Has anyone drawn the obvious Fate/Vampire Dies in No Time crossover or do I need to do it myself?
Semiramis as a more confident Nagiri is kinda perfect.

@pyatsfortress let me know that Joe Flaherty passed away recently. On April Fools Day, even, which seems fitting.
SCTV had a tremendous impact on my sense of humour when I was younger. Itās one of the pieces of media that informed my enjoyment of meta media, or media basically about media. The multi-layered storylines shifting between the āactorsā at the station, the roles they played on productions, and plots that viewers could piece together between the two. While this is a fairly common type of story now, thereās a certain pathetic nature to the characters in SCTV that gave it a unique charm. Theyāre all nobodies working at a crappy smaller market station, but theyāre on TV so maybe that means something. Imagine a proud influencer with a following of a 100 people and youāre pretty close.
I wouldnāt recommend watching it now, as the comedy is outdated both in topic and taste. Some of the more ridiculous and simpler segments still hold up, like the following:

Some OC surveys I did last night, might do another pair later today.
The first one is for my Ryuutama OC Iāve been playing since 2023. The second is for his original form, which I think was created by @mer0vech and I waaaay back in 2017. Wait, maybe heās actually from 2016?! Rob, did we realize how old these characters are?!

An interesting detail is this licensing trick wasnāt uncommon with TTRPGs historically. Infamously, it happened with Serenity and Firefly, where the movie license was cheaper than the tv show license. I think there were some similar odd situations with anime licenses (what is a book vs what is a toy?, etc)
The lack of official Star Wars TTRPG PDFs is an example of it backfiring. I think this era has passed us by with the current wave of licensed games.
Prime Directive was a weird animal, because despite appearances, it wasnāt a tabletop RPG based around Star Trek, but around the long running Star Fleet Battles board game from the 1970s. Because it was made before the movies and next generation, the board game spun off and developed this totally mind-boggling counter-continuity. Itās like the original series in an alternate universe. Because Star Fleet Battles didnāt use the Star Trek trademark, it had a way cheaper licensing fee, so it was a way for smaller publishers to get a āStar Trek RPGā on the cheap.
The āhookā of Prime Directive is that the PCs are members of āPrime Teams,ā squads of Starfleet officers and other oddballs who go on impossible missions that require scientific, technical, and commando expertise. Kind of reminds me of Mass Effect, actually.
Whatās interesting is how the alternate ācounter-continuityā of Prime Directive developed on lines similar to the later spin off shows, long before they came out. For example, the Federation faces a mostly unstoppable invasion of superadvanced machine creatures (this time, related to the Andromeda aliens), and also encounter an āevil Federationā on the far side of the galaxy (basically, the Dominion before the Dominion existed).

Forgot to share these earlier, but I made some homemade stickers for a recent convention weekend as giveaways. Robin and Sanson ended up on a water bottle. John was drawn for the convention.
Sadly, I donāt really have a good means of getting these to non-local people.

A writer friend posted this weekend about how she was disappointed by fictional anarchists not being presented doing actual anarchist things, like distributing zines, making art, and fighting over ideals internally.
This was a breakthrough thought for me. Iāve been struggling with an outline for a Vampire Dies in No Time Uso AU fic since January. I had the plot elements mostly hammered outā Iām a simple woman, I want to see the Hell Trio deal with a certain spoiler antagonist and see Shinji try to do something action-oriented despite being deeply unsuited for it.
The thematic elements have been eluding me. While they arenāt exactly the most fashionable elements to discuss in fic circles, theyāre important for me to enjoy writing a story. I think Iām onto something now.

Back on our anniversary my partner loaded up a chill jazz video on YouTube for background music. It had a cute image of a book cafe with mini lights and cozy nooks for reading. When I commented I wanted to live in the photo, my partner teased me about how he knew his audience.
One of the cafe decorations was a string of mini light clips. I found a similar set online, my partner bought them, and then I did nothing with it for a few weeks.
My partner is always on my case about how I donāt show off my art enough. I stumbled onto a video about how to make photo cards and then followed it to make a set to hang off that light string.
Currently itās a mix of OC art and fan art. I might get proper photo paper for future cards

Me: *daydreams some fic ideas*
Me: *something feeling familiar*
Me: *looks up obscure TV show from the 80s*
Friends, if your fanfic idea might subconsciously pulling from an obscure Canadian TV show from the 80s, do you need a cheesy theme song?
I went to look for examples of tacky Canadian openings, went fishing for the name of a series I couldnāt remember, and accidentally stumbled into someone on YouTube reconstructing the theme to E.N.G.
Am I the first person to post about E.N.G. on Tumblr?

Starting a renovation of sorts for my nerd space/studio*. I guess itās more of a reorganization. I let it get messy and out of control over the last six months and need to put the time into making it nice again. Thereās some new furniture I want and $$$ means thatās going to get replaced over time. Nerd room blogging, goooo.
* Iāve been told studio sounds pretentious, but I donāt like āofficeā because of the work connotations.
