Aight Peter Maximoff stans, I want to point out some plot holes and unanswered questions about "Ralph Bohner"

WandaVision Spoilers:

(I am in currently listening to Sweet Dreams/80s music while writing this very drunk, determined and in immense denial. 😁🤘)

Ralphs name. Why doesn't Ralph Bohner have a hex name and a real name? Unless "Pietro" was essentially his hex name. But I truly believe that Wanda unintentionally or otherwise wouldn't name some random civilian "Pietro", right? Like how Sarah was named Dottie at random, wouldn't that be the case for Ralph also? From what was shown it made it out to seem he's called Ralph Bohner in and out of the hex.

From episode 1-5 Agatha spoke about Ralph like he was her husband for some reason. Why did he only appear in episode 5 if she had Ralph under her control to use to her benefit from the very beginning? It's just odd.

Agatha's abilities. Agataha had shown Wanda that can perform illusions(like how she turned a bug into a bird). So... why didn't she make Ralph look like Wandas brother if she can make illusions? Especially after going through the trouble of picking a guy that acts nothing like Wandas brother and giving him powers? Agathas power scale confuses me so much.

Why did Wanda recognize Ralph Bohner when he showed up at her door? The explanation "Cause magic" would feel so cheap. I seriously don't understand this. Wanda despite her fragile mindset would be like, "Who are you? You don't look like my brother. You don't act like him. He's dead(Wanda definitely knows that internally.) The only thing you both have in common is the superpowers. Y'all move fast." Now if it was Peter Maximoff from another universe I'd assume that Wanda can sense he's her sort-of brother but not really. Almost like somethings a little off....at least that's what I thought, but nope. He's a random person apparently, so there isn't that instinctual connection. So then why the recognition at all?

The alarm. In episode 5 right when Ralph appears at Wandas door some random ass alarm goes off at Swords base outside the hex. Why?? Peter Maximoff fans and myself thought that was him possibly entering the hex somehow. But apparently not...so what was that exactly?? Of course that was never explained.

Ralphs superspeed. So, y'all telling me that Agatha had not only forcibly put a necklace on Ralph to control him to be her "eyes and ears" BUT ALSO gave him LITERAL superpowers?? All of that is completely glossed over. Mf at Marvel will probably say, "Cause Magic" smh.

Jimmys missing guy. There's unfortunately a lot to debunk this theory, but I could still see it being a possibility. Jimmy along with Monica and Darcy all saw the TV when Ralph was on it, but Jimmy never said a word. An interesting point though is the fact that this witness protection person was never brought up again, which is really fucking weird. More shit left unanswered. Could it be "Ralph"? We don't know.

The house. Ralph Bohner is supposedly a struggling actor. At least that's the explanation many have said is the reason as to why he has a random headshot of himself laying about his man cave. But then how does he live in that big ass family home? Plus that house ain't actually Agathas, she came into WestView looking for Wanda to find answers about the hex. That wasn't originally her house. With Ralph looking like the broke ass himbo he is...how could he afford to live there if he supposedly lived as a civilian in that town to begin with??? Make this make sense lol.

Ralph chuckled at his name. Aight aight I know this is a stretch, but hear me out; If you had a dumbass name that sounded weird, you'd probably be used to people making fun of it or saying it wrong, right? You'd maybe even get tired of hearing the silly name your entire life. But when Monica said Ralphs name, he chuckled like one would at their silly fake name and not their real name. That's at least how my dumbass would react to someone saying a funny name I choose for myself. And honestly "Ralph Bohner" truly sounds like a name that Peter would choose lol. Unless WandaVisions writing team said, "Evan, we want you to laugh at your name like you've never heard anyone pronounce Bohner like Boner before." Or maybe Ralph didn't know his own name because he was under Agathas control still...or something.

Why "Ralph Bohner"? K so lets just say we all accept that they stunt casted Evan Peters and he is and always will be a nobody named Ralph Bohner. Marvel knew- no, knows that fans of Evan Peters Quicksilver and the X-Men would get hyped up bout him when they made that glorious reveal in episode 5. So they really dragged that expectation out for 3 weeks, to leave it off on a dick joke? Nah, Marvel/Disney can't be that stupid right?....right?

They gave us some hope and hefty amount of evidence(that isn't listed all here) that Ralph could be Peter Maximoff because of some Multiverse shenanigans....

But then they left it like...this?

Tis very strange of Marvel to think people wouldn't notice how they kinda, sorta baited fans if left like this.

I literally had no crazy theories for this entire show, everything Marvel I take with stride with almost zero expectations...then my boy Evan Peters showed up and my ass finally had some hope to see my comfort character make an appearance in the MCU...which ironically ended in a dick joke. The universe said, "Nah fam, you can't hope for shit lol 🤡"

Anyways, I'd like if this could give some evidence to those still willing to believe that Ralph Bohner is Peter Maximoff. With so many unanswered questions and plot holes with his character, it just feels wrong for him to be nobody...y'know?

Also I'm sorry if this gives you false hope lol.

Now I became selfish and I hope the shard is showing Hanji being saved by Kiyomi or something. She go the worst treatment and if Isayama was afraid of the backslash like you said why make it even worse with those parallels with eremika? Is he preparing the Fandom for another levihan moment? I'm tired of EVERYONE surviving but her, Kiyomi's kindness really??? And Onyankopon, while I don't hate him, he survived a plane crash and he doesn't add much yet he is there for being the editor's favorite, Yelena is there after all she did and she adds even less, and the people titanized will revert to human (or at the very least Isayama's favorites will).

I have absolutely no fucking idea why Yams decided to treat Hanjo like shit. You know, after a long time of denying her death, I was starting to accept it, because she was finally free, free of the burden and pain and finally reunited with the people she missed and longed for the most. But then Yams decided to slap us all in the faces saying there's no happy & peaceful afterlife in snk and Hanjo was probs only hallucinating because of her 4 years long depression? Well then, fuck you Yams! What was that even for? Isayama never backed off of showing us the horrors of death in snk, no matter how important the characters and how brutal their deaths really were. Still, he never showed us Hanji's actual death or dead body. He kept it misterious and his vague answers only made it worse. So it's only natural for us to expect a plot twist, right? That's the reason all of us gathered various hints in the manga, anime and his interviews. And lemme tell you, these theories are far more logical, better explained and have less plot holes than the entire final arc smh (yes I'm salty, fight me lol)

I hate to admit it, my inner self is still in denial and fighting, but Hanjo ain't coming back folks. We won't get any background story and the misterious shard will never be explained to us either. Yams had more than enough time to bring Hanjo back, if he truly wanted to. But he didn't. And now with only one chapter and so many unanswered questions left, there's no time for Hange's return. Why would he even do that anyways? Hanjo isn't important to him or to the story anymore. To us she is, always was and always will be ❤️ You know, I'm so fucking desperate to see her again, I'll even take one last panel of Levi remembering her, just like in ch136. Yams just let us see Hanjo one more fucking time 🙏🏻 I need to say my proper goodbyes to my one&only comfort character, who's influenced my life like no one else ever did ❤️

Back to Levihan (I don't think I can answer an ask without my biased and trashy shipper ass butting in lmfao): the question why Yams confirmed Levihan as canon if he didn't intend to bring Hange back and reunite her with Levi to make us him happy again? Well, isn't it obvious? This man is the devil incarnate. THIS MAN HAS NO FUCKING CHILLS lmfao JK y'all before someone declares war on me and my blog haha Well anonie, I feel like Yams really wanted to confirm his initially planned ships as canon, before the manga ends. And he chose the safest way possible. Easy as that. Also he said he is going for a bittersweet ending and what's more tragic (in this literal hell) than separating lovers, ergo Eremika and Levihan.

Now to something else, that's been bothering me for a while now and I'll use your ask anonie to share my thoughts with the world even though nobody asked lmao tbh I'm a bit disappointed with Armin. I love him, I really do. He's my precious cinnamon roll and my fave 104th kiddo. But honestly, I was expecting a bit more of the alleged "hero who will safe humanity". In fact, I'm sure Hanjo only died for Armin to become the new commander. That's it. That was the reason she had to die. Yams glossed over her to make Armin shine. But in fact, Levi's the one who's giving orders ever since Hange has left them. I might me salty, but I really hope the talk with Zeke (and probs Ymir as well, we still might have a chance to see the dialog that made Ymir change her mind) and his titan nuke weren't the only things he did as "humanity's hero" in this final arc. For some people this might me enough, for me it isn't. It wasn't worth Hange's sacrifice. Also what made me really sad was Armin himself glossing over Hanjo when he remembered Erwin Danchou, but not her. Like she didn't just pass away an hour ago to save their pathetic asses. Ugh this is making me hella mad, ngl. Hanjo didn't deserve this treatment! She gave her all for this! To save the alliance, to "pay the price" for her "sins" as the SC commander and to save humanity. I can't deal with how all of them and the fandom apparently forgot about that.

Now on to "Kiyomi's kindness" lol I wasn't really mad at Gabi for saying this as most of the fandom was. I won't go into detail why she isn't really a rationally thinking character (yo guys, you do remember she's a 12 year old kid, right?), but it's a fact that she didn't care for Hange enough to mention her. I mean, why would she? She barely even knew her. Also we don't really know what's gonna happen with Yelena, Kiyomi and her delegation. I don't know if I'm reading too much into it, but I feel like Kiyomi accepted her death with saying "that's not enough atonement for what I did anyway". I mean they don't know if the alliance will win (they probably think they won't) and they're in the middle of literally nowhere. So I feel like Gabi said that because Kiyomi sacrificed herself (and the others on that ship) willingly, for Gabi, Falco and Annie getting a little chance of surviving and helping the alliance. But I get the rage of the fandom. Especially because no one, except for Levi, remembered Hange after her noble sacrifice.

As for Yelena and Onyankopon, there obviously has to be someone from outside of Paradis to survive the rumbling, otherwise it wouldn't make a lot of sense, I guess. I like Onyankopon a hecking lot ❤️ precious boi was literally crying for Hanjo 😭 Yelena on the other hand deserves what she got. Death would be too easy and kind for her tbh. She has to live with the consequences, just like Kiyomi, so I'm actually glad they survived. So my guess is, it's not really about who's Yams' favorite and what these people are contributing to the story, but it's rather about a logical ending and a good conclusion of the story.

I agree with you about the ones who have been titanized. They'll for sure revert back to humans. It's not really Yams' style to kill of an important character like Gabi, whose character development he's been forcing on us for quite a while now lol. I'm pretty positive about an ending with the titan curse being broken and bringing the titanized people back to human beings (probs also the millions of colossal titans?). It's only natural for Yams to end the story with the titan curse being lifted. Otherwise it wouldn't make sense to end his story at this point. But let's not forget what a big ass troll Yams is lmao you never really know what he's up to, so let's prepare for the unimaginable lmfao

I'll probably never forgive Isayama for what he did to Hange, his best written character, how he completely ruined her and threw her away as disposable, just to make other characters "shine". HER DEATH WAS POINTLESS AND IT DID NOT FUCKING CHANGE ANYTHING! That's the harsh truth y'all. Yams betrayed Hanjo and us AND FOR WHAT?

OKAY!! Here are just some of my thoughts, none of which are uniform lmaooo and are subject to change if I think about it long enough <22 lots of stuff I haven’t completely figured out or reconciled with yet, but here we go

Eren’s death

I wanted him to die, and one way or another, he was destined to die; so this is kind of the ending I asked for.

I wanted him to die for a few reasons, most of which revolve around my desire for him to finally rest and not have to shoulder all the burdens that have been put on him for any longer. So, his death definitely did that for me, and I wouldn’t change it.

BUT it was heartbreaking to see that, for once, he genuinely did not want to die, and wanted to have time to spend with Mikasa after everything. Eren has asked to die multiple times in the past, and his death was inevitable at some point in time; so to see that in his final moments, he finally said/realized he didn’t want to go made it so bittersweet.

The thing I’m happiest about the most is that he achieved his original goal: to kill all the titans. As a titan himself, he was always a part of that plan, so, again I’m okay with his death. But it’s a twisted, beautiful sort of tragedy that in wanting to kill himself to achieve his dream, he found a sense of personhood that made him think life was worth living [even if his goal wasn’t achieved].

Another important reason I believed he needed to/should have died is because I didn’t want him to have to suffer at the hands of any other government or empire again. Even if none of the shit with Marley or the other nations happened, and he found away to “free” everyone without murder, the government of Paradis wouldn’t have trusted him. They never really did.

Eren has been locked up and/or under constant supervision since he was 15. And when he wasn’t, it’s because he was kidnapped and somebody else was preying on his death. Even when he desperately pleaded to help and showed that he wanted to use his titan to help, he was treated like a criminal, and less than human.

You can’t... you can’t treat a kid like that and expect him to turn out normal 😭😭 or to not want to go to extremes, or to become a pacifist, or to spinelessly hand over his own life and ambitions. (Honestly... think he should have started with murking a few people in Wall Sina, but whatever 🙄)

This is all to say, that if he continued to live, free of the 13 year curse, he wouldn’t have been free in any nation. He probably would have been executed, or at the very least, locked up until he died. So, I’m happy that he was able to die at his own hand (and Mikasa’s, too).

Eren’s character

I obviously still love his character, and I don’t think his actions in the final season ruined him for way. There’s a lot to come to terms with, but I like that about him. I’ll work through all the details one day, and I’m okay with that. In fact, I don’t think Eren even ever got the chance to figure himself out independent of his titan.

His secret keeping was questionable, but not out of character. He’s always ruminated until he figures something out, or gets stuck and needs help—he’s always had the whole thing about doing everything on his own.

Until that one conversation with him, Mikasa, and Armin after the fight with Jean in s3. I’d always read that as him beginning to understand that he didn’t have to everything on his own, and that he was going to be relying on his friends from thereon out. But, sometimes, I feel like that realization got erased...? I don’t know, maybe the more I think about it, the more it’ll make sense, but that’s one part I’m still working through.

The only other thing I didn’t understand is how he got so smart LMAOOO. His plan and actions required quite a bit of thought, foresight, and sacrifice that he’s never really shown before; at least not to this degree. Like I said though, if you factor in how his was treated, and how his life always had an expiration date, it begins to make sense why he was so quick and insistent to act, so it’s not completely out of left field for me—and I could even make the argument that he wasn’t really that smart and was just as impulsive (ish) and hot-headed as he’s always been; but like I said, I’m still figuring it out. Not sure what it was that awakened his braincells but I’ll get there LMAOOO

Eren + Mikasa

Fuck y’all I like Eremika goodnight. I can’t help it, I’m a simple bitch: I see childhood friends to lovers, and I fold. You should too smh.

I... don’t think the little cottagecore timeline from 138 was out of character for either of them. I see the arguments that it was, and that’s cool, but I see it as something very real and plausible.

Eren showed that he did all of this to ensure that even if he couldn’t bring peace to the whole world, at the very least, he could do his best to make sure his friends live long, happy lives. An alternate way for that would have been to give Mikasa the opportunity to spend his remaining years with him.

Eren has always done his best Mikasa and Armin, even if his methods seemed harsh or apathetic. The way I see it, running away with Mikasa in his final year is not only becoming and telling of the kind of friend/person his is, but it would have been his way to atone for being an idiot and not acting upon his feelings [in a more traditional sense] earlier.

He knew either way it was too late, but he also knew that he owed her—and himself—even a piece of peace before it all ended, whichever way it was going to end. And I think that’s a part of Eren’s character that’s often overlooked.

Mikasa’s ending

I think that Eren ultimately killed himself, but it’s undeniable that Mikasa helped, and I’m glad she did. If Eren was going to die by anybody’s hands, I wanted it to be Mikasa’s or Levi’s.

I think Levi would have been symbolic, given his speech in the courtroom in s1, about how killing Eren is the best he could do, and that there was no in-between. But I’m happy with Mikasa doing it too, because, in a way, I think she ended up being able to do the one thing Levi didn’t have the physical strength left to do. I also like it as far as Mikasa’s relationship with Levi goes; she kind of becomes him in this complicated way, and it shows how far they’ve come in terms of trust. They’re a pretty good team.

I don’t see why anyone would give her shit for sitting at Eren’s gravestone. It had been only three years since he died, and regardless of the amount of time that had passed, if it was the anniversary of his death, that’s a perfectly normal thing to do...? So many people hate her for being in love Eren and I don’t get it. She’s just mourning, and she’s well within her rights to do so.

Actually, I think that Mikasa being shown to have loved and mourned for Eren so outwardly were the most profound displays of bravery in this whole series.

It takes so much courage to love, especially in her world, but Mikasa has never shied away from it. I would even go so far as to argue that she is the character with the strongest sense of self and self-worth. I don’t think people realize how much it takes to know anything about yourself that assuredly—so many characters are left with unanswered questions about their world, themselves, and their place in it—but Mikasa has always known that she loves Eren.

That’s an insanely hard thing to know and to do. And she wasn’t blind about it either, nor did she believe her love was unconditional (and if she gets shit for having hope for Eren, then so should Armin, but we know why he doesn’t get the same heat for it). She heard out the concerns of her friends, she let go of the scarf, and she killed him in the end.

I would have liked to see her talk to Kiyoomi again, and perhaps see her being associated with that nation/country/whatever it was. But she’s still thee baddest bitch and the best girl.

Levi

WE IN THIS BITCH!! WE ABSOLUTELY IN THIS BITCH!!

ROUND OF APPLAUSE LADIES AND GAYS AND THEYS FOR THE MAN, THE MYTH, THE LEGEND HIMSELF!!

If he died, I would have rioted. On god.

This is the EXACT ending I wanted for him. I’m so happy that he gets time to rest knowing that none of his decision were in vain; and that he shouldn’t regret anything he did.

l know the wheelchair was literal in the sense that he was injured, but I also think it’s metaphorical in that he no longer has to standing on his own two feet, and carry everyone on his back. For once, for fucking once, he can literally sit back and read a fucking book in peace.

Also Gabi and Falco taking care of him is so fucking cute, I loved that so, so, so much.

Others

I don’t think Hange needed to die, goodbye. I get why they did, and I’m glad they went out in a way they wanted do, but that doesn’t mean I’m happy about it BYE.

Pieck is far too sexy for her titan to have been that ghastly. Porco, too. Speaking of Porcupine, I fucking love him. I didn’t think I would like him this much, but I do, and now I miss him.

When did Connie get so s*xy

I stand by the belief that this wouldn’t have happened with Erwin around—and for the worse. Yes, I think Hange waited longer than they should have to act; but I understand they were overwhelmed, and had a lot of responsibility, and regret, clouding over them.

That being said, I think Erwin would have been 10x worse LMFAO with all his secret keeping and mystery. With all the shit going on, all the information being revealed to Paradis, and with Eren’s own secret keeping, I don’t think Erwin’s character and way of planning would have been conducive the new environment. RIP tho Erwin, you a legend for the shit you did, big ups on that my guy.

I... guys, I like Reiner. Like, a lot. What goes on.

I still hate H*storia and I think she caused a lot of problems that could have been resolved relatively quickly if she left 😐😐 yeah, yeah, girl power or whatever, but I don’t like it. I don’t like her. Bye.

I have more thoughts on Marley and the other nations, but that’s a whole separate rant that I will spare you from for now

Okay Well... Spoilers ahead.

Wow Okay... So no Doctor Strange or any Avengers! Although the second end credit scene will most likely have something do with DRS2.

Why is Wanda reading that book?! Clearly Agatha's Evil ass was using it! So it ain't good foolio!! Lol

Oh & Wanda's new outfit is EVERTHING!!!! I love it!!

Fietro is just Ralph Bohner. Smh Lol I rather have had the name been just Evan peters. Lol What a waste!! But how did Agatha give him powers? I really hope that isn't the last time we see Peters.

Agatha isn't dead. But just stuck as the noisy neighbor. Either someone will help her escape... Or she'll just stay trapped? She did tell Wanda the spell she did can't be unbroken.

From the second end credit scene... The boys are still around. But where? What is Wanda going to do?

Where did White Vision go after he got the real vision's memories back? He knows everything now. Will he be the one to stop Wanda in Doctor Strange 2? Cause again... from that last scene. She's going to do something Strange will have to fix.

Monica saving the boys was a great scene. Also the first end credit scene... Monica is meeting Nick Fury soon. I'm guessing she'll be in that the Secret Invasion show. that show will most likely lead into Caption Marvel 2. I just can't wait to see Monica really use her powers.

The battle between Wanda & Agatha was great. It was awesome to see Wanda out smart her. I have a feeling this won't be the last time we see them fight.

This show was more of a origin story than anything else. I'm not mad at it... But I still have a lot of unanswered questions.

Over all I enjoyed this show so much!!! Now bring on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier!!

BIOGRAPHY:

her mother always knew she was gonna make her prematurely grow white hair. she’d known since the day she was born, but she was sure of it the one time she took her to church & when the priest said ‘we shall pray’, hers was the only voice resonating in the silent halls — why ? why, why, always looking for answers. she’d be happy when given reasonable ones, but knew her way around the answers she didn’t like. her brothers called her a smartass, & momma yelled when they’d say that, but they laughed & she did too. she’d follow them everywhere, letting them teach her foul words as well as how to punch people who pissed her off. she asked why to everything, & they had answers no adult ever had. it drove her parents insane, sometimes. each time she got grounded they found a way to sneak you out, & her dad, the general, one day just gave up — do whatever the hell you want, he said, just don’t get in trouble. she still does, sometimes, but for right causes only. she never understood trouble for trouble’s sake.

she was a good kid, when not actively antagonizing her teachers. she loved science — other subjects not as much, but she got by. general levey would have to make his peace with that. and detention wasn’t that bad, anyway. in the school library she met a boy — one year older but he looked even further out from the school’s elite than she was. arthur had kind eyes and a warm smile. she liked wasting her time with him, and for the first time, she didn’t feel like asking why.

they talked — a lot. both outcasts from the core group of cool kids they’d never be a part of, but they signed an unspoken pact to survive high school together. she’d say she hated this place enough to say she’d want to go far, far away, to the end of the world — he’d just smile and say hey, i’d follow you there.

but she wasn’t joking, no. johnny, the eldest of the levey children, straight out of college decided he’d join the army. why, she asked, & he had an endless list of reasons. she ended up being convinced, too. the general was proud of this, her mother not so much. can’t you be like jeremy, go study biology instead ? she didn’t get it — johnny did. she had a fire burning inside, like she had to do something, had to stand up for what was right. at eighteen she thought that meant believing in patriotism & joining the army, so she followed johnny & enrolled.

she was never one for goodbyes, so she left quickly; no good with words, so there was no heartfelt letter for arthur, just a scribbled out note saying she’d be back soon.

but ‘soon’ turns to years, and it’s hard, rough years that take the spark from her eyes. she’d ask ‘why’ too many times — why are we bombing this village ? why are we shooting civillians ? most of the time, she found enough answers to outweigh the questions, but at night, staring wide-eyed at the top of her tent, she felt a part of herself dying.

but a part of her survived. january 2003, new cadets came in and there was a face she feared she was starting to forget — the same kind eyes, the same warm smile. didn’t i say i’d follow you to the end of the world ?, he says. the ‘why’ was on her lips but she didn’t ask — he had a superpower, that kid, the only one who could ever leave matty the smartass speechless. & she held on to him. in nights where this job made her stomach turn, she held on to that smile. when the part of her that was dying shrieked in agony, she hid in a tent with him & pretended they were back in that shithole of a town, pretended they were kids again, the bombs were just fireworks, the same old new year’s eve in the same old desperate neighborhood.

but new year’s eve came and took johnny away. a raid gone wrong, and the eldest of the levey children dies a war hero. she was desperate, she broke her hand punching walls, begging for answers ‘cause it made no fucking sense — but why was never met with a reason, what went wrong remained unanswered. the part of her that was dying, it almost gave up — so she had to go back. it felt like defeat, like there were a million questions that would never get an answer. but arthur came home too, & she held on to him — to his quiet strength that was nothing like her violent ways, to the reasons he’d find without demanding an answer with planted feet. over time, she healed. thanks to him, she healed. one year later they were married — nobody on the whole planet would ever have expected her to settle down, but she did, & god, she was happy. she got a new job that allowed her to do more good & less harm within the swat team of the fbi — arthur joined the fbi as well, and this new version of her life started fitting her much better.

she missed johnny all the fucking time, but she learned how to handle the grief in healthy ways and avoid punching walls. she found comfort in the family she’d once disregarded, she learned how to allow herself the softness of love & the warmth of affection. her parents, her other brother — they had been grieving too, and they warmed up each other with memories of the leveys’ golden boy.

and then cassie came along. unexpected, unscripted, but a blessing either way — she had her father’s eyes and her mother’s frown, the same curious look when asking for answers, but thank god none of matt’s aggression. it felt like a movie, this new life; the happy ending after a long, tiring journey. a pill of happiness that made her dizzy. but this wasn’t a movie, this was real life, and real life meant a job that put her on the front line every day. she could retire, she could be a stay-at-home mom — as if she could settle for that. she loved, she would’ve given her life for her, but she knew giving up her job would mean die a little, and do her wrong, too. there were things she wanted to teach her child, how to have faith in yourself & stand up for what you believe in — but that was where she and her husband began arguing. two different views clashing, two opinions, however correct they may have been — incompatible, despite theri best intentions. she started doubting him and his reasons. once upon a time she’d used to hang from every word he’d say, a blind faith in all he was — but now was the time to ask, why ? why should she give up a job that saves people, that protects human beings like cassie or him ? why should putting a child in the world be a curse, & not a blessing ? why, why, why ? why is her marriage falling apart this quickly ?

they divorced after cassie’s sixth birthday. she was a smart kid, she figured it out — in a way she seemed to understand, but matt knew she was gonna have some apologies to make, when she’d be older. meanwhile she’d fight. she began working harder. she tried to prove to anyone that she wasn’t an asshole— that she was still a good mother, that this wasn’t her fault, that she could be a mother & an agent & save people & still make it home in time for dinner.

she could feel arthur’s blame on her every time they crossed their gazes at work.she didn’t hate him, and she didn’t think he did, either — but something was broken there and she couldn’t help but wonder, was she really that good at her job, if she could save everyone but couldn’t save herself from this ?

cassie needed him ( matt did, too ), so they settle around a new routine. joined custody, a truce of sorts. a compromise — & she didn’t ask why anymore. growing up, she learned, meant accepting that sometimes things just happen without a reason.

people die, children are born, marriages fall apart, & divorced parents can still stay together. either way, the world goes on. thinking about it, that might be the best reason of them all.

then a chance appeared — a task force revolving around gang activities in utah. not the gig she’d been dreaming of, but a chance to do some real good, put an end to a spiral of traffics that couldn’t seem to be stopped. she looked at her life in shambles — her depression settling in, the strained relationship with her ex husband, the fear, the constant fear for a daughter they brought into a world that’s made of ravenous beasts. the choice was easy. one day she got to work, called arthur into a separate room and let him know she was leaving. how long?, he asked. she didn’t know. that part, that was the one that hurt the most.

for a while, her job was the same as before — kicking doors, rescuing people recovering drugs. the need for family, a crippled vein that ached in her heart every passing day, found some sort of relief in the company of the rookie they assigned her, whose name was arlo but she soon found pleasure in calling kid. though she’d cut herself out of the only place she could ever really call home, matt just had to keep moving.

the chance to go undercover presented itself as a temptation. it would be a dangerous job, her daughter might remain an orphan — yet she took it, for she wasn’t happy unless she was on the front lines, really putting her life on the line. joining the bandits as dylan harker, thirty-eight, was somewhat easy— pretending to be a good-for-nothin’ mother who’d left a child behind to pursue a life chasing bullets, well, that came easy. far too fucking easy.

three years later, she’s been doing her job so well she’s getting results in. they might actually get a chance at taking these guys down — except one day there’s a reckoning with the other guys, their rival gang, the unfazed, and there’s a familiar face among their ranks, the kid now grown enough to be put into her same position, just on the other side of it. it’s enough to drive her mad, call her superiors and ask what the fuck are you doing?

after arlo came mona, and though she would've loved to say she was smarter than growing attached, she began finding a sense of family again, the kind she so sorely missed. mona, rookie cop on her same task force, became a sort of daughter — and arlo, god. if he was a son, he was being the kind that would break her heart.

little by little, she has to begin coping with danger. that danger is not just what she puts herself in every day. danger is the chance to lose the people she loves. danger is when she can’t protect them anymore. danger is her daughter being on the other side of the states, not knowing whether she even has a mother anymore. danger is her protegée exposed, exactly as she is, to the ugliest face of the world. danger is a feeling that keeps her up at night: perhaps this time she won’t make it out alive.

What happened to Sangwoo’s parents: the ultimate theory

Y’all I think Koogi just gave us all the information we needed to know what the fuck happened to Sangwoo’s parents. Let me explain:

Upon seeing the panel above I was immediately reminded of a scene from chapter 21. Remember when Sangwoo freaked out after noticing he was bleeding from his mouth? In today’s chapter we see a close-up of the foaming mouth of Sangwoo’s father. Did you notice what was lying right beside his body? (hint: the rat poison makes its comeback!)

Then we see Bum’s bloody mouth, followed by Sangwoo thinking about how he doesn’t want to die like his father. I don’t think it was a coincidence. For the first time in this season it looks like a chapter actually connects with something that happened in the previous seasons lmao.

Long story short: Eunseo tries to poison Sangwoo’s dad, he notices and beats her up (please don’t fucking forget that the abuse has been going on for years and it’s not a result of this incident thank you very much), Sangwoo shows up, Eunseo tries to ask for help and Sangwoo’s dad trips (or faints because of the poison?) and hits his head with the table. “Does he die on the spot?”, you ask. Hell nah! And let me tell you why.

We are going back to chapter 21. Sangwoo’s in a full-blown panic mode because he's bleeding and suddenly he hallucinates with a faceless man who’s running in front of his car, like he’s trying to escape from something... or someone. Why yes, I think that man was Sangwoo’s father! That bitch managed to survive hitting his head and the rat poison, which at this point we can all agree wasn’t exactly a very strong one. He was probably lying unconscious in the back seat (mentioned in chapter 21 too!) and Sangwoo and his mother were driving to the mountains in order to bury his body. Then the dad wakes up and tries to run away, because I doubt he’s dumb enough to think they were going on a happy family trip lmao.

So, this fucker runs in front of the car (bad idea) and Sangwoo, panicking, goes “broom broom motherfucker” over him. So yeah. He didn’t die because Sangwoo stabbed him. He didn’t die because Eunseo poisoned him. He didn’t die because he hit his head. He was just runned over by a car asdfgh. After that, they finally bury his body (chapter 21, teen Sangwoo is seen carrying a man aka his dad covered by a jacket).

Sangwoo seems to be triggered by the image of stuff coming out of his mouth, probably because it reminds him of the poison incident.

Now, all this still leaves another question unanswered: why the fuck did they talk about a double homicide in S1? Oooh boy, this is where stuff gets juicy!

I’m 100% sure Eunseo was trying to get rid of the father in order to live with her lover (can’t blame her lmao but that sure is a long ass affair tho). My girl brings her new man to the house and Sangwoo, who actually loved his father despite him being abusive, loses his shit and kills them both.

After that Sangwoo be like “bitch what the hell is this shit???? well you know what from now on i’m killing woman because they remind me of my mother #smh y’all a bunch of sluts don’t you dare to judge me because i’m TrAumAtIzeD!!11!!1!”.

This also could explain why SeungBABE says they found the body of who they suppose was Sangwoo father. It wasn’t his father, binch!!! His father was already dead and buried. That dude was the lover.

Honestly I’m not a fan of the whole “Evil Woman™” trope that’s going on, but we’ll leave that for another post. 💅

Fave Moments:

Ch 5. Karen Chance mentions Marlowe dropping in to visit Mircea at Tony’s in chapter five!!! WHAT.

Ch 8. “You are not human.” It wasn’t a question. 💯 (fave quote)

Ch 9. The men all waiting for Cassie to come out of the bath really makes me laugh. Just imagining all those powerful men like, she wants to clean herself so we have to wait. *Elevator music plays.

Ch. 12. Mircea’s ooc sex scene: So I’ve thought about this a lot. More than is healthy, probably. But maybe...from his POV...he has just learned his little Pythian candidate has paid off! And is sexually attracted to him?!? Well, I guess he figures it’s now time make his gambit and whore himself out in order to save his brother and wife in the future. It was probably even a little bit of a let down that this part of history was repeating itself. Him + sexing up a Pythia hasn’t worked before but at least this one is embedded in his family. It can’t hurt to try again. He has been using his body and seduction in his pursuit and has been acting way more like an incubus than our favorite half demon most of the time. He says “had I known...I would have arranged something more appropriate” meaning her robe outfit but also I think, the entire affair/seduction. He’s acting strange because - it’s an act. This has been something he’s put on for hundreds of years (smh still hurting over that). I think he eventually realizes that Cassie doesn’t want an act or simply orgasms. He has to actually become invested (explaining his more genuine/ttc sex scenes later) before she gives in (and the geis does a lot of that work for them). Plus, I mean, speaking as a completely objective third-party observer with absolutely no personal interest in the matter, I think it’s just a sexy scene. Sex sells, baby.

Also - According to Mircea, Marlowe thinks she might have as devious a mind as him and can’t wait to meet Cassie. Just a fun line from this chapter.

MVP: Tomas for being sexy as hell in his mesh top. And for being touched that Cassie still cares that his face was burned. And for being naive enough to think he could keep Cassie safe if he aligned with Rasp and Tony. [I’m surprised you guys didn’t say ‘Billy’ for finally stopping that Mircass sex sesh]

Unanswered Questions: Was Mircea upset with the idea of LC and Cassie because he planned him to be his daughter’s boyfriend?

Why did we stop calling the mages dark and white knights? I kinda liked that.

Unpopular Opinion: I don’t hate Mircea (at least not in this book). I think he’s hot. I think them discovering their sexual attraction in book one is compelling. It’s so bold and unexpected for them both. They’re in this room with all these other powerful beings who are probably thinking ‘wtf there’s more important stuff going on.’ Rafe is uncomfortable, Pritkin is disgusted, Tomas is jealous, LC is um, there. I know what Mircea is doing is problematic, but in this book he’s honestly the one who treats her best. LC is a goof who acts like she’s a complete wimp. Rafe is probably in a weaker position than she is and sees her as his little Mia Stella anyway. Tomas has been feeding on her without permission making him very possessive and has been in cahoots with the enemy. Pritkin is trying to kill her, calls her and her mother a ho, etc. Mircea is the only one who comes close to seeing her as an equal and is the only one who actually gives her information about her past and the Pythian position (granted it is difficult for her to get it out of him). It makes sense that she finds herself drawn to him, childhood crush or no.

I do think he was grooming her to be a servant like any vampire would to any potential asset in order to create a loyal servant, but not as a sex partner. He says something like, “you were mine since you were 11” and he carries her around like a swaddled baby for almost an entire chapter so I can definitely see the ick factor although I do tend to think he sees her as a trinket/service/a surprise tool that will help him later. I think the interest he was socked with was genuine, despite being geised and despite his ulterior motives. All that being said, I’m still super mad at him and disillusioned with his character (as much as I was rooting for Pritkin, what Mircea did to Cassie - I took that shit personally).

❝ But before I go, remember one thing, promise me one thing: be brave when you’re afraid. ❞ Albus Potter, Alfie Enoch ( Adopted ), Sixteen, Incoming Sixth Year, Slytherin, Cis-male, Halfblood, He/him

I. [DEATH TW] Albus was adopted by Ginny and Harry when he was only one. His birth parents, a young half-blood couple from London, were murdered in their home one night when Albus was just a baby; the result of a past relationship gone wrong. Whether Albus was left alive because he was merely a child or because the murderer didn’t realise he was asleep upstairs is a question that remains unanswered, but when the Auror team arrived in the early morning hours, led by Harry Potter, his cries from the upstairs’ nursery was the only sound in the otherwise silent house. The scene was one that hit a bit too close to home for Harry, and after discovering that Albus had no other living relatives that could take him in and that he’d likely be sent to an orphanage, the idea of adopting him took root in his heart.

At the time, Ginny was already pregnant with Lily, but they decided fairly quickly that adopting him was something they truly wanted to do, and they began to foster Albus soon thereafter, with the adoption officially going through after Lily was born. Once it became official, he was named Albus Remus Potter, after two of the men that had impacted Harry’s life. Although a part of Albus was naturally curious about his birth parents as he grew up --- what were they like, how would his life look like now if they were still alive, would he have been an only child --- he never once wished to change the way his life turned out, and considers being adopted by the Potters to have been the best thing to have ever happened to him [END DEATH TW].

With both his older brother and several of his extended family members being adopted too, Albus never struggled with the thought of not being related to his family members by blood, but has always and will always consider himself to be a true part of the family. It was hard to believe anything but, when his relatives were living proof that there was much more to family than a simple biological connection. Although Albus is a bit too cynical to fully believe in concepts such as fate or destiny ( and likely wouldn’t admit it out loud, for fear of sounding too cheesy ), that is still how he considers his life with the Potters: it’s simply where he was always meant to be.

Albus is very grateful for the family he has and his childhood growing up, surrounded by love and laughter. Although the attention from the media could be exhausting to deal with, the support and love he’s always received from from his family far outweighs it. There’s nothing more he enjoys than spending time with his family, and the often playful, witty, and sarcastic conversations that take place between them as a result. He’s always willing to be there for his siblings when they need him, and he’s very close to both his parents, but especially Harry who he often turns to for support when he’s struggling with something. He’s especially grateful to have been adopted into such an extensive family, as he loves all his cousins, aunts, and uncles more than anything, and wouldn’t trade them for the world.

II. Albus has always been a very ambitious, resourceful, hard-working, and somewhat self-preserving person --- some of the main reasons why he was sorted into Slytherin. Settling on his career goal as Minister for Magic at such an early age and determined to work hard from an early age in order to achieve it, it came as little surprise that he was sorted into Slytherin house to his family and friends, and he’s never lost the drive or motivation to achieve it, always prioritising his studies ( and using any opportunity he can to make a classic Al PowerPoint ). Despite being one of the more studious and responsible people in his family --- certainly one of the less troublemaking kids, always trying to keep them from getting into too much trouble themselves --- he likes to consider himself as a bit of fun too, having inherited his parents’ sarcasm and wit, always here to tease those around him. He’s charismatic and friendly, always ready to give those around him a helpful hand should they need it ( but likely with a classic Potter Eye-roll at the ready too, should it be something foolish ). At his very core, though, is a good heart, guiding his ambitions and choices in life. His desire to become Minister has little to do with a desire for power, and everything to do with wanting to help those around him. He’s cynical, worry-prone, hypocritical, and easily worries for hours over things he really shouldn’t --- noticing the imperfections in the world more readily than the things that are good and hopeful and motivating. While he can certainly be a bit more bitter and negative than some of his relatives, though, he doesn’t let those qualities in him allow him to lose hope or rule him: instead it motivates him to want to do better, to change the world like his parents and older relatives, to make a positive difference with his life. Albus considers his family members some of the best people he’s ever met, admiring their kindness and bravery, and tries to learn from them and let that motivate him to do good in life, too. Although as he’s grown older he’s struggled less with the thought of living up to their family’s legacy, he still just wants to make them proud, more so out of the love and admiration of his family than from pressure he puts on himself.

III. Although many kids latch onto lofty dreams like becoming an astronaut or an Auror or a musician while they are young before changing their minds and considering other, equally sensational options, once Albus declared that he was going to become the Minister for Magic when he grew up, his decision seemed to be firmly made. An observant child, Albus grew up with a lot of interest in learning more about how the world he lived in worked, taking a particular interest in the politics of the Wizarding World, and especially the areas in which it was lacking. Somewhat cynical, it was easy for him to identify the problems of the Wizarding World ( such as the prevailing prejudice against werewolves despite efforts taken to improve their status ), even while acknowledging how far the Wizarding World has come since his parents were young. A lot of the Wizarding World’s improvements since his parents’ youth can be said to be thanks to Kingsley Shacklebolt’s work as Minister, and from a young age Al has thus held a deep rooted respect and admiration for the man. Although he has his fair share of idols ( such as his long standing celebrity crush on Gonçalo Flores ), Albus considers Kingsley to be one of his biggest role models, and hopes to one day be able to live up to him. Despite his ambitious plans for the future, Albus more than anyone is aware of how much he needs to learn and how much maturing he needs to do before he is anywhere near prepared to be Minister, but it’s a long road he is willing to take and work he’s motivated to put in, starting already in Hogwarts with keeping up good grades and obtaining a summer internship at the Ministry. Although Albus would describe his motivation to become Minister one day as coming from his cynical and somewhat perfectionistic nature, it’s really just comes from his desire to make the world a little bit better than when he entered it. Albus has a good heart and a good head on his shoulders, and he wants to use that to make a real difference to help those around him.

Is your character involved in any summer programs? Do you wish for your character to be a Prefect, Head Student, or a member of the Quidditch team?: I’d love it if Albus could be a Prefect & the Keeper on the Slytherin Quidditch team, as well as part of the summer internship in the Offices for the Minister for Magic.

Prefect: I think Albus would be a good choice for Prefect since he’s a hard-working, responsible, and social student. He has put a lot of work into his grades since year one, always making sure to give each assignment his all so he can finish each year with top grades, and he’s always enjoyed taking on a lot of responsibility. He’s probably volunteered a lot in class when the professors needed additional help from students, and he’s grown quite familiar with trying to keep some of his more troublemaking relatives in check so they don’t get into too much trouble with the professors. I imagine him being fairly well-liked by his peers since he’s an all around friendly and social person, so I could see the professors considering him to be a suitable choice for Prefect since he’d work hard to live up to the role and maintain the school rules, and there’s a good chance his peers might actually listen to and respect him as a Prefect ( well, at least he hopes lmao ).

Keeper: Albus has been an active Quidditch player since he was a kid, growing up playing games with both his immediate and extended family. I imagine him joining the Slytherin team in his second year, and that he has been a Keeper for them since then. However, if someone has already applied for the position and seems to be a more suitable choice, I could see him as a Seeker or Chaser as well. Keeper is my preferred position for him ( mostly because he wants to make the lamest jokes about being a ‘keeper’ even though he runs from romance smh ) but I’m happy with him being on the team in any extent tbh!!

Internship: When Albus read about the internship being offered working with one of his role models, he immediately became nearly obsessed with getting a spot for the internship. Holding such deep respect and admiration for Kingsley, the opportunity to work in his offices for the summer was an opportunity he didn’t dare pass up; doing everything he could to reach it. Especially since his goal is to one day be Minister himself, it would be the perfect internship for him. Albus is a very hard-working, resourceful, and ambitious student ( part of the reason why he was sorted into Slytherin in the first place ), and has worked hard enough in his classes that he has top grades in all of his subjects. That in addition to his ( possible ) responsibilities as Prefect, his future ambitions, and the extensive work he put into his application would make him a suitable choice for the internship in the offices for the Minister for Magic.

Complete Recap, Details & Thought Starters [1x1 “Secrets”]

Sliding everything under the cut so as not to expose anyone to spoilers…

RECAP

Damn. The first scenes of this damn pilot got me. You’ve got a man (Michael) hanging himself with an eerily specific suicide note left beside what we’d assume is a family portrait… Then you have a boy (Jonas) waking with a start, in a cold sweat, downing pills, clearly distraught… and then a bit later, Jonas’ mom is straight up fucking some guy (Ulrich) while Jonas is trying to decide what the hell he can salvage out of the fridge for breakfast… uh, WOAH.

Needless to say, I knew within minutes that this show was gonna be a wild ride.

Next, you’ve got an intro to Peter Doppler, who is apparently Jonas’ therapist, taking a walk with Jonas in the woods checking in on how he’s been doing these past few months since his father’s passed. Jonas has a breakdown of sorts (poor baby) about how many unanswered questions his father’s passing have left him with.

We meet Ulrich’s family next and they’ve got what feels like a quirky if not a tad bit tense family dynamic. It’s a bit fun at first glance. There’s Ulrich (fresh from another woman’s bed and a jog through the woods), his wife Katharina, daughter Martha (who seems to be a bit of a social activist), older son Magnus (brooding bad boy?), and youngest son Mikkel who is just too stinkin’ adorable with his skeleton PJ’s and his magic tricks.

Jonas goes to school and has a short exchange with his friend Bartosz Tiedemann, wondering if Bart told anyone that he’s been away getting treatment for the past couple of months, and Bart lets him know that the lie he’s spread is that Jonas was away in Paris on an exchange program playing “hide the baguette”. (L O L)

Next, Ulrich walks into the police station and we learn that he’s an officer. Erik Obendorf’s parents are there raising up a stink about their missing boy. They feel like the police haven’t done enough to investigate and both Ulrich and another officer, Charlotte Doppler (Peter’s wife), are fighting to calm them down.

A mysterious figure emerges out of a cave wearing a black, hooded coat!!!

Cut back to the high school where Magnus, brooding bad boy that he is, is skipping class, smoking a joint. Franziska Doppler (Peter & Charlotte’s daughter) happens upon him and they exchange some barbs. “Shouldn’t you be inside with the geeks?” is Magnus’ first thought and Franz comes back with a cool, “Should the son of the principal be smoking a joint in school… especially such shit weed” after taking a hit. And so maybe she’s not much of a geek at all, huh? ;-)

Back inside school, there’s an assembly and Jonas and Bart are waiting in their seats when Martha walks in. Jonas smiles at her so big that my heart almost bursts but Martha is giving him a look that reads “oh, shit…”. Jonas looks downright horrified when Bart and Martha kiss and Bart takes her hand. Martha looks clearly uncomfortable and then asks Jonas “how was France?” which makes it obvious that they haven’t talked in some time. Martha’s mom, Katharina, comes up on the stage to start the pep rally, begging the kids to come forward if they know anything about Erik’s disappearance, while Jonas can’t tear his eyes away from Bart and Martha’s joined hands… This is a moment, right here, y’all. I want to delve deeper into it. I will, too. You’ve been warned.

At the station, Charlotte and Ulrich are talking about Erik’s disappearance, too. She seems convinced that this is connected to Ulrich’s brother Mads and has a deeper meaning, which is interesting. Ulrich thinks not, and seems to think that Erik may have just run away of his own volition.

There’s a gorgeous, lavish-looking Hotel Winden and Regina Tidemann’s (Bart’s mama) at the front desk taking a call from the bank, begging for a deferment on payments. Evidently business isn’t going well, due to the disappearance of Erik (because who wants to vacation in a town where a kids’ just gone missing?… But honestly, I think the bigger question is who wants to vacation in a town with a nuclear plant? I mean, Amiright!?)

Bart and Jonas are in class and Bart’s somehow found out that Erik left his stash of drugs in the Winden Caves before his disappearance. Bart thinks their crew should go snatch it. Jonas seems to think that’s crazy…

Now, Ulrich’s visiting his mother, Jana, who apparently he hasn’t seen in a while. She’s seen something in the woods again. “A dark figure with a gigantic looking head”. But Debby Downer Ulrich doesn’t believe her. She’s also found a candy bar wrapper in the woods and it was Mad’s favorite candy…

Then there’s older Helge Doppler (Peter’s dad, Charlotte’s father in law), staring off into space in a haunting scene, chanting “it’s gonna happen again.”

Okay, creepy scene alert! Here’s where the show catapults us into this strange little room - the brightest scene that we’ve seen by far, totally contrasting the dark, gloominess of Winden - where “you spin me right ‘round” in all it’s 80′s glory is playing on an old box TV and the missing kid, Erik, is laying on a bunk bed looking… concerned. Worse, there’s a super terrible looking chair-thing in the center of the room…

Then we get The Squad in the school hallway. Jonas and Bart meet up with Magnus and Martha (and Bart and Martha kiss… again… poor Jonas) and they go back over the plan to steal Erik’s drugs from the caves that night to smoke some of and sell the rest. Oh and Franz and Magnus have another awkwardly tense run in, too… there’s a story brewing up in there there, btw. And we need more of it. Jonas is the deciding voice, eventually, with his definitive “Okay, let’s go to the caves tonight.” And that seems to be all the group needs to hear to decide to move on it.

Back at the Nielsen house, Katharina is cleaning up (But is school over already? Why isn’t she there? She’s the principal… right?) and finds what we’d assume is another woman’s hair on Ulrich’s sweatshirt. It’s the same sweatshirt he pulled on after sleeping with Hannah that morning so like.. we know it’s hers. Katharina sniffs the sweatshirt, too. For good measure. She’s definitely suspicious… and for hella good reason, smh.

Hannah’s at work in the nuclear plant as a masseuse and she’s massaging Aleksander Tiedemann (Regina’s husband, Bart’s dad). Aleks seems a little melancholy over the fact that the nuclear plant is closing soon. Apparently it’s been almost 33 years to the day since he first came to Winden.

Ines Kahnwald enters now (Michael’s mom, Jonas’ grandma), sitting in a doomy gloomy living room, receiving a voicemail from an angry Hannah about how Jonas hasn’t seen Ines in months and how the power in Hannah and Jonas’ house is out again and how, according to Hannah, Ines is “sick”. Ines doesn’t seem that bothered by Hannah specifically, though. She’s all about the “suicide note” that Michael left behind which she’s got in an ornate little box, at the living room table, staring anxiously at the clock over her shoulder, waiting for it to be after 10:13pm.

Trifling Hannah show’s up at the town meeting at the high school and hugs Katharina who may suspect Ulrich is up to something but clearly doesn’t suspect it’s with Hannah. Hell, they seem to be friends because Katharina hugs Hannah, asks how she’s doing, gives her a warm smile…

Cut to The Squad meeting up in the woods to grab those drugs. Jonas and Martha are there first and they have an exchange - Martha giving something like an apology for this thing she’s got with Bart now. Apparently she wrote Jonas a couple of texts while he was away but was scared to send them because of how Jonas’ dad died last summer. Somehow the texts felt “wrong”. Jonas swears it’s okay. Then Martha has a case of deja vu about feeling like she’s been there in the forest with Jonas before…

Magnus and Mikkel show soon and despite Martha telling Magnus that he needs to take their little brother back now, they don’t, Bart showing up and bopping Mikkel on the back of the head before one of my favorite lines from Magnus: “Hey! Only I can do that!”

As the group sets off into the forest, older Helge is loose on the streets, still chanting “it’s gonna happen again”…

Back at the town meeting, Charlotte is addressing the adults in the town, asking people to stay vigilant and report anything they hear about Erik and Katharina is talking about how there’s new security measures at school. Regina is real mad during this, and it’s obviously because the increased security measures and whispers about there being a murderer in Winden is hurting her hotel business. Regina’s taking it personal and her and Katharina have a smidge of a heated moment right there in the meeting as Hannah sneaks out…

With The Squad, sweet Mikkel is worrying about Erik’s disappearance as the crew walks through the woods. He says, “So what if Erik’s lying dead somewhere and no one finds his body? That would be the worst. Even if you’re dead, you’d want to be found”… this is poignant, especially later when we find out what happens to Mikkel and how he becomes connected to Erik…

Older Helge busts up in the Winden community meeting and Charlotte stops him. He asks “is it already too late? it’s gonna happen again!” and the only thing he’s regarded with are curious and pitiful stares as Charlotte leads him out of the assembly room.

Meanwhile, we see that Hannah’s snuck out to meet Ulrich behind the school and they’re now kissing in what looks like it could be the very same alley where Franz and Magnus had their moment earlier in the day. I don’t wanna judge nobody but… that’s messed up, Hannah!!! His wife is literally right inside!

The time has finally come for Ines to open Michael’s letter… but as she does, we get no insight into what it says just yet…

The Squad reach the spot where Erik’s drugs are supposed to be and surprise, surprise, Franz has beat them to it. She tries to sell it back to them for a couple hundred bucks and then Bart has the nerve to actually snatch it from her and push her down. I was really surprised when Magnus didn’t step in here to Franz’s defense, especially knowing how he feels about her and having just seen her get pushed down in the dirt… But, shit, I suppose chivalry is dead ‘round Winden, huh?

Anyway, the whole little scene is interrupted by a growl-like sound booming out of the Winden caves, twigs snapping nearby, and the sudden malfunction of all of the flashlights that The Squad are holding. Needless to say, the group takes off running for their lives in what’s one of the scariest scenes of this episode.

Jonas falls and when he gets up is when he realizes that he’s lost sight of Mikkel who, just a few seconds before, was running by his side. It’s blood curdlingly scary when Jonas hear’s someone… something… call his name. And when he turns around it’s his father, seemingly back from the dead, staring at Jonas, covered in a strange black liquid. Jonas bolts and it’s pouring rain now. When he meets up with the rest of The Squad there’s a terrifying moment when they all realize that they’ve lost the youngest of their group, Mikkel.

Back at the school, older Helge looks up into the rain as Charlotte leads him out and says, “It’s too late to stop it” just as the Winden adult’s all start getting phone alerts that interrupt the meeting and Ines closes the “suicide note” back into her special box and collapses over it.

In the woods, Ulrich, Charlotte, Regina and Hannah are all running to their babies, embracing them. They’ve heard the news. Ulrich takes off into the woods with his flashlight, yelling for Mikkel, but we get the feeling that it’s much too late… there seems to be no one out there to find but Ulrich does hear the same ominous sound booming out of the cave again just before the scene cuts.

The next morning, the nuclear smoke stacks are still billowing faithfully but the people of Winden are morose. Charlotte and Ulrich are out in the woods where the police are conducting a full out investigation. Peter calls Carlotte and says he needs to tell her something but Charlotte rushes him off of the phone and he’s left to stand alone in their study, praying the serenity prayer to himself.

A body is found in the woods and Ulrich has a gut wrenching moment of gently removing the leaves from the body before realizing that…. it’s not Mikkel.

We cut back to that scary, bright room with the dangerous looking chair and now Erik’s being strapped into it, a penny on a red string being placed around his neck just before the machine’s head lock-thingy is closed over his eyes.

The Walkman found with the body of the dead boy who turns up in the woods the morning after Mikkel’s disappearance and the 80′s sounding song that it’s playing, “we fall through the time stream then awaken from a dream”…

“The question isn’t how. The question is when.” - Mikkel to Ulrich after his magic trick at the kitchen table.

“You ever find yourself wondering where you took the wrong turn in life? When your life started becoming the exact opposite of what you always wanted it to be?” - Ulrich to Charlotte a the station after they discuss Eric’s disappearance.

“You know this whole business with that missing kid, Eric? It’s like your brother back then. Everything’s repeating itself. Everything’s like it was, 33 years ago.” - Jana to Ulrich at her home.

“Just because you can’t see past your own nose, doesn’t mean there’s not really weird stuff going on out there. The kinda stuff that the nuclear power mafia keeps secret from the public.” - Martha to Magnus.

“The light? The forest? It’s as if it’s all happened before.” - Martha to Jonas in the woods, before The Squad meets up to grab Erik’s drugs.

THOUGHT STARTERS FOR PONDERING

1. How long do we think Hannah and Ulrich have been sleeping together? Since just after Michael’s death? Like, was this whole affair a coping mechanism against the grief for her? Or do we think they were sleeping together even before Michael passed? I mean, I could sympathize with the former a bit more than the latter but if this show teaches us anything it’s that people are capable of some pretty fucked up things. What do you all think?

2. The yellow piece that Mikkel makes “disappear” in his kitchen table magic trick… does that thing remind anybody of a tiny Jonas in his yellow rain coat? Think about that… Jonas disappearing… or more specifically, Mikkel making Jonas disappear… hmmm.

3. Notice that Charlotte seems to already suspect something weird going on in Winden when she and Ulrich are at the station talking about Erik’s disappearance… She seems to already be making a connection to Ulrich’s brothers’ disappearance… just wanted to throw that out there… She’s got a head start on a lot of the others where that’s concerned.

4. There are two times when Jonas seems distinctly mesmerized by the smoke stacks at the nuclear plant: once when he’s riding his bike to school and then later, in the woods, when The Squad are going to steal Erik’s drugs. For a kid who’s grown up his whole life in Winden, you’d think those things wouldn’t be anything special for him anymore. Hasn’t he been seeing them there billowing smoke since… well, forever? What exactly is it about the vision of the smoke billowing out of the stacks that draws him in so?

5. When Michael appears to Jonas in the woods after Mikkel is lost, he’s covered in black liquid of some sort. The first thing I wondered was whether or not it’s actually black rain/ nuclear fallout. I mean, Jonas has been mesmerized by the smoke billowing out of the nuclear plants all episode long, hasn’t he? Could it be that in some alternate time, the plant has malfunctioned and Michael was near enough to it to be affected by the fall out?

6. When Peter calls Charlotte while she’s out at the crime scene after Mikkel’s disappearance, what was he wanting to confess? Was he going to confess the affair he’d had? Or was he going to share something about Winden’s disappearances/the body about to turn up in the woods? Because later on in the series we learn of what he sees in the cellar and how he’s not exactly innocent in all this…
