a detective’s burden
The detective stands before the mangled remains of the witness they had spoken to only that morning. They bite their lip and close their eyes, but the image still burns an image into their brain. Eyes bright with life are dull, expressionless. Skin pulled tight along the bones. Limbs locked. The detective’s eyes begin to burn.
“You’re too late,” a familiar voice whispers from over their shoulder. The detective whips around, not in the least bit surprised to see the villain standing before them. Somehow, it’s their enemy’s confident tone that sets them off. Admittedly, they had been close to the brink of something ever since stepping into the building and laying eyes on the bloodied corpse. The killer is likely long gone, and the detective can’t help but adjust to the nearest target- the villain.
“You think I don’t know that?” the detective snaps, entirely unable to stop the words from falling from their tongue. Their hands are trembling at their sides, and they dig their nails into their palms in a half-hearted attempt at maintaining control. “I am always too late. Every single time.”
The villain doesn’t say anything and, for the first time, the detective wishes their loudmouthed personality would shine through. Why aren’t they saying anything?
“But, that’s my job, right?” the detective laughs, loud and cracked. “I’m a detective! We’re always too late. Preventative action? Never heard of it. After all, our best work comes after the fact, right?
“I-I can’t solve a problem if the problem doesn’t exist... I just have to fucking wait for people to die, and then, suddenly, I’m useful!”
“Detective Hayes.” The detective can hardly hear the villain over the roaring in their ears and the despair in their heart. They sink down to the floor, shakily putting their hands over their ears in an attempt to stop the rhythmic yet overwhelming noise.
“I- I don’t understand.” The detective isn’t quite sure who they’re talking to anymore. The world around them is morphed and tilted, blurred and convoluted. There’s a sickening awareness anchored deep in their chest, a knowledge of the corpse positioned but a few hundred feet away from them. The breath seems to leave their chest all at once, rendering them feeling winded and empty. Familiar green eyes meet theirs, glinting with an unfamiliar concern. A calloused hand grips theirs and the detective gasps, ripped from the cloudy haze of unreality right back to the crimson-stained nightmare that occupies the room with them.
“It’s okay,” the villain whispers, with a voice far too kind to be theirs. A nauseating feeling rises in the detective’s chest. Is this really the depths to which they’ve sunken- forced to seek comfort from a killer? Nothing about their life seems to be making sense now.
“It isn’t okay,” the detective shakes their head rapidly, unable to utter more than stammers and stutters. Their hands tremble as they shake off the villain’s grip. “Nothing about this is okay.”
“This isn’t your fault,” the villain continues, their eyes filled with sympathy and pity. The detective wants to be surprised by their persistence, but the only feelings dominating their heart are guilt, regret, and a misguided yet powerful rage.
“Of course it’s my fault,” the detective scoffs, their irritation beginning to reach a boiling point. They’re grateful for the villain’s compassion but, at the same time, it’s clearly forced. Besides, deep down, the detective knows that everything that happened is entirely their fault. Nothing will convince them otherwise. “I talked to her this morning. You know what she asked me? She asked me if she’d be safe. I promised her she would be. God, I’m really nothing but a liar.”
 “You can’t protect everyone.”
“Evidently, I can’t protect anyone,” the detective pinches the bridge of their nose. The torrent of emotions coursing through them shows no signs of stopping. “I’m just here to point the finger after the murder. That’s really all I'm good for. Fingerprints and bloodstains...”
The villain tries to say something, anything, but no words fall from their lips. They don’t know what to say. Judging from the devastated and resigned expression on the detective’s face, there is absolutely nothing they can say that will help. So, instead, they are forced to watch as the detective pushes themselves to their feet and walks back over to the crime scene. As much as the villain would like to stay, law enforcement will arrive soon. They take one final glance at the detective, but the only things they can make out are the tight line to their shoulders and their clenched fists. The villain bites their lip and leaves, wondering just how the world’s brightest minds got to carry the darkest shadows.

author’s note: This is loosely inspired by Herlock Sholmes from GAA- in particular, one of his remarks in the later chapters of the game. He says something like “What’s the point of being a great detective if I can’t prevent things like this from happening?” [or something like that.... I don’t remember exactly how he said it.] It was kind of a throwaway comment, but it did leave an impact on me. I wanted to expand upon that theme- the idea of always being “too late,” so to speak.
I was struggling to finish this snippet for a little bit. I wasn’t sure how to carry on with the conversation, how to write a line for the villain that would bring the detective out of their despair. It wasn’t until today that I realized: I didn’t have to. I think I can get caught in the trap of the hero/villain dynamic and the expectations that come with writing such a dynamic [one party is the one being comforted, the other is the one providing comfort.] I reread what I had written so far and realized that this snippet didn’t *need* that kind of ending. In all reality, I don’t think that there was anything that could’ve been said to the detective that would’ve helped. After all, they are... sort of right. Deep down, the villain acknowledges this. Thus, the sort of uncertain ending.
yuh!! hehe. thanks for reading, everyone <3

Garage Sale
Well, when the Fentons decided to have a garage sale Danny didn't expect many to be interested. His parents were looking for a way to get money quickly to build more stuff, and he jokingly suggested they could sell some inventions, they took it seriously (Jazz made sure to remove all the lethal inventions, she tried with the ones that might be risky but then they wouldn't sell anything).
Danny knew his parents were strange yes, but he wasn't sure that justified millionaires in his backyard. Millionaires, he'd like to clarify, had never set foot in Amity Park before. He raised an eyebrow at the sight of Bruce Wayne and his sons checking out the appliances. None of them seemed to be interested in the "ghosts" but they hadn't backed down from taking some things either.
So yes, Danny was suspicious. Of course he had made sure the inventions in the sale were safe (although unlike Jazz, he simply decided to make them safe, a few modifications here and there), but the fact that they looked genuinely interested made him uneasy.
Were the Waynes interested in hunting ghosts?
He decided to try something, he crossed eyes with one of them and let his green eyes show before looking away, the boy looked alarmed. He approached him and asked, but Danny feigned ignorance, commenting that all the inventions were green and maybe he had been confused by the reflection (to be fair, most of his parents' inventions were green because of the ecto).
For his part, Bruce had received an alert from Justice League Dark, it seemed they had detected a strange energy, similar to magic, so the bats set out to investigate. They didn't expect to find a garage sale in a house in the middle of nowhere (Amity Park wasn't even marked on the fucking map). Nor did they expect advanced technology or mad scientists.
Bruce decided to pretend he had stumbled into town as "Brucie Wayne" and buy a few things. He shuddered to see that many inventions worked with Lazarus water. Jason, who had strangely agreed to come along, was also upset about the son of the scientists.
Bruce questioned whether he had found a family of villains in the making.

Seeing how 'Wish' is supposed to be a celebration of a century of Disney that's chock full of homages and nods to their past films, no matter what happens in the film, there's really only one suitable end for King Magnifico:

You’re so wild for adding in a sixth romance option (not to mention seventh route). I remember how much restraint you had to exercise not making Falk an official LI (just an official flirt). This villain must be something special for you to take on this extra work. I cannot wait!!!
Oh yeah…this villain is definitely something very special, hehe! ;D
Not sure what that says about me wanting to keep romancing the antagonists, lol!
Cannot wait to write this romance though! Also your team’s reactions to such a doomed romance…
Gotta love that angst, hehe!
Thank you so much for the ask! :)

I'm sick of the ever brilliant, diabolical villains. I want a villain that's so dumb nobody can figure out what the fuck he's doing. I want the detective tasked at tracking him down constantly on the verge of tearing his hair out. I want bugs bunny level shenanigans between the two. and obviously I want it to be an enemies to lovers story.

SIGHHHHHH
I’ve always loved Ratigan’s design- it’s perfection. His large imposing figure (as he’s a rat, duh) compared to the rest of the cast, but because he disallows himself to be held to the regard of a rat he carries himself with immense grace. He’s so fluid and graceful for a character of his build, reflecting just how hard he’s worked to conseil his identity. It’s not that he wants to be a mouse, it’s that he doesn’t want to be perceived as a rat. Rats don’t exactly have the cleanest of reputations, and Ratigan refuses to let that fact define him. He’ll show them, he’ll show them all.

They feel like brothers to me alright
Tumblr media
....
|Bonus pets content|
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We have:
Ratigan as the middle one, even if everyone is sure that he was the absolute first to pop out...how even old is this man? This is truly a mystery. Got a love-hate relationship with the younger brother, even if, if the aforementioned brother would be in need help, nothing can stop him to be there for him.
We have Sikes that's supposedly the oldest. Short tempered, always comes with hands with the middle one, '...too much, too much plotting, plotting, plotting! Chitter chattering-!' But still, he has a lot of respect for his brilliant mind.
Then John-! Well. He's the youngest. The ray of sunshine. The untouchable. Even Ratigan never pulled his hairs when was little. John has to be the responsible braincell. He's the mediator between his oldest brothers.
When the three of them are together, two full hours cannot pass, without a grumbling or complaining. But at the end of the day, they all had cooked, eaten, and tidied up the kitchen; the house is- maybe a bit too frivolous- but clean, and the bills at the end of the month payed and archived.
(But wait! There's more)

Ghost Doctor
Danny became the new underground Gotham's doctor, unlike Dr.Leslie he treats anyone as long as they're willing to find him (and it is hard if is not the right time) and pay the price.
This may sound extremely sinister but the reality was that Danny was not interested in money; he was already King of a dimension and his funds were not going to run out while he was on vacations.
The treatments vary, along with the reviews, but this is due to the prices he give. When Danny treated the Joker, the clown ended up shaking and almost regretting his actions, falling into a laugh full of madness (Danny's price was simple: Face the same thing you put your victims through)
But when Dr. Freeze knocked on his door, tearfully begging to treat Nora, Danny cured her, his price being a smile and a plea "Live happily with your wife for as long as you can."
With all the knowledge that Frostbite teach him combined with Clockwork showing him all human advances on the future (is not illegal if your ghost parent show you) he rented a warehouse and with the help of some ghosts he dig a hole the same size as the warehouse but meters underground, after that he used his powers and sinked it directly into the hole; he developed all his machinery there, turning it into a Bunker that he was the only one who could access.
Therefore, Danny was a mystery, a danger, his prices were varied and he treated anyone: villain, hero, anti-hero, mafia, criminals, innocents, metas, etc. but your values and actions were what whispered your charge and not even an extremely high amount of money would convince him of giving you a different treatment.
Of course, when Jason jokingly visited him asking to cure the pits (He knew it had no cure), his slightest hope was rewarded when the Doctor simply smiled and accepted (His price? A date).

- if you don’t still know that am appreciating your writing a lot !! :D
Awwww, this could be... cute?

Language Barrier
Detective placed their neatly organized files onto the interrogation table with a dull 'thwap'. Pulling a chair out and seating themselves, Villain compared them idly to their files. Both of them dressed in a dark navy blue, with white--maybe beige--underneath.
"Villain, you are being detained under investigative motive for the murder of... Civilian." The detectives' eyes flicked from fixing their cufflinks to the criminal. "Is that correct?"
The villain couldn't help their smirk, but their demeanour didn't change otherwise. They noticed the cursive handwriting on the folder matched the detective's name tag, careful and tidy, just like every other aspect of them.
Upon the stretching silence the detective sighed, pulling their folder close before opening its pages to the villain's keen eyes. Villain found it almost intimate, but they often read into things too much. It was awfully easy when one was constantly stuck in their own head, mulling things over again and again.
Smoothly, the detective slid a large printed photo towards the villain, facing it towards them as they spoke. "This is you, correct?" The image was blurry, taken from a security camera Villain figured. "On the night of the fifth?"
The one in question didn't even bother to open their mouth nor communicate. Truthfully, the one in the footage was them, but purely by incident of 'right place, wrong time'. They had left by the backdoor only minutes later after realizing their error... The backdoor that had no camera to prove it.
This was going to be a shit-show no matter how they decided to deal with it, they may as well have a little fun.
"A simple yes or no will do the trick." The detective deadpanned, expression falling flat as they were losing their patience.
Villain grinned, shrugging as they leaned back in their seat; they were beginning to grow fond of this detective.
The detective made a face, somewhat mocking, somewhat annoyance, before they retrieved the image and shuffled through what seemed to be the next part of their discoveries. "You know your rights?" Holding a text document in hand they looked back up to the villain. "Or you just like being a pain in my ass?" They frowned, putting the document back as they continued their search.
Evidently, the villain said nothing. Tapping their fingers against their lap in boredom as they waited for the other to find what they needed to 'crack' the villain.
"Aha!" The detective blurted, jumping just a little bit off their seat due to their uncontrolled excitement.
Cute.
Villain would definitely have to come back sometime later, or break into their apartment. Either one would do.
Before the villain could blink a paper was shoved into their face. It was an image of text messages, ones off their personal phone which they had kept as private as possible. Apparently not to the detective.
"Proof. That you were the last person in contact with the victim and your conversation is practically a confession." The detective waved their arms around a little while the villain studied the messages, sure they were off their personal phone, but they weren't theirs. They didn't even know the victim, let alone have text arguments with them.
The criminal's mouth hung open, reading over and over the words in bubbles across the paper. Triple checking the number at the top to make sure it wasn't theirs...
Seven-Nine-One Three-Two-Nine Five-Five-Eight-Seven
It was theirs alright.
"Got ya." The detective peered over the print, a smug smile on their moisturized face, giving it a sheen and a soft smell of coconuts. With two hands on the table they leaned forwards even more. "Still speechless? Or have you got something to say now that you've been caught?"
Villain lowered the image back to the table, noses practically touching between the two of them when there was no barrier left. Deftly they swiped the prestigious looking pen from the detective's pocket, flipping the text picture over onto its face as they began to write, ignoring the yelp from the other.
'For someone as thorough as yourself, you still managed to miss the most important detail in your case.'
After twenty-four hours had passed the villain had been released due to insufficient evidence. With the detective unable to get them to 'talk' and the villain refusing to elaborate further, the officers had no choice.
Two days later, when the villain couldn't help themselves anymore, they were one foot through the window of the detectives' house when their eyes caught on the silhouette in the corner. Hunched over a book, mumbling incoherently to themselves and squinting against the light of their computer screen, Villain's heart pounded in their ears when they realized the detective was learning sign language.

AAAAAHHHHHH I've just seen a post from a fellow fan suggesting abt the villain romance becoming an option in A's route and since then i my head's a mess,, but.....can it be possible? 👀👀
The villain romance in Book Four will only be available as a separate option if you're not romancing any of Unit Bravo.
It's quite a lot writing all those romances without adding in the complication of another triangle, hehe! :D
Though not saying there might not be someone else who enters the MC's life in A's route when things seem impossible between the two in the future.
A did say they had to let the MC go, and the MC might just feel the same, after all....
Thank you so much for the ask! :)
