I´ve got three days to study for my next exam and of course I`m ill 😷 (I´m on my second litre of tea today and now I´m out of teabags, yay)
Also: sorry for being so inactive these past weeks, life has been a b**** lately.

An Element's Beginning
What Makes an Element an Element?
An element is a simple form of matter that cannot be further broken down by chemical means,
Different elements have different proton, neutron, and electron numbers and are made of different, smaller particles. However those particles cannot be broken apart.
How Does an Element Get its Name?
New elements don't get permanent names when they are first made, instead the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) uses a naming system involving the atomic number with a Latin root and the suffix -ium at the end of the word.
For the permanent name, the scientist usually suggests a name that follows the guidelines that it be named after a mythological concept, a mineral, a place or country, a property, or scientist. After this the public can comment for a span of 5 months.
Today...
scientists work hard to try to add to the periodic table, and new elements usually cannot even stay together for a second (decays very quickly)

Using the morning to rewrite my lecture notes of the past week(s) before my sister arrives in a few hours. ❤️
(Btw the jar on the left is an avocado pit which I´m preparing to plant/grow, not something to drink 😂)

Day 21/100
I'm currently colour-coding the summary for my next exam:
red = very important concepts / information
green = must know
grey = less important or already learned in earlier classes
Also: stay hydrated!

Day 6/100
Phase 3: Memorize ✔️
Phase 4: Verify ✅ (In progress)
This is how I memorize flashcards:
I write down everything I can remember, check if I got everything right and if not, I correct the mistakes or add missing things in red, so in the end I can instantly see how much I got wrong and specifically concentrate on what's written in red.
(it also very successfully prevents the "yeah I would've known that"–moments that I get quite often when I just flip through flashcards and answer them in my mind)

I am incredibly frustrated right now.
This lecture has close to 1000 slides for the semester, most of them in an order that just doesn't seem to make sense in any way.
The same topics turn up at 3 different points in time, each time with new and random information which makes it impossible to write my summary by hand (which I usually do because it helps me memorize the material).
Most of the slides seem to be a collection of random keywords without any explanation or apparent connection to the topic.
I attended every single lecture and payed attention. And I still have no idea how I am supposed to study this effectively.

Day 1/100
Phase 1: Summary ✔️
Phase 2: Understanding ✔️
Phase 3: Memorize ✅
Phase 4: Verify ✅
P.S.: If anyone's looking for perfect study background music, check out the Main Menu Theme from Life Is Strange (there's a 1 hour version of it on YouTube).
This has been my study soundtrack since the day I finished that game (which btw is an absolute gem and I'd recommend it to everyone ♥️). It is calm enough not to distract me but it drowns out background noise very well.

Work work work 💪🏻
I went shopping today to get new flashcards and some post-its and stuff so I can fully launch into exam preparations this weekend.
For now I'll rewrite the remaining lectures I had this week and enjoy some videos ✒️

Kinda annoyed that half of the stuff this excercise is about wasn't in the lectures or the slides 🙄
But my grandma sent me a care packet with homemade "Linzertorte" and I have a fridge full of fruit, which keeps me going 💪🏻
Also I'm really looking forward to seeing the new Fantastic Beasts this evening ✨

Absolutely in love with the plant hanger I got for christmas!
Now I just have to wait for my cutting to grow roots 🌱🌿
This makes the view while studying even prettier 📖📘

My little plant corner is constantly getting prettier 🖤
I'll soon need to buy a suitable pot for my propagated baby in the hanger since it's growing roots quite fast 🌿🌱
Also I can't wait for spring, I think both my monstera and my calathea hate winter. The former stopped growing leafs with slits over the winter and the latter one keeps getting brown spots on the leafs from dry heating air (I need to spray her more frequently) 😔

Little pre-class snack and planning ahead this week, starting with meals 🥙
I'm trying to eat healthier. I haven't been eating super unhealthy, but I tend to snack on a lot of sweets mostly when I'm bored, so I'm trying to switch to more filling and healthy snacks and more balanced meals to keep me full 😊
(Additional information: I just dropped my snack face down while typing this 😑 at least it hit the plate 🤷🏻‍♀️)
