just finished episode 17. I think it's so funny how wen kexing and ye baiyi hate each others guts even though they literally want the exact same thing. also wen kexing has been looking so much like a small pathetic wet kitten. i need to pick him up and put him in my pocket

ok I'm on episode 15-16 of WoH and here are my thoughts so far:
Gu Xiang is like if Jiang Cheng's daughter was also Wei Wuxian's protege. She's the worst of Jin Ling and Wei Wuxian put together and I love her.
She and Cao Weining are like Xuanli if Jiang Yanli had turned out the way Yu Ziyuan wanted her to.
Cao Weining!!! He's so endearing!!!!
I'm coming around on Wen Kexing. I totally didn't trust him before but it seems like he actually cares a lot about Zhou Zishu now. I believe they can work things out between them.
Chengling is my baby son and I hope nothing bad ever happens to him. I'm taking him and putting him in a cozy blanket nest and feeding him soup and hot cocoa.
I feel really bad for Gao Xiaolian. Poor girl. I want her to have a happy ending but it's not looking good for her at the moment.
Han Ying is totally gonna die I'm calling it now. He's too good and narratively convenient to live much longer.
Tragicomic Ghost and Liu Qianqiao are such a power duo. Yes queens kill those lame-ass men! I kinda don't like that they both seem to have tragic love stories with random middle-aged men who possibly abandoned them though.
I NEED to see more of Scorpion King. I keep seeing him in the opening (and closing?) credits and I'm fascinated by him but he's only had like 2 seconds of screentime so far and I'm so curious.
Just met Ye Baiyi and I'm not sure what to think about him. I feel like something really big has to happen for Zhou Zishu to change his mind about the life-saving surgery.
Shen Shen is really annoying. I hope bad things happen to him.

"Hearing the last part, Jiang Cheng remembered the past three months of rushing about and working day and night. He felt somewhere moved, but quickly put on a harsh face"

I see fics writing Nie Huisang like:
Nue Huisang: "OMG Jiang Cheng was so mean and bitch with Wei-Xiong i must had to take revenge because this is not fair >:("
When in canon he is like:
Nie Huisang: Oh, Jiang Cheng was a bitch to Wei WuXian.
Nie Huisang: ...
Nie Huisang: Anyway-

i think the hottest look you can give someone after they commit acts of unspeakable violence is approval. like don't get me wrong if there's lust there too that's great, but staring at someone with gore dripping down their chin and coating their hands to the wrists with undisguised appraisal and admiration. maybe giving them a little nod as if to say 'well done'. THAT'S what says "yeah we're gonna fuck nasty later".

One thing i've run up against when dealing with fandom and characters making less than ideal choices is that people seem to treat a character's decision being sympathetic, the decision being understandable, the decision being reasonable, and it being objectively the best solution for the situation, as synonymous. When those are 4 very different things.

Can't help but think about how much of Jiang Cheng’s 'I am nothing without my core' outburst when he wakes up after losing it is not because he needs to be the best but because he just lost the only thing he could do for his mother after she died. If it would've mattered less to him once he'd gotten the time to mourn her loss. If he stays up at night thinking about how all his accomplishments so far were possible because of Wei Wuxian's core, and how that would've disappointed her even more. If he thinks that she would've let Wei Wuxian give him his core had she been around back then, and feels an old but horribly familiar anger burn through him. If he still curses her for her last words to Wei Wuxian and curses himself for parroting them. If he curses Wei Wuxian for believing them.
Can't help but wonder if his dedication to the sect was to protect its people and those who depended on it just as much as it was about continuing a legacy, upholding his duty. If he really did all that to make his dead mother proud and earn his dead father's respect, if these considerations ever took first place in the light of day where he had a sect and a nephew to look after, or got relegated to the late hours when he lay awake, haunted by the past. Can't help but wonder if he ever saw Jin Ling cry, realised that his own mother would've scolded him for showing weakness, and decided that what she thought mattered less than he'd realised.
Can't help but wonder how much his mother still haunts his life.

Wei Wuxian either was ripped apart by his zombie army due to his own loss of control over them (book) or threw himself off a cliff (drama). JGY did not make him do that.
Jiang Yanli died because she cared so much about Wei Wuxian, the man she saw as a little brother, that she traveled to the battlefield and then actively decided to put herself between him and the blade of a random cultivator who had a grudge against him. JGY did not make her do that.
Fic Prompt
During a conference, someone presents Jin Guangyao with a rare artifact. Upon activating it, however, the ghosts of everyone Jin Guangyao has killed or had someone else kill appear. The ghosts bear marks of how they were killed. (Wei Wuxian is in shreds, Nie Mingjue has blood dripping from his eyes, nose, and mouth, Jiang Yanli has a stab wound, etc.)

The agonising feel when a character tag is full of shipping that you Simply Do Not Vibe With. The solution is, naturally, to keep scrolling. But the wince, the WINCE.
