You know something I really love about tumblr is that you don’t constantly get bombarded with stuff you’ve searched. Like when I’m in the mood I can indulge in the most sinful debaucherous content but as soon as I’m done? Bam back to all the fandom blog I usually follow and the usual Tumblr clowning

THE BLACK FLAMINGO book review
My closest friend Jean suggested I borrow this book from them because they said I would really enjoy it. And I did. I DEVOURED it, read it in less than a day, and I would for sure recommend it. 5/5 starts with no hesitation.
Unlike my usual review I will not be commenting on the book by giving explicit details, so I don't think a spoiler warning is needed but I'm gonna put it out there just in case.
⚠️ Spoilers ahead ⚠️
I believe I was the target audience for this book, as a Greek non-binary pansexual person, trying to live my truth, but at the same time I know this book was not meant for me. It was for all the (half) black gay men out there who struggle with their identity and the expression of their sexuality, of their gender, of their interests.
And before y'all come for me, let me explain. I'm not saying I could relate to the thoughts and struggles of Michael. On the contrary, actually, in a way it opened my eyes even more to a completely different pov. And I am not saying that this book is only meant for that group of people and not for another yada yada yada. This book is meant for everyone, no matter the race, sexuality, ethnicity, background etc. But it provides a pov that I, in a way, needed to experience.
The entire book is written in a journalistic manner with many poems that more than once made me stop reading in order to think and admire. The writing style changed as Michael grew older and wiser but always strayed true and very realistic. And together with him, I grew as well. I saw myself in his words and actions towards the end and made me realise how far I've come in my 21 years of life as a queer individual but as a person in general. I am proud of us.

Duchovny's 'Bucky Dent' is a gift for Jewish fathers – The Forward
Tumblr media
David Duchovny’s Bucky F–king Dent is many things: a heady satire, a heartfelt family drama, a romance and a ribald comedy. It’s about the power (and limitations) of illusion, the thin line between fact and fiction, and baseball as myth and metaphor.
Bucky F–ing Dent is well-paced and the performances are more than serviceable. Duchovny brings a nice touch of vulnerability to Marty’s irascibility, though at moments he seems a tad too young and healthy.

A "Reincarnated as a sword" review
ah feck i haven't done that in a while. let me see! A guy get's reincarnated in another world to mostly serve as a teaching narrarator to the true protagonist.
Tumblr media
The protagonist which will soon be named "Teacher" wakes up in an unknown world, balanced on a stone display. Realizing he got the basic cliche Isekai/gaming ability "appraisal", he now figured out that he is a sword, specifically, a so called "intelligence weapon" and even harbors some abilities of his own, like telepathy, which he uses to wield himself and slaughter different monsters for fun ... i mean to level up. his luck ran out the moment he landed on mana draining terrain, where a you girl of the black cat clan finds him.
I am so immensly suprised at how good this Anime is so far. I mean what would you think of this concept if you hear about it? not much and pure trash? yes i thought so too. but this anime might not be ground breaking or revolutionary, but exactly because it is as good as it is it managed to inspire me enough to finally write a review again.
first of all. you will obviously find certain cliches if you look for it, but that the main character is not the classic example of, every female being wants to bang them, is quite refreshing. As i already said is the reincarnated main character more of a teacher figure for the, what seems to be, the true Protagonist and also serves as a narative window for the viewers into this world and that is actually what makes this anime so good. It's not the classic example of protag being OP it's more a case of, protag knows his and his comrades abilities and shares our reaction when something suprising or interesting happens.
you obviously could say that is a cheap way of directing our own reactions and you might be right i won't deny that. but seeing the characters interact and specifically our reincarnated protag and our cat eared actual protag is in many moments, so far, just nice.
Will it be a mindbending experience? probably no Is it fun to watch? yes, very much Is it a very odd concept in a way to often milked genre? obviously is there any structural substance to the order of these questions? strawberry jam toast (no) is it worth watching, despite the doubts you might have? Absolutely
i would like to give it a higher ranking but for that i don't know enough. so i will give it a cautious 7/10 why? the interactions are fun, the concept is much better worked out than i thought and it is suprisingly solid so far. meaning. WATCH IT
Hope you liked it your God of Barista DR4POS

A Tumblr Review: Steven Universe - A Masterpiece of Identity and Representation
Hey there, Tumblr fam! I just had to take a moment to gush about Steven Universe, a show that has truly captured my heart and mind. From its brilliant animation to its thought-provoking themes, this cartoon has become a shining example of how media can shape our understanding of identity and representation.
First off, let's talk about the incredible character development. The recent Steven Bomb episodes have beautifully showcased the positive representation of LGBT+ relationships, with Ruby and Sapphire's fusion into Garnet on their own terms. It's just so damn sweet, cute, and beautiful to witness their love unfold on screen. Massive props to the creators for giving us such heartwarming moments.
But it doesn't stop there. Steven Universe delves deep into complex issues surrounding identity and authority. "The Tale of Steven" is a groundbreaking storybook that challenges societal norms and encourages readers to question authority. By having readers physically turn the book in different directions, it beautifully represents the journey of self-discovery and finding your own path.
Speaking of self-discovery, the show's exploration of Rose Quartz's character is nothing short of remarkable. Through Steven's perspective, we witness his confusion about his relationship to Pink and Rose, and eventually, his realization that he was always himself and no one else. This empowering message of self-acceptance and embracing one's true identity resonates so strongly, especially for trans and gender-expansive kids who deserve to see themselves represented.
Of course, it's not all rainbows and unicorns. There are valid concerns about the forgiveness of Rose's deceptions and the lack of exploration of her morally complex character. Additionally, some inconsistencies regarding the creation of the Human Zoo and Rose's involvement in it have been pointed out. It's essential to have these conversations to ensure a more nuanced understanding of the show's narrative.
Overall, Steven Universe is a masterpiece that has made a significant impact on the way we perceive identity, representation, and the power of love. It's a show that embraces diversity, challenges societal norms, and encourages self-acceptance. So, if you haven't already dived into this gem of a series, I highly recommend it. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

Otaki Airforce - Another Review
“I recently had the pleasure of listening to the music of Otaki Airforce and I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed. This artist has a unique and captivating sound that blends elements of hip hop, electronic, and pop in a way that is both fresh and exciting. One of the things that really stands out about Otaki Airforce’s music is the production quality. The beats are tight and polished, and…

where is my wife
Amazon review on this Morrow edition of "Good Omens" by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett I found this morning that left me laughing in tears right from the title.
... Actually, in hindsight, having seen the ineffable divorce™️ of Season 2, the fact that the only thing left on the cover is his glass of wine makes me so sad. It's like Crowley, having now been through all that, has left his glass of wine in the bookshop and is refusing to come back since Aziraphale is gone. Muriel doesn't really want to touch what Crowley left in the hopes he will be back soon and maybe still want his glass of "whine", whatever that is. He seemed sad last time they saw him, so that's probably what they meant by "whine".
.... Wait a minute though, did Aziraphale write this review?!? "WHERE IS MY WIFE?" ?!?!?
Okay it's time to tag him, this has gone off the rails and so have I. @neil-gaiman please explain. Thank you. (Love your work, actually. But also... What is going on here.)
Update, not even 10 hours after I originally posted this: Neil himself liked the post. I'm freaking out a normal amount about it.

PS: here's a lil thank you post for all the notes I'm getting, holy hell!!!

The defintion of hell is knowing a show is incredibly well-received in its first season, but if people don’t become machines churning out tweets, content, and rewatching 24/7, there’s no likelihood it’ll get a chance to tell its whole story. This shit is madness. Shows in different genres shouldn’t have to pit-battle for dominance. First seasons are MEANT to be baselines establishing worlds and characters, not complete storylines. The idea that this golden age of television has turned into “get it done in one or get out” is revolting.

Tribeca Film Festival Review: 'Bucky F*cking Dent' is a Riot of a Dramedy From David Duchovny - Awards Radar
The book came out in 2016, after all. Luckily, it’s here now in 2023 and it’s among the best Tribeca Film Festival titles so far.
Adapting his own novel and directing, Duchovny is having the time of his life behind the camera (as well as clearly in front of it). His script, based on his book, is a hoot, while his direction is very solid.
As far as Tribeca goes, this is one of the most purely enjoyable films so far.

Normally we'd make a joke about Good Omens here but we're still too emotionally fragile about it to do so.
The long-awaited second season of Good Omens is finally out on @primevideo, and, well, it's gonna be a long wait for season three. Thanks to all the fan artists and fic writers who will hold us over until then. The Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir movie premiered on @netflix, and fans are delighting in drawing comparisons with the show. Five Nights at Freddy's Ruin DLC dropped, so we hope all y'all are enjoying all the new frightening gameplay. One of the most anticipated manga chapters of Jujutsu Kaisen was animated in the latest episode, while the manga itself has been a continual spiral of mind-blowing fights. The trailer for the film adaptation of Red, White, & Royal Blue is whipping fans into a tizzy. Finally, Twitter is X now. Sure. This is Tumblr's Week in Review.
