What's this? A sabertooth longhorn beetle (Macrodontia cervicornis), which is native to South American rainforests. Bizarre and beautiful, yes?

So remember the beetle I found last month but it flew away?
Lo and behold, I found the body. 100% ded unfortunately. But on the flip-side, I have a collectible figure. Idk how to pin insects so the fact that it’s already posed so nice is cool.
As to where I found it….
The plastic cup in the corner of the room. My theory is that it flew in there but couldn’t get out.

This is a Leragator. I created this thing for a creature design contest a friend was holding on DA back in 2005. I used Micron black and color pens; I was experimenting with them at the time.

Animation practice. Big guy from a setting I’d like to touch once I’m somewhat established. I purposely avoided it with Broadside Renegades as I’ve been toying with this universe for probably over a decade now, not mentally ready to blow it if my first project flops haha. (Sprite is small but he’s a good 2-3 humans tall in adulthood)

it keeps getting warmer and warmer so i’m wondering how big are the bugs gonna get if it doesn’t get cold enough to kill them in winter??
