Below the poll is a series of animal images labeled A through J. A is the least close to the birds we have today; J is the closest. If you encountered these animals in the wild, which would you call birds? If you pick a higher up option, then that means you consider all the below ones birds as well - so if you pick A, then BCDEFGHIJ are all birds. If you pick J, only J is a bird.

PLEASE REBLOG THIS SO IT CAN LEAVE PALAEOBLR. I NEED PEOPLE WHO DON'T RECOGNIZE THESE ANIMALS ON SIGHT TO VOTE.
I apologize to all of y'all with vision impairments for whom this poll is inaccessible. Alas, this is an experiment, and I cannot name the taxa. Thank you.

The first thing the intellect does with an object is to class it along with something else. But any object that is infinitely important to us and awakens our devotion feels to us also as if it must be sui generis and unique. Probably a crab would be filled with a sense of personal outrage if it could hear us class it without ado or apology as a crustacean, and thus dispose of it. “I am no such thing, it would say; I am MYSELF, MYSELF alone."
William James, The Varieties of Religious Experience: A Study in Human Nature

“ The Kardashev scale: Classifying alien civilizations.
Kardashev's scale is included in a five-page paper published in 1964 and called "Transmission of information by extraterrestrial civilizations."
It’s a classification system for hypothetical extraterrestrial civilizations. The scale includes three categories based on how much energy a civilization is using.🌎
Type I: "technological level close to the level presently attained on the Earth."
Type II:"a civilization capable of harnessing the energy radiated by its own star."
Type III: "a civilization in possession of energy on the scale of its own galaxy.
"Each type also includes a numerical cut-off for the energy involved, but those weren't arbitrary cut-offs. "He used things that are easy to visualize,"
Valentin Ivanov, an astronomer at the European Southern Observatory who has built on Kardashev's work, told Space.com. "I'm almost tempted to say it's a publicity stunt, these comparisons that he uses to make it easier for people to understand."
Although the scale is what caught people's imaginations, "Transmission of information by extraterrestrial civilizations" focuses on calculating how powerful a light signal from any point of the universe would need to be for radio scientists at the time to detect it. This value is also the numerical cut-off for the energy use of a type II civilization.

I'm still having problems finding the difference between the species and subspecies of giraffes. The coat is very similar but when you look closely, the pattern is clearly different. Still, some subspecies patterns are very similar. I hope I can differentiate them after all. I must say, I am enjoying drawing them all. Is not so time-consuming as the rhino or the tiger and I am happy with the result. Kordofan Giraffe
Is a subspecies of the Northern Giraffe species. Found in Northern Cameroon, Southern Chad, and possibly Sudan. Many European zoos thought they had Nigerian Giraffes but DNA studies demonstrate that what they have is the Kordofan Giraffe.
This can be an advantage because this subspecies is critically endangered. The animal is hunted for its meat because poachers can feed on it for weeks. On the other hand, some of its body parts are also used to make luxury goods. Since is recognized as a subspecies, efforts to conserve this animal are now more important than ever. ___________________________________________________

[If you're in Texas, brother, you eat some queso. Peppers and onions. Jalapeños. Would cite the classification of spirits as another example. FIERI: Got to put a little corn chip on it. El Jefe. Like a boss, brother.]
