Some Fundamental Camping Ideas For Newbies - The Fundamentals Of Having Fun In The Outdoors Are Preparation And An Open Mind
Some fundamental camping pointers for novices
Camping is essentially for those people who like the outdoors and can do without all of the conveniences of house for a brief while. However, just liking the outdoors is insufficient to ensure that the experience will be a fun one. The fundamentals of having enjoyable in the outdoors are preparation and an open mind. Preparation is easy if you follow some basic rules.
When you are preparing to plan a journey, you must pick a practical time that will give you the flexibility of one to two days. This will make the trip more about you, and less about your schedule. You might face weather problems or you may just wish to camp for an additional day. Next, select a location and make it particular. Don't simply select a county where you saw a camping site. Call the camping site or the park workplace and get appointments or details about the time you have actually allocated. Many parks more than happy to offer you information and ideas about what to expect. The most complicated step in preparation is making a list of what to bring. Making a list is essential and your list will alter drastically the more trips you take.
The first thing you need to put on your list of things to take is the things that will get you there. If you are hiking to a campground, list the variety of knapsacks. If you are merely driving to a site, list the number of cars and trucks. Then you must plan your shelter and sleeping situation.
Tumblr media
Keep in mind, camping tents are a luxury and heavy to carry. Hikers typically bring a plastic tarpaulin that can shelter up to four people. With a tarp, you can tie it between trees for cover from the elements. Sometimes you won't even need that however you can always lay the tarp on the ground to designate a tidy sleeping area. After this has been set, you will discuss what food you will need. We worry need here. Wander off from fresh fruit and vegetables and fulfills since they spoil quickly and their fragrance draws in animals and bugs. Adhere to dried food and canned items. Canned items will add weight, however they are more calorie-rich and very easy to prepare in several scenarios. Most of your food must be snacks so that you do not have to cook really much. Trail mix and yogurt-covered raisins will fill you up more than you believe, and they are a low-cost option to buying food from camping shops that hike up the rate on dried meals.
The last things you will put on your list are what will make you comfortable. Very little clothes is best. One of each kind of attire is best. One set of shorts, pants, sweatshirt, tee, and a number of sets of undergarments including socks is enough. One poncho will take up very little area. Small LED flashlights will get you around in the evening if you stray from the fire. Then make certain you have some things to keep you hectic. Books, playing cards, and a nerf football are all light and can be very entertaining for hours on end. As long as you don't start dragging along things that aren't suggested for the outdoors, you should be fine. Keep in Bushcraft Shelter that whatever will be at home when you get back. Most notably take down the things you didn't utilize and the important things you wished you brought. That will make each trip you take more satisfying and various than the last.

Tumblr media
Over the course of your adventures with your ever-growing group, Astarion appointed himself as the tailor. Stitching together any holes and tears, he’d find in someone’s clothing.
According to him, he refuses to allow himself to be seen with people who look like disgusting hobos.
He’s mainly self-taught, but after Halsin joined the party, he’s learning from him as well. Halsin himself was taught by his mother and, along the way, picked up more unconventional tricks when he looked after the children of the Emerald Grove.
You are his test dummy to try his newly found tricks on. Though, not only because you’re his lover, but because you’re usually the one who ends up with the most tears and holes in your clothes.
Just as you were now, standing in Astarions’ tent as he patches up your clothing. Some are from old tears, and others are from completely new ones in different places.
Astarion, per usual, grumbles out his disappointments. “By the gods’ love, can you ever just not rip your clothes to shreds anytime you leave camp?”
You suppress your shrug, wanting to avoid getting jabbed with a needle again. “Sorry, Star, we both know that isn’t possible.”
Astarion scoffs, rolling his eyes as he completes the last stitch. Stepping back, he tugs on the fabric, making sure his stitches are secure, and hopefully won’t be teared for at least another few weeks.
It doesn’t seem he’s done as when he stepped away to rummage through his belongings. You stay in your spot, tail curling in curiosity. He turns back around with a long piece of cloth in his hand.
“What’s that?”
“I’m not sure what to name it but, it’s for your tail. Since winter is nearing, I wanted to make you something for your tail. Just to keep you warm.”
You don’t have the heart to tell him that you don’t need one. Since you're a Tiefling, your body heat was more than enough to keep you warm during the winter months.
“Thank you, Star.”
He hummed in response, pulling the long sleeve up your tail and fastens so it won’t fall off. He left a small hole in the end for the tip of your tail to poke out, since you’ve told him before you don’t like that part of your tail being surrounded by anything since it’s the most sensitive there.
You looked at yourself in the mirror. It didn’t look bad at all. The color compliments your skin tone. Twirling and moving your tail around, you get a feel for it. It’s quite comfortable against your skin and were you more susceptible to the cold, you’d for sure be able to keep warm with this.
You hop down from the stool, turning to Astarion. “I like this a lot, love and rest assured I will keep it intact.”
Astarion snorts, grabbing your hand and pulls you to him. “You better, or I’ll make sure you wake up bloodless the next morning, hm?” He teases.
You fake an offended gasp. “You wouldn’t dare.” Leaning down, you press your forehead against his.
“Oh, love, but I would.” He giggles and places a soft kiss on your lips.

Note
finding your blog has inspired me to do this during my gap year. I'm not enjoying school atm so I'm hoping to catch break from academics and jobshadow or work as a junior camp counsellor. i'd love to know more about your story. also, do you have any tips or advice?
Hi friend, that's awesome! I totally understand not enjoying school and really wish I'd taken a gap year at several points.
My story is that I grew up in Girl Scouts and did a lot with it. I moved for college but worked at my childhood day camp for two summers. I also ran events for my local council while I was in college as part of a student group. Then, in winter 2014-15, I realized I wasn't happy in my path and applied for a job as a curriculum writer. Then I applied for summer camp and became the CIT (counselors in training) director. The next summer I was the director (long story) and then did two summers as assistant director while I was in grad school.
When I graduated, my current job became available. I applied and was hired. I've been in this position ever since. I run events, support parents and volunteers, work with the community, and more. The blog encompasses both camp stuff and my work stuff (as well as some random stuff from my life).
I have tons of tips, and they're in a variety of tags. One is my tips and tricks tag, which I've included on this one. Camp asks is another one, because those are all the questions that people have asked over the years. Some top tips are:
Take care of yourself. You can't pour from an empty cup.
You will get better the longer you do something, including being a camp staff. Your first year won't be perfect, but do your best.
Kids come first when you're on duty. Like, don't neglect your basic needs, but also you are responsible for them and need to act like it.
Every kid is different and has something they bring to the group. It's your job to bring that out.
Best wishes!

How To Insulate a Tent For Winter Camping: Guides & Tips
Tumblr media
If you question us, How to insulate a tent for winter camping? Okay, don’t be confused and just read and follow these guides and tips.
It’s winter season, and you’re planning your next outdoor adventure. You need a tent to keep you and your friends warm, dry, and safe when outdoors. You likely have many options for an outdoor tent, but one thing is certain — it will take time to properly insulate the tent and make sure that there is no condensation inside the sleeping bag.
As winter gets closer, and your trip gets more planned out, it’s time to start considering how you are going to insulate your tent for winter camping. The last thing you want is to be cold and wet on your next adventure.
If you’re like most people, you need to start thinking about the insulating your tent for winter camping much earlier in the season than the majority of people. You can simply hunt around your house for an old winter jacket or pull out an old blanket from the attic and use it as your insulation for the tent. However, if you have been using this method since you were a kid, soon enough you will find that this becomes too uncomfortable.

A/N: For the Tactician’s Soliloquy zine! I tried to capture as many different flavours of Robin (well, Chrobin, really, but shhhh). Thank you FeH for giving me so many Robin outfits to work with.
It was all Lissa’s fault. Robin wasn’t a genius strategist for no reason. He’d run the math over and over again, double checked every variable and considered each possibility. He had crossed every t and ticked every box.
The simple truth of it was that Robin was outside, in the middle of a winter wonderland, making snowballs. He was freezing his hands with the singular motivation of seeing Lissa’s eyes widen in shock, her jaw fall open in surprise. The other castle retainers and warriors were either holed up inside with warm drinks or having fun in the snow, while he was preparing for a war. If he put it all together, the only answer was the obvious one.
“I blame Lissa,” Robin muttered as he scooped a handful of snow, pressing it into a ball. His red mitts did a good job of keeping his hands warm and dry, though the tips of his fingers were starting to feel numb. It made sense. He had been out for an hour now; even wool had its limits. Even his cloak was starting to let the cold in.
“Why?” Chrom asked, cocking his head.
It was a good question. A more important one, though, was the giant snowball Chrom was pushing. At half his size, the ball was practically a lethal weapon. Part of Robin wondered just how big he could make it. “Is that a snowball?”
Chrom bit his cheek, staring at the ball. “Can it still be called that?”
All of his knowledge couldn’t answer that question. Robin shivered lightly. He’d put on as many layers as he could, all the way up to a long-sleeved red cloak with a furry hood. Even with all of that, he still felt winter’s chill in his bones. “I don’t know. Say, aren’t you cold?”
Chrom glanced down at himself. In a sleeveless red outfit, the man showed almost as much skin as Olivia did in her dance uniform. Nothing about it looked warm in the least. Even his cloak was impractical, barely hanging off his shoulders as he moved. He shrugged. “Not really. The workout’s keeping me warm.”
“Is it?” Robin frowned, doubtful. They’d been out the exact same amount of time and he didn’t even want to take off his first layer, let alone bare his skin.
Then again, maybe it was just him that felt cold. Lissa’s festive outfit matched her brother’s, exposing her arms and shoulders, while Tharja’s could barely be called clothes. Between all of four of them, he was the only one who’d bundled up like a mummy. While Robin still couldn’t entirely remember his past, he was certain that he must have come from a warm country. It was the only thing that made sense.
“Morgan takes after you.” Chrom chuckled, gesturing further down across the snowy field where Morgan hummed as she carefully put together a snow fort. She was covered head to toe in what had to be the fluffiest coat Robin had ever seen, the entire thing covered with bells that rang with every movement. He was certain that it was an elaborate trick to annoy her friends; when they’d walked through the camp, she’d rung with every step, but out here, there was only the occasional chime.
Next to her, Lucina crouched, looking utterly awkward as she patted snow onto the fort’s walls in a bid to help. Unlike her father, she had the wisdom to cover her arms, though Robin was certain the red material was as thin as Chrom’s. “And Lucina you.”
Robin’s boot crunched as he walked over to his growing pile of snowballs, dropping his latest batch there. There had to be over three dozen by now, but it still wasn’t enough. Maybe another dozen and they could then ‘invite’ Lissa over.
“What were you saying about Lissa?” Chrom pressed as he went back to rolling his snowball. The landscape looked flattened with each step he took.
“Oh, just…” Robin trailed off, not sure if he really wanted to explain. He’d always liked pranks. Unlike Frederick, he knew how to relax and have a good time. There were plenty of times he and Lissa had even worked together to surprise the others.
Yet, the moment Lissa had turned her eye on him, all hell had broken loose. Pranking was almost a daily thing now. Robin wasn’t sure if he’d always been this petty and childish, or if just dealing with her had made him so. Even now, he had roped in Chrom and the others to help him set up a snowball fight to take her down.
It was, admittedly, getting out of hand.
Robin did not want to say any of this aloud. The whole thing felt silly as is; it’d feel even worse if he told someone.
“I think she’ll like this,” Robin mumbled lamely, unable to think of a better excuse.
Luckily, as perceptive as Chrom could be sometimes, he was for the most part a dense brick. He grinned, muscles straining as the snowball doubled in size. “Yeah, I think so too. As much as she hates winter, she’s always liked playing in the snow. We used to do it a lot as children.”
“Really?” Somehow, it wasn’t hard to imagine. Chrom still had a boyish side to him, no matter how old he got.
“Yeah. We’d toss snowballs, make snow angels…” Chrom chuckled, rubbing his neck as he remembered. “I’m pretty sure we got colds every other week from how much snow we dumped on each other. Frederick panicked a lot then. Emmeryn…” He faltered for a moment, his expression darkening. “Emmeryn scolded us for an hour but it didn’t help.”
“Didn’t peg you for a troublemaker,” Robin teased gently, trying to coax a smile out of him.
Chrom shrugged, laughing. “You know how Lissa is; she drags everyone into trouble.”
“You too?” That made him feel marginally better. Glancing at Chrom, he raised a brow. At this point, he had to ask. The boulder-sized snowball was impractical no matter what he came up with—too big for a snowman, useless for a snow fort, a lethal weapon in a snowball fight. “What’re you making?”
Chrom pursed his lips, gaze flickering between Robin and the ball. “Actually, I’m not sure anymore,” he admitted sheepishly. “I kinda just want to see how big it’ll get.”
“I…get that.” It was just so big and gravity had yet to claim it. Fortunately, Miriel wasn’t here, or they’d be running and experimenting on it. “Just make sure it doesn’t roll away from you. At this size, it’d probably flatten a village.”
“Definitely not,” Chrom agreed, shuddering at the thought. “We already have enough to repair as is. And Frederick would kill us.”
“We might already be dead from the bear jerky,” Robin countered with a grin.
Chrom snorted, his eyes bright. “I’m sure he’d find a way to kill us again.”
“Father!” Morgan called out and Robin looked up to find his daughter waving frantically.
“What?” Robin asked, cocking his head curiously.
“Over there!” Morgan pointed, urgency ringing clear in her voice.
Robin followed her finger until he spotted a blonde-haired speck in the distance. He didn’t have to see more to recognize Lissa. Or to realize that she was carrying her war axe. Next to her, Henry skipped gleefully, Frederick marched solemnly, and Tharja smiled threateningly. A cold, heavy feeling sank into the pit of his stomach. “Just what did she tell them?”
Not that it mattered. Lissa had figured out his plan and was declaring an attack. Quickly, Robin dropped the last of his snowballs behind the fort. It wasn’t fully ready, but there was not time for perfection anymore. They’d have to make due with what they had. “Everyone, prepare for battle!”
Whatever the outcome, there would be no winners. Just a massacre, followed by a revenge prank.
Robin narrowed his eyes.
Really, it was all Lissa’s fault it’d come to this.

An Unwanted Meeting Pt. 1
Aquarius has gotten a new job at the Ice Cream Joint, where ironically; employees need to dress up as clowns, because the joint is clown themed. The main reason for Aquarius to gain her opportunity to work there, is that if she can do tricks and attract customers, she’ll get an extra pay. So it was going right for Aquarius and her family.
It’s summer, and summer means summer camp, and summer camp means kids, and kids mean food! Which doesn’t make things any better for Aquarius; since kids don’t sin. Also, her cousin is away for training for work and the Voorhees were vacationing to Ambrose. “I know you don’t allow Papawise to visit us, but he’s the only source to your babysitting problem.” Pennywise said while he does pushups. “Maybe it’d be a lot easier if you don’t go to summer camp just to hunt for the kid’s flesh, and stay home with the kids.” Aquarius responded. Pennywise shook his head ‘no’. “You don’t understand; when summer is over, kids don’t play in the fall, since it’s too cold and boring. So gathering a lot of kids and their fears can last me until winter.” Pennywise explained. As much as Aquarius wanted Pennywise to stay home, she had to agree that what Pennywise needed to do is for the sake of his and Kandy’s health. “If it’s the only option you have to take... I’ll accept.” Aquarius said in a sad tone.
Pennywise finished his pushups to be able to hang on to the bottom of the bus, Pennywise climbed into bed and spoke with almost-half-asleep Aquarius. “I know it’s hard to keep the house running by yourself, but I can assure you that Papawise will do whatever he could to make your daily life easier.” Pennywise said before he kissed her by the nose. Aquarius giggled in her sleep. “By the nose, really?” Aquarius asked with her one eye open. “Well I don’t want to wake you up from your so-called sleep, I have to let you breathe.” Pennywise chuckled. Aquarius smirked after she snorted. “Get over here and kiss me properly!” Aquarius said as she took her arms out for his better access. Pennywise got on top of her and kissed her nonstop while stripping his clothes and then hers.
***
After Pennywise left for his hunt, Aquarius has to put up with the kids in the evenings, while Papawise comes over early in the morning and look after the kids, while Aquarius goes to work at the Ice Cream Joint. Aquarius does alright at work, even if her manager is all bossy and snooty, but she gets good pay and tips for her great entertainment while serving and give the customers a positive mood.
When it was time to close down, Aquarius came home, looking like a tired ol’ wreck. “I could really use a hot bath right about now...” Aquarius groaned to herself. But as she entered the house, it was a mess. “What the hell, PAPAWISE?” Aquarius shouted out to him. Papawise shushed Aquarius quickly before she could make more outbursts. “I just put Kandy to sleep; you’re good for the rest of the night.” Papawise whispered. “That’s nice... Now, you don’t suppose you could clean up the mess that you and the kids have made, would you?” Aquarius said, giving Papawise the hint. “Oh I wish I could... But I’ve thrown my back from giving Kandy a horsy-ride...” Papawise said while placing his hand on his back. “If you wanted to keep your job, I’ll need to have some rest so I can babysit the kids tomorrow.” Papawise added as he limps towards the door.
Aquarius sighed before she turns around to view the mess. “With Kandy sleeping, it should give me some time to--” That is until she heard Kandy crying for attention. “Clean...” Aquarius moaned at the end. What Aquarius didn’t realize is that Papawise was only pretending to be hurt, so he wouldn’t have to do the cleaning.
***
Every morning, Aquarius wakes up at 6:30 in the morning to get cleaned up and make breakfast, while Papawise comes in to be with his little grand-clowns. Kandy was the first kid to wake up at 7:15, so Papawise takes her to the kitchen to give her some baby food, which is known to be grinned up flesh from kids. Aquarius got herself ready for work; before she leaves though, she needed to talk to Papawise. “Papawise, maybe you can do some cleaning around the house while you settle Kandy down for a nap; it’d be very much appreciated.” Aquarius suggested and requested. Papawise smirked. “I’ll see what I can do... That is, if you bring home some ice cream for me and the kids tonight, I’ll do more than just clean the house.” Papawise replied. Aquarius rolled her eyes before she agrees to his request. “I’ll see what I can do; I like to inform you that getting ice cream for me or someone else will come from my pay cheque.” Aquarius warned. “Yeah yeah, sure, now get a roll-on on your roller skates and make some dough.” Papawise cheered, while holding Kandy’s hands in the air.
Aquarius rolled her eyes back before she left, that is until she heard her son. “Don’t worry mom, I’ll try my best to do some of your house work.” Archie offered. Aquarius smiled in awe before Papawise spoke. “There we go! See, Archie here can clean up the place!” Papawise said with a big grin. “But you’ll have to do your part still, Pops.” Archie said. Aquarius laughed before she leaves. “Take care you two.” Aquarius said before she blew a kiss. “Oh we will... won’t we sport!” Papawise laughed as he gave his grandson-clown a noogie. “I wasn’t even talking to you, I’m saying ‘take care’ to Archie and Kandy.” Aquarius informed. After Aquarius shut the door behind her, Papawise said to Archie: “I guess your mom only blew me a kiss instead...” Papawise whispered loudly to Archie and Kandy. “NO I DIDN’T.” Aquarius shouted, after she have heard what Papawise said. “Mom was part-cat, so she has a good sense of hearing.” Archie chuckled.
***
Whenever Aquarius goes to work, her boss and the other employees think of her as Scarlet Grey. Which is fine; the name was in her resume anyway. “Scarlet, I need you to serve the two customers over by the window; a few of my co-workers didn’t want to go near them.” The boss ordered. “Yes ma’am.” Aquarius agrees before she took a notebook and pen.
When she approached the two men, she sees no reason why they don’t like them; sure, one was shaggy and looked like he hasn’t been bathed in weeks, but the other guy looks fit, yet, all white with black make-up, not like a goth person, since he’s wearing a black beret and a black and white stripped turtleneck; Aquarius assumed that he’s a mime. At first, she’s not bothered by him, but as she was about to take their order, the mime stared in shock when he saw her name tag. “Scarlet? Scarlet Jones? Is that you?” The mime asked. “Uhm, you boy’s orders please?” Aquarius said, not answering his question. “Scarlet it’s me, Lucas! From the Circus Academy.” The Mime said as he got up to stand in front of her. “Back away from me you creep!” Aquarius scolded. “SCARLET...” Her boss shouted out to her. So Aquarius wheeled over towards the employee’s lounge.
Aquarius got in trouble for snapping at one of the customers and called them names, which was not very professional. “Look, Samantha, that mime stood in front of me and got into my personal space.” Aquarius explained. “I understand, but you still shouldn’t yell at a customer; I’m afraid I’ll have to make you do the cleanup duty until 7:00 tonight.” The boss explained. “I’m afraid that won’t work, I have someone at home looking after my kids until 6:00.” Aquarius informed. “I’ll give you time to call home and explain that you’ll be home late.” The boss replied. Aquarius nodded with a sigh and walks over to the phone to call home.
***
After the phone call and the hours of work, Aquarius starts cleaning up the parlor after it closed. “Scarlet, you got a napkin-note from the mime.” One of the employees said as she gave it to Aquarius.
“Dear Blue Tutu Sorry I got you in trouble back there, I’ve asked your boss to give you a huge tip. Take care.
Warm Regards: Lucas the Mime
Aquarius scrunched up the napkin after remembering who that mime was, she thought she would never remember him, but now. Her memory came back; back when her clown name was Blue Tutu.
Blue Tutu and Lucas the Mime used to be separate and did their own performances to entertain the kids and adults. Blue Tutu with her floating balloon animals trick, and her flying trapeze act. With Lucas doing his usual Mime acts and sometimes does some crazy dances that made him look like he’s boneless.
But as the performances were running short and low, Scarlet and Lucas have to do the performances together. Which was completely fine with Scarlet, she had a secret crush on him since she first came to the school. Lucas however, didn’t have any interest in Scarlet, not in a romantic way anyway; He’s actually only into the same sex as his.
However, we’re not talking about his sex life, this is about how Blue Tutu and Lucas the Mime became viral with the viewers beliefs; the viewers think that the two of them had a thing for each other.
-----------
Aquarius didn’t remember why or how, but she remembered that after the successful tour around the province, Lucas asked her out, which got her very excited. The poor young clown was so gullible that she didn’t realize that she was being used for money.
When she did find out, after seeing Lucas with some agent, he gave him some money; which got her very confused. “Thanks for the money boss, but where do I go from there?” Lucas asked. “Once you keep going out with that clown girl, and have my crew go out and snap secret photos, we’ll make a fortune. Just keep it up on your scam and you’ll be rich.” The agent said. Scarlet was heartbroken, she’s been sold out... For money!
After the Agent left, Scarlet walked over to Lucas with a straight face. “Hi Luke, who was that guy?” Scarlet asked, pretending to be clueless. “Oh... Uhm, he’s just an agent; he owed me money, so he paid me back.” Lucas fibbed. “Funny, you never informed me about some agent since we’ve dated.” Scarlet thought out loud. Lucas sweated from inside of his hat; that’s when she gave him the death stare. “What did you do?” Scarlet asked in a serious tone. Lucas decided to come clean, just so he doesn’t get wrecked. “I’m only going out with you, so that the people will fav. and comment on our rumor...” Scarlet was stoned. “FAV. AND COMMENT? You put us on the INTERNET... For MONEY?” Scarlet nearly started to cry. “Scarlet please, just let me explain--” “YOU NEVER LOVED ME... YOU’RE USING ME!” Scarlet became so angry that she slapped him in the face before she ran off.
Flashback Ends
When Aquarius finished cleaning up the joint, she locked the doors and drove home from work. She walked in and saw Papawise on the couch with Kandy in his arms, along with Archie trying to clean the kitchen. “Oh... Hi mom, I’m just trying to clean up the mess I’ve caused... While trying to do the dishes... But I guess I’ve used too much dish soap.” Archie said with guilt. “It’s alright son, thank you for trying. At least it won’t take long for me to clean up the kitchen in the morning.” Aquarius said before she walks towards her room. “Hey Star, what about the ice cream?” Papawise reminded as he got up to put Kandy to bed. “I’m sorry, but there aren’t any ice cream today.” Aquarius said as she continues walking towards her room. “Aren’t any ice cream? what kind of Ice Cream Joint are you working at?” Papawise asked himself out loud.
Of course, Aquarius didn’t answer, she just slammed the door behind her. Aquarius stripped out of her uniform and collapsed onto her side of the bed while bawling into the pillow, not just because she was exhausted, but because she was upset about what she have remembered from over a decade ago.

Planning Your Dream Trip to Mongolia: Tips and Tricks
Tumblr media
Mongolia is one of the most unique and fascinating travel destinations worldwide. From the Gobi Desert's rugged beauty to Ulaanbaatar's vibrant culture, there's something for every traveler in Mongolia. But planning a trip to this remote country can be daunting, especially if you need to become more familiar with the culture or the logistics of traveling there. Here are some tips and tricks to help you plan your dream travel to Mongolia:
1. Research and Plan your Trip
The key to a successful travel to Mongolia is to plan. Research the best times to visit, the places you want to see, and the activities you want to do. Make a list of your must-see destinations and prioritize your itinerary. Mongolia is a big country, so you must plan your route and travel times between each destination.
2. Decide on your itinerary
Mongolia is a vast country, so deciding which regions you want to visit and what activities you want to do is essential. If you're interested in hiking, horseback riding, or visiting nomadic families, the countryside is a must-see. If you're more interested in history and culture, you'll want to spend time in Ulaanbaatar and visit many museums and temples.
3. Choose your travel season
Mongolia has extreme weather conditions, with hot summers and freezing winters. The best time to visit is between June and September when the weather is mild, and the countryside is lush and green. However, this is also peak tourist season, so you must book accommodations and tours well in advance.
4. Get your visa and travel documents in order
Most visitors to Mongolia will need a visa, which can be obtained at the Mongolian embassy or consulate in your home country. You'll also need a valid passport with at least six months of validity remaining, and you may need to show proof of onward travel.
5. Book your accommodations and tours
Mongolia has a range of accommodations, from luxury hotels in Ulaanbaatar to ger camps in the countryside. You'll want to book your accommodations and tours well in advance, especially if you're traveling during peak season. Many tour operators can arrange customized itineraries, or you can book directly with a ger camp or local guide.
6. Pack for the weather and the activities
Mongolia has rugged terrain, so you'll want to pack sturdy shoes and comfortable clothing for hiking, horseback riding, and other outdoor activities. The weather can also be unpredictable, so bring layers and a waterproof jacket. And remember to pack a hat and sunscreen for the sunny days!
Tumblr media
7. Respect the culture and the environment
Mongolia has a rich and unique culture, so respecting the local customs and traditions is essential. This includes dressing modestly when visiting temples and not disturbing nomadic families or their livestock. You'll also want to be mindful of the environment and practice responsible tourism, such as not leaving trash behind and supporting local conservation efforts.
8. Experience Nomadic Culture
Mongolia is known for its nomadic culture; staying in a traditional ger (yurt) is a unique and immersive experience. Many tour operators offer ger stays with nomadic families, allowing you to experience traditional Mongolian hospitality and culture.
9. Explore the Great Outdoors
Mongolia is a nature lover's paradise, offering stunning natural landscapes and wildlife. Hiking, horseback riding, and camping are popular activities in Mongolia. You can also explore the Gobi Desert, ride a camel, and go bird-watching.
With these tips and tricks, you'll be well on your way to planning your dream trip to Mongolia. Whether you're seeking adventure in the countryside or exploring Ulaanbaatar's vibrant culture, Mongolia will leave a lasting impression on any traveler.
