did you watch #LoveIsland last week?
Tumblr media
You're kidding, right? You've never heard of a fandom? #lame... let's start there shall we?
Fandoms are passionate communities of fans of a particular media franchise or celebrity. A few more key terms we should be aware of are digital communities; which are online groups of people who share common interests or goals and Reality TV; which is a genre of television that documents unscripted real-life situations or competitions.
___________
Discussion of the reading: Deller, Ruth A, (2019) Extract:  'Chapter Six: Reality Television in an Age of Social Media'
Deller discusses the concept of ‘Liveness’ which helps the media emphasise its role as something that can unite society (or create a digital community, or fandom).
In terms of Twitter's involvement in this process, the broadcast's live nature is emphasised through hashtags displayed on the screen.
Presenters may also verbally encourage viewers to participate in the discussion. For example, live tweets are frequently promoted during shows, and live Q&A sessions are often offered immediately after broadcasts (Deller, 2019).
Andrejevic (2004) suggested that through the use of webcams and broadcasting, ‘we are increasingly exposed to innovative uses of digital media that allow us to make our own reality shows’ (p. 61).
In a modern 2023 example, we can see this through the rise in vlogging (video blogging) which creators like Emma Chamberlin have made particularly popular.
Finally, Dellar suggests that the future of reality TV will co-inside with the rise of social media. She suggests that reality TV stars and micro-celebrities (social media) are becoming one.
___________
As a reflection, I love the idea of fandoms. As Deller (2019) suggests it creates a sense of community and can "unite society". Personally, I am a big fan of Survivor AU and with the hashtag, I am able to stay up to date if I miss an episode or even just want to take in all the drama. They have definitely come a long way based on what we used to see in the early 2010's with Tumblr fandoms (Harry Potter, Doctor Who etc). So I say embrace it all!
Signing out, @mydigitalf00tprint

We’re doing the picture of Cas crying when he confessed to dean for mishapocalypse
Ok.
You have all the right to do whatever you want in your blog or with your icon.
I personally will not. Here are my reasons:
That image of him still painful to watch.
Why choose that image on the first place?
What is the real purpose of the Mishapocalypse?
Who decided to choose the first annoying image for the first Mishapocalypse?
Knowing now that THAT PARTICULAR IMAGE of Misha isn't liked by him because its from an specific painful experience/time for him. Why are people who declares to love him still using it?
Isn't it possible that even the idea of the Mishapocalypse was created from a Misha hater with the soul purpose of paint this, again, awful and bad memory image of him all over tumblr helped by herd thinking?
AND NOW INCIDENTALLY another awful image/still of him, charged with such a bad memories is demanded as herd movement to be used for this spontaneous New Mishapocalypse.
And now my unrequited analysis of this new still/image that the "masses" demand to be used for this Mishapocalypse.
Tumblr media
This particular still its a memory for all of us of how Castiel sacrificed himself for love, and we can also read that here Misha is looking for the last time to his beloved husband friend Jensen acting as Dean on screen. And knowingly that this will be the very last time they will do this together.
Its charged with emotion that could be interpretate as bad because the general feels for all that love we have for Castiel in the first place, and then Misha by extention. Also remains to be the very portrait of a wonderful Canonization of Destiel but still managing to be painfully homofobic for the way HE HAD TO GO AND NEVER RETURNED AGAIN after saying all of this things to Dean. *sights*
Now, if I were to understand the purpose of this "movement" called Mishapocalypse and as an eager fan of Mr. Collins I want to participate.
I will probably choose one of this two images:
Tumblr media
First I apologize for the quality, its 7am of January 1st and I refuse to leave the confort of my bed and cats all over me to capture a better quality image.
This one is from the same moment. It's one of my favorites because is showing Castiel at peace and happy to offer his life for a better cause.
He is not only sacrificing himself for love, he is choosing to die instead of the better soldier whom he knows will win the final battle.
Or yet another proposal I dare to make additional to the other two I already proposed.
Tumblr media
It's iconic and from a great moment /cause when tumblr not only banned our p0rn, but with their stupid guidelines tried to sensor the human body and all the art people create here that isn't necessarily erotica.
But, as I stated in the beginning of this long first of the year answer Ask (new resolutions of keeping the inbox updated) whatever YOU nonny or others decide to participate or join to do as a way of celebration for the existence of Misha Collins? (to be honest, I'm still fussy on the purpose of the Mishapocalypse)
It's your prerogative and you must do whatever you wish to express any warmth and fuzzy feelings you have for Dmitry.
Let me tell you what I will be doing on the next April's Mishapocalypse and I did yesterday when I was summoned to this impromptu Mishapocalypse.
I donated to THE TREVOR PROJECT
Tumblr media
As you can read here, for a lazy person like me that is at the moment blessed to be able to give some money, its a feel good sensation to read the effort I put in clicking and choosing to save this money to a whorty cause:
Tumblr media
Finally. And to be clear.
Whatever you nonny choose to do its ok by me, and whomever reads this, my first post of the year. This is not trying to be a lecture in how to interpret or do whatever you choose to perceive or understand THE MISHAPOCALYPSE REPRESENTS. But I need to say my piece about these "controversial images" we are choosing to celebrate this tumblr holiday?
I'm only sharing here what I AM choosing to do. Again, because I'm lazy and I could also help at this local animal help group that need kennels to be cleaned and dogs to be cared for, that eventually I will, I promise.
So if this post inspired you (because this is my main target, not just to flaunt how good of a person I am, because of Misha of course) to do the same and celebrate Misha's existence but can't afford to give money. There are plenty things to do for your fellow neighbors and if you have been playing attention to the Overlord, any small act of kindness can make a difference for ALL OF US.
In the end, we all are just his minions, following his evil plan, so if you never did any small act of kindness before, you can blame it on him and proudly say:
Misha made me do it 😁

Reader Resources
Tumblr media
Here at the Pond, we want to become your one-stop shop for SPN fanfiction! To that end, we have a Tag List that you can be added to, and we've developed a tagging system to help you find the kinds of stories you like to read. If you have any suggestions for other ways we can make the Pond more accessible to readers, please send us an ASK!!
The Pond Tag List
Want to get fics that you want to read sent directly to your inbox or activity page? Sign up to be added to our Pond Tag List!
We have four categories: Character Reader Inserts, RPF Reader Inserts, Pairing, and Genfic. Use the bottom labels to toggle through the three pages and find your preferred characters. Once you’ve done that, then you can send in an ask IN THE REQUIRED FORMAT listing what character you’d like to be tagged in. We’ll get it updated and let you know so you can make sure your preferences are correct.
The Required Format: Your URL, if you are over 18 or not, and a list of what you want to be tagged in, organized by tab and column. For example:
Hi! I want to be added to the Tag List, please! My name is Michelle, I’m over 18, and I want to be tagged in the following: CHARACTER READER INSERTS: Fluff, angst, smut, crack, orgies, OC/OFC, Dean, Sam, John, Castiel, Benny, and Gadreel. RPF READER INSERTS: none. PAIRINGS: Fluff, angst, smut, crack, all pairings. GENFIC: fluff, angst, crack, reader insert, non-reader insert, all characters. Thanks!
It's as easy as that!
Writers With Open Requests or Commissions List
Looking for a writer to bring your fantastic idea to life? Look no further! This list is updated by the writer's themselves, so will change as they add or remove their entries. Click here to see the list!
Fishing for Treasures - Celebrating Different Types of Writing!
Together with the @fanficocean, we are celebrating different types of writing each month! Click here to learn more about our monthly themes, how to participate, and find links to the archive of past fics we've reblogged.
Here is a list of the tags we use on stories we promote from our members:
#reader insert - Only stories where there is a Y/N character. This will mostly be stories with a pairing between a character/actor and the reader, but could include a 'pairing x reader' relationship (such as Destiel x reader or Wincest x reader), or even a story with no romantic pairing (a 'gen fic'). Scroll down for tags for specific character/actor x reader pairings.
#RPF - Real People Fiction stories about the actors from Supernatural.
#no pairing - Stories where there is no romantic pairing.
Genre tags - These tags can be used alone or in a combination on any given story. For example, if a story has elements of both fluff and smut, then both tags will be used.
#fluff fic
#angst fic
#smut fic
#crack fic
Story length tags - These tags will help you find stories that are either short and quick or have multiple chapters.
#one shot
#series
Character/actor tags - These tags will be used for stories where the character/actor is part of a reader insert pairing or the central character in a story without a romantic pairing. This will not include romantic ship pairings, as they have their own tags.
#dean winchester
#sam winchester
#castiel
#jensen ackles
#jared padalecki
#misha collins
Other characters and actors not listed here will be treated the same way. This means you can type into the URL of your browser "spnfanficpond.tumblr.com/tagged/character%20name" and you will find any stories we have for that character.
Character/actor x reader tags - These stories will feature the character/actor in a romantic relationship with a reader insert character. These tags may also be used if the pairing is a threesome, especially if there is not a popular ship name for the two characters. For example, a Destiel x reader story will probably not have a Dean x reader tag, but a story with Dean x Ash x reader probably will.
#dean x reader
#sam x reader
#castiel x reader, #cas x reader
#jensen x reader
#jared x reader
#misha x reader
Other characters and actors not listed here will be treated the same way. This means you can type into the URL of your browser "spnfanficpond.tumblr.com/tagged/character-x-reader" and you will find any stories we have for that character x reader pairing.
Ship pairing tags - Whenever possible, we will try to use a ship name when tagging romantic ship pairings. If there are multiple ship names, we can not promise that we will use the same name you are looking for, but we will probably use character pairing tags. For example, Sam x Rowena could be tagged as Samwena or Samwitch, but will definitely be tagged Sam x Rowena and/or Rowena x Sam.
#destiel
#destiel x reader
#wincest
#wincest x reader
#j2
#j2 x reader
#cockles
#cockles x reader
Other pairings not listed here will be treated the same way. This means you can type into the URL of your browser "spnfanficpond.tumblr.com/tagged/ship" or "spnfanficpond.tumblr.com/tagged/ship%20x%20reader" and you will find any stories we have for that ship or ship x reader pairing.
If there are any other tags you would like to see us implement to make finding the stories you want to read easier, simply send us an ASK and let us know!

- Jared tweeted this about Angelina jolie “I guess Angie has put on some lb’s. It was hard for me to count all of her ribs thru her dress.” I mean she has been suffering from anorexia !
- Jared doxxed an employee at live nation
- he doxxed an employee at American airs
- this is the video of him bribing the cops after assaulting his employee : https://youtu.be/EvFkbH-5va4
- he tweeted from Misha’s twitter account that he’s pro torture
- he called Kim’s vogue edition “ expensive smut “
- this was the statement of restaurant he doxxed : This is the problem with Social Media. This "movie star" was in B-
restaurant in MN. I am not sure of all the details other then I just got a
very, very upset call from her that this person has put her on his Facebook
page, slandering her. Yes, he was at her restaurant, and yes BE
Ican
be outspoken but she is NOT a mean person, and would help anybody.
Obviously this person has a large following and of course everyone is
jumping on the band wagon without even knowing the whole story here or
what took place between the two of them. She even tried to talk to him in
private to clear up any possible misunderstandings. She has never had
anything like this happen to her, and is very well liked by all her peers and
fellow coworkers and this person has the potential to ruin her life in one
sweep. She does not even have a twitter account nor does she evern
understand it. she is rarely even on her FB page (which she has taken
down). But someone is claiming she said mean things to this person via
Twitter. When he came into her restaurant she didn't even know who he
was, maybe he is pissed because of that. Either way, this is very, very
upsetting and another good example of how social media can really cause
a shit storm. She has no recourse as she does not have millions of
followers and now Lawyers etc. from her work have to get involved. I
seriously can't believe it.
the same anon who sent you Jared’s fuck ups
When a fan called Jared out on doxxing this was his reply : Thank you for iuing your opinions and your concern. You are, of course, entitled to both. As far as last night goes, I didn't receive "poor service". I didn't have mustard instead of mayonnaise on my burger, and she didn't give me too many or too few cubes of ice in my drink. The picture of her playing on her phone was the NICEST thing she did during the course of the evening....… No. I was subjected to a mean, spiteful human being. Period. She was mean. She was a bully. She, specifically, did several things that hurt mine (and our) feelings. She made me feel singled out and not welcome and "less than" (maybe you've been in the same situation before?). She ruined my night (if not my trip) in Minnesota. Furthermore, I'm not incredibly happy to have you express that you believe I'm not entitled to share my concerns or unhappiness because I'm a "celebrity". That's akin to the people who told me that I should be "happy" because I'm "successful", and that I shouldn't have "depression" or "anxiety" because "famous people" are so "lucky". And I very much don't appreciate being victim shamed, even though I'm "famous" and should just "deal with it and keep quiet about it. At the end of the day, I am a human being that breathes oxygen. The same as you. And, sometimes, there are people who hurt my feelings intensely and I want to reach out to my social media family to express my hurt and let y'all know that I, too, sometimes run into mean people who aim to ruin my day. As far as "keeping future grievances" more private? Simply put, no. I will not let you silence or censor me and my feelings the same way those in the past have tried to silence or censor or ignore or belittle my feelings. I've worked too hard for too long on myself to be told to take negativity that's sent my way, and shut up about it, just because I'm a "celebrity". I'm truly sorry that the existence of my hurt disappointed you, and I wish you peace and happiness. With love, jp. This was Jared’s reply to a harmless joke about Jared being Jared’s biggest fan : hey kayla, that hurts me. i have struggled with doubt and depression, no matter my position, and to read something like that makes me want to tell you, honestly, that this is for my friends and the fans, if you can't understand, then i am truly happy for you. But don't you ever try to imply that i am here for myself, how dare you. Please leave my Facebook and twitter pages. You are poison.
the same anon ,
This is his reply to a teen fan who just joked about don’t talk about dean : I saw it. It's hurtful.…. I wish you nothing but the best in your life. I wish you peace. I hope that the phenomenal folks that support me don't cause you any more strife and pain than you're already going through. You will be whoever you want to be.
sorry if this got too long and its okay if you want to ignore this .
Whew! So I apologize for taking a while to respond, I had read these messages the other day and just got so annoyed at Jared and his behavior so I needed to take a break lol. I combined your asks and changed the format just a little bit to shorten the post!
First of all; fuck Jared. I just needed to get that out before I go on. I also want to apologize ahead of time because this is going to get long. I’m actually going to put this under a read more because it’s gonna get wild.
What he said about Angelina Jolie is disgusting. AKF amirite? Even if she wasn’t struggling with anorexia (I don’t know enough about her to know if that is true or if it was just something being said about her) he has NO RIGHT to be commenting on other people’s bodies. In the case that she did have anorexia, fuck him for cherry picking who he thinks should be exempt from his bullshit comments when it comes to mental health.
That statement from the restaurant Jared doxxed was heartbreaking. Obviously we don’t know what happened that night, but there is NO EXCUSE to dox someone because you’re throwing a fit and didn’t get the treatment you feel so entitled to. This woman tried to meet with Jared and clear things up and he still went on with blasting her on social media and causing her emotional distress and to take her accounts down because of the harassment he incited. He doesn’t see service workers as people, he sees them as servants and if they dare to put a toe out of line, it’s open season on them. We don’t know the situations, but I think it’s safe to assume Jared isn’t the most reasonable person to deal with I mean we’ve seen his tantrums and his behaviors.
But as we can see, Jared can dish it out just fine but he can’t take it. That brings me to the Twitter essays.
Poor wittle Jared had some bad service. Poor Jared wasn’t waited on hand and foot. Poor Jared was forced to go to Twitter and blast someone to his rabid stans because he was obviously incapable of talking to management instead. Poor Jared was shown some karma and got given some treatment that he’s dished out to plenty of people. Poor Jared had his trip ruined and then had his whole night ruined by someone calling him out on his bullshit behavior. Woe is he!
Literally no one told him he couldn’t be upset and shouldn’t be shown the same courtesy as other customers. But he has ZERO right to put people in danger by blasting them to his stans that he is very aware, will cause problems on his behalf. He’s really quick to change his tune on mental health though! Angelina Jolie is subject to ridicule, and PSH? Cowardly! But poor Jared is fighting for his right to have anxiety and depression when it’s convenient for him! Fuck him for using that as a crutch against rightful criticism. He’s making stigma worse.
Don’t censor poor Jared! He should be able to dox people all he wants because he’s just a human! Poor Jared is entitled to be a total shit bag and put people at risk when he’s mad!
He is really good at treating people like shit just to turn around and attack people for calling him out or making jokes. It’s okay when he makes tasteless, disgusting jokes, but when someone makes a harmless joke? Poison! And once again, using his mental illness as an excuse! What an advocate!
He’s such a raging hypocrite and reading all of this made me pissed off. There are people who defend his behavior even while watching him flip-flop back and forth, contradict himself, further harmful stigmas about mental health, and act like a jackass to people.
So again, fuck Jared.

this might be a weird thought but the way jensen performs masculinity (and i KNOW it’s a performance cause like, have you SEEN the mockumentary?) is just.... so inherently queer to me lmao
ok. okokokokokok. you asked for this. i have a LOT of thoughts on this. it’s gonna be under a cut because i’m gonna be annoying and psychoanalyse a celebrity i’ve never met(and hope i never do) but trust and believe when i tell you i know what i’m talking about so
Tumblr media
you want my opinion? here goes. there is absolutely no way jensen ackles is straight. i hear you, ‘how do you know that he’s bi? that’s invasive and creepy’ but may i counter that point by saying how do you know he’s straight???? why is the default for everyone heterosexual? that’s a toxic mentality to have; ‘oh you don’t know for sure so just treat him like he’s 100% straight just in case’ like....what? heteronormativity drives me wild i’m sorry
and also, um, just to, um, prove my point that this man is decidedly not straight™(i really don’t want to do this but like it has to be said) we KNOW he’s not straight because his d*ck has spoken for itself around misha, like, four times. I HATE SAYING IT!!!!!!! but, um, straight men don’t get aroused by men. ...do i really need to explain myself further???? that’s what i thought(and don’t give me the ‘it could have been for unrelated reasons’ or ‘that wasn’t a boner!’ crap because um good lord yes it was and misha caused every single one so no it wasn’t a coincidence i’m gonna move on before i collapse into myself like a dying star)
anyway, on to the topic at hand which is jensen and his performative masculinity. and it’s a juicy one.
after the unconscious amount of hours i’ve put into watching and subconsciously judging jackles, i have come to the conclusion that like, 90% of how he presents himself and talks and even moves is an act. it’s a facade. it’s a shield. he is not that person. it actually seems exhausting, because he tries to compose himself in this macho, manly, confident and effortlessly cool way, but he’s not that person he desperately wishes he was and wants to be perceived as. he’s on guard every second, even the slightest tilt of his head is like, pre-meditated in some way? if i’m going FULL body language analyst mode, i’ve noticed he has a certain posture he always shifts himself into, and it’s very ‘pursed lips, stoic faced, gruff voiced, square-shoulder, broad and manly’ but, not to be rude jensen, it kind of reads as a little kid imitating the adults he thinks are cool? oof i am going IN huh(it’s out of love though i promise)
he is trying to be this person at every second:
Tumblr media
because that’s who he wishes he was, because that’s how he gets validation from the people around him that he looks up to; straight white guys. but to me, who he presents himself to be at conventions is just as much of a performance as this whole eye of the tiger bit is.
oh i should mention i know his body language isn’t naturally like that because how he naturally carries himself is actually pretty flamboyant? like he seriously must be toning himself down HARD
examples:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
there’s no tension in his body here as opposed to the eye of the tiger gif. i’d describe it as...generally loose and free? he’s at ease when he moves like that and you can see it.
oh and dude!!! DUDE!!!! how could i not mention the fucking SPECTACLE that is his voice??? jensen. i watched season one. i know where your voice naturally sits. THAT IS NOT WHAT YOU SOUND LIKE. and there have been so many accounts of fans visiting jensen in his trailer and being surprised that his real voice is two octaves higher. again, his performance of masculinity is all encompassing. he can’t even talk normally because, in his mind, that’s a chink in his armour.
and, like you said, anon, this whole smokes-and-mirrors gong show of ‘i am the cool texan man’ is inherently queer. who are you trying to impress??? guys??? that’s pretty gay dude.(btw: gay[honorary])
i feel like i’ve already read this man for filth but i have to keep going bc i have so much to say
ok next thing i’m gonna talk about is how jensen says one thing but everything else about him tells us the exact opposite. another HUGE element of performative masculinity, ONE THAT DEAN WINCHESTER IS A MASTER OF. have i mentioned how dean and jensen are like mirrors of each other when it comes to their sexuality and queer identity??? because it is fascinating how everything i say about jensen also directly applies to dean.
allow me to introduce the grumpy face™. as in, the face he glues on when he’s enjoying doing something but doesn’t want to let anyone know it. and it’s ALWAYS when he’s doing something that could be seen as unmanly in any way. (and when i say manly i mean the ‘ideal’ version of manhood that doesn’t really exist but that jensen seems to be striving for[and dean too])
prime example is this video he did with daneel. the grumpy face™ doesn’t budge the whole time as he’s like,,,,playing an instrument and acting like he doesn’t want to bc i guess that’s too girly??? but i also find this video fascinating because the joke IN it is kind of that they’re both poking fun at him for being so insecure about playing a freaking flute. because, i mean, he gets into it, but he wants you to think he is not.
also this picture.
Tumblr media
what is this. i hate them. jensen is smushing himself into misha’s forehead but noooo his face is telling us ‘i hate this’ because CLEARLY he does. also misha’s so happy ew gross
he does that face in photo ops with misha ALL THE TIME but how many times has he also literally asked the con goers if he can also have those photos on his phone too? because of course he actually loves touching misha and is actually a sentimental fool but he tries so hard to hide it and fails so spectacularly.
oh and this. and of COURSE this. actually let’s talk about the hitch kiss for a hot minute because it’s a perfect example of exactly what i’m talking about
(he is so transparent guys. he tries so hard but he’s so obvious.)
1. misha was never supposed to be onstage with him. so it’s a boldface LIE and OBVIOUS PLOY TO GET MISHA TO KISS HIM when he says ‘they’d like us to make out now’. but of course the way he says it is ‘oh my god can you believe what these crazy panel people are making us do haha but i mean what they say goes amirite’. same energy as ‘oh my god did you just dare us to kiss rn???’ ‘....no i didn’t’ ‘oh my god i can’t believe you’d ask that haha but i can’t say no to a dare lol’ it’s the SAME THING
2. the fact that he was in the worst mood before misha came onstage and FAKE KISSING HIM made him feel...SO?? much better? like not just a little better a lot better like, again, that says a lot, because if they weren’t dating he would not be in a better mood if misha kissed his cheek unprompted. bc that cheek kiss wasn’t a joke it was a genuine sign of affection and AHHHH
3. after the kiss happens. you know, the one that jensen actively leans into and is smiling like an idiot the whole time through and is quite clearly having the time of his life during....he says ‘well, that was uncomfortable’. .......my guy. um. i don’t know how to tell you that i do in fact have eyes and you are NOT pulling the fast one you think you are
like i’m so sorry jensen but i have you pegged. it’s literally no use.
god there’s so many instances of him doing this with misha specifically. the whole ‘ew gross lol’ but then everything about him tells us the exact opposite. like this(i hate this. how dare he say ‘he has though, hasn’t he?’ LIKE THAT?????)
so yeah my point with that is he really wants us to think he is one thing when he is the antithesis of what he’s trying to be. he really likes those things that he talks down about, and everything he’s loudly projecting is all to hide how he really feels. he went to a gay bar with daneel, for crying out loud. he wants to play a role in drag. he’s queer and he likes it. pov: you’re jensen ackles train of thought: ‘ok so i really like this thing that people might make fun of me for or call me gay for liking so if i just say ‘lol as if’ and make a grossed-out face they will be FOOLED. i am a genius. hey misha wanna blow on my ear lol i meAN GROSS EW’
i have two more things i want to talk about when it comes to this topic so PLEASE bear with me anon this is why you took so long to answer clearly lmao
ok so we’re now going to go over my favorite hot take of all time. which is ‘how do we know dean’s performing masculinity? because sam isn’t.’ only replace dean with jensen and sam with jared and oh my god do we ever have a case
jared is as STRAIGHT as they come. he is secure in that knowledge. and that’s why he is perfectly comfortable treating misha like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and not try to scream ‘i am not enjoying doing this!!!!!!’ at us. because he doesn’t care what we think of his sexuality like jensen does(because he has nothing to hide whereas jensen DOES)
something i found the other day that no one has brought up but i SCREAMED upon finding it is this one clip THAT I CAN’T FIND OH GOD but i promise i’m not making it up. i can’t believe i can’t find it guys it is gold. i need need NEED to talk about it. and if anyone knows what i’m referencing and can apply links in any way i will love you forever but here’s what happens off the top of my head:
ok so i’m a bit too braindead to explain it perfectly but um basically it’s a j2 panel and someone brings up magic mike and i think jared says ‘yeah i didn’t watch it’ and then jensen says ‘all the way through’. stupid joke. whatever. the joke is that jared is gay for watching magic mike.
and then i literally kid you not. jared gets this like ‘jesus christ ok dude? lol’ look on his face and then goes ‘projecting much, mr. ackles?’ and jensen gets a guilty look on his face and walks away. and jared did not say it as a joke. he was being dead pan and earnest. and jensen knew it too, he knew he was projecting. i wish i could show you guys the clip i promise if i ever find it i’ll link it but IS THAT NOT SO DAMNING FOR JENSEN????? like come ON. also proves my point that when you compare how they feel about watching magic mike. jared doesn’t care bc watching it just doesn’t interest him, but he also thinks that just watching it in itself doesn’t make you gay. jensen however.......has a different mindset, clearly.
‘projecting much, mr. ackles?’ is actually a great title for my next and FINAL section(we’re almost there folks) which is how jensen projects his insecurites about his own sexuality and relationship with misha onto misha.
i hope by now we’ve all seen this video of jensen impersonating cas. it is a blatant microaggression on his part. and like obviously homophobic. it’s like in his mind if he makes fun of them for being gay it makes them both less gay somehow??? it’s self-deprecation in a way??? let’s just tell it like it is: that impression was just jensen’s overt internalized homophobia rearing it’s ugly head. he does it a LOT too when it comes to misha.
i mean:
Tumblr media
and that whole mess where he’s making fun of misha for being a bottom in their panel in 2016? ‘so you’re saying, like with football terms, there’s a handler and there’s a receiver heheheehe’ jensen you’re not exempt from being gay just because you know football terms lmao
oh and his OTHER impression of misha where he mocks him for...bicycling...because it’s not a manly enough sport??? jensen NO ONE else has ever thought this hard in their lives about what constitutes as masculine enough to be a sport before. that’s all you bud. we don’t find those jokes nearly as funny as you do. you are reaching, sir
the good news is that misha thinks it’s hilarious and knows it’s projecting on jensen’s part and will tease him endlessly for it. many stories come to mind, like that one photo op story where they’re literally dressed in rainbow banners and pride stickers but when misha goes to hold his hand jensen said something like ‘no way’ and then misha stepped back, put his hands on his hips and went ‘that’s the part that’s too gay for you???’ and jensen LOST it
or when that whole underwear thing happened(messy messY MESSY BTW) and then a fan asked a question about what dean and cas would do in rome and misha just said ‘when in rome’ and jensen makes a face like ‘are you serious’ and then misha says ‘you can’t look at me like that anymore, because of what you did!!!!!!’
OH and that whole story about when misha suggested they put jensen in the closet for that cat video....yeah um
and then when jensen was asked to do bisexual finger guns for a photo op and the con goer said ‘he looks bisexual here’ and misha literally said ‘oh he definitely looks bisexual here. i would say he’s actually closer to the gay side of the spectrum’ so..um...make with that as you will
OH MY GOD i’m finally done. wow. WOW. that was a lot. i hope i’ve blown your minds. ty anon i really wanted to talk about this and i hope you’re happy with the outcome!!!!!!

Celebrities’ sexualities/relationships, and what not to post where
I’m going to make an all-purpose, general post about this topic, because it seems like there’s value in making one. Anyone who’s been following me here or on Twitter long enough has seen me address this before but often in specific scenarios, but y’know what... let me just make a general all-purpose post too just to lay this out for the sake of my own sanity.
We all know this is a thing: people like to speculate on celebrities’ sexualities and/or participate in “real person fiction” (RPF), and that’s been happening since the dawn of fandom. On some level, I understand why; it's exciting to think a celebrity might be queer especially if YOU are. We all want role models & we all want that to be normalized, etc... and sometimes it’s a case of “like recognizes like”; queer people can spot other queer people. But whether or not one is “correct” doesn’t matter, and either way, celebrities' lives are not for our consumption. They do not exist for our entertainment or speculation. This kind of talk can get out of hand very quickly in a way that ruins the lives of real people.
So I am here to remind people to be mindful of what you say about celebrities, where you say it, and HOW you say it too.
For example: under no circumstances should you openly post things about celebrities’ sexuality or relationships on Twitter.
If you know this already, cool! Great! Good! Keep scrolling! But not everyone does know this, and either way, it’s always a good reminder–especially because people can get excited in the heat of a moment and these principles can easily accidentally fly out of the window.
Not all social media is “equal” or carries the same weight of potential real world consequence. Tumblr, for example, tends to influence little outside of here as long as the topic in question stays on Tumblr; AO3 fic stays on AO3, or at least it should. But Instagram comments or tweets do not exist in a vacuum or echo chamber the way people often seem to think, and often route back to the celebrities in question in harmful ways. Those platforms are open to the wider world in a way that can translate to very real consequence for the people being discussed.
What do I mean by that? A good example of how things can get unintended attention is what happened recently when memes about Misha Collins and Bill Clinton got out of hand, made their way to Twitter, and resulted in journalists writing articles that Misha felt he needed to address. On a more related note, recently Brie Larson made one offhand gay joke/reference in a personal Youtube video; it then trended worldwide and resulted in many articles too. There is now, unfortunately, high potential that she could be asked about and pressured about her sexuality in interviews in future. Did any of the people tweeting about those topics expect that to happen? Probably not, and yet it did. But these are good examples of how Twitter algorithms have vastly shifted, and keyword use is enough for things to easily and quickly trend outside of fandom’s intentions or control in ways that cause harm.
Putting any celebrities’ personal lives under a microscope, whether unintentionally or otherwise, is never a good idea. But it’s especially not a good idea when it comes to sexualities or personal relationships.
People will say “Shipping is just in the fandom! We know how to behave! What’s the problem? It’s never gone wrong before.” The problem is multilayered, but here are the main issues: the fact that nothing “bad” has happened before does not mean it never will. You can control your behavior, but you cannot control how other people–especially people who are new to your fandom–may or may not behave on the wider internet surrounding the topic of people's personal lives. Posting about it on main on somewhere like Twitter also inherently runs the risk of other outside parties seeing it, being like “what’s all this then?” and then picking it up and running with it further–whether that be ~haters~ or journalists.
People will also say “These celebrities know about this kind of fandom talk and they don’t care!” or “If the celebrities wanted us to stop this, they’d have said something by now!” To that I say: those are a lot of assumptions, when the only “assumption” one should realistically make is that we don’t know celebrities personally, we don’t know if they may or may not be actually closeted/unlabeled (which is their right!), and we don’t know what may make them uncomfortable while other things may not. The absence of "no" or "stop" isn't equivalent to "yes," nor is it citable as defense for questionable or potentially harmful behavior. Silence isn't blanket approval or consent, nor should it be assumed to be in any situation. Just because celebrities haven’t said in so many words “Please stop doing [this specific thing]” doesn’t mean they are automatically cool with whatever a fandom is doing, such as speculating about them or openly pointing out what they think they know about their sexualities or relationships. This includes posts on the wider timeline, or tweets and Instagram comments @ celebrities themselves filled with references or assumptions about their lives that are very not okay.
Even with something like Brie Larson’s situation... A celebrity making a joke or acting a certain way in one environment where they may feel comfortable or more relaxed–like a Youtube video, or a convention with fans, or anything else–does not mean that that celebrity expects or wants worldwide eyes on their behavior. And worldwide attention is what is always at risk on platforms like Twitter or Instagram.
Ultimately, overanalyzing and calling attention to people’s actions is how people who are allies can be made to feel awkward, or how people who are queer get outed or forced into labels. I literally live in fear of the day when some random journalist starts poking around specific fandoms/celebrities, connects the dots that are out there and are seemingly easy to connect, and then somehow makes their sexuality a topic of interviews. Once it becomes a Topic, it becomes nearly unavoidable for them. That’s what happened to Lee Pace; it’s how many people are forced to come out. At all times, queer celebrities are a stone’s throw away from having to deal with all of that in ways no one should, especially as they get more famous. If you care about any celebrity you like to talk about, or if you care about the privacy of real people at all in the ways you should (especially potentially queer people), this should be a point of concern for you.
So, in conclusion: be mindful. If you must talk about celebrities’ lives on something like Twitter, do it without using their actual names to avoid keywords, because they trend at the drop of a hat out of nowhere and that can ruin lives. Avoid deliberate repetition in your phrases because that’s how accidental trends are made. And, better yet, honestly? Consider just keeping that kind of talk to Tumblr/AO3, and preferably to personal private messages.
Your ability to fangirl/squee/celebrate a real person’s life is not more important than their right to privacy. Ever. This is not a petty topic and it is not “fandom policing” to say things like this out of concern. Acting from an abundance of caution is always the better way to go, because you lose nothing by being extra vigilant; the alternative of not being cautious enough comes with a high risk of negative consequence.
If we all just operate under the knowledge that talking about real people can translate to real consequences for real lives, and act with an abundance of respect/caution accordingly, then there will be nothing to worry about. And celebrities will get to live their private lives and (if this is applicable) be the authors of their own coming out journeys as they see fit, which is a right everyone should have.
From the bottom of my heart: just use both your empathy and your brain cells, please.

So all of Jensen's interactions with Misha were public relations? His birthday message in 2008 And anniversary photo does that include it?
"He doesn't have any business partnership with Misha as we know of. He does not do ships and fandom games so he doesn't feel the need ro rile us up in SM. So PR game with Misha as we know of it ended when the show ended."
You should ask the original OP who posted that, the full post is here.
I also received a similar anon (I guess it's form the same copy-paste anon...)
Tumblr media
Anyway, I'll answer this.
When people say it's PR, they are not saying it isn't genuine. Jensen wishes Dee happy birthday in SM, but it's obvious he has already told her in private, and if they are lucky enough to be together that day, they probably have a romantic dinner or sort of.
So, why does he also post it in SM? Because that's for the fans and the general public. Imagine if Jensen didn't post anything on Dee's birthday... people would start rumors about their marriage falling out (as J2 shippers do from time to time lol).
Something similar but not as extreme applies to Jensen's coworkers (Steve Carlson, Misha, Jared, other spn cast...). I'm sure he congratulates in private or in person (idk if this still applies to Jared after the confirmation of the J2 fallout), but he also posted in SM to show everybody's fine at the show, spn family and so on. This could be the example of the first link:
Tumblr media
It's very cute, but also very aseptic and neutral. It's just "generic insta post"TM, not very different from the posts Jensen usually makes about Jared or other members of the cast.
And now, have a look at the second link:
Tumblr media
First of all, what the fuck does this mean?? This post is not generic or aseptic or neutral at all. 10 years? 10 years of what? Is it the 10 years challenge? Is it the 10 years of their friendship? Is it the 10 years of a romantic relationship? It's confusing and ambiguous, because it totally looks like a couple celebrating their anniversary.
Why posting that? It can't be PR, because as I said, it sends an ambiguous and confusing message to the audience. More so if we know Jensen attitude to Destiel. I won't elaborate whether Jensen supports destiel or not (apparently he didn't but with time he became more open to the idea, afaik), but anyway, if we buy that Jensen doesn't ship destiel, then why does he post a picture with such a strong homosexual innuendo? Not to mention this is not about Cas and Dean, but about Misha and him. Jensen has a public image of heterosexual, married man with kids. Posting this as a PR doesn't make any sense at all, because it would damage his own public image.
And it makes even far less sense considering the "logistics" behind the "PR stunt": inviting your male costar (who is supposedly to be in the show just 1 or 2 seasons more) to a romantic dinner; save that picture for 10 years; 10 years later invite your costar (whom nobody knew would last so long in the show) again to the same place; take a new picture and post it in SM with a sappy quote. And all of this while risking your own heterosexual public image and appealing the rpf shippers. It doesn't make any sense at all.
However, what makes sense (I'm now tinhatting) is that Jensen is, in fact, involved in a romantic relationship with Misha, and when someone is in love, they need to tell the world about it. But Jensen can't do it. So this is the most he can do without outing himself.
And why choosing the 10th anniversary? My opinion is that anniversaries mark the beginning of something truly special or a new life stage, while birthdays, specially for middle age people, no way are that important and become a repetitive thing.
Will Jensen celebrate publicly their 15 years anniversary? Only time will tell...
I hope to anwer these questions, and now, lets see examples of what is and what isn't a PR stunt:
The chest to chest selfie: Not PR stunt
Tumblr media
The 10th anniversary: Not PR stunt
Tumblr media
The picture at the hospital: Not PR stunt
Tumblr media
Jensen promoting Walker: PR stunt
Tumblr media
J2 reconciliation in twitter: PR stunt (and a very bad one, because they clearly contradict each other)
Tumblr media
Jensen's post about Jared's birthday: PR stunt (which totally looks like it was written by Misha btw)

My notes while listening to Misha’s comments on the podcast: (grab a snack!)
In light of the most recent fandom drama I decided to listen to *that* podcast and take notes as I went along about what was actually said and then give my take on it as objectively as possible. This is basically an essay so strap in!
He complains about not getting a trailer on set that’s the same as Jared and Jensen’s. Even though he has one that can accommodate 3 people. This was the first point of discussion inspired by opening up the interview with a brief chat about Misha currently being in his camper van and how he’s sleeping in it even though he’s still home in Bellingham. The whole hour and 26 minutes has an undertone of complaining and ego stroking by all involved.
Says he’s sad he didn’t get to be there for the final days of filming.
Seems a little nervous about if friendships made during the shows run will last now it’s over.
Admits he has no plan in place or anything coming up career wise and he’s unsure of his future. This is where he brings up Walker and The Boys and says if he had shows like that to go to he wouldn’t feel SPN ending was so monumental. It is said with a slight tone of bitterness.
Side note: the hosts Alaina and Malik seem to be fine with running with the narrative that Misha was part of the show it’s entire 15 year run. Misha clears this up eventually by saying he joined in season 4.
Misha says that he realized about six years ago that SPN could run as “we”  wanted it to, implying he has any say in keeping the show going or not. He asserts that he would have been on the show up until the very end in any case. But he didn’t feel that way the first few years he was on the show. So that makes me think something or someone involved gave him the feeling he could be confident in being in the cast for however long SPN aired. Maybe this was after Sera left? Maybe this was when he agreed to a significant pay cut and demotion? Either way it seems he felt SPN = job security.
Misha doubts he’ll have the feeling of job security again.
Says from around age 11 he wanted to be a politician.
Says he saw “successful, untalented” actors and decided “I can do that”. He realized that was naive and it’s actually not easy to be that successful and by the time he got his career going he was basically just in it for the fame it’s not anything he took seriously.
We find out his wife did a doctorate in gender history... for some reason.
That Marilyn Monroe was some sort of baseline for him about creating a public persona (🤷🏽‍♀️) except for getting cosmetic surgery he points out.
Talk about how he got started. Acting classes, improve groups. Moving between Chicago, DC and LA.
Discussion about the differences and similarities between Hollywood and Washington.
States he got a consultant to help him cultivate a fan base and image to connect with an audience after getting on SPN. Admits that was a double edged sword because an anonymous public start thinking that they really know you and things start getting weird.
Mentions trying to find a balancing act of being authentic and having a private life but still keeping your fans.
He admits that the fan base he grew for himself by seeming accessible has caused him to attract people who don’t have any boundaries. This is when he claims the “dialing it back” in regard to how much he shares and mentions his kids specifically as something he doesn’t feel comfortable with putting out there. Uses the word “unhinged” to describe them.
Malik mentions “crazy fans” who seem to know too much about you and finding out where you are etc. Using the example of fans turning up at an airport wanting autographs and you wondering how they even knew you’d be there and what flight you taking. He asks Misha to share experiences about his own crazy fans.
This is when Misha uses the example about having fans who think that when he tweets something out he’s communicating with them personally.
Alaina then says that in the Supernatural fandom people fight each other to protect Jared, Jensen and Misha and it’s “very bizarre”. She volunteered that people think Misha secretly hates Jared and that it’s not true. Not sure why she decided to direct the conversation to a place that would cause drama and give Misha a chance to play victim.
 And then...
That’s when he claims that he was public enemy number one with super fans of the show because he’s taking attention away from Jared and Jensen.
That’s when he brings up the alleged organized attack to take down his Facebook account. He says they reported him for... *pauses... claims to not know what. But that whatever it was “Facebook bought it and took it down”. Facebook deleted/deactivated his account but he eventually got it back.
Side note: Facebook (like all social media) have always been bias when it comes to people with leftist views and let them have free reign on the platform. So he must have done something that they would decide to suspend him. I don’t think J2 fans can be blamed for the content he posts and if it violated any ToS. As we know he can post some inappropriate things on social media.
He then brings up the allegations of him taking money out of his organization. Stating it’s “categorically untrue” is all he brings forward as evidence to the contrary.
Side note: I don’t know why then that there’s no receipts or transparency. Why is his mother a beneficiary, why do people who mention he owns Stands get blocked, why set everything up in Delaware and have your for profit and so called non profit interests so entangled etc etc) I guess fans are just supposed to have faith and take his word for it.
He says that ALL of them (Jared, Jensen and himself) have people who hate them in the fandom. But overall the fandom is lovely and supportive of the cast and each other. Makes an attempt at stating there’s no kind of competition or animosity between he and Jared. I think this is like the 3rd or 4th time in the interview either he or Alaina bring up Jared but keep the focus on how Misha is the one facing “character assassination.”
Finally says that all of them have nasty things done to them and they all have had to consult security because of threats to their families etc, doesn’t specify which faction of the fandom that’s coming from. Mentions people filing police reports in the fandom but doesn’t say regarding who or what. Alaina reacts like it’s the first time hearing of this happening. Misha just goes “yeah!” Then they move on to talking about living situations.
Apparently Alaina and Misha were neighbors in LA but didn’t take advantage of that. She doesn’t live in LA anyone, wants a new adventure.
Misha mentions Bellingham is another thing about his future he’s unsure about and how his kids flourished there.
Brings up not being present with his kids even when he’s home because of work and side projects and that the one thing he’s enjoying right now it spending time with them. That he used to operate from a place of guilt because his kids felt like they only have one parent. He and Malik briefly spoke on how their careers have negatively affected their love lives.
Misha says he’s not really involved with Random Acts or running it anymore. (Ummm... what)
He and Alaina discuss Haiti and Nicaragua for a while.
Says he may try to get into directing. Says he likes having creative control. Mentions he likes doing his art installations.
Admits that getting a bit of success made him very entitled and wanting of special treatment. But claims he’s trying to keep that in check (where?) and he’s just like everyone else (well duh!). But he “trades on his celebrity” to get stuff and it makes him feel dirty (I think everyone with any kind of following does that though so nbd)
Talk of how TV/film is more diverse in telling minority stories these days.
Was asked by Malik if he has any kind of chip on his shoulder career wise and Misha says the chip on his shoulder is being bored. But says he needs to work on being more engaged.
He then abruptly wants to end the interview. Saying he has to pick up his kids. Malik wants another question. He asks how Misha has been hurt or healed by his career.
Misha then brings up the movie Karla. Again admitting to becoming more like Paul psychologically irl. But says knowing he has that type of evil in him somewhere (and says that we all have that in us) made him more empathetic to the human condition.
They then say their goodbyes. End of interview.
 ——
My takeaway. The worst thing he can think to say the people who don’t like him in the fandom did was trolling to get his Facebook deactivated? Also that people can see the suspicious nature of his businesses? It would be really easy to settle that with actually being transparent about the finances, which they aren’t and not having close family as benefactors though. Also, I can only speak for myself. But I never hated him. I actually loved Castiel (before his character was there just to be there in recent seasons and Cass wasn’t Cass anymore. I think Misha’s need to pander to shippers/stay on the show was a great disservice to Castiel and his arc) I was a huge Misha fan, and participated in RA and Gish a lot. I absolutely adored Misha, I led myself to believe he was the most amazing person in the world, obviously that’s the reaction he wanted to cultivate from us. Unfortunately I learned too much, experienced first hand and heard too much to be able to keep cheerleading for him. I feel bad for the people still under the spell of feeling like it’s their job to keep being defensive and unreasonably loyal to someone who you can’t and don’t really know and only have a superficial “relationship” with. Seeing the ever more unhealthy and toxic lengths people feel they need to go to to prop up his ego etc. The constant investment emotionally and financially that goes into it and the “sunk cost” if you let reality in makes it hard to let go I guess. Even he knows that what he’s done to gain and maintain relevance has attracted what he called multiple times an unhinged fan base he has to try and balance without losing his influence. I think he maybe had or has good intentions but his fame hungry drive and narcissistic personality traits win out in the end. The Heller’s seem to have, as always, taken what was said and blown it out of proportion, twisted things and created their own narrative. I do see them using key words from the interview a lot suddenly though to bully for him. So, I guess the dog whistle to the sycophants worked out. I hope that a time comes where they can have a more healthy relationship with the media and public figures they choose to gravitate towards. We can all get over zealous with things but there’s lines that shouldn’t be crossed. For some that seems sadly unlikely. I hope that Misha does indeed one day get himself in check as he calls it and I can feel comfortable to support him again. But so long as he’s being enabled and not held accountable again that seems sadly unlikely. Even though I do occasionally find myself being drawn in by the facade again a little and quickly retreating because the issues remain the same. There is a problematic dynamic in the Supernatural fandom for sure. That’s why for a long time I opted out and just watched the show separately from fandom. It’s why when I found out it was ending I had this odd sense of relief I wasn’t expecting to feel and it made me sad. I hope that now the show has aired its finale we can all reflect on things, hopefully be more self aware and objective and most importantly honest about what really has gone down and why. When things started turning sour there have been plenty of times it could have been nipped in the bud yet wasn’t. People who used this silly yet special show in selfish ways, times when walking away would have been better than sticking around trying to make things and people into something never intended to be, giving into tribalism while claiming we’re a family... for that I think we all hold a little piece of responsibility.

my take is that I dont think he meant he can't have dean, it doesn't make sense.
I have two interpretations :
1) looking back to his convo with jack about immortality, he was talking about how he and jack would have to outlive the people they love, so maybe that's what he meant that he cannot live and die with him?
2) maybe he was referring to the empty deal, as in, if he gets what he wants, maybe building a family or falling in love, you know to let himself feel? the empty would take him, and he cannot have the chance to live with those feelings...
idk ive been thinking about the confession scene for a long time because man each line can mean anything
Interesting! Okay!
To your first point:
To be honest, I have been very skeptical about that immortal life lesson Cas shared with Jack, because I felt insincere. Why was Cas, who was quick to jump into the way of the natural order where Dean and Sam were concerned, now suddenly trying to teach Jack that kind of lesson? I’m sure he was trying to do good parenting, but the truth of the matter is a) Cas cares less about the natural order (and the greater good) than he cares about his family (example: Cas making exceptions for Dean from the start, Cas letting all those people be “unborn” in S6 because Atropos threatened Sam and Dean, even though Cas really needed those souls for his “war machine”, Cas killing Billie to save the Winchesters, Cas unwilling to trade Jack’s soul against the billions of souls in Heaven etc etc) b) death in Supernatural means a crossing over into a different realm. This realm is accessible to supernatural beings and humans via portals and magic. When Cas and Jack die they go to the Empty, but if they live and Sam and Dean die, they go to Heaven, Hell or Purgatory, all places Cas has gone to and will be able to get into again.
And if we dismiss this argument I have against Cas VS natural order, then there’s still the fact that Cas could make the choice to live and die with Dean. Human Cas was the dream endgame for many fans and with Cas’ failing Grace it would have made sense for Cas to be allowed to make that choice. (But he wasn’t. Boo Supernatural.)
And your second point.
archervale pointed towards the same thing in the replies. However, this argument is simply too... circular for me. He can’t have it because if he had it the curse would strike, so he can’t have it even if he could have it. (I can’t explain what my brain is doing. It’s going in circles around this.) I think if they had wanted the tragedy of Cas be able to have what he wants only to deny himself because it would mean his death then they should have presented it differently.
And if they were going for that then I think what Cas said in the confession scene would have been worded differently. He states that he was actively thinking about what would have to happen for the Empty to get him. And he says he never found an answer because he is aware that the one thing that would make him happy, was something that was never going to happen. He thought his love was unrequited and because of that he would never be happy and the Empty would never come get him. (And then he made up some strange loop hole that still doesn’t make sense to me. But I feel this is a very particular style of tragic narrative. That speaking your truth is a triumph, even if the consequences are dire, because you affirmed yourself. I’m going off on tangent here but this, for me, feels similarly than what Misha has often wanted and ultimately got out of Cas story line; he often spoke about wanting a tragic ending for Cas, one that would provide a confirmation of Cas’ value by him dying for something good. He wanted self-sacrifice and he wanted it to mean something. I feel this would have worked, even if tragic, if SPN wouldn’t have swept the nature of Cas’ confession-sacrifice under the rug. Because what did it ultimately mean? Dean doesn’t really get to be sad about Cas’ death or celebrate him properly. Oh well...)
Okay, this got way too long. I have too many thoughts and I’m bad at filtering them so I just unload all of it whenever vaguely prompted X3

Hm. I know this is fandom stuff so whatever it’s not that big of a deal but misha is a grown 40+ year old man who CHOSE to make a post trying to defend one of the most blatant “bury your gays” moments in modern tv AND Jensen has a history* of homophobic behavior (saying brokeback ruined cowboy movies for him, ‘real men don’t use straws,’ writing no on the bi dean thesis, the booing issue). like. they’re not the victims here. and you’re bisexual too so I know you understand that the lgbt fans who were denied good rep but still expected to praise the show regardless are the ones harmed, and I wish everyone talking abt this would stop trying to empathize with grown adult men who made thousands off a homophobic, racist, misogynistic show and instead actually offer genuine criticism for the ways the show screwed everyone over
here’s the thing.
i really debated not answering this, but after the knee-jerk response I ultimately do want to be held accountable for things and if I fuck up I want to know, so let’s talk.
First of all, I *do* want to remind you and everyone that while fandom stuff definitely can be a big deal, I’m also just someone having fun on tumblr dot com and how critical i choose to be/not be isn’t indicative of my real life ability to critically consume media or view the celebrities I follow as flawed humans. Personally, this is my safe space, and I choose to celebrate the show rather than focus on tearing it down.
That being said, we do need to hold this show and the people involved accountable for their homophobia, racism, and misogyny. I honestly believe (or, i guess, believed) I’ve been doing that--I’m incredibly angry with how we’ve been treated, and I feel like I’ve done a good job voicing that. If I haven’t made it clear enough that this show massively fucked over everyone, I’m genuinely sorry. I’m very much of the mindset that the CW should burn. At the beginning when all this was going down I was very clear on that, I’ve participated in the twitter campaigns, i’m boycotting the show, etc. Recently i’ve been shifting this blog back towards being more positive (not about the ending, but just in general) for my own mental health, but please don’t think my stance on any of that has changed (and I am ready to go back into battle the moment I’m called on).
I also don’t believe I’ve ever glossed over Jensen’s problematic past--he absolutely needs to be held accountable for his past behavior. I honestly don’t have the spoons to go track down long thinkpieces on how his behavior has changed drastically recently and as to why fan opinion on him being homophobic has largely shifted but he has markedly changed his tone in the past few years and has shown himself to be an ally. If this is specifically about the post I made on the booing thing, I clarified in the tags that I wasn’t trying to defend Jensen; a lot of antis use that incident as an example of “Jensen thinks bi!dean is gross, nyah nyah” when it’s a bad example of that because he didn’t really know what was going on (as reported by the fan who asked the question). That wasn’t supposed to absolve Jensen of how he reacted in that situation or ways he has handled other similar situations. On Misha--I’ve said repeatedly that I don’t really think the CW forced him to make that video but I do believe it came from a good, if misguided place. I also believe his response to the backlash, where he listened and learned, was the best it could be. Not everyone has to accept that apology and I obviously can’t on behalf of the entire community, but I personally do, and he also is bound by an NDA + probably has guidelines on how to address the bury your gays issue so yes I will cut him some slack because of that. In fact, his statements on bury your gays specifically varied SO wildly over the past few times he’s mentioned it, from “I know this was bad and I’m sorry, it’s a conversation we should continue to have” to “It wasn’t bury your gays” that....yeah, I do believe there was some sort of consensus reached on how to approach it that he had to stick to. Overall I just genuinely think that the actors aren’t the enemy here when all the (most recent) signs point to them trying to give us as much as they can--actors aren’t showrunners or writers or producers and don’t have ultimate power over the narrative.
But I do really want to apologize if anyone following my blog feels like they aren’t allowed to be angry or that they need to celebrate the show. I’ve been vocally angry here and while I’ve been shifting more towards positivity for my own wellbeing I would never tell other fans--particularly LGBT+ ones--that we need to praise the show. I am also deeply hurt by this. I’ve expressed how hurt I am by this, and now I’m trying to move on to a more positive place, but that does not mean everyone has to! And on that note, honestly, while I may advocate against people sending hate and attacks to the actors, I’m not here to police anyone’s feelings. If you feel like you need to be angry at Jensen and Misha in order to process and move on.....it’s not my right to tell you that you can’t be. We shouldn’t let them silence us and if I’ve participated at all in the silencing....there’s not much I can say except that I’m sorry and I’ll be better.

Our Earth-Bound Angel: An Open Letter to Misha Collins
September 18, 2008. It was a Thursday.
A simple, ordinary day. Most of us went to work, or school and when we came home, we were so excited to sit down and watch the new episode of this little show we were all kind of obsessed with called Supernatural. You might have heard of it, two annoyingly handsome brothers, a ’67 chevy impala, saving people, hunting things, the family business? Yeah, that’s the one. All I remember is having a ton of uni work to do, and Supernatural was always one of my favourite ways to procrastinate starting my assignments. Little did I know that on this particular Thursday, I and the rest of the world, including the Winchesters, would be introduced to a strange, stoic, ocean-blue-eyed, trench coat wearing being by the name of Castiel, Angel of the Lord.
As I sit here today, in November of 2020, hands down the strangest year I have been alive to witness and fifteen years after this incredible, groundbreaking show aired, I wait with anticipation, heartbreak and a grateful heart as the final episode hits our screens. I’m on the rollercoaster of emotions, as is the rest of the SPN family. Sam and Dean Winchester, and Castiel, have been so much more than television characters to so many people. They’ve been role models, safe places, escapes, friends we could always turn too when we felt alone. They’ve fought heaven, hell and everything in between, all while helping us fight the demons that a lot of us deal with everyday; depression, anxiety, repression, silence, violence, cruelty and bullying. Which brings me to why I'm writing this epistle.
While Supernatural and it’s characters have been a crux of support, for me, there has been one soul at the centre of what I can only describe as a shift in perspective, mindset and spirituality that has changed the way I think, the way I live my life, the way I perceive the world and the way in which I am consciously aware. That soul is Misha Collins.
Misha is the kind, genuine, incredible, humble human being who brought Castiel to life. He took this iconic angel through his journey from stoic, unwavering, unfeeling solider to the caring, loving, brave, loyal man he is today. Cas gave all of us who lived in the shadows a voice, he was a lost soul who fought for good, for love and for family at every turn. He discovered himself, he figured out right from wrong, figured out emotions, how to be and how to love, he figured out what truly made him happy, his love for a single human being. Cas is the embodiment of growth, of acceptance and of love. He is, and will forever be, one of the most groundbreaking characters to ever grace our screens (pun not intended, but I'll take it), and it's an astonishing and beautiful legacy to leave behind.
But the real earth-bound angel is Misha, the person.
Misha has impacted and changed so many lives all around the world, not just with his character, but with who he is, what he fights for, and how he inspires. When he speaks, we listen. Where he leads, we follow. He has changed my life in monumental ways and it's interesting to think that a single person, who I've never even had the privilege to meet in person, has been able to change my entire life for the better. There is nobody quite like Misha; he's a change maker, an advocate, an educator, an activist, a philanthropist, an absolute force to be reckoned with. I’ve never seen someone who uses their power and platform of celebrity the way he does; to fight for good, to fight for change and truly make a difference on both massive and small scales. He has brought about more kindness, and more social and political change than I ever thought possible.
In 2010, Misha, with help from the SPN Family, founded a non-profit organisation called Random Acts, which was the result of an immediate need to help those who had been affected by the earthquakes in Haiti at the time. Random Acts is an entirely volunteer-run organisation aiming to inspire change and help make a difference in people’s lives through acts of kindness. I have been working at Random Acts going on four years now. In that time, I have seen and been apart of so much good, so much kindness, it has truly lifted my soul and filled my heart at a deep level. I’ve been able to work with some of the greatest human beings on the planet, and many of them who have become close friends. Those who I can talk too when things are rough, those who know life can be hard, but they always have your back. I cherish them, I feel blessed everyday to know them, and without Misha and his desire to do good, I would never have found this amazing family. How does one even begin to say thank you for that?
For those of you who don’t know much about Random Acts, we are a non-profit organisation dedicated to conquering the world with kindness, one act at a time - and let me tell you, that’s exactly what we’re doing. The people in this organisation work tirelessly to save the world every single day. We’ve helped suffering communities rebuild their towns, homes and schools, our partnerships with GISH* and The Legacy of War Foundation* in the Change A Life project has seen over $750,000 raised for those in need. Let’s also not forget the development of the  Random Acts COVID-19 Support Program and the SPN Family Crisis Support Network*, which is dedicated to promoting awareness and providing resources to all those suffering from mental health issues, self-harm, depression, bullying and addiction. This year we are celebrating 10 years of kindness, and if you would like to know more about how to get involved or contribute to our anniversary campaign, you can do so here: https://www.randomacts.org/ten-years-of-kindness/
But wait, there’s more, because that’s just who Misha is, like I said, a force to be reckoned with. Let’s face it, 2020 has been a nightmare on an epic scale; COVID,  racism, violence, the U.S presidency and the election, you name it, we’ve done it. Throughout this year, most of us felt our hope slip away bit by bit, the more we tried to fight, the more it felt like we lost. It felt as though the world was burning and we couldn’t do a damn thing to stop it. I think I finally understood how Sam, Dean and Cas felt at the brink of every apocalypse they ever faced, because that is truly what this year was; the apocalypse. But whenever things got really tough, whenever I didn’t know what to do, or how to react or how to make it better, I knew I could turn to Misha, because he would have the answer. His light, his wisdom and his capacity for hope and goodness was never short of a miracle, and it was what got me through most of those gut-wrenching, 'I can’t do this’ days.
Misha is the type of person who acts on what he believes in, he is the person encouraging people to vote, providing resources and the information needed to make sure your votes were counted. He has had Random Acts volunteers bring snacks to people who were waiting in voting lines, he rallied his friends and the SPN Family to set up the SPN Phone Bank, he hosted the SPNVotes Zoom GOTV rally and episode watch party, and has provided us with Senate candidates and House of Representatives candidates lives and zoom talks so we can be as informed as possible. And that was just for the election. When the Black Lives Matter movement was at it’s height, Misha did everything in his power to educate, to assist and to fight for the rights of others: the GISH Change A Life project raised over $50,000 to fight malaria in Africa with Nothing But Nets and over $122,000 for Cut50 and Dream Corps' to help fight for criminal justice reform, he also provided us with access to discussions with senators and prominent leaders in social change so that we can be educated and so we can educate others on the serious issues that plague our society.
I could go on and on about this man, because the above only scratches the surface of what Misha has done for the world. I have never had someone impact my way of thinking and way of being on such an epic scale. Most of you who know me know that first and foremost, I’m an actor and I’m a writer. The inspiration that Misha has brought to my creative process is a feat in itself. To be able to watch an actor take a guest-star role and turn it into not just a main character, but a phenomenal example of development, growth and creativity has forever changed the way I approach a script and a character. The choices I’ve seen Misha make as Cas, all versions of, have both truly astounded and surprised me, I look up to Misha as an actor because he’s so uniquely creative. He’s not afraid to try things, he’s not afraid to push the envelope and get out of his comfort zones. He knows character and story so very well, he knows exactly how to use the full spectrum of emotions exactly when needed, and he has what I can only think to describe as ‘presence’, as ‘energy’ that radiates off the screen. Watching Misha play, develop and grow the essence that is Cas’ has been an educating and enlightening experience to watch as an actor.
For me as a human being, Misha has flipped the way I view the world and humanity on its head. He has this unbridled passion for life - and I don’t just mean in the sense that he loves life - I mean in the way where being around him, or listening to him, makes every person accountable for kindness and responsible for change. It’s not possible to follow Misha as a person and as an actor without being so heavily impacted by his views, his life, his art, his work, his capacity for good, everything. You don’t see that everyday. We don’t have enough of those kinds of leaders in our lives, and in a world where division and chaos is rife, people like Misha are our chance to save it. He is already so heavily impacting the way in which the next generation is going to behave, they are turning to him now to see how to be, what to do, how to make the world better. And he is teaching them and showing them the way and I couldn’t be prouder to call this man my idol.
So this is my thank you, in the best way I know how. In case nobody’s told you lately Misha, you are one of a kind. They broke the mould when they made you. You are the kindest, most inspiring soul and this world is so lucky and so blessed to have you. I feel privileged that I get to share a planet with you, and that I get to be living on this earth at the same time as you. You’ve changed the world, changed me, and changed all of us for the better.  You’ve opened our eyes to issues and concerns, whether it be social, environmental, political or otherwise that we may not have understood or given much thought to before you showed us why we should. You’ve made us feel safe, you’ve given us the space and room to be ourselves, to not be ashamed of being different or unique. You have never judged us, but you have always encouraged and supported us. You have this beautiful way of talking to people, of using words to encourage and inspire and motivate us to be the change, to do the good, and to fight the fight.  You light up any room you’re in or screen that you’re on, you make us smile and laugh, and when we feel down or low, it is you we turn too. Maybe you truly do have angel grace inside of you. You are the example to which I live my life by, and the standard to which I hold myself accountable. I hope one day to be even half the human being you are. I’m beyond grateful for everything you’ve taught me, about life, about acting, about being a good human, about being yourself and being the good you want to see in the world.
Thank you for Cas. Thank you for Random Acts and the Crisis Network. Thank you for GISH and the Change A Life project. Thank you for teaching me how to be better. Thank you for caring about the world. Thank you for your hope, wisdom and kindness. Thank you for changing the world. Thank you for saving our lives. Thank you for changing my life. Thank you for being you.
Some heroes don’t wear capes, some wear trenchcoats.
You are my hero. You are truly an angel, there is no fiction about that.
I love you.

Misha’s cult follower’s entire argument is celebrities should be “using their platform” [for politics] and in this way, Misha is better because he is “doing more” than Jared.  I just…
Anyway, time once again to look at some cold, hard, facts which I wouldn’t be doing if Misha’s stans would just leave Jared the fuck alone. Seriously, you can consider Misha to be God himself and I don’t give a single fuck, but trash Jared using lies on his social media and you get my attention.
Putting this under a cut for those blessed amongst you that appear to be able to exist in a bubble of nirvana to just scroll on by.
Firstly, and most importantly, it’s not about “using your platform”, it’s about  ‘understanding your audience’ and using your platform effectively. To this end, let’s look at Twitter platform only as an example, because I’m lazy and have other things to do and it’s where I’ve seen most of the noise.
Misha:
Misha had not ever posted using BlackLivesMatter hashtag prior to George Floyd’s death (on 25th May).
On 27th May, Misha retweeted a Huff Post news article and got 13.1k likes, 2.2k retweets and 317 comments. It did not use the BLM hashtag.   He added a comment “How many more black men must die in America before we do something?” (But didn’t offer any suggestions on what he was doing or what anyone else should do). Slacktivism at its finest.  His next immediate tweet was about Gish.
His next post about BLM was 28th May, which co-incidentally (or not depending on if you’ve been watching Collins closely), was the top trending day for the BLM hashtag.  This was the tweet:
Tumblr media
Again, nothing of substance, other than using the hashtag, which was still trending, though the tweet did generate 31.4k likes, 8k retweets and 650 comments.
His next post was on 29th May, photo op with the kids about having hard conversations with them – you mean you weren’t teaching them about this stuff before Mish? Anyway, that post still didn’t have anything of substance but once again used the trending hashtag.
On May 30th, he tweeted about the Live event featuring POC activists. This event replaced a previously arranged Gish event which even Misha knows he’d have been trashed for if it had went ahead as planned. All 3: Misha, Jensen and Danneel posted exactly the same pre-organised message for the live event, instead of individualising it. I personally thought that was very tacky (sorry).  This tweet got 5.1k likes, 723 retweets and 120 comments. It was not tagged BlackLivesMatter which was already falling in the trending topics.  He retweeted a further 10+ tweets about the riots on that day.
On May 30th, Gish had their 1-day event, one item on the list was raising money for NAACP legal defence and education fund.
On 31st May, he tweeted about Gish raising $151k for NAACP legal defence and education fund as part of the Gish 1-day event.  He posted another few tweets about the live event the previous day and the riots.
On 1st June, he retweeted Obama’s thoughts.  Another 5 tweets about the riots
Anyway, I got bored as his entire twitter feed is US political, despite most of his fans being outside US.  Fast forward about a 100 or so like-minded posts (honestly, the depths I swim in to pull these together…) to… 26th June where Misha posted about the second live conversation, this tweet got 2.7k likes, 311 retweets and 56 comments.
 Jared:
Jared’s last post before his BLM post was 14th May.  Unlike Misha, his social media is primarily for his professional working life (as is the case with most celebrities who want to continue a career in acting, as opposed to Misha who appears to have accepted his career in television is all but over and is setting himself up to go back into politics).
Jared had not ever posted using BlackLivesMatter hashtag prior to George Floyd’s death.
29th May was Jared’s first post.  He provided a link to a document containing further links on how to be a better ally. He stated clearly what his position was.  This tweet was liked by 43k people, 1.7k retweets and 269 comments.  On the same day, he retweeted a Randy Orton tweet making it clear that he stood with BLM (as opposed to ALM).
1st June he retweeted Obama’s post with a comment. This retweet got 23.7k likes, 3.2k retweets and 421 comments
19th June, he retweeted Obama’s post about June Nineteenth
21st June, he cross posted his Instagram post about Father’s Day using the hashtag Black Lives Matter.  He got 19.6k likes, 2.7k retweets and 638 comments.
 Jensen:
Jensen’s last post before his BLM post was 19th May and was about FBBC.  Again, unlike Misha, his social media is primarily for his professional working life and separate business interests.
Jensen had not ever posted using BlackLivesMatter hashtag prior to George Floyd’s death.
Jensen posted on 30th May using the exact same wording as Misha and Danneel regarding the live event. This tweet got 10.3k likes, 1.2k retweets and 298 comments.  He did not use the BLM hashtag
On 1st June, he retweeted Jane Elliot video that got 18k likes, 3.5k retweets and 375 comments.  Also on 1st June, he tweeted a link to Ways to Help and used the BlackLivesMatter hashtag.  This got 18k likes, 4.5k retweets and 574 comments.
On June 26th, he linked to Misha’s post about the second live session and got 19.9k likes, 1.9k retweets and 321 comments.
So, what is any of this telling us?
The data is telling us that Jared’s few tweets reached and resonated with far more people on his platform than either of Jensen’s or Misha’s did. The data is also telling me that Misha’s constant tweeting is diluting the message and switching people off, his last tweet on it was 2.7k likes, pretty much his die hard fanbase and are not achieving anything positive.  In fact, his platform are doing more harm than good at this point with how they’ve gone after allys.   Jared’s few tweets struck the right note for his particular audience. Any more and they’d be switching off in droves (not really an effective use of platform).
In addition, though it looks like Misha is being more proactive with arranging the live events, I’d personally question the success given less than 0.0033% of Jensen and Misha’s combined platforms tuned in to watch the last event live.  And those that did watch live, appeared to be more interested in getting ship content than in the actual message - so much so that Jensen had to make a video on IG telling them to look and listen.
Gish does get credit for raising $150k in charity in 24 hours, but I wouldn’t put them on a higher pedestal for it, Doing charity doesn’t give a free pass to be an asshole (particularly one that misuses Pride).
Just stop with the lies and the trashing of a decent man in order to feel better about the guy you like. Particularly when there are real assholes that pretend masturbating to 11 year old girls ffs.  It’s senseless, go ahead and like Misha, but accept there’s a lot in fandom that don’t and some are going to blog about it in their own private spaces. Feel free to do the same with Jared but be more respectful and keep it away from his space. That’s all anyone is asking for.

hi oh my god thank you for the misha podcast rant. I like him a lot too which is why I need to occasionally refuel myself on him being fucking stupid but i couldn't put myself through ACTUALLY listening to him spew liberal-establishment takes. i am CHEERING you on, that man NEEDS to be radicalized.
not to vent but you got me really excited so: i watched an interview with Haitian activist David Oxygène and he talked specifically about continued US imperialism in Haiti and said "Joe Biden is a democrat. Donald Trump is a Republican. But how are their policies different?" Like, this is what liberals like Misha Collins do not understand: just bc life is now "better" for white liberals who were "stressed" doesn't mean it's changed for everyone else, especially not marginalized peoples and ESPECIALLY not marginalized peoples in other countries we keep intervening in. to act like Biden has integrity when he exists to keep a system that enforces oppression running smoothly is....ignorant.
and this all reminds me of how some of misha's political work in the past DOES lean towards white saviorism. like i think he's aware that prejudice exists and he wants to fight back against sexism and racism but he doesn't REALLY understand how it operates beyond vocal sexists and racists. for example: his # abolishice tweets where he claimed that "he supports ethical workers who just enforce immigration laws" and "while ice was bad under Obama too, the current policies under Trump are human rights violations." But like he doesn't fucking INTERROGATE that and go "wait what do borders even mean? How can we enforce laws against people MOVING? can a policing org like ice even exist without oppressing marginalized people and uplifting the white supremacist carceral state?"
LONG RANT SHORT: yes i agree celebrity liberals are being really irresponsible (and disingenuous) and i agree we can hold space to both admire his mobilizing of fans for charity and activism reasons while criticizing the areas he falls short. and i think he's getting it into his head right now that politics might be viable for him now that supernatural is over and i honestly think someone needs to drag him/hand him the communist manifesto before he gears up to run for office. you may not want to bully him but IIIII will take the fall, Dmitri let me lecture you PLEASE. anyway i am SO sorry you sat through that podcast episode. I looked at the woman's Twitter page for the podcast and like....she seems white feminist so. You're brave. I appreciate your sacrifice. I salute you! Thank you :)
OH THANK U FOR THE INPUT esp about the saviorism that tracks lookin back lmao yeah its like. all rich white democrat shit!!!!!!!!! like. cmon dude think about it a little longer…….interrogate some things Please
and yes exactly like. criticism doesnt negate any good someones done! just good 2 be informed and think about things. anyways if this man r*ns for *ff*c* i will officially be certain that we are in the most absurd and made up timeline. a cosmic joke if you will. terrifying

I feel like stans don't accept that people might have legitimate reasons to not like their fave outside of who they play on TV or what faction of fandom they belong to. For example, i came into this fandom a Dean girl(gn) and i wasn't a huge fan of Sam until season 5 or 6. I had no problem with Jared however. I adored him. I was very pleased to see a celebrity so open about his struggles with mental health. It became a problem however, when he started using his mental health issues as an excuse to act like a spoiled brat.
Those of us who suffer from various mental issues have a hard enough time trying to shake off the "crazy" stigma and having a celebrity, who seems to be an advocate for mental health awareness, turn around and slam someone who suffered from addiction, publicly shame customer service workers while doing nothing to stop the fans who attacked them in his defense, and assault people while under the influence, then turn around and play the victim while also making jokes about it.....not a good look for us, ya know.
Dont get me wrong, it's okay to make mistakes, people mess up. Its part of being human. Own up to it, apologize and move on. But to blame crap behavior on mental health issues while also trying to be a spokesperson for good mental health.....
I know my fave isn't perfect. He says and does some Fd up Sh** and absolutely deserves to be called out on it. I also know there are people in my particular corner of the fandom are toxic as hell, but their opinions do not influence my own.
I can separate fiction from real life. Who i like and what i like and what i do or do not ship has no influence on how i feel about the actors on some tv show. I didn't like Sam at first but it had nothing to do with any ship or any other characters, i simply just didn't like Sam at first. And that didn't make me hate Jared. Now it's actually the opposite. I adore Sam, but Jared gives me all the wrong vibes. I want to believe he will get better, but it seems like the more time goes on, the more controversial he becomes.
I tried watching Walker, and it was BAD. I tried to talk to people about why it was bad and people told me i was just biased because of my preferences in SPN. A completely different show. I pointed out that jared fudged some things about the finale (5 years vs 6months, blurry "gender ambiguous" spouse.) and was ignored because I don't hate Misha. (All three of them said sketchy things about the finale btw i don't want this to seem like jared was the only one)
I'm sorry to rant like this on your page, but you seem to be one of the only anti blogs that can keep an objective view and I'm seriously starting to get sick of all these people acting like their faves sh** don't stink. They're men. Not Gods. It's okay to call them out. All of them. And no one can tell me that if Jensen had beat someone up while drunk he wouldn't be crucified, or if Misha had called a beloved actors death "pathetic" he wouldn't be cancelled. As they should be. Because those are messed up things to do. No matter who does them. And who ever does those things should be held accountable. Not babied.
I just really wish more people would realize the hypocrisy in their favoritism. I'm sorry. Rant over.
You’re welcome to rant anytime you need, love!
I have an anxiety disorder and depression, and let me tell you, I was stoked when Jared was so open about his struggles and created AKF. But now it kind of makes me roll my eyes. He only brings up AKF when he’s promoting a new product he’s selling, he rarely ever mentions being a “mental health advocate” unless he’s promoting some product. It comes off as really fake. And I completely agree with you that him being able to hide behind his mental illness as an excuse for everything is gross. The fans totally feed into it too because no matter what happens, no matter what he does, he’s exempt from criticism (well deserved criticism) because of his “mental health”. Him making jokes about his arrest while simultaneously dodging responsibility and accountability for it was a big giveaway to him being able to handle more than the fans think.
There is a LOT of hypocrisy with Jensen, Jared and Misha and a lot of double standards. I try very hard not to be biased with them though! I think you’re right though that if Jensen had done the shit that Jared has done and continues to do, he’d be ripped apart. Misha would be cancelled in a heartbeat and Jared would absolutely stay silent to it all. Jared does it though? He’s just a big ol’ silly moose with depression! Seriously?
I’m not saying Jared needs to be perfect, I’m not saying that any of them have to be perfect, but at least own up to your mistakes, take responsibility and practice what you preach. No one has made him face actual consequences so he keeps doing it without learning from his mistakes.

Are there any couples (bl or just celebrities in general) that you think might actually be together in real life? Let’s speculate ❤️ its all in good fun (if you don’t like speculating... just ignore this please 😂)
I love speculating, but let me put out a disclaimer: It’s all fine and dandy to ship “real people” so as long as one is being respectful about it. One thing I will never do is speculate this with the people in question. My thing is, nothing is impossible. No one could look me in the eyes and say they can’t be together, it’s just impossible. Well, I’d have to ask why is it impossible?
Why is so out of the ordinary that perhaps Mew and Gulf could be together for real? Sometimes, people argue why is it always about romance? Why can’t we leave it alone and call it a really good friendship? Well, that’s up to the viewer. How do they define platonic and romantic? For example, to me there are a few things Mew and Gulf have done that exceed a friendship level...
Still I teeter the fence when it comes to “real life” shipping. Unfortunately, Thailand (Thai BL) MARKETS the shit out of it. It’s a job, first and foremost for those boys. It’s the way they make money and their sexual orientation has nothing to do with that. They are simply in it for the money whether straight, gay, bi, lesbian etc. Whether they choose to identify that is also up to the actor/actress. Never should us fans be nagging and forcing anyone to ‘come out.’ Fans should also be respectful of any partners the actors/actresses have outside of the marketed ship. I know that there was a debacle with fans over partners that TayNew (another Thai BL ship) had. It sent fans into a frenzy because Tay and New belong together...but how do you know?
It’s not up to us to POLICE these young men or women we watch in these BL shows. It actually gets even harder to truly “ship” anyone outside of BL, because industries run differently. For instance, I might be a sort of ...let’s say “peeper” when it comes to Cockles, which is that of Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins. But for me that kinda goes both ways. Cockles is simply a name for them together and their bond had become something hella special over the years they worked on Supernatural together. Could I speculate that Ackles and Collins would cross the line of platonic more so than j2, which is Jared Padalecki and Ackles...yes, I do think Cockles could delve into romance.
It’s tricky with real life shipping, because most people want their privacy. However, I won’t shame anyone for thinking that any of the boys from BL shows are together, especially Thai BL, because they totally make that for you. I don’t think every Thai BL ship is together, but I won’t rule it out. For example, if there was announcement that Mew and Gulf actually got married it’d be of zilch surprise to me. Or if any of them announced from OffGun to TayNew, ZaintSee, BrightWin...seriously, it wouldn’t surprise me. It’s also because ever since I started watching these shows I do not and have ever held the view that they are straight actors. Maybe some of them are, maybe some of them aren’t, and some of them fell into a pit of discovery (Bright) as they worked on their shows.
It also becomes hella tricky for Thailand because as far as I know same sex marriage hasn’t been legalized. So imagine being any of those boys and actually developing feelings *coughs* Mew Suppasit, but you can’t get married in your own country? However, you can get “married” for marketing the ship and sort of like an interview process to describe your dream wedding, etc... it’s like the teen magazines with the excerpts on your fav celeb, but live action interviews that pawn off a brand or pretend to marry...I watched that video thinking this is Tharn and Type’s future, mainly because I hadn’t found the original. I found a fan version with music and shit, but someone led me to an upload of the original and said it’s MewGulf. I went what?  No, what? OKay....I hate watching this wedding video because it is WHIPLASH.
Anyway, anon, before this gets any longer, I’ll stop here. It’s safe to say that if there is one BL couple that could ever be legit it’d be MewGulf for me. However, there could be a possibility that Mew and Gulf’s age differences start to clash. Gulf is a mature 23 year old yes, but Mew turned 29...he’s creeping into wanting to settle down territory. They may want different things, but who the hell knows.
That’s the rub, WE NEVER REALLY KNOW and WILL NEVER KNOW unless somehow we get to live Zee Pruk’s fanboy dream and become friends with your celeb crush then be in a show with him and have smexy scenes. Then continue to have a RAGING crush on that said person (Saint) and love that fact that he totally teases the shit out of you about it....more than friends?
WHO KNOWS. What I do try to stick to is the characters. Tharn and Type together forever. Fighter and Tutor together forever. Sometimes though I have seen the actors do something together at a fan meet and I go, wait a minute I want to see Tharn and Type do that so let me write up a fic for them. So it’s funny, because the “real life” ship supplies me material for the fictional ship.
Okay, it got longer. If you made it through this anon. Yay!

Wicca and Expanding Worship Beyond the Heteronormative: Changing the Gender Essentialist Narrative in Rites of Passage
Historically in the U.S.A. Wicca and parts of the Neo-Pagan movement have been influenced by the trans-exclusive narratives of second wave feminism in the 1960s-1970s and the patriarchal beliefs of Traditional Wiccan founders Alex Sanders and Gerald Gardner. Both of these sets of beliefs are based on Gender Essentialism. This concept of gender and sex is trans-exclusionary, and denies non-binary, trans and intersex people their existence and identities. Misha Magdalene has two insightful and informative commentaries on the history and the problems with gender essentialism in modern witchcraft and Wiccan practices Tracing the Thread:Critiquing Gender Essentialism in Paganism, Polytheism and Magic and How It “Ought” To Be: The Problem of Gender Essentialism. Ritual and magick at their most fundamental level are about energy. Energy is neutral, non-specific in its natural form. Energy only changes when we put our wills to it.  Gender identity and expression affect energy because they are a part of will which then transforms energy from neutral to gendered. Gender expression, like energy, is not a fixed state of being. A person who identifies and expresses as one gender outside of ritual space may express differently while in a circle regardless of being non-binary, trans, cis, agender, or genderfluid. For example: I am a cis woman. In my day to day life I generally project what is traditionally thought of as feminine energy. However, I have had days where I am more connected to the god and traditional masculine energy and I will express male energy. On my masculine energy days I have participated in a public ritual where we have invoked the deities in with a call and response of “Who is the God?!”, “I am the God?”. I have responded with that call. I have seen cis-men invoke the Goddess in the same way. People who are non-binary or agender will connect with the gendered energy of dieties in these moments too. The energy expression of a person does not change the identity of the person. In a ritual circle, it is about who we are in the moment, our connections to each other and the divine energies, regardless of our gender identities, expressions, or roles we play within or beyond that sacred space.
So, how does this fit into Rites of Passage?  If we understand Wicca to be a nature religion, where the gods present in whatever way they want, and our roles are about energy, as discussed by Taz Chance in her article Sex, Gender and the Divine, then we must take a hard look at our Rites of Passage and orient them around the concept that roles are not binary or gender specific. Wicca has several kinds of Rites of Passage. I am going to talk about Initiatory and Life Cycle roles and rites this time. Even though I am only covering a couple of examples in this piece, these concepts and ideas can be applied to any Rite of Passage.
Before going on let’s define a role vs a rite.
Role- A position, duty, responsibility, function, or aspect a person is taking on in their life and community. (mother, husband, priest, priestess etc)
Rite- A ceremonial and ritualized observance of a person marking an achievement or life event. Often celebratory (wedding, initiation, croning, wiccaning etc)
Roles make up the different facets of our identities and are expressed in a variety of different ways. Some roles are familial, societal, or social and may or may not have a gender associated with them. Roles help to define ourselves and our relationships to others, our status in the community, our function, and responsibilities. A role is like a feudal title i.e. king. A king is someone who rules over a country, who has power through vassals, who has a responsibility to lead and protect their people, and make decisions of state, they have the highest status in the society. What gender is a king? Did you say male? If you did that is because traditionally it has been, and queen tends to be the term for a female ruler. Queens are often thought to be equal to kings, but it has not always been so. In fact the reason that we think of them as equals is because there were some badass women who made it that way (Queen Elizabeth Tudor I, Catherine the Great of Russia, Queen Victoria, Queen Elizabeth Windsor II) However, the roles are slightly different when there is both a king and a queen. The queen is subject to the king. Which is why Elizabeth I never married, Victoria and Elizabeth II never had their husbands crowned, and Catherine the Great staged a coup and (possibly) had her husband assassinated. In fact Elizabeth I signed her letters Elizabeth Rex, Elizabeth the King, defining the role as a Ruler and King as something separate from her gender identity and expression. Hateshput of Ancient Egypt was Pharaoh and iconography identified her with traditional male symbols.  The first time I came across the concept of a king being a role and a title, and not a gender was in The Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia C. Wrede. In the book Dealing With Dragons, a female dragon becomes the Dragon King. When questioned and asked about the gender, the dragon explains that King is a title and set of responsibilities, not about gender, and that Dragon Queen was a different role entirely. This type of gender disassociation with the title King, is also seen in the Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, where Elizabeth Swann becomes the Pirate King. This concept is not new and has found its way into our popular culture as our collective perspective shifts. These examples helped form the foundation of my understanding of roles being separate from gender which were later supported in my studies of Simone de Beauvoire, and the theories that gender is a social construct. Additionally, my personal experience with gender non-conformity, the time I have spent as a member of the queer community and discussing this topic with Trans and non-binary folx further solidified my views.
In Wicca, roles tend to be defined in Archetypal Terms, and are often thought as gender specific; for example Priest being male and Priestess being female.  Priest or Priestess doesn’t define the gender identity of the person, it defines their place in the circle and community. As positions within a coven, they denote learning and status, they also have spiritual meaning for the person who claims the title, and they have specific responsibilities. A Priest in this role has the job to protect the Priestess and participants in a coven, provide guidance, support the coven, help maintain stability in the coven, lead and connect others to the divine. A Priestess in this role is to lead and connect the participants to each other as well as the divine, grow and nurture the coven, provide teaching, and maintain lineage and liturgy. In a ritual circle it is the priest’s duty to pull in active/dynamic energy, provide protection for the priestess and participants, maintain balance in the circle, and move energy. A priestess in a ritual circle calls the receptive/creative energy, leads the participants in energy raising, connects the divine to the circle, and directs the energy to its purpose. It has nothing to do with gender identity or genitalia, but everything to do with how they use their skills, express and move energy. Historically and in Gardnerian tradition first, a Priest will initiate a Priestess, and then a Priestess will initiate a Priest strictly within cis-sex roles as there were no trans practitioners at the time. As trans-people became involved it was expanded to gender polarity. We can expand and redefine the tradition to reflect the LBTQ+ members of our community by allowing anyone to take on the leadership role that their energy reflects, and still keep the initiatory rite of passage tradition of a Priestess initiating a Priest and vice-versa. There is room in our theology for this, it shifts us from a gender essentialist fertility view to a gender-inclusive nature view, and it won’t really change the mechanics of Initiation itself.
These expanded perspectives can likewise be applied to Rites of Passage. Every rite of passage ceremony is based on a tradition, and it has a specific pattern that we build on, just like every other ritual that we celebrate. The pattern, the rhythm, and associations will flow based on your tradition influenced by the mechanics of how magic works. Rites can be performed for a certain individual, or they can be performed for a group. When performing a rite it is important to ask “Who is it for? What is its purpose?” I understand such a ceremony as first and foremost for the person undergoing the ceremony, and secondly for the witnesses. I believe that it is important that Rites of Passage be tailored to the individual experiencing the Rite, rather than using the same ritual for everyone.  Consider the ritual and pattern of a wedding; even though they have the same purpose, each wedding is uniquely tailored to the people getting married.
Similar to the roles, there are traditionally gendered rites. Many of the rites can be expanded by separating the role from gender and focusing on the energy. Some rites, however, are embedded in physiological/biological processes and need to be reworked. Womanings/ Mannings and Mothering/Fathering Rites fall under this. The typically female Maiden-Mother-Queen-Crone archetypal cycle is based on menses, giving birth, menopause, and post-menopause. So, without further ado, let’s talk about the Mothering Rite of Passage.
Traditionally the Mothering Rite is specifically reserved for a woman who has gone through a pregnancy and given birth (via c-section or vaginally). In some traditions it is only vaginally. It is attended only by women who have given birth. The purpose is for the woman in question to receive advice, support, and commune with others who have had this experience, as well as a recognition of her new role. If you say you are going to perform a “Mothering” rite to older members of the community, this is what they will understand it as. When I learned this I was infuriated because it is the most narrow understanding of motherhood reducing women down to their biological capabilities. I pushed, railed, discussed, and argued against it. In fact, it was this discussion that led me to start this blog series.
First, the above excludes adoptive mothers, mothers by surrogate, foster mothers, trans-women, step-mothers, and mothers who have experienced C-sections (in some traditions), and it defines biological mothering as the only type worth recognizing. Second, this understanding denies the fact that trans-men, non-binary and genderqueer folx become pregnant and give birth without, not necessarily, taking on the role of Mother. Lastly, the definition denies that a person of any gender can take on this role, i.e. men in same-sex relationships, stay-at-home men, single parenting men, intersex, and genderqueer folx can and do define themselves as Mother. Each of these types need to be included under this rite because they are all Mothers, and they deserve community support and recognition. There are some things about being a mother to a child that are universal no matter how the child came into your life, or what your gender identity is. Theologically and philosophically Mother is more than a biological and social function. It is the act of bringing something to being, and letting go. It is about love, sacrifice, and nurture. A mother undergoes a revolutionary experience of creating a bond so strong that they focus on another being in a completely different way. Physical pregnancy and birth are not required for a person to take on the role of Mother. It is an archetypal expression of the Goddess, and role for humans to take on. As archetypes and deities do not have a physical sex as we understand it and roles can be separate from gender we must expand the definition to include all types of mothers.
The reason that I propose that Mothering change to an umbrella term to cover several different types of rites for mothers, rather than coming up with a new term for each type is this: if birthing rites are the only ones called mothering, it is denying the variety of ways one is and can be a mother. It is a type of “separate but equal”, and “separate but equal” is never equal. An adoptive or foster mother is just as important and worthy of being called mother as a biological birthing mother. The purpose of this rite of passage in its essence is to provide communion with others, recognition, and allow a person to transition into their new role as a mother in their personal and public life. We should tailor the ritual to the person asking for this type of rite. We can build on the original pattern and make the adjustments to fit the person. Also, having a rite specific to those who have experienced the physical birthing process can be done. I propose renaming it under the overarching umbrella of Parenting Rites to include non-binary, trans, and cis identies by changing the title to Birthing Ritual. In this way it can fall under any parenting rites and give the person the opportunity and experience to commune with others who have had the same physical changes, traumas, and joy in this particular experience. We can also create rituals for adoption and step-parenting that will fall into the category of Parenting Rites. Expanding a definition to include others doesn’t negate the tradition or the need for it.
Keep in mind that  the process of restructuring and growth is slow. It is important to take a look at our traditions and history to see where we can be better, and it is okay to keep traditions that we like. In making adjustments it is good to experiment, discuss with your groups/covens/teachers, and community. When making changes to be inclusive be sure to really listen to the people that you are trying to include and ask what they want to see and experience to reflect themselves.
Remember that when we recognize people in their many facets as they transition and take on new roles helps us grow. The role is important, but it is about the person, and their relationship with their community. Roles are not defined by our gender identity or expression, but the functions and responsibilities that are performed. Rites can expand and be broadened in understanding without denying people tradition. Adjustments that are made can be supported through both theological and sociological foundations. It moves us forward into a greater understanding that our practices can evolve with us and reflect who we are and our natures.
