My Love!” (and also the song Golden Brown, but not bc im listening to it but bc im learning it on both guitar and piano)
2. 3 things i always take with me:
- wallet (or at least my id)
- phone (&earphones)
- cigarettes&lighter
3. what (or who) i miss most in lockdown: i dont rly remember? im so used to the situation by now that i kind of forget to miss what i did when things were “normal”... but i guess going to bars w/ friends, and just being able to go shopping when i need smth
4. pick: either only read 1 book or only read books picked by someone else: i wouldn’t be able to only read one book for the rest of my life! so definitely the second option (esp if i can pick the person who picks the books)
5. why i found your blog/followed you and if i intend to stay: uhh you followed me and when i checked your blog i liked the vibe i guess? also you were v nice in the tags of my music stuff! also ya i like it here, so im staying for a while
6. when and why did i last cry: i genuinely dont know for sure.. the last time i specifically remember crying was my granddad’s funeral, which is three yrs ago this month, but i do know ive cried once or twice since then, i just dont remember for sure when and why.
wait i do remember, i think the last time was when i saw Richard Says Goodbye (live music and movies or books are basically the only reason i rly cry, im not an emotional crier, dont know why).
7. who holds the key to my heart: my partner of five (and a bit) years, whom i love Very Much! (although ofc my heart is not locked, i have so much love to give, just romantically i am very much taken)
8, pick one: star wars/star trek, dobby/gollum, white/black magic, flying/teleportation, time travel: past/future?
- Star Wars
- Gollum (even though i have read hp but still havent read lotr, ive read the hobbit like 4 times tho)
- i think the hard dichotomy btwn white/black magic or like light/dark and good/bad in most fiction is often v flawed bc thats not how the world works, everything is grey areas (e.g. the Jedi are not better than the Sith, both have deeply flawed philosophies). the Force (or any magic for that matter) is not inherently good or evil, it just is. nature isnt abt good or evil, isnt abt opposites but abt balance.
and especially if you work with the occult and magical, i think thats all abt walking the edge between light and dark, life and death, night and day, good and bad etc…
so to answer the question: grey magic lmao, its all abt balance
- teleportation i think, bc while flying is very cool, i think teleportation has more practical uses (although also has danger involved, such as what happens if you teleport into a space that is already occupied by a person or an object? but for the sake of argument, prolly teleportation)
- do not even get me started on time travel.. the implications of time travel to the past are…… complicated to say the least (it only works if you believe in hard determinism, which i wholly do not). so in a practical sense, def to the future (although that is also Problematic within the constraints of our four-dimensional universe/experience).
in a philosophical sense though, ignoring all the paradoxes and laws of time and space, id still pick the future (or maybe no time travel at all), bc i think the past is the past for a reason. we remember it, we learn from it, but ultimately we must leave it behind.
my philosophical problem with traveling to the future is more that you cant just. skip life. so if you travel to the future, it has to be way beyond your own life and direct influence, or youll interfere with yourself and your own future, and thats scientifically, psychologically /and/ philosophically a v bad idea all round, i think.
9. which thoughts keep me awake at night: almost never specific thoughts, but quite often anxiety abt the near future. but theres no like, lingering issues that keep me awake.
10. what id do with you if we were locked up together for 24hrs: i think i’d really like to write with you! make poetry, song lyrics, make art! bc we could rly learn from each other i think and also we could just rly pick each others brain abt mundane, important and transcendental stuff ya know?
11. ask anything: do you have concrete, long term plans for the future, maybe even backup plans? a clear vision of how the rest of your life is going to go? or are you more the type to do what makes you happy now and figure it out as you go along?
my own questions (large variation in vibes and weight, i know):
describe your favourite colour using other senses (like what sound, smell, feeling or w/e do you associate with it)
what’s the best thing that happened to you in the last week, last month and last year?
what’s the one thing/what are the things that help(s) you get up in the moring and keep putting one foot in front of the other?
are you a leftie? (warning: there is a correct answer)
do you play/have you ever played a musical instrument? (and for the sake of completeness, yes i am counting singing as well)
do you have one thing (e.g. a song, movie, book or smth else) that never fails to bring you joy?
do you have one (or more) person(s) you feel you could still hit up after ten yrs of radio silence and you’d still vibe?
what’s your favourite song lyric/line from a poem/quote? and why?
who was your first celebrity crush? (if you’ve ever had one obvsly)
what’s smth you’re looking forward to? could be specific, could be a general thing like a driver’s licence or your own apartment or w/e
this one is specifically to feed my curiosity, indulge me: why did you follow me?
congrats, you’ve managed to reach the end! again, very sorry for the rambles, thanks for sticking around. im tagging @alt-heidi, @terdiscussie, @a-soul-to-cling-to, @ontvreemd, @sarahhnghae and i guess whoever fuckin feels like it? i literally can’t think of 11 ppl on this hell site, so if i forgot you its not personal. if we’re mutuals you’re especially tagged.

My personal connection with Taylor’s discography, part ten: Dorothea
Basically this is just a series I’m doing where I write down my feelings on what each of the Taylor songs means to me personally on a line to line basis both for my own sake to have it somewhere and for anyone who wants to know anything further about me.
So with that in mind, let’s get started.
Dorothea
So honestly I feel like this is going to be the shortest of these and I’ve put it off for so long because while I love this song, it is very straightforward and can pretty much be read at face value. In short, Dorothea is the somewhat rose glasses approach my mind takes when thinking back on a friendship I left behind in 2018.
Hey Dorothea do you ever stop and think about me?
That’s the ultimate question when thinking of someone from your past, isn’t it? Is it just me remembering this fondly or do you sometimes miss me too?
When we were younger, down in the park, honey, making a lark of the misery.
This person was just generally a really positive person and bright light for the time they were in my life. Like they just always knew what to say to make it feel like whatever drama or pain I was going through wouldn’t last forever. I know we had arguments, and potentially more than I remember, but really nearly every memory I have of them was making what was otherwise an average, boring experience into something fun.
You got shiny friends since you left town
As I’ve mentioned a few times during this project, I’ve always been quite an insecure person. So when I met this person’s non-mutual friends both from the place they now live and otherwise, it always felt very fun and exciting but also selfishly concerning wondering how long they’d want to stay friends with someone as inadequate as I feel.
A tiny screen's the only place I see you now
Since we had our falling out, the only time I see anything about them is on facebook where we’re still ‘friends’.
And I got nothing but well wishes for ya
Despite our falling out and at times wishing they’d come back, I do genuinely wish them all the best in life, even knowing that that’s probably a life without me.
This place is the same as it ever was but you don't like it that way
It genuinely feels like nothing in my city or life has changed since this person left. And while they never complained about the city or whatever, it was always clear that they were made for something bigger than it.
It's never too late to come back to my side
I often wonder what would happen if they came back. Part of me feels like I’d say it’s too late and I’ve made it this far without them, but realistically, I feel like if they said what they needed to say, it would convince me enough to give our friendship a second go.
The stars in your eyes shined brighter in Tupelo
I remember finding out that this friend wasn’t feeling as emotionally well as they used to in the months before having our falling out and while they’re probably doing better now, that has stuck with me a lot. Particularly so in the form of guilt knowing how I lashed out to cause the fallout (not the issues we had, but like the final fight itself).
And if you're ever tired of being known for who you know, you know, you'll always know me Dorothea
I also remember this friend mentioning at some point that they got tired of having to keep up communication with people because they felt like after a certain point, people just knew each other and didn’t need that to be friends. I still disagree to this day, but that mixed with how much of an oversharer I am makes me believe that at least on some level, this person and probably a lot of my ex friends will always know the fundamentals of what makes me who I am.
Ooh, you're a queen selling dreams, selling make up and magazines. Ooh, from you I'd buy anything
Kinda on the same vein as the lark of the misery line, this person was just always so positive and so sure that things were always going to work out. And even though things never seemed to for me, I’d always believe them when they said it.
When it was calmer
Again, jumping back to the Tupelo line and really just the vibe of this song, everything seemed way easier as kids. It was funner, less stressful and with the nostalgic rose glasses looking back gives you, seemingly better than life now.
Skipping the prom just to piss off your mom and her pageant schemes
So I’m gonna put on my clown wig and nose and admit I thought that this line was ‘Skip in the pond just to piss off your mum and her pageant schemes” until I looked them up for this analysis. And like deliberately messing up my clothes in puddles to annoy my mother who was constantly trying to make me dress in ‘girly’ outfits was a thing we did so that’s still how I relate to this line even if it’s not the correct lyric lmao.
And damn, Dorothea they all wanna be ya
As I’ve mentioned, this person was an extremely positive, easy-going person as well as humourous and I know a lot of my friends who wished they could be more like that. Hell, I still wish I could be.
But are you still the same soul I met under the bleachers?
Likewise, as I have also mentioned, this person has a deeper side, one they often kept under wraps. And I wonder if that emotional unwellness they felt changed them or if they bounced back.
Well, I guess I'll never know
Out of respect for this person’s privacy and the comfort of mutual friends, I never asked about this friend after the fallout. Neither of us post on our shared social media either. So whatever they are doing now and whatever they do in the future, I will never know.
And you'll go on with the show
But regardless of not knowing exactly what it is this person’s doing, it’s clear that they have kept going and will keep living their life as it’s meant to be.

More playlist meta bc I don’t wanna do homework and Jimmy kicked me out of the TA room saying I’d been in there for far too long for a Friday (it was four hours! Interspaced between classes! Workshop kit inventory is just an excuse to blast Gloryhammer to me, it’s fun)
Since I was talking about Ten Thousand Against One earlier, I’ve been thinking about the timeline and which event the songs are connected to. Long post under the cut
Turn the Lights Out is... sort of an odd case. It’s not like Remnants of Stars, which is about Galran and my philosophy about how we were created, what happens to us when we die, and the cycles that power the universe. Of course, Remnants of Stars is a little more than just philosophy. It actually describes (in a rather metaphorical way) the actual process of the marthinazik filtering quintesence into new stars, planets, beings, anything you can think of. It also has a very important lyric for much much later like, post Sticky Notes later. Now that I think about it, it actually defines a good chunk of that maybe-sequel-maybe-idea era in conjunction with Soul Extract’s Filaments.
Anyway, back to Turn the Lights Out. It’s an odd case because it’s sort of like Remnants of Stars in that it’s more about the philosophy, but it’s before Remnants of Stars because it’s also kind of an event. If you read interviews with Delain about Moonbathers, Charlotte states that Turn the Lights Out is about Neil Gaiman's Sandman comics, specifically the character of Death. I confess I haven’t read those comics, but my interpretation fits her rather well I think. To me, Turn the Lights Out is about a gentle god who accepts they will not always be seen as who they are but will give their everything to protect those within their universe. Now, who does that sound like? Which characters have been around since the birth of the universe, under various names, whether they be Ibeshganszá, ‘kibrraldíl, Marduzbazí, or Vôltrôn?
You can make an argument for Your World Will Fail to be directly after Turn the Lights Out, but I rather like it after Remnants of Stars too. Turn the Lights Out is the beginning of the universe, so naturally, it goes first. Sentient life needs to evolve for Remnants of Stars to truly fit, and even though Your Would Will Fail technically can happen at any point between the first Plank time and the next, it also happens when the comet that becomes Voltron crashes into Daibazaal. The Your World Will Fail/Dark Matter/Eater of Worlds trio is both a general, entire timeline-spanning idea, and a specific event.
(Your world will fail my love/It's far beyond repair/Your world will fail my love/It is already there)
(Bring me your soul/Bring me your hate/In my name you will create/Bring me your fear/Bring me your pain/You will destroy in my name)
(Can't imagine the violence/The rage and the love in my madness/I am the eater of worlds and I'm looking for someone to feed me)
And then, right after that event, or even during, you have Apocalypse 1992. The death of the dream, the final madness before the triumph of chaos.
You Keep What You Kill is very much the odd one out out of everything. Helion Prime based it off a book I forget the name of, but here it’s purely about Zarkon’s empire. The “Holy Half-Dead” have lost so much of their culture, of the family bonds that kept them together even when their mistakes threatened the destruction of all, but they still remember the songs of glory. And they do keep what they kill.
And then there’s a rather large time jump of about five thousand Earth years to The Seven Sisters. This song is pretty well encapsulated in Child From the Stars (Lost in the Dark) (which is a lyric from Closure, but Closure is later for Reasons), but the other half of it is connected to Memories of a Girl I Haven’t Met.
Who Will Save You Now has gone through so many iterations of what it’s connected to I honestly don’t remember what it actually is anymore. Given its placement between The Seven Sisters and Nobody Gets Left Behind, I think it’s related to the SFSS Genesis’s disappearance. But it could also be placed in conjunction with A Simple Plan and be about something slightly different...hm, I’ll think on that. This song has such a Dark Matter vibe to me, but it hasn’t found a home that sticks in my brain yet.
Nobody Gets Left Behind is really there bc it’s a fun song and when I found 1551 I immediately had to put something in. BUT it is a good song about family dynamics and, well, that’s Voltron in a nutshell right? (and then you get, right there in the first verse, “Don't even try to pretend/That you're rough and just as tough/As when you're missing a friend/Attack and take him back/Cause when the team isn't whole/You've got a hole in your soul/So step up to your fucking role/We might get hurt/We might be taking some hits/But when you're taking our friend/Then that's some personal shit” and you cannot tell me that’s not everybody’s mood post Battle in the Sarnan Nebula)
A Simple Plan is a new addition in the past few weeks. I rediscovered The Spiritual Machines a few weeks ago and the lyric “How long can we hold off ending/How long can we pretend we're ok” hit me right in the Keith feels. So this one is in conjunction with the first verse of Nobody Gets Left Behind. The entire song actually reminds me of Dark Matter with how it’s centralized at one event but contains hints of other things (The truth arrived too slow).
Memories of a Girl I Haven't Met is maybe one standard year (so six earth months-ish?) after A Simple Plan.
String Theory is... weird. It’s mostly there for the title, but the lyrics do contain themes found in other parts of the playlist that fit really well but don’t map to the event I associate the song with. It’s honestly about Shiro missing Adam and the rest of the people on Earth. Which, granted, given the point in the timeline the title is associated with makes a certain amount of sense but...idk. And the bit that begins with “You don’t believe in space” is about something entirely different. It’s confusing, but all inexplicably related to the title event.
Interesting fact: My Dark Matter drafts/ideas folder is actually split int pre- and post- String Theory folders. It was originally because String Theory is such a pivotal moment in the Coalition’s efforts, but it also ended up vaguely the middle of the timeline. It’s the point where things absolutely, truly, have no relation to what happens in canon. The butterfly effect stemming from the events of Shatterpoint (and an implied secondary shatterpoint in another fic) have changed things enough that apart from one general event, nothing happens the same way (and that event is for drastically different reasons). All in all, it fits the weird vibe of the song rather well.
Next is Belgrade, the Ultimate Klance Song, about three months later. Fun Shenanigans happen in conjunction with this absolute bop.
Here’s the surprisingly big gap of just over a standard Earth year, in which several important events happen that don’t have songs attached to them (Roentgen, maybe)
Then we get Birthright/Firewall, a set of songs about reclaiming yourself from the depths of hell with just a liiiiiitle bit of help from your family.
(It's time to take ahold of what belongs to me/It's time to walk away with no apologies/Voices in the mirror start quietly/And now they're screaming back at me!)
(This force knows what you can do/And what you can make/With your tattered shell)
Here Comes the Reign technically starts during Birthright/Firewall, but doesn’t come into full effect until a month later, and then even fuller around five months after that. Meanwhile, we have The Day the Earth Collapsed, which is rather self-explanatory.
A few months later there is Darker Matter. The fic connected to this is real weird, but also real important. Suffice to say it’s gonna be confusing, and a universe doesn’t like the Paladins for a while.
And then we have Closure. Child From the Stars (Lost in the Dark) is actually the first of four fics inspired by Closure’s chorus. (I also drew a picture for each fic. They’re combined into my desktop background, and the first one is still my phone background and my pfp) “I am the child from the stars/That got lost in the dark/Between heaven and hell/I am forced to live on/I am the cause when you sin/I am the demon you skin/But there is no more tears to beautify/This is my last goodbye”
Closure is a rather sad song actually, but the way I’ve interpreted it ends on a bright spot of hope. The first related fic I’ve already posted/talked about, the second would be around the time of A Simple Plan. The third is somewhere in the gap between Belgrade and Birthright/Firewall. I’ve placed Closure at the approximate time of the fourth fic. I actually just moved it while writing this, because I realized this makes more sense after Darker Matter and with the Fall of [Redacted]. I’ve chosen to interpret the last line as finally deciding to stay instead of the (probably more likely given the rest of the album) darker interpretations.
After Closure is Ember, which is actually super connected to Darker Matter which is why I originally had them next to each other. The thing is, all three of these songs are connected to very specific events, the latter two of which are in direct response to the first even if there is a month or two between them. Ember is on the playlist for two reasons: the first is the line “dark matter falling from the sky” that basically required me to put it somewhere; the second is the fact that I keep mishearing the lyrics. “chthonic” is not “cuthonic” (which is not a word, but I interpreted as meaning Cthulu-like) and it’s “riches to embers” not “witches to embers.” Make of that what you will.
And finally, after almost seven Earth years, we get to The Reckoning/This is a Call/World on Fire/Louder Than Words. The Reckoning sort-of picks up where The Day the Earth Collapsed left off, spanning at least a year before going full force into the frantic five days of the other three songs.
(In blood and tears/A thousand times/We rise against/We'll always hold the line/Of reckoning)
(This is a call to action/This is a call to arms/All lives for one, together/There are no false alarms)
(World on fire with a smoking sun/Stops everything and everyone/Brace yourself for all will pay/Help is on the way)
(We have the force to fight/We have the blinding light/A war is more than heard/Coming in louder than words)

Throwback Thunderbirds: A House Thunderbird Playlist
Influenced by how Jake fits into his house and the relationships that he’s found within said house, but also generalizations about Thunderbirds are extrapolated.
(~Throwback = No songs in this playlist are less than ten years old~)
Thunderstruck - AC/DC
Thunder, thunder, thunder, thunder I was caught In the middle of a railroad track I looked round And I knew there was no turning back
At first glance, Thunderbirds can be flashy. They can be loud like the boom of thunder and light up a room. They can put on a show. Jake himself can be on the surface a bit showy himself and the center of attention. This song is also about adventure hijinks in roadtrips etc, all very Thunderbird.
The Adventure - Angels & Airwaves
Hey Ohh, here I am And here we go, life's waiting to begin
I mean the title in itself says it. But the entire vibe of “The Adventure” is just a montage of colors and lights and reaching the top of mountains you never thought you’d see the peak of. Life’s waiting to begin for every Thunderbird and for every person at Ilvermorny who gets sorted. Being a Thunderbird was the start of magic for Jake, the start of something entirely new. A new adventure from his already adventure seeking life in an entirely new realm. Every possibility opened itself up and he found people who were willing to venture forth with him. This song is breathing in adventure with every note and every lyric.
Dare You To Move - Switchfoot
Welcome to the fallout Welcome to resistance The tension is here The tension is here Between who you are and who you could be Between how it is and how it should be
To be a Thunderbird is not without failure. It is not without moments of weakness and moments of heartbreak. It’s that knowing when you do fall out of the sky, the other birds will be there for you to help you take flight again. Daring to soar back into the sky once more, even if you may be struck down again, “like today never happened before”.
Meant to Live - Switchfoot
Fumbling his confidence And wondering why the world has passed him by Hoping that he's bent for more than arguments, And failed attempts to fly, fly
We were meant to live for so much more Have we lost ourselves? Somewhere we live inside Somewhere we live inside
On the surface, Jake Rogers has/had everything. Head Boy, (ex) Head Girlfriend, Captain of the Quidditch team, Captain of Champions for Magical Creatures. But inside his confidence can be shaken. He was born to people who don’t know the first thing about magic. He doesn’t have a reference for things. Closest thing he got to that was Ting-Ting, and to rely on someone else as he did--as he does--to help him succeed in a magical world he’s still discovering isn’t something with stable footing.
In general, Thunderbirds can falter. They can wonder what their actual purpose is. One adventure to the next, but when does the ultimate adventure begin? The one they were meant for. Somewhere it lives inside them.
Everything’s Magic - Angels & Airwaves
So hear this please And watch as your heart speeds up endlessly And look for the stars as the sun goes down Each breath that you take has a thunderous sound Everything, everything's magic
Everything is magic. Even things that aren’t inherently magical. It’s all new and its all magic when you see it for the first time. How could that Muggle device be? How could that Wizarding item possibly do that? Love is magic. Friendship is magic. Magic is everywhere and affects everyone differently. As a Thunderbird, you search and you explore and you discover every bit of magic that you can.
Crawling in the Dark - Hoobastank
Show me what it's for Make me understand it I've been crawling in the dark Looking for the answer Is there something more Than what I've been handed? I've been crawling in the dark Looking for the answer
Thunderbirds seek adventure, but what adventure is worth taking? What adventure will give you what you need? What path will you take? Are you smarter than most? Are you braver than most? Are you quicker than most? Where will your future be? You go in blind to posibilities and somehow find your answer at the end, but its up to you to find the path that takes you down to it.
Rooftops - Lostprophets
When our time is up When our lives are done Will we say we've had our fun
Will we make a mark This time Will we always say we tried
As a Thunderbird, you wonder what your mark will be. Trying everything and exploring what you can, you try to fill the feeling in your soul that there’s so much more out there. Whether its more out there to learn or to experience or both. Adventure awaits.
I’m Still Here - John Rzeznik
And I want a moment to be real, Wanna touch things I don't feel, Wanna hold on and feel I belong. And how can the world want me to change? They’re the ones that stay the same. They can’t see me, But I’m still here.
Sorry, ya’ll but I had to shamelessly plug a Disney within a Disney. This is the ultimate quest for adventure. The quest to find your true potential despite what others may think of you and to make those who didn’t appreciate what you offered before. If you don’t soar along with this song then I don’t know what’s up with you, friend.
Carry This Picture - Dashboard Confessional
And down to the edge of the water, Where we'll spill our guts, And we'll name our fears. I'll give you this picture. Keep it and don't be scared.
Color the coast with your smile. It's the most genuine thing I've ever seen. I was so lost, but now, I believe in the coast, Your smile is the most genuine thing I've ever seen. I was so lost, but now, I believe
Jake and Ting-Ting have shared a great many stories together. She’s the first name in each ridiculous story told (not about Quidditch, of course). Her smile and her laugh were things that made him love being a Thunderbird even more. To be a Thunderbird is to know who to take on adventures with you, knowing that when you go, you’ll have people to rely on. Jake was a bit lost, he’d found himself with Quidditch, found teammates, but he hadn’t exactly found his friends yet. Staying in that Potions classroom when he had absolutely no idea what he was doing was the beginning of one of his favorite adventures.
Kings & Queens - 30 Seconds to Mars
The age of man is over A darkness comes at dawn These lessons that we learned here Have only just begun
Passing through 7 years at Ilvermorny is no easy feat. The things you learn along the way you take with you for the rest of your lives. As Thunderbirds, you take each lesson from each new day and adventure and use it to soar higher and follow what best suits your soul and the purpose you’ve set out for your life. Though you’ve come so far, there is still much undiscovered and still so much left dark and waiting for you to find. Light up the sky in new places, conquer lands whether they be in your own mind or physically set before you. Go forth and be a Thunderbird.

Season five thoughts after my second and third watch. Only some of which are in order. Feel free to scream into the notes if something strikes you.
Blue Lion ice beam power in perspective. It kinda throws my pokemon type knowledge for a loop. Ice shouldn’t hold up to fire for that long.*brain explodes*
Lol at Lance actually writing notes on his hand. At least I got that implication from Allura’s ‘shame glare’. I want to know what report they let him give in the meeting.
I don’t know what to do with the fact that Lotor was in charge of the prison Sam was in. I'm guessing he knew the Holt connection beforehand since Acxa also seemed to know. but HOW?
Holt siblings upgrading rebel ships and Beezer. I love their mutual love and adoration for each other
Matt, Rolo, Nyma, and Beezer are a great rebel team. I look forward to more of them working together.
Sam must really be a genius if the Galra considered a guy from a backwater planet a scientific asset. That or future Earth is a lot closer to space tech than we thought. Earth IS traveling to Kerberos in two months now.
Matt gets his angst scenes. (That’s what you get for doing the grave fake out) unfortunately Pidge suffers doubly so.
Honestly the range of emotions Pidge goes through in the first two episodes is wildly good stuff. Entertaining and heartbreaking. It’s just so relatable.
Episode two and Lotor proposes to Allura. She doesn’t say no. That just happened. I’m cackling.
I smell diplomat Hunk. 👌
Haggar is an unreliable narrator. But I know there is some truth to take out of that vision. How much? Does Haggar think the rift entity had a hold on Lotor?
So I guess anyone can use a bayard. Nifty.
‘Go loose Pidge’ part two
What like, an epic fight.
Zarkon is not staying dead guys. I’m not fooled. May be a bit before he’s back though. Let Haggar play main villain for a bit. (Rift Entity is totally end game boss)
I feel terrible but I got massive Team Rocket vibes from the Generals at the end of the fight.
Why does Coran have a pet in his intestines?
The wrongness of Acxa, Zethrid, and Ezor working for Haggar physically pains me.
The context of Lance training to work off steam makes me sad and proud at the same time. Looking forward to the future significance of that sword form.
Matt and Sam using the Olkari interface is a scene I needed. I’m so glad Sam helped out while once before he left.
You guys this Voltron mindscape scene killed me. That’s the mystical bond I wanted to see more of. To me it suggests that Shiro’s mind/soul is trapped in the astral plane. Shiro is the only person on the team Lance really hasn’t bonded with. I look forward to next season.
Sendak. I don’t know how he survived being spaced but I’m glad he’s back. Should be delicious when the Paladins meet him again.
Kral Zera? Galra culture? I hunger for more. So does Keith.
Keith using that container strategy with the Blades warms my heart. He will always be a paladin.
If the quartermaster didn’t die I would have loved to see Pidge interrogate him and then bond over color coding. I love how that joke won’t die.
Hunk have I told you lately how much I love your commentary?
Galra timeline! CoOL.
Random thought: is Throk dead? I don’t think he is or did I miss a big scene?
Did anyone else think Keith was gonna light the flame by accident? Cause like, when the explosion happened over the cauldron I’m like ‘hm symbolism?’
Space Atlantis. Did not see that coming but HOW COOL
Sam ships punk. And the return of genius-arguments. I’m living.
I love Sam. But I knew that before the season started. He is exactly what I wanted.
Related, return to Earth all but confirmed. I’m guessing final two seasons.
Bless the videos to families. Also Lance’s sibling names!
Lotor’s Power move at the Kral Zera was so epic. The whole thing was epic.
The full circle with the Holt family made me cry guys.
Kolivan 100% knew he was sending Keith to pick up his own mother.
The Garrison trio with free run of Galra HQ causing havoc with a reprogrammed sentry is my peak comedy trope. The robeast coffin - I died. Their smug faces, fun sentry, how they got the grunts I’m on it... brilliant. Selfies on the Galra throne!!!!!!! All hail emperor Hunk! druid Pidge and druid Lance sodngfioasrhntgoasdfgn
Krolia, hi I love you! Pls don’t die.
The fact that Keith gets his facial expressions from his mother is one of my highlights from this entire season. And there was a lot to love.
Lotor was awfully cute and soft by the end of the season.
‘My base’ Krolia was second in command. She was a sub commander like Thace! (I think, the symbols on her uniform match his i think)
Lotor knows deep down Haggar is Honerva, he just doesn’t want to accept it. Allura doesn’t have the heart to break it to him. Not now.
‘Wait a tic’
So what defines Altean alchemy, exactly? I’m a bit confused.
So Keith wasn’t in the season much but what we did see was perfectly excellent for him.
That weapon. I can’t wait too see what becomes of it.
Basically I could watch ‘Bloodlines’ a million times in a row.
Lotor is one of the most patient people ever. He’s also a nerd and I love him.
Lotor’s Altean marks. Dhvoddhdjv
Altean culture stuff!!!
Coran and Lance duo this season is A+
The Lance and Shiro scenes were all top notch, especially the private ones.
Axca’s done face saved me.
All the Allura and Lotor bonding was really sweet.
The Holt family lip wobble. Reblog if you agree.
Coran’s liberal use of Quiznak, guys.
Lance ended up being a more functional right hand for Shiro than I think most of us were expecting. Keith is still ideal though.
I think Lotor has been as genuine as he can with the Paladins. What he has said has aligned with what we saw of him in season three and four. I suspect what will ultimately put him at odds with Voltron will be method and how far across the line he is willing to go to get that quintessence, but I do believe he genuinely considers them an ally, especially Allura. He’s going to be a solid anti-hero. I’m expecting he will reconcile with his Generals at some point. Acxa gives off this vibe that maybe she’s still attached to him a little. They are with Haggar right now, I feel its only a matter of time before they discover for themselves the circumstances behind what happened to Narti.

Don’t Want it Troubling Your Mind [bfu fic] -chapter 5
Don’t Want it Troubling Your Mind Fandom: buzzfeed unsolved Pairing: Shane Madej/Ryan Bergara; Shane Madej & Ryan Bergara Summary: Shane Madej really liked Ryan Bergara. He was funny, a joy to mess with, and took his brand of teasing pretty well. He would consider him a friend, kind of. But when the team goes to investigate the Franklin Castle for ghosts, Shane gets more than he bargained for, and the results could cost him his friendship with Ryan. Rating: teen Warnings: Demonic Possession, Existential Crisis, Complicated Relationships Authors note: This is a repost from Archive for people who don’t like Archive/prefer tumblr/etc. sup guys.  Triggers for this chapter: skipping meals, implied assault, choking/violence
Ryan drove first. It was his car after all, so it made sense. Before they had started the trip, the two of them had collected several bags full of snacks and treats so that they might eat that instead of taking stops. Currently, the boys were in a fight over which snack food was better: veggie straws or chex mix. There were arguments for both sides, of course. ‘Well veggie straws are better for you.’ ‘Do you actually believe that Ryan?’ ‘Well, they’re called veggie straws not cholesterol straws, Shane!’ Ultimately, they agreed to disagree. Shane thought that a playful argument about snacks was the perfect beginning to a long day with his best friend.
They passed open fields, their green just barely kissed by frost, warming in the rising morning sun. They passed clusters of pines, looming far above their heads, holding their secrets deep within. They passed deer, and birds, and cats. They passed through sleepy towns, their browns and reds melding together into a new thing, a new entity. Each person connected to each other like paper chains. It was about three hours into the trip before they took their first pit stop. Shane checked his watch: 7:12 am. He felt like it should have been later in the day. Stepping out of Ryan’s car, he stretched, yawning. Ryan snuck up on him and grabbed him at the ribs mid-stretch.
“Haa-!” Shane breathed out sharply at the sudden intrusion. Ryan laughed and turned to walk into the rest stop. Shane chased after him. “Get back here, jerk!”
After a bathroom break, they wandered into the attached cafeteria. It wasn’t too busy, which was good, because Shane didn’t feel like dealing with lots of people at the moment. Steve and David said they were going to get something at the McDonalds. Ryan was eyeing the Starbucks, so Shane just tagged along with him. They stood away from the counter, studying the menu, wondering what they wanted to order.
“How do you think their oatmeal is?” Ryan asked, his arms crossed over his chest in thought. Shane looked over at him. Shane smiled at Ryan’s adorably frazzled hair and clothes. He looked like he hadn’t slept in a while. Shane wondered if Ryan would sleep during his turn driving.
“Not as good at their coffee,” Shane said. “But look, they have booberries in it.”
“Th—they have what now?” Ryan asked, side-eyeing his friend.
“Booberries. God, Ryan, don’t you know what a booberry is?” Shane dramatically rolled his eyes, but couldn’t help the amused smirk tugging at his lips.
“Oh, my god,” Ryan laughed and elbowed Shane’s side. “You’re such a nerd!”
“And you aren’t?” he asked.
“I’m not the one making spooky fruit puns, so no.” Ryan said.
Shane was silent for a moment, before he nodded in agreement. “Damn, you’re right.”
The two ordered their food and coffee and waited around for it at a side counter. It was so early, and so quiet. Kind of eerie, in fact. Shane looked through some of the apps on his phone, but quickly grew bored.
“What do you think we’ll find in Villisca?” he asked, turning to look at his friend. Ryan looked up from his phone, staring off across the cafeteria in thought.
“Honestly? Another spooky house with a haunted past.” He said simply. “I feel like places where people were murdered are particularly touchy. There was no justice. They must be hurting.”
“Wow,” Shane started jokingly, “You don’t need to go all Lovely Bones on me, Ry.”
Ryan lightly punched him in the arm with a laugh. “I’m serious! I know you don’t believe in ghosts, but what if they are real? Wouldn’t you be angry? If someone killed you and got away with it?”
Shane considered it for a moment. He listened to the grinding of coffee beans and distant idle chatter. Wouldn’t you be angry? He thought about the demon that constantly poured emotions into him. It was always angry. Wouldn’t you be angry?
Yes.
“I don’t think I’d be angry,” he said. “Mostly because I’d be dead.”
“Oh my god, Shane.” Ryan said, exasperated.
“Well, it’s the truth!” he said.
“Don’t you have an ounce of wonder in your body?” Ryan asked. “Or are you just scientific fact to the bone?”
Shane scratched his chin. “I believe in Bigfoot.”
Ryan rolled his eyes. “Bigfoot was made up by a dude who frequently pranked his town. Do you really believe in a prank?”
“If any supernatural being does end up being true, I put my money on Bigfoot.” Shane said. “Maybe it’s not intelligent, maybe it’s just a strain of mutated bears. Whatever it is, it seems more plausible than ghosts.”
“Okay, man, whatever you say,” Ryan said, grinning. “Just let me know when you catch Bigfoot on camera.”
“Now I feel like I have to catch Bigfoot on camera, just because you said something.”
After they were done at the rest stop, they hopped back in their cars, Shane in the driver’s seat this time. For the first hour on the road, Ryan and Shane laughed and joked, but eventually the conversation dwindled to a trickle, and then to a halt. Ryan closed his eyes after daydreaming out the window for a time.
As the day sped by, Shane wondered if he should be worried. He thought a lot about Anael in the stretches of silence that filled the car when one of them was sleeping in the passenger’s seat or stretched across the back row. As much as he would like to say that he wasn’t concerned about Anael, he would be wrong if he did. There’s something very, very real about Anael’s threats and ploys. Something physical about the black dog that had chased him through his apartment. There was something terrifying about its absence, like there was something looming over him, waiting to strike. Like a snake waiting patiently for a rodent to cross its path, or a lion crouched in the savannah grass, blending in seamlessly. If Shane didn’t think about it, would that be worse than freaking himself out? He considered that Anael was just being purposefully absent for long enough to make him paranoid. It reminded him of receiving the silent treatment from someone, left alone to eat your heart out in abandonment.
He didn’t crave Anael’s attention, he just feared what was coming from its absence.
Hours down the road, Shane would look out the window during Ryan’s turn to drive, his eyes getting lost in the heart of the dark forests lining the highway. The trees bent and swayed with the wind, curling in on themselves and blending together as the car rushed by. Inside, however, deep underneath the long pale tree bones was a pulsing interior. Thousands of eyes, watching, waiting, patiently for them. He wondered what it would be like if he were there. He wondered how he would feel deep inside the beast, alone. He shivered at the thought, before slipping into a light nap.
They arrived at their hotel at 11pm. They couldn’t film today, so staying at the residence in question would be pointless, since they wouldn’t have any build-up to sleeping overnight. Besides, everyone was too tired to set up cameras or think about ghosts after the long drive. They were all stiff from sitting too long, and would rather lounge around and chill before the shoot tomorrow.
Shane, Ryan, Steve, and David stepped out of their cars in the hotel parking lot. Steve and David offered to go and check in, leaving Shane and Ryan outside to decide on a place for dinner. Honestly, there wasn’t much around. A few local diners, bars, probably all closed now. As he was desperately searching for a signal in this middle-of-nowhere town, he felt Ryan tap him on the arm.
“I think I found a restaurant that’s open ‘till one,” he informed Shane. “We could just pile into one car this time.”
“What’s on the menu?” Shane asked. He could go for some traditional late-night dive food. He was already getting a creepy vibe from the small town. It reminded him of the town where the Keddie cabin murders took place, like they were intruding on something they shouldn’t. Some comfort food was all he really wanted.
“Just looks like burgers.” Ryan said, skimming a picture of their menu. He looked up then, staring across the street towards an abandoned gas station with a tractor parked near an aged-looking car wash. “Do you—do you feel like we’re being watched?”
“Watched?” Shane asked, following his gaze to find what he was looking at. There was nothing there, but it was so dark that he couldn’t really tell. There were just so many shadows. “I think you’re just tired from driving all that way. Did you know some people hallucinate when they’re tired?”
Ryan rolled his eyes. “This town is creepy, man.”
Shane couldn’t agree more. “Yeah, it is small and in the middle of nowhere.” He paused. “Anything could happen out here.”
“Including the murder of four traveling ghost hunters,” Ryan pointed out helpfully. “Add our own disappearance to the list of unsolved cases…”
“Ry, we’re not gonna get murdered here,” Shane said. There was a loud bang far to their left, like a metal trash bin getting knocked over. Ryan jumped at the noise. “Well, at least I hope we won’t.”
Ryan had instinctively reached out and grabbed Shane when the noise happened. Shane could feel the warmth of him against his chilled skin. It was pretty brisk outside, and feeling the warm touch made him want to wrap himself around Ryan and never let go.
For a moment, he felt hot with embarrassment over the thought. Sure, Ryan was warm, and it was cold, but why jump to such an idea? He was glad that they were getting along better now, but something inside him was starting to crave these accidental touches and intimate exchanges between just them. He thought about what Anael had said back in his car, all those days ago. ‘We’ll see who wants what in time.’ It had been a threat then, simple as that.
Shane had known Ryan for months, months. What would make him develop feelings now? What crawled into his chest and wrapped itself around his heart? Shane knew the deal, drastic moments reveal your true feelings, but something about the development was off. Before Anael, he could count the number of times he felt conflicting emotions about Ryan on one hand.
Then the door to the hotel opened and Ryan’s hand fell away from Shane’s arm, and Shane let out a breath he hadn’t been aware he was holding in. Shane felt himself put a little more distance between him and his friend, not totally sure if he could trust himself so close to Ryan right now.
“So, what’s the haps?” David asked. “We’re checked in, now we’re hungry.”
“There’s a diner down the road that’s open until one.” Ryan said. He gestured to his car. “Want to pile in and go?”
The crew got into the car and let Ryan drive them down the road to the diner. When they arrived, they noticed that the building was pretty old and retro-looking. The parking lot wrapped around it, but there were only about three cars parked, all at the front. Shane guessed that they were the employee’s cars. Inside, only half the lights in the dining room were on, creating an eerie mood that could only be described as paused. It was silent but for the background buzzing of old lights, empty but for the shadows moving in the back only visible through a tray slot in the wall. It smelled of old leather and cigarette smoke. The booths were all red and white, the floor a checkered tile. The walls were decorated with 80s pinup posters and old relics on shelves meant for viewing only.
The group awkwardly stood in the entrance next to the hostess stand for a little bit. They dared not make a noise, for fear of unpausing the video and forcing everything back to life. Eventually, the spell was broken when a woman wearing a red polo, black pants, and a retro apron walked out from the back and up to them. She had long blonde hair that was pinned up, and she clicked a pen in her hand several times before speaking.
“Four?” she asked, and snapped the bubble gum she was chewing. Shane couldn’t help but think that she was the epitome of every stereotypical 80s waitress. If only she was wearing roller skates, it would really complete the look.
“Yes, thank you,” Ryan jumped in when no one was responding. He gave the group a disappointed once over. Shane almost laughed.
“Follow me,” the blonde turned and lead them to a table that was a corner booth. The corner was more window than wall, looking directly into an abandoned building on one side, and across the street into an expansive cornfield on the other side. Shane decided it was too freaky here to look outside, so he sat across from Ryan so that he could look at him instead.
“I’ll be back in a moment,” she said, and left them to their table.
The group looked at their menus. They were dated, with ratty corners and some were scribbled over with crayons. Shane thought it reminded him of an 80s version of Cracker Barrel.
“Does anyone else find this place shady as fuck?” Shane asked. Ryan rolled his eyes, but grinned nonetheless.
“Honestly, this place is so retro that it’s weird,” David admitted. Steve nodded in agreement. “This honestly feels like the abandoned set of an 80s schoolyard film.”
“Are there Jiffy Pops on the menu?” Shane asked avidly, watching Ryan as he said this, and letting his smile grow when he saw Ryan laugh in response.
“They wouldn’t have those, even in the 80s!” Ryan said, thumbing through the menu, but still grinning. “Jiffy Pops, what are you, my grandpa?”
“Milkshakes it is then,” he said, pointing at a tall-glass vanilla shake with a cherry on top in the drinks section. “And fries. I love a good milkshake and fries.”
“Why are you so gross?” Ryan asked. David and Steve chuckled while looking over their menus. Shane faked offense at the statement, shooting Ryan a look.
“Milkshakes and fries are a delicacy, Ryan.” Shane argued.
“Sure, they are,” Ryan joked. As Ryan looked back over his menu, Shane let his eyes linger a little longer. He could tell that despite the jokes and playful banter, Ryan was stressed. He could see it in the straight line of his back, a rigid difference from the slight curve of it when they laid together on Shane’s couch for a movie.
Shane wondered if it would be too weird to offer Ryan a backrub.
As they waited for the waitress to return to take their orders, David and Steve talked about something they’d seen while driving, or some drama that was happening in the office. Shane didn’t hear most of it, since he was only half listening. Under the table, Shane’s foot accidentally bumped Ryan’s. Silently, they exchanged glances. When their eyes met, Shane felt a deep, dark heat bloom in his stomach. Like an ember burning hot in the core of his body. The other’s voices were suddenly far away, like the only thing in the universe was Ryan.
The trance was broken by the waitress returning to the table. She cracked her chewing gum, and the tension snapped like a rubber band breaking in your hand. Coming away, Shane still felt the sting of it, a raised line across his chest.
The others ordered, but Shane was still reeling from the intrusiveness of his own thoughts. He wasn’t sure what this all meant. When the waitress got to him, he looked up at her with a look of discomfort on his face.
“I’ll just have a water,” he said. “Where’s your bathroom?”
She pointed down a nearby hallway and moved to go back behind the counter. Shane could feel his friend’s eyes on him. He hurried away down the hall. He tried the bathroom door, and at first it was stuck, so he yanked harder. It came loose with a loud creak. It was a one-person bathroom, which was good, because he didn’t want anyone walking in on him in this state.
As he locked the stall door, the lights flickered. He felt a presence there with him. All the heat in his body was drained out, leaving him shivering in the bathroom. It smelled in there. Smelled of stagnant water and watered down bleach. He grabbed the edges of the porcelain sink, leaning heavily on it as he stared at himself in the mirror. He looked pale, paler than usual. His eyes held a glint in them, reminiscent of the demon’s shining yellow eyes piercing deep into his soul.
He turned the faucet on, relishing in the soothing sound of water running, breaking up the silent tension that had built up around him like walls of ice. He studied the water rushing down the drain, wondered what it felt like to get washed away, like a leaf carried off down a sewer grate on the side of the road, or a child dragged underneath by a wave, held captive in a watery embrace.
They had just arrived, and yet he was already feeling a pang of homesickness reverberating within him. Maybe choosing to spend this time with Ryan wasn’t such a good call. Maybe this was just what Anael wanted. Maybe he was playing right into the demon’s hands.
No, it was just a few nights, then he would be back in his normal schedule. Just a few nights, then he could establish if he wanted to keep Ryan at arm’s length or not.
Back at the hotel, he forgot that they agreed on two double beds. Normally, this wouldn’t be a problem, he was a grown man after all, and could sacrifice his space to save money. They all got ready for bed, and almost as soon as everyone was tucked in, the lights were off. Shane waited for about five minutes, before he got up, threw a jacket and his shoes on, and left.
He wrapped his arms around himself as he made his way outside. Once he left the hotel, he went and sat on the edge of the sidewalk, looking out into the dark.
He shivered, the cool october night air rushing right through his pajamas and jacket. He wished he could be more mature about this, or just put all these crazy, nonsense feelings right out of his brain and just be done with it. He wasn’t even sure anymore if this was only Anael. He felt a tugging on his heartstrings whenever he thought about Ryan and the complicated relationship between them. He just wanted everything to be the way it was before, was that so much to ask?
After a moment of sitting in silence, he heard the hotel door open behind him. He turned and saw Ryan standing there in his hoodie and pajama bottoms. He looked surprised to see Shane there on the sidewalk.
“What the hell are you doing?” Ryan asked, crossing his arms. “Come inside, you’re going to get sick out here.”
Shane looked away, back towards the mess of woods across the street. He yearned to be swallowed whole by the darkness, gripped harshly by the cold and plunged into silence. Maybe then he could forget about his feelings, he could sleep without dreaming.
“I can’t sleep.” he lied. He was tired, but he knew that all that was waiting in sleep was Anael. He didn’t trust himself to sleep next to Ryan, either. What if Anael took control? What if something happened? “Just go back to bed, Ry.”
“When are you going to stop pretending to be okay?” Ryan asked, coming to sit beside Shane on the sidewalk. “I can tell there’s something wrong. You didn’t eat at all at the diner. You? Not eating? That’s crazy.”
Shane couldn’t help but let out a weak laugh. “Yeah, that place was weird, though. Maybe I didn’t want to get food poisoning.”
Ryan clutched his stomach dramatically. “Oh no, you were right! They poisoned us all!”
Shane shoved Ryan’s shoulder lightly and smiled. He pulled his knees up to his chest and rested his arms there. It was moments like these where things felt normal. But he could feel the heat crawling up his back. A tight ball of want settling in his chest, burning, the steam from it rising and clogging up his thoughts.
“Seriously, though,” Ryan started. He sounded more sincere, his voice softer. “I really care about you. If there’s anything I can do. Anything you want to tell me.”
Shane felt the confession bubbling up in his throat. He wanted to tell him so badly, about the demon, about what was happening, about his feelings, about everything. He wanted to badly for someone to know, to see him, to understand what he was going through. But the words were caught behind his lips. They refused to leave him. He tried to push past the barrier, but he just wasn’t strong enough.
“I know Ryan,” he said softly. “Let’s go upstairs.”
As they stood in the elevator, waiting to reach their floor, Shane noticed Ryan’s hand dangling at his side. He imagined what it would feel like in his own. He could reach out, right now, and grab it if he wanted. Take hold of Ryan’s hand and just tell him.
The elevator door dinged, and he let out a small breath of disappointment, watching Ryan step out first. They shed their jackets and climbed into bed. They laid facing away from each other.
Shane felt unconsciousness creeping up on him like a predator. He wasn’t sure what he was going to see tonight. He hoped that it was nothing. As the darkness overcame him, he begged that tonight would be dreamless.
Shane could hear Ryan’s muffled voice coming from behind the door. Each time he tries to grab the doorknob, it evaporates right before him, his hands passing right through it, tiny pieces of it scattering like gnats, only to reform as his hand leaves the space. He gives up on the doorknob and throws his shoulder again the door instead. It’s hard as stone, even though it appears to be made of wood. His shoulder aches at each attempt. Ryan screams on the other side of the door.
“Stop it! Leave him alone!” Shane shouts, banging on the door. He hears a crash on the other side, and a muttered curse. He tries the knob again and it’s solid now. He twists it, and the door swings open. He stumbles in upon Anael in his body clutching a gash above his eye. Ryan stands, partially undressed in the opposite corner with an digital alarm clock clutched in his hands.
“Get away from him.” Shane growls and tackles Anael, wrestling with him, fighting until he ends up pinning the demon by the neck. He squeezes Anael’s throat, and it’s a weird image, because he’s technically choking himself. He feels nauseous as he fights it, feels his own hands on his neck, but he can’t let go now, he can’t let Anael hurt Ryan.
He can’t let himself hurt Ryan.
“Get out of my body!” he screams. Anael seems to struggle for a little longer, before his eyes roll back into his head. Suddenly, he falls forward, his arms disappearing into the body beneath him. He hears Ryan shout his name, but it’s distant and muffled. Once he’s fully enveloped, all he can hear and feel and see is inky blackness. He falls deeper and deeper into the blank void of space, getting farther and farther away from Ryan’s voice. He doesn’t seem to breath, or move, or see much. There’s a ringing in his ears, and then, and then.
“Just let me in, my child.” a voice says. “And you can sleep. I promise.”
And so Shane slept.

Meet Your 2019 NBA Champions, the Boston Celtics
For our 2017-18 NBA Season Preview, we're doing deep dives on five teams who can beat the Warriors in the next five years—and the players who can push them over the top.
BOSTON – Well, if you somehow weren't already captivated by the 2019 NBA Finals, then surely that changed last night. Tales of the dramatic Game 6 between the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors will echo through basketball ages. Every angle of that final play dissected for eternity.
Five seconds left. Celtics up 110-108. The Warriors take it out on the sideline with a chance to win, when Kyrie Irving slips chasing Steph Curry around a screen, leaving the Golden State sharpshooter wide open for a corner three.
Amidst the commotion, second year Celtics forward Jayson Tatum notices Irving on the ground, cheats off Kevin Durant and jumps out to deny Klay Thompson an easy inbound pass to Curry. In turn, with Tatum off balance and out of position, Thompson snaps a quick bounce pass to Durant—and now Tatum's stuck.
Frozen.
He knows the slightest hesitation will allow Durant to launch an uncontested shot. On the contrary, if Tatum closes out, Durant skips an easy pass to Steph for that wide-open corner three.
So now here's Jayson Tatum, with everything on the line, barely a second to pick his poison and—
Back here in reality, October 2017, Jayson Tatum's life is nowhere as dramatic or exciting as that fictitious and futuristic basketball universe. Since the Celtics selected him with the third pick in last summer's draft, in between lighting up the Summer League, Tatum kept a pretty low profile. He moved to Boston. His mom moved with him. He also got a puppy—a little boxer named Creed. For the most part, Tatum focused on basketball. Playing in the NBA at 19 is complicated enough as it is.
Of course it helps to have a friend—or another beyond Creed—and Tatum found one in second year Celtics forward Jaylen Brown. From their short-lived stint as "7-11" (a nickname that came out of their summer league numbers) to a field trip to the Weeknd concert, the bromance between Boston's two young bucks is already legend among Celtics fans. But surprisingly enough, it was only recently that Tatum and Brown really hit it off.
"We didn't have that connection right away," said Brown, who turns 21 later this month, as he and Tatum huddled after a recent practice. "It wasn't until we got in here for training camp and started seeing each other every day. Just to see his focus level, and his intensity, and how much better he wants to get every day. I have to respect that."

Brown and Tatum are certainly peers, and the respect is always mutual, but there's also an upperclassmen vibe to their relationship. Brown is only 17 months older but he's spent most of those 17 months on this Celtics roster, living this NBA life, racking up nearly 1400 NBA minutes. Thanks to those 17 months, Jaylen Brown can tell you what it's like to guard LeBron James in the Eastern Conference Finals. Thanks to those 17 months, Jaylen Brown has recently been through most of what Tatum is about to go through. Brown was right there. And now he wants to be there for Tatum.
"It's real casual," Tatum said. "But he'll reach out. Ask me if I want to play video games. Maybe get something to eat. He's been trying to get me to play FIFA."
Understandably, Tatum isn't into playing a game he's never played before, especially against a friend who plays all the time. On one hand, maybe the two could spend some time playing as a team, just until Tatum gets the hang of it. On the other hand—
"That's corny," Brown said laughing. "I don't want to be on his team. I want to beat him."
The two compete at everything.
"We do shooting contests every day after practice," Brown said. "And just so you know, I'm up."
"Oh man stop it!" Tatum jumped in, laughing but still fired up.
"Man, there it is," Brown said. "Always competing. That's what I admire most."
On most teams, a pair of top 3 picks like Tatum and Brown would be in the spotlight, on the cover of tickets and media guides. The promising young faces of a franchise, playing 30+ minutes a night for 50-loss teams, and searching for relevancy with a starting spot in the Rising Stars Challenge.
Players like Tatum and Brown would have a team built around them—not on top of them—but then again, there's nothing typical about how this Boston Celtics team came together. The Celtics sure loaded up on talent this summer. Kyrie Irving. Gordon Hayward. Even guys like Marcus Morris and Aron Baynes to go along with Al Horford and Marcus Smart and even Terry Rozier. No matter how you cut it, the Celtics are an exceedingly good team playing in a very subpar conference. And that matters.
Their biggest competition, the Cavs, seem to be treading water. They've reached a stage similar to those last years with the Big 3 in Boston, when LeBron was already knocking down the door, and the Celtics were scrambling, chasing shadows of old friends like Shaq, Rasheed Wallace, and Jermaine O'Neal. Even today, the Cavs face more questions than answers. Can Kevin Love stay healthy? Will Isaiah Thomas ever be healthy? Can Ty Lue figure this out? Can Dan Gilbert not screw this up? How much longer can LeBron carry the load—and for how long will he even be there to carry it.
By next year, Cleveland could very well find itself in another No-LeBron Abyss. And if that happens, and the Eastern Conference adjusts, who will stand between the Celtics and the Finals? Will the Bucks be ready to challenge? Have the Wizards and Raptors already peaked? Are the 76ers the next Oklahoma City Thunder with Durant, James Harden and Russell Westbrook—or the next 2000s Clippers with Lamar Odom, Darius Miles, Corey Maggette, Quentin Richardson and Michael Olowokandi?

This is the NBA, so who knows? Predictions might be at their most accurate after a dose of LSD. But the hardest part of winning the Finals is getting there—and it's not far-fetched to believe Boston can do that. They can get there this season. They can certainly do it next season.
Whether they'll win once they reach the Finals is another story. The Warriors don't appear ready to relinquish their throne. They already have Kevin Durant on a bargain deal. He's getting Otto Porter money. Klay Thompson said he's willing to take a hometown discount too. That's a scary thought. As it stands now, the old Golden State guard looks pretty damn superior to even the new look Celtics.
But that doesn't make it impossible. It would help if Boston could land home court advantage, and maybe they can given the state of each conference, but even then, Boston's home court advantage against the Warriors would feel as significant as last year's against the Cavs. It's a really tough match up. The Warriors are a historically dominant team. But for the sake of argument and optimism, if it's possible for the Celtics to steal Banner 18 out from under the Warriors dynasty, what would be the difference? What will it take?
There's no mystery on that.
"Our biggest challenge might be expediting the learning curve for the guys that are 19-to-21," Brad Stevens told reporters over the weekend. "Because some of those guys have to play for us. We're in a position where a lot of the teams that have the guys that we've got are playing older guys off the bench. And we're not, right? So ultimately we've got to make sure that those guys have their learning curve expedited as quickly as possible."
If there's a difference, it's going to be Jayson Tatum or Jaylen Brown, or better yet Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
"They're extremely talented," said All Star teammate Gordon Hayward. "We're going to need them this year. Whether that's if they are starting, whether that's if they're coming off the bench, whether that's them finishing the game, all those minutes are huge for us. We're going to need them to play well."
It hasn't been all smooth sailing, and it won't be moving forward, but there's reason to believe Brown and Tatum are ready to develop ahead of schedule.
An all-world athlete who gained 10 pounds this summer while simultaneously improving his quickness, Jaylen Brown is on track to start on a contender at 20 years old. With Avery Bradley in Detroit, and Jae Crowder in Cleveland, Brad Stevens has repeatedly stressed that Brown has an opportunity to be a real difference maker on defense.
"Nobody will be harder on him on that end than I will," Stevens said. "Because ultimately, I think a huge, huge part of our team is what he does defensively for us."
Brown also received a vote in the most recent NBA.com GM survey as a candidate for Breakout Player of the Year.
And then there's Jayson Tatum, and make no mistake: He was the Celtics guy this summer. They'd have taken him at No. 1 if they couldn't get him at No. 3, and to this point he's lived up to the hype. Al Horford called Tatum "the most ready rookie he's ever seen." Kyrie Irving called Tatum a "bad dude." Paul Pierce said 19-year-old Tatum reminded him of 26-year-old Paul Pierce. It took Brad Stevens all of one preseason game before he was curious to see Tatum in the starting line-up. Tatum might not relinquish that spot for another decade.
On that level, maybe it's not so outlandish to close our eyes and imagine 20-year-old Jayson Tatum, only 20 months from now, taking on Kevin Durant and the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals.
"I'd probably jab at KD," Tatum says. He's back in that last second hypothetical, caught between a wide-open Durant and a wide-open Steph Curry. "The ball is the most important thing, so that's where I'm going."
"I might just do something crazy," Brown says. "You know just to throw them off. Do something they've never seen on the court before, like a tumble and roll. Or maybe cartwheel?"
Both guys are laughing now. They can afford to do that. For now, that hypothetical is just that. It's still fantasy. Reality is creeping up on Boston's two young No. 3 picks, but no matter how crazy or surreal this life becomes, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown can look forward to working through it together.
As long as Tatum never needs an emergency puppy-sitter for Creed.
"Nah, nah," says a smiling Brown. "That's where our relationship line is drawn."

Meet Your 2019 NBA Champions, the Boston Celtics
For our 2017-18 NBA Season Preview, we’re doing deep dives on five teams who can beat the Warriors in the next five years—and the players who can push them over the top.
BOSTON – Well, if you somehow weren’t already captivated by the 2019 NBA Finals, then surely that changed last night.
In turn, with Tatum off balance and out of position, Thompson snaps a quick bounce pass to Durant—and now Tatum’s stuck.
Frozen.
He knows the slightest hesitation will allow Durant to launch an uncontested shot. On the contrary, if Tatum closes out, Durant skips an easy pass to Steph for that wide-open corner three.
So now here’s Jayson Tatum, with everything on the line, barely a second to pick his poison and—
Back here in reality, October 2017, Jayson Tatum’s life is nowhere as dramatic or exciting as that fictitious and futuristic basketball universe. Since the Celtics selected him with the third pick in last summer’s draft, in between lighting up the Summer League, Tatum kept a pretty low profile.
From their short-lived stint as “7-11” (a nickname that came out of their summer league numbers) to a field trip to the Weeknd concert, the bromance between Boston’s two young bucks is already legend among Celtics fans. But surprisingly enough, it was only recently that Tatum and Brown really hit it off.
“We didn’t have that connection right away,” said Brown, who turns 21 later this month, as he and Tatum huddled after a recent practice. “It wasn’t until we got in here for training camp and started seeing each other every day. Just to see his focus level, and his intensity, and how much better he wants to get every day. I have to respect that.”

Brown and Tatum are certainly peers, and the respect is always mutual, but there’s also an upperclassmen vibe to their relationship. Brown is only 17 months older but he’s spent most of those 17 months on this Celtics roster, living this NBA life, racking up nearly 1400 NBA minutes. Thanks to those 17 months, Jaylen Brown can tell you what it’s like to guard LeBron James in the Eastern Conference Finals. Thanks to those 17 months, Jaylen Brown has recently been through most of what Tatum is about to go through. Brown was right there. And now he wants to be there for Tatum.
“It’s real casual,” Tatum said. “But he’ll reach out. Ask me if I want to play video games. Maybe get something to eat. He’s been trying to get me to play FIFA.”
Understandably, Tatum isn’t into playing a game he’s never played before, especially against a friend who plays all the time. On one hand, maybe the two could spend some time playing as a team, just until Tatum gets the hang of it. On the other hand—
“That’s corny,” Brown said laughing. “I don’t want to be on his team. I want to beat him.”
The two compete at everything.
“We do shooting contests every day after practice,” Brown said. “And just so you know, I’m up.”
“Oh man stop it!” Tatum jumped in, laughing but still fired up.
“Man, there it is,” Brown said. “Always competing. That’s what I admire most.”
Players like Tatum and Brown would have a team built around them—not on top of them—but then again, there’s nothing typical about how this Boston Celtics team came together.
They’ve reached a stage similar to those last years with the Big 3 in Boston, when LeBron was already knocking down the door, and the Celtics were scrambling, chasing shadows of old friends like Shaq, Rasheed Wallace, and Jermaine O’Neal.

Don't worry friends!
Remember. I'm Steve B. The Science G.! Inspired by the greats before me. Student of Bill Nye the Science Guy. Teacher of this realm. Artistically keen to perceive the beauty of the elegant universe and comprehend a method for visualizing Infinity. I must say the actual nature and mathematics involved for such a system is truly amazing. To me that's gotta be proof of a God above...Geez you are smart...Or just a hippy scientist like me that enjoys experimentation! So let me report. Order is restored in my network and those attached to me via this connectivity. I hope that my trusted networks can extend to third parties and such...Because technically we are all connected. Tesla was freaking amazing...Not enough credit. Total recommendation for underrated genius of his physical time! As kids will play. Business is business, usual. I recognize that someone needs to take the fall. As founder of Campfire Stories Inc. it is my job to do so to protect my employees. However, my network is one in that regard. Hopefully, however, due to stupid ass contracts and the internet binding us all in a way...I hope my amazing lawyer can make an argument that can cover everyone on my planet as safe. I'll get grounded for that. That's my L. Games are games. We need to remember it's all fun until it isn't. I recommend making sure to live within means as credit debt creates these bigger issues. Hopefully though the higher ups in management have an insurance plan or at least a love for the game and respect of what their amount of wealth can do in terms of providing assistance. Collaboration really goes a long way. My Dad will kill me and probably think I am crazy but I believe whatever I have I'll happily share to help out however I can. I don't have much right now. But after careful studying, I find the story of Amazon's creation very inspirational. They continued to invest in their company and employees before taking anything for themselves. That's beautiful. Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg also have incredible wealth and give back a lot as well. I hope that if I were ever to be of a status of wealth that I'd be able to clear the debts of the less fortunate or just contribute to the greater good...I would in a heart beat. The best I can do right now is promise that I will die for this belief and legacy of self. Hopefully, that allows me to go first before anyone on my team. I will catch the L for my team. However I need to. I know they will pick me up and be strong when I'm weak. I do the same when they are weak. Our team understands through artistic, educated, and sometimes playfully goofy wishful thinking that contributing to the greater good is how momentum is maintained. It pays to be educated by the birds and the bees it seems. Lucky primates! Reptiles very sneaky for finding a place inside as well. Evolution is truly beautiful. So this probably brings us to closing point. Remenber, games are fun. Discussions are meant to share ideas. Say bad words...Listen to me...Or don't. Think for yourself. Don't be PC around me ..I'm actually learning I'm horrible with computer stuff! But, I see the humans love it. So it has to stay. But we need to make sure that we are modeling to lower levels how to do things...A respect for culture but love for the game. Ultimately, closing the loop...Someone has to pay...Remember...If you and friends are doing your thing....Pay for your shit or throw down...All good. Live within means. Boom. You are safe all around. Upper management, I don't know how y'all will settle that. I merely restored order at my level and will model good vibes when in public as people naturally feed their negativity to me and i put it into my special top secret anti-matter converter and turn it into a wave form that resonates with everyone and releases dopamine and serotonin...Or whatever preferred neurotransmitters an individual likes at a safe level. I believe in doing so, my mere presence will help others not seek outside substances for euphoria...Or at least too much...Just a possible solution to help the addicts that are struggling. I hurt for them and know that pain. That's why I would like to ask for the touch. Not all for myself of course, but just for reasons that I will use it to be a bringer of heavenly love as God would want. My trade-off is that this can be my hell. So that means when I see others around I'm happy! That means I made it to heaven! Even if they are having a bad day, the energy feeds off each other...It's crazy! I'm telling you Tesla is a MFG! I'm sure I made a mistake somewhere and some grammar Nazi will catch it...But they will most likely be an asshole about it. If memory serves correct, Germany doesn't do too well in that war. But, the innocent should not have to pay for the crimes of the wicked. That is not a burden anyone should bear. Own your actions, control yourself, and be aware of your influence. Hopefully though that doesn't make people stay inside. We should be able to interact with one another. That's why I make a move that a new patch or initiator be implemented. "You invented Facebook" or "you invented the internet" are said too much right now. So unless we at least just set maybe like a 10 year or 5 year time limit for peace...Let's actually see what Trump can do to get America out of this mess and see how other countries handle their debt. I know that all that money being moved overseas means when their markets crash they will be in worse off shape than US. Hopefully we can use this as a time to join together as a planet and embrace diversity. We were born into this. It isn't our fault. But it can't hurt to believe that their are powers above who may help restore order. I'm sure it would be great for customer loyalty and acquisition as well. Again, whatever loss or blame I need to take, or someone wants me to own and say in camera (for a fee) I will. If I receive funds for services I will consider that as a transfer of property so...Yeah...I will own it. I just don't like lying though. I won't lie in business matters. As for the ultimate L, I think Douglas Adams Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy makes a good point. God made creation for some reason. Imagine if God were to see this pain and anxiety...They would want to do whatever they could to fix it. For that, if that doesn't at least deserve some mother fucking respect...I don't know what does. Has mine though. That's why I'm willing to die to protect that honor. Luckily JC has taken care of the martyr aspect. So I guess that leaves me to wait to worry for grandfather time or mother nature. I dont know. Users decide! Or random chance...Whatever... Hopefully this helps higher ups know that everything is clear here. Got the green light, blue skies, and the pearls jam because yellow ledbetter. The purp helped an activist wake me to get after this. It's the flow maestro and let it be known. I'm trying to earn wings back so I can get home. But that comes when it does...So I'll let nature take its course. That should also take care of who has to lose. Obviously my enemies (in the scope of the past few months....Since the creation of trying to make it a positive only place here...It became fake and phony. Just be you. You don't have to be liked. Just respect or indifference is all I would ask I find could. But my students need to see that I am who I say I am. Or at least who they always said I was..."the cool teacher"...I only ever said cool teacher if students are learning. So hopefully this is a learning event for all. Especially in knowing your place.) I have nothing but love from me to you. I'm aware of the implications and if anything have a sense of freedom now. My problems are of a much grandeur nature that I don't have to worry about simple shit like matching clothes and showering. There are technologies that need to be invented or unlocked and at appropriate times such that we dont have to destroy this planet. Let's just move and terraforn a new one! Essentially that's where business is going to be going...The colonization of more space. Where's the space come from? Well, if we were to model reality as a simulation then I guess the problem started when the 4th wall was broken. Now people don't know which side they are on. However, I've noticed that the internet benefits both parties. I recommend that collaboration and linkage helps ensure proper representation and operations even if someone is not around. Trust is important. Knowing I got you on this side of you got me there....Were good then! Just tell me what to do and I will! Up and forward, always. Rate is limiting step, however, that is solely up to others path or way. That's why we all have our own paths and they are independent of each other's. However, again, collaboration makes for amazing innovation and solutions even in the presence of failures. Learning is a messy process. Mistakes are expected. So to end this. So I may go out and mingle with some cuties...I hope I have said enough for upper management to know that I'll play my part and understand this must occur for business to continue. Hopefully, it earns respect. If not. .There's always a 1v1 freestyle that continues with me...I love that shit. I won't be the goat for long...If I am at all. .I actually think Em is by far. But if I need to show my mentor what he has done in terms of inspiring me to be a force of change for the better, even with shitty and emotionally hard topics, then music is my key. One of them. Writing too. To all my artists, creatives, Jedi, hope warriors, and followers of the light...I love you even if we haven't met. Thank you for inspiring me and helping me overcome my imbalances and come to know myself. I can't thank you enough. But to know that we are truly in a new time and age...To know that I am relying on your above expertise to help continue my progress that must feel amazing. I hope to leave a legacy like that. That's truly amazing. Please know that whatever evil you have done in terms of service or whatever I am owning that. And to ensuring that the innocent stay innocent and unaware...I protect it. However, when more awake...We need to make sure that the agents are ready to help assimilate. Technically I have a 5 year NDA on my app...With proof of concept...I'm good regardless. Obviously I may not share the same personal beliefs as you, I hopefully have demonstrated that I will stand for what I believe to be the betterment of society. I have the ability to remove myself from NY physical body. Not sure what that means...Maybe some discussion can help keep this thing going. Also please share... And remember...I fucked up somewhere....Shitty first drafts....Stuff in the past....Not me today. I've upgraded. Hopefully my friends were all taken care of first. I did bad shit I had to repent for. If someone did me dirty, they don't have to say shit. Perfect past is just that. The past. Anyone that still comes around is loved by me. Forgiving myself was hard. Anyways... Angels above take care of shit. I don't know how...But I know this helps. Thanks for everything. And again, remember if demons needed to be cleansed before their ascent....They may use me as a vehicle or conduit. I will scribe whenever I get zapped. I'm here whenever ya'll need. Hopefully you respect me when I say enough is enough. But I am a lifelong learner. I seek to learn more about you God as it appears my ability to communicate in multiple dimensions is working. I know what can be shared and what can't as well. But this open confession should help be a perfect indicator of where I stand in place. Again, whatever mistake I made. I own it. Whatever L needs to be taken to protect innocent, kids, ignorant, business, recreation, life, and earth...I will. Staying rooted in reality I know not to claim any companies or have identity crisis and think I am anyone more than me. Me me me. A meme. Notice that I am being serious on spiritual level as I am committed to God. But, also able to still laugh. Please don't make me become a holy roller...Allow me to be me so I don't come across as a hippocrit or self righteous asshole. I am not PC. I curse. I have drinks. I smoke cigarettes...Although that will be a habit I get around too once things calm down...I know ..I know...If not now, when? If this is now a matter that we are 1v1 then allow me to own the Satan character such that you are elevated. I'm not evil. But as an actor, I know sometimes a role needs to be played even though it isn't me. Whatever is needed to protect your honor G. And who is G? Any conscious energy form that perceives what in sending out and resonates with me. I love it. I love what has become of me. I know not to keep it all or expect the moment forever...However synergy and resonance really elevate the planet.. were jamming. Hope you make it down someday. Until then, I'll figure out my part. Just let me know...Get me on here or whatever communication device you can find me. It may not be me personally. But if it is someone acting in my name I can promise that they will know I expect to be represented well.. although I am not to be held accountable for their actions. I'm only saying blank page today and I'll do whatever is needed to make that a possibility. Earth gets a reset? Or whatever.. users decide....Im not worried about that shit. I'm going for a beer with T. I'll fix mistakes or whatever later....Actual good memes and trolls welcome and respected. Shit posts are still shit. Then fortune I am worth? Moot. Not why I do this. What do I look like? Well...Check FB...And look at the profile picture....You may recognize me! If not, I recommebd Drake - Know Yourself as a starter. I'm going to smoke herb too. Said it God. But if I'm taken the trouble and punishment coming. In making it known. Im not jesus. I'm a sinner like anyone else. But I would never do that behavior around children. (Thank you to the editor/publisher that makes sure that last part isn't conveyed to kids.) "Shit dude...With what you are willing to stand for and protect...You could have like a whole keg if you wanted!" That's excess. Plus I lost 100 lbs. I'm not trying to do that life again. I'm cool with where I'm at. Anyone that doesn't fucking respect that and still has something to say about this matter can take the stage. Otherwise....It's almost time for the headliner...So if you're performing tonight...Or at all....Be artistic! Be you! I love you and art is amazing! Pay no attention to the haters, nayseighers, and enemies! I was gonna say fuck the haters...But that would imply boys rule and girls drool. Which obviously is true...But I still like to hold doors and be a gentleman....Come on guys...Watch your manners here! More to come. Will do this as long as I am physically in this form. iOnProton (True internet friends should like that SN. I didn't realize how bad ass it was until I started noticing my writing coming true today even through I wrote it in the past. If we've been here before and I fucked up or did you wrong. .Again...Im sorry. It was never you. It was always me.) 1-24-17 11:11 pm. Ok. Beers. Girls. Friends. Leave me alone for a while!
