What does it take to get through to someone who won't listen to what you're telling them??? I'm in constant pain and she thinks I can work for habitat for humanity or walk dogs. I have muted her from emailing me. I'll have to block her from calling and texting me too. I'm tired of her.

I *knew* that companies have been trying to shift blame for damage to the environment onto regular people's buying habits, but it has still somehow been a shock to research a topic and find the internet totally dominated by the narrative that "consumerism" and the desire to buy more stuff is entirely responsible for pollution and landfill waste, instead of factors such as planned obsolescence.
It's insidious—this widespread idea that average people are too greedy, and that's what fuels climate change and pollution. Not greedy companies.
"Consumers shop for clothes to stay on-trend and throw away perfectly good old clothes." "Consumers only wear clothes a few times before throwing them away." "A huge amount of landfill waste comes from clothing that consumers throw out." "Consumers replace their wardrobes arbitrarily to stay on-trend." "Consumer demand for 'fast fashion' is rising spite of the environmental impacts."
Statements like this make it sound like regular people want to buy and waste vast amounts of resources, and normal people's unchecked addiction to shopping is causing environmental devastation. It's horribly misleading when products are being deliberately designed to break or wear out within one or two years and to be impossible to repair.
Instead of "Americans are buying way more clothes than they did 20 years ago, causing lots of landfill waste!"
Where are the articles entitled "Clothing brands are selling poorly-made clothes that have to be replaced much more often than 20 years ago, causing lots of landfill waste!"

When people get terrified or outraged at the idea of “glorifying obesity”, I always wonder what it is they’re afraid is going to happen.
Do they think that all the sudden people who were thin are going rush out to pack on the pounds, or that across the country school kids will be fixated on fat and compete amongst each other to see who can become the fattest, that it’ll show up on the 6 o’ clock news as the latest alarming trend in our nation’s youth?
I mean, do they think that if people see pictures of fat folks looking nice and smiling and being happy and not hating their bodies that everyone who was about to eat a salad is gonna toss it out in favor a cheeseburger (even the vegans!) and cancel their gym memberships?
Are they scared that a $20 billion dollar weight gain industry is gonna crop up and magazines are going to talk about “packing on those last fifteen pounds before summer”. Do they think suddenly there’s gonna be a flood of ads saying, “Gain belly fat using this one weird old tip” on people’s computer screens?
Do these people think positively presented fat bodies are so powerful and persuasive that it will convince thin people to utterly abandon thinness and dedicate themselves to getting as big as they can?
Or are they upset that people who were already fat will go around continuing to be fat without being punished for existing. Perhaps what they fear is that if we “glorify” obesity, that fat hate will make less and less sense to the world in general and that eventually, weight will become a neutral property. Thinness won’t be so valued that it can sustain industries, nor held as the perfect way to have a body but be seen as one among many valid body types.
Maybe, even worse, all this glorification will lead to the idea that all bodies are valid and that bodies are never anything to be ashamed of or shame someone for.

Ignore the first one. 🙄
Don't use unrelated tags. It's incredibly annoying to search for something and see a bunch of posts that have nothing to do with it.
apparently tumblr is being flocked by twitter users because the site is dying before our eyes so hi, I welcome you with open arms. this site is not perfect. has its glitches and issues.
some tips:
if you reblog a post and have something to say, keep your comments in the tags.
reblog content you enjoy. reply (if op allows) to posts you like.
you can only post / reblog / queue 250 posts within each 24 hours.
you can only follow 5,000 people
send asks to people who you want to befriend.
you will inevitably become mutuals with a swiftie and or a destiel shipper, accept it.
you can’t have group chats on here like you can on twitter (they tried and well, failed) but you can still make plenty of friends on here without being in a groupchat.
participate in fandom things.
block who you want for whatever reason. curating your own online experience is important!
we celebrate the ides of march and also november 5th 2020.
we start celebrating halloween in july.
do you love the color of the sky? i hope so.
remember: this is my turf and you are now in my homeland.

Pandemic means global epidemic. You can say devastating deadly Pandemic if you need an adjective.
the idea of catching covid should be horrifying to people. we're only 2+ years into this pandemic and are already seeing long term effects like cognitive decline, increased risk of heart attack and stroke, immunity depletion and dozens more health consequences of having even a "mild" case of it. we already know from SARS-1 that many who had it continue to suffer long term sequelae nearly 2 decades after their infection. we know of many other horrible long term consequences of other viruses that can appear decades after the initial infection [e.g. shingles from varicella zoster virus (chicken pox), cervical and oropharyngeal cancers from HPV, multiple sclerosis from epstein barr virus (glandular fever) + many more] and yet people are being completely blasé about getting their 3rd, 4th, 5th+ infection. we are going to look back at our current minimisation of the dangers of covid with absolute horror in the future when a decent amount of the population will be suffering from the long term effects of this absolutely piss poor management of a global pandemic

Someone needs to get ads on to combat these corporate ads trying to destroy bills that can reduce medication prices, stop monopolies, end mistreatment of employees, etc.

The US, apartment, the clothes machines are in a pantry in the kitchen. It makes more sense to put them in the bathroom or right outside the bathroom. There are apartments like that but not mine. The bathroom definitely didn't have any women in on the design. Plenty of cabinet space but not near the toilet so I can keep menstrual items nearby in private.
