excuse me i need to Muse on something for a moment

so in Wally's secret 'vinyl' audios, specifically the last few (if we're listening to em in chronological order), obviously he starts to sound more strained/distressed. his breathing is more labored, like it's taking all of his energy to make contact.

but the audio that really caught my attention was the "But i still can't see" one. cause he just said he has more eyes than he did before. he knows We draw them a lot, and it's thanks to that that he can see. but he still can't see?

so my question is: where is Wally physically? cause although he can (assumedly) see the WHRP goings on, he can see through the eyes We draw, that could all be on a, uh... more Intangible level of sight. like the spiral pit is forming an eye, and then there's the eye on the ceiling in the secret Staff Only section - could Wally be in the pit, that space between his reality and Ours, "watching" through the eyes? but unable to actually see with due to the pit being pitch black nothingness? is he somewhere else? is he stuck? he can see, but he can't... see.

(or is he trying to explain an abstract concept - he's not actually viewing anything, but he can sense it. like how he knows We're there, even if he can't see or hear Us. but he just doesn't have the words to describe it other than using physical senses - see, hear, look.)

and him saying "...that I can see. But it is still... I can't..." but it's still what, Wally? dark? something else that he doesn't have the words to describe, so he just says that he can't see?

i know that in the Livestream Trivia Document (compiled by @/the neighborhoodwatch) there was something said about Wally being in a box. my first thought reading that was "oh, so he's in storage? the physical puppet, i mean?" which would make sense - show's over, there's no more use for him. pack 'em up and put him away. but that paired with the "can't see" audio makes both seem a lil... connected.

Wally can't see > he's likely somewhere dark > the inside of closed boxes are dark > Wally's in a box. (or maybe the Neighborhood is the box? it's a stretch, i know, but the map is a box. television sets are often set up in "boxes". maybe it's less of a physical storage box and more of a 'boxed in' sort of thing...)

one question i've had since the Start of my interest in this incredible project is: how is Wally communicating? how has he connected to the site? how does he connect to our reality? the pit almost definitely has something to do with it - most likely acting as a bridge, or the deteriorating of the barrier between our two 'worlds' - but if Wally is in a box and Not the pit or even just in the puppet's reality... how is he reaching us beyond just seeing through the eyes he's given?

or is he in their reality, and he can contact through the pit or something, but he can't actually see the other side? Our side? he knows it's there - that We're there - but none of it is visible to him. maybe his apparent disassociation in the 14 bug audios is a demonstration of him contacting Us. we can see through him, but it's a one way street.

and speaking of the pit - i just had a thought. his whole thing with Us letting him in, opening... the pit on the neighborhood map is getting bigger and clearer. but the presumed Other Side, the one on the Staff Only ceiling, is small. it's the size of a ceiling panel. it seems to me that Wally is chipping away at his side of the pit or 'portal', trying to reach Our reality, but he needs Us to do the same thing on the other side. the QA can hear him calling, but there's no phone on their (Our) side of the pit. how do We call back???

there's a fundamental barrier & lack of understanding between Wally and the QA/Us. he's trying. he wants to be let in, but what does that mean, really? let him in where? open what? he's desperate. he wants us to understand. he's trying so so hard Without the right tools to clearly communicate what he wants. he can't see Us, We can see him, both know the other is there, but there's no way to connect. and the attempts are hurting all parties involved, however unintentionally

ive seen so much talk about the spanish dub of the i heart you too shadow scene that makes me feel like im the only person on earth whos actually watched that clip. This post is mostly about the hard aspects(square, conjunct, opposition) but people with the soft aspects might relate too. Also keep in mind these are my personal observations so not everyone will agree.

🌑 The need to be in control can sometimes be devastating to live with. It can even be felt physically when they are losing control or when they feel powerless. Feeling powerless can make them act in a very disturbing way.

🌒 People with this placement might be the black sheep of the family. There seem to often be something with them that differs from the rest of the family, especially physically. A lot of times they are darker than other family members since this placement can create darker features. But there seem to also be a huge difference in personality.

🌓 They have experienced women not liking them for no reason and later in life they often become like this themselves if they dont work on it. Often there is a theme of older women being mean to them and then they grow up to be the mean old woman who targets a young girl.

🌑 Ive also seen a theme of them having an evil stepmom and then they themselves meet a man when kids and treats their stepchildren just like their stepmother treated them.

🌒 There is a habit of writing people off or disliking someone based on a feeling they got from them that was actually just themselves projecting their own inner fear onto this person. Others get this feeling about them too and they are often themselves a victim of others disliking them for no reason.

🌓 It can be very hard for them to take a look in the mirror and see that they are causing a lot of the issues in their relationships themselves because they are so hyperfocused on what their partner is doing or might do.

🌑 A lot of times there was a grandmother who disliked them or were mean to them. So its not always the mother who was the worst, the issues can be with grandmothers and stepmothers too. For some reason they seem to have good aunts tho? Like their aunties seem to be the most normal in the family.

🌒 This can make someone extremely vengeful & they can resent someone for a lifetime.

🌓 People with this placement seem to often want to become popular or know a lot of people to feel like they have power. Or even want to be feared.

🌑 They seem to often be paranoid in the wrong situations but as soon as they let their guard down they get burned. Especially when it comes to women. This leads to a strong fear of letting the guard down and can make them push a lot of people away.

🌒 Eating disorders seem to be very common with these placements since eating disorders are often about control.

🌓 They fear anything that has to do with powerlessness. Being looked down on is also a huge fear here. This can make them social climbers and cloutchasers in some cases. 🌒 This coldness usuallt occurs in their teens until their early twenties where they shut down completely emotionally. This often makes them VERY problematic during their teens.

🌓 In the end of their teens or in their twenties they usually transform completely because of situations in their lives and experience a rebirth of their emotional selves. After this they often become beautiful souls. Not always tho. For a lot of them the bitterness stays forever because life just hasnt been fair to them.

🌑 Both women and men with this placement seems to be bothered by what women do and can be slutshamers. The kind of people to give the stankface to a woman walking by with a short skirt or ”too much” makeup, plastic surgery etc (these are things ive seen moon/pluto people react strongly too lol)

🌒 Men with this placement can have a very strong feminine energy and Ive noticed that a lot of them beef with women instead of beefing with other men and even hate on women they never met.

🌓 They do NOT like other sneaky people, unless its a man. A woman with this placement might for example refuse to talk to a woman who she gets bad vibes from but will love a man with shady vibes. Might hate a woman because ”shes fake and talks a lot of shit” but will be the first to be with a man who talks shit about people.

🌑 They pick up the psychological state of everyone extrememy fast and therefore can have strong reactions to others, especially people who remind them of themselves.

🌒 Sometimes there can be a fear of becoming like their mother. They might have a mother whos done a lot of mistakes and they are afraid of becoming like her. In some cases they can even have a feeling of disgust for their mother.

🌓 Punishment in their childhood might have been very harsh and involved stuff related to safety and nurture. Such as not getting food, being thrown out of the house.

🌑 Their mother might have liked to show her power by weird rules and ideas. If the child was freezing outside for example and wanted to come in the mother might be like ”You can come in when the clock is 5”. Or if the child was hungry ”You get food when you finished your homework.” Safety and nurture was not to be taken for granted like in normal households.

🌒 This can lead to very deep issues concerning these things and a feeling of never being safe. This can make them very fixated with food and control later in life.

🌓 The mother often had no respect for their private life or might have a hard time with boundaries. In extreme cases even being fixated on the Moon/Pluto childs sex life and relationships. The kind of mother to read their daughters diary or spy on their daughter/son when they are in their room with a romantic partner.

🌑 There is often a case of their mother figure being disgusted by them one minute and kind the next. They recieved very strong reactions from their mother figure and at times even extreme anger for nothing.

🌒 A strong fear of being controlled or used so much that they might need to rebel against what someone wants them to do to feel in control. Lets say its their friends birthday and their friends tells them that a pair of new headphones is on their wishlist. The Moon/Pluto will then buy anything but the headphones because that makes them feel used or ”what if shes telling me to buy headphones bc she knew i will run and do it, hmm i aint that easily used so i will buy something else instead to show I do what I want.” These kind of mindf*ckery is constantly going on in their head.

🌓 Betrayal by women can be a strong theme in their life. And a lot of times completely out of nowhere. Like women in their life might start disliking them for no reason without warning.

🌑 A lot of them might have experienced bullying in their childhood by a woman who was jealous of them. And might even had to change school. A lot of their issues seems to be from women envying them. And if they have asteroid Lilith or Medusa prominent this can be very extreme.

🌒 They are not only victims of others envy they can be very envious themselves too. They might not be easily jealous but WHEN they get jealous it will be extreme.

🌓 The relationship to the mother is very complicated because a lot of times the mother is the only one who understands them but at the same time the person who hurt them. Also the mother can sometimes be very similar to them. They might go long periods without talking to their mother and then a period where they hang out with her every day.

🌓 I know a lot of these observations might be negative but thats because some aspects come with more negative then positive. But these aspects can make someone extremely sensitive, loyal and kind since they understand human nature. And a lot of them make wonderful mothers/fathers.

🌑 I also want to say that these people experience issues with people with feminine energy not only women. So they will most likely have some issues with men who are feminine too, maybe even more because feminine men can be extra sensitive to this strong energy if the man is not comfortable with this energy himself.

🌒 They can feel more comfortable around ”bad” people and might not be able to hang with people who are too innocent. They can be real drama addicts.

🌓 People with this placement can be very breastfixated.

Teardrops appeared like a shaky curtain in front of y/n's large and beautiful eyes. Her mouth was open and ready for another protest, but no words came out.

While holding both of y/n's hands in his own, the half-life king, in a sudden movement, weakness overcame his strength and fell to his knees.

And that was the exact moment that panic sent shivers down y/n's spine. her eyes widened. This was the voice of Tiberias who had come here with his knights. There could not have been a worse disaster.

:"What happened, Lord Tiberias?! It's usually very rare to see you among the caravans!" The leader of the caravan stated with an almost mocking and sweet tone.

:"We're looking for a lady! She's tall and fair-faced. With dark,long curly hair. Have you seen such a person here? Has she asked you for help? If so, hand her over to us, or I'll confiscate this caravan and get you all in prison."

His strong words and threats caused a wave of protest and panic among the people who were there. Y/n would never let innocent people be sacrificed for her. There, she gathered all her courage and surrendered to God's will. she suddenly came forward from the crowd and shouted...

:"Wait!..." y/n took off her veil and black turban. For a few moments, breaths caught in their chests and all the knights stared at their king's lover in surprise.

Finally accompanied by Tiberias and his knights, Y/n arrived at the entrance gate of the palace. That palace was like a hell that had no escape and the owner of such a beautiful hell was a masked ghost whose blood stained eyes were visible under the mask.

Soldiers and knights were lined up on either side of Baldwin, all the templars, lord Lusignan and some nobles were also there. Was this a greeting? Or a trial?

:"my lord. We found Lady y/n trying to escape from Damascus Gate. This was her third failed attempt to escape."

Baldwin IV didn't seem to pay attention to what Tiberias was saying and the whole time he was staring at y/n who was now helplessly looking down at the ground.

:"Didn't I tell you some time ago that I won't let you go?"

:"My love for you was undeniable. But you abused my love and chose selfishness. I will never stay here as a hostage. I won't stay where I don't belong."

Everyone present witnessed their conversation when suddenly y/n turned away from the leper king and looked towards the exit gate. ready to leave for good.

:"STAY THERE!" His loud and scary voice made the heart beat in everyone's chest. In an unexpected move, he took Tiberias's sword with his good right hand. Everyone there looked in horror at the king approaching y/n and now standing in front of her. No one dared to speak.

:"If you take one more step..." The hand that was holding the sword started shaking. he wished this wasn't the last resort.

Unfortunately, y/n moved forward without listening to him. A tear fell from her eye at the last moment...

That was the moment...

y/n's scream echoed there. No thoughts, no words. just pain the pain. just pain.

There was nothing she could do but helplessly hold her hand to her stomach to stop the warm, red liquid from running down her long dress. The king's sword was stained with blood...

Me: you know, it doesn't even really bother me when people refer to the monster as "Frankenstein"- it makes sense, you know? I never coped well with changes.

Not when my parents moved when I was little, not when I was sent away to see some strange "doctor" that I didn't know when I was a teenager, not when I suddenly found myself with powers that I couldn't understand or control, and definitely not when I was forced to stay in a house a bunch of strangers and the man that very much ruined my life.

After so much change, it was easier for me to disconnect. Why establish relationships when they would inevitably be ripped away from me?

The rest of the house left me alone.

To them, I was a moody teenager that would "adjust eventually".

I didn't. I hated it.

I was convinced that I always would.

And then, there was Gar.

The boy who I was almost convinced just had an IV of caffeine that he just pumped straight into his veins. He was excitable and curious and kind to the point that some part of me found it just as enraging as it was enduring.

Of all the people that he could latch onto, he seemed to choose me.

I don't know why. Even after all this time, I never figured it out and he would never answer me honestly when I asked.

I had seen his... trick on accident pretty soon after he moved in.

I largely ignored it like I had done with every other person in the house.

Until he showed up at my door.

It was crap and we both knew it. I always ran off after a meal. I had no interest in being part of the crowd longer than absolutely necessary. It was such a common occurrence that I was pretty sure someone started timing me.

"Can I..."

Gar pointed behind me.

I moved out of the way, deciding to get this over with because he would never give up if I didn't.

"Wow," he muttered as he walked into the room. "It's very... minimal."

"Decorations are a fire hazard," I replied. That's what the doc had told me when I first got here. "My powers are apparently too shaky to be trusted with a poster."

"What power is that," he asked. I raised an eyebrow at him. "Well, you saw what I could do. It's only fair that I see what you can do, right? Equal trade."

"I didn't mean to see your gift."

He shrugged. "You still did."

I took a deep breath before lifting my hand. I pressed my palms together before letting them open. A ball of light formed in my hands, truly looking like the equivalent of a small star. I wish I had been able to look at it with something other than disdain.

"Holy crap," Gar mumbled, staring at it.

I close my hands, snuffing out the light. "Is that all?"

"What was that?"

"The result of the doc's experiments."

"I kinda guessed that one," he replied. "What did he do?"

"I... I can't remember most of it. I was pretty sedated the whole time because I kept trying to fight him."

Gar shifted a bit, clearly a bit uncomfortable about the details around how I got here.

"He claimed that his experiments healed me and 'accidentally' made me more 'intensely in tune' to the universe," I put air quotes around 'accidentally' and 'intensely in tune' because I gave up seeing any purpose in the words that he said to me. "Now, I can... create sunlight... I guess that's what's happening."

"That's pretty cool."

"Said the green tiger," I muttered. "I don't want this. I never wanted any of this. If I could go back and stop him..."

I trailed off, closing my eyes.

Gar spoke up again, "You'd be dead."

I didn't respond to him. I didn't even look at him until I felt him awkwardly put his hand on mine.

"I... I know that you don't want to be here," he explained. "But I... I'm here if you want someone to talk to. Or hang out with. I have a pretty awesome set up in my room, so it'll keep you distracted if you need that and-"

He paused his rambling for a moment.

"I'll let you have some time alone," he concluded.

"Thanks," I replied.

He stood up and walked to the doorway. I laid down, pulling my blanket up over my shoulders.

"I mean it," he spoke. "I'm gonna make you happy here... at least a little."

"Yeah, good luck, Gar," I rolled over, hiding myself as best I could.

I should have never doubted his determination and stubbornness. That was my mistake.

That next morning, I woke up to Gar nervously tapping my shoulder in the hopes of not upsetting me too much.

He dragged me to the dining room. He stood there with a proud smile on his face while I looked at the table. He had managed to make breakfast for us without getting into any trouble. I couldn't help but grin. He had been so excited about the whole thing.

That was only one of the times that Gar dedicated to trying to make me happier.

He started spending more and more time with me in the Caulder house. He would invite me to sit in his room while he played video games. I'd watch quietly as he told me about the story and how the game worked and the voice actors. Anything he could think of.

If he wasn't giving me a lecture on the history of gaming, then we were just talking. Gar wasn't subtle when he tried to out details from my past. Even then, I found myself telling him more and more over time. He knew more about me than anyone else did. It was a weird feeling, but I kind of liked it.

As time went on, Gar started pushing me to take more and more risks. He had managed to talk me into sneaking out of the Caulder House. We had gone to get him a new video game a few times, gone to the arcade that he was obsessed with, and sometimes we just ran for the sake of it. We'd go hide in the trees and try to take in some fresh air.

I had never felt so at peace with someone before. I found myself looking at Gar and smiling, even though I had no reason to. Everyone in the house saw it... and enjoyed making jokes about it.

I was scared that when Rachel stumbled into our lives, Gar was going to leave me on my own. I didn't want to go back to what I had known before him. He shocked me by begging them to let me join them, promising that I would be a great addition to whatever team they were forming.

I joined as soon as I could.

Gar's pattern of trying to make me happier didn't stop when we left the house. He was still comforting me and talking to me. He encouraged me when I had to show the rest of them my power. He promised me that everything would be okay.

To put it simply, he did everything in his power to keep from letting the progress of his work from going backward.

He kept doing that... up until our confrontation with Trigon. Well, the first one.

That had been when I first kissed him.

I had just snapped out of whatever Trigon's spell was. I saw him in the grass and all I could do was run to him and hug him. The darkness had crept into my bones and had been trying to make a home there. It made me feel nauseous, knowing that I could so easily be dragged into that.

I had leaned back and cupped the sides of his face. I had no interest in ever losing that sunshine that I had been lucky enough to have been given.

I kissed him out of instinct.

He stared at me with wide eyes.

"Sorry," I muttered.

He shook his head. "Don't be."

I smiled at him.

Then, the next big change in my life happened.

We all moved into the Titan Tower.

I expected to be scared and angry. But I wasn't.

Instead, as I stood in the middle of that room, I found myself completely at peace. Like this was the right move for me. Like I was finally ready to put a few posters on the walls.

I took a deep breath, letting the environment of the room wash over me.

"(Y/n)."

I looked at Gar, who was now standing in my doorway. We didn't share a room because everything was new and we were young. He must've been trying to get my attention for a little while. His eyebrows were furrowed, and that worried frown was on his face.

"Are you alright," he asked.

I felt a grin spread across my face. "Yeah. I'm alright."

He walked over. "I know that change isn't your favorite-"

"I'm fine," I grabbed his hand. "Really. I... This change isn't as difficult as others have been. It's easier with you."

He smirked a bit and raised an eyebrow at me. "Is that right-"

"Shut up," I mumbled.

There was a brief moment before I moved forward and hugged him tightly. I relaxed a little bit more as he hugged me back.

I can't say what my life would have been if I had never met Gar. And I never wanted to picture that.

I was just grateful that I had him at all.

Nothing beyond that would ever matter to me.

♡-He loves to drag his sharp, pointy fangs across ur neck, he drags them across ur jawline, down to the base of ur neck and around ur collarbone. Sensing as u shiver and ur heart races in fear and arousal. Ur a bit scared obviously because what if he decides to bite down u? Those sharp fangs digging into the soft flesh of ur neck as he sucks on a bit of ur warm, tasty blood. We all know you'd like that tho.

♡- Miles loves softly digging his fangs into any part of ur body, like ur arm, lips, thighs, neck, especially ur neck and thighs. He loves how he can hear ur heart race as u start to get nervous, watching as u squirm under him, what hes doing is driving u insane, but u love it. He sometimes actually draws a bit of blood and sometimes he just wants u to feel the sting and to tease u, he knows u like it, no, love it.

♡- Another way that he uses his fangs to tease u is by "innocently" having them come out while u guys are having a calm, sweet conversation. U always notice when he does this, i mean, how couldn't u notice? Those big, sharp, shiny fangs of his that u oh so wish he could dig into u. Can't let him know that tho cuz he most definitely will, no hesitation whatsoever. To late to keep that secret now tho hm? Cuz he already knows, he always does, with ur heartbeat racing, lack of eye contact and lip biting, it says it all.

♡- this one is short but he loves leaving bite marks on u, on ur neck, arms and thighs. I mean, how else are people gonna know who u belong to? <3

ur wing bois au has single-handedly inspired me to attempt to write my own fanfics sooo.... any advice for a first time writer? ive only ever written essays so i feel a lil out of my depth when writing people

First Time Writing....

The first thing you write isn't going to be good. Nor is the second. Or the third or the fourth...etc. That's okay! Writing, like art, can have some innate talent, but it's also learned. It takes practice. As you learn to recognize flaws you can work on fixing them. Just don't expect to produce a masterpiece the first time you sit down to write!

When you read, try to look at it critically and identify WHAT you like about it. This is usually better done with published fiction, but you can do it on fanfiction too! Is it pacing? Character interactions? Dialogue, etc. Doing this will help you learn what to improve in your writing.

If you're writing for the first time, don't bite off more than you can chew! That epic 20 chapter story in your brain? Put it off to the side for now. Try writing a oneshot. Or even just a scene. Pick one moment you love and do just that, without context.

So often I see beginning writers with great ideas get bogged down in the mire of setup and backstory and get burnt out. Drabbles are great for just doing little starter bites of writing.

Honestly...starting small is probably the most important thing on this list? If it's not great, that's okay because you didn't invest three months into it, ya know? Prompt events or drabbles based on a story can be nice intros.

You've likely seen some of the WB ones others have done. Personally, I appreciate when people ask the first time they want to write something, but it's certainly not a requirement and likely varies from creator to creator!

It doesn't have to be perfect to post it. Tagging correctly on tumblr and AO3 will help with exposure, but honestly sometimes it's a real toss up XD Improvement and sticking with it usually help, even if that's not the fun answer.

hey saw ur comment on the man city fix it fic ab Jamie’s fathers death & was wondering what u disliked ab the Jamie’s mum and Simon part? not judging or anything im just curious!!

yeaaaaaaah so! from what ive seen at least this is a not particularly common opinion which is fine, im aware i have some particular biases and priorities and whatnot in this area, but it just… i didnt like that stuff at all. it really put me off actually, for a couple reasons. i'll get into why, but i know a lot of people like Really Loved that stuff and especially his mom - and it also gets a little down on season 3 and the writing team as a whole at some points lmao - so i'll put it under a cut.

(this got. very long. im so sorry.)

it basically boils down to a couple things: 1. what they presented us with doesn't hold water if poked literally at all in any direction, 2. it made me feel a little uncomfortable given the way everything else in jamie's arc played out, and 3. if they were going to do something like this, they needed WAY more time and narrative space to execute it well in general and specifically for ME to execute it in a way that didn't leave a bad taste in my mouth.

there are a few things that i generally dread when you have a character who's presented to have some serious trauma related to their family and specifically to an abusive parent, and one of those things is the sudden inclusion of another parent in there who is just. everything is totally fine and normal and happy and not at all complicated with them! it always makes me feel weird and bad when that happens, especially when there is no explanation provided for how that like. fits in with the abuse we know they experienced as well. that is a matter of personal preference, and i can own that. i just don't like it, and it makes me feel weird and uneasy. and that's part of it here, but what's also part of it is that i think that - my personal feelings about this type of character choice overall aside - they did not execute it well given the story they'd already presented us with, the way they used these new characters, and how much time they spent on it.

the image they presented of jamie's mom and stepdad is like… very simple and positive and shiny and uncomplicated. it's just good. they just love and support him and are a positive and affectionate active presence. and that might seem like an unfair characterization of it because we saw very little and we know very little of what their relationship is actually like - we don't know what might be complicated, what might be messy, how often they talk, etc - but that’s honestly part of my issue here. we were given a sliver of a glimpse into jamie's mom and his relationship with her and his stepdad when jamie as a character is someone who is hugely defined by his family history and the baggage and trauma and danger associated with it. if they were going to do this, they needed to spend way more time on it. they needed to introduce her earlier, do something to make it jive with what we were already presented about her: some vague mentions, half of which were in past tense, and all of which seemed to imply very strongly that if she were alive (which there was a lot of confusion about!) then they were likely to some degree estranged, because it seemed pretty clear with the 'i don't know if she would be [proud] lately' bit that he literally did not know what she thought of him in recent years. and like. it seems like i'm nitpicking, but again, this is a character who has been so strongly based in and defined by his family and the like. past and current danger and trauma associated with it.

especially given how little time or attention was given to everything else with his family, it was just way too late in the game to introduce these characters and be able to do them and their relationship with the existing characters justice. like you’ve already got a complicated story you’re skipping most of and not giving its due do you really need to add more really complicated stuff in there. and then just go actually it's not complicated don't worry about it :) like. that just doesn't work for me.

so that's where i'm at like, not only do i inherently dislike this sort of element introduced with this type of character, which is a me problem, i also think the story they presented in that episode with his mom and simon just flat out didn't make sense and they did not have the time to make it make sense even if they'd tried, which they didn't. like... if things are just fine and normal and easy with them and she’s just great and loving and supportive it’s like i. So What Happened, Then.

it makes his entire arc make less sense. if she's just Been Here what happened? why did he need to be reminded that not EVERYONE in his life was out to get him? why did keeley have to tell him to stop battling everyone that was just trying to help him? why is he so isolated and adrift at the beginning of season two? why did she never attend a single match? why did we never see him text or call or mention her in a contemporary way? like there COULD be answers to those things that make sense with what they presented, but we didn't get any of those answers and those are big questions to me given they comprise like... all of jamie's character arc lmao. at the end of the day, throwing in the stuff with his mom feels... really disrespectful to the story they wrote with him (that they already fell down on the job with) to just throw that in there with no consideration or attention paid to how it fits with or impacts anything already established.

i truly don't think that every question needs to be answered in a story. i am not saying that. i'm not saying someone needed to turn to the audience and go here's the logistic details of exactly how and when everything that happened with jamie and his parents happened. but there are some serious issues with like, telling a coherent story, and utilizing the extremely limited narrative space that a secondary character in an ensemble show can be afforded. (especially when in season three it really felt like they were already racing through characters and plot lines and backstory stuff like the goal was to just drop info just to Have It and then never address or do anything with it at all.) why did they do that, is what i keep going back to. you're telling a story with very limited space and a lot of characters. so what was the reason for that stuff to be there? so that someone could lay the 'yea he was a dick but he made you into this person! you're so strong now!' foundation for ted telling jamie to forgive his dad and 'disappointed teacher face' him into saying 'thank you' after the 'fuck you'? or was it just fanservice that you didn't think needed to fit with the rest of the story narratively or thematically? because that's where i keep going back to as well.

it just... and this is the bitchier, more spiteful part of me saying this, the part that was PROFOUNDLY let down by the way they handled the aspects of jamie's arc to do with his family and with the abuse he suffered, but it feels like an attempt to use happy sparkly fanservice-y funny and feel-good scenes with his adorable mom and sweet stepdad to like. pull way back on the rest of his whole situation with his family like see no he’s fine! isn’t it great how funny and adorable his mom is! isnt his stepdad fun! everything is fine actually things with his dad are just ~complicated because james drinks :) (and then all he needs to do about that is grow up and forgive, he's just a melodramatic mama's boy, the pain is his fault and he'll be fine once he Forgives, and rehab fixes everything). i don't have some kind of conspiracy that this was their actual reasoning but that's how it hit to me - whoops we don't actually want to deal with the abuse so we're gonna sweep it way under the couch and look! see! here's his cute fun mom isn't she great! (He's Fine Don't Worry About It, His Family Is Actually Sooooo Supportive!)

but yeah that's the bitchy and unfair part of me so. that's not really my main point.

(i also gotta say everything about that sequence with jamie and company at his mom's house feels like... tissue paper thin and very fucking weird from both a narrative and a logistical point of view. the stuff with the actual people of his mom and stepdad aside, what the hell was up with his room? what was that poster of keeley doing there. when did that go up. how old was he when he put it there. yeah she's older than him by a fair bit but not THAT much older. and if he was putting it up as like, a teenager or something, why is the rest of that room decorated for a seven year old. parents preserve their kids rooms like shrines this is true but the idea of a like, jamie in his mid/late teens or whatever putting that poster of keeley up but also sleeping in a little kid's bed still is like... did you think about this at all. it really does not seem like you did. At All. it just goes to my spiteful fringe theory about that whole sequence which is “oh this is pure 100% gratuitous backpatting fanservice that nobody actually thought about in any real way whatsoever”)

sorry this got so long but i have a lot of thoughts on this and they get kicked up every time i see posts gushing about how much people loved georgie or those scenes or whatnot like everyone is of course entitled to their opinion and i don't hold it against anyone! but that stuff hit way different for me and just added insult to injury in an episode that generally seemed to handle jamie and his situation in a way i found cringeworthy and weird at best and offensive and victim blaming at worst.
