The Fae and the Mortal pt2

Felt like a sequel shortly after the first entry.

This was going so, so badly. Mortal was outclassed and out of their depth.

The Fae Being only toyed with them, making it steadily more and more obvious how different their strengths were.

Still, covered in sweat, hair sticking to their forehead, shaking every time they took a stance, Mortal clung to it and gave it their best effort. They said they’d go ‘til they died after all, and they planned to stick to it and hope for some miracle opening to gut the Fae and come out on top.

Unfortunately the sweat on their forehead ran into both eyes at once, blinding them as it stung horribly, and it was an opening for the Fae instead.

The sword arm was grabbed, twisted, the blade forced unwillingly from Mortal’s grip as they were slammed against the tree.

Once, twice. On the third slam Mortal’s head connected to the rough bark and they saw stars. They couldn’t keep their footing and began to collapse as the Fae wrapped  both hands around Mortal’s throat, a vice that quickly tightened, causing Mortal to scrabble to pull them apart.

The Fae grinned maliciously as they slammed Mortal into the tree one last time for good measure.

“You are brave, if foolish. I’ll give you that,” the Fae said, “But now you will kneel to me, and come away, nothing left behind but your blade to warn others who think they can cross me.” So speaking they continued squeezing until the mortal was too weak to hold themselves up, after which point the Fae lowered them to their knees.

As Mortal’s eyes grew dim the Fae let up enough not to kill them, but tightly enough that the mortal’s hands eventually dropped and they passed out. The fae lowered them to the ground and practically danced over to the fallen blade. They slammed it nice and firmly into the ground, then touched the base. A dark black vine grew around the blade. Glowing purple flowers bloomed. Perfect! A lovely sign to others who might get ideas.

The Fae was certain as they returned and scooped Mortal up, that being carried away bridal style would have been the height of humiliation. But alas the Fae had to ensure no struggle.

They looked down on Mortal’s unconscious features and were given pause.

Mortal was  kind’a cute when knocked out.

Tomorrow was going to be interesting.

A selection of my garb from various weekends at @mdrenfest this year. Changing my hair color to #phoenixfirehair at the beginning of the season definitely inspired me to play outside of my usual palette of red and black. Also added several pairs of pants and lots more scarves to my garb. Both of which taught me important lessons on planning your garb for how you privie. (That was an adventure the first time. Wooo! 😂) Also really proud of improving my makeup game a bit this season, which gave me a chance to play with more colors and unique looks. So.... I recently discovered that the hodag was a thing, and I might be a little obsessed. ... He's described as having the head of a frog, teeth like an elephant, lateral horns like an ox, stocky legs with huge claws, a spiny back like a dinosaur, and long tail with spears at the end. He has fine green hair, glowing red eyes like a sunset, and a mischievous (and sometimes malicious) demeanor. Standing about 30 inches tall, he eats water snakes, mud turtles, fish and sometimes white bulldogs. Fairy Bowls

These upcycled fabric bowls are crafted by the hands of a small fae creature. She nips fabric scraps and selvages from unsuspecting seamstresses’ rubbish bins, and spins them into rope. Then she winds the rope and stitches them together to form bowls. Sometimes she also adds beads and pearls as she whims!

Possum House Lane is named after the aura possums that inhabit the Faun-ir forest and much of Kyrnis. Aura possums change color to reflect the aura of anyone nearby.

They’re in a category of wildlife called faecreatures, though they’re not fae. They don’t eat or do anything other animals might do, but they do build tiny houses in trees. So when Meadow got the opportunity to name a street, he felt his choice was obvious.

(In related news, Benji’s aura color is indigo, Ptery’s is green, and Luka’s is red.)

Habitat: Gesh Forest, Unseelie territory, heavily wooded areas

Rarity: Common

A tiny faecreature that is normally harmless unless provoked. The hooks in the ‘palm’ of their tails are used mainly to suck the nutrients out of fruits too large for the glowtail to carry in it’s mouth, but can be adequately used for a stinger if danger comes their way.
