THIS IS SOMETHING I TALKED TO MY FRIEND ABPIT OMCE AND I THOUGHT ITD BE FUNNY TO POST
slam dunk boys on tiktok
Mitsui
Tumblr media
Mitsui would lowkey be the mf that posts cringy dancing videos/trends to make himself go viral. BUT IT WOULDNT WORK 😂😂😂😂
And he’d be annoyed asl about that. I feel like he’d be the type to chase clout on social media and he’d be FIENDING for those likes and followers.
I FEEL LIKE HE’D BE A LIL THIRSTY ON TIKTOK — like he wouldn’t be up in girls’ tiktok comments but he would def like and repost any girl he thinks is pretty. AND IF HE WAS FEELING BRAVE, he would find and add the girl’s IG.
His for you page would be a mix of pretty girls, NBA basketball player edits, and like sped up music. He’d be making edits of his own basketball highlights with capcut and posting them 😂
He’d spam videos to Ryota and Sakuragi, especially basketball edits.
Miyagi
Tumblr media
Ngl he’d be the only one on the team to fr have clout 😂😂😂
He would post both thirst traps AND photos/videos of ayako. He’d love to post her to the cute TikTok trends (like this). Ayako would jus like the post and not say ANYTHING
One thing about Miyagi is that he dresses GOOD, and he’s gonna show that off! He’d post outfit of the day videos and he’d gatekeep tf out of his clothes. Like he’d straight up ignore any comments asking him where he got his clothes from 💀
He seems like the type to not respond to ANY TikToks he’s sent. Like Sakuragi would SPAM videos and Ryota isnt even opening any of them
If Ayako sends him things on TikTok tho.. OPENED IN LESS THAN A SECOND. He’d have his notifications turned on too so whenever she posts, he is all up in her comments. He’d reply to any other guy in her comments talking some “She’s mine lil bro”
Rukawa
Tumblr media
I don’t think Rukawa would be very into social media, but if there’s one social that he has, it’d be TikTok
He’d probably have a completely empty acc with like no pfp, 6 followers, and no posts. He would NOT care about being famous on there, although if he even jus posted a video of himself, he’d instantly go viral.
His fyp would be cats, music recommendations, english lessons, and basketball. That boy has NO interest in anything else on there. And he thinks that the other guys’ videos are corny, especially if he saw Ryota’s thirst traps 💀.
But if he EVERRR made a guest appearance on the guys’ videos, he would instantly blow up. Like all the comments would be asking him who he is, what his @ is, and why he’s so mf fine. He’d make his acc private after that 😂
I like to think that his fan girls would try to find his TikTok and stalk his reposts to see what kind of guy Rukawa is, and what he likes
Sawakita
Tumblr media
HE’D DEF BE FAMOUS ON TIKTOK, maybe even more followers than Miyagi.
I think he’d initially blow up bc him and his teammates would do the dance trends for fun during practice, but all the girls would comment things like “That guy in the middle is so fine 😍” or “He’s the only fine one 😭😭”. AND HE’D BE USING IT AS A WAY TO DISS ON THEM, like “None of those girls even want you” 😂 (then he gets his ass whopped)
Ok I don’t think he’s the type to be thirsty but from time to time, he’d def like and repost a pretty girl on his fyp AND HIS FAN GIRLS WOULD NOTICE IT AND GO CRAZY.
He’d def post highlights from his games over famous tiktok sounds (LIKE THE “I done did the impossible” one) and he’d have girls from diff schools start showing up to his games after finding him off TikTok
I feel like he’d jus post on Tiktok for fun? Like he’d post a little bit of everything; basketball, him lipsyncing songs, dance videos with his friends, and even TikTok lives. He wouldn’t really care about being famous on TikTok so he’d jus post whatever makes him feel good yk?
I like to think that he follows the Shohoku boys (even Rukawa somehow) and from time to time, he comments on their posts with “🔥🔥🔥”

I've been working on this piece on and off for several months. I really wanted to draw the second years again, but was just struggling to get them to feel natural. I haven't done line work and simple shading in quite a while, but I think it turned out alright! I like the playful feel it has compared to some of the other personal stuff I've been doing for my portfolio.
Anyway, incase you didn't get the update, I added some new prints to my shop!! And am now offering 4x6" and 8.5x11" sizes! Check it out if you are interested! Links down below <3

who: @bourgeoning ; Hisashi & Suzume
“Suzume SŌ-sama” he said, bowing his head slightly as he used the suffix (hating the reverence it implied). “I wanted to introduce myself. Comte Hisashi Du Pont, from France.”
“This has truly been a confusing few days, trying to make sense of it all had had made me more aware of the others here. One upside I suppose.” He said with a smile. “My mother was from Japan, I have heard much about your country.”
He had no intention of telling the truth. Admitting his past in Japan would only be a hinderance in achieving his goals.

Notes for A Matter of Duty - Chapter 11 - Protector from afar
I'm back and fully caught up with 4.0! Help, I've got Neuvillette brain rot, and I'm going feral over every crumb of additional House of the Hearth content.
Thanks again to the fantastic PancakeBeast for beta reading! Also thanks to the Hidden Akasha Records Genshin fanworks Discord for helping with all my weird questions, listening to my rambles, and hosting writing sprints.
Notes and references:
I'm using actual NPCs whenever I can. Reina made a brief appearance at a festival event once in game and had one line, but still! She exists! A lot of OCs in this fic are original characters because they won't be around (dead/out of Inazuma/etc) by the time the game starts, or there's not an extant NPC who fits the role. A couple unnamed side characters in earlier chapters are also NPCs in game (e.g. the guy from the bathhouse last chapter - any guesses?). It's a little tricky because the story is set 9 years before the game, so I have to remember that all the NPCs in game would have been 9 years younger, and that rules out a lot of options.
Drought does actually increase the complexity of flavor with tea, supposedly because the tea grows more slowly with less water, and thus has a chance to develop more flavor.
In the early Edo period (and into the late Edo period in some cases), if you were a performer for the masses (as opposed to for the nobles as with noh theater), you were understood to also be available for sex to the right buyer. Kabuki actor = sex worker. Dancer = sex worker (and early Kabuki was also more dance than acting). Even some shrine maidens doing performance = sex worker (maiden as in unmarried, not maiden as in chaste).
I'm taking some Genshin-style liberties and blending a bit of early Edo period kabuki (where everyone played the opposite gender and kabuki was inherently queer) with some later-period kabuki (when it got a little more formalized and more acting-focused, and also male-actor-only for a variety of crappy reasons). The Inazuma kabuki is not purely sex worker advertisement (which was something of the case in early kabuki: dances and prostitute-purchasing skits to show off the options and actors), it has some actual acting and scripted plays rather than just disconnected dancing and skits. But it's mostly sex worker advertisement, and it hasn't become gender segregated to the same degree, especially since the Raiden Shogunate doesn't emphasize class separation to the same degree as the Tokugawa Shogunate that it's based on.
The clapping at the end of the performance is tejime, a kind of ceremonial rhythmic hand-clapping to conclude special events.
Shrines and temples had their own playhouses, called Miyaji-shibai. They were under the jurisdiction of superintendents of the temples and shrines (e.g. Yae Miko and maybe the Yashiro Commission) rather than the other categories of playhouses, which were under the jurisdiction of city magistrates (Kanjou Commission and possibly Yashiro Commission depending on how one wants to define it).
Here's a fun Twitter thread overview of Kabuki and prostitution.
There were almost certainly more inns at Inazuma City than are portrayed in game. It's 9 years before the game started, the inn and theater could have burnt down or shut down for any number of reasons before the Traveler arrived.
I used Ayato to walk the path from the edge of Hanamizaka where I've set the kabuki theater, down the road to the river ford to Chinju Forest, and all the way up to the Kamisato Estate. It took 12 in-game hours. Then I jogged him back down it, which took closer to 2.5 in-game hours. If you add in the jog to Tenshukaku, it takes 5 hours total. So I have decided the Kamisatos have horses, because otherwise Ayato has a commute of anywhere from 5 to 12 hours. A horse probably brings it down to 3, minimum. (Needless to say, I now understand why Ayato's gone from the estate for days or weeks at a time. I would sleep in town too if I had a 3+ hour commute.)
This one's a thorough but highly readable overview of the history of Kabuki theatre with a focus on prostitution and gender/sex roles: Birk, Sara K., "Sex, androgyny, prostitution and the development of onnagata roles in Kabuki theatre" (2006). Graduate Student Theses, Dissertations, & Professional Papers. 3537.
Super useful and had information I couldn't find in the various online resources I was reading: Nakane, C., Totman, C., & Masakatsu, G. (1997). Kabuki and its social background. In Tokugawa Japan: The Social and economic antecedents of modern Japan (pp. 192–292). essay, Univ. of Tokyo Press.
This one's fabulous; it's a translation of a text from 1687. The introduction is fascinating context, the first half of the stories are all samurai m/m love stories, and the second half are all kabuki theater m/m love stories which was super helpful for getting context (such as the average cost of a night with a kabuki actor-prostitute). (Also, content warning for age gaps and references to sex with minors, a norm of the time.) Ihara, Saikaku, and Paul Gordon Schalow. The Great Mirror of Male Love. Stanford University Press, 1990.
This book details specific plays, and provides cultural context and history for each of them. Really useful read when trying to figure out what Inazuman kabuki might look like. Crandall, David, and Kesako Matsui. Kabuki, a Mirror of Japan: Ten Plays That Offer a Glimpse into Evolving Sensibilities. Japan Publishing Industry Foundation for Culture, 2019.
Life of the courtesans in Japan's floating world: An interesting read, if somewhat pearl-clutching in tone at times.
Summary of the fic itself with content warnings, tags, etc so you can decide if you want to read it or not before you click on the link.
A Matter of Duty https://archiveofourown.org/works/47604337?view_full_work=true
A year after the death of Ayato and Ayaka's parents, the clan succession is contested from within and without. Kamisato Ayato will do anything—anything—to ensure the safety of his family and the stability of his clan.
But powerful supporters come at an unimaginable price. When Ayato's own sacrifices aren't enough, he is forced to involve Thoma in a web of intrigue and exploitation that will push them to the breaking points of their bodies, their minds, and their very hearts.
or: Kushiel's Dart meets Genshin Impact in a quick-scorch-to-slow-burn romantic drama of court intrigue, sexual politics, and sacrifice.
Note: Mind the tags. More specific content warnings will be given at the beginning of each chapter, and the story tags will be updated as needed. All characters in sex scenes are adults.
Rating: Explicit. It's porn with plot. Porn as a vehicle for plot, or plot as a vehicle for porn, you can interpret it either way. (I prefer: porn and plot as a vehicle for ~feels~)
Tags that I'm not actually turning into tags here, but it gives you an idea of what you're in for: Kamisato Ayato/Thoma (Genshin Impact), dubious consent but not between Ayato and Thoma, slow burn, sex ed, first time, self-sacrifice, humiliation, exhibitionism, oral sex, anal sex, bdsm, bad bdsm etiquette, rough sex, breath play, impact play, bondage, service kink, abuse, sadism, codependency, shame, guilt, jealousy, possessiveness, trauma, ptsd, dissociation, political sex work, or sex work for political maneuvering, or political survival sex work if that’s a thing, exploitation, blackmail, political machinations, political intrigue, no aftercare, maybe someday some aftercare, hurt/comfort, mostly hurt for a long time but eventually comfort, oblivious disaster gays, for such socially savvy people they are terrible at personal relationships, dominant Ayato, submissive Thoma, top Ayato, bottom Thoma, Ayato is incredibly parentified, Thoma has no sense of self-preservation, self-sacrifice isn't a contest but don't tell Ayato and Thoma that, it's like the snipe-the-check game at restaurants but with sex and politics, Kushiel's Impact, no really this was in my drafts for the longest time as Kusheline Thomato Fic, everyone's an adult in this timeline except Ayaka, she gets protected at all costs, original characters out of necessity, finding appropriate existing Inazuma npcs for some of these roles was impossible
Full fic: https://archiveofourown.org/works/47604337?view_full_work=true
Chapter 11 - Protector from afar: Ayato navigates a web of family intrigue. Thoma follows Yae Miko's clues into the kabuki theater to find a mentor.
Chapter contains: Family politics, guilt/shame attempts, discussion of sex work, implied sex work.

the reputation of hisashi mitsui
Tumblr media
A major theme that isn’t explicitly stated (yet very prevalent) in Slam Dunk is reputation and pressure, which is explored through the Shohoku team as a whole, but also through two of Shohoku’s starting five. I had already touched upon how the topic of image and reputation was explored through Sakuragi’s character and development, but I believe that it's a very important theme for Mitsui’s character as well.
Unlike Sakuragi (who had very little expectations or pressure from others), Mitsui is a boy whose reputation precedes him. He was nicknamed as ‘MVP’ by practically everyone (something that bugged him) after he had led his team to winning nationals in his third year of middle school. This nickname follows him around, even in his third year of highschool. I believe this shows how Mitsui was expected to always excel and do well in basketball, by practically everyone around him. He was a kid that had lots of potential even from a young age, but his talent in basketball also became something that screwed him over.
In Slam Dunk, it’s shown Mitsui isn’t very academically gifted, initially failing many of the subjects in his exam. After Akagi and Kogure left the team to focus on school, Mitsui still sticks with the team despite having college entrance exams. I think that suggests that Mitsui only really excelled at basketball, and this might have led to more pressure (from himself, and also the people around him). After all, if he didn’t have basketball, then what would be left? This extra pressure to excel likely added to how strenuous his knee injury was for him mentally, and also part of why he was so impatient about waiting to recover. And when he couldn’t make it in time for the preliminaries and the basketball team couldn’t make it far, I think he was really disappointed (and also felt excluded).
At this point, Mitsui’s reputation shifted. A change in appearance was used to depict this shift aesthetically, as he looked more intimidating and rough compared to his middle school years. He changed his mentality too, and his view of basketball became more of a hate towards it. He had also become more known as a thug than a basketball player. I think part of this was denial, but also because he was scared of going back; after all, he had an injury and I feel like he didn’t want to disappoint again. He had put a lot of pressure on himself to excel and carry Shohoku to victory, and I think he gave up on that goal.
When Mitsui came back to the team and played in the preliminaries, he was recognized by others as the former MVP. Again, unlike Sakuragi, he was expected to excel and do well, and he wasn’t underestimated. But at the same time, some players had also written him off as a guy who had already hit his peak. And to an extent this is true; Mitsui’s accolades and accomplishments were at their best in his middle school years. Mitsui understood this too, and it led to him losing confidence in himself, especially as a player. As he played in more and more games and was matched up against players that were practically the opposite type of player as him (something I will touch upon in another essay LMAO), he was being referred to by both coaches and players as streaky, and against Ryonan, he had ran out of stamina and collapsed. He showed his regret for his time off, and he blames himself for wasting so much time.
Mitsui’s current abilities were practically in the shadow of how dominant he had been before, but towards the end of the series he overcame his reputation.
Against Sannoh, Mitsui wasn’t underestimated at all, as they had known his former accolades and abilities. But he was guarded tightly, and it led to Mitsui quickly losing stamina. In this match he acknowledged that he had already reached his limit, and he even said that all he had were threes. But instead of giving up, he persisted and sank his threes.
I also want to mention how Mitsui referred to himself by saying “I’m Mitsui, someone who doesn’t know when to give up”. The point of Akagi being asked “What are you?” by Uozumi was so he’d stop comparing himself to someone else, but I think this question for Mitsui was needed to make him stop comparing himself to his past self. At this point, I believe Mitsui realized that he was a different person and player from around that time, and that he shouldn’t chase after his former accomplishments/abilities. In Mitsui’s statement, he doesn’t refer to how good he is or was or call himself an MVP, but simply Mitsui — a guy with a lot of persistence and determination for a sport that he loves. I think this moment signified how Mitsui rose above the shadow that was his past image and reputation and finally became “Mitsui” instead of “MVP Mitsui”.
I also want to add that Sakuragi and Mitsui respectively carrying their team in morale and points (Mitsui scored 25 points in the game, the second highest scorer overall after Sawakita’s 26) against Sannoh was needed for their character development. Sakuragi had gone from someone who didn’t have much going for him much expected of him, to an integral part of Shohoku that was relied on to change the momentum of the game. And Mitsui had changed from someone that had been thought of as a “has been” that had already reached his peak, to a guy that persevered and fulfilled his promise of carrying his team to victory.

who: @thenxghtwemxt ; Hisashi & Midori
where: the Japanese quarters
Hisashi had parked himself in the hallway near Midori’s rooms. It had not been hard to find out where they were. A few of the staff had been relieved to find another from Japan who did not speak like a noble, had gossiped with him as if he was one of their own.
“To think,” Hisashi said when he saw Midori emerge, attempting to maintain his nonchalant pose. “Your Emperor was lording it over me for so long. Looking down on us all, and he was secretly funding one of my neighbors all along. He is as sly and untrustworthy as I.”
