you know what's a thing i didn't realize was obvious for us as an audience but not for the characters until it happened?

when ayub says "did he just offer to give up the crown for you?"

for us as a fandom it was obvious from day 1 that wille would abdicate, but simon didn't know that (and neither did rosh and ayub obviously)

like I think this is what made the difference in the end! wille offering two years of secrecy and then coming out was still asking too much of simon who never wanted to be a secret, and who told him everything had to be on his terms

but when wille offers to straight up crumble the government of sweden just to be with simon, I think this is when simon realizes that it's not that everything has to be on wille's terms like he once thought, it's that wille just doesn't know what else to offer him bc he's never had any other options before, but he is willing to do what it takes

which is also when he realizes that he can also meet wille halfway (meaning, the two years of being a secret) bc if wille was willing to abdicate then simon can also make the sacrifice, and not just that but he realized that he was also willing to just to keep wille

Imagine if what Wille wants to show Simon at the end of the First Look clip is just his wardrobe. Then we get a full dress-up montage of Simon trying on various outfits to upbeat music and Wille reacting to them until Simon lands on the suit (or blazer?) he's wearing in the still. The scene ends with them walking with a spring in their step towards Kristina, Ludvig and the royal household, who are all smiling, as Simon's makeover has transformed him into the perfect suitor.

So I always tell people that a lot of season 2 of Young Royals didn’t surprise me at all, because @bluedalahorse predicted so much of it before it happened (especially the August and Sara stuff) but tonight I was organizing our shared Google drive and I found proof of her psychic abilities. She made a detailed prediction spreadsheet in DECEMBER 2021 organized by likeliness and I would like to share some of her greatest hits with you now. (Also her ranking of likeliness and how much she would enjoy each prediction coming true is very funny).

We did indeed start at the palace! And although Kristina only tries to pull him after he returns to Hillerska and spends a little time there, the spirit of this is Very Correct

And Wilhelm did indeed sweat it out!

Ok so the reason Sara and Simon are fighting is wrong but the theme is correct, and also not the Felice/Wilhelm fake dating!!! I remember thinking that this was so far fetched but it was in fact! Not!

Love how we never meet any third year Hillerska girls in the show. I know that practically it’s because we only have six episodes per season and can’t have an infinite number of named characters. But I imagine at this point the third year girls are staying far away from the third year boys. Good for them.

(In 1.6, August mentions to Sara that he knows the prefect of Manor House and that they’re close so he can put in a good word for Sara with her. This girl is unnamed and we never see her, and August is probably lying about his ability to influence her. And yet her lack of presence haunts me. Who are you, Third Year Manor House Prefect? Do you have to suffer through meetings for the Parents’ Weekend Planning Committee where August is talking too much, or are you as annoying and rich as he is? Or are you just as annoying? Are you hiding in your room just trying to study or helping the first years with their initiations? ARE YOU OKAY, GIRL, OR ARE YOU PART OF THE PROBLEM?)

As for the second years, I like to think they have a soul-crushing, year-long research paper that keeps them invisible. No one has seen a second year. Second years have not seen the sun in five months and would like it if you could bring them some coffee please.
