angsty pining dialogue
person A rubs an eyebrow, “i just don’t think i understand feelings anymore.”
A watches person B accept a marriage proposal after only dating someone for a month or so. A had been on their way to confess their love [even as an immortal being] but it had been microseconds too late. they were just in time, however, to hear B say yes.
“there’s no way,” A says quietly, “no way that i could deserve this. the one person i find myself falling for and they... well. i suppose that’s humanity, for you. loving without pressure. my feelings... they’re a little rusty. a little... uh, stupid.”

a couple punchy starter lines.
“you’re not a monster, just... a little bit of a burden.”
“i just want this to be over.”
“i thought about you today.
“trauma isn’t a timed race to the death, alright?”
“our reality is lonesome.”
“this is a lovely Pokemon battle of who is broken more by past experiences.”
“if you need a sign, well, i’m your [wo]man.”
“i wanted to help you enjoy your life.”
“people put their lives into my hands so easily, like it’s my job - it’s too much.”
“there’s nothing else i could have done.”
“don’t move without me. please.”
“you know a room full of mirrors works wonders for image issues?”
“i am enough is tasting pretty bad these days.”
“you left, but i left first.”
“the way they draw their question marks makes me sad.”
“a lot of my childhood memories involve dirt and weeds and bathtubs and stuff.”
“it’s almost like the drummer is playing your heartbeat for you.”
“i’m so tired of all these rules.”

“it’s not a herbie thing”
person A gets a new car. A’s car suddenly seems to listen to his phone ramblings about person B and starts to do something about it.
- A’s car swerves into B’s car, though not to hit him. A scrambles out and tries to explain. A begs B to go on a drive with them to prove that it wasn’t their fault.
- the car doesn’t do anything on the drive, but as B gets out (annoyed) and A follows (upset,) the car revs its engine, even though A’s keys are hanging from their thumb.

possible high stakes
“he calculated everything, everything up to the last digit of code.” her fingers are flying across the keyboard. “he almost had us.”
“almost? what are you talking about?”
“he forgot one thing.” the corrupted file reaches 98%. “have you ever noticed how the last percent always loads slower? aggravating, right?”
“i... i guess?”
“it isn’t your imagination.”
the file reaches 99%. she types in the kill code in the extra time. the screen goes black.
