i love both Wessa and Jessa and i just wanted to know where you stand on the two dynamics. I love Will and i love Jem for different reasons. Jem for me represents this feather light airy love that shines while Will represents that really deep cacophony of love that is deeper then any witching well.

If i were to describe the two different dynamics via swiftie songs it would be-

Jessa: invisible string, wildest dreams, clean, timeless, snow on the beach, my tears ricochet, the lakes

Wessa: red, maroon, midnight rain, dress, i see you, false god, cruel summer

Where do you stand in all of it? Do you feel like there should be one finite endgame for Tessa? Or do you think its balanced and both should end up with Tessa at certain points? Do you like Jessa post-TID?

I'd just love to know your stance on it all :D xxx

I LOVE ANY VARIATION OF HERONGRAYSTAIRS, LITERALLY.

Wessa 10/10, Jessa 10/10, Heronstairs 10/10, HERONGRAYSTAIRS ++ 10/10

I remember reading TID for the first time and being as confused as Tessa, and I remember being scared she would choose one, and I would have been pissed for the other. I was like, If she chooses Will, I'm pissed because Jem is the real man in this book, and if she chooses Jem, I'll be pissed too because Will deserves the world. IT WAS A MESS IN MY HEAD, and I am extremely happy CC chose this ending. If Tessa had ended up with one, it would have been like all the other boring love triangles we are used to, and the series would not have been as loved as it is right now.

I love your descriptions of both dynamics. For me, Wessa is bantering, it is crazy adventures (they go on vacation in old gothic castles), it is big gestures of love, the shameless PDA couple, but when they are alone, they are laid back, they read books, and I don't know, they just enjoy the company of each other in front of a fireplace. Will is a very loud person, but only when he's surrounded by people, once he's alone with Tessa, he's pretty chill.

Contrary to the Jessa dynamic, which is very calm, beach vacations and on the quiet side, but once they are alone, it's very passionate (ex: the make-out scene in cp1, after the bridge, the proposal, etc.), that's because Jem is a very intense character, even though we don't get his POV, and he's written to be seen through the eyes of Will and Tessa, (something I'm still pissed about, but that's for another post).

So yeah, I'm a Wessa/Jessa stan. The funny thing is that I follow people who cannot stand Will, who find him the star that outshines everyone, just because CC loves her Herondale boys (which he's not, I actually find him very reserved, he's just loud around his people). And I also follow people ( I highly appreciate) who cannot stand Jem, because for them he's everywhere, (which is also wrong, because let's be honest, GotSM was all about Will, they literally go after Kit, because of Will). Modern Jessa, if they don't mention Will at least one time, they die. Some readers also think that Tessa moved too fast, after the death of Will, and was ready to throw it all for Zach and find this out of character and disrespectful of her life with Will. AND I'M LIKE, GUYS WE DON'T HAVE THE SAME READING OF TESSA, SHE LITERALLY FUCKED WILL AFTER SHE LEARNED THAT HER FIANCÉ/BESTIE OF HER OTHER CRUSH DIED. If there is one thing CC is good at, and did not ruin, is the continuity of these 3 characters through the series.

To each their own, I guess, it's not a dictatorship lol, but it's been more than 10 years, and if readers still don't understand that they are a three-package deal, it's their choice. It's Jem, Will and Tessa, they all love each other waaay too much, but it's them. I would have loved to explore more of Will and Jem when they were kids though, because my babies only had 5 years together. Too bad CC is only writing romance stories in her upcoming 10-story novella. I would have loved to have a story of young Jem and Will.

Anyway, I will finish this really cool question with my two fav quotes about these three characters, who have been in my heart since my teenage years.

“Sharing your husband’s heart so entirely with someone else,” he said. 

“If it were different, it would not be Will’s heart,” Tessa said. “He knows he shares my heart with Jem as well. I would have it no other way—and he would have it no other way with me."

Okay. I don't know if what I'm going to say will make sense or not, so bear with me please.

I know we barely had any context with the epilogue, and we don't know much about what happened during that time skip but...

Aren't most of the TMI and LBAF gang being kinda hypocrites? I know they are a very protective bunch and might be worried about Lance and the prophecy, but it seems like gratuitous hate and disregard towards Kincaid. I mean, he may be the Crimson King and son of those worms, but what fault does he have besides that? He genuinely seems to be a sweet kid. And I want to believe that if someone so pure like AJ fell in love with him, there is genuine goodness there. He can’t help the family he was born into or the fate a damn prophecy put on him. In special the TMI gang should know better than judge someone from their parentage, and the LBAF gang regarding prophecies and shit. They saw what one did to David. Now it's as if they're putting on Kincaid the same treatment Kyle and the others had towards David. And again, I know where they're coming from. Fear and love for Lance, but... uh, isn't that kind of behavior that ends up triggering a prophecy? Couldn't they have tried to find a way, maybe getting to know their supposedly enemy first? At least it would've prevented a forbidden love story... Poor AJ stuck in the middle.

Sorry, I know it's too early for all these ideas, but you always make us think so much with your stories. It's pure madness lol

This makes a lot of sense and this is extremely valid. I can't say a lot of things but I can share some stuff for now.

One of the reasons I wrote the epilogue from Kincaid's pov was exactly for this. We might not see his pov in part 5. So I didn't want yall to only see him through the main gang because yall immediately would go "oh ew he is the villain or he is victoria and kyle's spawn ugh" whatever. Because we are biased anyway. So. It was important that I introduced him first. And I'm glad yall support him <3

As for the others. It's very interesting. Because none of them ACTUALLY KNOW Kincaid is the Crimson King. The only people who know are the Lightwood Banes.

Lance doesn't hate Kincaid. He just doesn't like him (which is fair considering what he knows and what his parents did to his family)

Arthur obviously does not. Lol.

David doesn't hate Kincaid. No. We know David doesn't hate easily. Like he didn't even hate Mallory lol. But he is worried Kincaid would hurt his son.

Max actively hates Kincaid. I would he is the only hypocrite here. But i feel like his anger is justified when we get context. (there is a loooooovely scene where David and Arthur talk about why both their families are enemies and i cry thinking about it oof)

Everyone else, they don't hate Kincaid, they just "don't stan" for random reasons. Mostly because they don't actually know Kincaid. You actually see most people (who know him) be nice to him (Abigail, Theia)

But everyone who doesn't know him doesn't like him much. Alec and Magnus are weary of him because of his parents. Rafael and Anjali don't hate him. They are just sus. Lovehallow literally doesn't care about him (iconic as always) and Heronstairs are like meh about it.

As for the kids - Camila hates him because she thinks Kincaid is trying to date Theia and she doesn't like that lol. Iris just hates him because she loves David and she gets angry easily. And Joan just doesn't like him because he is better than her. Arjun and Atlas don't bother with drama lol. And none of these kids know Kincaid is the crimson king.

But lbaf v change will change this. people who like him might end up hating him. people who hate him end up liking him. so we'll have to wait and see.

Alec was coming back from the Clave meeting, Magnus wasn't home yet since he had to go for some other work. Alec saw Jace, who had burried his face into the couch and was fast asleep. No wonder, babysitting two kids would be exhausting for Jace. Uncle Jace and Uncle Simon were taking turns to babysit.

Alec smiled looking at his Parabatai who was hugging a pillow. He headed straight to the kids room, that was his routine, looking meeting the kids before doing anything else.

" Blueberry, Rafe? Dad's back! Hey-" he stopped midway looking at the hazy figure of a tall man with dark hair and blue eyes, who was bending over the kids who were fast asleep. "Who- who are you?" Alec looked at him, he had the same blue eyes dark hair. "Alexander Gideon Lightworm, lightwood I mean. Nice to meet you." The man had a dense English accent. He extended his hand, " I know your ancestors, rather I'm related to your parabatai who well, landed face first into your sofa." He said. " William Herondale, I- I don't know what to say." Alec said with complete disbelief.

"There's no need to. I'm here to see how my sister's descendant is doing, you've got her eyes and her hair too. A lightworm inheriting herondale beauty, who could've believed that till Cecy came into Gabriel's life. Oh, what would've he done without her. Anyways, I might be a bit late. But I'm here to tell you. You aren't anyone's shadow, you're a strong nephillim, an individual person. I appreciate your skills in archery, your accuracy and precision I don't even have words." Will said holding Alec's shoulder.

Alec looked down and smiled. "I really needed these words few years ago. Sir, I'm really glad to meet you. I've heard so much about you..from Magnus, read about you..and I- I can't believe I'm here talking to you." Will frowned, "Don't call me sir, I'm not that old! It makes me feel like a grumpy old man sitting in a chair by the fireplace telling bedtime story to his grandkids. Call me Will "

"Oh, I'm sorry, si- Will. B-but why me? Why did you come to meet me? I mean you could've talked to Jace...or Magnus, why choose me?" Alec asked. " Your subconscious mind still thinks low of yourself. You've been there for everyone and no one appreciated it enough. Let's start with your parabatai. He was always the one to be noticed first. But if it wasn't for you, this reckless impulsive boy would've ran into some deep trouble. You knocked sense into him, stood by his side in all times.

Your sister, I always wondered how she's so different from all the Lightwoods, but then again, she reminds me of Anna Lightwood. She's strong, again you've been there for her when Max..... Max, that child. I must tell you he misses you the most. He wished of growing up with you learning from his big brother. I know, I very well know that you still blame yourself for not being there when everything happened. But this is a message from him, don't blame yourself, it happened for a reason. He's still with you and he's really happy for you.

Then the mundane boy, who became a daylighter, wow that is complex. You didn't really like him in the beginning, but you do care for him. Now he's engaged to your sister. Give them my best wishes.

Then the red haired girl, you didn't approve her either, you see her as a sister now. She's reckless too, but that's her strength. You appreciate and support her. Then your kids, they’re amazing, look his skin matches my eyes! 

And then my dear Magnus, he’s been through a lot. He was there for me so many times. St. Magnus’s home for wayward shadowhunters is a concept from my times. I know the pain of loving someone who’s goin to live forever” Will looked down at his hands and smiled. “Tessa, my love and my parabatai, Jem. But don’t ever give up on eachother you two. I’ve never seen Magnus this happy with anyone, you were there for him too.” Will’s gaze shifted towards the crackling sound by the fireplace.

 “But what about it? I...I didn’t have any intention-” Alec said. “Yes, you didn’t you did it all selflessly, you did it for your loved ones. You used to think you won’t be able to ever enter the Silent city or be remembered with your comrades due to the Clave’s views. Everyone’s life has a curse, I had mine. But you had the power to strengthen your bonds. Remember, a nephilim who can love his comrades selflessly deserves to be appreciated, and that’s all I came here for. 

Alec’s eyes were filled with tears, all his thoughts from past stood in front of him, he had people to love now, people who loved him. “Church’s judgemental face and Bridget’s ballads are forever, and so are your stories Alec. Before I go There’s something I’d like to say,” Will touched Alec’s cheek and said.

“I’m really proud of you, Alexander Lightwood. May the angel bless you, and everyone around you.” A tear rolled down Alec’s cheek as the words echoed in the air and the man in front of him slowly disappeared like silver dust.

(Part 1) The family

This is for those 5 ppl who are interested in my modern mundane band au heronstairs unwritten fanfic (unfinished fancomic)

CUPID'S CHOKEHOLD:

1. Ella, Will and Cecily get kidnapped as kids, ella dies, will and cecily gets out, will has survivor's guilt and thinks its his fault so he runs away.

2.Will parents try to look for him but give up after a few months thinking he is prolly dead by now.

3. Edmund is a dead beat, linette's soul is drained as tine goes by, cecily starts doing odd jobs and illegal shit to get money to help run the family and pay off debts

4. Cecily gets involved in a underground parkour(?) illegal scene (idfk man injust want her to climb buildings running from the cops in one scene)

5. Will runs away to london, somehow, is adopted by charlotte's (charlie) parents when charlie is 15/16. Jessamine also is adopted at the same time, her parents die and charlotte's parents were distant family friends who took her in. And all the other family members let them bc moneyyy

6. Will and jessamine and charlie have a sibling bond.

7. Charlie and Henry start dating when they are 16 and 17.

They meet at a school function where the boy's school and the girls school are participating together.

Or at a party in the bathroom, in the bathtub, they sit there sharing earphones, the party becomes irrelevant as they stare at the moon in the dark bathroom with "temporary high" by AURORA plays in their ear

8. Both are introverted nerds and quickly become friends. Henry plays drums bc i said so. Charlotte is in the debate and in the volleyball team, nishinoya ass bitch

9. They sneak out one night and encounter sofie, face torn in half, bleeding like a faucet, she runs towards them across the street with a man chasing her, as she reaches them the man behind her gets hit by a car.

10.Charlotte takes her home...

11. 3rd adopted child boom!

12.Sophie doesn't want to take any help from them so the fairchilds basically tell her to be the babysitter for will and jessamine.

13. She agrees and takes the weekly salary.

14. As a means of self defence she picks up boxing. The fairchilds encourage this, she is enrolled in the same school as the other kids and practices in the gyms. She becomes a professional kickboxer.( and an illegal one underground)

When I signed up on tumblr, I never really thought I would get to meet and know so many amazing people. You have been there for me when I hit my lowest point this year and cheered me up. I've been thinking about parabatai (like I always do) and I just realized that in a way jace and alec and calry and simon are kind of the opposite of every other pair and that is why they are kind of overlooked

Every other pair has this underlying romance to them(and with Emma and Julian is completely romance)

While the tmi parabatai are completely platonic and feel like sibling love which is REALLY ironic considering that Alec had a crush on Jace and Simon had a crush on clary

But after the crushes were cleared out it just evolved into their friendships being simply true platonic love

While the others still have that romantic feeling to them and as much as we like to lie to ourselves society does deem romantic love more important than platonic

I mean just the seer amount of people who say that jem and Will are the real parabatai ONLY BECAUSE they seem to be in love in some scenes proves it even tho Cassie has said multiple times that they are the exception qnd jace and Alec are more the realistic view of parabatai BECAUSE they are truly platonic (after all parabatai aren't supposed to be romantically in love but people really like to forget that)

Btw I'm not saying that one parabatai pair is better than the other I love them all this is just a thought I had

Well, we all know Will and Jem's parabatai love transcends the typical parabatai relationship. I don't find it romantic, but "platonic" doesn't seem to cover their relationship either. I usually use the Greek agape to describe that powerful, earth-shattering love between heronstairs.

The one hole in your theory as to why people don't like Jace and Alec and Clary and Simon that much relates to Matthew and James. I think people like Matthew and James way more than Clary and Simon or Jace and Alec, but Matthew and James are not a romantic pairing. Heck they're even less romantic than Jace and Alec, given that Alec still had a crush on Jace for a few years as a kid. We don't have even that with Matthew and James, but Matthew and James are better received, I think.

I'm not completely sure, but I think the reason we like Jace and Alec and Clary and Simon a little less is cus a lot of people, not all, but a lot, associate TMI with being the Generic Series in TSC. At least, it's like that for me. I don't think their relationships are lesser by any means, but I'm overall less into that gang than the TDA and Historical gangs.

While we are on parabatai i feel like people don’t realize that Jem/Will is not the norm. As the majority of people I adore them but people ALWAYS compare them to the others and it’s not fair. Cassie has said multiple times that THEY are the unusual ones. Still some people adopt them as the norm and shit on the others especially Jace/Alec without really thinking about WHY it’s so different. And I know this discussion has been had multiple times here but sometimes I just really don’t get people who just ignore facts. Sure have an opinion but don’t go shouting it as the gospel truth when it’s not

Like they're so cute? Will doesn't care what you say about him but if you say anything about Jem (even if its just about him being sick) he will attack you without thought

Like if Gabriel is being mean to him hes like haha whatever loser but as soon as he's like why would you pick a parabatai who is dying Will's like POST UP

And Jem is so sweet and the side of reason between the two. Like they even each other out and I love it so much.

Theyre so protective of each other but in such vastly different ways I love it so much they are so cute.

They only had five years together but they both named their kids after the other like GAH they are always in my brain that's not even an exaggeration

I just can't and also the fact that Jem threw his medicine into the fire and Will STUCK HIS HAND IN THE FIRE TO GET IT OUT BECAUSE JEM YOU DUMB BITCH YOU NEED THAT TO LIVE
