"oh you need to check your EE for any kind of plagiarism"
Nah bro, I'm autistic, writing a 4000 word essay about Twin Peaks was absolutely the most pleasurable experience ever.

lil bit of a rant but i'm doing this 'mini thesis' thing for grade 12 right. like i need to do it to get my diploma. and for this essay you can research ANYTHING you want from ANY subject so naturally i chose film. my topic revolves around Good Omens. it's changed a few times but now my research question is "For what purposes does Good Omens showrunner Neil Gaiman use mundane symbolism to convey the allegory of religious disaffiliation?". I still don't quite like how it's worded but i had to change my old wording because my supervisor is a little bitch. on the topic of him, he's also fucked up my entire thing. there a multiple film supervisors for this assignment, and i previously had another one (who was amazing btw), but this guy decides to come back to our school from leave and he HANDPICKED 5 students to supervise. one of them was me. this guy then calls me over in class and basically rips apart my entire topic saying i shouldn't talk about mundanity or disaffiliation (which i'm not taking out of the question because fuck him) and that he knows more about those things because he's the son of a pastor. dude. if you're the son of a pastor and you feel this strongly about religion (which is fine, until you start fucking me around), don't pick the one thesis that is focusing on how religion is basically just a cult and can be pretty harmful - eg. why these characters are disaffiliating.
anyway, im just super pissed off and i guess i've wrote all this now so... sorry. i don't really expect anyone to read it anyway just me trying to rant to the void.

god i cant wait to write my ee on some bullshit topic like how skibidi toilet is a metaphor for capitalism taking advantage of conflict between subgroups of civilization and how individuality is drowned out in a corporate society in order to fit into pre-set archetypes that we ourselves are trying to wrestle out of

Hi!!
Hey!! I'm starting this blog in order to tell my experience moving schools in middle of the IBDP. In this blog I also want to give tips and advice on what to do, in case you are a student going through something similar. I started this blog because I did not find any resources online that were of help to people in my situation, and I hope to change that with this blog. Feel free to reach out if you have questions or want advice on something! Good luck!

TOO BAD
How might one possibly begin to describe Taylor Swift? Country singer turned international pop phenomenon - one might even come across the phrase “she is the music industry”, which has become somewhat of a mantra amongst her fanbase. For the most part, this can be deemed true - as an artist she has ventured across genres, accomplishing what many may fail to achieve - recognisability across genres and continents. She has created pop music and country music, experimented with rock, synth-pop, hip-hop, electro-pop, funk, indie folk and many, many more. Swift has been creating music for the past 18 years and does not fail to surprise fans worldwide with each album she produces. The most shocking switch in her career might be deemed to come in 2020, with the unannounced release of sister albums, “folklore” and “evermore”, both created amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Completely breaking from her previous music style, Swift swapped the ‘earworm’ melodies of the pop genre for the sophistication of indie folk. “folklore” and “evermore” could be understood as the straw that broke the camel’s back - the albums that, metaphorically speaking, freed Taylor Swift from the expectations of the pop genre, allowing her to experiment with her music, and, most of all, with her songwriting. She has said at many occasions that she writes all her songs by herself and these albums could easily convince oneself that Taylor Swift is a true poet, except an excellent musician. “folklore” paved the way - and “evermore” proved that Swift was far from finished with folklore motives and delicate instrumentals.

to anyone considering currently choosing their ee topic in the ib program: please just do it in a subject you like, relating to a topic you already know about. don’t do what you think universities will want from you.
