I was wondering if you have ever posted what brushes do you use ? I am always on the lookout for nice brushes! Also if you've got any tips for inking, I'd appreciate it enormously. No worries if not! 💕

hi, thanks so much!

i mostly just use whatever defaults came with clip studio paint. for inking, my go-to is the the default marker pen brush (under the marker tab in pens), but sometimes i'll swap to the calligraphy one (should be in the pen tab), or this brush but with the pen pressure turned off. just depends on how i'm feeling about whatever i'm inking. when i want to add some texturing when toning, i use stuff like the spray or diagonal line brushes (again, should be included in CSP), i just make an eraser version of them so i can also use them on layer masks.

as for inking tips ... i don't have any hard and fast "always do x for y" advice but i rambled a little about how i approach it.

this first point is actually pretty straightforward, it's just to look at inking techniques by artists you like, think about what makes them work so well in their context, and try them out for yourself. this isn't about plagiarizing art styles but more about understanding how other artists choose to stylize certain things in their work, and seeing what works and what doesn't for you personally. sometimes it's through looking at other people's stylizations that you get a better understanding of how you want to approach translating this actual 3d object (people, clothes, background details, whatever) into your own art as well. as you try out various techniques, maybe you find that some of them work well with your own style, and some of them don't and you stop incorporating those. it's all a constant work in progress. over time you can adjust how you use them in a way that fits your own drawing methods and workflows and they just start to come more naturally to you. of course, they may and should change a lot along the way because now it's something that's part of your own style. in essense, work on developing a good eye for these things and be thoughtful about what you want to convey and how.

just as an example, daiya no ace by terajima yuji definitely has to be up there for me in terms of influences, the way he approached body lines and clothing folds as a way to convey movement and posing made a lightbulb turn on in my head back when i was still reading it.

not a comprehensive list, but other manga i just like looking at off the top of my head - rookies (morita masanori), anything by yamashita tomoko but i really recommend the night beyond the tricornered window for something that's easily accessible, anything by asada nemui (please check for content warnings for their works first though!), all-rounder meguru (endo hiroki), urasawa naoki's works, dungeon meshi (kui ryoko), witch hat atelier (shirahama kamome), yotsuba&! (azuma kiyohiko), a bride's story (mori kaoru), i recollect love (moegi yukue), the later works of tojitsuki hajime (unfortunately a lot of is now out of print and not accessible online but i managed to get all their books bc their commitment to crosshatching shaved heads each time impressed me so much LMAOSJDsd) etc, etc.

this second thing is much vaguer and harder to quantify but ... honestly just draw a lot and see what feels good to your hand. inking and art styles in general are fluid things. so much of what inking comes down to, to me, is just drawing the lines that in a way that feels good to me. that only really comes from doing it a lot (not saying i'm a hardcore artist or anything lol just that i've been drawing on and off for a while now) and, well, getting a sense of what you like doing. sometimes you might look at a detail you finished that looks really good but feels like a happy accident, and it kinda is, but it's also just as much of the things you've internalized over time. combining the first point (developing your eye and a sense of thoughtfulness about inking) and the second (getting experience through developing your muscle memory) is basically it.

||What I see in you||

Hi dears, this is a requested drabble for @ask-the-monster-nest. For this drabble, this is the first few week of him being freed and under Masaru’s leadership when he and Yuji were kidnapped by the Coven. So far, he’s been following them with no problem and things have been doing well for the two but at times after and during missions, Though Sukuna was wondering about some things of what his master feels and how he sees him. Now, he was going to ask to find out. If you wish to know, read and see.

||Their will be mistakes in this Drabble but I hope you still like it. With that said, please enjoy.

For the last few months, Sukuna was looking out the window of his new master/boss Masaru s room. Seeing how things of the world either annoys the evil spirit or makes him think of things. Why does he feel this way? He shouldn’t be leaning over any emotion he feels but feeling happy for doing what he does. However,  Masaru has touched a spot in his heart that effected him greatly. He was a evil spirit that was dangerous but Masaru was....well, he was different among many others that tried to prove their stronger. Even after this mission where he got seriously hurt even for a spirit.

He remembers seeing Masaru about to get attacked but he takes the hits instead since he could. Though, the enemy was smart, using something to weaken him at the time before backup arrived killing the bastards. Now, he was back home sitting in a healing ward after being treated but he was looking out resting one hand against his mouth annoyed.

“.........”

He didn’t know why it felt this way but he was unsure about it for the first few days to now. Was their something wrong? Was he flawed in what he felt? Was he even making  Masaru happy? Wait, why did that matter. He was still following orders but now he became distracted that Masaru was curious to what was wrong with his puppy.

“Hey Sukuna, what is the matter? You seem..off from today’s mission. Is something troubling you?” He knew Sukuna would have attacked and killed with no problem but today was off for him. He didn’t know why but was it due to how someone like  Masaru was caring about him? Or was he planning on just sealing him away as others have done.

“I don’t know master...I just feel....damn weird. Like I don’t mind following your every order but I don’t get it. I shouldn’t be this concerned about anything but serving you and being sure all your orders are done.” he hated feeling this off that leaves the cursed puppy growling.

“Hmmm, now why would you feel off about that? I know you would have taken care of that filth but you seem to hold back which is unknown for you. You do follow my orders and that is a good boy to me.”

“That’s just the thing; I’ll always follow your orders. Nothing will stop me from not following that. However, it leaves me wondering why.”

“Hmmm?”

“You released me ever since we made our deal and I feel like I don’t do enough. I rather see that I’ve done a good job as a good dog but..now it’s like something is making feel as if I need to do more. Like I have to be better as your lap dog.” he hated feeling unsure but he didn’t say anything while Masaru lowers the files of their kills from today’s missions.

“.....So why would it concern you? You were released so that why you can do what you wish but also follow my words true. You gave your word to be by my side....are you taking your choice back?” that made Sukuna grip his arm that the black nails almost dig into his skin.

“No! I’m not going back on my word or anything. I’m the king of curses and I don’t take back my word on anything.  It’s just...I don’t know if your going to go back on your word and throw me out after I did my deal or if I failed. You seem like the one to do that.” he hissed.

“And your assuming I would toss you out? That’s a bit insulting. You caught my interest little puppy so what makes you think I would toss you out? Was it due to the mission today or the last few? You shouldn’t let that bother you so much. Besides, the mission was done so you should-”

“That’s not what I mean! I just....I don’t get why do i need you so damn much?”

“Hmmmm?”

“I mean after I do my missions, I feel more relaxed to get your praise and happiness because I did good. I want to be able to do my missions and be sure they are done without hesitation. It’s like the missions I do shows that even I can be a good dog but I rather enjoy hearing the words from you. From completing missions and not failing. Being around you makes me happy like...Ughhh I don’t know..” He runs his hands through his hair glaring at the window but he was looking down at the sidewalk seeing random weaker people walking by.

“.............”     

“I know none of this makes sense but you - you’re the only thing that makes this world less crazy. I rather drive the whole world mad just to see you happy and It’s like I just wanna stay by your side. I don’t want to leave even after you help get my fingers back. I still want to be here at least..I know Yuji is being with that other artist male here. So I figure why not???”

 Masaru looks to his puppy hearing this but he was now focused on him that a grin shows on his face. He was not expecting to hear this from his puppy. It was new that he’s willing to do all this just to be with him at his side.  

“And you don’t care who you kill for me? Who you go against as long as you follow my orders? Even going after anyone that threatens to lay  a finger on me?” He heard Masaru now behind him with his arms over his chest, his eyes looking at the back of his puppy’s head. He could tell he was thinking only to smirk.

“I don’t care....” he answered to  Masaru now moving to look at him. “Then turn around and look at me..” Being ordered, Sukuna turns to look at him seeing his master standing there. “You really are a silly puppy....you seem to only see me happy and nothing else right?”

 “Yes. I don’t care anymore. all i care about is you..” He mutters that Masaru sees him sit down that he walks over to hug him. His fingers running through his hair with a smirk.

“Such a good obedient puppy. You really are amazing..” he chuckled enjoying this moment so it was cute. At least he knew his puppy was going to be a good boy for him no matter what.

Shoko starts with a line to Utahime with a relaxed tension, but somehow my heart starts pounding from there.

–Please tell us about your enthusiasm for the broadcast and a message to the viewers. Endo: It's a story those familiar with the original work know already, so I think the scenes will come back to them. But, after all, it'll move, have voices, and such, so please enjoy the anime's speed. I'm also looking forward to seeing the completed version. Even from what I saw on the monitor during dubbing was beyond amazing. The drawings were amazing and thinking there were people who would make them move made me excited. That's why I'd also like everyone who watches be just as excited. Their youthfulness 12 years ago-- I think you'll feel their lack of experience and find out about the characters more deeply too.
