Play me "a mist"
I overheard something interesting. When I was passing by some lady speaking on her phone, she said to someone "It is like telling a musician to "play the mist"". I think it was a conversation about someone who couldn't quite explain what they wanted, but my mind immediately went to question "Which mist?".
Because - what kind of a mist? I am not a musician, but I think there are few different kind of mists and each of them would sound different.
There is a mist over a meadow full of flowers, at a warm, summer dawn.
And there is a mist over some Scottish heatherfield, at a cold, November evening, nearby some abandoned and extremly haunted castle.
And there is a mist over XIXth century London, at night, mixed with a smoke from chimmneys. and there is some gruesome serial killer disappearing in it.
IT'S THREE DIFFERENT MISTS, WHICH ONE WOULD YOU LIKE TO HEAR
I am not sure why I am telling you this or if it tells something about me.

How to Write Deaf Characters - From a real Deaf person’s perspective
Hello readers and writers alike, I would like to point out something that has been so glaringly annoying to me and other Deaf/HoH people so that we can end all these misconceptions. People who write for Deaf!Readers should know a few things before starting their imagines, fanfictions, blurbs - anything. It is not anyone’s fault for not knowing these things, most hearing people are not aware of the Deaf community or Deaf culture so here I am, a Deaf person who is majoring in Deaf Studies and Culture, coming here to tell you a few things to know when writing for a Deaf!Reader
(Remember this is my experience as a Deaf/HoH person and it may differ from person to person but this is what I learned/have slight annoyances within writing)
Deaf and Hard of Hearing is a culture. Yes, most people consider it a disability but IT IS NOT SOMETHING WE ARE ASHAMED OF! Please stop writing fics/imagines about Deaf!Reader being ashamed of not being able to hear or getting hearing aids to impress their SO. It’s completely wrong and just annoying. We are proud of our Deafness and we don’t want to be fixed.
DO NOT USE THE TERM ‘HEARING IMPAIRED’! This is basically a slur word. It was widely used in the ’90s but now it’s considered a derogatory term. Just use Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Or ‘deaf’ if the person is medically deaf and not culturally Deaf. (see next point)
Deaf and ‘deaf’ are different. Deaf is a cultural term for people who are born Deaf and raised in the community. The term ‘deaf’ is used in the medical field or used to describe someone who has hearing loss that does not associate with the Deaf Community. Usually, a hearing person who has become deaf later on.
Sign language is not a worldwide language. There are different types of language within sign language. ASL is for American and Canada. BSL is for Britain. So if you’re writing a story that takes place in a country that is not America or Canada, do not say ASL.
ASL does not = English. Same for every other language. ASL is its own language with grammar rules and semantics. It does not directly translate to English. So if you’re writing ASL most likely write in GLOSS or write it as you would write a hearing character. (Sentance: I want to go to the mall and buy a dress. GLOSS: I WANT WANT GO TO MALL I. ME BUY DRESS ME )
Deafness is on a spectrum. There is a legal threshold that someone must pass to be considered legally Deaf. Some Deaf people can hear more than others. I can hear high pitched noises sometimes. I know someone who can hear voices but can not hear what they are saying. Both of us are Deaf and we both cross that threshold. So when writing your Deaf!Character make sure to set a bar of what they can and can not hear.
Hearing Aids do not cure anyone’s deafness. It only helps hear some sounds and maybe hear if people are talking. Not what they are saying although it can help with that depending on how far they are on the Deaf scale.
Cochlear Implants are very controversial in the Deaf Community so if you’re going to write about them do your research!!! They are also not a cure for Deafness, just an aid.
Deaf people are not masters at lipreading! Even the best lip readers can only make sense of 30% of what is being said. I’ve been lip reading for years and I still only understand a little bit of what is being said. So no, your character is not going to miraculously know what’s going on from lip reading.
DO NOT have your characters yell at your Deaf characters. DOES NOT MATTER HOW LOUD YOU ARE! We can not hear you. Neither can your character. Have your other hearing characters speak normally. That’s the best way to lip read if they must.
Most Deaf people are born from hearing parents. It’s really rare for a whole entire family to be Deaf (Although I’ve met some and it’s super cool). But your character is probably born to hearing parents.
ALSO, the majority of hearing families with Deaf children do NOT learn ASL. It sucks but it’s true. Only about 30-40% of families learn sign for their Deaf family members. So keep it in mind,
So this is my list for now! I may add to it the more I think about things but this is basics I think everyone should know. If I forgot some then feel free to add! (as long as you are knowledgeable about the topic please). If you have questions please message me! Or if you need someone to proofread your Deaf!Imagines then I almost here for that. So happy writings everyone!
ILY

Princess Olga of the Southern Isles - one more reason why Lars will definitely go grey way too early.
Actual illustration to 59th chapter of my pirate fanfic - it is very early in the morning, Lars is just coming back from a very stressful night and see this.
Kid, give your poor dad a break
And yes, they are in those stables

Day 27 of a writing challange
590 words today, because the last chapter is way too good to not have an illustration, so I am working on it.

Day 26 of a writing challange
1 665 words today, crossing the line of 500 pages, so great celebration! Unfortunately, my head is acting up again. I will manage, though. But it would be much easier without such issues.
Also, I learn a new word today, which is - "ridge". In the meaning of - a beam laid along the edge where two sloping sides of a roof meet at the top provides an attachment for the upper ends of rafters.
Great for me.

Day 25 of a writing challenge
2 364 words today and I somehow managed to get both Emperor's New Groove and Macbeth into this fanfic.
This "Frozen" fanfic now has "Macbeth" in it.
I think I am losing it
...also, why is this chapter so dark, like, jeez, chill

It is so lazy, like... I know creating 12 distinct characters + parents is probably expensive, but seriously, Disney

Sometimes I think of the Westergaard family tree we see before the Frozen sing-a-long in the parks.

Day 24 of a writing challenge
Well, 137 words this time. I guess my day routine was thrown off a little and I just didn't have time, and now I just have to go to sleep...
Also, short scene about me:
Me: Well, I am not really feeling it today, I guess I'll just review and add something, maybe...
Me during my German classes I paid for with my own money, in my exercise book, when I really should be paying attention: "The Southern Isles' old castle was built as soon as the last days of the Vikings have passed. In its prime it had eight towers, two sets of defence walls and one hundred and thriteen rooms, not counting..."

Your WIP Arkanis ? 🤗
Well, you and @true--north both asked!
Arkanis, aka "The Imperial Basterds" (not a typo, a reference!) is a fanfic for Star Wars Sequels. It is also the longest text I have ever written - it has 161 982 words. Well, "The Pirate of the Southern Isles" is catching up fast with 142 318...
Technically, it is Kylux (Kylo Ren & General Hux), but not really, since there is no actual romantic nor sexual relationship between them. They are just working together trying not to blow up their cover.
The premise is: Kylo managed to piss off Hux one time too many and Hux has totally quitted on his job. Like, totally, he grabbed a bag and bugged out of the nearly-finished Starkiller base. Kylo - since nothing works without Hux - was tasked by Supreme Leader Snoke with finding him, apologizing and bringing him back ASAP.
In the meantime, Hux, who never took a vacation in his life, figured out what he want to do with all this time in his hands. He decided to finally solve the mystery that was with him since the day he was born. So he flew to his home planet, Arkanis, to find the mother he has never met.
And the first thing he encountered was a murder search, because apparently his hometown was being terrorized by a serial killer, commiting really gruesome crimes. He walked straight into one of the murder scenes. And met a very eager, soon-to-be-a-cop (but would be much better off as a private detective) woman named Lizzie, who thinks she is able to solve that case better than an actual police. Of course, he cannot tell her who he is, because the new war hasn't started yet, so he introduces himself as a history student, researching for his project about old Imperial academies.
Kylo tags along after a few days and they are both crashing on Lizzie's and her mother's couch, because Hux made it clear that he really wants to:
A) find someone,
B) find the murderer, because the police chief managed to irritate the shit out of him already.
And he refuses to go back without those objectives completed, no matter how much Kylo threatens him.
There are many reflection about the aftermath of the war - not only the galactic war, but a civil war - when two enemies have to live together again as neighbours, despite fighting on the different sides before.
Unfortunately, this WIP is on hiatus since 2021 I think. It is even sadder that it was like 2/3 done...
