fanfictions tags/saying I need to exist
Me and my friends use these when talking about Fanfics, and it always makes me so sad when people don’t know what I’m talking about so here ya go:
-Eddy-fying a character (The name is because of Eddie from Stranger Things, where a bunch of children or Twitter addicts take a character, remove true or personality, and then babygirl over them for a couple of months before, then when they give the character a bad reputation, decide to leave the fandom and ruin a different character. Minority characters that are Eddified are usually whitewashed, made straight, get rlly p¡ssy when people headcannon them as Neurodivergent, etc.)
-One-Month Fandoms (Name meaning is because the fandom just lasts a month or two before dying off again/Fandoms that re-emerge ((or are created)) for about a couple of months before being given a bad reputation and abandoned again. Examples include Stranger Things and Wednesday.)
-Anatomically Accurate (Basically fanfictions that have either heavy gore and guts n’ stuff)
-FBI Watchlist (fanfictions that made the author’s search history sketchy enough to “theoretically put them onto an FBI Watchlist”)
-Writing Lore (art lore but for Fanfic writers)
-Hyperfixiation Crossovers (Crossovers that don’t make sense, but they’re the authors interests so they want to see their interests combined so they don’t need to pick between which one of their interests they’ll write a fanfic about. It’s called HYPERfixiations just bc I like writing them and I’m neurodivergent and half of these crossovers are just neurodivergent chaos so I figured that hyperfixiation fit the best)

You know? If you think about it, slang and memes are probably different across the multiverse.
Have you see it how adults complain not understanding what teens said these days? Well now is the entire Spider-Society because despite the (probably) great population of teens the vastness of the multiverse makes for jokes and memes to transfer.
Pavitr literally needs to not only translate memes, he basically needs to do an entire background explanation to almost anyone. Perhaps with other spiders he defaults to jokes about "Fuck England" because people being angry at England seems to appear to be a very common thing across the multiverse.
Because the closeness on time periods, Peni and Margo constantly sent each other memes in "4D" technology. Miles saw one and stared at the wall for 20 minutes trying to understand what the hell he just saw.
Hobbie uses cockney slang which already means he will probably need to explain himself a lot, but if is true that he is from 70s (I don't remember if this was someone's hc or a theory) a lot of his jokes are mostly local to his area already because there is no internet, probably less if his universe is anything close to the dystopian hellscapse it is in the comics.
Noir would deadass, need multiple lingo dictionaries because being from the 40s definitely means he needs A LOT of explanations to most of anything.
Miles was a bit disappointed when he tried to show a meme to Gwen and she didn't get it, but after realizing how he barely understand memes from his other spidey friends, he felt a lot better to realize in general the sense of humour between their universes is pretty similar.
Technically Peter counts on that front as well, but he insists he doesn't understand teenage these days and lets these two to it; mostly just to let the lovebirds alone.
Miles and Gwen argue their universes are the only ones where the sense of humour is not broken and have the "Good memes alliance" which everybody else calls "they are having non-dates that they call association meetings because they are impossible."
These entire debacle started with someone saying "YEEEET" "Bro that meme is like 2 years ago" "2? Try 6" "The fuck are you talking about? That was part of my media class on memes" "DUDE YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO SAY 'YEEEZ'" And the rest is history.

I’m British, and I’ve read a lot of fanfics set in Britain where the writer probably isn’t totally familiar with the slang, so here’s a handy guide to how to make your Brits sound more British (thank you to the internet and an online dictionary for giving me a few more ideas and making sure I properly defined one or two words that I’m so used to hearing that I forgot the true meaning):
Store - Shop/Shops
Mall - Shopping Centre
Mom - Mum
Guy - Bloke (in some circumstances, not all the time)
Friend - Mate (again not all the time)
Tired - Knackered
Thrilled/Excited - Chuffed
Concerning - Dodgy
Disappointed - Gutted
Trash - Rubbish
Silly - Daft/Bonkers
French Fry - Chip/Chips (we do still have French fries though)
Potato Chips - Crisp/Crisps
Attractive/Hot - Fit (example use “Oh, he’s well fit!”)
Thanks - Cheers (of course we still say thanks and thank you)
Toilet - Loo (slang term, we mostly say toilet but an example use is “I’ll just pop to the loo”)
Go - Pop
Sausage and Mash Potato - Bangers and Mash
Amazed - Gobsmacked
Dollar - Pound/Quid (Quid is more of a slang term to be honest, like you’ll say “I saw Bob, he gave me back the twenty quid I lent him last week”)
Bottom/Ass - Arse
Very - Bloody (this is a mild swear word, for context)
Disparaging Adjective Usually Regarding Women - Slag and Chav
Testicles - Bollocks
Affectionate Nickname For A Friend - Love (“You alright, love?”)
Mess - Shambles

Headcanons for Noah dating a woman that has Spanish as her mother tongue (whether she's from LATAM or Spain, I tried to keep it vague enough that either fits) because I need to daydream.
He's trying to learn some Spanish because he knows you miss it and you like to hear it, especially during lovemaking.
You swear a lot. When you're angry, when you're happy, when you hurt yourself... he's trying to learn the nuances of each case.
Your accent gets thicker when you're angry, but he thinks it's sexy. He gets a very confused boner when you direct your anger at him.
"Que me des como a cajón que no cierra, te digo!" "What?" "Ok, what's the equivalent... bang me like a screen door in a hurricane!" "Oh. With pleasure"
Watching TV from your homecountry together. He finds it really funny watching more or less the same cartoons as he did, but in Spanish. "They all sound so weird!"
He asks you about the meaning of random words in Spanish. You tell them that's not from your country, that's slang from this other Spanish speaking country. "So you don't know what that means?" "Yes, I know, but if I don't, that's what I have the Panhispanic Dictionary for" "The what?" "El Diccionario Panhispánico de Dudas, amor. That fat book over there? You can access it on the internet too"
Him researching about your country's culture and trying to cook traditional dishes.
If someone makes fun of your accent or treats you like you're dumb because of it, he's so ready to throw hands! "Do you know how smart she's in Spanish??" and "Her English is not perfect because she speaks two languages, you only speak one and you can't even get it right, asshole"
"Mi amorrrr"

Kaixo !
Would you know words in euskara to refer to LGBT people ? I'm learning the language since only one of my parents speaks it and I only had a child vocabulary, and I don't really know where I would find slangs or if basque LGBT history is totally similaire to the one of Spain and France. The dictionaries I looked at only give the formal words and I was wondering if there was others (I don't dare to ask my father so I come at you, ô stranger on the internet).
Have a wonderful day !
Kaixo!!!
Here's a little word list found online:
Words to say lesbian:
Neskazale: girls enthusiast Aluzale, motxinzale, potxorzale: vulva enthusiast Motxinjale, pikujale, txirlajale: pussy eater Lesbiana hutsa: A lesbian who has never had sexual relations with a man. Bargasta: It has been used to designate shameless women, although it does not exclusively refer to lesbianism.
Bekatorosa: it means "sinners" and it's used in Iparralde. It was used as a queer response to the exclusion promoted by the hegemonic Catholic religion.
Bilitisen alabak: it means "the daughters of Bilitis". Lesbians were also called "the sisters of Bilitis". In 1894 Pierre Louÿs published a fake collection of Greek poems called The Songs of Bilitis where Bilitis is a Sappho's student and that is the reason why Bilitis and his daughters are rightly associated with lesbians.
Joxe-Joxepa: it means John-Jean taken from the dialect of the valley of Deba.
Kuku: it means cuckoo. It is used in the area of Oarsoaldea. "Cuckoo parties" were held in the past, the term may be related to the Kuku Herri district of Azkoitia.
Lamia: character of Basque mythology. A name that gays, lesbians and transsexuals use to call themselves in good humor or jokingly.
Lesbiama: from lesbiana + ama (mom), a word game for a lesbian who is a mother.
Emakoi, emaztekoi, andrakoi, neskakoi and verb neskakoitu: they can be used to mean to have a crush on girls, to slip into lesbian attitudes and actions.
Piper-opila: it means pepper cake. A word proposed by the Basque lesbians of EHGAM in Donostia to name themselves about twenty years ago.
Sorgin: meaning witch. It has been used in both good and bad ways.
Soropila: proposed as an alternative to 'bollera'. Formed by sorority + opila (cake).
Tortillera and bollera: literally, omelette maker and buns maker. They're common Spanish loanwords for lesbians in many areas of the Southern Basque Country.
Ulertua, kapaza: The understanding one, the one who understands. Codified statement to indicate that someone is gay or lesbian.
For butch:
Emarkia, marimutila, tunkurruna: tomboy
Hartzeme: it means female bear. It describes a masculine lesbian as an alternative to the English word butch. Other words are mariaker (mary male) and mari-motrailu.
Lumaontzi, lumadun, lumatzar, lumatza: the feathered one. A lesbian with a masculine look.
For femme:
Emaztetto, ematto, maripinpirin, marinexka, mariguapa
Words to say gay:
maritxu, garbiñe: they mean little Mary and Claire, used for femenine gay men. It was a slur but now it's been reclaimed.
tximeleta, marikoi: butterfly, fag*ot. Homophobic slurs, more and more reappropiated among the gay community.
atzelari: top
erregina: queen. A proud gay.
hartz: bear Vocabulary related to sexuality:
Andraketa: from woman + suffix of action. Sex or sexual activity between lesbians.
Andramin: from woman + pain. Strong sexual desire for women. Lesbian sex passion.
Neskatan or mutiletan egin: sort of "to do among the girls" or "to do among the boys". Flirt with girls / boys (same sex flirting).
Opila, opiltxo bat egin: Cake / Make a little cake. Two lesbians have sex.
Bilbon ibili: literally, to walk in Bilbo. To have sex.
[x, x]
Regarding LGBTI history in Euskadi, it's been linked to the one in Spain: heavily prosecuted during the dictatorship and after it - late 70s - the movement started to rally and ask for rights and legal protection. Some highlights:
1978: Basque congressman Francisco Letamendia Belzunce “Ortzi” defends for the first time ever LGBTI rights in Madrid.
1983: Legalization of the first Basque LGBTI association and decriminalisation of sex reasignment surgeries.
1994: First registration of a common-law partner in Gasteiz.
2003: Right to adoption to same-sex couples achieved in Euskadi.
2004: First edition of the International Gay-Lesbo-Trans Film Festival Zinegoak in Bilbo.
2009: Unity of Gender created at the Gurutzeta hospital (Bizkaia), formed by a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, endocrine system specialists, and plastic surgeons.
2010: The Basque Parliament passes a law proposal supporting the end of the consideration of transexuality as a mental illness.
Sorry for the loooong post!! Eskerrik asko for reading!

Shimo: Excuse me, my King?
Godzilla: Yeah, what's up?
Shimo: Have you- any clue what the term 'rizz' means?
Rodan snickers in the background whilst Vivienne is trying very hard to maintain a straight face. Godzilla sighs.
Godzilla: Madison again? I told her to quit messing with you.
Shimo: Oh- no- well- I confess I may have accidentally eavesdropped on a conversation between her and Joshua. I don't think she realized I was there... A-anyways, they referred to you- actually- under the term 'Rizzilla'?
Vivienne and Rodan cannot hold it in any longer and both burst out into full on belly laughter. Godzilla looks confused now.
Godzilla: Ok... now this is new. I've never heard that one before.
Vivienne: Oh fuck- that's great- yeah it is new. Internet memes; those things come up every other week.
Rodan: Fuckin Rizzilla, that's fantastic. God, I'm never letting that one go.
Godzilla: Uhh- is this... meme- referring to any specific incident?
Vivienne: Uhhh- probably not- maybe people just think you're hot?
Shimo: It's- not a derogatory term, is it? It wouldn't be good if people begin referring to you in a disrespectful light.
Godzilla: No. It's not disrespectful. Plus I wouldn't even really care if it was.
Rodan: It just means he's... got The Sauce.
Shimo: ...
Shimo: -what sauce?
Rodan: The sauce, meaning he's fly as fuck.
Shimo: He doesn't even have wings--
Rodan: And he's fly like... uh... Viv, you got any more slang the kids say these days?
Vivienne: Rodey, I don't even know what "no cap" means.
Shimo: *confused noises*
Vivienne, doing a google: Alright, to answer the main question: "rizz" is apparently taken from "charisma".
Shimo: ...Ohhhh! Oh, that makes sense!
Rodan: Unless you're French, then it just means "rice".
Shimo: ...then, d-does His Majesty have such rizz that... one wishes to, uh, eat him... like riz?
Rodan: More like the rizz so strong that totties will be on him like white on rice.
Shimo: Totties? D-do you mean tater tots?!
Rodan: No, it's British slang! At least that's what Urban Dictionary tells me. It rhymes with hotties!
Vivienne, deadpan: I'm British and I've never said that in my life.
Rodan: Then how do you say someone's hot in British?!
Vivienne: We say "well fit!"
Shimo: *looking at everyone* That also makes sense. Everyone here is well fit! Wait, then Dr. Graham also has rizz! And Her Radiance, Mothra has rizz! We're ALL fit with rizz!
Goji: That... sounds about right?

What does the meme part in kink meme mean on ao3? I don’t watch a lot of YouTube so I tend to miss new slang until it’s too late to ask.
--
Ahahahahahahahahahahaha
'Meme' is really, really old, dude.
We started with the coining of the word you'll find in the dictionary: a unit of cultural information, such as a cultural practice or idea, that is transmitted verbally or by repeated action from one mind to another
That idea of it being a unit of... culture stuff... was reused for the broad internet meaning of 'meme', which is viral gifs, images people reuse with different text, and the like.
Fandom evolved some specific uses of 'meme' for Journal comments-based repetitive activities. Kink memes are where people post top level comments with (usually kinky) fic requests and other people come along and write a fic in reply.
Fanlore has various articles:
