Let’s take a moment to thank all those who, in 1985, donated to the BC Parkway tree campaign to plant 2,400 trees along the SkyTrain line (then known as the ALRT). These dedications appeared in the Province newspaper July 28 through August 20, 1985.

As a followup to our last post, that Netflix series replica subway car I mentioned? It sold for a bargain at $3,600 and is going to a good local home! @HorrorVancouver acquired it! John Mackie had this to say about the sale: https://vancouversun.com/news/local-news/netflix-series-replica-subway-car-a-bargain-at-3600

Survey! Translink is requesting your participation in a new survey…regarding future seating!
You can vote at Lonsdale Quay over the next month. The Buzzer writes:
Tumblr media
Based on which one you like better, the winning seat will be installed on our incoming 15 battery-electric buses and possibly other buses we order in the future.
Both of the new bus seats are lighter, and believe it or not, that can make a big difference to a vehicle’s operability. Both of the new seats are roughly 10 pounds lighter than our current seats, which would make our buses up to 500 pounds lighter in total. Making the bus lighter is important for many reasons, but the main one is fuel consumption.
For battery-electric buses, every pound counts. The lighter the bus, the further it can travel before having to recharge. Our current battery-electric buses can travel around 40 or 100 kilometres on a single charge, depending on the model. Our next order of battery-electric buses from Nova Bus should be able to travel over 150 kilometres on a single charge. By making it lighter through this change, it will help the bus travel even further.
We’re also looking at potentially making this switch for other buses we purchase in the future. Making buses lighter would make our buses cleaner, emitting fewer greenhouse gas emissions per kilometre travelled.
So, if you have the chance to make it down to Lonsdale Quay any time soon, step right up, take a seat and scan the QR code to vote!

Akroyd called this painting one of his ‘Visual Diaries’, and it’s a great addition to the art in transit meme.
