Kiribaku headcanons, because I shit on Bakudeku so much I can sometimes forget how much I actually really like Kiribaku.

- Bakugou likes that Kirishima isn't a pushover. He doesn't treat Bakugou like a god or like a delinquent; he views Bakugou as a person first, and Bakugou likes that Kirishima isn't intimidated by him, nor does he fall over himself to impress Bakugou.

- Kirishima admires Bakugou for his confidence and self-assuredness, but he also likes that Bakugou makes an effort to push himself and test his boundaries

- As much as he pretends to be annoyed by it, I think Bakugou appreciates just how genuinely friendly and outgoing Kirishima is. I think that in general, Bakugou likes how... Solid Kirishima is (no pun intended). He isn't awkward, he doesn't fumble in conversation, he knows exactly what he wants, and when he does want something, he just fucking goes for it. Kirishima has issues with his self-esteem, but he rarely lets it affect how he carries himself with such surety.

- On the physical side of it, I think Bakugou likes Kirishima's shark teeth. And his muscles.

- Kirishima also thinks that Bakugou looks unfairly attractive in a tank top, cuz it shows off his arms and shoulders.

- I like the idea that Kirishima calls Bakugou "Kats"

I always find it funny whenever I see antis say things like "I want bakugo to stay dead / I want krbk or izuocha to get more screentime instead cause they're healthier than bkdk" and when Hori does the opposite of that they go on saying "Hori is a bad writer, hori is an abuse apologist etc". Like they're the equivalent of "who does the author think he is?"

I feel like people don’t understand that bkdks are just as shocked at half the things we’ve gotten. Even when someone makes a theory (that’s rooted in bkdk’s dynamic) and it comes true, we’re like wait what??? because it always feels like something pulled right out of a fic 🫣

ANYWAYS we’re all on this ride together, all we’re doing is shipping our ships and enjoying whatever Hori writes, and if someone’s not enjoying it that’s okay ! If they don’t drop the story, there’s clearly still something pulling them in and they should focus on that.

Okay, something I realized a while ago is how the fandom doesn't give Kiribaku enough shit like it does with the bkdk or other ships, like an anti bkdk myself that prefer Izuku ten meters away from bk, same thing that many krdk shippers want too. However, many of them likes the cliche of  “bad boy with everyone but nice with the good boy who helps calm him down (this dynamic is repeated in with kachaco but heterosexual version)” In addition the ship is to the detriment of murdering Kirishima's character in the supposed relationship, although Horikoshi murdered the character when he became bakugou follower without self-criticism or construction of why a character who hated bullies and who wanted to learn to be braver to protect the weak he still decides to persecute someone who doesn’t show kindness or compassion to others.

I'm going to be honest, I don't like Kirishima's character, I think that many of his scenes, especially with BK, end up reinforcing a toxic masculinity because even though BK's behavior is toxic, he ends up labeling them as "manly", I think there is never any self-criticism on Kirishima's part towards this and while I understand that this is more Horikoshi's fault than anything else, I think that the fandom presents Kirishima as a deconstruction of toxic masculinity but that they end up cementing themselves with bk, because Kirishima sees in bk only his confidence and talent but he doesn't react when his actions are simply toxic or cruel to others, krbk is presented as a ship where kirishima is bk's lapdog and the worst of all is that it agrees with the canon since kirishima never stands over him to point out his flaws.

I think the reason it gets less flak than the others is because for the most part KrBk shippers are quiet and do their own thing. Also, Ejiro’s not linked to Izuku in any way, which makes it easier for people to stomach.

I can see why you don’t like him. I’m neutral towards him but Ejiro’s biggest problem is his inconsistency. When Ejiro’s without Katsuki, he’s a very interesting character. He’s a character meant to embody positive masculinity. Sadly, he’s with Katsuki most of the time, and even when he’s not, Katsuki’s involved in some way. I get finding someone’s free spirit and determination cool, but Katsuki embodies the worst aspects of these traits. Ejiro doesn’t seem to get that. When Katsuki rushed in to hit Kurogiri, Ejiro followed, not once thinking about the ramifications. Neither gets scolded either for essentially putting the rest of their classmates in danger. If Mezou wasn’t there, things could’ve ended up much worse.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone saying they weren't friends (aside from maybe you?), like, sure, they're friends. But that's it, really. No one has ever said they're not FRIENDS, just that they're not BOYFRIENDS (or that it would simply never happen in canon, which is not the end all be all, just ship what you want and leave people who don't ship it alone)

Okay so anyways! Maybe it's just me, but as someone who likes BkDk (both platonic and romantic, I'm not picky), it does irriate me I see Bakugou-critical posts say things like "BkDks are obsessive, they only see that Midoriya rages over Bakugou as if he hasn't rages over anyone else before". (Truth be told if you're gonna be Bakugou-critical, that just tells me you're only going to see bad things and stick to those bad things and not care for like character development.)

Which from my view, is untrue. Yes, shippers will bring up how Midoriya will lose all sense when it comes to Bakugou. But... BKDKS AREN'T THE ONLY SHIPPERS TO DO THAT. KrBks will bring up KrBk moments. Izuocha shippers will bring up Izuocha moments. Tododeku shippers will bring up Tododeku moments. There's nothing wrong with that.

It's just weaponizing it against another ship is the issue for me.

I swear antis be trying to paint BkDk as obsessive with points that OTHER SHIPPERS DO, too. Like, ugh, we get it. Honestly, as a multishipper, it annoys me to see other shippers like that. Seriously, how are you going to say BkDks "delusional" or "obsessive" when saying "they only see BkDk moments" when EVERY SHIPPER DOES THAT WITH THEIR SHIP. EVERY SHIPPER WEARS THE GOGGLES FROM TIME TO TIME, DON'T ACT SO BRAND NEW.

First off, don't call someone "delusional" for liking a ship. That is just wrong. It's not "delusional". It's called "being a fan".

Running back to the "Midoriya loses sense only pertaining to Bakugou thing". Now this is just me. But a lot of BkDk fics I've read also bring up relationships Midoriya has with other people. And it's something good. Hell, even add in the trope how he always has to save everyone even at the cost of his own safety. Not just Bakugou.

When antis be like "He only ever rages when Bakugou is in danger" it's almost like saying "Midoriya only seems to care about Bakugou, just Bakugou, no one else is important".

Then who in the hell have you've been hanging around with?

The BkDks I follow talk about how Midoriya wants to save everyone, how they adore the relationships he has with other characters, reblog posts about other characters besides Bakugou and Midoriya, have other ships beside BkDk. They don't even be a multishipper, but be supportive of other ships.

I've also seen BkDks post about other characters to bring up good things. I've seen BkDks say they hope Midoriya saves Shigaraki or how they adore Ochaco for being Ochaco. There's even headcanon or joke posts about other characters.

BkDks may bring up BkDk a lot, but! They don't ignore the fact that Midoriya and Bakugou do have other important people in their lives. They don't ignore that the other characters are as important to the story. Maybe some BkDks do, but the ones I seen don't.

And I don't even see BkDks talk negatively about other ships like 24/7 like antis do. Only a couple of times I'll see someone trash talk about another shipper, but only because it's something recent or even just to say "oh I don't ship that anymore, bad experiences".

But to do it every single second? Yeah, no. I don't see that.

And it's not like I don't think other shippers don't have the same mannerisms. I've seen KrBks not talk bad about BkDks at all, just fawn other KrBk. I've read fics where Midoriya isn't treated like the bad guy. He's best friends with Bakugou and likes Kirishima. (Let's be honest, Midoriya would be down to plan any of his classmates' wedding. Including a KrBk. "Kacchan, he likes Crimson Riot. We gotta--" "Deku, our wedding is not going to be Crimson Riot themed." "... I'll put him on the guest list." "How do you--?" "Connections, Kacchan.")

I just find ship wars very damn annoying. There is no point to them at all for me and it's just sad when I see someone trash talk a ship and be like "this ship reigns supreme" and then troll people. It's stupid.

It's just... really what's the point of being an ass?

Also hypocritical? How are you going say "BkDks only seem to care about BkDk" and then turn around and be like "here's all the moments my ship have"?

It almost feels like you don't want BkDks to have their fun. As if they can't do what other shippers can.

Like how are you going to hate Bakugou for treating Midoriya the way he did when they were younger, but display THE SAME BEHAVIOR to BkDk shippers? Actually be worse because at least he sees how bad he was.

I do like other ships, I do. But I find it hard to gravitate to those shippers when all they'll do is be negative about a ship they could easily ignore. Fandoms are supposed to be fun. When did having a ship turn into a competition?

anyways, i think it's funny how krbks and, apparently now, tddks keep complaining about the lack of importance of kirishima and todoroki in both katsuki and izuku's plotlines at this point in the story.

because like, there was no indication that they would have a bigger roles in izuku/katsuki's lives than simply being their friends?

like they served their purpose in the narrative st their respective times, but at the end of the day, the story started with bkdk's relationship dynamic being established and it's most likely (most definitely) going to end with their relationship dynamic being re-established.

i mean, just think about heroes rising. hori said that he was originally going to use the concept of bkdk sharing OFA to defeat the Big Bad as the series finale. that whole scene of izuku sharing OFA with katsuki, a clear declaration of his feelings towards katsuki, as in, he's more than willing to give up his dreams, especially if he's giving them to katsuki.

like hello???? and yall think it makes zero sense for tddk/krbk to not be involved in bkdk's business??

not to mention thst both todoroki and kirishima are having their own character-defining plotlines as well. like they deserve so much better than just being the "(best) friend" and they are actually getting so much better.

Dont think about Kirishima watching Bakugo die at the hands of a villain. Kirishima going in a blind rage and killing the villain. Going rogue. The birth of Blood Riot who becomes more like an anti hero. Tired of always apprehending and never making a big enough change so he just takes matters into his own hands. Becoming feard by both hero's and villains and he tears his way through the criminal world. Killing any villain in his path and putting countless hero's in the hospital when they try to get in his way.

And Deku who's been gone for years. Working overseas in America finally comes home to discover his best friend is dead and his best friends husband is now the most dangerous villain. And now it's time for Deku to get rid of Blood Riot.

And hopefully bring back Kirishima in the process.

I'm a multi-shipper. I think it's probably very clear at this point, but just so I have mentioned it once, I ship a lot of different ships. In almost every fandom I'm in. I ship the same characters with countless other characters.

Sure, I have fave ships (tddk for example) which I post or reblog about more, but I still like other ships a lot as well (you'll see me like bkdk sometimes or krbk).

I also don't really like going around hating ships/series even if I dislike them (I'll keep those rants to myself and my friends, if I ever do rant about a ship it'll be tagged accordingly with an anti-ship tag, but most likely that will never happen).

My point is, even if the majority of the content on here is tddk, there'll be other ship content. I'll write for other ship content.

If that bothers you, that might be something to consider when scrolling through this blog.

However, I've been thinking this through... once I have revamped the blog and start reblogging other content, therefore multiple other ships, I'll tag the ships properly by their shortened ship names later on. That should make blacklisting the ships easier (if the function even works properly, I've been told it's wonky but it can't be worse than Twitter's hellsite filtering or whatever ff.net has going on).

I'll also include a list with the fandoms I'll be posting about later on. I might add ships to that list but eh.

roman would like to give a trigger warning for the following: mentions of abuse, talking about personal experiences with abusive people, and ship negativity (bakudeku and kiribaku)

so roman has noticed a lot of kiribaku shippers shit on bakudeku shippers for bakudeku being abusive. roman agrees with this entirely, bakudeku *IS* abusive and unhealthy but that doesn’t mean kiribaku is much better. 

we’ll start with roman’s initial reason for disliking kiribaku. kirishima is constantly forced into this position of being bakugous caretaker or babysitter who keeps him from hurting others. roman recently got out of a friendship with a really shitty person who was constantly mean to everyone and had to keep their temper under control. it was mentally exhausting and roman had never felt so relieved. this dynamic just doesn’t work and it’s not healthy. it also allows to aggressor to become codependent on others rather than being responsible and keeping themself in check, which isn’t a good thing.

not to mention the fact bakugou isn’t even a good friend? he constantly calls kirishima an idiot and has even hit him on multiple occasions. hell, bakugou’s nickname for kirishima is even “shitty hair.” while roman isn’t opossed to teasing in friendships there’s a point where a line is crossed between friendly teasing and borderline verbal abuse. if it becomes too extreme it can be emotionally exhausting or stressful to the one constantly being teased.

tl;dr: a relationship between kirishima and bakugou would be draining for kirishima and bad for his health and the ship is borderline abusive.

Hm... I used to have mixed feelings about KiriBaku, wanting to see Bakugou have more growth but also seeing the appeal of the ship as a whole. Now I can’t ship it, at all.

While reading MHA School Briefs Vol. II, I came across a section where Bakugou is tutoring Kirishima to help him study for the test right before the training camp. In the anime this is shown to be a quick flashback in a restaurant, but in the manga/this book it starts at the library.

While there, Kirishima asks for help with his math work because he doesn’t understand it. Bakugou flippantly, and barely, explains the problem - cuasing Kirishima to still doesn’t understand all of his not-tutoring. This is when Bakugou calls him stupid.

Kirishima attempts to keep his cool, but after being berated with insults by someone who should be his friend, he finally snaps, shouting in the middle of the library: “I’m not dumb man [page 22]!” Instead of apologizing, or admitting that he was wrong, Bakugou continues with a “Heh. You suck, and now they all know it too [page 22].”

For someone who is supposedly his friend, this... isn’t okay behavior, it shouldn’t be normalized behavior. The book continues as if nothing were wrong with this, but there is. There is and I just, I can’t ship that.
