your favorite sidebar theme just got an upgrade, babeyyy
I went to update Ocular to make it NPF post-compliant and then my hand slipped and I redesigned the whole thing lmao. here's a brief update about Ocular 3; if you're looking for a full list of changes between versions 2 and 3, click the "Read More" below)
Ocular comes with the following features:
Colors: easily change the color scheme of your sidebar and posts using any colors you want
Post sizes: 400px, 500px, 540px, 600px, 700px
Sidebar: can be on the left, right, or above the posts. pick from a list of sidebar sizes, header image heights, and avatar shapes
Fonts: 20 different fonts, sizes 13px to 18px
Background: solid, gradient, full-size image or repeating image
Links: choose either regular navigation or drop-down navigation. unlimited custom links (visit the help desk FAQ for a tutorial) and ability to rename home, ask, submit, and archive links
Endless scroll, custom ask box text, Tumblr's full-width controls and search bar, optional header, avatar, and favicon images
if you already have Ocular installed, version 3 should be coming at you as soon as the update passes the theme garden. if you installed this theme with GitHub, you'll have to re-install manually.
now let's get to the fun stuff. what's new in version 3?
wow, do I have some updates for you!
1. goodbye color schemes, hello post background and text colors
you can now directly control the color of the posts rather than relying on color schemes to do it. want your posts to be a very specific shade of navy? all yours, buddy. go wild (make sure it's readable tho)
2. hello, color schemes! wait I thought we got rid of that guy
a lot of the color schemes I made became redundant now that the new post background/text color options exist. if you were married to the old color schemes, all of them can be recreated using those options. so the new color scheme options are as follows:
"My colors" — uses the colors you picked for post background/text
"Light preset" and "dark preset" — sets the posts to white with black text, or off-black with white text
"Translucent" — uses the colors you choose for post background/text, but makes the post backgrounds semi-transparent. there are NINE different translucent color schemes, ranging from 90% (only slightly see-through) to 10% (VERY see through)
3. navigation dropdown option
you can either use the sidebar links like they were before, or you can turn them into a cute little dropdown (helpful if you have lots of links or links with long titles!) you can enable this using the "use dropdown navigation" setting. you can also customize the label for the dropdown using the "dropdown menu label" setting. for instance, the dropdown on my blog currently says "oooh you wanna click me"
4. RIP google fonts I always hated your load times
decided to stop using Google Fonts and instead I'm providing the font files directly in the code. this will help speed up load times drastically when using custom fonts, plus I don't have to use Google. win-win! there's quite a bit of coverage overlap with the old fonts, but some of them that were too similar to each other got the ax. I also added all of the system fonts as options (hit classics like Arial, Georgia, and Comic Sans MS are now available TO YOU!)
5. more layout, sizing, and spacing options
the sidebar used to be either on the center-left, center-right, or above the posts; now it can go in the top-left or top-right! you can now control the border radius on the posts and sidebar. the header height, sidebar width, and post spacing all have additional options.
6. some options have been renamed for additional clarity
"background color 1" -> "background color"
"background color 2" -> "gradient background color"
"background" -> "background style"
"font override" -> "use body font everywhere"
"title" -> "sidebar title"
"description" -> "sidebar description"
"ask box text" -> "custom HTML above ask box"
7. removed some options
you win some, you lose some. I removed the uppercase sidebar links, theme credit, and inline media spacing options, mostly for redundancy reasons or because they produced unclear results.
8. as previously stated, now NPF-compliant
Ocular was ALMOST compliant with Tumblr's new post format, but had a few tweaks that needed to be ironed out. they're now ironed.
9: now user-friendly right out of the box
I updated the default color and content options, so new users installing this theme will have a much easier time using and customizing it immediately. no more ugly ass green background!
10. and finally, new JS
I had to rewrite some of the javascript for this theme, which turned into me rewriting ALL of the javascript. doing so meant that I could eliminate dependencies on third-party JS libraries and run the whole thing on plain JS. that should improve load times!!
bonus: custom CSS can do some nifty stuff now
want to change the size of your avatar? you can do that now! just do this to your Advanced > Add custom CSS section

super helpful if you're using the Avatar shape: Uncropped setting and you need your image to be a specific size (like a pixelated GIF)

hi :] this isnt really a reqest cuz it'll prob be a longer answer but im rlly curious abt ur comic process
i love all ur comics and somehow they always manage to gutpunch me- and ur composition and the way they read is always so beautiful and adds so much to the message youre trying to get across
yeah lol let's get into it! Ive spent maybe 5 or so years refining this process to the point it's at now so it's pretty much my standard procedure now. I'm going to use Now that you're gone as my primary example here since i still have most of the planning stages associated with it (my laptop does not have a whole lot of storage left so i usually delete my planning once the comic is finished lol) but i'll try to throw in some other examples too!
I almost always start with a written script. (the exception for this is longform oc comics which i find easier to write in the moment, but for my shorter character studies I almost always write first.) I use discord to write because it's convenient, but before i had a dedicated discord server for my stuff i was using txt files on my laptop which i do NOT recommend. anyway, this is what the written script for ntyg looked like:

note that some small elements changed in production, like the amount of time that had passed since link's death. the lines "I look at her and i am only afraid. i remember all the ways in which i hurt you. She's almost as old now as you were then. I cannot stand the thought of outliving her, too" were also added during the rough stage because i felt like there wasn't quite enough emphasis on aryll in the initial script, and since this was a major change that necessitated a whole extra page in the comic I went back and edited those lines into the script so I wouldn't forget them. (both these changes were made during the rough stage. i'll almost never make major script adjustments after the roughs are finished.)
more examples of my scripts; specifically the original script for totk: failure and two versions of oot: adulthood (one before some major refining and one after.) with comics like these, where i have a very clear idea in my head of the imagery i want to go along with the words, i'll sometimes include it interspersed in the script, either spolier-marked or denoted with brackets.

with ntyg and some of my other more. canon divergent? i guess? comics, there's sort of a mini phase in between scripting and roughs where I do some minor character studies to get designs nailed down in the early stages. with ntyg I already had a clear image in my mind for aryll, but the central character was link's dad, whose design wasn't quite so solid in my head. I really wanted to make sure that his design was well thought-out and consistent throughout everything, so i did a few mini sketches and studies to ensure I had his design memorized and could execute it consistently:

these are sans hair and accessories because nailing down consistent facial features was my main focus with them, and both these sketches ended up getting used as references for certain panels later on. This isn't a step I ALWAYS take with my comics, but if there's a central character that i'm not super used to drawing i find it helpful to get some practice in before jumping into the real thing!
after the scripting and design phases i move on to roughs, which I consider to be the most important stage in my process. roughs are very very quick approximations of what I want the final pages to look like. they usually don't take me more than a few minutes per page to create, and their sole purpose is to help me visualize the flow of the page and the placement of major elements like panels, characters, and dialog. this is what the 1st page rough for ntyg looked like compared to the final page:

as you can see, all i have laid out is the major text and visual elements, but it really helps me to visualize how the finished comic is going to flow. i do the roughs for every page before i start on the finals so that i have an idea of what the entire comic is going to look like before I really start finalizing it. it's important that these roughs are FAST--i almost never draw fully-fledged characters unless the pose or expression is particularly important to the scene, and that's because the goal is to allow everything to flow quickly and easily from panel to panel and page to page, and getting too caught up on one panel or element often breaks that flow. Nowadays, i have a pretty good idea of how much room my writing takes up so i don't write out the entire script in my roughs, but back when i was a little less experienced i took the time to write everything out in this stage to ensure that my dialog would fit into the space it was given without getting cramped or cutting off other important elements. doing that really helped me build awareness of how much dialog and panel placement matters and how i could use it, so this rough stage is non-negotiable for me even now!
after the roughs i go straight into finalization. I never enjoyed lineart back when i was learning to draw digitally so i basically built my art style to be understandable and visually appealing after one sketch phase, meaning there's legitimately no in-between stage between that rough and that final page, i just sort of. go for it. this is what works for me, but i think most normal people would probably find a second sketch phase helpful LMAO i'm just crazy and i need everything done as fast as possible. the finalization stage usually doesn't contain any major adjustments of script, composition, etc; i make it a general rule to keep most of the major adjustments confined to the earlier stages, for my own sanity. One thing that DOES occasionally change in this stage is my plans for color--ntyg in particular was originally planned to be completely black-and-white with no grays added, but when looking at my completed pages i found them sort of empty and unengaging without the gray, so i added it. usually if my color plans DO change it's something small like that--I'll almost never switch between full-color and grayscale on a whim because the way that i sketch for those two versions differs significantly so it isn't an easy switch to make.
anyways i hope this is what you were looking for! I'm very passionate about making comics and this process is a result of years of experimentation & finding what works for me, but i hope it's of some use to you as well!

When Eyes Meet (Murasakibara Atsushi)
A/N: Here I decided to make a Murasakibara version of an Aomine fic I wrote. The Soulmate concept belongs to the American comic series, ElfQuest. Aomine - Kise - Kagami - Kuroko - Akashi - Midorima

You already had gathered the small excess pile of candy, and was waiting for Murasakibara. Because of health conditions, you were often dealing with fatique and dizziness. As a result, your mom had began packing your bag with a bag of candy every day. "You're always low on energy, so it would be good for you to eat a few whenever you get your dizzy spells, sweetheart!" Your mom had chirped when you spotted her doing that. She had a point. But the bag she always bought, contained various flavors. You liked most of them, but the strawberry one was so sweet you felt like you would vomit pure sugar. Your mother agreed. So now, you were left habitually with strawberry leftovers. Thankfully, one of the wealthiest kids in school had a gigantic sweet tooth, and a roommate that would limit his amount of times to the local grocery store. His name was Murasakibara, and with Himuro around, it pretty much drove Murasakibara to your pile of strawberry sweets like an ant that had gotten a whiff of sugar. He bought your excess strawberry candy, and he paid the original bag price. You had thought of just asking for half the price of the bag, considering the strawberry ones made up like 25% of the bag at best and still have profit, but Murasakibara always paid the full price. When you asked him about it, he said he did it so you would keep selling them to him only. To make up for his kindness, you always gave him any of the leftovers of the flavors you did like too. And so, he basically funded your sugar rush. Both the two of you were pretty grateful to Murasakibara, it was a somewhat expensive fix, buying candy for your dizzy spells every day. You felt yourself perk as you saw his large figure approach you, and you waved. "Murasakibara-san." You greeted, as the purplette stood still in front of you. "What's up y/n-chin?" He asked lazily, but not at all disinterested. "Pretty good, today wasn't bad. I have a few lemon left too." You turnt around to the pile, scopping them up into your hands. Murasakibara's eyes glittered like a child's when the candies slipped into his hands, and if you didn't think he was worried about dropping one then it would almost appear as if Murasakibara withdrew his hands from yours a little too slowly. You walked with him, side by side. It was peaceful, as it usually was. Whenever you were walking side by side with Murasakibara, it felt calming. Like his presence sent a wave of comfort down your spine. You often wondered if he considered you a casual friend, like you saw him. He often left you guessing, and whilst it annoyed you, somehow you felt way too nervous to actually ask him if you were friends. Why you did not know, or perhaps you did but you just rather didn't want to really face it.
You later on wondered outside of the campus, considering Yosen was a boarding school. It was a really nice day, in Akita. You enjoyed the afternoon sun. As you turnt around the corner, you saw Murasakibara resting under a tree, eating chips. "Hey!" You greeted, looking at him. "Hello, y/n-chin." He greeted, as he stuffed his mouth full. You gestured at the spot next to him, and with a small nod, you sat next to him under the tree. "It's a nice day, isn't it?" You asked, and received another nod. You relaxed against the bark, the sweet breeze filling your lungs, playing a bit with your hair. The scent of food and nature filled the air. "Hey, I thought Himuro had limited your chips stack?" You questioned, curiously. "He Recognized last month, he's a lot more busy nowadays." Murasakibara confided to you, and your eyes widened out of surprise. "That's great news! I'm happy for him!" You chirped. Recognition was a natural phenomenon that happened as long as mankind could remember. People had always had two names. One used by everyone, and one more intimate, special. The name of their soul. This was a name one would only share with their parents, perhaps a sibling or a friend as close as a sibling. There was one special instance, where someone knew your name instinctively. Recognition was when two people would lock their eyes, and somehow, they'd know the other's soul name. Recognition usually led to a lifelong romance. It was, as society dubbed it, 'the moment you knew you found your soulmate.' Many people had wondered how Recognition worked. There seemed no pattern, no rule. Some people Recognized upon first glance, others did after already knowing their partner for a while. Some even had known the person they Recognized since childhood. It just happened. Recognized couples looked so happy, it seemed like there was a superior type of romance about it. It made fairy tales with their talk about true love, make a lot more sense. Hearing Himuro found the love of his life was great news, obviously, but there was a little nagging voice at the back of your mind. One that told you to push the topic. Murasakibara just continued to much silently. "But if you can buy snacks again, you don't really need my candy deal, anymore, do you?" You asked, realizing that for the past month, Murasakibara had been buying your candy whilst he had access to his old snacks again. "I don't need it, but I like your candy." You looked at him curiously. "Do I need to remind you that you buy them for the full price? Why do that when I'm at best giving a third of the bag?" "I know. But it tastes better when it comes from you." Murasakibara mumbled, looking even more interested in his chips then usual. Your heart skipped a beat. "Murasakibara-san," you breathed with a small blush, trying to think of what to say. Murasakibara turnt to look at you, his violet eyes staring into your e/c ones. "Huh? I thought I told you I want your candy for myself," his voice sent shivers down your spine. 'Is it my candy, or is it me, Murasakibara, that you want for yourself?' The thought hit you, and you bit your lip. As you tried to take a deep breath and stared into his eyes, wanting to take the leap of confession; the universe gave you a helping hand. "Mahr?" The name came to you, and Murasakibara quickly turnt away. You watched as he stood up, and he looked at you with a surprisingly red face. "I think I need to be alone now. I'd like to talk to you later though, Shiel-chin." Your face broke out in a large grin, and you nodded. Finding the love of your life, was definitely a moment that you'd need to sink in so you watched him go in peace. A happy, serene smile plastered on your face. This was only just the beginning.

Lettering Tips for Comics Artists!
Lettering is an easy to overlook aspect of comics creation, partially because good lettering is designed to be invisible, but bad lettering can ruin an otherwise well crafted project.
Now, I'm not a letterer by trade, I'm a colorist who thinks too much about comics craft, but I've picked up on a few common mistakes I've seen new webcomic artists making, and I thought I'd share my tricks.
#1: Get a Dialog font
Sorry, despite Comic Sans having the word comic in the name, it's not actually good for lettering comics. Comic book letterers usually use specially designed fonts when they're lettering comics, and they often have websites where you can get these typefaces for a reasonable fee (or sometimes even free!)
What makes dialog typefaces special?
The barred-I! (and other contextual options)

This one is subtle, but generally, you want to only use the barred-I for the personal pronoun "I" or for roman numerals. It helps clarify that what you're looking at is an I and not an L, but it takes up more space in the word, and we're trying to reserve as much space as possible for the art on the page.

Specially made comic book fonts will also be custom designed to be legible at a distance, have multiple bold/italics options, and might even include special versions of individual letters for when you type multiple of the same character in a row! It'll give your lettering a personal touch that you won't get from typefaces designed for other things.

Blambot is a great resource for all your lettering needs. Here I'm using Backissues and Nightmark
#2: Dialog Stacking
Dialog should always be stacked such that your longest line of text is in the middle. The block of text itself should have a sort of diamond shape <>. Sometimes this is difficult to do, especially if you have any long words at the beginning or end of a sentence. You can't always get it to work (and if you're unwilling to rewrite your dialog so it fits), so sometimes it might not be perfect, but if your text block is more hourglass shaped >< that's a good indication that you should try putting your line breaks somewhere else. Basically try to make your text as round as possible if it's in a balloon.

#3: Balloon Shape
One of the more common mistakes I see webcomic artists making is using perfectly elliptical balloons. It's actually kind of difficult to fit text into balloons that are perfectly elliptical; there ends up being a lot of uneven space around the text, and it looks kind of cheap. Making your balloons slightly more rectangular is going to give you more bang for you buck, they'll fit the text block a little better. I like a hand drawn balloon, I tend to think they add variety.

One thing you definitely shouldn't do is this:

This might be a personal preference thing more than any kind of hard and fast rule, but these lettering styles give me the impression that the text is pasted on top of the art, and that no real thought was put into arranging it thoughtfully with the art. These are probably more appropriate for captions, not so much for dialog
Lettering is a part of the medium we're working with, the dialog should be approached as a part of the artwork, and treated as such.
#4: Balloon Placement
The number one, most important rule of lettering, is that the placement of your balloons should never confuse your reader. The goal of balloon placement is to guide your reader around the page, each one should naturally lead your reader towards the next thing they should read. Here's an example of something I see a lot:

While yes, it is true that on a comics page, people read left-to-right top-to-bottom, if two balloons are connected with a line, I am going to read them one after another. Readers are not going to intuitively assume they should jump to the other side of the page just because the #2 balloon is slightly above #3. In this situation the balloons should be interwoven.

It should not be possible to look from one balloon to another and skip over intermediate dialog. If your reader misses a part of the conversation and has to double back to figure out what they missed, you've broken the flow and immersion of the page.
Like I said, lettering is all about guiding your reader around the page, it should be a part of your composition from the beginning, don't forget to incorporate lettering into your work when you're first laying out your page. Put yourself in the place of your reader and see how your eyes track across the page.

It's one of the most useful reference books I own, and I learned most of this from that book.

Happy 3rd Anniversary Chromatale, and Goodnight.
So its about time I say this: I won't be making any content about this AU anymore, so that unfortunately puts it into the discontinued undertale comics category xd
I just really lost the spark I had 2 years ago when making it, so the "little hiatus" that I thought was only going to be a few months turned into more than a year.
I'm sorry to those who were waiting and wanted to see more, but there is another reason why I'm doing this-
It's not gonna be an AU anymore, it's going to be an original story.
I really thought about it for a while and I decided that making it into an original story would give me more creative freedom and I wouldn't have to always stick to one storyline, I wanted to expand the world more as well as the characters, but since its all based on a game with a pretty much solid story, it was hard for me to insert some things that would be out of place or wouldn't make sense.
So, I hope you understand, this AU was truly a learning experience for both my art and my writing since I made it when I was really young and not very experienced, but I'm glad I was able to improve along the way.
Thank you for supporting this AU since the beginning and stuck around!
I plan to make more works surrounding this new story later on, so I look forward to it! And I hope some of you are excited for what's to come. (*^▽^*)

This is gonna be a bit long so if you really wanna read this whole thing be prepared xd
This whole thing doesn't mean I'm quitting Undertale altogether, I'm still continuing the Strays Au, and I want that AU to be my main Undertale AU now since I've always intended on making it Undertale related and I'm already satisfied with it right now, so I don't intend on making it original or anything.
When I started Chromatale I was still a kid-ish, and I was at the toilet with my phone and idk how it started but I decided to doodle a Sans on my phone and thought "I can make an Undertale AU!".
And so I did. Chromatale back then was reallyyy different, it was a post-genocide story with Sans and Frisk trying to bring everyone back -yeah real original younger me
There was a comic I did on my phone but now its lost in time unfortunately, it went though like 2 rewrites until I decided to make it a full AU with my own story. And so some brainstorming later and the comic you all know today was made!
Again, I was still new to the whole comic making thing and my writing was pretty sloppy, I'm still surprised it got a lot of attention- I was full of passion and really worked my butt off to make each pages, even with school going on (it was online so it wasn't much of a hassle tho) I was determined to finish it and already had a lot of the comic planned.
That is until I felt a bit worn out, my motivation was getting lower until I could barely produce a page, so that's when I decided to put the comic on hiatus, I initially planned for it to only be a few months but then time went on and I still didn't feel motivated to continue it.
During that time I was just doing my own thing, making some OC art and different stories, making another Undertale AU, going back to school and a shit ton of projects to do- I felt like a little weight was lifted from my back, the comic had turned into labor for me and constantly doing updates wasn't very healthy, since during some updates I had to force myself to finish it.
The story was also changing in the middle of it, I had to rewrite chapter 3 since the first version was literally full of "fanservice" that I only noticed when I re-read the chapter a few months later.
I just wasn't satisfied with it, the story that my younger self had in mind didn't fit what I wanted now since I had grown more mature as time went on, the whole AU really taught me what to do and what not to do.
Initially I actually wanted to reboot Chromatale again and focus more on the concepts and solidifying the plot before engaging in a comic, but after some thinking I thought it would be better to transition it into an original story. I really wanted to expand the story more and again gain more creative freedom than being limited to a pretty much complete-ish story.
I wanted to do what I wanted instead of forcing it to fit with the fandom's liking and preference.
Although its going to be an original story some things will sorta be the same but I won't go into too much detail about it.
I won't promise a comic though, mini comics sure but not anything official. Maybe in the far distant future, but I doubt, I still got a lot of other stories I wanna make into comics >>
Now some things I would like to clarify:
"Now that you're discontinuing Chromatale can it be mine?"
-Unfortunately as much as you want to claim it, no. Chromatale still belongs to me. Even if its going to be original now there's still a lot about it during its UTAU days. I still own it, but I don't want to be heavily associated with it. I'd rather have others focus on the new version than the AU version, and I don't want all my other works to be overshadowed by it. I hope you understand.
"Can I still make fanart?"
-Feel free to still make fanart, I won't restrict anyone from still making any. But I'd still like to see fanart of the new version 👀
"Can I still dub the comic?"
-Sure, make sure to still credit me but please specify to viewers that the comic is now discontinued and its become an original story, I don't wanna give the viewers false hope. If your dubbing for fun then go ahead!
Any dub of the comic that has been published has my permission to still be up in public, I won't force anyone to take it down. But please don't use it for any profiting or income.
Now that's been settled, I'm planning on posting some concepts from the AU that I still have since I don't think I'll use some anymore and now that its ok to show now that I discontinued the comic xd

Sans
You'll probably first meet at Grillby's.
The usual patrons are there and in you come. Slinking.. Scheming...
The crystal glasses have been calling your name for a week now.
To your surprise, this is a day Grillby is out so a certain skeleton is behind the counter.
You sidle up to the bar and order some food, intent on getting Sans away from the glassware. Once he's gone you're in action.
With deft fingers, you are reaching over the counter and grabbing as many glasses as you think you can get away with.
Once your inventory is good and full, you settle back into your spot.
You don't realize you've been caught until an empty glass is put in front of you.
"you've been a little mousy you're whole life?"
"I like to think I'm pretty outgoing actually."
That gets a laugh out of the skeleton. "i'm afraid i'll need those glasses back."
You decide to hand him a pair of glasses you "borrowed" from a frog Monster you met in Waterfall.
This goes on all night. After a certain point, you decide to give up the ghost and hand the absurd number of glasses back over to Sans. He even promised to not rat you out to Grillby.
Papyrus
You were walking through Waterfall when you saw Papyrus walking along a lower level just under you.
He was carrying a comical stack of Tupperware containers full of something. It was simple curiosity! He wouldn't even miss it!
You succeeded at snatching a Tupperware and cracked it open. The acrid smell of pure evil is the only thing that graces your nostrils.
Deciding you have no desire to hold onto whatever science experiment the skeleton had made, you hopped down and chased after him.
You came up with a quick excuse that he dropped the item and you were just innocently returning it.
Papyrus' sockets shine as he drops the armload of "food". You get thanked so profusely you almost thought you did something honorable, not stole food.
You get questioned about your culinary inclinations while he picks all the containers back up. Many of them busted open when dropped, though the skeleton doesn't seem to care.
You didn't realize that you started following him while talking and after some time you arrived to his front door.
You tried to bid him farewell before you were all but begged to come in and cook with him. It is free entry into his house.
Who knows what goodies you might be able to snag.
Red
You've heard about the funny skeleton that sometimes performs at MTT resort and decided to check it out.
You were in the area, there was an interesting list of comics on the roster, and the audience looked like types to have a lot of interesting things on them. What reason did you have not to go?
Many of the performers were fine. A few of them were so dull you had no way to sneak about without being caught.
Red was the closer, and by then your pockets were starting to feel well and full.
You, of course, continued on your mission; stifling giggles and laughs as best you could.
Red's set was nearly over by the time you felt satisfied. Oddly enough, when you fully tuned back in you notice something strange. He was making a few too many rodent-themed jokes than one might expect.
It was only after the second or third time he glanced directly into your beady eyes that you realized he absolutely knew what you were doing.
You tried to slip out of the dining room unnoticed but a certain toothy grin at the front doors stopped you.
"got caught with your hand in the mouse trap there buddy"
You had very few options other than running or offering a bribe. you went with a bribe.
Red, surprisingly, accepts and even offers a little deal. You join up with him during his sets. He tells jokes so good no one will notice a certain mousey's fingers in their pockets. Split the loot after.
You didn't have many options to counteroffer, but even then you didn't particularly want to.
Edge
You were caught pocketing some cinnamon bunnies and got the guard called on you. Naturally, you were well practiced in avoiding the guard.
You tried to spend as little time as possible in Snowdin until everything cooled off some. What you didn't realize is that the up-and-coming royal guardsman was not one to give up so quickly.
Once you decided enough time had passed, you made your appearance back into the thrall of the small town. It was only after you picked up some whispers behind you that you realized you perhaps haven't been away as long as you should've been.
What ensued was chaos. Once you realized that yes, people definitely recognized you and had called for the guard, you were booking it out of there.
A few members of the dog pack put up a chase for a while, but none of them cared for petty theft. The only one who decided to pursue you into the forest for the better part of an hour was the new skeleton recruit, Edge.
The chase only ended after you both found yourselves stuck on a large frozen lake, unable to get your feet underneath you. After hitting an impasse, you try one last boon.
You offer to pay for everything you stole and then some. Edge didn't believe you were good for it, but you were no stranger to "borrowing" a good amount of G.
While slipping and sliding past each other, Edge pulled out a long itemized list of everything you have stolen. It took a good few minutes to read through your bill but you did manage to have enough money on you to pay the shopkeep back.
After that, you were watched like a hawk by Edge personally whenever he saw you out about town. It didn't take long to realize you could intentionally run him around if you stole something in his line of sight.
Blue
Blue was one of the only people who bothered to regularly set puzzles and traps that were more interesting than piles of snow.
That also meant you could get a bunch of neat junk if you went around to dig out the parts.
You became his shadow. He'd set up a puzzle, you'd slip in and take a few parts. It certainly didn't help that Blue was incredibly amusing to watch once he saw your handiwork.
He even tried to stake you out a few times, though it never worked.
There was only once that Blue caught you.
You were out somewhere else and he put his plan in action.
You came back to your usual spot to scope out how you were going to sneak past the puzzle part of the puzzle. You didn't even think that the course looked suspicious.
It was a switch-flipping style puzzle. Certain switches move different snow poffs and you had to pick the right combination to get through. Easy.
It was only as you solved the puzzle and the floor gave out under you that you realized you made a mistake.
You got pulled out of the snow that fell on top of you none other than Blue himself.
You weren't able to do much more than laugh and deny. Deny! DENY!
It didn't work of course, though Blue did ask to keep you around.
Something about making the puzzles so hard a human wouldn't even be able to pass them?
Stretch
Stretch was trying to do a simple run to the craft store to get some fabric. His brother wanted a new workout set and refused to just buy one.
You were also there. You were in the bead aisle hamfisting those suckers into your pockets. Stretch could only imagine would you have already stashed away in your inventory.
It was a slow day and he had time for a little prank.
Everywhere you went, the skeleton followed. Everything you put on your person, the skeleton subtly magicked right back out.
It took you a while to notice, but once you did the game changed. It became a combination of making sure you didn't catch him putting your ill-gotten gains back and not being caught himself.
This went on for a while.
You started to get smart. You tried to shake your mysterious pursuer by taking random turns and power-walking down each aisle as quick as you could.
After a time, you also realized your pockets never got heavier. You decided you absolutely had more time to waste and got to plotting.
You started picking up items you didn't even want. Scrap fabric and strange decor items were shoved places you thought you would know if they were tampered with.
It didn't work. The standoff, so to speak, lasted two hours and you didn't catch your shadower once.
You decided to give up. You grab a couple small items and go up to the store clerk to check out. It's the least you could do after being a terror in their store for the past few hours.
It's only after you are well on your way out the door do you feel something. Your bag got slightly heavier. You stop to dig around in it and notice a pack of pencils you didn't steal and definitely didn't buy.
As you look it over you notice it has a little note drawn on the package: "that was fun. quit trying to steal things. see you around."

• Inspiration Point •
Cash
Anyone with a working brain would know not to mess with the skeleton brothers. Most of all you would never want to gamble against the taller one.
You never took their advice. Cash was fine entertainment from afar, but at the table was where the real fun started.
You didn't do it often, but every once in a while you'd find your way to Grillby's Bar & Grill after hours. There was where you'd find the good loot.
With your pockets full and inventory fuller, you found a seat at the round table where the fire elemental was dealing the first round of poker.
You got your wares appraised earlier, so your starting chips were already piled high before you.
The real joy of the table was watching people lose. They almost always came with an air of unearned confidence that made the fall that much sweeter to watch.
They always lost and were always sore losers.
That night, there were only a few real players. Cash was there, like most nights. Dogaressa and Dogamy were there, though Dogamy was only good for moral support. A few of the bar's regulars were at the table as well. The rest of the seats were filled by desperate newbies.
As soon as the table was full, the game started. It continued as you expected. Most of the newbies were overconfident and lost all their G near immediately. Dogamy backed out. The regulars all slowly backed out after losing what little money they offered in the first place.
What was surprising was how long you made it. The only people left at the table were you, Cash, and Dogaressa. You weren't playing for money and you certainly weren't playing to win.
You just wanted some easy entertainment to watch some full adult Monsters throw a few tantrums. It's not like the money you brought to the table came from a personal fund.
It didn't take long before the sore losers all left, so your interest was waning.
It wasn't until you noticed Cash do a weird little hand motion that you recognized quite well. He was pocketing cards. If he's not above cheating why should you be?
In the end, Cash won the lot. You didn't expect to win, nor did you care to cheat enough so that you would've. If anything, that would've been suspicious.
You knew that Cash realized your play and that made the night all the more interesting. Once he knew you were cheating, it became a joint effort to do as much as possible without being fought by Grillby or Dogaressa and miraculously you both pulled it off.
Or, you both pulled it off long enough to get out the door snickering to each other, G in hand.

How did Ramona become your favorite ship and how did you become a hardcore Ramona shipper?
I guess it was just instinct. I knew I found something special when I came across RaMona and my love for it just grew as the years went on.
It all started when I was watching one of Black Nerd Comedy’s TMNT videos on YouTube. He was doing a ninja turtles Q&A and someone asked him if he would ever like to see Mona Lisa in the 2012 series. He agreed that Mona should return and called her “Raphael’s lady”.
Note: This was in March 2014, over a year before Mona Lisa was introduced in the 2012 show in November 2015
I was very new to TMNT at this time, with the 2012 series being my introduction, so I had very little knowledge of the franchise and other versions, but I was a sucker for romance side plots and my curiosity was peaked. So I did some digging on YouTube and found the 1987 episode “Raphael Meets His Match” and I watched it. This was my very first episode I ever watched of the 87 series and I fell in love with Mona Lisa and especially her relationship with Raph. I loved how well her personality clashed with Raph, snarky stubborn sass with even more snarky stubborn sass. I squealed when she called him a doll and kissed his cheek. Him assuring her that he thinks she’s beautiful warmed my heart and them reuniting by the end of the episode was so sweet. You can image my disappointment when I learned that was her ONLY episode and she never came back. So I relied on fanart and fan comics of her, hopefully waiting for the return of this ship.
For those who don’t know, back when the 2012 series was running there were A LOT of fans who would constantly email/DM the producers and writers of the show on social media, asking them to bring Mona Lisa into the 2012 series. I will admit I was one of those fans 😅 I never harassed them like other fans did, but I do remember commenting on their instagram post regarding the topic once or twice.
Also funny fact, apparently Sean Astin (2012 Raph’s voice actor) was also one of those people. He constantly kept on asking Branden and Ciro (the producers) when Raph was going to get a love interest, cause he saw every other turtle get a GF except Raph. Angry turtles need love too! XD
Fast forward to August 2015, San Diego Comic Con, at a TMNT 2012 panel, they announce that Mona Lisa will be coming to the series in the upcoming season 4 as a warrior from an alien planet. I fangirled so hard that night when I watched the panel on YouTube! I was squealing so loud and dancing around my bedroom! I was so happy I started to cry! My OTP was finally returning!
It was 2012 RaMona that sealed the deal for me. After watching their first episode “The Moons of Thalos 3”, I fell in love with them. Raph falling for her because she punched him in the face is both hilarious and adorable, and also (strangely) very in character for him. His “what a woman” line made me squeal in excitement. Their first kiss, I couldn’t help but cheer. I didn’t care about any other ship except for them. To actually see a happy healthy couple with little to no problems in this series was a breath of fresh air. I never cared for Apritello, Leor*i I was questioning (that’s a whole different can of worms I’m not getting into now), I didn’t care for Capril, and though I liked Renetangelo I wasn’t crazy for them. The more Mona appeared in the show the more my love for the ship grew. Them constantly flirting or making out in the middle of battle, how trusting they are of each other, how supportive they are of each other in combat, and even their biggest road bump with Lord Dregg they were able to over come, with the cherry of that episode being Mona confessing her love to Raph. Even when back on Earth, Raph still thinks about her, loves her and stays loyal to her. In truth, Mona made Raph a better man. Them reuniting in season 5 kinda leaves us with an open book because now we get to decide what happens with them now that they are on Earth together. I just know from the look they gave each other at the end of the episode as they held each other in their arms that they will be living happily ever after 🥰

We only ever see this ship in a hand full of episodes in the 2012 series, but it was enough to show me and the audience how happy and healthy this couple is compare to the other ships. I love them. I adore them. I want a relationship like theirs one day. I wanna find my Raph to my Mona. I want to continue to see this ship in other versions of TMNT in the future!
I will stand proud and say that I am the captain of the Raph x Mona Lisa ship! 🫡💞

Hello! Thanks for your ask (I don't know how to throw in your second one about it being Witchfell in one post. Computer is hard). I too cried during True Pacifist, and came across this witchy incarnation of Frisk and giant Sans through a comic dub. The artist was @lostmypotatoes and I will be eternally thankful that she drew it <3
As for what gender the characters are, I'mma be real for a minute: I'm nearly 40 years old, and when I first got on the Internet 20 years ago, the idea of asking someone their pronouns would have been bizarre and insulting--you were a guy or a girl, full stop. But nowadays, having made so many non-cisgender friends and heard their experiences, I aim to be the cringy oversupportive aunt who nods earnestly at whatever you tell me about your identity and does my best to understand it (unless it turns out you define yourself by hurting or degrading other people, in which case you can fuck right off).
To my knowledge and recollection, Frisk, Chara and Kris are canonically nonbinary, using "they/them" pronouns. I don't mind AUs or headcanons that assign them a gender--I obviously made my Frisk and Chara female, and used Kris as a male name. But if we're talking about the canon characters, they're nonbinary, so I try to stick to it. They're obviously not real people who can feel invalidated by incorrect pronouns, but in my experience, the way we talk about fake people is both a cause and effect of how we talk about real people. It's just a good habit in general.
(For the record, as an overall character, Kris gives me the creeps, which I think is what Toby Fox is going for. But I definitely see where they can give a chill impression, too.) Thanks again! :D

Rants!
Dante/Raiden: This ship comes from the 2006 Playstation Magazine (PSM) issue 110 endpage drawn by comic artist Adam Warren (most known for his comic Empowered) depicting the hypothetical timeline where the PSM swimsuit special is replaced with a 600 page erotic “Dante/Raiden slash fanfiction.” In this panel Dante’s DMC2 design is shown above Raiden’s MGS2 design (notably the most hated versions of these characters at the time, though considering Warren’s feelings towards Dante and Raiden, this pairing was most likely shown to baffle the reader with a well beloved charactered and a much hated character doing something “humiliating” aka. participating in homosexuality). Dante says “Why can’t I quit yew,” a reference to brokeback mountain, and Raiden says “Please be gentle… like snake”
Obviously this panel is meant to be a joke at the expense of both women who write fanfiction, and gay people, made more clear by the second appearance of “Raidante” in Warren’s work, in which Dante is reading yaoi fanfic and remarks “As if I’d settle for someone as lame as Raiden if I was gay!” However, likely because he has never played Metal Gear, Warren fails to consider the thematic implications of this pairing, considering the narratives of each character.
Dante is a demi-human, ashamed of his demon heritage but forced to reconcile with it. To cope with this, he adopts the persona of a “badass devil hunter with a devil may care attitude” as a form of escapism. Because he cannot accept his nature, nor can he come to terms with his past trauma of demons killing his close ones, he remains in stasis and cannot form deep connections with others.
Raiden is human by nature, but was robbed of his flesh by the patriots. Raised a child soldier, he is emotionally stunted and has very little personality to call his own, resorting to grasping at the persona of “Solid Snake” and tacking on his mannerisms to fill what gaps are left in his development. Even after starting a new after the big shell incident, he relapses again into the ego-less being he was at the age of 10, proclaiming himself a weapon and throwing himself at danger and death in the belief that it’s his purpose.
Both of these people are fundamentally unable to connect with others, breaking all of their connections and distancing themselves both out of fear of getting hurt and genuine inability to retain relationships. They use violence and self sacrifice as substitute for meaning in their life, and degrade themselves to that of a sword. Then, when meeting someone who they recognize all their behaviors in, what would happen? Do their own tactics of isolation work on themselves? Do they cancel out, or override each other?
Adam Warren is too much of a coward to explore this concept in a 600 page fanfic, so I will.
Atsushi/Yanagida: I know this is wild since they are both like nothing background characters but they’re so important to me. The essence of crackship/rarepair. I hc them as having dated because they’re both lgbt but they had a really bad break up so they hate each other’s guts now. Where am I getting this? From my brain. They’re basically like my OCs to me. the moonlights in this comic are the following: Playtrough: i changed her design, this is the lamb that went trough the decisions and options i made on my first time and current times playing the game, she is the first version of her, hence why she is both the oldest (200 years old going by how old my cult is in game) and wisest. She doesnt goes by moonlight, she goes by lamb, sheep, or just moon or black (her cult is called the black moon)
she has a constant tired face she is not aware off, the fings on her horns are from the two spouces that died during the playtrough, currently one was revived not too long ago because narinder asked me to do so and i completly forgot their name, i can post the comic i did of that if anyone wants, the flower crown comes from the first follower i had that i lost after i acended them because of old age
Red crown moonlight: as much as she may have the red crown as well as playtrough, they are still different, she is actually from an universe where she swaps places with lover and takes his role as the bearer of the red crown, unlike playtrough, red gained the crown as a child, and such. she is pretty much the same moonlight you all usually see that happens to be the main one, just that she doesnt sleeps (until getting lover back-) and has a bigger recentment and anger that she takes out in crusades, other than that, she is baby :] all of this started because i have the habit of thinking of them interacting in my head often, the reason playtrough calls the lil one red is because due to all of them having the same name, they decided to give each other nicknames surounding their theams and roles in their universes
this definently is influenced from back when i used to consume undertale content and i used to consume a lot of the sans from different aus interacting, i genuinly cant escape any of that pipipi 🧍‍♂️🏃‍♂️

I just wanted to how u were doing?
And how the next chapter of Wardtale was going (very excited for this chapter btw. Esp. given the sneak peeks we have gotten of it so far)?
(Honestly. Wardtale is just so great and interesting in general. Like; I love Sans being a former military general. Now newspaper delivery person, is that right? Idk, I just love that kind of past live(s) and/or multiple side stuff when it comes to Sans. Plus; I am suck for science stuff, military, spy, tactician, or assassin, etc. stuff for Sans. Think ur series, or the amazing Timetale. With one of the best Sans and Alphys and Sans and Alphys relationships I have ever seen. Or think The Golden Quiche series. Or TLD series, by the same person who did TGQ, and is a really great and unique DustTale take. So I love that for ur Sans. Alphys' and more cold (if I am remembering correctly) role in WT is very interesting too! And it is interesting that Sans hates her. I wonder what Alphys thinks and/or feels about Sans. Ur Frisk take and design is great too! Tbh; u are just so good at designs in general.
Also, I love the sprite game art style kind of thing that Wardtale has! It is so different and unique. And it gives me the vibes of sprite comics, which, I wish say more of, esp. ongoing and/or completed ones in the fandom(s). Though, the ones we have are great. But still different, and very developed. Anyways, I am very excited (though also sad, but also happy the series is going to be getting closure) for the next chapter and the last 2 (I think) chapters in the Wardtale. And I am very interested to hopefully still see ur take on Wardhorror. I love horror and/or horrortale takes. And I already love ur takes on Sans and Aliza for example.)
Or about the next part and/or chapter of The Ebott Books is going if u are working on that instead?
(Loving this so far too. I love ur sprite video series for Wardtale, but ur comics are so well done too! And it helps even more to give each series a really unique feel to it. Loving the kind of fairy tale elements, designs, and curses in this! It is all very interesting. Sans, Paps, Frisk's, and I think Asgore was in this and had a cool design, all look awesome and cool and cute and stuff.
Though, I won't lie, seeing Paps more mainly in blue, and Sans mainly more in a brown-ish color; even though they both look great, kind of threw me off. '^^ Because, I more connect blue to Sans. At least usually. Or like, they both have blue clothes and stuff; like in some Outertale versions. Like, The Ebott Books Paps is not the only blue Paps I have seen. There is also CP from Under/Source. But like, blue just works for me w/ CP (not that it doesn't ur Paps) and doesn't throw me off as much for some reason. Maybe because also, a couple of the main Sanses and characters are mainly purple and blue (so still one blue, and another cool color. Plus; I just like purple on Sans). So maybe that helps in me not getting as thrown off.

That post and art was really cool and interesting. I would have loved to see it in the series proper or maybe some kind of side video or something, because idk, I just find it cool and interesting. And exploring Sans, Paps, Gaster, and skelemom a bit more as a family sounds cool. And I like seeing people different takes on the skelebrothers family. But I get why u decided u can't. If u ever do post more and/or etc.; I will defin. be interested though.
Also, I know it is because you don't want to show the Mom (which, honestly, I wouldn't minded seeing ur take on Skelemom. I like seeing more takes on Sans' and/or Paps' parent(s), and we know more of that in the fandom(s) imo. Like, there is Timetale, Reminiscence, The Golden Quiche (and kinda The Lone Defender), etc. have good takes on the skeleparent(s). As a few examples), but the way u have ur part of the picture missing and/or ripped is quite ominous and mysterious.
If don't know or don't want to answer about how stuff is going with Wardtale or The Ebott Books and/or etc; I would totally understand and get it!

• (this makes me happy) Thank you for liking sans' relationships and him being a former general who gave up his life to be a newspaper delivery boy, I always liked watching documentaries and I did well at school when they were about revolutions and wars. Alphys doesn't hate but doesn't like Sans either, she supports him more because of Papyrus and Gaster (even though Gaster sees Sans as a soldier rather than a son and Papyrus for having fought with Sans but still cares a lot about him) The only common thing they have in common is that they think that humans should be left alone and that they don't transmit the virus to monsters, but they have totally opposite ways of solving this problem.
Sans is also jealous that Papyrus admires Alphys and listens to her more than Sans, after Sans arranged for Papyrus to join Asgore's army and try to place him in an important position.
• Yes, after Wardtale ends I want to do two ideas that popped into my head (which won't be canonical in the story) but after it's over I'm going to do some drawings of Au, either events that happened in the series or from each Monsters past.
• ebott books I left on hiatus because I want to focus on finishing wardtale and war fragment (an old sonic comic of mine with the main couple from infinite x gadget) on Wattpad since both are not long before they are finished.
• The idea was for Papyrus to be white or black, but it didn't work very well (because they are both inspired by wild wolves) so I thought about putting a gray color but it looked quite dead, then finally I decided to put a more bluish gray color since the Au's colors are shades of blue and white to represent ice (yes, I confess that it's not every day that there's a papyrus with blue that reminds me of a sans lol)
• I can even show more of the past two two (there's a part ready about this that I haven't posted yet) and also if I have space I'll put more of Alphys' past or at least mention about their and Alphys' childhood and more about the asriel and sans relationship
• At first I thought about Sans and Papyrus's mother being a parody or something funny like featuring Temmy or another character (maybe an NPC that no one knows the existence or importance of) but since Wardtale took a more serious path I thought about what she could be like or who she could be, so I thought the fans could interpret what her face would look like... BUT I WANTED TO MAKE A POINT OF DESIGNING THE DRESS BECAUSE I LOVE DESIGNING DRESSES.
No problem, I'm happy that you love the series a lot, I'm still doing Wardtale, but due to the accident that caused my cell phone to die and me losing a lot of things, it made me feel discouraged, but thanks to my girlfriend, my sister and some fans encouraging me to continue little by little I came back and I'm redoing some sprites that I had lost

Manhwa artist for James Patterson's Maximum Ride

To celebrate the first birthday of Yen Plus magazine, Yen Press invited Korean comics artist NaRae Lee as their special guest at San Diego Comic-Con 2009. Lee is the artist behind the graphic novel adaptation of James Patterson's bestselling Maximum Ride novels for young adults that is currently being serialized monthly in the pages of Yen Plus.
Discovered by Yen Press Senior Editor JuYoun Lee, NaRae was able to make her U.S. debut working on a series that already had legions of devoted fans. It's a lot to live up to, but NaRae proved to be up to the challenge by delivering artwork that looks remarkably polished for a relative newbie to the world of international manga publishing.
This visit to San Diego was NaRae's first visit to the United States, and unfortunately, the trip from Korea to Southern California wasn't an easy one for her. The effects of jet-lag took their toll on the petite yet hard-working artist, which forced Yen Press to cancel her first planned autograph session on Friday afternoon. NaRae did manage to make it to the convention center to meet her fans on Saturday afternoon, which is when I caught up with her to ask a few questions.
NaRae tends to draw herself as a pudgy, chibi character in her artist's notes in Yen Plus, but in reality, she's a slender, shy and soft-spoken young woman who seemed somewhat surprised to see the line of fans who came to meet her and get her autograph. Yen Press Senior Editor JuYoun Lee kindly translated our conversation.
Q: Welcome to San Diego Comic-Con. It's great to have you here.
NaRae Lee: I'm happy to be here too.
Q: Did you see anything in the Exhibit Hall that you thought was really exciting and cool?
NaRae Lee: I've been sick (since I got to San Diego from Korea), so this is actually the first time that I've been to the convention center.
Q: Ah, too bad. I hope you get to see more of it over the next two days. When you got the call to do Maximum Ride, had you heard of the books before?
NaRae Lee: I didn’t know about them at first.
Q: What were your impressions when you read the script? Did anything strike you in particular that made you think, 'Wow, I should work on this project?'
NaRae Lee: I liked the characters a lot. They each had their own distinctive characteristics and personalities, so that was the big appeal for me.
Q: Which is your favorite character to draw?
NaRae Lee: Character-wise, my favorite is Iggy, but when I'm drawing I enjoy drawing Max the most.
Q: Why is that?
NaRae Lee: The way I'm drawing the character is like a lot of my taste, so I likes how the eyes and the clothes she wears came out. I'm enjoying drawing her very much.
Q: I was really impressed when I first saw your art for Maximum Ride. It's very accomplished, very professional-looking, and it reads very nicely. Is this your first long series?
NaRae Lee: Thank you. Yes, it's my first major series.
Q: Has it been an adjustment creating a new chapter on a monthly schedule?
NaRae Lee: It’s been tough.
Q: Do you have time to do other things, like draw your own manga stories?
NaRae Lee: I also have my own story, a manga that is currently being published in a Korean anthology. That also has a monthly deadline. That one is fortunately only eight pages a month, but still, because I'm juggling the two deadlines I've been having a tough time.
Q: What is the title and what is it about?
NaRae Lee: It’s called Sweetie Milky Propose and it’s for younger girls. It’s like a comedy, also has a bit of a romance going on. It's about four fairies from Milkland coming into the human world to find their princess, who doesn’t know she is a princess. It's very funny.
Q: That sounds cute -- I hope to see it some time! So how did you and JuYoun (Lee, Senior Editor of Yen Press) find each other?
NaRae Lee: (turns to JuYoun) You would know better about that!
JuYoun Lee:Well, there is like an anthology that her school puts out. I saw her like short story there and I immediately liked her art style. I thought she would be perfect for Maximum Ride, so I contacted her.
Q: Ah wow, so straight from college. So how long have you been drawing manga?
NaRae Lee: I've been drawing since I was in like fourth or fifth grade in elementary school. I also went to an animation high school, not just college, so I've been drawing for a long time.
Q: So what is the curriculum like at an animation university? Is it like mostly animation classes or is it like animation and regular school subjects?
NaRae Lee: Well, the college I go to is a manga college and my high school specialized in animation. You can also major in manga at the animation high school as well.
Q: So now that you've devoted so much of your life to drawing, what do you think is your greatest strength as an artist and what is the hardest thing for you to do?
NaRae Lee: I can’t really pinpoint my strong point because I think I'm still a newbie. So maybe the fact that I have lots of possibilities in front of me might be my strongest point.
The toughest thing that I have to deal with as I draw Maximum Ride is that the story is set in the States and this is literally my first chance I've had to visit North America. Because I'm based in Korea, it's tough to find all the reference photos and trying to imagine like (the various locations described in the script) is going to look like. This has been the hardest thing.
Q: Have you met Mr. Patterson? Have you talked with him?
NaRae Lee: (shakes her head) Ah, no. Not yet.
Q: Ah, too bad. Maybe sometime on your next visit to the U.S. Okay, so I know your fans who are for your autograph session are eager to talk to you, but do you have a special message for the fans who couldn’t join you here today?
NaRae Lee: Thank you very much for reading the books.

As a fellow Dust Sans lover, I have to ask, what is your favorite thing about Dusttale? It can be from both canon and fanon. Also, lowkey wondering, what's the most recommended Dusttale AU you're making? Like if you had to suggest one to look at first, what would it be in your opinion?
I like canon dusttale more than fanon!
as in... phantom papyrus being a manifestation of sans's grief and not an actual ghost.
as in us the reader keeping the story going. us the player simply data mining a game or Speedruning genocide. that results in a time loop.
it's not that we're evil. we're just curious. it's not that HE'S evil. he's just putting his foot down and taking away that choice the human had over his fate.
greater good isn't what dust was after despite what most people think. he didn't want a happy ending. he didn't want ANY ending involving a being that could reset.
I think what he did is such a powerful move. he's saying screw you in the most sans way possible. if killing everyone has always been a game to us? he's in a lot of ways... a reminder of canon chara to me.
am executioner preventing from a megalomaniac high and drunk on it's power from avoiding the consequences.
what I love most about this au is that it WILL not allow you to do a pacifist ending anymore. you're LOCKED IN. you made your choice now deal with it.
-as for the first au of mine? I recommend checking out the closure ask box! there may not be many asks but I work hard over quality over quantity! it's the one with seraphim dust!
-my second favorite au is dustgrave but it's comic on pause for now. it's both a deltarune version of dusttale... and a dusttale version of deltarune with heavy themes of bad faith and false gods, cult-ish vibes, and has been on the works for quite a while!
-bad influence is FLUFF land. in a post dusttale world sans is wasting away until he finds something interesting. a little deer caught in headlights that seems to retain memories not from resets but directly from the other worlds the anomaly is interacting with. he takes her in to use her as a tool but then... gets attached.(if you like hurt/comfortable or just plain adorableness with a grim background I highly recommend this one!)
also I'm relatively new here so not many of my aus have that much content put into them and I'm kinda freestyling everything with no specific planning. sometimes Im in the mood for more edge, sometimes I draw sans tucking in Noelle in bed and reading her a bed time story because I'm feeling sweet!
so I apologize for the lack of content or consistency. I'll be happy to answer your questions about any au tho!

(semi-outdated) Ultraviolet!Sans Lore/Info + Some Art
I'm bored and I have some doodles to share so let's do this.

GENERAL FACTS:
Because Nightmare was such a bookworm, UV's a big fan of comics, especially superhero ones (Anti-Hero stories are his favorite)
Due to latching onto negative essence rather than a SOUL, UV's able to understand negative emotions better, and his have been greatly boosted, making him more easily angered
UV's a lot less energetic than most other Fresh variants but tries his best to have high energy, though he usually can't and is a little more serious than other variants
He HATES, I repeat, HATES modern slang (Like, Gen Alpha Skibidi Rizz type stuff) and he'd rather die than have to speak such slang
He commonly uses his fists to fight, but also makes use of his surroundings (EX: Fighting in a kitchen and throwing a chair at someone or using kitchen utensils as weapons)
He tries to teach people how to "treat themselves right" (Keep themselves safe and trying to mentally help them) through generic, cheesy methods you'd find in 90s safety videos or anti-bullying programs, which usually never go well. (This is obviously based off Fresh!Ink's C.A.R.E)
People like Killer and Nightmare are some of his most disliked, really anyone who's known for killing people without reason and/or bullying
Despite his semi-disliking towards violence and murder, he will resort to violence when necessary or if he's having a bad day. If he's real fed up with someone, he's not afraid to beat them up. However, killing is, as he sees it, "Too uncool to do, yo", so he usually refrains from doing any fatal damage unless it's a serious threat to him or his brother
Most people see him and go "Oh, it's that guy again" or scream "DANG IT BOSS, IT'S THAT ANNOYING GUY WHO KEEPS TRYING TO STOP US FROM MURDERING PEOPLE."
UV really likes energy/soft drinks and sodas, especially the very acidic ones that should have been banned from stores years ago
Yes, UV is aromantic.
AFFILIATIONS:
Dream Sans (While he dislikes literally every other version of the skeleton, the Dream that belonged to Nightmare, the body UV's parasite uses, is actually someone he kind of cares about. He blames the vessel for having such a bond that went on to become a part of his character, but continues to protect the guy out of instinct. Dream himself isn't too fond of his brother being used as a body for a parasite (I mean, when did he ever, am I right?) and didn't even realize what was going on at first, but he's too afraid to try and test UV, as he could probably overpower him easily if he so desired, so he just hangs out with him like he would his brother. Besides, he's close enough to the original Nightmare...Right?)
Nightmare Sans (Originally, UV meant to take over this guy, as he would have been a wonderful source of power (I mean, feeding of negativity and sorta being immortal? Who'd pass that up?). However, after latching onto Passive, he's begun to change his mindset. Sure, he still wants to someday snatch Nightmare's body and all that (Again, who'd pass that up?), but he's started to grow distasteful of the guy. He's absolutely sadistic and messes with his brother! Again, he blames his vessel's ideals and such bleeding into his, but he can't help but hate the guy just a smidge.)
Killer Sans (Nightmare's a pain, but UV absolutely HATES Killer. Not only is he working for Nightmare, but regardless of whenever Killer wants to or not, he's a pretty murderous guy who usually doesn't take UV seriously and/or tries to kill him.)
Shattered Dream (If these two were to meet, UV would HEAVILY dislike him. He'd stay away from them as much as possible, though if interaction's made, he'd simply taunt and annoy him to death in hopes he'd assume he's just a mindless, dumb Sans that isn't worth pestering. He'd also make sure he'd never find his Dream. If Shattered ever tries anything with his brother, he'd literally hunt them down as Ultraviolence.)
Fresh Sans (These two would be bros, though UV could never keep up with the more energetic colorful Fresh.)
Error Sans (UV's actually pretty chill with Error, though Error thinks he's just another abomination that wants to pester him. UV understands that balance needs to be kept in the Multiverse, and that destruction would be necessary, and he'd like to talk with the guy for once. However, Error never seems to stick around for long enough or tries to erase him.)
Among Us Blue (God forbid these two are in the same space, because UV would punt him into the Sun. For context, Among Us Blue's a joke character made by a friend basically poking fun at Blueberry Sans' existence. He speaks in Gen Alpha slang and is a general annoyance to everyone around him, which is two reasons as to why UV hates his guts.)
STORY:
BACKSTORY: A Fresh Parasite manages to enter Dreamtale searching for Corrupted Nightmare wanting to take over his body and basically become an all-powerful being. However, this goes awry when he ends up taking over Passive Nightmare instead. And so, Ultraviolet's brought into the world against its own will. Confused and kind of panicking, he was interrupted mid-freakout by Dream, who, at the time, didn't know what was actually going on and assumed Nightmare simply changed his outfit. Ultraviolet, deciding he wouldn't blow his cover so quickly and was still destined to find his actual target, decided to play along for now. As time went on, he'd begin to become a bit fond of Dream, and the two would usually be seen wandering the Multiverse doing their own things, UV serving as a protective brother to Dream.
IMPRISONMENT & BREAKOUT: Ultraviolet and his brother were eventually imprisoned by a more royal, maybe even stronger variant of Nightmare known as King Scorpius. UV was able to break out, but was beaten to near death after getting caught. His physical body was destroyed, and the parasite escaped through a vent duct. It ended up finding more imprisoned monsters, and, as luck would have it...One of them was just the Sans he was looking for. It was Corrupt Nightmare, who wasn't having much luck escaping. The parasite then latched onto him (not willingly) while Dream escaped themselves. Dream was nearly caught and potentially killed by the same people who "killed" UV, but before they could do anything...
...They were...let's say..."interrupted" and mercilessly beaten to death by a new presence emerging from the shadows.
The newly formed Ultraviolence, after lazily putting together a name (At this point, there was more to consider than a cool name, like not dying and breaking out of this place), then escaped with his brother, who by this point was unconscious. Dream woke back up in their base homeworld, only UV was nowhere to be seen. UV was, still in the form of Ultraviolence, elsewhere pondering whenever he should continue using this form as originally desired or find another Passive body to revert back to Ultraviolet. Despite his plans originally set on becoming an all powerful immortal being of negativity, he decided that wasn't very rad anymore and went with the latter idea, stealing the body of a nearby Passive Nightmare from another timeline. Though, as he did so, he wondered why there was an absence of a Dream Sans. Don't these guys usually have brothers? UV didn't think too much about this and returned back home to his brother, acting as if the whole "King Scorpius castle breakout giant neon octopus man" thing was simply a nightmare.
Speaking of, here's what their design looks like!

And now, here's some stuff about Ultraviolence!
He glows in the dark and is able to go invisible. The saturation/brightness/glow can be affected by physical and mental state (When he's real worked up or feeling sadistic he has high saturation, and when he's wounded badly or low on energy, he has a more desaturated, more dull look.)
Whenever invisible or not, he'll always leave a trail of cyan footprints behind him (They fade at a medium rate but are pretty helpful when it comes to spotting UV when invisible)
The tentacles UV has are mostly for display or boasting; he rarely uses them in favor of a pair of batons (Inspired by Daredevil)
Ultraviolet was pretty calm and collected with a short temper, but Ultraviolence is anything but. He's ruthless when it comes to getting his way and the hesitation to kill or harm's gone out the window. Though, he will make things entertaining while he's at it, cracking jokes and making light teases while snapping people's necks and breaking bones. In other words, he's very sadistic yet playful.
It's unclear whenever in this state Ultraviolence feels empathy towards Dream or not, as he makes sure to never be around him whenever in this form, doing this out of survival instinct because Dream's Nightmare's #1 weakness, though there could be other reasons as to why.
Blood is censored in the form of bright, neon colors (commonly pink cyan or lime). Nobody really knows how UV's able to do this, similar to how people don't know how Fresh's able to censor people's swearing
Speaking of swearing, UV usually has to censor himself whenever he's in this form, as his whole "very cautious about swearing" thing gets a bit twisted due to Corrupt Nightmare's influence.
ABILITIES:
Ultraviolet (Base):
Hands-on combat
Censorship (Swears are censored with %#*@&! rather than 90s slang and what not similar to how comics censor swearing)
No other abilities, such as having the base Sans abilities, are known to be possessed by UV
Ultraviolence (Corrupt):

Weapon Manifestation (Forming weapons such as batons, firearms, knives, etc)
(Probably) Same abilities as Nightmare Sans as well as Base UV
