It takes a village (idiot)
Tumblr media
I just wrapped up a MeetUp.
Ever been to one or heard of them?
No, it's not a dating thing so all y'all single folks hold up a sec...it's an online network of local groups of people who share a similar interest.
This one was for business minded folks and it was wide open to the public.
And I had NO idea what I was in for but I was (secretly) happy we were meeting in a public place.
A restaraunt.
OK so I say secretly happy because you never know what kind of people are gonna show up.
Don't judge because on some levels you know I'm kinda right?
Right?
Maybe some sort of freakshow pops in...
Or perhaps that lady who pitches everybody even though the rules are no pitching...
Or that one dude who "forgets" his wallet after ordering appetizers and top shelf martinins...
Or better yet is the "oh yeah" guy...the one who always has a BETTER story than yours (you know, if you went snorkeling HE swam with Great Whites---yeah---THAT guy)...
You know.
Freakshows.
But that's not what happened.
The village showed up.
The people who really want to grow a business and I was able to make some really cool and NEW friends.
In fact, the only goofball there was the village idiot.
Me...
For thinking that the freakshows might show.
So the short and sweet moral of today's story? Well there are actually a few and even though today's meetup was 110% about entrepreneurs there are things I really think we can all learn. Here they are...in no particualr order:
1. prepare for the worst, expect the best (the best usually happens)
2. we are ALL hungry for something...even if it is just lunch
3. love your fellow entrepreneur (refer to #1 and #2 above)
and finally...
4. Take the first freaking step! Be the village idiot and don't look back.
I just wanna share with you guys...a simple village idiot to all y'all who are reading this far...
Go.
Don't be scared.
If you end up the village idiot then we'll start a "Village Idiot Meetup" group and conquer the world together.
Cheers to being bold.

I'm in my happy place...and still irritated as heck
Tumblr media
*** A little rant ahead so be prepared***
Allright I'm irritated. I realize a lotta folks look to me as Mr. Positive but the truth is I have dips too and right about now I'm dipping.
It's really nobody's fault exept my own so I s'pose recognizing that is a good thing...right?
Nevertheless I'm one irritated son of a biscuit and it's happening at one of my most favorite places on earth.
Starbucks.
OMG how can this be????
Holy guacamole is there a full moon????
Did the earth shift it's axis????
These are all the things running through my mind as I sit here at Starbucks and type this email out to youz guyz and in the background...
...is the sound of a Shop Vac being turned on for the 17th time...again...and again. You're thinking I should just pack up my sh*t and go...I can hear you now...and yet...I feel compelled to stay.
I feel compelled to stay because I going to use my Jedi mind tricks on myself in an effort to show you just how wicked simple it is to make an irritation an inspiration.
Ready.
*************************************
Done.
Yep.
Simple.
I chose.
I chose to smile through the annoying Shop Vac...to revel in my next breath...to look across at my wife and feel grateful for all that I have.
I chose.
It's not always easy...but it's worth it. Here's a little diddy on that.
Your turn...
(were you really expecting a jedi mind trick?)
Go ahead...
Your turn...

It rhymes with Knight Rider
Tumblr media
Hi there I hope your day is as kick ass as mine.
Frankly speaking if you're reading this then it is...because you're alive and (should be) kicking.
We meet here pretty much daily...at the 'inbox' I mean and it serves several purposes.
Purpose 1: I love sharing using words. Words are power. Words can move us and words can crush us. These emails are designed to move you.
Purpose 2: the mission of these get togethers is to provide value. Value, value and more value. I certainly hope that's happeining. And finally...
Purpose 3: it keeps me accountable to write each and every day which is the CORE to success and that core is called habits. Get some good ones and stick to them.
Which brings me to the subject line and that is I'm realizing more and more that I'm a night writer.
Yeah you see I think what I'm realizing and I want to share is that as much as I would love to awaken with fresh ideas and things to share and business to do...what I am finding is that I get better as the day rolls on.
Which means that the creativity that comes with writing gets hotter as the day gets longer.
So I'm NOT gonna fight it.
I'm gonna harness it.
And therein lies my point.
Don't fight it.
Harness it.
Whatever your "IT" is...use it. Dance with it. Get fueled by it.
Then go out and CrushIt.
If you need a reminder or a mini framework on how to create habits...head over HERE.
Now if you'll excuse me Mr. Night Writer here has a meeting to prepare for...yeah...a meeting because success and rest don't sleep together.
Cheers to the dream...

My party has 4,000 people attending and here's why
Tumblr media
The party I'm referring to is a very social one.
It's also one you can (and should) be throwing.
It's the party we hold on Facebook and if you're in buisness you should be throwing one daily.
See a lot of folks have a fan page or a buisness page and use it wrong...they post stuff that's more like a megaphone for "buy my stuff"..."try my thing"...etc...kinda like those loud attorneys on TV who say they're TOUGH and CALL ME at 555-5555!!!
You feel me ?
So today my Facebook buisness page cracked 4k 'Likes' and HERE is why it's important.
Because these are real poeple who have essentially raised their hand and said 'yes' I want to hear more from you Rick.
Kinda like a party but instead of appraoching party goers with a hard sell 'buy my stuff' it's more of a...
'Hey I'm Rick. I help folks like me and you achieve the life of your dreams and if you wanna know more I'd love for you to visit my page'....
and that translates into a 'Like'.
That's an interested person.
That's an prospect.
That's a person who I can chat with and they might get to know, like and trust me and eventually...
They'll want to purchase my product or service.
See the difference?
So today we burst through 4,000 'Likes' and each of them came to the party all on their own...
Boom.
We all win.
If you wanna know more go HERE. It's free. It's the real deal.
Cheers to throwing an awesome fiesta!

How NOT to act like you have a stick up your butt
Tumblr media
That subject line is an attention grabber right?
I mean seriously  you gotta admit, even if you are NOT an entrepreneur (yet) or a writer truth is nobody wants to write, act or just present like you have a stick up your butt.
And step one to doing that?
Well it's in sending emails like this because some of youz guyz aren't gonna like my "real-ness" and then some of youz are. (I'm saying it like that because my friend from Jersey just flew out this am)
And you'll want more because I'm the kinda nurse with hustle (aka: badass entrepreneur) that most folks want on their team.
Heck, I never was chosen first when I played basketball or football but now...well...I am.
So here's step 2 to not having a stick up your butt and that's to be bold and put your 'stuff' into the world so here is a link to my new website and truth is it's only about 90% done...but I'm launching it now.
Because I don't have a stick up my butt and because if I don't BE the example then I'm just your average, ordinary stick in the butt kinda guy.
OK but seriously now yesterday when I shared I was launching a new gig and that I was gonna share and then invite a select few to join my team...let's call it Team Making Millionaires I was 110% serious.
And as of now I sent a few invites and yep...the team is in full swing.
But for now...just check out my not quite done website and if you wanna hear more about the team reply to me or text me at the number below.
It's really my number.
Fortune favors the bold.
Be bold...
or forever have a stick in the butt.
Have a killah Friday!

When personal development and biz collide
Tumblr media
Today is more a share about an article that was published yesterday on a personal development site called Self Growth.
Funny thing I've learned from being published in a variety of mags and journals is that they never tell me WHEN an article is going live.
So lemme share bascially how it all works...
We get into regular contact with pubs like Fast Company, Entrepreneur, Elephant Journal and a slew of others. We focus on buisness and personal development pubs.
They let us know some topics they want me to write about...I write about it...we edit it (well our team does) then submit to the big guys.....we.wait....then we'll get a message saying they've accepted it for publication....and crickets...
(make the cricket chirping sound here)...
Until voila...I recieve an email saying your article is live effective YESTERDAY.
I know...it's an imperfect process but that's the way it rolls out.
So I wanted to share the article we published yesterday...HERE...I talk about pricing products and more so the lessons learned and I really think you'll find value in it even if you are NOT in a buisness...mainly because it's highly likely you are a consumer of something...right?
Thought so.
But hey if you have ever thought of being in buisness remember I shared this free video training HERE that was previously a part of my $497 Biz Academy course.
Free....Gratis...you pay nada.
If you are in business and you THINK you sell to everyone then you MUST watch this training.
If you work in a buisness and your boss says WE sell to everyone...yup...MUST watch.
I grow by helping you grow.
Period. Not just in the video but in the articles and blogs.
Anywho...y'all have a great humpday and cheers to living greatly.

This 4 letter word caught my attention
Tumblr media
The word is free.
In the entrepreneurial (aka: for profit) world one rarely hears that and if we do we almost always get our guard up because there's gonna be some nutty pitch.
You know what I mean.
The mailer that offers you 3 days at a resort...for FREE...then the fine print says you must agree to a "30 minute consultation"...
Or the ad that offers a FREE exam...then the fine print says after purchase of our $$$ flux capacitator...
You get my drift.
But that's changed.
See I'm not a bullshitter.
And on that note HERE is a link to a free video training that was previously a part of my $497 Biz Academy course.
Free....Gratis...you pay nada.
If you are in business and you THINK you sell to everyone then you MUST watch this training.
If you work in a buisness and your boss says WE sell to everyone...yup...MUST watch.
I grow by helping you grow.
Period.
March is here and it's my desire to help you charge into a new month with some wicked awesome training.
One more time...head over HERE...

Sacrificial goats...and stuff
Tumblr media
This is a little diddy about Leapyear...(not so much goats truth be told)...
Leapyear.
What a weird holiday.
Is it even a holiday?
I mean...what exactly is leapyear and how is it that we get a whole 'FREE' day.
And that begs the question...is it REALLY free?
It's kinda like the old days...like the REALLY old days that when something wierd happened in the village the villagers would get all spooked out and like sacrifice a goat or something like that.
Or maybe I'm weird because I'm even conjuring up this nutty story about FREE time and sacrificial goats.
But I digress you see because in life there sometimes can be such things as a FREE Lunch and I'm about to offer it up...no goats necessary.
Just your desire to WANT to be better at your buisness.
And on that note HERE is a link to a free video training that was previously a part of my $497 Biz Academy course.
Free....Gratis...you pay nada.
If you're wondering 'WHY?' then skip down top the bottom of this email and read my WHY...it's true. I'm here to serve and putting my money where my mouth is and in fact...I'm hoping that the people who paid the $497 don't get too torqued at me for this FREE course.
All I ask is this...that when you get to the part where I say 'share this with your homies'...please share it.
I grow by helping you grow.
Period.
No goats, no weird dances and 100% me serving you.
Get it.
NOW. HERE...

Dirty martinis, hotel lobby's and a mega church pastor
Tumblr media
So some folks might get a bit torqued or get their shorts in a wad over the title but you gotta hear me out.
Please note that before you read any further I will mention a pastor...church and a wee bit about faith so tune in...
or to be fair...
tune out.
(Still Here?) Good...
See I had every reason to NOT go to church.
I had some dirty martinins last night...
Super spicy pizza...
Another wicked dirty martini..
Then headed over to the lobby of the beautiful Hotel Emma and yes...
More dirty ones or at least some sort of cloudy liquid with olives in a glass...
Anywho....
I had every reason to NOT go to church and to instead sleep in, grab a yoga class and you know...scoot into the day and get some W-O-R-K done.
But I kept hearing my friend Joseph (my homie from PAX) tell me that I kinda needed to get my butt back in church.
And I kept saying I wasn't ready yet.
Then his voice...
Then mine...
And I wokde up and just like that...I knew I needed to be there if only because my homie was holding me accountable.
And I heard the new pastor speak.
Powerfully.
And I'll share with y'all that he moved me to tears.
But the real point of this email is that in life, in business and yes...in faith...having someone to hold your feet to the fire (aka: accountability) is what makes ALL the difference in the world and here's why.
Because we are more apt to let ourselves down then we are to let someone else down.
And even if THAT is the only motivation for action lemme just share this...that we ALL win.
Sooooooo....
Who holds you acocuntable?
Who gets you to step into something new?
Who keeps you motivated and doing the things you might not wanna do but KNOW you should?
Well...if you say that you have no-body then lemme introduce to you your NEW accountability buddy.
Just click this HERE and synch up.
It's up to you....and how BAD you really want it.
If you want it the link is HERE...intro yourself and let's roll into something great.
Because it's your time.
Rest up my friends...tomorrow begins a new day!

How to Craft a Workflow to Make You More Successful
Tumblr media
This article is published in Upstart Business Journal by Rick Martinez---
Highly successful people have more than seven habits.
Running my company keeps my day filled with tasks, from organizing to executing my crazy work and personal schedules. On top of that, I have meetings, seminars, and speaking engagements to juggle.
Aside from the support of my wife, virtual assistant, and the students at my seminars, what gets me through each day is finding new and exciting ways to accomplish everything within four integral parts of my day.
I began this practice during my company's infancy in the early 2000s. My schedule was all over the place, and I was in search of ways to map out my days that could apply no matter the hours.
In later years, I opened up some CrossFit gyms and became a certified nutritionist and advocate of the Zone diet and food blocks. In the case of the latter, I taught clients to get in the habit of eating certain foods during certain times of day.
I applied the same logic to my workflow, and it stuck even as I tried out other methods. If a task doesn’t fit into one of these blocks, then it’s not worth focusing on.
1. Take “Me Time” in the Morning
Being jarred awake by an alarm clock in the morning feels like waking up in a war zone. You hit snooze a few times to torture yourself, and then you hit the ground running until you land back in bed, tired and fatigued. Taking control of your day starts with taking control of your morning.
Ditching an alarm clock is the best decision you’ll ever make; although the compromise is you’ll have to get to sleep earlier to avoid exhausting yourself.
Wake up when your body decides to, and give yourself permission to take care of your mind, body, and spirit for at least an hour. Then, make breakfast and clear your email inbox so you can start the day fresh.
2. Complete One Major Project
Get one major task done each day, but finish no more than three. These high-energy, brainpower-intensive projects require you to fire on all cylinders.
After lunch, your energy will fade, and it’ll be harder and harder to give the 110 percent necessary on major projects. Reserve afternoons for menial tasks. But pump yourself up before you hit the next block of time with a workout to keep your mind and body in shape.
3. Meditate Through Menial Tasks
From easy meetings and phone calls to follow-up chores and household errands on the way home, these ankle-biter tasks don’t take massive amounts of thought or energy. Be careful not to allow the small rocks to fill your entire jar, or you’ll have no room for sand and a cup of coffee.
Menial tasks need to be done to keep the world moving, so meditate through them to keep yourself balanced. Instead of becoming worn down, you’ll gain increased energy from performing these chores because meditation raises energy levels and general awareness. By focusing on the moment at hand and appreciating it, you’ll dread these tasks less and be happier overall.
4. Reward Yourself
Entrepreneurs are used to being humble, so we often don’t pat ourselves on the backs enough. At the end of the day, I stop everything to cook dinner, uncork a bottle of wine, and spend time with my wife.
We have date nights and treat ourselves to whatever reading and other activities we enjoy to wind down the evening before going to bed. Even though I’ll often spend that time reading business books or specific articles, that’s my time for personal growth and learning, so I don’t mind.
Of course, there are a few times I’ll wake up in the middle of the night (or stay up late) working, but it’s not like the Red Bull-fueled, 36-hour marathon days of my youth.
So if you’re feeling fatigued or have too many obstacles in your path, your productivity mindset could be causing burnout. There’s always a new and different way to get back on track. From day planners to Pomodoro to David Allen’s “Getting Things Done,” it all boils down to scheduling four blocks of time during each day to balance your tasks and your life.

She broke up with me and here's how I feel
Tumblr media
We met over the internet.
So it's not like it was a loud dancefloor...or Tinder or a friend who thought she'd like what I was about.
It was a simple message I wrote that sealed the deal and everything seemed to be great.
We'd start the day toegther...everyday...she'd push some buttons...she'd smile...
Then off to work we'd both go and in hindsight maybe it was because I work from home and pretty much made some coffee then went (pajama clad) into my office to blast off the day.
Or maybe it was because I would send a message out (just like this one) to lots of other folks and she felt less special.
I'll never know because just like that...
She's gone.
At least she left a note though and on some levels I should(?) feel better?
I'm not sure...
I'm confused...
I'm hurt...
And yes...I'm a little angry because I only write my best stuff in these emails where I share what I've learned and taught after building a pretty large company, Angel invested in others, mentored business leaders and then there's the whole personal development thing I talk about. Heck I spent time with Jack Canfield at his house, learned from Tony Robbins and dove deep into Landmark training so I guess what I'm saying is...
I'm a catch! (and some folks say I'm ruggedly handsome...heh-heh)...
And  the fact is I just wanted to share that with you today because in life...
AND in business people leave and sometimes they never leave a note so while it's hard to lose someone...a Tribe member...someone you've served for so long...
Sometimes it's best to just 'Let It Go'...
Oh...I totally forgot...
Here's the note she left on my e-pillow...
Tumblr media
Boom.
Gone.
It's not you it's me kinda thing...
And I suppose the 'Thanks' at the beginning helps...
OK wait a sec...did you THINK I was having an affair? Or that my wife split? OMG I'm soooooo sorry for the confusion!
OK so let's talk reality folks.
I love our chats and you gotta know by now that I send a daily email.
I love to share about business, entrepreneurship, personal development and the razor edge of all three.
That's it...that's what I do..and every so often I'm gonna share my latest product, course, e-book or 'thung' that I've created in hopes that oyu might want it.
I'm an entrepreneur. But I'm an entrepreneur who not only cares deeply about you I also wanna see oyu grow in ways you never imagined possible.
Trust me...I know.
From food stamps to $12 hour nurse to business owner...it's real.
So there...I'm over her leaving me and now my focus is on you...
Because you stayed.
Thank you.
Now go out there and have a rocking weekend!

This made my voice crack
Tumblr media
Hey there my friends...
It's Rick and you know what made my voice crack?
Growth.
Stay with me now because this applies to pretty much everyone over the age of 13 (give or take)...
I mean like as in literal growth because when we were turning like 13'ish our voices started to crack and sound funny and truth is it was scary and yet we knew it was inevitable...
...because it meant we were headed to adulthood (dun-dun-duuuuuuunnnn!)
It was something that was going to happen whether we liked it or not.
Then one day we kinda-sorta slid into adult-hood.
And growth suddenly became OPTIONAL for many of us.
School was done so we stopped reading...
Field trips were over so we stopped travelling...
We had obligtions to tend to so we put our dreams on hiatus...
Until the day (we hoped) would supposedly come when we could re-visit that thing called growth and dreams.
And on this 'TBT' throw back Thursday I wanted to revisit THIS HERE.
You see  the thing is we do grow up and we do have stuff and we do have obligations BUT that doesn't mean we MUST stop growing it just means we need to find a new way to continue to grow.
And it starts with one small action.
The decision...the choice...that you owe it to yourself.
So today go read a poem...spend your lunch at a museum...leave the TV off tonite and sit on the porch and watch the sunset...high five a stranger...
do something...
new...
and different...
because it's never too late to let your voice crack.
Cheers to you and hey...you are indeed freakin' awesome (virtual hi-five!)

Why spending time with idiots will shorten your lifespan
Tumblr media
Did you wake up today and say "HELL yeah...another day!" and fist pump...or
Did you wake up today and say 'ah hell...another day" and bury your face in a pillow?...
I think by now y'all know how I woke up and if you didn't know this then I'll share...part of my A.M. routine is to check social media.
It gives me a pulse for who's doing what (plus my Tribe secret is I teach biz owners how to leverage it as a tool!)...
So there I was and I noted a plethora of people just kinda bummed today and I decided to make a choice and NOT tune them out.
Instead I 'Liked' some comments then, with a big smile, made a valiant effort to make a bright and cheery comment.
But there's something else I wanna share and that's these two things.
Thing 1: dwelling on the negativity of idiots will suck the freakin' life outta you. It just will. So say something nice and smile...or just move on...
Thing 2: Facebook released a new tool today. You may have seen it. Their called reactions and if you hover over the 'Like' button you'll see a new way to interact with posts. They will supposedly add some post value...but we'll see.
And that's my message.
To recap...
Be nice to idiots or juts move on...don't let 'post negativity' ruin your moment...
and
Next is the cool new Facebook tool released today. Check it out.
In the meantime y'all go have an awesome humpday, show some Like...show some Love and smile the day away!

Writers block and other myths debunked
Tumblr media
This is a question we all have even if you aren't a writer. How to deal with that dreaded 'writers block'.
In fact we have have some semblence of it in our lives, jobs or buinesses.
It's that place where we kinda get stuck...then aren't sure what to do next.
And this morning I was in that place.
My routine started as usual and I sat down to peck out today's message to you...only nothing emerged.
Nothing glowed brightly...
The morning news didn't even have any fodder I wanted to piggyback on...
So I just went on the the next thing.
Yeah...just like that. I got right on to the next thing on my 'to-do' list and that was a meeting with a very special person named Becca. She's a local manager for a Lululemon store and has been a friend for some time.
We have a lot in common...we like business...we like yoga...we both really dig hanging around the same type of peeps and we both approach all of this with a mindful and open spirit.
And there it was.
My inspiration for today because we chatted up how HOT entrepreneuership is and how cool it is to be in business.
And it was a great convo and to tell you the truth what made it even greater is that my wife was there too. The 3 of us had a wonderful, insightful and meaningful chat about 'what's next'.
So today as you move well into the day I'd like you to consider...what's next...for you.
Is it a new career...a promotion...a vacation...whatever it is how bout you give it a little room to breath and ponder it.
And if the 'what's next' is a venture into entrepreneurship then here's something for ya...I'll be re-opening our Biz Academy Online real soon.
It's 'what's next' for me and I was inspired by two strong women to share.
Thanks Lisa...thanks Becca.
Y'all have an awesome Tuesday...

You should do these everyday...even Sunday's
Tumblr media
Yep it's Sunday and some of y'all might be thinking 'here's that Rick cat again...in my Inbox.'
And you'd be right but today I want to share the reason WHY I'm here again and then ask you a question.
It's a question about rituals.
And honestly speaking...do you have them?...
And if you do is it something you do relentlessly every day?...
Or do they get a day off?
You see because today is Sunday and I have a set of morning rituals and one of them is writing...then sharing regardless of the day. This ritual is only part of my routine but it sets the tone for me.
OK so maybe you DON'T have a set of rituals or a routine and that's OK...I'm here to help.
There's a great article HERE that breaks it down for you. Number 3 is a HUGE deal for me and I'm sure one of the steps will glow brighter for you as well.
Anywho, I just wanted to pop in on this glorious morning and share this little diddy on rituals.
They work.
They will indeed set you free.
Cheers to a beautiful, (structured, ritualistic and slightly OCD) day.
