ON BEING A WRITER, BY A WRITER
“You most likely need a thesaurus, a rudimentary grammar book, and a grip on reality. This latter means: there’s no free lunch. Writing is work. It’s also gambling. You don’t get a pension plan. Other people can help you a bit, but essentially you’re on your own. Nobody is making you do this: you chose it, so don’t whine.”
– Margaret Atwood

There's this thing.
It's living under your skin. It's rotting you from the inside out. It's killing you by inches. And you aren't the only one. So, so many people have been lost to this very circumstance you now find yourself in, and you're not sure if you have any reason to believe that you won't go the exact same way.
What you do have is love.
Or maybe it's not so simple as that. Maybe what you have is the potential for love. The capacity for it. The belief that, maybe, in spite of all of the forces conspiring against you, you might get the chance to love one day. And maybe that's enough. Maybe that's worth hoping for. Maybe that's worth fighting for.
Am I describing the plot of my first book or the experience of being closeted? We just don't know.

Oh, I see you can't write right now. Here you have perfectly structured paragraphs, with those amazing words you wouldn't dream of remembering, for that WIP you can't write.
You're welcome, your brain ❣️

*sigh* Another day, another rejection letter from literary agents.
Never a nice feeling but I truly believe in my book and I just know it will find its audience eventually.
Nevertheless, if you feel like cheering me up, please do head over to my A03 page and indulge in some of my little fanfics. Kudos and comments always help lift my mood, especially on the back of rejections.

Everyone talks about characters they like because they're relatable, but no one ever talks about characters that are a little TOO relatable. The characters that make you wince and cringe as you read through their misadventures. The characters that make your stomach feel uncomfortably tight. The characters that are far from perfect. The characters that you hate with every atom of your being, because they remind you of yourself and all the despicable things about you.

Should I be working on the one-shot for my my FBI: MW Series that came to me out of the blue? Yes. Am I? No. I currently have brainrot for a wingfic AU, because of a wonderful story I’m reading by WinterLantern on AO3. Her fic has me actually liking wing-fics for once ... and has gotten me interested in Formula 1.

Sometimes I wonder if the depth with which I love is directly tied to the immensity of my fragility, to this unchecked sensitivity.

Me: yes please, I would like to sell my ebook generated on Apple Pages in the Apple Bookstore.
Apple: Sure, but please correct all these code errors we created for you.
Me:
Apple: Well? It’s you own time you’re wasting.
Update: Apple rejected a file produced by its own Pages app for errors in the .opf. I don't know if I should laugh or cry 😂😭

Question that no one is obligated to answer:
A long time ago I wrote an entire outline for a novelization of Fantasmic (the nighttime show from Disney's Hollywood Studios) and with the new update (which is pretty okay except for some musical choices) I was thinking of starting it up again. And this time actually post a few chapters.
thoughts?
