So what I get is that most fans are spreading rumors about clown being hacked or putting words in his mouth, and some are treating him like a child who needs to be protected at all cost (which is kinda creepy behavior). And this is happening because he made a NSFW tag, right? What a way to wake up to.
hello anon! yes, you've hit the nail on the head - i'm so sorry that this was what you woke up to! it certainly had my heart rate up for a bit 😭💖 here's the situation (apologies for the long post):
Clown has now made an official separate tag for NSFW content, #PlayfellowXXX. this is excellent! much like Toby Fox did with the #Undertail tag, NSFW fanworks creators now have a separate space to place their work, meaning that individuals who don't want to see that content don't need to.
Wally Darling and Frank Frankly Voice Actor F. Frankie Frankenstein confirmed that this was real, and a decision made by the Welcome Home team.
this was quickly corroborated by Clown, who said that they have not been hacked, and he just needed some time to adjust to all of the new attention. they also found the whole outcry quite funny!
after this, Welcome Home team member Anonymous Puzzler also said that this was a mutual decision between the team, and specifically said that it wasn't coerced in any way. she also confirmed that NSFW was never prohibited in the first place - it was just asked to be private while they worked everything out.
during this time, there were a variety of reactions from people. many were elated; some were confused; others were angry and/or upset. some believed Clown was hacked; others believed he was coerced; others acknowledged its veracity, but were saddened/angered all the same.
to recap: NSFW content has never been banned, according to the Welcome Home team: they just wanted time to work out the best way to protect younger people and those who don't want to see that kind of content in an enormous fandom. the team's preference is now for all Welcome Home NSFW content to go under the tag #PlayfellowXXX. this is a decision Clown and the team have reached organically, without coercion, and for the betterment of the fandom.
there is a significant portion of folks who are distressed by this news, and who are assigning thoughts and feelings onto Clown without knowing him personally. i don't think this is terribly healthy. it's okay if you don't like NSFW fanworks; having a separate tag means you can block/blacklist, and not have to see it!
personally, i think this is a wonderful idea. i'm saddened by the backlash NSFW creators are receiving in the wake of this news - especially as someone who received some of that hate, despite never having made NSFW content for Welcome Home!
i'm also baffled by the repeated assertion that Clown has somehow been coerced into this decision by 'porn-addicted weirdos'. the Welcome Home fandom has been extraordinarily respectful of the private NSFW rule...now, it's okay for people to make NSFW content for Welcome Home, guys. we literally got the green light 😅
the creator is an adult, the characters are adults, and it's a horror project which will deal with mature themes. this really is the best way the team could've handled this kind of project suddenly getting an enormous audience with a lot of younger people! no one is 'more deserving' of being in the fandom, and no one is 'better' than anyone else for making or not making a certain kind of fanwork. certainly, no one 'owns' a tag, character, or fandom - it is a courtesy to have a separate space so that people can avoid NSFW content if they want to.
at the end of the day, i hope those who are upset get a chance to rest, and realise this isn't the end of the world. i understand how hard this might be, especially if NSFW content is a real no-go for you. but everyone's fandom experience is different, and i promise you, the NSFW creators aren't making that content just to make you, personally, feel bad! 💖 if you see someone posting in the wrong tag, or who has outdated information, just politely let them know, or mute/block/scroll on as you need to.
now, i realise i'm breaking my own rule about not weighing in on discourse...but i have so many Welcome Home followers and wanted to make this easily accessible 🙏 i hope this clears up any questions people have.
to the NSFW creators - have fun! to those who'd rather not see NSFW content - take care of yourself! i hope you all have a wonderful day :3c

Hi Shae,
This situation's shitty. I'm not gonna talk about it, I just wanted to kinda check in I guess? Ask if you're okay.
And also, send some kind words to you. Stars know we all need some kindness in this time. I love your writing, I love the stories you write, I love seeing you in the comment section of stories I read. Your enthusiasm is contagious and makes me grin! The way you write the characters, with their voices and vibes, is fantastic.
I hope you're doing all right.
(note: I'm tagging this ask and any potential future asks that refer to the Wilbur situation with 'support shelby or die by my sword', so people who want to avoid vent-y and triggering content can blacklist)
You, Anon, are one of the sweetest people ever.
I'm doing okay, all things considered. In an odd way, I'm lucky in that I detached from the CC side of things pretty firmly after Techno's passing and only really stick around for the characters. Still, I've cried. I feel sad and angry and betrayed and hurt, I feel for the victims, and I feel disgusted that somebody who I genuinely thought was a chill and kind and funny person could do something like that.
In a more selfish way, I feel grief. I think this definitely triggered some soft spots left behind by losing Techno. Wilbur is very entwined with a lot of Techno content, SBI as a whole is. And while I'm here for the fictional fandom/character stuff first and foremost, I did like cc!twinduo and cc!sbi as dynamics. So many of my comfort vids that still bring me joy and make me feel close to Techno have Wilbur in them (4/4 content, old mcc vlogs, etc). Now, that all feels stained. I haven't tried rewatching any of it, I don't know if I can. If I do, I'm afraid they won't give me joy anymore. It's like losing another bit of the pieces left behind by Techno and that hurts.
Also, the fading of a community. The Techno/SBI community already very much shrunk after his passing, but I know a lot of fanfic and fanart will be deleted, and a lot of artists/authors might discontinue to make content, which are absolutely valid choices but it does mean loss and loss is always painful, even if it's an understandable and necessary loss.
I'll be fine though. I know there are a lot of people WAY more affected by this than me (thinking about people who were more invested in cc!Wilbur than I ever was, not to mention Wilbur's actual group of friends and such). I'll be alright, I'll pull myself up by my bootstraps and keep trucking.
Thank you for the kind words about my writing too. I hope that my future fics, if you still choose to read them, can continue to bring you that enthusiasm and joy too. And if for you (or anybody else reading this), this means you're saying goodbye to my fic or to the techno/sbi/dsmp community as a whole, I hope you enjoyed your stay. And thank you for everything.

So to start with, if you don't like this blog and the things I post on it, nobody's putting a gun to your head asking you to look at it. Feel free to block me, blacklist my username, block the anti and critical tags I try to use VERY frequently, etc. Nobody's asking you to look at the things I post and, quite honestly, the fact that you felt the need to leave me this message tells me that between the two of us, you're the one being unhealthy because you felt the need to tell someone innocently staying in their own lane that they're participating in fandom wrong rather than just... moving on and doing fandom in a way you enjoy more. If you want to see something else, go look at a different blog or make your own posts. Nobody's stopping you, least of all me.
But to actually answer the question you didn't ask, I made this blog because I wanted a place to make the kind of posts I wanted to see. Yes, it's a venting blog. That means sometimes I vent about the same thing more than once. Breaking news: people in fandom talk about the same hyperfixation more than once sometimes!
My best friend in the Star Wars fandom happens to be someone who really likes Anakin. So whenever I disliked something about Anakin, she was not the person I could go to in order to discuss it. Well, not always anyway. Not when I got particularly bitter about it. And at the time that I made this blog over a year ago, I didn't have anywhere else to go to vent those feelings, so I made one for myself. I made myself a tiny safe haven where I could simply write those feelings out that I never really saw anybody else making or discussing. This wasn't intended to be a popular blog. I expected it to get about two followers total maybe and a LOT of haters.
Instead, I've actually heard from a number of people that this blog let them feel seen. That the things I've written have felt really relatable to people who just can't connect to all of the Anakin love that tends to exist in the fandom. Because yes, Anakin's been the villain since the 1970s, but you must not have spent a lot of time in this fandom because that is NOT a thing that a lot of his fans tend to remember or even believe anymore. According to a good number of Anakin fans, the Jedi are the real villains and Anakin is just a tragic victim who didn't really do anything wrong. And even a lot of the people who DO recognize that Anakin is the villain of the story often still tend to like Anakin as this tragic character and will primarily post positive things about him. So for those of us who just... don't LIKE Anakin very much, there isn't as much content out there for us. You either accept all of the Anakin love along with the content for the other characters you like or you just... don't consume very much content within the fandom. Or you find a very specific niche to try to stay in that you like better, I guess. But Anakin's the main character of the main saga, he's hard to avoid entirely.
So this blog helps provide one little safe haven for others who just... don't like this character much.
And that's not even the entirety of this blog anyway. If you had scrolled through it much, you might've noticed the fic rec lists that have nothing to do with Anakin at all and are actually a lot more aimed at being Pro Jedi. Because this blog is just as much about loving the Jedi as it is about disliking Anakin. You might've also noticed the extensive AU concepts I've written a few times, one of the most recent of which actually ended up leading to Anakin surviving ROTJ and figuring out how to stop being a Sith and getting mentally healthy. And Anakin's not even the only character who's GOTTEN criticism on this blog, the pinned post on this blog lists a good 10 characters I've had to add to it because there IS going to be criticism for them here, too, from Satine and Bo-Katan Kryze, to Aleksander Kallus, to Crosshair and TBB as a show in general, to Padme Amidala herself. Not to mention some criticism of Ahsoka, as well, sometimes. I'm an all access kind of hater I guess, I like to have a varied diet of characters I complain about.
So yes, it's a blog named antianakin because the url wasn't taken, I thought it was funny, and it works as a WARNING for anybody who sees my posts or decides to come onto my blog. Obviously it doesn't keep EVERYBODY out who shouldn't be looking at them, look at yourself for a good example of that. But I like to think it's helpful. Yes, this is a venting blog where I allow myself to be negative and complain about characters I don't like in a space I have created for me to do that in. This does not mean that I am not EVER positive about Star Wars, it doesn't even mean that I'm never positive about Star Wars ON THIS BLOG. It just means that this is a place that I am allowed to be salty in, it is a place where I put my most bitter thoughts and feelings and throw them into the void that is Tumblr just to get them out of me.
This is MY safe space, MY little fandom haven. Nobody asked you to be here, so if it doesn't feel safe or even just entertaining for you, you're more than welcome to leave and go find somewhere else you like better or create your own little fandom space where you can create the kind of things YOU want to see. I can wholeheartedly recommend it.

Ngl little bit sad that you're becoming kinda negative on here. I miss when you used to post those super cool thoughtful discussions and analyses, without the need to trash talk or bash on other ships.
(just to say, I'd normally post something like this behind a cut and I promise I always will in future. it just feels like today in particular is a good moment to state a few of these points. I'm not normally this serious lol I just want to kind of mitigate any more drama.)
I've always posted about wanting rpf to be kept out of the drivers' and teams' public spaces and I've always said it's stupid/unnecessary drama when fans of certain fictional ships get genuinely loudly "competitive" over other fictional ships and I've really always been against people hating on the girlfriends who get caught in the crossfire of the fans who truly believe their two drivers are in a secret gay relationship. it's how I've always personally felt and apart from it being my opinion (which is fair for my blog) I also feel like having even a smidgen of traction on my posts means I can potentially prevent landoscar going down the road of certain ships that have fans who've fully crossed over into aggressive/publicly disturbing territory. and who've been doing so for years and only gotten worse.
hell, I've even always openly hated when Lando's individual content gets taken over by people bringing up Carlos or Daniel or even sometimes Oscar or Max F. the man has a life beyond all of those friendships and he very much deserves for his content to sometimes stay just about him. only people like his family or Jon/Lando's team of 10+ years deserve any significant share of credit for Lando's successes but no one's bothering to bring them up in the comments etc.
also, it's still very early days for landoscar as a ship and we have at least two more years of Lando and Oscar as teammates (fairly likely more) so if we can keep out the element of fans who take rpf into widely public spaces/directly to the people involved, then I'm going to continue to occasionally post about it. those types of fans absolutely hate reality intruding and they hate real life partners even more so I'm absolutely going to post about reality and girlfriends regularly. even apart from the fact that I'd feel weird excluding girlfriends, there's a solid reason to do so.
especially when even apart from rpf, the girlfriends always get shit from people who want the guy for themselves or who have decided they get a say in who he dates. I'm not going to pretend like all of that doesn't happen just to avoid all negativity.
as far as the tricky/controversial asks I get, I always put them fully under a cut and tag appropriately so they're incredibly easy to skip. I also batch them up so one of those posts happens maybe once every couple weeks - if that. my content has always been massively on the side of fun content vs anything drama/wank related.
the one thing I will say is that I'm getting a lot of repeat anons about ship drama that I would otherwise not hear about (I rarely look at twitter and my tumblr dash is lovely and tidy with just a few things blacklisted) so I'm going to write one sort of roundup post to cover any more of those and not answer any more. I'm just repeating myself atp.
I also went on my first ever blocking spree in this fandom today when a post I'd rb had a bunch of ragey hardcore rpf people jump onto it and I also blacklisted a few more things. so that's the last I'm personally ever going to see of that drama myself. I still casually ship carland0 and dand0 as well and a whole lot of us are nothing to do with the people publicly pushing shippy shit or doing the whole - god I cannot believe this still happens - 'my rpf ship is real and yours isn't'. they're also the people who call all girlfriends "escorts" and "beards" so they're easy to identify.
one last thing anon is that I hear you but I've got to mention I delete a LOT of borderline hate asks and I leave a fair amount of trolls frothing by refusing to respond to their asks. so I'm very much always trying to keep the content on my blog free of useless drama or negativity.

Coming to terms with stuff
The first thing I come to terms with is that Tumblr has somehow blacklisted me. I've been told that you can't find my posts (unless someone who follows me has reblogged them) and that you can only see my blog if you follow me. Interesting. I guess it has to do with the fact that I post Mature Content. And that I apparently use tags deemed problematic by Tumblr. Which means I don't really need to be surprised that I get virtually no interaction anymore if no one (or very few) reblog my pictures. Because apparently I only exist on a very limited scale now. Well, there's nothing I can do about that. Then that's just the way it is.
That's reassuring in a way, because it means that I'm not suddenly drawing so crappy that nobody cares anymore, but that I'm just not drawing well enough for enough people to reblog it and thus avoid the shadowban.
It's still a major dickmove by Tumblr - but until the anti-sexuality climate in America changes for the better again, there's nothing I can do about it.
The second thing I'm trying to come to terms with now is that Warhammer fandom seems to be moving away from Tumblr. My feed is getting emptier. I see fewer amusing rants, fewer completely weird headcanons, hardly any "hey, I wrote a fanfic, check it out!" posts, and far fewer new pictures from fanartists.
Or, who knows - maybe all these other content creators are shadowbanned like me? Maybe Tumblr has muted them too?
I guess it's like everywhere else: fandom is moving to Discord. And that's where I can't follow.
For me, Discord is a sensory overload of a thousand messages that I can't cope with. It first confuses me, then exhausts me and finally makes me aggressive. It's just too much. It's like standing in a central station at rush hour and not having headphones to block it all out. So now I am excluded from this new medium that unites so many fans.
I'm not asking for it to go back to "the way it used to be". I just have to come to terms with the fact that I'm not really in fandom any more, even though I'd like to be. I'm waving from outside and hoping for reports from friends who still catch things.
And the last thing I want to come to terms with is that the things I particularly love and find interesting in the Warhammer universe are not shared by many others. No matter how often and enthusiastically I hold up my Blorbos and shower them with glitter - they are and remain uninteresting to the majority of other fans. Fulgrim is the most likely to be Flavour of the Month, but I'm more interested in his Legion than in him, even though I love his tragic, dramatic and monstrous aspects (and even those are things that meet with very few other fans' approval).
I am happy that I have found friends whom I can bombard with my ideas and images. And from whom I get their ideas and works in return. That's great and fun.
But still … it's like we say in Germany: Früher war mehr Lametta! ("there used to be more tinsel.")
I want to make do with the little tinsel I have and be happy.
That is a little like Zen!

oh that Anon who said you didn't write reader inserts, I will fight them for you, because your fics genuinely feel free form. Like I have read GN!readers where they use descriptions like petite and short even in m! Or Gn! Reader inserts. Especially when it comes to Soap. Like soap is 172 cm He is my height he ain't dwarfing me.
He might be able to trap me between those big strong meaty arms and making me stupid, but I don't have to tip toe to kiss the bastard. Yet every single reader insert fic I've read outside of a handful of really well written blogs has descriptions like "you stood on your tip toes to kiss him" or "he was easily twice your height" like bitch no. Like genuinely being technically a short man I can insert myself into the character of hush without thinking "damn the author has a very specific demographic and I ain't it."
Personally I prefer reader inserts that use nicknames because y/n, c/s, ECT. Just break the immersion of the story. Not to mention it helps create diversity in the reader characters which personally just makes it more interesting to read. Sorry I saw the anon and got frustrated. Your writing is fantastic. I hope you're doing well. There is definitely criticism to be had in a lot of reader insert fics, but coming up with minor background details and nicknames is just not it.
-Hot mess rambler Anon
Yes to everything you just said. I know I've had the height conversation a million times, I'm tall and petite reader inserts always take me out of the story. BUT ALSO I have read so many x reader fics where the reader is described as having long hair! Explicitly they talk about putting their hair up or wrapping it around their finger, couldn't be me I have very short hair! But no one goes after those authors for having character descriptions.
I try my hardest to write inclusively, I want people to be able to put themselves into the povs that I write. It's a learning experience, and sometimes I read old fic and think "wow I could have worded that differently to avoid the connotation that this reader has/is x". I'm by no means perfect in keeping my pov characters shapeless blobs, but I am trying.
It's exceptionally common in the COD fandom to give reader characters callsigns. It's common for characters to use nicknames/pet names in reader fics. And like you said it helps me to distinguish which au, and which pov character I/others are talking about.
I have said it before and I'll say it again, I'm open about what I write and I understand that it isn't for everyone. I'm an extensive tagger, and willing to tag things for people if asked. At the end of the day though, I'm writing for myself, and I'm not going to stop writing for myself the way that I enjoy writing when folks can easily block me or blacklist my tags if they don't like it.

hi! I'm the vtsom + twst anon from sometime last year, finally decided to show myself >w< (decided to leave my old acc and start afresh, just to explain why this one looks like quite recent follower and not "longtime" as per my previous ask)
still verry interested in twst, do you have any recommendations for blogs of such I could follow and reblog from? (particularly ones focusing on Malleus, since he is my current fav and I am planning to ship my oc with him). and also, I've finally posted some vtsom art of my very own which I am somehow real proud of (tho it's on my sideblog, not this one I am talking from)
anyways excuse the ramble, just wanted to drop in! wish you well!
Hi hi! I remember your ask :)
Unfortunately I can't really recommend any Malleus focused blogs, cause I just don't follow any myself (I do really like Mal, I'm just avoiding book 7 spoilers as much as possible) but I can recommend some I like for Twst in general!
@suntails is a good blog for Diasomnia stuff in general, especially SIlver! There are some spoilers her blog, but they're tagged, so as long as you have spoiler tags blacklisted you should be all good.
@daily-trey is a favorite of mine and was of the first twst blogs I followed when I was getting into the fandom more last summer. It's a very funny Trey centric comic blog.
@twisting-in-wonderland and @twisted-wonderland-memories both post really pretty art! I love their coloring styles :)
@cheshirefangs has a cute 'Yuu in tsumderland' au, and also makes other twst art and mini comics.
And if you'd like to see some shippy stuff, there's options there too. @heartscrypt has a backlog of jamiazu (JamilxAzul) stuff, and Idekei (IdiaxCater) tidbits. They also have a Cater animatic that I still think about sometimes. @ryllen has some fun TreyJade comics and as of more recently, SebeYuu ones. And @oya-oya-okay/@oyakay has a lot of my personal favorite ship, azurido (AzulxRiddle) <3
There are others too of course! I'd highly suggest just hunting through the twisted wonderland tag, you're bound to find some art and maybe even some writing you'll enjoy.
(Sorry for any pings anyone didn't want, its just easiest to link blogs with tags ^^')

Recently noticed you had unfollowed me when we used to be mutuals. I hope it was just because I post too much non-fandom or other types of posts you’re not interested in, and not because I have offended you somehow.
So, question: if you unfollow someone but didn’t block them, are you still okay with that person, or should they avoid interaction?
For sure you haven't offended me in any way!
No doubt that if I unfollowed you is either by accident (I happened to find a few people unfollowed here and there and re-follow them and I honestly have no idea why), or maybe you've been consistently posting something that I don't like, can't filter, and so that was my solution.
The prime example of this is Wayne Family Adventure. I'd say that 60-70% of WFA posts are not tagged as WFA, but just as DC comics, Batman and with characters' names (if they're tagged at all) and sometimes they are just tagged "webtoon", which I won't blacklist because there are many things that are tagged webtoon which I do wanna see.
So either I unfollowed you by accident, or it's because I've consistently seen something from you that I wanted to avoid, but in any case it's not deep at all and surely you can keep interacting with me :)

Thanks to everyone who provided input on yesterday’s post about whether or not I should allow a poll for a Harry Potter movie. Below are my full thoughts on the issue, but the TLDR is that I plan to go with options 3 and 4, which involve posting the film but with a disclaimer about not supporting JKR as well as adding fewer tags to the post so her supporters are less likely to see it.
I want to make it clear that I am strongly opposed to people posting about Harry Potter in any sort of “fandomy” way, as I view that as an overt promotion of media that a violent bigot is currently profiting off of and using said profits to harm marginalized people. My conflict regarding posting about it on this blog is that I don’t view this blog as a fandom-centric one, but rather one centered around information gathering. Some people responded to my initial post by pointing out that a Harry Potter poll would be redundant as the series is obviously extremely popular, so the results would no doubt be primarily “yes,” however I feel that this sentiment is contradictory to this blog’s goal of finding out how popular these films truly are on Tumblr. I, myself, have not seen the Harry Potter movie in question (it’s the last one in the franchise) and would be curious to learn how many others would vote “no” or even “haven’t heard of this movie,” even if they will likely be the minority.
In my initial post, I voiced my concern about it coming across as “odd” for me to take some sort of action on Harry Potter movies, though what I should’ve said is that I do not want to come across as hypocritical. Currently, the queue includes films that involve controversial figures like Johnny Depp, Mel Gibson, Clint Eastwood, and potentially others that have done stuff that I don’t even know about. Just recently I posted a Megamind poll, despite the fact that one of its stars, Jonah Hill, has recently been accused of abuse (though I believe the poll was queued up before these allegations were public,) and I can’t even imagine how many films would be removed from the queue if I were to eliminate any that the Weinsteins were involved in. As I said in my initial post, the nature of the film industry means that a lot of popular films have been worked on by horrible people. I feel it would be hypocritical to avoid posting certain movies that involve horrible people if I then go on to post *other* movies that also involve horrible people.
For these reasons, I have decided that the HP movie will be posted when its time comes, but with precautions taken to avoid the poll making into unsavory circles, including a disclaimer about not supporting JKR and fewer HP-related tags so that her fans are less likely to find it; only the full title of the movie will be tagged, both for organizational purposes and so that people can blacklist it if they do not wish to see it.
I understand that some may disagree with this decision and I wouldn’t blame anyone for unfollowing me for it. I thought about it a lot and I just could not come up with a way to mentally justify censoring one film without censoring dozens of others, and doing that would defeat the purpose of this blog. Thanks to everyone for understanding.

psa for ppl in the toh fandom: you might want to block @princess-strawberry-sunshine
they spam the character tags with a bunch of adult/child and sibling/sibling "ships" with no way of blacklisting it. so if you're bothered by that stuff, the only way to avoid it is to block this user directly
they keep on remaking their blog so it's only a matter of time til you gotta block them again tho :/
also, TWICE they've ignored my requests to at least tag their stuff so people can blacklist it so they don't expose more unwilling people to it, so i'm 90% sure they're doing this maliciously
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
update: AYYY THE BLOG IS DELETED (only a matter of time before they remake and we gotta start this whole process all over again tho :/)
update 2: they are now @princess-squidward. block them there now. will keep you all updated if they remake AGAIN.
update 3: they deleted again. will keep you all updated when i find out their new url so you can block em before having to be exposed to their shit
update 4: it's @princess-wordgirl now.
update 5: before blocking her this time, i wasted my time contacting her, politely explaining why tagging ships wasn't good enough, in the hopes that maybe she truly WAS just naive. she ignored it and blocked me. so that is solid confirmation that any harm she does is ABSOLUTELY on purpose. so don't even bother wasting your breath on her.
update 6: she deleted again. will update when i know her new url
update 7: it's now @princesspinkcupcake (no dashes in between! princess-pink-cupcake is a completely unrelated person.) remember: don't waste your time otherwise engaging with her, just block her and go.
update 8: her url is now @the-starstruckprincess
update 9: it's now @princessred-star
update 10: deleted again
update 11: @the-princesswarrior-world now
update 12, since someone was being huffy in my inbox: i reiterate, DO NOT harass her. even if you *do* think it's morally justified (which. ehhh. not gonna get into that.), it's not gonna do jackshit. clearly, no amount of talking to her (whether peacefully or harassingly) has changed her behaviour, so continuing to do so is pointless. you'll just waste your time and make yourself more upset.
hell, if my hunch is right, there's a small chance she might even ENJOY getting angry anons (whether she likes it due to the same weird compulsion that makes her wanna forcibly expose people to this shit, or because she wants to play the victim). either way, follow the old internet adage and Do Not Feed The Trolls. just block her and leave.
update 13: url is @princess-pinksuperstar now
update 14: she's started remaking after months of peace and quiet. url is @the-donut-alien now. remember, block and do not engage.
update 15: is now @princesstoxicbutterfly also she is no longer even tagging "ship names" so there's EVEN MORE no way to avoid seeing her shit other than to preemptively block her. wahoo.
update 16: @the-princess-phoenix now
update 17: @princesspinkunicorn now
update 18: @princess-yurio-donut
update 19: got a message saying it was @wallykittykat and she had been causing a stink in the toh tags after getting called out, but she either deleted or changed urls before i could verify
update 20: she's @princess-bluebird now
update 21: @princessyuriobubblegum now
Tumblr media
god.

was having banri thoughts lately just bc like. why not right. and then i suddenly remember u mentioning that some ppl... did not like banri at the start? which is wild to me bc in my mind ive always been ride or die for him. like i love juza so much but i feel like. that doesnt rly oppose liking banris character as well? banri is such fun character drama at the beginning of autumn and then his and itarus dynamic is fun from the start... gosh and the acting in the final bits of the autumn troupe between him and juza! suchhh fun tension. like. idk. it just started making me think like wow. digging thru a3 on my own with mostly the influence of like, just you has probably skewed my opinion of what the common perception of a3 is like. for example in my head winter is the most popular troupe which... it maybe isnt? i feel like recently i saw u mention summer might be the most popular(? this couldve been a dream) and i didnt realize itaru was super popular until like. last month. i mean if i had to pick a character i thought was the most popular i'd pick. misumi.
LKFJDLKFJD god what an ask
yeah i doubt i'm exactly the "common a3 experience" but to be perfectly honest i haven’t really kept tabs on the fandom per se since hh mid-2020 when i started to dig into some tags and saw so much negativity i was just :/ and stopped doing so (the curse to liking rascals </3).
Nowadays my knowledge of the a3 fandom is mostly the people interreacting with me, which already generally means that they vibe with what i post, so it gives me a skewed vision of the fandom like, are we all like that? or are the loud voices that made me go avoid the tag still here yaknow?
More stuff under cut
For Banri, i'll admit i wasn't too hot about him when i started the game, which now i regret so bad because he's my precious little meow meow hands down. He has such a good arc!!!! I know in my case i just had a hard time because i cared for Juza right away and i was still so high on Summer's development i kept comparing Banri to Tenma and going "here's why Tenma is amazing and Banri is cringefail". But it lasted me until a bit before Banri sees the portraits, when he starts to be conflicted, after that i was all, oh wait i like that guy. And then the more content i saw of him the more i loved him and he became my fav Autumn Chara. (so if you want to ramble about him more you’re free to do so because i’m team i adore this guy. please do. you’re so right in what you say of him.)
But so i did expect people to have my experience - hard time in the beginning, then mellowing on him before the end of the Autumn Chapter. And it wasn't the case 😭😭😭😭 At least at the time, the Banri's takes were rancid. Like it was genuinely annoying at a point, you couldn't go anywhere without some Banri bashing fuckery, even after his initial arc, people just. really hated him. My most hated takes were that i saw so many people say Banri would bully Yuki or stuff implying they would have an antagonistic relationship and it's probably why i cling to Into the Night so much, like HELL you're going to twist one of my fav crosstroupe dynamic!!! I legit saw so many things reducing Banri to a menace and a bully, and if not that, talking about how much everyone in the dorm hated him, and it was really driving me insane then.
I remember once making a post about how i was so close to blacklist "Banri" because people didn't filter this bashing with tags so i was just ready to just, not see Banri anymore, but it was breaking my heart. But somehow after this post i got a few people coming back at me about how it annoyed them too and i saw some of those people make their own posts in a more. direct way. and after that i never saw Banri bashing again. My power (< absolutely not, coincidence at best i'm sure).
A lot of Banri bashing i saw back then were from "newcomers" in the sense that it was after the anime aired, and a lot of people were just coming in without knowing about the events. imo i think the events do help giving a better feel to Banri in general so the fact people were fresh from the anime might have skewed things. I remember a friend who was in that case, newcomer and all, only read the main story, didn't like Banri after reading the main story. Then, Main story act 2 came out and while they didn't read the events, they read the main story and they started liking Banri there (because he did develop so much since then)
And as a whole i'd say, by act 2 it must have died out a bit.
There's another chara who gets bashed a lot but. Act 2 stuff 😔. Unfortunately a chara i like a lot so this was my breaking point of "i'm not checking the tags anymore none of you know how to behave". I think it mellowed since then? and i know the chara is popular in the JPN fandom meanwhile.
else i've seen like, Tasuku having very little content from fans and a few people being mean to him when they talked about him, but it was a long time ago and i sure hope it died out. I don't think i'd say he's bashed, more that most folks don't have strong feelings about him and stopped just with a bitter taste over his anger toward Tsumugi in the first winter chap.
Now. About popularity, Winter is DEF NOT the most popular troupe. Pretty sure it plays between Autumn and Summer in term of popularity. That said it's not like any of the troupes are unpopular so any ramblings about each Troupe would be meet with pleased reactions from the fandom, so it is harder to gauge that but yeah.
Troupewise something i noticed is that i think Summer is the most popular in term of GROUP, while Autumn is the most popular in term of Individuals. So a lot of people liked Summer specifically for their dynamic and how each of those charas played out each other more than individually liking each of them, while for Autumn it was, they liked all of them strongly! not specifically for their dynamic, though of course it plays a part, but as individuals. I mention it because i think it was the key difference in rank up in why i think Summer plays were okay to rank up to while Autumn were a nightmare. (that said that can also be "blamed" on "fans gravitate around characters that have elements they have as well" or something which means Autumn fans were more likely to be competitive and stubborn in a way Summer were more mellow.)
Itaru is definitely the most popular character of the whole game, period. It's not even a competition at this point it's so funny. when the EN server was live, anytime Itaru had a rank up card was a bloodbath (< survivor of Kniroun ranking up at 0.2%. Didn't sleep normally for the whole duration of the event it was so much.).
By the end of the server things were dying out a bit but still in general you could get a vague idea of popularity by how wild the rankings could be. For instance the fact Tasuku's ranking was a breeze without even trying was indicative of how he's not that popular.
In general i've noticed, at the time at least, that Winter ranks up were rather easy. I've ranked up for a few of Summer and i didn't see much of a problem otherwise*. Spring was really chill unless Itaru was in rank up. Autumn was THE Bloodbath. There were Autumn Stans organziation all over, the appp SYSTEMATICALLY broke EVERYTIME Autumn was around, it was always much more challenging, so yeah man.
Misumi* is probably the one i'd consider the second most popular character of the game, pretty much.
(*The funny thing is that Misumi got his lead play very early in the server's history, and i know i ranked up for him then and i didn't think it was too hard. In retrospect i'm sure it has more to do with the fact the game didn't have as many people playing it, than it had to do with popularity, so my word on Summer not being a problem is based on weird stats)
A while ago, for the Taiwanese server, there was a special set of cards in term of popularity on this server. Itaru got a SSR, Masumi got a SR, and Misumi got a R.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Masumi is in a weird position because i'd say he's fairly unpopular in the EN server, while he's popular in the JPN and Taiwanese server. Honestly i'm assuming he's especially popular with the teen audience.
AND THE MOST TELLING PART:
The first Cross-troupe's play was involving the most popular character of each troupe, by a poll being made by the JPN server. The leads were Itaru and Banri, then Misumi as a secondary character and Tsumugi as a more support character.
Meaning at the time, this was the order of the 4 most popular characters of the game.
When the mixed troupe event came to the English server, i remember a poll circulating on tumblr and likely twitter as well, trying to see if the EN Server had different favorites. Itaru still came on top, Misumi followed closely afterward. For Autumn, it was Juza and Taichi that were on the top of the Autumn poll, not Banri, and for Winter, i think it was still Tsumugi but Homare was very close behind.
So that was the popularity at least back then, god knows opinions now.
I've seen Homare be extremely popular on tumblr for sure. I have no doubt in Juza's popularity as well.
I saw a lot of Taichi fan going "Taichi is underappreciated" but i saw so many of them i was kinda just thinking "bro i'm pretty sure Taichi is in the popular character squad by now" But i'm also on the other hand as i've once seen a post saying Hisoka was popular and it stunned me a moment going ????? because as a huge Hisoka stan i don't see it???? There's a few devoted fans, and he has a better fanbase in JPN server, but in EN server??? (I'm comparing the last rank up for Hisoka VS the last rank up for Taichi in my mind and i genuinely don't see it for instance) so i also think it's likely i have a "fav blindspot" where i just don't think people are vibing with the charas the way i'm vibing, just. exactly like what i'm talking about with the Taichi stans so.... (that said i also once was tagged in a post that was going "i don't think i've ever seen a Hisoka or Tasuku stan" and a friend just went @ icha come here. Schrodinger Hisoka who's both popular and unpopular depending on who you're asking. And Tasuku IS MY UNDERRATED MEOW MEOW)
I think i recall Tenma being popular for a time, and Yuki is well appreciated by everyone around here. Kazunari has a loud fanbase but i'm pretty sure the seiyuu thing was a huge blow to them and a lot of them got more quiet at the time.
And for what it's worth i do think there's a sizeable portion of the fandom that really like Tsuzuru, but i think it's just, something you get to see a lot when a huge part of the fandom is creatives. And to be completely fair, Clockwork Heart is the one event i had a massive burn out at and didn't pay attention to the rankings at all, so i can't tell if people went really wild about it. And the next Tsuzuru rank up event was literally the last event of the EN server and i'm sure it's not indicative of anything since a lot of folks just didn't want to bother. So unlike the others were i'm using rank up as a gauge of popularity i can't tell how Tsuzuru's might influence his.
SO YEAH that's for what i could pick up BACK THEN, as i remind, i didn't really look deeply into the fandom itself. I'm really good in my corner so it might not actually be indicative of the fandom trends and i'm maybe completely off base.
Then about how, i, personally, don't represent the fandom, unless the fandom changed since then: When i first liveblogged a3, it was when the server was new and no one was on tumblr about it, so i was a little unfiltered from people's opinions. when i came back about a year later to comment on act 2, getting all worked up, and running then into the growing fanbase on this website, is when i started to run into fan takes and everything.
And, let's be clear, i came back because i was crying very hard over Hisoka and Azuma and the full Winter Troupe, and Chikage, so i really came here with my Big Winter Boots only talking about Winter and then Spring.
I ended up getting a feel of what people were talking about a lot at that time, and kinda ended up talking more about what i considered my Underrated Gems.
For instance, i absolutely adore Itaru. I ranked up for him, i've bleed for him, i love the dude. But he's so popular i figured i legit had nothing to say about him that a hundred people wouldn't have been able to say before. So i've mostly didn't really talk about him much despite loving him a LOT because i just didn't think i had anything to say. (now in my current reread i'm doing it so disconnected from what i know of the fandom that i indulged in talking more about how much i like him LMAO)
Meanwhile, there's characters i love that i know the fandom don't talk about much so i end up talking about them more, and it's the case of Tasuku. I wouldn't be surprised Tasuku is really low on most people's popular list. I'm just Not Most People and you're going to hear me ramble about that hunk of a man every few days or so.
I've made my niche in the Winter Troupe appreciation gang and i'm pretty sure by now a lot of other Winter people follow me as a result because i couldn't shut the fuck up, so then my perception of the fanbase gets skewed because i just think of Them ahah.
And there is the fact i adore the rookies, mainly Chikage and Guy, but don't talk about them so much mostly because they came out later in the main story and i've been rereading act 1 so many times instead,,, and didn't talk much about act 2 in case some people managed to save themselves from being spoiled (like you!!)
So my personal perception of a3 is probably not reflecting the whole a3 fanbase really much. God the amount of times i talked my friends's ears off about Winter, that they kinda just humored me without thinking much about it, until they found out one of the More Popular Chara (Itaru, Tenma and the whole Autumn Troupe mostly) and suddenly they're like *twirls hair* heeyy Icha tell us more about a3. It's genuinely so funny to me.
and again i don't know perhaps i'm full of shit, and it's not like i've kept tabs on the fandom recently either!
But that is at least a bit of what i remember in term of popularity and what i can say is that i shouldn't be taken as an example of the fanbase's views in general.
I'm vibing in my corner, and by experience, it usually meant i ended up talking about more niche things, but since i'm disconnected from the fandom i'm pretty sure i still have opinions that are popular opinions. So who knows! not me!
So yeah that's all i can say about the popularity of the a3 fandom. Def not an indication of it by me.
and it must be funny for you since you only really have me as your fandom gateaway because well. *waves at post* yeah.
The more you know!

It’s the pinned post, READ IT PLEASE
Commissions can be found here: https://ko-fi.com/venacoeurva/commissions
Non-art posts will be tagged as “not art” and text posts are “vena vents”. Reblogs of my own posts are “Day reblog” blacklist these without quotations if you don’t want to see them.
I’m over 25, bi aro, and dude-esque, I use these w/ queer interchangeably.
Not all content is close to mature or suggestive but I would still prefer you to be 18+
I have anxiety issues and due to the nature of this website I will frequently delete posts. Posts that get too big freak me out, so don't be surprised when I turn off reblogs. I also have memory problems, including short term, bear with me.
I don’t know how to feel about gift art of my OCs quite yet. I’m protective of them given how “fandomized” orig stories/chars ended up. Please use common sense with other’s creations/characters and don't just do things with other peoples' characters/stories without their permission.
I block people into incest and adult/minor pairings, and any others I happen to be skeeved out by as I encounter em. Social media curation, baby
I BLOCK ACCTS THAT LOOK LIKE BOTS. CHANGE YOUR ICONS. REBLOG OR POST SOMETHING.
I block h*rry p*tt*r accounts on sight, yes, even people who put it out there that they don’t like the author and only engage in the fandom.
My art’s not cleared for reposting (REPOSTING =/=REBLOGGING)/tracing/edits/RP/Commercial purposes. If you want to make merch for personal use, still PLEASE ASK ME FIRST if it’s more complex than just printing it on paper and sticking it to your wall. Consider it a “no” until asking me and getting a yes. Please understand how uncomfortable this can be for artists to just DO that without asking (and people have).
That's the main stuff, more info below
Other Rules:
I also block accounts dedicated to reposting (not reblogging) art unless the art is extremely well known, published, or very old.
I block accounts promoting or enabling AI (the current ~trendy~ interpretations of them, not the scientific simulation types)
If I mention a character not present in a post, I censor their name to avoid it ending up in results.
I have VERY limited social energy. Also please don’t just try to small talk.
Also if you try to joke with me and it's not obvious/a very well-known reference there is a chance it'll go completely over my head and I'll just stare at your reply/ask blankly and move on. If it comes off as you being a dick I'll just block you tbh (esp bc a lot of jokeyness on here is playful rudeness toward strangers)
Sometimes I'll block just off bad vibes
I’m critical of sites/companies/brands, including small ones if it warrants criticism, including A_/0/ 3
Don’t be weirdly horny on my art, saying a character looks hot or whatnot is fine, if it’s mature content then go nuts, but I don’t need to hear about what some character needs to do to you.
I’m not your therapist. I cannot stop you from committing suicide or suffering from other severe mental crises and I am not trained to. I will block trauma-dumpers.
l will block if you’re reblogging personal posts for no reason when I forget/can’t turn reblogs off or reblog spamming one of my posts a ton in a row, because reblogging one post a trillion times is just a thing people do now?
I don’t want to be mutuals with anyone under 18 (or 21, more realistically)
If you’re a minor reblogging/liking mature posts (which means you lied about your age to be able to view), I will block you. If you’re a minor leaving horny comments/tags on things, that’s also very uncomfortable and I will block you.
Also don’t ask me to be mutuals, if it happens it happens.
Just because you commissioned me it does not mean we're friends. That's a weird, unrealistic expectation and I'm a very closed off person.
I won’t share donation posts unless it’s vetted by others/via a trusted source.
I know sometimes my art ends up on Amazon, nothing I can do about that.
If you call yourself problematic/proship or call people puritans or fandom cops (or claim fandom critics is purity culture) a bit too unironically and seriously I’m just blocking, man, but frankly, if your main occupation is shipping discourse regardless of stance and you’re older than like 17-20 or beefing with actual children I’m also just blocking you. There’s nuances and neither side likes to work with those and you're too damn old to be making that your main hobby, let alone doing it at all.

Hi, hello. Same Anon who sent the first ask. Just came by to say thank you so so SO much for taking your time to answer my ask in details and I appreciate it loads. Your long explaination is so SO beautifully well-written (like seriously, you're so good with words. How are you not writing your own book yet-???).
That being said I'm still unsure I'll warm up to it just yet. Since I've recently got into HK, I'd like to test the waters with other ships and see what sticks and what doesn't. That and I'm hesitant to try it cuz I've had... traumatic experiences with popular ships in the past with other fandoms and it left me scarred so...yeah. BUT thanks to your explanation and from others, I can definitely DEFINITELY understand the appeal and unspoken potential it has and I can and WILL respect you Grollow shippers for your passion and dedication to it ^^
Also I'd like to apologize again for causing so much trouble for you with the other Anons with my ask. I really never meant for things to get so out of hand with it. I'm genuinely sorry.
On a lighter note tho, when you mentioned 'vessel for the radiance' , I thought back to a lovely AU fic in AO3 with the same name and funnily enough, the MC in that fic is the son of the Radiance and technically the nephew of Grimm whom is arranged to be married to Hollow as a 'peace treaty'. Idk why but that was the random thought that popped into my head when you said it ^^;
Ah, you didn't cause me any problems, anon! All you did was show me why the asks I've received in the past were so frustrating. Tone and intent really makes all the difference. Don't worry!
Write book... (Sweats profusely and stares openly at Blinding, which I haven't touched in a few days) ... Uhhh (gulp)
Every time you call Grollow popular I have to do a double take. I guess it kind of is the most popular ship involving both characters, but in the scope of what I consider popular, I see so much more of certain other ships (Lacenet in particular, but I also see tons of Palewatcher-- both of which I support ftr, so this is not a complaint-- as well as Quirrel/the Knight) that I never really considered it to BE a popular one. Especially considering how dead our tag is on AO3 (lighting a candle and saying a prayer for the swift return).
If I'm being honest with you, I don't think it's a good idea to write something off just because you are intimidated by the way that fandom handles it, even though past experiences make that easier. I know that instinct -- I come from animanga background, trust me, I KNOW it well -- but at the end of the day, you might be limiting yourself. For a long time, I avoided fandom entirely as a result of that, and sometimes I think I was happiest when I was full gremlin not speaking to anyone churning out fics from the heart. I wouldn't trade my friends for the world but there's a certain inner peace that comes with connecting with fandom the way that YOU want to. It involves liberal use of the block button and blacklisting tags but it does, in the end, make the internet a more enjoyable place to be.
Whether or not you come around to shipping Grollow, though, I hope I've at least shown you that our side of the fandom doesn't bite. You're welcome in my inbox any time.
I've not read that fic! Maybe I'll give it a shot. When my massive pile of back reading is done. Sweats. I'm drowning under the weight of all the things I want to read while writers block beats me up and calls me names behind Applebee's.

Caught up on jjk. opened the jjk tag. saw the first post was a straight x reader post. IMMEDIATELY closed it and opened your blog instead. o7.
I'm so glad to be a safe haven from the hellscape that is tags. I hope you enjoyed your scrolling o7
Nah, x reader shit is a literal fucking inescapable plague and it's so fucking infuriating, I can't lie
Like, I truly have no issue with x reader stuff in general. Like the actual fics and art, of course. I have no interest in it, but other people like making and reading it, so good for them! Like, glad you're having fun
The broad community around it is fucking insufferable though and they make me kinda fucking hate anything associated with x reader stuff in general, to the point that I literally block anyone who posts/reblogs it on sight.
They are so fucking inconsiderate of everyone other than themselves in fandom spaces and ignore so many of the social niceties pretty much all other communities use to make fandom a habitable space for everyone en masse. The way they flood and abuse tagging systems is so fucking infuriating. Like, using the jjk fandom as an example (as its x reader community is one of the worst I've seen in this regard, though kny isn't much better), you shouldn't be fucking tagging your x reader smut shots with every goddamn character in the series. You want to write something of getting dicked down by Gojo? Sure, put it in the general jjk tag as well as Gojo's tag. That's valid and fair. Why tf are you tagging Maki? Or Yuuji? Or literally every other character in the series? Why are you tagging unrelated ships? It's so unnecessary and rude and self centered.
I also hate that the vast majority of them won't tag their stuff with a general x reader tag that's easy to blacklist. If I want to avoid their posts in totality, I'd have to blacklist "gojo x reader" "satoru gojo x reader" "gojo x fem reader" "gojo x gender neutral reader" "gojo x you" etc etc you get the point.... but for every fucking character in the series. Why not just add literally one general "x reader" tag that would mean people like me could easily avoid your stuff and we can both blissfully enjoy our lives? Tagging isn't just for getting exposure, it's for allowing people to avoid your work as well. That's more than half the courtesy of it
But no.... they want to shove their shit into as many people's faces as possible because they think that will get them more exposure, not just piss people off and make tags uninhabitable for literally anyone who isn't interested in it
They also have a tendency to not put their graphic, explicit porn under read mores, which is also just basic decency. Never mind that I then have to scroll through all 4K words of your OOC daddy kink nanami porn, but I had to see it when I didn't consent to it, potentially in public. Thanks for that! Also especially dumb when you put MDNI on it and then... just post it openly without even a single click to keep it off the screen. Great job! Not that MDNI always keeps minors out (obviously) but it's a useless shiny sticker when you then post the porn just out in the fucking open, not even offering one fucking click for people to consent to seeing it
I've also noticed they tend to use uncredited art in their stuff super fucking often? And no "art not mine" doesn't fucking count as credit.
Idk, I just truly have no fucking respect for the x reader community at this point considering their blatant lack of respect and courtesy for literally every other fandom subculture.
Sure, they get some hate for being "cringe" or whatever (which I admit isn't fair. I def don't get the appeal, but I don't think anyone should be getting meanly ridiculed for it, you know?) but I wish they would realize that the fucking disdain they get from the rest of the fandom is for these reasons.... Not necessarily the self shipping or even the blatant mischaracterization for wish fulfillment purposes
Idk, sorry for the rant, but the x reader crowd fucking infuriates me. Like I said, I block them all on sight (probably have upwards of 1-2K blogs blocked at this point because of it), and have blacklisted as many tags for it as I can.... and while how often I see it has definitely gone down and makes tags slightly more bearable... it's still, fucking somehow, like 50 fucking percent of them
But anyways, back to the main point! I'm glad I could curate a jjk tag that is more enjoyable and to your tastes! I know I very much like having one I can scroll through that's art and meta, rather than.... that

Oh, I meant to send an ask about the tagging things with each chapter matter but looks like the discussion is already going on. I'm one of those people who tag based on what's already up as the story goes along.
My reason to do that, especially for characters and ships, is that I've been there and had the frustrations of finding a fic with a good premise and my rare faves tagged only for them to barely appear in it. If I were to tag the characters and ships preemptively, unless they're the ship the work will be centred around and it's misleading not to tag them, I know that some people will read the WIP hoping to find what they are looking for and be disappointed when it's not there. They may consider it a mistag for more views and blacklist the fic or remember it as "ah, the tag's wrong, blorbo isn't in it at all" and never click on it again even when blorbo finally enters the scene and becomes the deuteragonist. It feels deceptive of me to tag for things that aren't even in the work yet and I will shoot myself in the foot doing so.
Same for certain specific tropes, especially in smut. I add them when the new chapter introduces them to avoid cockteasing people looking for specifically that act or kink to read. However, for thematic tropes and overarching themes and such, I tend to tag them from the start to give readers an idea of what will happen. You need at least some ingredients and hints of what's gonna happen to get people to decide on reading.
I'm aware there are enough people who can reason the character or ship simply hasn't appeared yet, but for every fic for which that's true, there are a dozen more where they were just tagged for a single background appearance.
The initial question I wanted to send was, do you (otnf and other readers) reread the tags every time a new chapter goes up in case something new was added, or do you just read them once and go in if you decide you like them?
--
I never reread tags if it's a fic I'm going back to from an update email or bookmark and I actually remember which fic it is.
I use tags to find fics in the first place, largely via filtering and not via reading the headers carefully. Once I have my selection, I download things onto my kindle and read them later. I skim past the tags there and mostly look at the title and summary to remind myself which fic this is.
Best tagging practice is going to depend a lot on how long your fic is, how long it's taking you to update, what the fandom is like, what kind of content is included, etc.
