The Mighty Nein are so funny because Matt’s just there like, “Lorenzo was supposed to get away. You were not supposed to keep the Happy Fun Ball. You were NOT meat to go to Xhorhas. Trent was supposed to escape—” Mighty Nein just steamrolling their way through their own campaign. They do what they want. The DM’s long-term plans have no authority over this party

yes c2 has been over for a long time and the critical role fandom has always had a glaring misogyny problem so this post doesn’t say anything new but idc!
i want to talk about the very stale take (which apparently still exists because i just saw it???) that “early campaign beau is hard to sympathize with because boohoo she’s mean :( and we don’t learn anything about her for a long time so i am simply incapable of liking her until she’s more agreeable for my misogynist brain :(” and idk about you but nothing says “i’m only watching cr for the men” more than that statement because it’s the biggest lie lmfao
from the very beginning it was clear beau had been mistreated in the past and was using her bravado to deflect. that’s just... using literally the most basic form of human intuition lmao. by episode four we know that her father paid the cobalt soul to take her in against her will and as early as episode two she tries to deflect any questions about her family/home. at the end of ep 4 we have more clues about her trauma/past than any of the other characters! and we know her I’m So Tough act is just that because she gravitates towards quite literally the first little girl they come across who needs help. marisha even says on talks machina that beau is projecting with toya, and idk about you but when a young woman who’s been shipped off by her father tries to help a little girl with no family, i think it’s really easy to put two and two together.
no, trauma is never an excuse for your behaviour whether it’s mild or not, but to say you can’t sympathize with early campaign beau with all of those context clues is fucking wild.

C3E45 reaction
No comments in regards to the dnd drama at large.  I have mixed thoughts, mixed thoughts in regards to CR’s statement, and just everything.
How was this episode only three and half hours, I feel like we got so MUCH!!
I have speculation - the first of which is I wonder if Sam out of game spoke to the group between last session and this and said that he really wanted FCG to have a chance to meet with the professor.  It’s quite possible that this was just the roleplay, but it did change between last episode seeming like they clearly were not stopping for it, with the change to definitely stopping for it this time.  Possibly same with Laura re: Imogen and Kadijah Sumal - but that one feels more like just roleplay initiative as I know Laura’s aware of the time she’s had in the spotlight and I can’t see her pushing for another section while she’s still in the thick of it.
The second speculation is I’m 95% sure that Matt ran a one on one for Taliesin, at least on some level.  Maybe not a full session, but there had to have been some back and forth and rolls involved in that.  It SOUNDS like how a fast paced one on one could go, but it also sounds like a combination of Taliesin and Matt’s ideas, so I’m not 100% sure.
Speaking of: Ashton’s absence.  I’m really glad that it got brought into the narrative the way that it did, it gave Taliesin some information that the party didn’t have (or at least tied him into aspects of it) allowing him to feel like he was being helpful even if Ashton was absent.   Also, Taliesin’s masterful having Ashton approach in disguise, pulling one on the players instead of the PCs.  I’m not sure how much they bought into it, but it seemed like at least a few of them were seriously wondering if he brought a new PC.
Not too much new for FCG but a nice confirmation of what they already knew, plus the addition that their model was designed for caring and guiding.  Love how Sam is playing into the indecision and the fear/stress that FCG has about having to determine their own path rather than just having it stated for them.  Matt’s NPC?  AMAZING.  GLORIOUS.  I LOVE EVERY SECOND OF IT.  Don’t remember the name at all, Indvol?  WHO KNOWS.  I hope he’s a reoccurring NPC though.  In my mind, THIS is the Victor/Zorth/Orly of C3.  This is the first time the voice has cut through so much of the table!
Also - easy bake oven.  what the fuck sam, also this is amazing, but also what the fuck.
AND THEN FUCKING LUDINUS DA’LETH WITH IMOGEN AND FEARNE OH FUCK OH FUCK OH FUCK
One - Khadijah Sumal = fantastic, love her.  The quiet paranoia played perfectly, but sadly not paying off.  Ludinus coming in is one of the events which I wonder if Matt had on a timeline.  If the party hadn’t stopped by Khadijah’s today, would Ludinus still have gotten the papers now and hit her with the spell?  I suspect so, this seems like a somewhat fixed timeline - whenever the party got to Yios, that’s when Ludinus would be there, if they interacted with Khadijah or not.
I don’t remember Ludinus too much from C2, but I vaguely remember him being more genial?  Maybe that was just because he was in the Empire at the time, and was dealing with Cobalt!Beau and Empire!Caleb (and CharmingConfusingPutsYouOffBalance!Jester).  I’m only starting e66 on my rewatch, so I feel like I’ve got a decent bit of episodes before they have their next/first real interaction with Ludinus.
FEYWILD FEYWILD YES YES YES YES
Possible controversial comment!  My C2 rewatch has only shown to me how much more alive the locations and settings for C2 felt versus the ones for C3 (for me).  They felt much more varied and rich and lived in, whereas I’ve struggled with the feeling of that for C3.  I think the Heartmore Hamlet felt fleshed out, as well as Bassuras, but a lot of the more landscapy areas (the journey to and from the Heartmore, the travel over the Wilds in the airship) have felt more generic or rushed, like this campaign is much less about travel and exploration than C2 and a lot more of Big Storyline.  But the Feywild completely felt alive and living and rich and detailed.  I have two theories as to why.  One - Matt not only gave a description of the area, but immediately had the opportunity to have a location interaction with the players (the flowers and the trees).  I’m finding that similar to some of the C2 descriptions, where the locations will be described and then a much smaller tighter aspect will be interacted with.  That’s both on Matt and on the players, if that’s what’s causing it.  The other theory (and this is super controversial I know) is that I know Matt has had several co-creators for Marquet, and likely several cultural consultants.  I wonder if this means that when he is describing a location, he feels more pressured to really describe how it is on the sheet (so opening with a very long detailed description that while fun ends up getting lost quickly) and maybe a bit more reluctant to improv areas or descriptions of it.
NANA MORRI.  I love her and watching Ashley be so thoroughly delighted by every aspect of the Feywild and her home and her grandmother is the BEST.  Not a hag though!  Or at least not one that I’m familiar with!

There have been some that are concerned with the idea that Campaign 2 could be drawing to an end soon. Whether that’s true or not, it seems the right time to bring this topic up.
The transition to a new campaign can be an intense struggle. After all, you’ve grown to know and love these characters over the years and saying goodbye is the hardest thing to do.
But take it from a Critter who started with Campign 1: you’ll be okay.
Will it be hard? Yes. Will you want to start watching Campaign 3 straight away? Likely not. In fact, in the time spent before the start of the new campaign and even during it, you’ll probably want to go back and rewatch some if not all of Campaign 2. Just like some C1 Critters had to do.
Finding a coping mechanism is the key to enjoying the new campaign, whether it is diving straight into the campaign or easing in gently. Remember that there will be plenty of references from the previous campaign sprinkled (see?) throughout the next and you’ll be in a position to appreciate every subtle joke, every exchange of looks, every smirk that passes between the cast when even the most vague call-back happens. Not to mention the absolute ecstasy that occurs when a familiar name or an NPC is dropped in. C1 Critters were able to enjoy a whole other level to Campaign 2 because of this and C2 Critters can do so for Campaign 3, so there’s something to look forward to.
On another note, it might also be difficult to cope with the new generation of Critters who will arrive in the wave of Campaign 3, ones who might not want to go back and watch the ‘older stuff’ because ‘that would take too long’ and because ‘it’s an old format and we’re used to the new stuff’ etc. There will, of course, be some new Critters who WILL go back and watch it so that they can appreciate the entire journey of Critical Role - appreciate those Critters!
Some (not all) C3 Critters will likely judge previous campaign characters without actually knowing them and the comparisons may be biased and unfair which could get under your skin a bit. Actually, it could get you downright mad! Try your best not to rise to those trolls. I have to remind myself of that whenever I see anyone talking unfairly about a C1 character and yeah, it can hurt.
Remind yourself that the cast of Critical Role love and adore each of their characters from the previous campaigns just as much as you do.
Moving on is hard but you can do it!

We are all gonna fly~y~y
Yes, that’s right, it’s time once again for the hugely popular (lol) series, Aruelle Rewatches Silversun! By which I mean everyone other than @bloggish should update their tag blockers.
So when we left off, C2, Cyriax’s secret clone, got a Pancha boost and is now a certified genius, which means the whole organ bag things is a bust and also they’re gonna need to get tattoos or something because nobody will be able to tell him and Cyriax apart. Also Deegs and Mara are dating, because Mara wants to groom him for leadership and Deegs wants “what’s easier”, which... WOW. Also also Zandi just found out about them so get ready for another rebellion I guess.

C2: You Tried, You Failed, Let’s Go to Sleep
Warnings: Cursing,
Sides/Characters Present: Remy, Roman
Ao3
C1 C2 C3
A/N: roman sweetie no
Fading into the imagination was always an experience, with the sharpness of reality gaining an unearthly blur to it, akin to an Instagram filter. That alone was enough to disorient the other sides from ever stepping foot in here, most anyway, but Roman simply felt at home with the knowledge that nothing was real.
When they were summoned it was always disorienting trying to differentiate what was Thomas’s reality and whatever tended to float in from the imagination that only Roman could see. All around him the earthy greens of today’s forest he imagined were heavenly, with a vibrant array of flowers and creatures peeking and popping up wherever he passed. Ah, to be a prince-
“No,” he shook his head, trying in vain to ignore the lure of the forest, the call for adventure, “I am serious. I am here on business I am-Oh are those-” he slapped his face lightly scolding, “ No -no. Roman you royally handsome blunderbuss, no”
He continued forward, trying to avoid plopping down to admire the most gorgeous of golden flowers streaked with the finest shades of lavender,  clearly the remains of when he watched Tangled earlier that week.
Gritting his teeth, he made his way towards the center of the forest. Eventually, the trees thinned to a meadow of grasses and Roman nearly swooned when he heard the ever familiar trickle of the river.
Today, the Imagination decided to switch things up, with his castle of silver, gold, and marble instead being a cottage, specifically the ever fair, Snow-White's cottage. And he always loved those days,  usually when work was low, and the mind palace was relaxed enough for him to pump out some especially spectacular ideas with little resistance from the others.
With a flourish of his hand, he none so gently willed the cottage door to open-
“Gah!” he screamed, as heavy death metal instantly poured out of the house in waves. His senses were rattled, and the forest, as a result, seemed to flip the switch in terms of atmosphere. Leafy greens and iridescent flowers, all turned a disgusting shade of sepia in an instant. Usually, it would take longer for his aesthetic to be so easily changed, but then again it was a long time since his space was so...blatantly invaded.
‘Remy certainly made no hesitation to make himself at home’, he wondered with a curl of his lip, peeking his head in slightly.  The cottage itself was an absolute mess, but that’s not strange. Roman was used to a constant layer of torn fabric, broken jewelry,  and half-written papers to cover the floor. But the strange thing was that it smelled distinctly of coffee and smoke.
Both things that had no business in his domain.
“Remy?” he called, stepping carefully over an idea pile, lovingly named ‘Squishy’ because it was overall the smallest. The music was still ear-splittingly loud, getting louder by the second, but he couldn’t find a sprite in sight.
His eyes flew to the rafters, “Remy? Remington-” they narrowed, spotting the layer of a dust-like substance covering the ceiling like a blanket.
He dusted the non-existent peasant dirt from his hands, cracked his knuckles, and like the purple, crusty, raisin, he snapped.
Sand fell from the sky easily, and his culprit was found. Five-Inch tall Remy was hovering upside down, his dusty-yellow wings beating rapidly despite his sluggish demeanor. In his hand was a Starbucks cup from Mufasa knows where, and floating beside him was the tiny-demon stereo blasting it's nauseatingly loud music.
“Fair Remington?” Roman called, smoothing his sash, “A moment, if you please?”
No response.
Roman’s smile twitched, “Uh- Remy, pal of mine?”
Remy peered over his sunglasses, glancing everywhere but Roman
Princey's smile was a bit too bright now, “Remy? Rem? Remy-” he inhaled, seeing no further changes.
“SLEEP.” he bellowed, his voice like a record scratch for the entire room, with the music freezing.
Sleep jolted, “Wha-Oh,” he swooped slightly, before fluttering upright, “Sup, girl.” he waved, taking a long sip from his coffee, “You ditching work too?”
“Work, what do you mean work-” Roman frowned, “I’m here because you trashed the mind palace at 3 in the morning-”
“Trashed is such a strong word, my sweet prince,” Remy’s wings slowed, “In fact, who’s asleep at 3-am anyway? Time is for losers and Thomas enjoyed my little gift anyway, got to rewatch Parks and Recreation and everything.”
Roman groaned, hands sliding down his face, “Now listen here you are-,” his face  dropped and he gasped, “ No, I didn’t-Wait Remy?”
“Yo.”
“When I created you-”
“That's a gross way of putting it, my dude.”
“Not the point.” Roman hissed, hands flinging out, “You mentioned a job earlier? Did I assign you a job when I made you? Is that why you’re still here”
To be completely honest, Roman couldn’t remember much that night. Thomas had pulled another all-nighter from his urginging and when they had finally went to sleep, Roman had went to the Imagination to amuse himself before the dreams kicked in and he had to turn in.
“Girl,” he smirked, tossing his tiny coffee behind him, “Haven’t you heard? I’m the sandman, making dreams and what-not.”
Roman laughed, “I’m the dream-man, “ he said gesturing to his princely attire, that was radiating a satisfying shade of light.
Sleep pursed his lips,“If I remember it correctly…” He swooped lower, now eye level with Princey, “Sweaty, you’re creativity.”
“Yes, that is me,” Roman’s throat felt dry, “Dashing Prince of Thomas’s every desire.”
Remy peered over the top of his sunglasses, “I handle the dreams he can actually experience, hon.”
Roman scoffed, offended, “Pardon me,’ sandman’, “He mocked, “I’m doing my best, and my best looks damn good, I’ll have you know.”
Remy materialized a floating chair of sand. He spun it around and sat down, facing Roman, “Oh really?” he laid his head down on his arms, “Please, like, do tell me more.”
“While the offer to talk about myself is tempting,” In the distance, Virgil was slamming his head into the nearest brick wall, “ I must refrain,”  Roman tapped his jaw, “A sprite shouldn’t be causing such havok, naturally . So I’ll have to take your “sand” away, you merge back with the Imagination, and the Mindscape is restored... and Lo won’t have my head, agreed?”
Sleep snorted, “Oh yeah totally.”
“Fantastic,” Roman beamed.
Remy raised an eyebrow, “Girl, JK , like no.”  he summoned another Starbucks and took a sip,  “You really like think I’m going back? After like  all these years?”
“You did agree? But don’t worry the process is nice and snappy,”
“Uh,” Remy stilled, dissipating the chair, “Well let me tell you a secret,” he landed on Roman’s shoulder.
Prince perked up, “Secret?”
Taking that cue, Remy leaned in close. The air around them had gotten thicker and Roman could feel his eyelids droop, the pleasant sensation was...was...was..
Remy blew a kiss, “Not today satan.” he whispered.
Lucid.

even though i’ve seen code geass twice before
i somehow missed out on a lot of the stuff I got into for other fandoms
like thinking of AUs and finding fanfic close to those AUs and fanart of ships
like, i wasn’t as avid at all those things as i am now
and now i’m rewatching it for the 2nd time. It’s been almost four years. My first rewatch almost predates my entrance to the yaoi universe
lelouch/suzaku is prob one of the biggest ships of all the anime i’ve seen that has an inordinate amount of doujinshi, but I never had interest
but HELLOOOOO interest
cuz, in between my last rewatch, and now, I actually figured out ways to get myself into ships that I hadn’t been into for a long time (coughcough timkon and jaytim) and now it is so easy to get me into a ship. Give me some gorgeous smexy fanart and the right chemistry and BAM i’m gone.
though these guys most definitely must be the most tragic of all my ships.
but so, in my rewatch now, i’m ALSO thinking of AUs for me to list of different canon divergences.
Thems below the cut
1) Canon Divergence AU where after the Mao incident, Lelouch doesn’t mindwipe Shirley.
She’s near inconsolable in regards to thinking she’s a murderer, and hysterical about Lelouch being Zero and responsible for her father’s death. But she’s in too deep. She was willing to kill to protect Lelouch, even knowing he was Zero, whom she also contemplated killing.
Lelouch, when he was going to attempt to use geass, made the mistake of saying, “I can make you forget” and she doesn’t want that. She doesn’t know what he’s gonna do but she blocks his face and shields herself. “Shirley, then what do you want?” “To stay by your side.”
She stays by Lelouch’s side, but she’s not the cheerful girl she once was. She’ll smile at him, but it’s gentle and pained, and he can’t remember the last time he heard her laugh.
Lelouch refuses to let Shirley get involved in the Black Knights.
Shirley's paranoid about Lelouch’s identity being discovered, and sneaks around, following him when he isn’t in a mask. She still carries Lelouch’s gun.
Lelouch selfishly finds comfort in having Shirley with him, physically and emotionally. Not having to hide or lie. He does care about her.
She eventually gets him to relent and allow her to be involved in his resistance, but insists that she hide her identity like he does. He doesn’t introduce her as anyone special though, so his people wouldn’t get suspicious or jealous. She isn’t the only member to wear a mask other than zero, for protection.
They have their private moments during missions.
Shirley is the one who lies and hides to keep Lelouch safe. All she can think about is what would’ve happened that night she found out his identity if she’d done nothing. So she makes sure she always does something, even if she doesn’t have the right skills, she makes do. For Lelouch.
I imagine them as a kind of lost, tragic, dark couple.
2) PERSONA 5 AU
all the stuff about geass is actually related to the other world and shadows and personas. Geass is a power used by channeling one’s shadow self. They remain two separate entities but in that moment join to trigger their power. The two worlds overlap in that moment, and because of the power of the other world, said “magical” like effects happen in the physical world.
Geass is weaker than a persona because it is the unawakened other-self.
Lelouch has been channeling his shadow self, but Suzaku is the first to awaken his persona. It is only due to Suzaku’s awakening (when he comes to terms with the fact he killed his father) that Lelouch is even made aware that there is something stronger than geass. Gosh, Lelouch’s other self would be fascinating to see converse with his normal self.
If I was a better read person I’d totally assign everyone their personas, like how in p5 they’re characters of legend. Maybe pull some gods or goddesses from myth, or significant literary characters.
People who’d awaken to personas!!
Suzaku
Lelouch
Kallen
Shirley
Nunnally (the support role)
C2
Euphemia
Rolo
All the crazy stuff with the geass temples and the emperor’s obsession is about him wanting access to that other world, or rather to merge the worlds into one.
PALACES, characters who’d be targeted to get a change of heart
Clovis
Cornelia
Rolo
Schneizel
Marianne
V2
Emperor Charles
It’s possible to enter people with geass’ palaces because their other selves still slumber. Yes, Rolo is both one whose heart they change and he joins the team after that.
3) Psycho Pass AU
Britannia and Japan still are as is in canon. Japan is under Britannia’s control, but it’s Britannia’s use of the Sibyl System that has allowed it widespread control of the world. First the system was implemented through a joint effort, then control was slowly wrenched away from the original government.
There was no war. It’s the distinct lack of fighting that is different in this universe
The Royal family controls the Sibyl System, which leaves them as exceptions in its judgement. Though the system is exactly the same otherwise. Rather than the royals be unjudgeable, the system was built to not be critical of them, anyone within the royal bloodline.
Suzaku is an enforcer, has been ever since he killed his father, the prime minister who opposed partnering with Britannia and implementing the Sibyl System. But the fact that he killed his father is a close guarded secret within the government. Most in the agency, even Lelouch don’t know this truth.
Lelouch is an inspector, and Suzaku is in his squad. They’re still childhood friends. He was surprised to find out Suzaku was an enforcer, wondering what possibly could have happened to him.
There is no geass in this universe.
Lelouch's psycho pass remains clear no matter what he does or thinks. He realized this early on. He’s always wary that maybe one day it’ll be updated and work on him and is extra cautious because of that thought. As an inspector with a dominator, he’s learned he can actually control the modes his dominator is in as well. Regardless of the Sibyl system’s judgement, he can override it. He keeps this a secret as well. To anyone watching his actions, they’d just assume whatever shape his dominator takes is a result of Sibyl’s judgement.
Kallen and CC are also enforcers in Lelouch’s squad, though CC has an unnatural amount of knowledge about the Sibyl system and confronts Lelouch on his secrets that should be impossible for anyone to guess or figure out.
Lelouch doesn’t know he’s royalty. His mother kept that a secret, and she was still killed. As an inspector he seeks to find her killer. His life outside the bureau he has his sister who is still disabled, though not blind. He has his friends (everyone from the student council)
Lelouch is the youngest senior inspector
I want Euphemia to be in Lelouch’s past too, but I can’t figure out a way to do that and still have him be ignorant of his bloodline
4) Canon Divergence AU in R2 when Lelouch was ready to give up and shoot up refrain in Shinjuku, Kallen does NOT reach him in time.
Kallen gets there too late. Lelouch was all drugged out. She tries to snap him out of it w/ some slaps and yelling, but her motivation dwindles with his lack of response.
She started speaking more calmly, touched him gently, pleading with him to give her any recognition, to which he does respond “Kallen” and she starts to tear up thinking she’s reached him, but then he starts rattling off old orders he gave her, telling her he wants her to be leader of the zero squad.
With a heavy heart she drags him back to where she had been staying alone, hidden in a corner of the ghetto. Unable to stop remembering her mom, Kallen takes care of him, and nods or gives a sullen one word response when he says things.
He seems to be starting to come back to his senses, and she decides one night that the next day she’ll start trying to talk to him again, but she wakes up to find him gone.
He’s gone to get another fix, and when she finally finds him again, she has to start all over with the waiting game. She cries herself to sleep, and talks precautions to keep him from being able to leave when he sobers up.
When it finally seems like she might be able to get a conversation out of him the next day, she decides he’s not going anywhere. While he sleeps, she handcuffs his hands behind his back, and cuffs herself to him as well. She makes a point to actually drape herself over him, so there’s no way he could even move without waking her. She doesn’t think she’ll get any sleep, but ends up falling asleep like that with the monotonous calm of his steady breathing.
“Come back” she whispers before falling asleep.
She wakes up to a shivering Lelouch
He’s lucid and she can talk to him but he’s getting irrationally angry and starts yelling about how he just wants “one more.”
“I’m not gonna let you destroy yourself. You don’t get to do that, not as long as people need you.”
5) Canon Divergence AU When Lelouch says the line to Kallen suggesting she console him and there’s things a woman can do, he doesn’t say it seriously.
He treats it as sarcasm and doesn’t approach her. He just sits back down.
Because he didn’t approach her or force himself, because he was truly at the end of his rope and Kallen didn’t know what else to do, and she could tell that he said those words, believing she’d never do such a thing.
Because she had time to think about it and felt desperate herself, she considered that even if he isn’t serious, he wouldn’t have suggested such a thing if it was meaningless. Even if his intention of saying it was to try to scare her off or push her away, there’s a lot of things he could have said or done, but he chose that one.
One thing Kallen has learned from Lelouch as zero is every decision he makes is precise and thought-out, every word he says isn’t said without consideration behind it, that’s how deep his manipulation and predictive nature goes. Even in this crisis where he’s not himself she can still believe that “There’s a reason he specifically said that.”
“Fine” she says after the abnormally prolonged silence.
“What?” Shock in his eyes he slightly turns to look in her direction
“You heard me.”
The one thing Lelouch can’t predict is the human element. People may have patterns, but they can also break those patterns. That’s one thing he can’t anticipate.
Kallen goes over to him and gently takes his hand. He still looks shocked and hasn’t said anything else. He’s so out of character it’s scaring her. She leads him to stand up and follow her, still holding his hand
“But not here.”
All Kallen can think is “if this can bring back Zero, so be it.” She would already kill for him, so she’d do anything.
They’re walking quite a while before Lelouch flexes his hand and starts gripping Kallen’s back.
They get to where she stays when she’s not with the Black Knights and she only lets go of his hand when she’s led him to sit on the bed in her tiny room. She closes the door behind her. Kallen could swear his look of shock was exactly the same as it was initially.
She walks over to him, to which, Lelouch finally manages words out “Kallen, you don’t have to–”
She silences him with a finger to his lips. Standing over him she leans down to give him a kiss and she lets him, then much like his instinct when Shirley kissed him, he pulls her close to him, arms encircling her, deepening the kiss.
It started slow and passionate but they steadily picked up the pace
They don’t speak again about what they’re doing. The only words out of either of their mouths are either encouragement or direction, “lower,” “faster,” “wait,” “yes, that’s good.”
6) Canon Divergence AU where Shirley doesn’t die
I just want it. I have no idea how it would GO

I was explaining to my friend who's only seen c3 that the abyssal rifts from c2 were created by a guy who was ludinus' assistant and she immediately hit me with, "jesus, ludinus da'elth is the fucking ronald regan of exandria" and I'm never going to recover from that

just thinking about matt's description from the campaign wrap-up of what the nein returning the beacon was like for essek as being like, "you've killed someone. you think you've gotten away with and then some randos show up and they found a BOOT in your front yard and they're like, 'hey! look what we found!'"

you're in a dark cell. shivering, terrified, starving, held hostage in a foreign country while your young son was left at home. everything is hellish and awful and this is the worst thing that could possibly happen to you. someone is coming to see you and you're braced for interrogation or torture, you don't even know what
and then this walks in

nott was deeply iconic this whole fight under the well. everyone is losing it and dying and suffering meanwhile she's darting around the battlefield, making shitty puns a beau that cause her to miss all her attacks, spending her time almost exclusively feeding healing potions to caleb (he went down four times!) even healing him when he was just attacking everyone, did not get directly attacked ONCE, and then accidentally murdered caduceus to end things with a literal bang. who is doing it like her

yeza is absolutely unhinged. when he's touching nott's face, he just *look of confusion* "there's a lot going on here" and when nott tells him goblins don't really kiss because it'd just be a lot of teeth clacking he just *absolute deadpan* "like throwing a lot of dishes in a pile, yeah" they're the weirdest couple on the earth and it's kind of iconic of them

The research notes on distilling dunamancy found in Brenattos apothecary are so interesting actually. It’s not outright stated who’s notes they are, but with a retrospective lens it’s quite clear that they’re Ludinus’. There are fragments there about his musings on some of Trent’s protégées showing proficiency with early dunamancy, that he is planning to incorporate it into his own skill sets to aid him in his pursuits, and he records how it seems the Kryn have been quote unquote “learning to bend and break the threads of destiny for hundreds of years. Be this truth, I cannot imagine the Raven Queen looks down upon them favorably either, though the thought brings a laugh to my lips.”
