NNT Rewatch s2ep1-6
(This was written weeks ago but was in my queue. I am moving back to my college town Saturday so busy days are to come but now I have things to procrastinate 😈)
So YAYAYAY time for season 2 (my fave season overall) !! I’ve rewatched this one before, so i actually remember some of this lol
Ban: I quit
Meliodas: your face is the only joke we can handle
HE GOT HIS ASS DAMN
i love both of diane’s orange fits, but s1 leotard hits different
i have thots abt the introduction of power levels that will be told beneath the cut
i mean it’s all very dragon ball (which i love, but in a very different way). I feel like they are just better executed in manga format, because saying the numbers out loud just kinda breaks up the flow of dialogue and action. Plus the numbers never stay accurate since the characters are always powering up and nakaba lowkey just stops using them at one point. so like assault mode!Meliodas has a power of 142,000. BUT he defeats enemies with powers higher than that and is shown to gain even more power. But this is the highest number we have for him. Overall, theyre clunky, not updated enough to be accurate, and just kinda cheesy :/ I feel like plot could have been added to justify and explain the eye of Balor (AKA Drole if i remember correctly) but it’s just used as an excuse to quantify the characters’ strength since this season is mainly focused on physical and emotional growth, as seen by the Ishtar Arc (one of my fave arcs hehe)
merlin’s friendship with hawk is actually so cute tho
so Meliodas’s beginner stats (still missing his powers) are magic 400, strength 960, spirit 2010. The way I see it, his insane spirit strength could mean one of two things: bitch is just hella determined in his quest to end their curses and protect his friends (likely) or merlin taking away his power only affects his strength and magic since spirit has to do with your mind (also likely) anyway what do y’all think?
how the fuck is gowther’s strength 500??? The average person who can lift 50-100 lbs has a strength of 30. HOW IN THE FUCK?? IS GOWTHER SECRETLY SWOLE????
Meliodas being like “no idk who the ten shadows could be haha” when he and merlin literally formed the sins to fight them and HE WAS THE LEADER OF THE 10 COMMANDMENTS is so funny like so tru king lie to their faces
the first thing Zeldris says is “3000 years... please tell me that he’s still alive” which tells me two things: 1) he doesn’t know about Meliodas’s curse, which could explain why estarossa kills him when he’s just going to come back a rival to the throne of the demon king and 2) the listed life expectancy of 1000 years for demons is probably not accurate lol
maybe it’s driven down due to number of battle deaths like the mortality rate of the middle ages lol
we are introduced to a demon who hopes mel is alive, shares a voice actor, AND HAS THE SAME FACE yeah the brother coding is very thick
AJSDBJKBHJEBFNWKFH YESSS THIS IS MY ALL TIME FAVE INTRO SONG AND ANIMATION
ban’s refusal to get jericho’s name right makes me laugh every time
Jericho: is scared and runs to Ban
Ban: 🤨 yeah. i don’t remember asking you to grab my arm🙄
im sorry but king rlly was a bad fairy king like mans didnt even know the forest was there 😭 its ok tho i love that for him
King hating Ban at first bc he “killed elaine and destroyed the fairy kings forest” only for Ban to pull THE BIGGEST uno reverse on him will never not be funny
wait does that mean ban is technically the 4th fairy king and king is both the 3rd and the 5th bc that would be rlly funny and does happen quite a bit historically
I love how as much as a smug asshole Ban is, he’s not rubbing it in King’s face and is showing him he’s still his friend
so if Gil is Margaret’s guard and Griamore is Veronica’s, does that mean Howzer was Elizabeth’s ?? bc that would be so fucking funny
Helbram got King’s ass with “and you’re short”
KASBDFNJBSDKF HE LOOKS SO GOOFY😭
Tumblr media
MY BABYGIRLS ARE HEREEEE
Tumblr media
Best girls Melascula and Derieri fr
i love that they said slader is gay, how can we let the audience know and then gave him the smoothest, gayest voice imaginable
merlin calling og gowther a great magician when we know he was the one to train her is actually so sad, i want to give baby merlin a hug
slader is hot, thanks for coming to the ted talk
Tumblr media
how the fuck does he walk like this tho??
Tumblr media
is there a reason i just don’t remember why they never really bring up albions again or do they just ~disappear~ conveniently from the story lol
So the whole concept of sacred treasures is really cool to me because they are clearly something unique to the Sins, despite all of the sacred treasures being very different and made of different materials. I mean Gowther’s is straight up made of light Still, them having weapons that serve as a constant and grow with them as they become more powerful is just a neat concept to me. I just wish we could have seen Ban use Courechouse more than just a few episodes. There really isn’t a plot reason he couldn’t have had it beforehand.
Gerheade being a bitch to Ban bc he’s a human makes literally no sense when we learn her backstory with Rou. Like NO sense at all lol
I honestly love that Meliodas destroyed the albion on his own. Like yes, he is my OP blorbo BUT he’s also supposed to be incredibly powerful in canon, which we haven’t seen him go all out with an enemy yet. Not only does he know all about albions (bc he’s a demon), but as leader of the 10 Commandments, he probably was on the controlling side of the golems. Then, as a member of Stigma, he fought against them. Not to mention, this is when he finally gets Lostvayne (the DEMON sword) back. This moment for me is when he gets to show off the perks of him being a powerful and high ranking demon. Might fuck around and do a full post later on Meliodas’s relationship to his own race and what/who he is lol
Ban screaming “you bitch!!” is... a wonderful experience
Yass king (hehehehe get it? bc his name is king? hehehe)
Galand petting Gloxinia is actually so cute lol
Merlin covering Arthur’s eyes 😭😭 she’s his mom fr
Tumblr media
“its been a while meliodas” oop galand just let the Meliodas is 3000 years old cat out of the bag ehehe
(stay with me bc im about to get delusional) WAIT so galand says “to think that after all this time has passed youd still be in that form” in this essay i will prove that Meliodas looks like a young teenager because he essentially is biologically young for the demon race. Galand doesn’t know Mel was cursed, so he would think that he had aged in the past 3000 years. Plus, I think the demon king’s possession of Meliodas AND Zeldris can be (somewhat) compared to Sariel’s aging up of Solaseed. Anyway, i feel like this can support my hypothesis of Zeldris and Meliodas are just babies who will eventually look like adults. Also, I think them being super young just enhances the angst quite well.
everyone is fucking terrified of galand but hes just a silly foolish little fellow to me lol
ban and king being brothers-in-law makes my heart happy like theyre so cute
Ban threatening Gerheade and actually being pissed and serious has suddenly reminded me that if i saw a grown ass man who couldn’t die and was a 7 foot tall violent alcoholic i would be fucking terrified
like a demon 14 year old? creepy ig but not a 7 foot tall masochist with an 8 pack
I love how hard Diane always goes for the ones she loves, she’s just so devoted and passionate Best Girl tm behavior
*Merlin being incredibly confidant and nonchalant starting a proposition*
Meanwhile Merlin’s thoughts: SHIT SHIT I HAVE 10 SECONDS TO THINK BEFORE EVERYONE I LIKE DIES
Meliodas doing the same thing Hendy did by reattaching his fucking arms using Darkness and the sins still being like wait?? is Meliodas?? a... demon ??? 🤨
okay so we DO see him in this mode again. But what is it called? and why does he become no thots head empty? its not like he died. and even in assault mode, he has thoughts and emotions (when they’re not stuck in purgatory)
Tumblr media
Im ngl, i forgot everything about this episode entirely lol
obvi i hate that derieri died, but at least the souls she fucking ate got returned lol
do we think arthur has a tiny teenage gay crush on meliodas? Discuss.
(the answer is yes ehehe)
gowther walking around with his dang a lang swangin hehe
Gil crying in annoyance and defeat as griamore and howzer bicker is literally so hashtag real
HENDYYY MY BABYGIRL IS BACK BAYBAYYYY
very suddenly realized that Hendy’s probably only like in his 30s. Mans is just not that old
exactly 3 seconds after I had that though Howzer calls him old man LOLLL
i forgot about hendy’s childhood trauma. damn. thats actually rlly sad :/
look how cute he is tho 😭😭
Tumblr media
hendy and dreyfus are in love. thanks for coming to another one of my ted talks
so do we think dreyfus is half druid (and zaratras is full) or zaratras is half druid? i mean they’re half brothers but only one is a called a druid sooo
IM SORRY BUT THIS IS THE FUNNIEST FUCKING SCREENSHOT ASDFFHSLDH elizabeth scandalized, meliodas accepting his fate, slader leaning in closer and blushing ITS JUST SO GOOD
Tumblr media
The ass shot of Diane 🤨😑
Damn Idk how i never realized that all of them pretty much only call Meliodas captain. Merlin, Ban, and Elizabeth are the only ones who will call him Meliodas, but even merlin and ban typically go with captain.
“im a giant, why arent you afraid of me?” hes a fucking demon. lol

I wasnt sure how to go about answering this because you said you wanted your name hidden so I hope this is okay lol 🥺❤️
But anyways in my opinion I don’t see it as Nakaba putting Percy on this pedestal and saying fuck you to Tristan at least not in my eyes
It’s just More so the fact that the demons love Percy because percy saved the dying demons when he was a baby from the behemoth so they ended up seeing him as their savior and treating him like one of their own
Now with Tristan it’s different because the demons hate Tristan and are racist towards him because he’s half goddess and as Gawain said in the beginning of the arc some demons still hold a grudge for what happened in the holy war. Now this doesn’t condone them being racist and hurtful and straight up threatening to kill Tristan just because he’s half goddess like that’s actually fucked up cause like what the hell he can’t control that, that’s not what I’m saying but what I am saying is them acting like that is in my opinion In character.
The way Tristan reacts to this situation is also In character in my opinion because it starts to bring out his self conscious side and makes him start to have doubts and leads to him feeling like he’s not even worthy to be in the demon realm at all and it’s understandable why he would only want to visit the demon realm once thanks to how they treated him
The reason I say it’s not Nakaba putting Percy on a pedestal is because he’s not actively using it as a way to pin Percy against Tristan it’s just more so the fact they both had to different experiences while Percy is loved by the demons Tristan is not
But I can definitely see the demons coming around towards Tristan once he shows them how powerful he is and by helping save the demon realm
Now as for the rest of what you said in my opinion zeldris didn’t just immediately shoot down chions idea of them using Tristan’s Saint coat to protect them what he said was
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That while yes they may get some protection with Tristan’s Saint coat it won’t be enough to withstand the negative force of the behemoths negative energy. So mainly he was just saying they can use it it just isn’t an affective means to get to the behemoth. At least that’s how I see it
And as for the demons loving Percy and them seeing him as someone who can do no wrong well that has at least some what of a reason
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As zeldris said in this chapter the demons owe their lives to Percy because he was the one who saved them in the first place they quite literally would not be alive without him. So them not blaming Percy when they should and yes I agree they probably should’ve been a little mad cause wtf lol snd maybe not let him off Scott free it’s understandable why they don’t blame Percy because if not for him In the first place they would already be dead
So to them being sealed is a worthy Sacrifice because Percy already saved them once before so that’s why they aren’t all that mad which is a little strange cause like again tf but makes sense
Now as for why zeldris and the others aren’t mad like Nasiens it’s mainly because as much as they should be angry and upset it won’t realistically get them anywhere it won’t help fix their situation so as like Tristan Said they’ll just have to leave it up to faith and let things unfold but until then they can worry about what they can change right now which is the behemoth situation
And well as for Nasiens being mad that’s still valid as fuck because Percy quit literally betrayed him when he told Percy not heal that chaos knight and still healed her anyways without thinking of the consequences so him being mad this chapter is very much valid in my opinion he’s still hurt
But yeah this is just my opinion sorry if it’s long as fuck I just had to break stuff up in parts ❤️

the sins helping gowther who is literally like a baby emotionally and gets scared a lot-
YES!!!! I love Gowther content!!!!
I’m gonna do this by character because I want to add a few points to each
Meliodas
-when he hears him scream or cry he’s very nonchalant, will be like “You good?”
-Will run his hands through his hair and calm him down by telling him that the seven deadly sins are all here to help him
-Would definitely sit down with him and talk him through it all, help him ground himself and tell him about how much everyone loves him.
-He’ll often check his room to make sure he’s all good and see if he needs any support.
Diane
-His new mother. She makes sure he’s fine constantly. Let’s him hang out outside with her while she sleeps so he’s not alone
-If he gets spooked she will take him away from the situation and talk him through it all.
-Will try to take his mind off his worries by letting him try on her human-sized clothes and dresses. They have a little fashion show where only Hawk is invited (the equivalent of rupaul of the nnt universe, nakaba suzuki told me himself true and factchecked)
-She will pick him up and put him on her head so that he’s far away from whatever is spooking him and close to something he’s comfortable
Ban
-Ban does NOT know what to do in this situation. He’s not grasped Gowther and his emotions yet. He’s like “Heyyy bro… don’t cry… cmon man,” and gives him the most awkward hug
-He absolutely does care about him he just doesn’t know how to show it. He can’t exactly cook for him. He does let him spill all of his trauma onto him and he’ll offer a shoulder to cry on for him.
-He will steal books for him as gifts because he knows that he likes those and they make him feel comforted. Once wrote him his own book that was really badly grammatically wrong and had the worst drawn pictures in it and Gowther loved it because it was His.
-He’ll stay up all night if he needs to stay up with him to comfort him through his stress, just to make sure he’s ok.
King
-Quite apprehensive at first, unsure of whether he is genuinely upset or if he’s gonna be like “wahaha this is a social experiment i have no heart”
-Once it becomes apparent to him that he’s 100% serious he will try his absolute best to make him comfortable. He’ll take him out to bookshops on days he’s so down in the dumps he doesn’t want to leave his room.
-He’ll offer his pillow to him so he can hide behind it
-He’ll reassure him that everyone is here for him now and that things won’t go back to how they used to be.
-Gowther often gets upset about how he hurt the group and King has to reassure him that it’s all in the past and the fact that he’s able to feel guilt over it now shows he’s truly a better person
Merlin
-She knows about his creator and has been told about his past, so she’s able to source his feelings and comfort him
-She’ll let him sit in the room with her while she conducts experiments so that he can feel nostalgic over Goatdad
-She asks questions about Nadja to better understand her. Not the type of questions that would trigger trauma but the type to make him look back and smile.
-She’ll ruffle his hair and kiss him on the head since she still sees him as something like a little brother to her.
-She hugs him while joking that it was either feeling these emotions or going back in the stuffy armour.
Escanor
-During the night he will fetch literally anything he needs. Handkerchief? Books? He’s got it
-He’ll ask him to proofread his poetry to get him to take his mind off what he was originally anxious about
-During the daytime he will be hesitant to show he cares but he truly does. He’ll show it by asking him to come along hunting or asking about Merlin in the past. Things to take his mind away from the pain.
-He deeply respects Gowther and would do anything to help him. Always talks him through crying fits and helps him ground himself. Reminds him that men are allowed to feel (even though he wasn’t even aware of the norm of men not being able to show emotion?)
Elizabeth
-Always prepared to hug him!!!! She doesn’t know him as much as she knows the others but she’s so willing to help him out!!!
-She’s aware Nadja was her auntie but doesn’t want to pry him out of fear she’ll cause him to cry
-Always wiping his eyes and clearing the tears from his glasses because though she doesn’t know him well she still loves him!!!
-Asks him to tell her about the books he’s reading in order to show an interest in him and let him know she cares
-Like Meliodas, she also makes sure to check on him!!!
I hope you’re having a wonderful day 💙💙💙

what are your opinions on lance/guin and tristan/isolde?
The most interesting thing that Nakaba could do with them is sink them, imo! And that's also what I think is going to happen for a few reasons. Predictably lengthy response below.
One of the big themes in the sequel so far seems to be about defying fate. As a viewer, these two pairings are cemented in pop culture history. They're viewed as inevitable to us. This is kind of directly acknowledged through the power he gave to Guinevere. With how strong the idea of fate is reinforced both to the characters and to the audience, it gives off a stronger vibe that the end result will be how it's not inevitable. Otherwise, what's the point of all of this set-up if we're being told 100% how it's going to end?
Bartra had a similar ability to Guinevere and his was infallible. However, his visions were vague, and them being so heavily up to interpretation created misunderstandings and conflict. Guinevere believes hers to be 100% accurate.
Guinevere seems to lack of a self-identity outside of the future she can predict. She's trapped in this prison of isolation and knowing so much about herself that she simultaneously doesn't seem to know anything at all. Her magic is powerful, but would be really boring if it's infallible. She made sure to mention that there would be grave consequences if fate is defied. So... I mean, that's just what's going to happen, surely? That also implies it is possible. But she's doing what she can to make sure fate isn't broken by getting involved herself. So, it doesn't exactly seem very fool-proof if she has to meddle...
Isolde is nerfed by her own magic because she's convinced herself the source of it and her entire reason to exist is for Tristan. He's been kind to her, so she's heavily devoted to her own detriment. Isolde and Tristan's dynamic/friendship actually reminds me a lot of Diane and Meliodas from the very early parts of arc one in the original manga (a one-sided pairing that was destined to fail). Nakaba even draws direct attention to it with the whole, "he's the only guy who treats me like a normal person even though I'm so tall and stand out" thing.
The girl's issues with self-identity is something that I'm hesitantly saying is intentional and not an unintended writing flaw. I've seen people say they're flat due to these traits, but I see some hidden depth here, personally. I think Nakaba is cooking something.
This is probably an unpopular opinion but as someone who has been reading for almost 8 years, I actually think NnT is one of the romance-focused shounen manga where the women aren't watered down just to the man that they love. So the fact it "appears" that way just leads me to believe that it's the point, and the end result will be veering away from that.
It's very much like Nakaba to play with the expectations of Arthurian mythos by mixing things around in this way. Since these characters are so established culturally, he tends to do unexpected things with them to suit his intended themes and so the story doesn't get predictable. Taking two of the more culturally iconic pairs and subverting expectations by not having them be compatible romantically would be interesting. As of right now, that's how it's been coming across to me?
One of the ways Nakaba has already done this is by making Arthur's interest in Guinevere entirely non-romantic in motivation. That alone is a huge flip on what we're led to expect. So the typical "Lancelot and Arthur NTR/love triangle conflict" thing just isn't being built at all.
Lancelot isn't interested in Guinevere at all for a few reasons, and Tristan is so oblivious of Isolde's feelings and views her solely as a friend. We haven't had a hint of much else.

I don't like Jericho at all, if you follow me, you probably know that already. And I keep seeing people justifying her falling in love with Lancelot. (Or denying it ever happened). Here's my opinion on it (no fighting in the comments)
Jericho has kinda always been Nakaba's punching bag. She fell in love with Ban, had a fling with Howzer, and is now in love with Lancelot. She lost her brother, and gets controlled easily. People are saying they don't know why Nakaba is doing this, well I think that's why.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Literally why this tho? This is weird even for him.
In the one-shot, I was starting to like her, and I know it's just shitty writing, but I can't really like her anymore, again, I really didn't in the first place.
Obviously, she's better at this than King and Meliodas, who acted upon their feelings for Diane and Elizabeth when they were children, she knew her boundaries but I still think it's kinda messed up she fell for him anyways.
And it's true. Jericho is under some sort of spell, but in The Seven Deadly Sins universe, the way you normally get controlled is someone takes advantage of already present feelings.
Meaning she DID fall in love with Lancelot. Her feelings are there, maybe not as strong, but clearly there. I'm glad she didn't act on them though.
But, she didn't seem to tell Lancelot she was leaving, giving him the image that she hates him, and spent two years tracking her down. Only to find out his master, who was probably like an aunt or big sister to him, is in love with him.
Also, she told him of a mindscape where they would fall in love, and that's kinda strange. She showed him the mindscape and I feel like that's crossing the line as well. She shouldn't have done that, and her fighting Lance and Guila is not cool.
Honestly, I'm upset about this (Duh lol) but idk, what do you think?

Lancelot would have more chemistry with Nasiens than with Guinevere if executed correctly, fight me.
For elaboration:
I don't necessarily hate Guinevere as a character. I don't like her either, she could have absolutely slayed, but Nakaba can't write female characters for shit. So yes, for now I wanna smash my screen every time she appears. It's how she was introduced that ruins both how I view her from outside, and how Lancelot views her in world, if we keep the romance plot in mind.
Listen: she straight up told him they're gonna be a couple before ANYTHING else. No matter what happens from this point forth, that's gonna be his first impression of her. That's how Nakaba set up this relationship. It IS going to impact the development of their feelings for each other in universe. Their base is gonna be: destined-to-be-with-each-other. You hate me now? Doesn't matter, you're going to love me, I've seen the future.
Seeing as Nakaba did a (vaguely) similar thing with Melizabeth (elaboration for another post), it's probably gonna play a gigantic part in their dynamic for each other.
Most likely at the expense of an actual explanation why they work as a couple and what they like in each other.
Also she's twelve. COME ON.
So yes, I haven't been fond of this couple from the beginning, but right now it might actually ruin the series for me, which would be freaking sad cause it's so great on so many levels.
But hear me out:
Nasiens.
I know on first sight it's a bit of an asspull. Definite crackship. Nasiens has a pretty big crush on Percival. But.
Both Nasiens and Lancelot are pretty no-nonsense, to put it in Donny's words. I can see them both ready to do what needs to be done, for example killing someone if absolutely necessary. Not to the same extent, but Nasiens is pretty ready to fight for his friends. I can totally see him killing someone if it's to protect Percy for example. Since this is a point of conflict between Anne and Lance, and a big part of his character set up, they might click, and Lance might trust him and "respect" him for that. They might bond deeper over the difficulty of that decision, or over their morals in general.
Lancelot is without question the strongest person in their group, Nasiens the smartest. They give me low-key parent friend vibes. They're the two most reliable characters of the group, if you're looking at who got them out of trouble most times (overlooking Percy's hope powers).
Reminder, Lancelot was the reason Nasiens could tag along with the group in the first place, because he thought his powers might be useful.
Then there's something that might also work with Percy, and that might actually come up as point in his relationship with Lancelot, but it's established that Nasiens was extremely lonely before the others stumbled into his life.
Lancelot as well. He's much stronger than anyone around him, probably feels the need to protect them, or at least thinks: I'll do this alone, everyone else will just slow me down. He feels he doesn't quite belong with the Fairies, or humans. He's probably been isolated for a long time at the lake, or might feel out of place coming back. He told Guinevere he hasn't talked about Jericho or the lake with anyone, so that is that. He might feel nobody will understand.
Nasiens is a very attentive person. On the surface, he figured Lancelot out pretty well so far. He might notice that loneliness and talk to him about it, tell him all of them are there for him, because he knows what it feels like and how terrible it is without people to rely on.
Out of all of them, Nasiens is really the only one who knows the Fairy Clan and how they tick, because he's lived with them. Also, the alcohol thing? Drink off and Nasiens cheating with his magic? Yes? Please? Gimme?
Those are just a bunch of points I noticed might work into their dynamic, and I really love it. There's a lot more. There's a lot potential, not even necessarily romantic, but certainly more than what Guinevere and Lancelot currently have. To be fair, we've known Guin for two chapters. We don't know a lot about her character. But their set up is already terrible, so that's not a good start.
I will continue to ship Nasiens and Lancelot and pretend Guin doesn't exist nevertheless and no one can stop me.

From the darkness below (life can still rise)
Fandom: 七つの大罪 - 鈴木央 | Nanatsu no Taizai | The Seven Deadly Sins - Suzuki Nakaba (Anime & Manga) Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Relationships: Diane/Fairy King Harlequin Characters: Fairy King Harlequin, Diane (Nanatsu no Taizai) Additional Tags: Post-Canon, Angst, Angst with a Happy Ending, Fluff, One Shot, king feels guilty about lots of stuff, diane doesn't like that, king and diane dancing!, Dancing, Romantic Fluff, Zine, written for the SPECTRUM zine
Summary: King visits the ruins of the old Fairy King's Forest for the first time in years. The last time he went there he was a criminal and racked with guilt, and he couldn't do anything to save the forest. But this time, Diane is with him. And this changes everything.
Notes: here’s my piece for the Spectrum zine @spectrumnntzine ! I got the prompt “black” and wrote some Kiane. King suffer a little here but luckily, Diane is with him.
Enjoy!
Tumblr media
When he lands, a cloud of ashes and dirt rises from the ground. King clenches his mouth as dust covers his shoes and pants with a thin dark layer, then starts to fall, slowly, to the earth. Around him, the ground is covered with black mud and rubble, all that’s left of what were branches and leaves. King shivers and forces himself to look around, letting his eyes wander over the desolation surrounding him. The burned forest hasn’t changed since last time he was here. Somehow, the trees still stand, raising their slender branches to the sky. The wood is dark and dry, and King feels like it would crumble into ashes under his fingers if he touched it. Below, the twisted roots sink into the arid ground. Dirt and cinder cover the earth, almost obscuring the spider-web of cracks stretched across it. In his mind, the resemblance is disturbingly fitting. After all, this wasteland is a place of death and misery - death of the vegetation that once ruled it, death of the wildlife that made its home here, death of the Fairies he failed to protect. The place is the rotting cadaver of his beloved forest. Nothing but a monument to his own failure.
“Harlequin?” Diane’s voice is as soft as the gentle touch of her hand on his cheek. He breathes in and looks down to meet her eyes, loosening his grip on her. He was holding her tighter than he realized.
“Sorry,” he mutters as he buries his face in her hair. It feels nice and smells like flowers and hills, and it gives him an excuse to look away from the grim landscape around them.
Her head shakes slightly as she answers, “I’m fine - are you alright?”

He swallows before glancing around again. The scrawny trees look back at him like a jury of the dead. There used to be colours in their bark - light and dark brown, red, grey - sometimes almost invisible under the green mass of moss. There used to be colour in the earth where their roots sink - the light green of the grass, the hundreds of shades of the flowers; and in the air too, where butterflies flaunted their vibrant wings and birds flew from branch to branch with a beat of their vivid feathers. Nothing is left. King imagines them melting together as the fire consumed the forest, leaving behind only this nauseating, burned black.
“Yes,” he answers slowly, looking away, “I’m fine, don’t worry.”
Diane raises an eyebrow but says nothing as he lets her go. She eyes her surroundings, a hint of uneasiness in her violet gaze. Not for the first time, King wonders why she insisted on coming with him. He told her it wasn't necessary, that the sight was hardly worth the trip, but he knows better than pushing her when she makes up her mind. She can be very stubborn, he thinks, a faint smile curving his lips.
Truth be told, he doesn’t know why he wanted to come here. The new Fairy King's Forest is home now. He knew nothing waited for him here. Yet the desire to return had been growing in the back of his mind since the war ended until it was impossible to ignore. Maybe, he admits to himself as some he takes hesitant steps between the trees, he hoped something had changed. When he last came, he was still a traitor, wanted by the kingdom for a crime he didn't commit. Even to him, it feels like ages ago. It was easy to convince himself that it was worth visiting if just to check whether some semblance of life had returned. But on the ground he sees no sprout, and on the trees, no leaves. The entire place looks frozen in time, framed in the aftermath of its destruction. King clenches his jaw as he approaches a tree. After a moment, he finds the courage to touch its trunk. It doesn’t crumble under his fingers as he feared, but he can feel no life within its burned shell. It’s only a matter of time before it rots, leaving no trace of its existence but ashes scattered on the ground.
“We should leave." His voice sounds stiff and low, but he is grateful it's not trembling.
“Oh? But we just got here!” He hears Diane’s approach behind him, her soles crushing tiny pieces of burned wood. “Didn’t you want to take a look around?”
He shakes his head. “It’s useless. I … I was hoping that I would have been able to fix this, now that my wings have grown,” he admits, finally turning towards her. "But this place is ... well, look at it. It’s dead. If anything survived, if only a single bud sprouted, I could help it grow, but I can't bring what is dead back to life.” If he could, he thinks bitterly, he wouldn’t have lost so much, would he?
With his foot, he traces a line in the dirt. It stains his shoe with sludge, black like the charred wood and the burned bones he knows he will find if he looks well enough between the roots. Some are so tiny and thin and can’t come but from small animals. Others are bigger and King doesn’t even want to think who they belonged to.
"It was foolish of me to come here - and to bring you with me,” he mutters. “I should know by now that I can't erase my mistakes."
Diane gasps and King closes his mouth, pressing his lips together, though he knows he can’t take his words back. She hates it when he speaks like that about himself. He glances at her and tries to find something to say as he waits for her to berate him. But she doesn’t speak. She stands silently instead, her head tilted and teeth sinking in her bottom lip; she stares at him with thoughtful eyes, then, suddenly, she moves. King's brow furrows as he watches her walk around, eyes fixed on the ground. Near a tree, she stops and taps her foot on the soil, once, twice, making the dust lift and float. King hesitates, unsure how to ask what she is doing, and his eyebrows rise suddenly when she crouches and reaches for the earth with her hand.
"Diane! You shouldn't touch -"
"Of course you can't erase your mistakes," she says without looking up, "that's not how it works."
King sucks in air and closes his mouth, baffled. That’s … not how she usually answers him, when the argument comes up. The change doesn’t quite upset him, though he feels his stomach clench. She loves him, but if she starts to see how much a failure he was -
"But you can't deny," she continues, pressing her palm against the dark soil, "that you’re trying. You are doing what you can to be a good king, and you are Harlequin. I, our friends, your people, everyone thinks so. Yes, you made mistakes in the past, but you’re trying to make sure nothing like this will happen again. This is the only thing you can do, now.” When she turns towards him, a little smile has formed on her lips. “And anyway, you’re wrong. You can help this forest.”
King frowns. “No, I can’t."
Maybe she can't feel the sense of death that filters through the cracks on the trees' bark, but she is not blind. Her bond with the earth must be telling her there is no hope for this place.
"You know I can't revive these plants," he says through his teeth. "There is no life left inside them, I ... checked, the first time I came here." Those moments are etched in stone in his mind - fear and disbelief taking his breath away, his mind refusing to process what he saw, to acknowledge it was real. He looked for his sister first, then for the other Fairies, and when he couldn't find anyone he had examined the plants, stumbling from one to the other, desperately looking for something alive. "Nothing survived the purgatory fire," he finishes, bitterly.
Diane hums softly before beckoning him with her hand. "Come here,” she orders.
King frowns as he walks towards her, curious to see what caught her attention; as soon as he is close enough, she grabs his hand and pulls him to crouch at her side.
“You have to stop blaming yourself for everything that happened here,” she whispers. “It’s distracting you.”
“How can I?” His eyes drop to the dirt that now stains their shoes and calves. "I was the king of this forest and I left it unprotected." He smiles bitterly, shaking his head, "I can't even bring myself to regret it. I couldn't abandon Helbram and - and leaving led me to you," he adds softly. "No, I could never regret my decision. But when I remembered, when I realized that I abandoned my people for centuries, I chose to stay away. I thought it was for the best to surrender myself to the humans and take the blame for what Helbram did. The truth is that it was an easy option.” He swallows, feeling like there is dust in his throat. “One that didn't require me to face my people after I failed to protect them, after I left them, after what I let happen to Helbram -"
“Harlequin.” Diane’s grip on his hands becomes tighter. “Look at me.” Reluctantly, he meets her gaze. Her eyes burn like violet flames. “You know you had to stay. You told me.”
"If I came back -"
"You would have had to fight a war against humans. Many people would have died - more than the ones who lost their lives in the fire. You would have brought death here,” she gestures at the forest around them, “to your people, and to the humans who would have fought you. You saved lives when you decided not to come back.”
“But I should have been here to fight that Demon!”
“You couldn’t know about the Demon.” She squeezes his hands tighter, so abruptly that he has to hold back a groan. “You did what you had to stop what was threatening your home. You acted like a king.”
He wants to object, to insist he should have done better, he should have found a way to keep everyone safe and give the humans the justice they demanded. It takes just a moment to realise that he can’t. Diane is right. It’s not the first time he’s thought about this and reached the same conclusions, but this time they feel more … real. Not like simple excuses he is trying to make up to absolve his crimes.
“I … know”, he whispers, “but my sister died because of my decision. If Ban hadn't revived her ...”
“But he did. You can’t keep tormenting yourself over what was in the past, Harlequin. Elaine is alive and happy, and so are the Fairies and the Fairy King’s Forest - and that’s what you should focus on. What it is, not what it isn’t anymore.” She smiles at him. “You have to accept that you can’t change the past. But you can protect the present.”
King stares at her, the grip on his chest finally loosened a little. The guilt is still there, heavy and bitter. He knows it will never go truly away. Maybe it's alright. Maybe with time, it won’t feel like a burden to drag him down, but a push to do better. So that there won’t be more burned forests and lost lives.
“Thank you,” he murmurs, releasing a long breath as he lifts their joined hands to kiss her knuckles.
Diane beams before reaching for him; the touch of her lips on his own is quick as a beating of wings. She is gone before King can even think to kiss her back, then, still holding his hand, she murmurs, "Will you look into the earth, now?"
"The ... earth?" He blinks, tilting his head, cheeks still flushing for the kiss. "The - the roots have burned as well. I can't feel them, Diane. They’re dead too."
She shakes her head. "No, I mean - under here," she says, pressing his hand against the ground with her own. "You have to look deeper. Please, just," she adds when he looks at her with uncertainty, "just try."
Under the dust, the ground is hard and coarse and feels nothing like the soft meadow that once covered it all. King hesitates, but when he glances at Diane she nods encouragingly, a spark of excitement in her eyes. So, he closes his eyes and lets his magic flow. When he uses Disaster, he can feel them clearly - the plants, their connection with each other and the ground, whether they are going to survive or if they need to be taken down to allow other plants to grow. When he does it in the Fairy King’s Forest, the wood awakens with whispers and lights everywhere around him, the entire forest pulsing with life.
But here, King feels nothing. The world around him is silent and dark as a starless sky. Nothing seems to answer his call. Clenching his jaw, he keeps looking; Diane wouldn't be making him do it without a reason. She felt something, and now he just has to look long enough to -
It's there. His eyes snap open, but his mind stays focused on the tiny spark of life hidden in the depths of the earth. It’s a seed, King realises, and it’s not the only one. There are others around it, here under him, but also in the surroundings, under every scrawny tree. He looks up, eyes wide, and Diane grins at him.
"You saw them! I think the earth preserved them from the fire. There is still life in this forest.”
“But it's too deep," King breathes, "they are still alive, but they won't reach the surface and grow if we leave them there."
“Then we won’t. We are going to get them out.” Suddenly, Diane is holding both of his hands, looking at him with determination. "Dance with me."
It takes only a moment to understand what exactly she means. He can make the seeds into buds and trees, but with feet and feet of ground separating them from the soil, it will be easier if the earth opens for them.
"Of course," he says as they stand up together. Sliding one of her hands from his, she starts.
This is not by any means the first time they’ve danced together, nor the first time they have combined their powers like this. Yet King feels clumsy and stumbles on his feet as he follows Diane's smooth movements. She doesn't say anything and continues to dance, adapting her movements to his and giving him time to pick up the pace. His throat feels dry, his chest tight - he is nervous, more than any other time, maybe because he needs to make this right, to give this place another chance to live after he failed his duty to protect it.
He breathes in, out, trying to calm the pulse of his heart, and stops thinking about his next step, his focus shifting to the seeds. They are there, tiny and weak, and he keeps looking for them, finding more and more. His magic gently envelops them and then pours inside them, growing them slowly. Around them, the earth opens, like lungs too long contracted and finally given the chance to breathe. King is only partly aware of the way the ground trembles under his feet, but he can feel Diane's magic radiating from it as she delicately pulls the seeds outwards using her control over the earth. They are still dancing, their bodies finally moving in harmony, and when Diane pirouettes in his arms their hands touch oh so slightly - and under them, the seeds keep growing and rising until they are emerging from the ground like tiny green stars on the dark soil. King doesn't stop though, not yet, nourishing them with his magic, pushing them further - just a little more, till they will be strong enough.
And then they stop. King gasps for air, his eyes snapping open; Diane's face is inches from his, her body in his arms with their hands still connected. Her cheeks are flushed and her eyes feverish, but she is grinning widely as she whispers, "We did it."
She is right. All around them, among the dead trees, saplings raise their thin branches to the sky and tiny bushes cover their roots. They are not many, yet, but it's a start. A laugh escapes his lips and he takes Diane's face into his hands before kissing her, again and again; he can feel her laugh too against his lips.
Before they leave, Diane carefully shapes the earth so that the wood will have enough water to grow while King finally lets the old trees decompose. They turn into dust under his power almost gratefully, as they were waiting for it. Part of him can’t help but mourn them, as he mourns the times he used to fly between their branches with his sister - and Helbram and Oslo and all the friends he lost. He will hold the memories dear in his heart, but finally, he thinks as the last tree crumbles into ashes, he can let this place go.
He turns back only once as he flies away with Diane in his arms. The wood looks so young, so different from the forest where he grew up, but that’s fine. It will grow into something new - something that will survive, he promises to himself. Even the earth looks healthier and softly embraces and supports the new trees, though its pitch-black colour remains. But ... maybe it’s the green of the new leaves, maybe it’s the fact that his heart is much lighter than when they arrived, but as he looks at it, King feels for the first time like the darkness of the dirt doesn’t mean death. It means life.

Nanatsu no Taizai | Kiane Week | Day 4
Day 4: “Sacrifice”
I told few people that I had dreams about King and Diane long ago. One of those dreams was about King sacrificing his wings to save Diane and the sins. Yes, it happened on a white and empty dimension. And yes, King had to rip off his wings on his own. How did he do that? With Guardian's help, using few hands to hold king and other few ones to rip off his wings. After Guardian did that, King locked himself inside a basic Pollen Garden to try to stop the bleeding. Diane and the sins were saved and sent to the same dimension. Diane runs to catch King but he doesnt let her to go inside until he stops suffering with pain. Yes ...... I had a weird dream, but it had so much angst I needed to draw it. King is that kind of man who would do anything to protect his future wife and his friends.

Clock Zero Bonus Story (Madoka)
As long as it’s with you --
“Hah? What is that. Please say it again.”
The location was a stylish and fashionable cafe owned by the Hanabusa family.
The owner’s son, Hanabusa Madoka, and his lover Kurou Nadeshiko, sat in a corner of that cafe.
Madoka’s narrow eyes narrowed further as he squinted at her.
“As I said, I’ve started a part-time job.”
Part-time work.
Referring to a form of employment with a shorter fixed term contract compared to full-time office workers.……his mind ruminated on this mundane definition of the phrase, so surprised was he at the words coming from his girlfriend’s mouth.
Simply put, it didn’t suit her at all.
“……why would an heiress like you do something like that?”
“It has nothing to do with that. Since I’m already a university student, I don’t want to keep relying on my parents. Until now, I’ve not been allowed to do it, but…… my father has finally given his permission.”
“Speaking of which, aren’t you busy? With clinical practice and other things, you barely have time to sleep do you?”
“That’s true but… it’s not every day.”
“Hah. And then?”
“Eh?”
“What kind of part-time job is it? I’m sure you’re not working the cash register at a convenience store, right? I can’t even imagine it.”
“……are you making fun of me?”
“I am not. I am simply speaking the truth.”
“Hah… It’s a job at a cafe.”
“Heh. Which cafe?”
“……you won’t come to make fun of me?”
“Of course I will. One of the bonuses to a store where my girlfriend is working is to visit and witness her messing up at her job.”
“……”
“I’m joking. So, where is it?”
“At a place near the university. You know, there’s a large main road, at the place where it turns -“
“Ah… wait. Isn’t that place a bar by night?”
“That’s right. I only work the night shift so strictly speaking, I’ll be working at the bar.”
“Hah? Are you stupid?”
He said the precise words that came to mind without softening them.
Predictably, Nadeshiko took offense and frowned.
Madoka was always too blunt and spoke without trying to hide his meaning. Because of that his words were trustworthy, but because she didn’t expect him to react negatively to the news of her part-time job, she felt hurt.
“Why makes you say that?”
“That area is filled with unsavory types of people.”
“……I’ll be working inside the store. There will be other staff present too.”
“Don’t you understand that no matter how serious and respectable a person is normally, they can change after drinking alcohol?”
“You’re exaggerating the issue. It’s just a customer service job.”
“… you…”
Sincerely amazed, Madoka could only sigh.
What was wrong with it, why Madoka was against it, it seemed she could not understand one whit. Something like irritation swirled within his mind.
(…… as always, she has no self-awareness)
Nadeshiko was popular.
In elementary and middle school, she had suffered because of her cool personality, and she was close to few peers. However, when she entered high school, the impression that people had of her had definitely changed.
Beautiful looks, striking intelligence, and a calm maturity that set her apart from other girls her age. After becoming an adult, she had also become skilled at reading the atmosphere in a room and adapting to situations quickly.
To Madoka, it was not an exaggeration to say that every single man walking on the street was his enemy.
“You are too lacking in self-awareness.”
“What self-awareness?”
“The awareness that you attract men easily.”
“Hah?”
“See? You aren’t aware of it are you?”
“Even if you say that…… I’m not doing anything of the sort.”
“Even if you don’t intend to do it, people who are attracted will get closer to you.”
Seeing the absolute lack of understanding in her scowl, Madoka realized that he was being selfish.
Though it was true that she was popular, she had experienced few negative situations as a result of that popularity. It was only natural that she would not understand why this was not a positive trait.
But this was a big problem to Madoka.
Though she was normally wary, she was unexpectedly softhearted to people. This made it so that even if anyone hit on or flirted with her, she would not exercise caution.
“Actually, Madoka. Are you worried for me?”
“Hah?”
“You’re worried that if I work at a bar, it would be dangerous, right?”
“Well… there is that. It would not be unheard of for something to happen at a drinking place at night.”
“…I see.”
In a sudden switch of mood, she blushed and turned her gaze downwards, as if she was a little bit happy about something. It was extremely disarming and he felt himself weakening.
Even though he was still worried, it was clear that their priorities and concerns were not aligned.
“…… Just for the record, I’m not objecting to this because I don’t want anything bad to happen to you.”
“Eh? …… then, why?”
“It’s because I will be restless and distracted. To always be distracted on the days when you work, what kind of inconvenience is this?”
If he was willing to say that much, Nadeshiko didn’t understand why it was ‘not for your sake’ that he objected.
Madoka’s habit of not voicing his true feelings was an old one, but she had always felt that he should be able to just say so if he was concerned for her.
“……you’ll be distracted because you’re helplessly in love with me right?” *(T/N: See final chapter for ‘Return’ Madoka’s route)
“What is that. When did I ever say that?”
“You said that previously. ‘I love you. I love you so much I can’t do anything about it.’ ”
“Did I say that?”
“…… if you can’t remember, shall we reminisce over the time that you confessed to me as well?”
“Unnecessary. That incident never happened. It’s all a fantasy that happened inside your brain.”
“………… Madoka, you used to be so adorable in the past!”
“Even now, I am adorable.”
Madoka was in no position to say that himself. That’s why it was a pity, he was so adorable back in his student days….With the passing of time, the closer they became, Madoka’s behaviour had become brusque.
—— that was the proof of his affection. Because she understood that now, she looked upon it with fondness, but.
Sometimes. Only very occasionally sometimes, his ruthlessly curt attitude hurt. That she loved him even so was surely because she knew. His cold manner belied his strong affections for her. His indifferent words and neutral expression were his way of being obstinate. She knew this.
—-It was spring when she entered high school.
Nadeshiko’s third year middle-school graduation ceremony.
After the ceremony was a free period of time for everyone to say their farewells to their peers, juniors, and teachers.
Madoka had come to congratulate Nadeshiko, with his unchangingly indifferent expression.
At that time, Madoka was still in his second year of middle school. After a year, he had grown taller, and the impression of youthfulness he’d had when they had met had vanished.
“Nadeshiko. Congratulations on your graduation.”
“Ah, Madoka. You came to see me off.”
“Yes, because Nakaba told me to.”
“Ah, I see…… Well, okay. Thanks. You’ll be a third-year student this year won’t you? Work hard for the high school entrance examinations.”
“Yes.” The Madoka of that day seemed just the same as always. Down to the way he nodded his head, and the coldly indifferent expression in his unwavering gaze.
“I have something to give to you.”
“Eh?”
Breaking the silence between them, Madoka passed her a beautifully arranged dried flower mini-bouquet. Madoka had always been skilled at making small handicrafts. With this gift, it seemed as if he was implying her elegance. Nadeshiko blushed as she received the bouquet.
“It’s beautiful…… thank you, Madoka.”
“And one more thing.”
“What is it?”
“You’ll be graduating today, and you aren’t entering the affiliated high school section, but took the external high school entrance examinations didn’t you?”
“? Yes, that’s right.”
“I must still spend one more year here. If I don’t do well, four years from when I enter high school…… no. From now, always.”
“……?”
Completely not understanding, Nadeshiko inclined her head questioningly.
“I always thought that as long as I had Nakaba, that was enough. I thought that when I came here today. But now, when I think about what will happen from now on, I feel that the future is unbearable.”
“Eh.”
“I thought about what I could do, to rid myself of this irritation and frustration. As a result, I have a request to make of you.”
“W…what is it……”
“Please meet up with me even outside of school.”
“Eh?”
“Whenever possible, please spend your rest days with me.”
“…………?”
“I want you to see me differently from everyone else. Nadeshiko.”
“Hah……!?”
“When I think of you entering high school, becoming close to a man I don’t even know, it makes me feel disgruntled.”
“Ma…Madoka…… are you saying-“
“It would seem that I am jealous. Of someone that has yet to appear.”
Madoka wore a deeply begrudging expression as he took one step closer. Caught by those transparently clear eyes from up close, she could not look away.
She was vaguely aware that he just said something incredible to her.
But her thoughts could not comprehend it.
Madoka was, jealous? He was upset at the thought of not being able to meet her anymore in the future?
“It’s okay to become selfish. You were the one who said that to me.”
“That, that is… I certainly did say that.”
Predictably, she was confused.
In other words, in his usual convoluted and difficult to understand manner of speaking, Madoka was confessing his love.
Up until now, she had been confident that aside from Nakaba, who was Madoka’s whole world, she had been more important than any of their peers.
With the exception of Nakaba, she was special to him, she thought.
But at best that was platonic affection. Something like romantic love…… she thought it impossible that he would ever develop such feelings for her.
(……I)
As her thoughts came to this point, she realized it. That she had always been holding a small hope, a small expectation from Madoka. Even though it was impossible for him to ever say it to her, impossible for him to ever give her a place in his heart above what she had already been given. To the Madoka who seemed more like a boy with each passing day, she had no choice but to crush her own growing attraction.
Even so, some part of her had anticipated something more.
“So, what do you say? Will you let me keep you to myself?”
“Keep me to yourself, that is……”
“If it’s not possible, please say so clearly. Honestly, I’m also irritated by how troublesome this is.”
“W-what’s with that?”
Raising her face to retort, Nadeshiko froze at what she saw.
———Madoka’s face was… red.
Not only that, that unwavering gaze that had always seemed to see through her, was downcast. His long eyelashes were quivering.
“……it’s a bother. Even though I feel restless when you are not here, my feelings for you are an annoyance.”
“Madoka……”
“Even so, if it is you…… if it is with you, I feel like I could learn to see the world outside better.”
The tone that sounded more hateful than frustrated, even that seemed to also convey his true feelings.
Nadeshiko knew that her own face could not possibly grow warmer than it already had.—-
“— not only that, in the middle of my reply, you said ‘Is that so?’ and began to walk off quickly. But your ears when red, and when I teased you, you glared at me. Ahh, you used to be so adorable back then……”
“…… do you think that was adorable? I can only think it was hateful.”
“It was adorable.”
“Anyway, why are you narrating like an abridged story digest? Please stop it, you’ve added too many dramatized details.”
“Oh? My memory is my greatest strength. Even you remember what you said back then don’t you? Or were you only lying back then?”
“…………”
“I was really glad! Somewhere in my heart, I think I had always been waiting for you to say those words. But I thought you never would.”
“…… you…”
“That’s why, I was happy. It’s a memory I definitely want to remember always. Was that only a lie?”
As she stared at him, Madoka’s brow furrowed grumpily.
“…… it wasn’t a lie. It was just the folly of youth.” he muttered disgruntledly and bent closer in a light movement.
That manner of speech had not changed since the past. Despite his honest nature, he could not bring himself to be straightforward.
Nadeshiko laughed a little at the warmth of his kiss, and he seemed to become irritated again. Then, his lips traced upwards to her ear.
“I’ll pick you up.”
“Eh?””
“Your part-time job. It ends late at night, doesn’t it? Please call me when your shift is over.”
“……(soft laugh). Okay. I understand.”
Even if he was not straightfoward, the feelings directed towards her were strong.
She got the feeling that in as much as she was swayed by her younger boyfriend, so too was he tied to her apron strings. She could not help but think lovingly on this relationship. So even if they annoyed each other sometimes, it couldn’t be helped!

002 gowdja 003 Gowther for the ask prompt!
Omg THANK YOU! Okay, for Gowdja I’ve already answered here, while about Gowther ...
How I feel about this character: I love Gowther! He is surely one of my favourite characters. I liked him from the start because he was so fun and I like the “character who doesn’t understand human emotions but is trying to do that” trope a lot, but Gowther is just ... more? He is a very complex character who grows a lot during the story. And I loved that when he finally got his memories of Nadja back he didn’t just start to understand emotions, he still struggled but at least he finally opened with his friends. The fact that he was even willing to sacrifice himself to save them was amazing! I just really really love him.
Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: I ship him so much with Nadja, they are simply perfect together. I also like him with Slader, though the fact that they didn’t interact at all lately is a bit annoying.
My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: first of all, Goat dad. Their relationship is so nice, I would have liked to see more of it! I also really like his relationship with Merlin, they probably got to know each other before the Holy War and I think that when they met again when the Sins were formed, she took care of him as she could. I think they are actually pretty close. I also love Gowther’s relationship with King and Diane! It’s so nice that after everything they passed through, they are finally good friends.
My unpopular opinion about this character: I don’t know if this is unpopular, but I think it makes sense that he was the first “forgiving” Merlin for what she did. It was a bit rushed, but he probably thought that what she did wasn’t so different from what he had done to achieve his purpose (okay, risking Elizabeth’s life and awakening an ancient God are way more dangerous things than what Gowther has ever done, but I think he could see it this way). That part of the manga was generally rushed and I would have wanted it to take longer, but Gowther’s actions, in my opinion, are understandable
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I would have liked for him and Nadja to have more time together, it would have surely been good for him. Also I would like if even now that the Sins separated, he visited King and Diane in the Fairy King’s Forest pretty often (maybe he actually does that, who knows, Nakaba told us nothing!)
Favorite friendship for this character: King and Diane, he has a lovely relationship with both of them!
My crossover ship: I don’t have one, I usually don’t even think about crossover ships!

I saw someone called Meliodas a rapist, ban a pedo and king a kid groomer what do you think about this?
Oh man...First of all, let me say that I don’t think anyone who likes any of these ships or the characters should feel bad about that, regardless of what other people might say.In these specific cases I think it’s important to not only look at the surface and judge them based on that but look a bit deeper. So, Meliodas a rapist? Let me say, that I don’t think him sexually harrassing Elizabeth is okay in any way, but sexual harrassment doesn’t make him a rapist in the first place. It makes him a sexual harrasser, yes, but not a rapist. Also, as I said, let’s look a bit deeper here. What Meliodas does is not okay, but if we look at his and Elizabeth’s backstory it is entirely possible Meliodas thinks it’s okay because one way or another they’re gonna end up falling in love. Who knows, maybe they even talked about this before and Elizabeth explicitly told him that yes, it’s okay for him to sexually harrass her. We will never know. I also do think he would stop if it REALLY upset her. He does respect her after all. That said, I don’t think him groping her and stuff is okay, since Elizabeth herself, without her memories, definitely felt uncomfortable more often than not, especially with people watching. Still, definitely no rapist.Ban, a pedo then? Short answer, no. Long answer, Elaine just HAPPENS to be a loli. Ban fell in love with her because of who she is, not because of how she looks. He fell in love with her because she was the first one to accept him the way he is. He fell in love with her because he finally felt understood and important and because he really had fun for the first time. I remember there being a Nakaba Q&A where Ban was asked whether he likes big or small boobs more and I believe his answer was that he doesn’t really care, but since Elaine has small ones, he likes small ones. If Elaine was a big boobed grown-up woman he’d have fallen in love with her all the same, because she’s still Elaine. He doesn’t care what her body looks like, he only cares for what’s inside. So no, he’s definitely no pedo. He just HAPPENS to have fallen in love with a loli, not his fault. As for King, I never understood why he had to fall in love with kid Diane out of all things, but he never ever did anything to her. He cared for her but he never once thought about himself, he only wanted her best, at any given time. He didn’t make any kind of advances towards her at all, he protected her, nursed her when she was sick, made clothes for her and never did he expect anything back from her. Yes, he was in love, but he didn’t groom her. Diane was the one who occasionally made some advances but King never really accepted any of them. When he regained his memories and the whole Helbram thing happened  he even pushed her away, as a means to protect her. I really don’t know where people see the grooming happening tbh. From when Diane was still young to now, King always cared most about her happiness, no matter how much he himself might suffer. Not because he was hoping for something in return, not because he was expecting her to reciprocate his feelings but because he just genuinely cared for her. No grooming involved. So there you have my opinion on the matter. There is more to the characters than just their first impression.

The Seven Deadly Sins Chapter 273 Review
Tumblr media
With a long break after a shocking development, this chapter has one and only goal in mind: to reveal the plot twist. Thankfully, Nakaba doesn’t dance around the twist and so, it’s revealed here and I got to say, this was cleverly planned. Whether you called it before or not, the way how it was executed and how it all tied in to do make the twist a really good one.
I should point out that before this chapter, whenever the characters talked about Estarossa, Gowther was seen shady, like he knows something. It’s why this sudden move from him isn’t random or farfetched; it’s a heads-up for his involvement. The main premise of this chapter is to reveal the truth behind Estarossa’s character and it slowly does so in a dramatic way.
This also involved with the true Gowther in his masterplan to end the first Holy War. It is revealed that he wanted to use the forbidden spell that can change memories of one sole man as well as everyone else’s. Supposedly, that would end the war when one man’s existence is altered due to how powerful that man is. That was a huge red flag of who he is referring to, but at the same time, quite astounding to know how powerful he truly is. It was sad that the true Gowther needed his puppet help for power and yet felt guilty to leave him a heavy burden. Puppet or not, he cherished him like a son.
When Derieri begins to feel odd about Estarossa’s presence, it’s a clear sign that we will get our answer. When Sariel couldn’t remember Mael’s face, to me, it’s a confirmation that Estarossa is Mael. Why else would he forget the identity after spouting out with anger that he wants to avenge him. Also, when one don’t recall a person’s face, who was killed by the alternated persona, it’s bound to be the same person.
According to Gowther, when someone “learns” something is altered, hence the Demon King’s awareness, soon, the alternated memory from everyone will collapse. It’s kind of eerie that it affected everyone and when it gets disrupted, everyone will get a small traumatizing effect. It’s a forbidden spell for more than just its effect. It’s a bit surreal how much the conflict once King and others arrived to Estarossa has altered from fighting to save to fighting with emotional confusion.
Everyone doesn’t act like how they wanted to going in. Derieri fights in anger, but this time, shouting at him not knowing who he truly is. The Archangels are struggling to understand why they can’t remember Mael and his identity. It’s like they have gone to Estarossa for no reason with their lack of motivation. King is fine because he doesn’t have much connection with him, but confused on why everyone is acting strange. Most importantly, Estarossa now feels lost when he isn’t so sure that Meliodas is his brother. The twist is heating up.
The best part in my opinion is the flashback. Not only it cleared out some of the problems I had, but it segues to a gratifying reveal. First of all, I am very glad that Elizabeth recite her last words but in a proper fashion. I didn’t like how she sounded like Meliodas will never say anything that can be said with any meaning. Instead, what she really meant is Meliodas wouldn’t say anything that would be a total lie. That’s much better. I knew this chapter is going to be great when Nakaba corrected this. Praise the sun!
Next, it fleshes out Meliodas’ character more than just a love bird. He truly love his brother, Zeldris, and really wanted to help him with his lover. Now I like the guy. Sad that he couldn’t help in the end. I want more out of this connection. The odd part comes in when he said Zeldris is his only brother, which confuses Elizabeth greatly. Then, another twist comes in from a name. Estarossa was her dog’s name. You mean to tell me that I was most interested with a dog? What’s weird is Estarossa did say something about killing Mael like a dog. Wow…
Demon Estarossa was seen sad, because she mentioned Meliodas was the one who named the dog. Then, his image is reverted back to the true self and surprise, surprise, it is Mael. I may have realized it beforehand, but I still felt the satisfaction and the “shock” of its reveal. My favorite part out of it is the double page spread with the display of two worlds; one is real and one is altered.
The crazy part about it is that the memory didn’t exactly tell a lie, but told an alternative story. Everything about Mael isn’t exactly wrong, but altered to another world. For example, he was heavily inspired by his older brother; the difference is who, so in this case, Rueduciel is his actual brother. The part about helping Mael to win Elizabeth’s love is real, but it was Rueduciel that promised him. It’s not a lie, but it’s not said by Meliodas. Either way, Mael does love Elizabeth but hate Meliodas. I thought the last back-to-back panel in that spread was strong. He didn’t kill “Mael” but still felt emptiness.
Tumblr media
It’s confirmed that Estarossa is Mael all this time. Looking back at the theory, I can see why. Although you can argue you see it coming, especially from last chapter, it doesn’t take away the value of its reveal. The fact is it helps the story to create a logical sense out of every loose ends and established threads. The only missing piece is why Escanor carries his Grace, Sunshine. That could be saved for another time. The reveal also flesh out the situation drastically. It can lead to many new possibilities and learn more about Mael as a character.
Overall, this was a great chapter for its reveal and how it connected to previous alternated memory. Amazing how Mael still has the same hair color and style, just a different cut to resemble closer to his brother. The presentation is great with its buildup to the reveal as well as the connection between the two worlds. Gowther worries me with his dedication to solve this mess with the cost of his life. I hope it doesn’t come to that. Mael has grown out his wings and broke free from darkness. Whatever happens next, one thing is certain: this is all real.

The Seven Deadly Sins Chapter 254 Review: I have the Power!
For some reason or another I’m doing what maybe just my pointless opinion in a review of the latest chapter of The Seven Deadly Sins manga chapter 254, whether or not I do more depends but for now lets begin.
Pointless summery: Zeldoris returns to Camelot to inform his now boss brother Meliodas that he failed to get Grayroad’s commandment from Merlin, oh that the archangels are back. Melidos the big bad demon inform little Zeldi that he knows as he saw Elizabeth and the sins formed a pact with, which leads to a slight burn from Zeldoris to Meliods “that ya gal ran off on ya”, which Meliodas response in no “problem I’m still gonna be King and once that happens no one can stop me” answer. Meanwhile Chandler is wondering what the sneaky Cusack was up to last night, but he won’t tell. We cut to finding out what progress Galand has been doing since being turned stone, which turns out birds are leaving their dropping on him while still conscious ouch. But just when things couldn’t get any worse for our favourite statue when Estarossa, only for him the break him into a million pieces to get his commandment, so much for teamwork. Back to Camelot we now follow King Arthur and his weird cat thing Cath wondering through the place like a maze because of Peronia is using some kind of illusion magic to keep them from the castle, this doesn’t last long as Cath eats her... what is up with that cat? Arthur counties on in castle only to run into Zeldoris and Cusack, which Arthur learns just how scary standing right next to them is, while Zeldoris finally learns that Arthur is the king Merlin was talking about and that he’s after the Holly Sword. Cath causes a distraction with telekinesis so Arthur can get away, only to run into Chandler though lucky enough from him not to notice the king otherwise he’d problem end up now like the late kings Drole & Gloxinia. Arthur finally reaches the Chamber where Excalibur is contained, but unfortunately Zeldoris and Cusack come busting holding a beat up Cath (that was quick couldn’t keep them busy for more than 3 pages, well is Zeldoris I guess that should be expected).
But before the two can do anything to Arthur, Meliodas enters the scene saying chill guys I know him so I’ll tell him to leave. Arthur is of course given he has been absent from what’s been going on outside of Camelot for the last couple of dozen or so chapters, confused that Meliodas is alive seeing him die and all & shocked that he is back with The Demon Clan. With Melidos answering I’m evil again and ditched my firends so get lost. Arthur does like all people who react when our heroes that let us down, gets all emotional and teary eyed crying “how could I looked up to you” speach and then the “for betraying your friends and loved ones I’ll never forgive you” rant picks up the sword he-man style. Now having the power ready to face foes in what could his most shinning moment yet. My Thoughts: The Good: The opening scene at the current lair for our current legion demons where they discus the situation they are in now that their sworn enemies are back and team up with their current enemies was thrilling, as we see how each respond to current threat. Seems that Cusack and Chandler are taking them seriously given their silent response, while Meliodas prioritises gathering the remaining commandment powers believing the archangels and the sins to be no problem as he knows once he becomes demon king it’s check mate.  I laughed at the banter that gave one another particularly Zeliodas remark that Eliabeth as abandoned Meliodas and ran off to their enemies, still showing that fully on board with his brother’s plans to for when he becomes King. While Chandler is finally curious what his old pal Cusack was up to when Peronia told him something and he went flying off, with only leading to jabs at each others ages. Despite all the demons being on the side it’s clearly still a fragile alliance at best, as each have their own agendas and loyalty they want to go through. Estarossa continues to impress me with how ruthless he is, he wasn’t kidding when he asked if he could kill his former comrades in order to acquire their commandments. He could probably get Zeliodas to undone the curse like Galand suggested or could probably now do it himself, but slacker he is nah killing you is easier. Guess when is comes to the commandments he only really cares for his brothers and even they don’t fully seem to trust him. Also I found it amusing Galand that had now become a pit stop for birds ever since he ran away from Escanor inflicting his curse upon himself.
I’m glad we got a bit more focus Arthur again and we even got to learn a bit about his cat Cath, we learn he can get a bit hungry and has psychic abilities (I wonder if he is a pokemon?), make me wonder if that cat will follow the same story as the one from the legends that kills Arthur (sorry for any spoilers). The confrontation with Zeliodas and Cusack with fun as Arthur fear of just their presence keeps them hyped up and as a threat for Arthur, because it wouldn’t a thrilling for Arthur to try and take back his kingdom if it wasn’t a challenge. It also lets Arthur know that Merlin is okay, while Zeliodas confirms who the intruder he has been having trouble with is and that it is the Holly sword Excalibur he has been trying to pull out. But the real highlight is course Arthur finding out that Meliodas is alive but he evil now and he has pulled out Excalibur and ready to face him. Nakaba Suzuki really captured emotions of how Arthur felt seeing what Meliodas his hero has become, I assume Gilthunder might of had a similar reaction if he ran into Meliodas before Margret possessed by Ludoshel didn’t get to him first (I’m hoping we going to see a torn Gilthunder about protecting his lover now possessed by a Archangel and possibly having to face his hero now a villian.) The ending shot of Arthur pulling out the sword Excalibur he-man style (even though I have never watched anything he-man related) was the best drawn page for me. The Bad: Unfortunately I have a few issues with the chapter as well. “WHY DID GALAND HAVE TO DIE!”. Sadly my favourite of the 10 commandments got smashed to pieces killing him, kinda wished it was someone else like Melascula who got enough screen time in order to show how ruthless Estarossa is. I was hoping that since he was cursed and not killed he would come back and give us one more fight, be it a rematch with Ban or just another battle in order to hype up the archangels or even some of the side characters, but I guess that flashback fight was the best we were gonna get. Well he did fair better than most other commandments who weren't’ related to Meliodas I guess, plus the anime’s back on so I need to catch up and see his best moments animated. I just hope Derieri and Monspeet last a bit longer.
I also wish Peronia wasn’t killed off to, while it did hype up the mystery surrounding Cath a bit more, it also means we have less villains for our huge cast of characters to deal with and I fear some are gonna be left out again. The Pacing kinda felt rushed with how quickly everything was progressing with Arthur, might be because we seem to get long absents of him when he should really be getting more focus. Granted I know their are some special omake chapters about his past, but I we rarely got to see him progress once the demon clan took other camelot, nor his interaction with Nanashi more. Overall Thoughts and Hopes: For my score I give this chapter a rating of 8/10 as it leaves me hyped for Arthur vs Meliodas & co (even though i’m still bitter about Galand). I hope Arthur does not die as I want to see him interact with Merlin again and see if he knows what Merlin’s true form is, along with a chance to meet Escanor and clear things up between him and Merlin (why does  Nakaba Suzuki have to make to whole romance between Esconor and Merlin so weried and complicated). I predict the fight will last 2 chapters as that how most fights in the series seem to last, but we will see.

Summary: Underneath the moon, a miraculous event occurred, the Fairy King and the Guardian Saint had reunited, a brother and sister reconciled.
Note: Hey Puddin’s. So the story is basically what I think happened between Elaine and King after they were reunited. It takes place between their scene in chapter 150 and the cover of 159. I am a HUGE sucker for siblings, and I’ve been dying to write this for a while. Enjoy. If you know the artist of the cover image, or if it’s yours, please PM me and I’ll be sure to give credit. Nanatsu no Taizai belongs to Suzuki Nakaba.
“Elaine” he breathed out stunned. This couldn’t be real, his sister couldn’t be here. But yet, she was. Standing before him, dressed in a red gown unlike anything he had ever seen her wear before, surrounded by the arms of Ban, was his little sister.
Her golden eyes softened at the sight of him, she leaned away from the Sin of Greed slightly. “Brother”, her small voice called, King barely registering it. He was stuck to his spot, how was this possible? He thought he wouldn’t see her again. When Oslow had been summoned, he knew that Elaine was a possibility, but never had he hoped for it to be real. But here she was.
Since he hadn’t made a move to come to her, Elaine thought she would try to go to him. Using Ban as leverage, she attempted to lift herself off the ground, only to stumble back down. In an instant, her undead lover wrapped his arms around her tighter to keep her from falling, and the Fairy King had his hands on her shoulders, keeping her steady. Being able to touch her made the reality of the situation fully dawn on him, and the Sin of Sloth pulled the Saint out of the bandit’s arms and into his. Tears broke through his eyes as he held onto her tightly. “I’m so sorry.” He moved his arms from her shoulders and wrapped them around her back, bowing his head lower. Through his sobs he spoke, “I know you’re mad at me, and you have every right to be, but I’m so happy you’re here.”
The newly resurrected fairy looked down gently at her brother. Cradling his head to her chest, she ran her fingers through his hair trying to comfort him. “Shh, it’s ok Harlequinn. I’m not mad. I could never be mad at my king”
Sobs continued racking through his small body. “I missed you so much, Elaine.”
“And I missed you too big brother.” They remained that way for a few more minutes, holding each other after so long apart before King helped the Saint back to Ban. After Oslow got his turn to embrace her, Escanor led the group to a place they could rest.
“Elaine, Escanor is draggin me to do a stupid chore~” Ban told his little love, looking solemn that he had to leave her. Even though she didn’t want him to go so soon after being reunited, the Lion’s Sin of Pride had done so much to help them already, so Elaine reluctantly nodded and kissed him, silently hoping he would be okay. Despite the fact that he was immortal, today had proven that their enemies were not to be taken lightly. His strong arms wrapped around her, deepening the kiss. When they pulled apart, the feel of his lips lingered on her’s. Pulling away, he turned to her brother, who had been pointedly ignoring the scene. “I’m leaving her to you~”
King gave his comrade a curt nod of understanding, though they had a recent strain on their relationship, the two now had Elaine to bond them. Ban nodded, gave his lover one last embrace, then moved to leave, with Jericho falling behind him.
“Just stay here Janko! With those injuries you’d only slow me down~” He shouted behind him, leaving the Holy Knight Apprentice fuming. Elaine giggled to herself. Feeling a breeze against her skin, the fairy moved to sit just on a small cliff in front of the cave, so that she could look out at the stars. After all the chaos of today, the peace and quiet were welcomed. She didn’t have to turn around to know that her brother was following her, floating next to her on Chastiefol. He hovered for a few minutes, before climbing off and sitting beside her. Oslow moved to lay with them, and even Jericho enjoyed the cool night from a few feet behind them.
Elaine was smiling up at the moon; the stars making her golden eyes shine brighter. “The sky is so peaceful, makes you forget about everything that’s ever happened. No matter what’s going on, the sky is there, and there are a thousand other people looking at it too. I used to sit and wonder who was looking at it with me.”
King held his head in shame. “Do you really forgive me? If seeing me makes you unhappy, let me know and I’ll let you and Ban have your peace. I can never make up for those years I left you alone, and I can never amend for not being there when you died, but I want to make this second chance the best for you.” His voice cracked several times, and fresh tears were building behind his eyes, which were shut closed, waiting for her to send him away.
What he wasn’t expecting was for her hand to cup his cheek, moving his face so that he was looking directly at her. “Harlequin, yes, when you left I was hurt. For the first century, I had thought that you were just having trouble finding Helbram and the others, so I was patient. Then after the third, I became worried that you had gotten hurt, or worse. After the fifth I realized the tree had yet to chose another Fairy King, so you had to be alive, then I got sad. I gave up hoping you would come back to that tree. I was sad because I would never get to leave, and I was so lonely, but I wasn’t mad.” Her own face was covered in tears by that point, fairies were extremely emotional creatures. “I could never be mad at you, I love you brother. And if you want to make it up to me, then never leave me again. I love Ban, but I love you too; nothing would make me happier than getting to go on adventures with you both.”
King found the courage to look at his sister’s face. Her smile was sincere and hopeful, eyes wide with joy and tears. The Fairy King pulled her into another hug, planting a kiss to her forehead, earning a high giggle. Staring back at the sky, they became content, sitting with his arm slung around her dainty shoulders, and her head leaning against his slim form. Underneath the moon, a miraculous event occurred, the Fairy King and the Guardian Saint had reunited, a brother and sister reconciled. Centuries may have passed, the barriers of life and death crossed, but the bond of siblings was stronger.
