I'm going ot have this blog go back to focusing specifically on Native American / FIrst Nations characters being killed or surviving and transfer all the conversations about Anti-Native Racism to this blog: @antinativefaves
She referred to Kahhori as "Tesseract Pocahontas" and said that since she had her episode in What If..? that we don't really need Echo because they're "too similar" and then blocked Native women who called her out for it.
You may know her best as the conservative white woman who didn't know how to describe what "woke" meant despite writing an entire book about how it's allegedly indoctrinating our children. Or you may have known her from her opinion pieces where she encourages us to make friends with Nazis on the off chance that they'll stop being Nazis.
In her book Stolen Youth, she remembers Native Americans / Indigenous peoples just long enough to be racist:
I won't link to her book but instead will link to my Twitter where I reviewed the Free Sample that was provided via Amazon. That's all you'll really need to read anyways:
This blog doesn't exist strictly to call people out. It's to show how prevalent and pervasive anti-Native and anti-Indigenous racism is in mainstream media, by celebrities, by politicians, by Youtube personalities, etc.
I include apologies if they were made. That doesn't mean I will always forgive the people who made them. That doesn't mean Natives should be encouraged to do so either. Especially when you see in just a quick scroll of this page how many examples are out there.
Anti-Native Racism has degrees to it like any kind of racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. Some are microaggressions. Some are hate crimes. But they are all connected and they all cause harm to actual living people.
This is also why I specifically call out public figures instead of just random people on Twitter, social media, etc. Because published authors, actors, directors, models, world leaders, politicians, senators, among others are the source of how that racism becomes normalized.
If there are no consequences for them, if they can say and do any hateful, racist thing to Native people, the general public that already lives on stolen land and benefitted from genocide and ethnic cleansing treats it as fair game and thinks nothing of it.
And before anybody makes any accusations about this page being run in bad faith: if you said it and if you did it, it shouldn't matter what I personally think of you. I didn't force you to be racist. You did that. What you do afterwards is on you.
