I visited Paris Morning Bakery for the first time today! Despite the name, it's actually a Korean-French fusion kind of bakery.

My sister gushed about my love for Korean stuff to a Korean worker, so the worker offered to play some K-Pop. After a while, they still didn't play any INFINITE songs, so I mustered up some courage and personally requested it.

I was so ready to vote for Infinite’s The Eye for best dance, best song, and best vocals for this year’s MAMA’s, but when I went to vote I was shocked to see the weren’t nominated for a single one. I know that they’re an old group and might not have a chance against groups like EXO or BTS, but The Eye may have been the best comeback of the year. (And I’m not even an Infinite stan, I literally don’t even know all of the members.)

ok fine, explan to me why infinite deserve any awards this year when bad was a flop. i just want know your reasons behind thinkign they deserve wins. sunggyu and infinite h too? they just cant compete with groups like got7 or bts.

Firstly, I want to just make it very clear that I hate comparing groups like that. Especially when you are comparing recently debuted groups to a group in their 6th year. I’m not gonna drag other groups or other fandoms into this, because what is the point? 

Why do I think Infinite deserve to win awards? Well, anon, probably for the same reason you want your faves to win at the end of year shows: because they’re my favourite group, I think they worked really hard, and I think they proved themselves yet again this year to be big names in Kpop. 

You can’t talk about stunning live performances without mentioning Infinite; 

you can’t talk about astounding dance skills without mentioning Infinite;

you can’t talk about incredible vocals without mentioning Infinite. 

And I want to point out right now that I don’t believe that artists who won at the MAMAs this year were undeserving of their awards: SHINee definitely earnt their win for Best Dance; Big Bang released a shit ton of stuff this year and so Artist of the Year is something it’s expected they would win, especially after their long hiatus. The thing that really pissed me off about the entire thing was a felling of Infinite being snubbed - not even being nominated for some awards at all. 

You wanna tell me that Infinite, who debuted from a small company in 2010, who lived in a cramped dorm, who practiced 18+ hours a day, who sweated and ached and worked to make a name for themselves, who went through loss after loss, who almost disbanded before they won with Be Mine in 2011, you wanna tell me that they don’t deserve everything?! This group that built themselves up to the point that their earnings could buy their company a new building? This group that have had not one, but two world tours in three years? Actual world tours, that have seen them take the stage across Asia, Europe and the USA?

Bad was a flop, was it? Well, last time I checked a ‘flop’ doesn’t earn an artist 6 wins on music shows, does it? Enough said. 

You wanna talk to me about Kim Sunggyu, anon? Ha. Ha. Ha. Let’s talk about Kim Sunggyu. Let’s talk about how his first solo album Another Me topped the weekly Gaeon charts back in 2012 and has sold 92,463 copies on the Gaeon charts and 69,194 on Hanteo as of May 2015 (source). Let’s talk about how his second solo album, 27, was produced by Nell’s Kim Jongwan and featured Epik High’s Tablo - and not because they were lured in to do it through money, but because they wanted to. Because they both believed in Sunggyu, both admire his talent and his voice and wanted to be a part of his album. Again, this album topped the charts. He won twice on music shows. And to date it has sold 73,971 in Korea (source). 

And as for Infinite H, you’re really gonna come here to my Dongwoo biased ass, and imply that they are undeserving of awards? Friend, have you ever seen these boys dance? Perform? Have fun on stage? Well, I have. I’ve been lucky enough to see Infinite on both world tours and each time the Infinite H stage was fucking on fire. They have a sweet side too: for their recent album Fly Again they had one lead single. But as a gift to fans when they won on music shows, they recorded a special MV for an album track. Cute right? Album sales for their first release Fly High, 93,884 (source). Fly Again? 33,143+ since it’s release this year (source). Don’t hate on Infinite H, man, just enjoy their summery 90s hip hop vibe and chill.

We might be a smaller fandom, and our boys might get overlooked but that doesn’t mean it’s right. Infinite prove themselves time and time again that they deserve every win, every award, every victory they achieve.
