I just wanted to speculate for fun. Don't mind me.
So...The Indigo Disk. No release date yet. Probably for the better- SV does not work well with water and considering it's set on an ocean...this would be a good time to reign in the performance issues so Switchs don't fucking vaporize from the strain.
Now I've been eagerly awaiting news on the release date myself ever since I completed the Teal Mask. But it's a pain waiting for something without a finishline to work towards. So I figured I may as well speculate to sate my brain for a while.
Now believe it or not, Pokemon has tried to have a pattern to the Tera Raid events. Usually following a pattern of 7 Star Raid followed by a minor Raid. Sometimes two major Raids happen at the same time (Walking Wake/Iron Leaves and the Inteleon/Chesnaught raids for example) but they usually do one major Raid raid every week or breaking for a week before resuming. Assuming that the Hisuian Starters are following the second, the last Starter's raid would end on December 18th. Now considering that would be only 3 days away from the Winter Solstice and the Teal Mask was released only ten days for the Fall Solstice, that could be around the time that the DLC comes out. Makes sense from a business standpoint too- Christmas and all.
There is another idea that can be taken in though-
The Hiusian starters, if done consecutively, would end around the 13th of November. And the one year anniversary of SV is November 18th. This could be used as a lead into a celebration of SV's one year anniversary by releasing the Indigo Disk as a celebration. Probably unlikely.
In fact, it might not be the beginning of Winter we get it but around the middle. SS's DLC, the Isle of Armor, released on June 17th and Crown Tundra released on October 23rd. That's a little over 4 months. Assuming the same for the Indigo Disk, that would mean it would release in January. Maybe not the best time to release the last wave of DLC given how dead January is for businesses but it could be that it needs that much time to be properly preped. Especially if they intend on fixing some of teh performance issues.
So those are my dates- November 13-20th, December 18th-25th and mid January, maybe 17th -24th.
Hope you enjoyed this stupid rambling.

Halloween Costumes & Clothing products
Purchase Halloween costumes before the mid-October Halloween preparation rush. If you still have nothing to wear to the creepy November party, go Halloween costume shopping. This way, you won't have to deal with any last-minute issues for the spooky gala.
Choose your outfit:
Make the most of your party experience by purchasing Halloween costumes that are appropriate for you. To begin, there is a wide range of costumes available, including fantasy costumes (princess and prince costumes, fairy costumes, and angel costumes), horrifying costumes (witch costumes, vampire costumes, and werewolf costumes), superhero costumes (Superman costumes, Batman costumes, and Catwoman costumes), and so on. Just make sure you can pull off the outfit with confidence, and the rest will fall into place.
Examine the budget:
Individuals' ability to shop for Halloween costumes should not be limited by financial constraints. Instead, one should fill the gap in one's budget with creativity. In fact, there are costumes available for less than $25, making them affordable for those on a tight budget. Garage sales may also have costumes available. Discount promotional offers are also available in some boutiques. Furthermore, it is the attitude to carry out the character that makes the difference, not the expensive clothes.
Create a costume canvas:
Before purchasing Halloween costumes, go to costume shops and boutiques to see if the desired costume is available. If at all possible, try to fit the costumes that best suit your fashion sense. If you don't have time to go mall hopping, visit virtual stores online for a more convenient costume canvas. Along the way, look for clothing details such as fabric, style, and overall quality. This is especially true in online stores where items are only visible. This step is especially important for those with sensitive skin that requires careful attention. Then, after carefully inspecting the items, compare them to the price label. This assists in determining whether the prices correspond to the product quality.
Choose the best deal:
Make a mental note of the appealing items from the canvass. You are now in a position to select the best product from the products surveyed. Comparison must be done on multiple levels, which can be facilitated by first identifying the best costume in each shop and then comparing the best item in each shop against the others. This way, a systematic approach to purchasing Halloween costumes can be maintained. And, as a result, only the best of the best will be worn at the Halloween event, making it ideal for the best Halloween costume shopper.
Make your purchase:
The best time to buy Halloween costumes is after all of your other efforts have been exhausted. After selecting the best items from the canvass, the process should be completed by making the long-awaited purchase. To save money, keep track of regular promotional offers in stores. Who knows, maybe there'll be a sale at that boutique soon? Furthermore, according to the law of supply and demand, prices rise when there is a high demand but a limited supply. As a result, to make a wise purchase, it is best to shop earlier, before the peak season arrives.
This buying guide will undoubtedly come in handy as you shop for Halloween costumes.

Timeline Issues /w Supergirl
Today’s topic: Lena's age
Tumblr media
I am aware, this topic isn’t new, but it bothers me and to my knowledge it’s been a while since it’s been looked into thoroughly - and it’s the s06 mid-season hiatus, so plenty of time to look at things closely... So, let’s dig right in:
"According to the official CW website, Lena is between 25 and 32 years old since her first appearance."
[Source: Wikipedia, which links to a source from November 2018, but there's no mention of Lena's age in that source o.O]
...I am not sure what to make of the lack of source / credit / quote here, so what else do we have?
According to arrow.fandom.com Lena Kieran Luthor is born on October 24, 1993 [Source: Supergirl: The Secret Files of Kara Danvers, a companion book for Supergirl written by Warner Bros. Television, dubbed The Ultimate Guide to the Hit TV Show;  page of reference. ]. This much better credited source ties in with her graduating from MIT before 2012, when at the age of 19 she met and befriended Jack Spheer. And taking over LuthorCorp after Lex got convicted - at the sweet age of 23 - in 2016, and meeting Kara. She was young, but it’s a family business, she’s really smart (has 2 doctorates) and rich and her last name is Luthor, so board-members may have fought her every step, but really had to at least give her a chance, I guess.
And for some episodes and flashbacks those dates internally made sense (outside Katie McGrath being a whole 10 years older than her character ...presumably... Katie keeps her personal info very, well, personal) - and for many others it was / is inconsequential.
In episode 2x12 - set early 2017 - the title card for the flashback of Lena being brought into the Luthor mansion says "20 years ago" and we know Lena was 4 years old when her mother vanished into that lake (a theory for another day) and Lionel Luthor 'adopted' her. Which again puts Lena at being born in 1993.
But then, there's episode 5x06 (set in 2019), which features a flashback with the title card "15 years ago" and shows a teenage Lena and Andrea meeting at Mount Helena Boarding School and go (illegally) drinking. Which would set the flashback in 2004/05, and Lena being 11/12 years old - and in NO WAY would pass for drinking age and sneak into a bar with Andrea!
(Young Lena's actress, Lucy Loken, is born in 1999, making her 20 -!- at the time of filming of that episode. If the actress' age was any indication, Lena would have been 32 in 2016 at her first appearance in the show - which already exceeds the only other not-really-a source for her age.)
Yet, the rest seems to fit her vintage of 1993 again...
A 21 year old Lena, who has been working with Jack in their garage to cure cancer, while advocating at LuthorCorp, gets fired by Lex (who taunts her to go work at Jack's family business, Spheer Industries).
She takes a little time off instead, to grab Andrea and go on their treasure hunt in the Costa Rican jungle.
Their search for the Acratan medallion is set as "five years ago" according to the title card from 5x06 (set in 2020) putting the event somewhere late 2014 / early 2015, just before the series' very pilot.
A short while after that, Lena and Jack start a romantic relationship (3 years after meeting him, putting her at about 22 years old).
In 2016 (four years before the events of 5x06) Lex kidnaps Lena, ties her to a chair and brags about how he turned the sun red.
Lex is taken in by the police / gives himself up (?)
Jack comes running in, comforts a shaken Lena, he invites her to London
In London Lena meets Andrea again, who wears the medallion...
A few months later, Lex is convicted to 32 consecutive life-sentences and sent to Striker's Island
Lena (23) sees Supergirl on TV and ends things with Jack in Metropolis
Lena moves to National City, takes over LuthorCorp and gets interviewed by Kara (and Clark)...
So... yeah. Most mentions of times and dates are vague, at best. Sources are hard to find. Assumptions are easily made.
Could Lena indeed be older than stated in the only tangible source that I could? Sure. That would mean instead of just assuming Lena meeting Andrea was timestamped wrongly, several other mentions of dates and time-frames were wrong / off by some years, but it could work.
What else does that mean? Kara's born in 1966, was 13 in 1979 when Krypton exploded and her pod got stuck in the Phantom Zone. Not one, but two decades later - in 2003 her pod landed on Earth, she's still 13 years old... (putting her year of birth in fake documents at 1990) And in 2015, in the pilot, Kara's 25. Kara is 2-3 years older than Lena.
...or 49 years old and 26-27 years older than Lena, if you add the PZ-years .-.
Then again, now we have to deal with a completely new past and changed series / circumstances of past events thanks to Crisis (since 5x09)...
...
I am not trying to shame the writers on doing anything wrong, the show mislabeling things or the creative heads of not knowing their own timeline. I could have missed something or may take the wrong source(s) or shown references to be valid! I - a crazy fan who looks at all the given details - am just trying to make sense of the given facts and the implied timeline.
Is all that really important on the bigger scale of things? No. It really isn't. But, for anyone who wants to write fanfics and keep their facts straight, wants to remain somewhat in-canon and make certain points plot-points, or just get their references right, this IS a point worth looking into.
So, I hope that helped some of you or helped to re-evaluate some things. Or that some of you can add to this and / or correct any mistakes or faulty assumptions I made, so I can figure this inconsistency out and rest more easily.
Kue out.

AA7 Speculation Post: 2021 Edition
So I did one of these back in August, claiming that it was likely we’d get an AA7 announcement sometime in September for the Tokyo Game Show. Obviously it was wrong. So I am doing ANOTHER ONE, because I apparently like publicly being proven wrong?
This will be shorter than the last one because I exhausted most of my material on the first one, and also there’s less material. There is, however, SOME new stuff we’ve learned since August. ... And I was going to make a post in November but completely forgot, so consider this a starting point for the year. I’ll be covering the leaks, in general terms, and theorizing when we will be getting announcements/releases.
The rest will be under the cut so as not to burden everyone with my ramblings.
The Capcom Leaks
First things first, a disclaimer: this information was leaked through a hack which was highly illegal and compromised the personal information of many former and current Capcom employees, and therefore, I do not condone the methods through which this information was obtained and will not provide any guidance as to how to obtain this information, nor have I sought it out myself. However, I will still talk about then in general terms, because the information is out there already, and the information I am discussing will not compromise any personal information.
In summary: early this November, the hacker group Ragnar Locker managed to hack into Capcom’s databases somehow and retrieved 1 TB of information from the company; this includes a bit of information on ace attorney, which was leaked in mid-November after the group demanded a ransom and, presumably, Capcom didn’t pay up.
The two major ace attorney reveals that came from this are as follows: the announcement of a DGS/DGS2 port for the nintendo switch, steam, and ps4 with an English translation, and a calendar for the development and release of this port along with... ace attorney 7.
It’s highly likely that this information was real, given the level detail and the fact that Capcom confirmed some of their information was leaked, essentially confirming that AA7 either is or once was in development -- more news about this than we’ve had in a long time! But what does it mean and when can we expect it? Let’s take a closer look at the calendar.
The Calendar
Unfortunately, this little thing happened in between the creation of this calendar and it being leaked, called “a global pandemic” or something like that, so this calendar is almost certainly behind.
But what did it say? I lost track of the original, but I did find a roughly translated version someone made (from this post which summarizes some of the stuff in the leaks):
Tumblr media
So... what does this mean? First, let’s remember two things: one, this calendar was made pre-COVID and things were definitely pushed back. And two, the Japanese fiscal year starts April 1st, meaning that FY2021 starts in April. This means that as of writing this, we are technically in FY2020 Q4 - where, if we were on track, would be nearing the end of DGS1&2 port production and midway through AA7′s production. (We are almost definitely not on track.)
The pandemic started hitting Japan around April 2020, I believe, so that would be in FY2020 Q1. The DGS ports seem fairly unaffected, considering it’s later in production, and also, the DGS games are already complete, so most of the work would be on translating and adapting the games for modern consoles, rather than starting completely at scratch like AA7. AA7 is a little trickier: it was still in the prototype/pre-production stage, most likely, when the pandemic hit. I’m not tooootally sure what that means because I’m not a game developer, but it’s quite possible that this meant it took a serious hit. Given that there didn’t seem to be a lot of other AA7 data leaked, including in a large schedule of releases for Capcom later, there is the possibility that AA7 ended up being scrapped owing to the pandemic or other extenuating circumstances... but I don’t believe that’s likely, with the 20th anniversary coming up. We’ll see.
Another thing of note is that the name “AA7″ is temporary. Here in the English-speaking world that isn’t a big deal because all the AA games have random titles (like “Justice for All” and “Trials and Tribulations”...) but in Japan, they’re referred to simply with their numbers (GS2, GS3, etc. standing for Gyakuten Saiban 2, Gyakuten Saiban 3). The fact that “Gyakuten Saiban 7″ is a temporary name could possibly mean that what we are getting is not another mainline game.
However, again, there’s not really anything to support either of these things. I’m just bringing up random possibilities to cover my bases; but personally I think it’s likely that it is another mainline game, and that it is still in development. If we hear absolutely nothing about AA7 for all of 2021, though... then perhaps not.
Now... obviously, this calendar was pushed back. If we’re in 2020Q4 right now, then by the calendar DGS1&2 is hypothetically going to be released in about three-six months, and there has been absolutely no word on that so far. If this calendar were still being followed, we’d have AA7 on sale in Q3 of 2021 -- meaning October-December 2021, possibly in October for the 20th anniversary of the series, which would be super cool. ... but I doubt that will happen now.
So then, when are we getting the games?
I haven’t seen actual evidence of it, but rumour is that they’re pushing back DGS1&2 for a July release and an April announcement, giving three months between announcement - release. This is a shorter period than the most recent trilogy switch/ps4/pc/xbox release, which was announced in September 2018 and released February 2019 in Japan, a five month waiting period.
When we English-speaking players will get the duology is unknown, too -- the trilogy rereleases took a month and a half before they were released in English, despite already having been translated and the original released in Japan coming with an English language option. (No idea what was up with that!) The duology released in Japan reportedly will have an English option from the outset, though the English released version will not have the Japanese option because of copyright issues surrounding Sherlock Holmes -- sorry, I mean, Herlock Sholmes. Still, we should expect a few months following the Japanese release before we are able to play it ourselves. Same goes with the hypothetical AA7, which seems to typically be around three months following the Japanese release for an English release.
As for when we can expect AA7′s announcement... to the extent of my knowledge, the shortest announcement-release period for a game was Spirit of Justice, announced in September 2015 and released in Japan in June 2016, a period of nine months. Usually it takes longer. Assuming that there’s still that six-month gap between the DGS duology release and the AA7 release, we could hypothetically have AA7 in early 2022, pushed back a quarter, and if the announcement comes nine months ahead... it lines up pretty nicely with an April announcement. If we’re having a DGS announcement in April as rumoured, it would make sense to tie in the AA7 announcement to that as well.
How will they be announced? ... I’m not sure. TGS back in September would have been the most opportune time for an announcement, but I have the feeling that owing to our good friend the pandemic, they didn’t have enough to show for either the ports or AA7 back then and so opted not to show anything. If these games are for the Switch, they could be announced in a Nintendo Direct. Or they could be announced in a Famitsu magazine with trailers released later outside of any other event. Honestly I don’t really know for this part.
Overall, though? This is the upcoming 20th anniversary of the series. I’d be surprised if we ended up not getting anything. Despite the pandemic likely pushing everything back, I think it’s highly likely we’ll get some big ace attorney news soon, even if it’s not quite in time for the anniversary -- of course, the safety and health of the employees comes first, so a bit of a delay will be just fine.
TL;DR: I’m theorizing we’ll have DGS port/ AA7 announcements around this April, with DGS being released around July and AA7 being released late 2021/early 2022, with a few months delay for the English versions.

FULL MOON IN TAURUS 31 OCTOBER 2020
The spookiest night with a Full Moon to light up the hidden corners so that we can see the Uranus surprises even better!
The Full Moon will take place at 8°38’ Taurus (antisicion 21°22’ Leo) and will be in an almost exact (to the minute) conjunction with retrograde Uranus. It’s the second Full Moon in a calendar month (October) and as such is known as a “Blue” Moon.
The lunation chart is another of those heavy in Earth elements and Cardinal modes so we should be acting with our heads on our shoulders so to speak, moving forward with sense and practicality. It falls on the Taurus-Scorpio axis, 2-8 houses, our values vs the values we share with others, peace vs emotional storms, material comfort vs emotional drama etc
Moon in Taurus is exalted according to traditional astrology and is so closely meshed with Uranus, which also opposes the Sun in Scorpio, emotions will be running wild or perhaps too fast for slow, steady and sensuous Taurus and the Sun in Scorpio also needs time to process emotions since, being a fixed Water sign, it’s always in a maelstrom of emotions on its own. And none of the fixed signs appreciate the type of sudden change that Uranus might bring to the table.Or, putting in a more simple way; we could say that our gut feelings (Moon in Taurus) might get an unexpected jump start (Uranus) putting them in sync with what the Sun in wilfull and secret Scorpio might have in mind. (Best case scenario)
Venus, the dispositor of the Moon stands alone as a singleton in Libra, so, quite at home in its usual undecided and indefinite way looking over the rest of the chart wondering who it might be able to play with.Mars retrograde, ruler of the Sun in Scorpio is still within orb of a square to the “big” three in Capricorn (Jupiter, Pluto, Saturn), once direct in mid-November, it will perfect the square to these planets and I’ve a feeling that the effects produced won’t be pleasant…but more about that next month. Let’s get our heads around one thing at a time.In this lunation chart however Jupiter, planet of luck, hope and fortune is on the degree of the lunar nodes making it an important game player for this time of harvest (Full Moon). Jupiter in Capricorn is not in particularly good condition however and may fail to deliver or mishandle whatever promise it might be carrying. It is also quincunx the North Node indicating that if success or good luck is to be had it won’t be without a struggle.
Full Moons put the spotlight on the darker side of life, where we need to question our motivations and recognize if we are coming from a place of love for ourselves (Taurus) or suspicion and jealousy (Scorpio). It poses the question of what needs to be understood and transformed.
The Taurus-Scorpio axis with the Moon occurring in Taurus means that Scorpio is the dark side with all its trust issues and its penchant for drama and jealousy whilst Taurus indicates that awareness of love and comfort is the way out of Scorpio’s dilemma
Raven Kaldera in his book “Moon Phase Astrology” calls this Full Moon “the Earth Mother’s Moon”. According to him, it’s a time when we should take care of our body and the physical (not emotional) needs of others. We could ask ourselves on this Moon questions such as: “Am I eating healthily?”, “Do I need a medical check-up?”, “Am I sleeping enough?” “Do I feel good at skin-level with my clothes or does fashion prevail over my comfort?” “Am I getting enough hugs and regular body contact from my loved ones?” On this Moon we need to find the answers to the above questions and fix what is not working. Most interested in this lunation will be those with planets or angles at 6-10° Taurus or Scorpio and the antiscion point of 22° Leo in their birth chart. The Sabian symbol for 9° Taurus: “A fully decorated Christmas tree.” Indicating the ability to create inner happiness in dark hours. For the antiscion at 22° Leo: “A carrier pigeon fulfilling its mission.” Indicating spirituality, in terms of training for service to mankind.
“When it rains look for rainbows, when it’s dark look for stars.” Anon

Interview TALKING ‘BOUT MY GENERATION: WILL BUTLER
Talking to Will Butler is a bit like trying to have a conversation with a human magpie. Hugely enthusiastic and with a constant giggle on the go (“I have a nervous laugh, so I laugh at more things than I should…”), the 37-year-old has a tendency to veer off down strange tangents, taking your original point but then getting distracted or excited by some other new, shiny train of thought in a different direction.
You can tell he’s smart - not just booksmart, but the kind of smart where you can practically see the cogs turning at 100mph. “I love knowledge for its own sake,” he professes at one point. “I believe in it to a fault. I think it’s worth knowing all this shit, for no other reason than just knowing that it’s true.” And it’s this attitude that’s filled the three years since ‘Everything Now’ - he and his Arcade Fire bandmates’ society-skewering fifth LP.
In that time, amid world tours and festival headlines, Will has had two more children - twins - and went to Harvard to study a masters in public policy. He also found time to record ‘Generations’ - a second solo effort that takes the brilliantly all-over-the-place nature of 2015’s ‘Policy’ and hones it into something that’s more pointed, though still clearly fuelled by the same curious mind. Or as he puts it: “The first [album] it’s like, ‘I’m at the market! There’s some eggplants! Oh there’s a nice sausage guy! And OK cool I’ll get some of those and these!’ But then ‘Generations’ was much more like, ‘I’ve been storing these bones in my freezer for two years and now we’re gonna boil this down to make the pure essence of the beast’.”
Like most debuts from artists splintering off from their main projects, ‘Policy’ had been born from accumulating a collection of material that didn’t fit with his band. Unlike most, Will had just been nominated for an Oscar (for his soundtrack to Joaquin Phoenix film Her) before its release, “so that was a confidence boost,” he notes amiably. Conversely, the essence of ‘Generations’’ particular beast seems a far more targeted one - one intrinsically linked with the intense political conversations the musician had found himself wrangling with during his recent studies.
“I always want whatever I’m making to emerge out of what I’m living and for it to help me understand how I’m living better, so going to policy school was certainly part of that artistic project as well as the ‘what do we fucking do?’ project,” he explains. “I jokingly say that I was radicalised at Harvard, which is basically true. I was in a mid-career programme, so there were 25-year-old geniuses but also people in their middle age who’d worked in the UN in Pakistan or the government in Mexico. They had this whole perspective of how fucked everything is across the whole globe so it was… educational.
As such, his second brims with a sense of palpable unease for a society that’s not only crumbling before our eyes right now, but has been doing so intermittently for decades and centuries. The twinkling, finger-clicking patter of ‘Close My Eyes’ belies the all-too-timely despair beneath it (“The photograph is new / But I seen that same headline, and I got to dance to keep from crying”), Randy Newman-esque closer ‘Fine’ digs right back to “George Washington and all his slaves,” while ‘Not Gonna Die’, he explains, was written in direct response to the November 2015 Bataclan shootings.“All these things hit different people in different ways, but that was so close to home,” he says. “It was Christmas after that and I was shopping in Manhattan; I walked into Sephora and it was super crowded and I thought, there’s a lot of people in here, where would I go [if something like that happened]? And I got so mad. It fucking worked. You made me scared. I’m not gonna die in Sephora on 5th Avenue but you made me think about it, you fucking pieces of shit.“Mike Pence was writing about it before he was running for Vice President, like, ‘We need to make sure we don’t have any immigrants come in because the immigrants can do this to us here’. And it’s like, I’m not gonna be killed by a woman fleeing violence in Guatemala!! The terrorists and the people saying ‘Be afraid!’: what you’re doing is working, and I AM afraid, and fuck you.”
Perhaps most interestingly, however, ‘Generations’ doesn’t just point the finger outwards, it also poses questions of the singer’s own inherent part in it all. “A big chunk of this record is asking: What’s my place in American history? What’s my place in America’s present?” he explained in a previous statement about the album. “Both in general, but also extremely particularly: me as Will Butler, rich person, white person, Mormon, Yankee, parent, musician. What do I do? What can I do?”
“It’s basically like, ‘My God, how did we get here?’ - that Talking Heads line,” he continues now. “The record is at times literally a conversation with people arguing back and forth, and there’s a lot of questions raised and the answers aren’t answers - you just end the conversation in a different spot. There’s something to that process of discussing and coming to some sort of revelation only to find out what’s lacking there, and then you move onto the next conversation and find out what’s lacking there. I was pleased that the material felt cyclical and of a piece, and you feel like you’re in a different spot than you were at the beginning.”
Because yes, his latest might not provide all the answers - “This is a musical work and I don’t know what the end notes are,” he admits - but ‘Generations’ does emphasise the importance of asking the questions and having the conversations, both with the world and with yourself. And if you can have them over an album of musically explorative, rich and often perversely funny new offerings? All the better.
Next, he’ll return to the fold to begin work on Arcade Fire’s sixth opus. Writing for that had originally started in New Orleans before the pandemic hit, but the band “don’t have the file management down to really do it at a distance,” he chuckles. “Win and Régine are always demoing and working, and I’ve done a little. We always work on a record for about a year and a half and we’re not off that pace yet, we’re still weirdly on track…”
You can bet by the time that record lands, he’ll have chalked up a handful of other accomplishments to his name, too; lord only knows the political battleground of the coming weeks will give him enough food for thought. And in the inquisitive mind of Will Butler, thought and curiosity are clearly the most nourishing tools of all. “You can write a love song that’s super true, but can you write a history song that also is? And if it comes out right and there’s some value in it, then what does that mean?” he muses. “It’s about just trying different angles to express something true.”
‘Generations’ is out now via Merge.
Butler’s Bits
‘Generations’ is undoubtedly an album rooted in politics and society - this much we know. But it’s also a record that digs into the musician’s relationship with other parts of the human experience…
HUMOUR “It’s a coping mechanism and it’s also a worldview. There’s not exactly a cabaret scene in New York but the comedy here is quite musical and there’s a lot of comedians that interact with people in interesting ways. They’re a bit younger than me - I’m the oldest millennial - but there’s something in that spirit that feels relevant.”
RELIGION “I grew up Mormon and I’m still ethnically Mormon. It’s like The Smiths song, ‘Meet Me At The Cemetery Gates’ - ‘Keats and Yeats are on your side, and Wilde is on mine’, you lose, haha. I’m sure Yeats is such a fucking asshole but that’s my heritage. The classic lineage of the Western canon is how I grew up.”
ADULTHOOD “I have three kids now, and it doesn’t make me worry about the future so much as it’s made me learn so much about humanity watching them - watching how it all goes into the ‘this is what humans are’ mill. On ‘Policy’, the protagonists are a motley crew of rag-tag whatevers, whereas this is much more a coming of age novel - not like a teenager becoming an adult, but an adult becoming a worse adult…”
As featured in the October 2020 issue of DIY, out now.

May 2021- Queen of Wands
This month you may be surrounding yourself with a friendly individual who loves animals. This person may be you- or your mother or a mother figure or your romantic partner. Sometimes it just means you need to take on the traits of the Queen herself. Good or bad this may be a person who has a significant say in your current situation. I feel for some of you this may be a mother in law. This person will be more relevant in your life this month. The Queen is ambitious, she wants to climb the career ladder or do other great things. Usually this individual finds themselves playing the role of the leader for having the ability to take charge. This person takes pride in being a good friend and ally. They will consider how their decisions affect others before making any moves, making sure everyone involved is being treated fairly. Enjoy time in nature as much as you can this month. If possible, go to the zoo or take a nature hike. Keeping fit and taking care of your health will be important to you. There may be a demanding and domineering woman standing between you and what you want. Watch out for controlling and oppressive behavior. If you find yourself micromanaging everyone around you- check yourself. You may be dealing with someone born on the Pisces-Aries cusp (March 19-24th).
2. June 2021- Ten of Swords
Disaster may be coming to your doorstep this June. This is not a welcoming card, as it usually indicates destruction. I feel this has been brewing for weeks and it’s finally coming to a head with the Queen of Wands above. All may be lost here Gemini. Drama, conflict will reach their next stage or conclusion. Your relationship may end in the most terrible or cruel way. Something may happen that will strip you of your confidence. This card and abusive relationships can go hand in hand. Business, career and fiance many make a turn for the worst. Once the dust settles you can start anew, but I feel for this month you're still going to be in the thick of it. You may be in ill health. Take care of yourself from physical and emotional pain. At the very least I feel some type of betrayal is going to occur and you won’t be able to resolve the issue. This is your card Gemini, this is going to affect you directly.
3. July 2021- Seven of Wands
As we move into sweltering July, you're going to face the challenges from last month head on. You're ready to preserve and defend yourself. It could possibly result in a fight for you. The person who betrayed you last month is going to make a hassle for you, and it may become a severe problem in your life. You do not see eye to eye with this person, but I feel this is someone who you were once very close to. This person does not respect you or your way of doing things. For some of you, this could be a co-worker out to steal the spotlight from you in the office. Although this is frustrating, you have the long term advantage here. They covet what you have, but you earned it with your merit, talent and personality. Because of this, even if you have to fight, you will remain on top. You may be dealing with a Leo here.
4. August 2021- The High Priestess
All the conflict from last month has really helped you to trust your intuition. However this may be a time where you need to brace the unknown, Gemini. Your insights will be so spot on, it will almost feel like your psychic. You may have strong suspicions. You may suspect your partner is being unfaithful to you. It will be revealed to you. Something in your life isn’t quite right, and you’ll feel it Gem. A lover or a business partner may be keeping a secret from you. You will sense the dishonesty, even if you're not completely sure what it is. The secret will be revealed to you this month.
5. September 2021- Ten of Wands
You learned a harsh truth last month, and it’s leaving you physically shattered this September. The truth was revealed to you, but it left you wounded. Now you're facing many burdens. This is a card of hard work, and there is a lot of work left to be done for you Gemini. You’re going to have to put in a lot more effort than you have been previously. Now is the time to decide if you want to buckle down and complete the challenge or throw in the towel. This card isn’t telling you what to do, it’s only telling you that things are about to get more difficult. You will have a lot on your plate this month. You're most likely juggling work, family and other responsibilities. You go to bed at night thinking about all the work that is facing you the next day. You will be very overwhelmed. You're going to need to take care of yourself, especially since stress related illness is likely to crop up at this time. This card is often drawn for new parents who are spending sleepless nights and drained from responsibility. It could also mean you're working hard trying to get a business off the ground. You keep pushing and pushing but there’s no end in sight. If you keep grinding there is a cozy environment in your future. If you stay committed you will see the fruits of your labor. Keep pushing towards the life you want. You may be dealing with a Sagittarius.
6. October 2021- Five of Swords
As we move into Autumn, you will face defeat. You will lose something through a fault of your own or for some something may be stolen from you. Regardless you will experience misfortune in your conflicts. This is a theft card so make sure you have proper insurance, make sure you're careful with what you brag about within the home. An enemy is going to outsmart you. You may experience loss of reputation, position or your entire career altogether. This could come from friends instead of co-workers for some. A lover being stolen from you is also a possibility. It won’t be fair, but it won’t matter very much. You may be dealing with an Aquarius here.
7. November 2021- Five of Cups
After your fall from grace in the spooky month of October, you're facing setbacks in November. You're dealing with a lot of disappointment and negative thoughts. This will be a period of great sadness for you. Instead of feeling thankful this month, you will find yourself in a negative place. At this time you will be confused about what your next move should be, and possibly indulging in self-pity. This card often makes an appearance during a break-up or divorce. Although this is difficult now, there is someone out there who is better suited for you, Gemini. Your life is by no means over. If you're battling depression, get help. You don’t have to battle these feelings alone. You may experience this fall out over a strained friendship or family relationship. All is not lost, a second chance is within your grasp. However, you're going to have to try. You may be dealing with a Scorpio here.
8. December 2021- Ace of Wands
As we move into the holiday season, you're ready to start over and begin creating a new life for yourself. This month you’re creating something that will have an impact. This could be a life changing event like a new child or a new job- but for most it will probably just be a new hobby. You will be excited about new opportunities that present themselves. You may be starting a new relationship that is filled with spark and fire. If you find yourself pregnant- this card can indicate it will be a male child. This could be you or someone you're close to. Be mindful not to get so caught up in the excitement that once it isn’t fun anymore you stop putting in effort. You don’t want something promising to never get past the first stages because of this. However, I will say this is the first promising month I see for you. I feel like the holiday season will be when Gemini gets their groove back.
9. January 2022- Four of Cups
Coming into the new year, you may find the spark you had last month is now fizzling out. Perhaps reality stepped in or a new lover has decided to leave you this month. If this is the case for you, it’s likely they got bored of the relationship. If it isn’t, you will be the one feeling the boredom. You feel unhappy and discontent in your current circumstances this month. The excitement from December has fizzled out. You won’t be happy until you do something to change it. You may be procrastinating at work or your boredom could be leading you to an affair. You may feel like you're suffering from some sort of mid-life crisis (or something that closely resembles one) You covet what other people have, wishing your own life was better. You may be chasing something that just isn’t meant for you. Use your jealousy of others for good and work on the areas of your life you're upset about. Work hard and strike for the things you see others have that you want. Keep in mind, the grass may not be greener on the other side. Count your blessings and be grateful for what you have. You may be dealing with a Cancer this month.
10. February 2022- Six of Swords
You find yourself feeling apathetic this month. You're just not interested in the drama that’s been going on all year. You're ready to forgive and move on. This can result in moving towards or away from conflict- that’s up to you. This card is all about movement. You may be physically moving residence or leaving your hometown. You may be close to the water when you travel on a boat or make a plane trip. You're moving towards a certain goal or outcome. Keep the faith, you're making progress even if you don’t feel like it. Something could be progressing in a way you didn’t want to expect. Once you get what you want, you see the grass isn’t greener on the other side. I feel this could be you achieving a goal you set out last month and realizing it doesn’t really suit you. Keep your options open for now.
11. March 2022- The Magician
With the energy of moving on, you're setting your sights on your own talents, possibly sales. You will have a lot of willpower this month. A nice change for you as winter becomes spring. You’re setting goals and seeing them through. Nothing will stop you, Gemini! Taking action at this time will attract the opportunities you crave. Be careful, for some of you a con man may be coming into your life (or trying to come back into it). One thing is for sure, you will be starting something new. A new business, job or hobby is in store for you.
12. April 2022- Six of Wands
The talents you displayed last month will lead you with victory and new found popularity this month. Success is finally coming to you! You will receive recognition for your hard work. Soon you will be able to sit back and bask in the glow. It’s been a hard year, you deserve it. There is a possibility that you will be looked up to as an authority. You may become a sort of celebrity in your field or interest. Your social media following will likely increase at this time. You will also be rewarded financially. A well deserved ego boost may also be in order. For some this may mean your letting your stubbornness get in the way of your happiness. You can’t admit when you're wrong or deny that others may know more than you. This arrogance may turn people off. You may be dealing with a Leo at this time.
13. Theme of the Year- Page of Cups
This will be an emotional year for you, unfortunately a year of emotional immaturity. For the next 365 days you may be feeling sensitive and a bit soft. You desire love, care and affection- but you're going about getting it in all the wrong ways. This gentleness may be coming from a good place, but you appear overly sensitive and annoy others. You will come off childish, moody and downright silly. In other words, you need to act your age, Gemini. I feel you will spend much of this year day-dreaming. Be mindful not to lose time because you have your head in the clouds. A certain stage of your life is coming to a natural end so a new stage can begin. You will notice this especially in June and September. This will be a painful experience for you, but it’s all for the best. I feel this could mean the end of a relationship so a new one can begin. Big events will occur in August and March. In October and November you will feel as though you’ve been defeated. February and April a special relationship may begin to bloom. It will start off slow but could lead to something amazing.

an odyssey | afterword
Tumblr media
rating: T
pairing: Hwang Hyunjin/Han Jisung
summary: Somewhere in the galaxy of the Stella Primum, Lieutenant Han is the best fighter on his team, a real ace shooter, with five gold stars to show. Too bad Second Lieutenant Hwang is not only great at battling the Ordinem, he’s also got disgustingly perfect looks to match, and now Jisung’s stuck in the same spaceship with him for possibly the most impossible task of their lives. Or the one where a rivalry is brewed across the skies and stars, until Jisung realises what there is to flying beside Hyunjin on a mission to save the galaxy.
if you haven’t read it yet, read here.
this is an afterword to ‘an odyssey’, where i write about the origin of the story, the characters, and my struggles of writing :’)
(i) The Origin
I’ve had this work in my WIPs since, believe it or not, January of this year. I’ve had this idea for so, so long. I wrote it intermittently throughout this year, with a scene or two in September, then October.
Due to my exams, though, I couldn’t write as much as I wanted to. That’s why I only really started writing ‘an odyssey’ back in mid-November. The good thing was that I had more time to plan this out, because frankly, this is perhaps the heaviest fic I’ve written in terms of plot so far.
I can’t for the life of me remember where this story idea planted itself in my head. All I knew was that I like space AUs, I adore Hyunjin and Jisung’s friendship, and I love enemies to lovers. Realising there weren’t any fics out there that combined the three, I knew it was my time to shine. Or something.
(ii) The Plot
The plot was the trickiest to pull off. I’ve written an urban fantasy here and there, but I’m pretty sure if I reread them thoroughly, I’m bound to find a couple of plot holes.
There were a lot of elements to cover: the Prophecy. The five gems. The push-pull relationship between Jisung and Hyunjin. The journey to discovering the whereabouts of the last Gemma. The last boss fight with a Governor who could wield the Force. There was!!!! So!!!! Much!!!! Going!!!! On!!!!!
Perhaps if I reread ‘an odyssey’, I might find another plot hole or two; who knows? For now, though, I feel quite contented with this work of mine. Considering it’s my first time writing something as long as this (50K+ are you kidding me?), I feel this is a first step for me to continue expanding my horizons when it comes to writing, to continue to challenge myself to write something different, something bold. Something new.
(iii) The Characters
I rewatched the Two Kids Room and One Kid Room episodes so many times, over and over again. There’s a reason why this story is centred around Jisung and Hyunjin, and why it’s written from Jisung’s perspective.
Their relationship is, after all, something coherently interesting. They really said “enemies to friends but make it irl”. I guess I took that concept and sort of exaggerated the extent of their ‘hate’ for each other, which isn’t exactly hate to begin with. The further you read on, the more you’ll realise that they don’t exactly hate each other — they just got off on the wrong footing, and have never tried turning back to start over once more.
It’s written from Jisung’s perspective because personally, I wanted the story to be told from the eyes of someone who was prideful, who was eager and determined, and who wanted to show his worth to everyone else. I feel like perhaps I didn’t expand on characterising Jisung to the fullest advantage possible, though, which remains a slight regret of mine.
Another reason why I wanted this to be written from Jisung’s POV is because we can find out how Jisung feels about Hyunjin throughout the story. When he realises whose son Hyunjin is, he’s torn between wanting to pity Hyunjin and keeping things between them the same as they always have. (If I were in his position, though, I don’t know what I would have done lol.) It was hard to try and interpret his emotions, but there’s that.
Someone commented once asking if we’d ever get Hyunjin’s POV. Sadly, one of my biggest turn-offs is the switching of POVs in stories when it’s not entirely necessary haha. As much as I would want to know what Hyunjin is thinking when they’re arguing, or when they’re fighting, I like to keep on the suspension line. It gives you the feeling of immersing yourself as the Jisung in the story, of only seeing things from one perspective.
As for the other characters, there wasn’t enough time to expand on all of them (for example, I mentioned Seungmin several times throughout the story, but really, he speaks only once haha). And as your fellow StayDay, it was definitely fun for me to include a few members of Day6. (please don’t ask me why I thought of ‘PJ and Honey’ while writing. I was probably hungry.)
I don’t know if I’ll continue to expand on the characters in this same universe, but it would be fun to think of the other relationships, for example Chan and Felix, or Changbin with Minho and Seungmin. (someone please save the seungbinho tag!!!!!!)
As far as characterisation goes, I’ve still got so much to learn. For now, though, I hope you enjoyed the dynamics between the characters and how Jisung and Hyunjin learnt to grow within a span of six chapters.
(iv) The Writing Process
Granted, the writing bit was a little easier in the beginning, but as I delved myself deeper into the story, I found it harder and harder to express the emotions I wanted to deliver in the story. One of the hardest chapters for me to write by far was the last chapter. I wrote two versions of the last chapter, simply because I felt the first version was too lacklustre for the ending of such a long story haha.
I had a clear outline of my story, but I did end up extending it from the initial 5 chapters to 6. For the first time, though, I didn’t add any random elements to the story, unlike how i wrote this story last year haha. The lesson I’ve learnt is that I should ALWAYS have a brief outline of the plot — detailed enough to cover the entire story, but brief enough to give me some creative freedom mid-writing.
The excitement of writing honestly wore off near the last few chapters. I’ve realised the importance of reading unfinished works in this way. Writers really need some form of motivation to keep them writing their chaptered works. So if you’re one of the real ones who started reading this even before it was completed, kudos to you. I really appreciate it.
Overall, writing this was fun. Hopefully I don’t need to do this again though; I absolutely hate writing chaptered fics because of all the time and effort put into them. I’d much rather be a ‘One-Shot Hotshot’ lol.
(v) The End (?)
I left a bit of wondering for the readers in the last chapter. If Atkins was able to wield the Force despite the false pretence that there was no longer any Force-wielders left in the universe, how many more of them could there be?
That leaves an opening for me if I ever wish to return to this alternate universe sometime in the future. The Universe is ever-expanding, and so is our imagination.
(vi) The Inspiration
Obviously, I need to thank Star Wars. I also need to apologise because I absolutely butchered their universe. Fun fact: there was one huge plot hole I had to cover up halfway through writing.
If you’re observant, you might remember the scene where Hyunjin asks Jisung why they didn’t just jump into hyperspace to reach Ilsanis. That’s because I was watching an episode of The Mandalorian where the Mando was forced to fly a ship without a hyperdrive engine, and I almost freaked out right there in the middle of the living room realising how weird that would be if I left the issue unattended in my own work (yikes).
Long story short, I drew elements from the Star Wars universe and created a story of my own. I’ve been asked how I came up with the idea of the Prophecy. Frankly, I don’t know. My brain farts sometimes, I guess. Brain Farts = weird ideas that somehow make sense sometimes.
(vii) Lastly
If you have any more questions you’d like to ask (or plot holes to tell me about *shudders*), do leave me a question in my CC, or holler at me on Twitter (I’m hardly alive here on Tumblr haha). To anyone and everyone who has read ‘an odyssey’, I thank you.
This year has been a funky year, and even worse, it’s the year I had to take my IGCSEs. Writing has always been a way for me to create my own universe and release my tension and emotions, so not being able to write as much as I used to was a little tough.
Writing will continue to be a medium for me to express my emotions and my thoughts while creating stories of my own, so simply by giving my fics a read, you’ve already fuelled my reason to continue to write. Thank you for all the support in ‘an odyssey’!
(why did i write this entire monologue like i’m giving a speech at the Oscars or something lol im so dramatic :”))

What the Pandemic Christmas of 1918 Looked Like

What the Pandemic Christmas of 1918 Looked Like
Tumblr media
On December 21, 1918, the Ohio State Journal published a warning about the lingering flu pandemic from the state’s acting health commissioner: “Beware the mistletoe.” Not only should readers resist the temptation of a holiday kiss, but they shouldn’t even be at a social gathering where it might come up.
“You will show your love for dad and mother, brother, sister and the rest of ‘em best this year by sticking to your own home instead of paying annual Christmas visits, holding family reunions, and parties generally,” the commissioner said.
Christmas 1918 was not Christmas 2020. The pandemic had already peaked in the U.S. in the fall of 1918 as part of the disease’s second wave. Meanwhile, this week the deaths attributed to Covid-19 in the U.S. are the highest they’ve ever been, showing no signs of waning as the holiday approaches. But the flu also killed far more people (675,000) than Covid-19 has to date, in a country that was much smaller, population-wise, at the time. And it wasn’t over by any means. In some cities, a third wave was already starting as Christmas approached, says Kenneth C. Davis, author of More Deadly than War, a history of the pandemic and World War I aimed at young readers.
“There was an uptick, and it was a serious uptick in some,” he says.
A century ago, the federal government held much less authority and power than it does today; the CDC, for instance, wouldn’t get its start until 1946. Decisions about how seriously to take the disease fell to states and, especially, municipalities.
Davis says San Francisco took it quite seriously, implementing a strong mask mandate in the fall as well as measures that’d be described today as social distancing. After cases rose sharply in mid-October, the city locked down harshly; the measures worked to keep the flu at bay and, a month later, the city reopened and dropped the mask mandate. But the flu was not done with the city yet. Come Christmastime, Davis says, the cases were again on the rise, and residents, having finally escaped from the pandemic shutdown, were not eager to go back.
“San Francisco wanted to institute the mask rule again but people resisted,” he says.
Davis said some anti-maskers of the day felt their rights were infringed on. Some Christian Scientists cited religious objections. And other people simply found masks too much trouble. It didn’t help that masks at the time were generally homemade, using several layers of cheesecloth and were supposed to be boiled for ten minutes every day to keep them clean.
While it’s hard to tease out whether Christmas gatherings or shopping contributed, influenza case numbers did indeed rise again in San Francisco in early January.
Lendol Calder, a historian at Augustana College in Illinois and author of Financing the American Dream: A Cultural History of Consumer Credit, says it wasn’t just the debate over masks that seems familiar today. In some places, residents complained that officials shut down churches but left saloons open. The closing of churches was a major issue in Milwaukee, a city that took the pandemic especially seriously—and that was also home to deeply observant German and Norwegian immigrant communities.
“To have churches closed during the Advent-Christmas season was huge,” Calder says. “That was people’s social media, to go to church.”
But, Calder adds, even Milwaukee allowed churches to hold services on Christmas Day.
Of course, Christmas is also a shopping season, and that was already true in 1918. The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade wouldn’t start until 1924, and Black Friday mania was decades away, but retailers were beginning to realize that the holiday shopping season could make or break their year.
“They pushed hard in November and December with advertising to get people to come shop,” Calder says. He says retailers were concerned about potential supply chain issues and urged shoppers to come in early in case items ran out. They also made sure to let potential customers know that they could deliver goods to those who were afraid to go out in public.
Davis says store-owners’ desire for a strong Christmas season also figured in anti-mask sentiment.
“They don’t want people to wear masks in the stores because they thought it was frightening,” he says.
Despite the anti-maskers, Howard Markel, director of the Center for the History of Medicine at the University of Michigan Medical School, says the question of how to guard against the flu was not politicized in the way that anti-Covid measures are today.
“Most people did comply because they had greater faith in their public officials, and they had greater faith in the science of medicine, even though it was much more rudimentary than today,” he says.
Markel notes that epidemic disease was very familiar to the early 20th century public. Families, many of which had lost a child to diphtheria or watched a loved one suffer from polio, were generally willing to comply with some limitations on their activities. Most public health departments wore badges and had police powers, and this was generally uncontroversial.
“They could forcibly quarantine you or put you on a quarantine station on an island,” Markel says.
As municipalities determined what public activities should or shouldn’t be permitted, Calder says people were puzzling through their own choices about how to celebrate the holidays.
“When you’re reading people’s diaries, they are fatigued obviously but also measured,” he says. “You don’t find people freaking out about this. They mourn the loss of traditional ways of celebrating the holidays, and they want to see relatives and are wondering whether they can or not.”
Markel, who is also editor of the Influenza Encyclopedia, a digital archive of materials from the pandemic, says one advantage people of 1918 had in terms of making holiday plans is that family gatherings were generally not the treasured once- or twice-a-year events they are for many people now.
“Extended families often lived together or right near each other, next door or upstairs,” he says. “Getting together for a holiday meal was much less of an event than it is today, when many people don’t live in their hometown.”
At the same time, Americans longed to see each other during the holiday season of 1918 for a reasons beyond the Christmas spirit: Young men were returning from the battlefields of Europe and military bases following the official end of the First World War on November 11.
“Many people had the sense that they had just lived through one of the most historic years in history,” Calder says. “[The war was a] victory for democracy over authoritarianism. Just 11 months earlier, it hadn’t looked so good. It was just a huge shock and relief to see the Armistice signed.”
For the families of more than 100,000 men lost in the war, many dying from the flu, in the course of less than a year—and for those who had lost someone to the flu at home—it must have been a somber Christmas. But, for many others, the relief of the war’s end and the apparent decline of the pandemic encouraged many Americans to come together.
“The mood was absolutely euphoric for most of the country,” Davis says. “There’s a pent-up desire to get out—that existed back then as well. The mood of the country was, ‘We’ve come through something terrible. We have something to be thankful for.’”
To whatever extent that joy encouraged people to gather in public or hold Christmas parties at home, it certainly contributed to some of the infections and deaths in the third wave of the flu. In light of the current high rate of infections, that’s something worth taking seriously today. Much like Ohio’s health commissioner in 1918, Markel says we must go against the instincts that drive us to gather together in order to protect the people we love.
“It goes against everything we love to do to not celebrate the holiday season,” he says. “And we must nevertheless not do it. It makes me sad to say it.”

to anyone out there nervous about nanowrimo this year, this is my 4th time doing it (technically 4th - 3rd if you’re going by the actual site and not my own stats), and this is my thought process with each year:
2017: i’m scraping by to even so much as pay my electric bill because i’m living with someone who’s a complete mooch and wastes money like it’s nothing. i’ll eat anything. i don’t know if i can live here anymore. i don’t want to live here anymore - yeah, i was saying “i hate it here” well before anyone bitching about how bad this year is even so much as thought it. i don’t even know if i can do it? it’s for chris, though, i have to do it. i live in the middle of nowhere and i feel a nuclear missile pointed at my head. i need to tell the story of black rain, the song i heard in 2010 and it gave me hope for the future. fuck capitalism and fuck you for enforcing it. cry on black rain. (i wound up writing something like 110k words in that first draft because of that pressure 🔥)
2018: i’m alone in my room most of the time because while that person quit being an issue in december of last year, my mom works full time. i need a hug because i’ve been alone so long and i feel like no one appreciates me for my efforts, or anything really - i can’t just “exist”. i want my daddy. i wanna meet lars. i just want to kiss a boy so i’m telling the story of a girl who messes around with boys who turn into creatures. i’ll see if i can finish it before i visit my dad and if i don’t i’ll finish it there. i’m naming it after the fact that i do my best and most honest work not just under gun but later in the day and in the middle of the night, too. (i hit 50k on the 21st, the night before thanksgiving and while i was at my dad’s house no less! and that one ended up going to 140-odd thousand in mid-january 😎)
2019: i’m on a roll, bitches! i found literally the cutest boy who’s a complete clean slate which baffles me because he’s so hot and cute and sweet and humble and looks like me (his name is joey, by the way). he’s become my muse of sorts in the past few months alone. he’s in a band that does a song called “now it’s dark” which is one of the most erotic things i’ve ever heard in my life. they’re all into sci-fi and comics and so am i! this one’s for them and i’m naming this after that sexy song, too. lars, too, he’s gotta have his heroic moment at some point. (once again, 50k on the 21st and volume one went to... 97k, if i remember correctly? i had signed and sealed it on black friday, the day before november ended. but then i kept going to write two more volumes 🔥)
2020: i’m watching the world blow up outside my window. everyone’s experiencing the exact same dark shit i went through growing up, also my depressions in 2012, 2013, and also three years ago - everything down to the “fuck capitalism and fuck you for enforcing it” even. oh, yeah, remember that boy i was talking about? yeah... apparently he’s... kind of a fan of me now, hehehehe. i’ve also ascended to “bad girl” status to a degree: i do what i damn well please even if it makes me look dangerous and i’m not afraid to put a bitch in her (or his) place. this one is going to be like now it’s dark but with far more humor involved and the story’s radically different; they were scenes and snippets i wrote whilst writing now it’s dark to keep my sense of humor intact. part one’s already written; imma do part two for this year. it’s coming hot on the heels of an intense october for me: take your pick from betrayals left and right to people just being difficult to be around. everyone’s so acrimonious right now and i fucking hate it. i need a laugh (no offense to tiktok, but i need something that’ll last). i need a hug. i need a laugh and a hug. (i’ve got the words inside me. my notes at my side. finally a rouse of people around me. we shall see.😘)

To all my fellow LoVe shippers who are feeling down I have one thing to say.
Tumblr media
I can’t make the last 8 minute of season 4 disappear but I can recommend some really great LoVe fanfiction that will make you feel at least a little bit better. So without further ado here are a few of my favorite LoVe fics!
A Hard Habit to Break  by  mskatej   Nothing gets Veronica over her failed relationships better than Logan Echolls.
...And Long For You  by  AbsolutelyIris It was moments like those Veronica wished she could be like Lilly- storm into his house and curse and yell and damn him to hell before demanding he fuck her...and like with Lilly, he would gladly, if reluctantly, do so.
“Any Love Is Good Love, Baby”  by wily_one24   Apparently, Hollywood was wrong, the devil did not wear Prada, the devil wore butch black boots and tiny little skirts.
The Best (and Only) Kept Secret in Neptune  by  vixleonard Even when they hated each other, Logan and Veronica just couldn't stay away from each other.
The Burdened Vessel  by  vixleonard   Veronica needs a favor only Logan can help her with.
Every Belt That Ever Hit Someone (Is Still Made to Hold Something Up)  by igrockspock   Logan doesn't get any votes for Most Changed at the ten-year reunion, which is bullshit when you think about it.  In the past ten  years, everything in his life has changed.  He's joined the Navy, dated a pop star, and figured out that Dick Casablancas can occasionally behave like a real human being.  Only one thing hasn't changed: he's still in love with Veronica Mars.  Oh, and he's suspected of murdering his girlfriend.
"Fear and Loathing in Neptune"   by wily_one24 Veronica Mars was going to get herself laid. Series  Part 1 of Any Love
A Fine and Endless Cycle  by kartography A freshman year at Hearst and the cyclical nature of love
Fireworks by AliLamba Veronica is technically not a virgin, and awkward results ensue. An AU version of LoVe's first time.
For the Sake of a Friend by jacedesbff   What if Logan and Veronica were involved in a secret relationship throughout the events of Season 1?
The Game of Trust  by Kantayra of Yore (Kantayra)   This time Veronica really did trust him, and she knew how to prove it...
Getcha, Getcha, Getcha, Getcha  by  Kantayra of Yore (Kantayra) Veronica and Logan prank each other. Really, it's shameless the way they flirt...
Give Me The Ocean  by scandalpants   Post Season 3 AU.  Veronica decides what she really wants.  Spoiler: it's not Piz.
Home Is Where The Heart Is by: lv63   AU preseries and forward, begins in season 1. this story is all about veronica and her friends. angst, mystery, humor and romance, LoVe and MaDi. summary in prologue.
I Hate You Because by: SilverLining2k6   Mid 1X3 - Meet John Smith.    Logan, Veronica, a pool, snark, and a made up drinking game.
i knew you were trouble when you walked in  by youcallitwinter   And, it's just—  Logan had always been her intense high-school romance, sure. But she had, somewhere along the way, in some secret corner of her mind, convinced herself that was all he was; a high-school romance. Explosive, powerful, passionate, and bound to burn itself out eventually
(Im)Perfection  by  AbsolutelyIris The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.
In a World by: my shangri-la   A/U! Exploring the 'what ifs' that could have happened if Lilly Kane hadn't been murdered, and her secrets – and others – had come out anyway. Pairings: Lilly/Logan, past Duncan/Veronica, eventual Logan/Veronica. (Story begins with Lilly as a senior, the rest are juniors.)
In the kind of world where we belong  by  Anonymous  There was always something missing.  A Lilly Kane sized hole in both their hearts.  Instead of going to see Aaron Echolls on October 3rd Lilly decides to comfort a friend and their lives change forever.A very smutty OT3 take on what might have happened if Lilly had lived.
Kid Things  by sowell   5 years after graduation, Logan comes back to Neptune to ask Veronica for help.
King of Mars  by: HGRising   AU. In which everyone has a story to tell but not everyone gets the chance. And, things make more sense from a different perspective. Ever wonder why Veronica Mars was Lilly Kane's best friend? There's redemption for some and condemnation for others when the secrets come out. And everyone's got a good one.
Landmine  by  AbsolutelyIris It needed to be forgotten, and quick.
The Long Way Home  by  AbsolutelyIris   "We should take the long way home."
Matching Pink Bikinis  by  Anonymous Veronica and Lilly wear matching pink bikinis to Logan's for a pool day.  This is pure threesome smut, folks.
Pink Lemonade (Logan/Veronica/Lilly)  On a trip to Honolulu, Lilly manages to bring Veronica out of her pink, frosty shell. Spoilers/Warnings: This is a threesome fic and therefore includes some femslash.
Playing Hide and Seek With the Truth by: jenwin23   Continuation of the Truth series. The kids go back to school. Old issues remain while more secrets will be revealed, relationships will change and lives will crumble.
The Real Thing by: Josielynn   AU. Logan and Lilly are off again/on again. Duncan is dating Meg. Veronica was never friends with Lilly. Logan sees Veronica in her soccer uniform and wants to date her.
Scotch on the Rocks (A FanFic Tribute)  by kmd0107   A long time ago...there was an incredibly hot LoVeLy trilogy fic (Pink Lemonade & Sex on the Beach) started over on Live Journal that never got its third part.  This is a tribute to what that might have been.   Logan POV of the evolving sexual and emotional relationship between himself, Veronica, and Lilly.
Scourging Fire, Blazing Soul  by Nerdyesque   What if Veronica didn't grow up with the 09ers, but came into their lives prior to Lilly's death? How would her presence affect Duncan, Lilly, Logan, the Kanes, and the Echolls? Also, who is Veronica without Keith Mars' loving protection?
Sex on the Beach (Logan/Veronica/Lilly) NC-17 Lilly's chapter in my Drinks Series. Nobody wants to talk about what happened in Hawaii, and it's driving Lilly crazy. How could she possibly make what happened less awkward? By making it happen again, of course!
Some Truths Hurt by: jenwin23 Jumping off point: V gets Duncan's journal in Echolls' Family Xmas. AU from there but many canon events happen too. All characters in the VM-verse make an appearance, but it is a LoVe story. In script format-but give it a try, it's well written.
The Third Kane by: Mac-alicious   Lilly, Duncan and Veronica Kane rule the social scene in Neptune. The three are loyal and inseparable. They once believed there was nothing that could come between them. They didn't count on Logan Echolls.
Time, Make It Go Faster Or Just Rewind  by  kmd0107  Logan being ‘the real-Logan’ is so familiar that she almost can’t help but give in to it, even if it’s just a one night pass.   She’ll embrace this moment out of time and the walls and armor can go back up tomorrow.AU from 1x4 Wrath of Con
Truths Too Big to be Told  by: jenwin23 Sequel to Some Truths Hurt. It's summer time and more than the weather is hot. Neptune is embroiled in class warfare, Veronica is looking into the mystery of another dead girl, the fallout from Lilly's case continues, and more secrets will be revealed.
I’m also throwing in some of my favorite MaDi (Mac and Dick) fics because Dick needs a hug too.
The ABCs of Mac and Dick by: jenwin23   The ABC challenge with Mac and Dick. Created for Madi lover at VM Santa 2010 at livejournal. Cross-posted. In letter order, not in chronological order.
Bodycount by: BIFF1   Cassidy and Mac meet a little earlier and a little blood-lust gives him an entirely different problem when it comes to forming a real relationship with Mac. AU with MAJOR season two SPOILERS! Mac/Cass, Mac/Dick, Mac/Cass/Dick
Casablancas Kryptonite By: BIFF1   "You just don't get it. She's like kryptonite or something." Dick looked at his brother and thought about those blue eyes that cut and the way her mouth twisted around insults. Yeah maybe she was kyptonite. Casablancas kyptonite because isn't he just as weak.
Casual? By: BIFF1   It's just sex. Casual sex. no attachments, just good hot sex. But that was the summer and now school is about to start up again and Veronica's back from Virginia and can tell that something is up. They can stop, no problem...
The Charm Bracelet by: DalWriter   Future Fic. Who Knew Prince Charming Would be Dick Casablancas? Mac reminisces as she looks at a charm bracelet Dick gave her.
Commitment Buffers by: BIFF1   Dick and Mac live with Logan and Veronica in their attempt to have some sort of commitment buffer between them. Only problem with the arrangement is that Mac and Dick tolerate each other at best which is a big improvement as far as their concerned. However living in such close quarters may prove difficult when it becomes obvious that they may actually sort of like each other.
Dark Day by: BIFF1   It's Cassidy Casablancas' birthday and the two people closest to him are falling apart. She just wants to hide away from the world for the rest of the week, just drink and cry and be with someone who gets it and no one gets it more than Dick. Not as angsty as it sounds, promise. Now complete with happy ending!
Electrify by: BIFF1   A guilt trip from Logan has landed Dick in a crowded tent with Mac. With a lightening storm raging outside he can't sleep and it appears neither can she.
Rendezvous by: BIFF1   A collection of one-shots. In which Dick and Mac are forced together by fate or friends and hook up. Because I apparently really like writing them hooking up.
Secret Santa By: BIFF1   Saw this homemade sweater from hell prompt from VMficRec. It's a November challenge but I couldn't help myself. Just some fun when Mac pulls Dick's name for Secret Santa. She figures a six pack and porn until he makes a big deal about not wanting anything handmade. She can't really help herself, she spends the month knitting Dick a sweater.

Andi Mack 3x17 Review
Arts and Inhumanities was a mostly good ep that struggled at times and sheds some light on what was cut and what was re-shot. Let’s dig in!
Re-shoots:
Adding a new section for this review since this is the first ep where the re-shoots and cuts really had a noticeable impact. The last Muffy scene at the school was definitely a re-shoot and it looks like the pro player plot will be something brief and focused on Buffy herself rather than Muffy, maybe even just some sort of montage, though why they decided to add that in I do not know.
Originally for 3x17, Garren was only on set the Saturday they shot the bowling alley scenes which were quite brief and didn’t really have a defined ending. He was on set for two days for the cut farm wedding ep so we’ve definitely lost a minute or two of Muffy scenes even with their replacement scene in 3x17. Which is sad for them but does actually bring down Marty to 3 eps in 3c just like TJ and puts Muffy and Tyrus at close to equal screen time.
It’s clear that these eps are taking place fairly quickly after one another and that likely the farm wedding would have been the very next weekend in universe with Something to Talk A-Boot taking place the school week after the wedding. It also means that regardless of what Muffy scenes we got at the farm, it ended in the same place as 3x17 with Marty telling Buffy they’re better off as friends which would have come off as pretty contrived at the wedding where he was her plus one. And still does tbh, but it makes sense that he wouldn’t want to get himself turned down again and it sets up Buffy having to confess in the finale.
I also wonder if the Cyrus and Jonah and Amber scenes at the school were also re-shoots. Afaik it wasn’t snowing when they were originally filming 3x17 in November and it was snowing when they filmed the school scenes for the re-shoots. Josh was on set that morning but left early that same afternoon which would fit with his brief role in the Jamber breakup. It may also explain why his ‘counselling’ of Amber didn’t really amount to much and if Jamber broke up at the farm wedding it would explain why she was even there and why Amber asks Jonah for space in 3x18.
Ham filmed some scenes for what was either 3x16 or 3x17 and there’s no talk of the wedding in 3x17 or even any sign that Bex and Bowie had an emotional talk just a couple days ago in universe. Obviously the new wedding is at the gazebo in 3x19. No mention of Celia and it seems likely that she may not appear again until 3x19 which is a sad loss of screen time for Lauren Tom.
Josh said some key plot drivers would be moved into 3x17 and the Muffy friendzoning definitely was and the Jamber breakup may have been. It also fits with Josh’s public comments, a week before he went back for re-shoots he posted an ask and talked about an upcoming ep they filmed at a farm where they were in suits so clearly he thought the farm wedding was still happening. Then as the re-shoots were wrapping up he warns us that things have been shuffled and cut but that the story will still make sense which fits with him learning the farm wedding had been cut and that quick re-shoots were done for the most important plot events.
It does raise the question of how much filler there was at the wedding if two major plot points could be boiled down to 2ish minutes of screen time combined. Certainly the main reason the farm wedding was cut was because of a lot of Ham screen time and the expense of re-shooting it but if a lot of the scenes aside from the wedding ceremony itself weren’t all that important than it would explain why they felt able to cut it. Now on to the ep itself.
Positives:
Really liked the Mack family scenes tonight, you could really see the familial chemistry that the actors have and it was great seeing Bex and Bowie being so supportive of Andi.
SAVA looks like a place Andi would love. Obviously she gets in (or gets in to another art school elsewhere) and I wonder how she overcomes the entrance requirements.
Loved the dance moms line. And the girlfriend in Canada and blame Canada lines. Didn’t think I’d ever hear a Southpark reference in a Disney show.
Really nice to see the kids just being normal kids and going to see movies
Emily had another great performance, 3x16 and 3x17 have been the most Amber development we’ve ever gotten. We see her hanging with some other girls and going to see a movie and learn that she’s really good at chess.
Jonah’s a mess but I always enjoy seeing him be dumb.
Pleasantly surprised that they didn’t make Cyrus good at chess and very glad that he didn’t actually get to play therapist because therapist! Cyrus is boring and rarely gives good advice.
Liked the callbacks to Cyrus wheezing and losing his shoes in the last Cyrus and Jonah scene. And Cyrus actually apologized! Glad he learned his lesson from when he betrayed Buffy back in S2.
Muffy scenes were good if brief. We really saw why they work when Marty insisted that Buffy needs to see a doctor, neither Cyrus nor Andi have the confidence to call her out when she’s wrong.
Not surprised that they made Rachel unlikable, it’s really the only way to excuse Marty’s emotional cheating. She didn’t even get his jokes!
Buffy’s ‘’why not?’’ was very revealing and Marty really isn’t doing a good job pretending to not like Buffy anymore.
Negatives:
It’s nice to get Amber development but not this late and not like this. There’s just no stakes to this plot because no one cares about Jamber and the show hasn’t given us any reasons to. Sometimes it seems like they went with Jamber just because they needed to keep Jonah as someone’s love interest while avoiding getting him back with Andi.
Wild that Amber was in 7 out of 25 aired eps in S2 and will be in 10 out of 20 aired eps in S3. There really was no need to have her be in so many eps.
Jonah’s character has taken a real beating. He comes off as untrustworthy, immature, flighty, and unreliable. It’s one thing to tear a character down but when is he going to be built back up?
Real missed opportunity not to circle back to Jonah and Amber’s financial issues, or Jonah’s anxiety, or Amber’s home life in any capacity when all those issues play into how their relationship has gone.
I know it was a gag but I didn’t like Amber having a set up chess board already there under the table.
We’ve seen eps before in S1 and S2 where Andi is off doing her own thing and the other kids are left to their own devices but I’ve never been a fan of those kinds of eps. It makes it feel like the other main kids exist on a separate show.
Looking Ahead:
Jonah scaring Andi is a callback to 2x14 and looks like Andi closing the laptop leads to her accidentally submitting her application to SAVA.
No clue if the bit in 3x17 about Amber wanting Jonah to write her a song is supposed to remind us of Jonah’s singing and set up You Girl but that’s coming up soon.
Buffy is on crutches and is going to coach from the bleachers which explains why they only filmed game scenes for part of one day.
Nice to see Kaitlin back and looks like we see her at the game and at school.
I know a lot of people think Kira shows up at the game to save the day but I don’t think we see her again until the finale. For one we have several days of TJ scenes and she’s not in them so clearly something has changed on his end. And Raquel was never shy about promoting her time on the show and she always made sure to post from set for eps 7, 13, 15, and 20. If she is in 3x18 then it would mean she deliberately didn’t post from set that week and updated her imdb but left that one ep out which is a level of deception and secrecy we’ve never seen from any of the recurring actors and really doesn’t seem to fit with her personality.
Not shocking that Tyrus isn’t in the promo, they don’t usually show the B plots in the next on promo, that was typically saved for the extended promos Disney used to air. They also didn’t show any of the Amber and Jonah C plot either.
I think next week will be a great ep and I’m looking forward to seeing what that Tyrus moment in the gym is, be it hand holding or a hug or something else.
This was the last ep to not be directed by either Paul Hoen or Michelle Manning. Something to Talk A-Boot was the last ep to feature the school or the spoon (before the re-shoots at least).
The timeline actually makes sense! 3x13 was around the end of October as costume day was a Halloween stand in and now it’s mid to late November with the SAVA application due at the end of November and the finale taking place not later than mid December in universe most likely.
And one last thing, because of the Fourth of July holiday in the USA the ratings for 3x17 won’t be out until Tuesday afternoon at the earliest rather than the usual Monday release date

6. Story with the most:
Kudos: two loves have i (275)
Bookmarks: two loves have i (34)
Comments: two loves have i (25)
9. Work I’m most proud of (and why):
on our way to twenty-seven! i was digging into some identity and sexuality issues that i myself have dealt with in the past and writing about it was the first time i’d really dove into some of that stuff, so i really enjoyed writing it and i think it’s some of my best.
i’m also really proud of i’m taking back the crown and i wish i could say why. i just really like the way it came out. writing oikawa as this desperate dethroned prince trying to reclaim his kingdom at any cost only to be beaten at his own game in his own home was just...ugh. it was so much fun to write.
10. Work I’m least proud of (and why):
one more time as if we planned it, definitely. i just felt super rushed writing it. it was for the one direction rarepair fest, which was super fun, but i had Just finished a longer fic a few days before this one was due and i initially tried to drop out because i thought i wouldn’t be able to finish it, but i did, but i still feel like it’s rushed and just not as good as it could have been if i’d planned better and given it some more time.
11. A favorite excerpt of your writing:
im gonna do what i did last year and post more than one, because 1. i can’t decide and 2. i quite honestly am pretty proud of a lot of what i wrote this year
from when the letter says a soldier’s coming home —
Tooru’s squealing somewhere behind them, and Hajime’s gruffly trying to get out the door, and he’ll have to call the school and make up something about being sick so he can spend the day catching up with Daichi, but it can wait. It can all wait. Because Koushi’s waited long enough. It’s about time the rest of the world waits for him.
from strawberries on a summer evening —
Suga hums against him, licking strawberry seeds from between Daichi’s teeth, like he’s just as intoxicated by Daichi as Daichi is with him. Daichi could live here, in this feeling, ignoring everything except how Suga sounds (like bliss personified), smells (like sunblock and sweat), tastes (like sugar and salt). He’s the hottest part of the summer, high noon in mid-August, just this side of too much to handle, but addicting in how it leaves you at its mercy.
from on our way to twenty-seven —
“Sorry, what was your name again?”
Tetsurou opens his mouth to say his American name, but he catches Daichi and Suga looking at him, and he swallows it down. “My name is Tetsurou. Tetsurou Kuroo.”
“I thought you wanted people to call you Tyler,” Timothy says.
Tetsurou shoots him a glare and says it again, feeling his confidence start to grow. “My name is Tetsurou Kuroo. Tetsu is fine, too, but I don’t go by Tyler anymore.”
12. Share or describe a favorite review you received:
any time tasteofsummersnow left me a comment, it made my heart go doki doki!! her comments are so in depth and so very sweet and it’s so much fun to see her real-time reactions to my writing. i go back and reread them like once a week they’re so nice ;_;
13. A time when writing was really, really hard:
the spring/early summer in general was tough, like from march to june. i didn’t post anything between february and may, and i feel like i was struggling a lot creatively around like may/june of this year. i think it’s because a lot of stuff in the 1d fandom was really turning me off at the time and that’s when the burnout fully hit.
14. A scene or character you wrote that surprised you:
definitely sugawara in the city is at war. i was writing that first chapter and initially i just wanted to see him step up when daichi wasn’t around but he very quickly turned sadistic and ruthless and scarily sharp, which is just so much fun to write him as. and his relationship with daichi is just—ugh. love that violence-fueled romance. they would kill a hundred men for each other and be turned on once they were finished.
honestly, all of the city is at war has surprised me. the idea came to me in a dream on a long bus ride, of all the clan leaders having a meeting and being attacked, and i woke up and banged it out in 36 hours. i meant it to be a oneshot but as i wrote it, i realized i loved the au so much there was no way i could leave it at that. so now it’s got a whole plot and all that. fun!
15. How did you grow as a writer this year:
last year i said i felt i grew writing angst and exploring different emotional themes, and i think i built on that even more this year. i did a bunch of shorter pieces this year and i feel a lot of them really explored emotions and characters more than plot, and that’s been so much fun. and then as well, like i said before, i’ve branched out into the crime-action genre with the yakuza au. and! iwaoi horror week was my first real attempt at spooky/creepy/horror-type writing, and, it was a fun challenge for sure.
i also said i wanted to just keep writing and be spontaneous and i definitely did that this year. i posted so many fics not caring how long it had been since the last one—sometimes it was less a day. numbers stopped mattering to me. i posted just because i wanted to put my writing out there and share it with the world, knowing there had to be someone out there who’d like it.
16. How do you hope to grow next year:
i feel like 2019 was a year of trying a lot of new things, so in 2020 i’m hoping to explore some different ships and tropes. the sheer number of characters and ships in haikyuu means there’s a ship for just about every trope and au out there, and i want to play around with some dynamics i’ve never written before.
17. Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc):
as always, a shoutout to the loggies, who have been a fantastic source of inspiration and support all year even after i retired from 1d fic. and i would also like to thank the people i met via various hq discord servers—you know who you are!! thank you for the sprints, the encouragement, the inspiration, and the friendship. as someone brand new to the fandom, the support and sense of community has been nothing short of amazing, and you guys are part of the reason i felt so comfortable in this fandom so quickly.
18. Anything from your real life show up in your writing this year:
actually, yeah. even mountains crumble into the sea was written the night before i broke up with my ex. i wrote it as an exercise to get all my feelings out, lay them all on the table where i could see them and pick through them, and then imagine the best possible way the scenario could go.
19. Any new wisdom you can share with other writers:
honestly—just write! write what you’re happy with. write even if you don’t post it. write, because everything you do is practice that’ll help you improve.
and don’t be afraid to write out of order or write more than one project at a time. i know that won’t work for everyone, but for me, if i didn’t immediately write what was on my mind, i probably wouldn’t have posted half of what i did this year.
20. Any projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year:
hey remember last year when i said i was gonna finish the breath of the wild au?? L M A O i’m really gonna finish it next year i swear!!
i have a fic posting in the spring for the nsfw big bang which i’m ALSO very excited about! i’m lucky to be working with such a talented artist and the end result is gonna be amazing and i’m so so excited.
i also want to keep going with the city is at war, because that plot was a pleasant surprise. and there’s an ever-growing list of fic ideas and aus that i’m so excited to write—some of them were originally for larry aus but i’ve repurposed them for haikyuu pairings and that’s helped breathe new life into some old ideas.
21. Tag some writers whose answers you’d like to read.
anyone who sees this and wants to do it! just tag me, i wanna read your answers!

Chap 01: A Blackened Heart (Jungkook)
The day is October 13th
For high-spirited and independent tattoo artist, Jeon Jungkook, life had always been about living in the moment. Never letting anything and anyone tie him down and conform to the concept of “time” that everyone around him lived by. But all of that will change one autumn afternoon when a mysterious customer enters the parlor with a special request for a tattoo.
 Park Jimin.
At first Jungkook is taken aback by Jimin’s ethereal beauty with his aqua blue hair, smokey colored eyes and slightly childish yet endearing soul, but as the afternoon progresses into night with the two enjoying each other’s company as they work together on Jimin’s tattoo. Something in the older male awakens a strange feeling within Jungkook that he has never experienced before along with a feeling of dread making him second guess every single one of his life’s choices when the topic of family comes up and Jungkook confesses that he hasn’t seen his own parents in over a year due to work. Treating the matter as something insignificant until Jimin tells him:
“You should go see them soon. Time… waits for no one.”
The sentiment, though harmless, only drives Jungkook to mull further into feelings of self-doubt until a single moment of eerie tension and letting his guard down has him tangled against Jimin’s lips in a passionate kiss and vividly sexual hallucinations. Everything comes crashing down to a chilling halt when he pulls away only to see that Jimin’s eyes are glowing crimson and there’s blood on his lips.
Horrified by what he’s seeing, Jungkook tries to snap out of it but finds that he’s unable to move. Jimin reassures that he means no harm to him, but Jungkook without knowing what he’s referring to quickly rejects him.
The last thing he remembers is Jimin’s voice telling him to sleep before he blacks out only to awake the following day at the tattoo parlor as if nothing happened, but Jungkook is still unable to shake off those feelings and wonders if all of it was just a bad dream triggered by over working himself past his limit until he finds a note Jimin left behind, apologizing for what he made him go through even though he knows Jungkook may never want to see him again.
The chapter ends with Jungkook falling to his knees in a whirldwind of mixed emotions plaguing his very being.

  Chapter 02: A Vampire’s Heart (Jimin)
Fast forward to October 25th, this chapter opens with a scene of Jimin alone in Achasan summit silently recalling some lost memories of an old love when suddenly he is joined and greeted warmly by another person.
…or rather a vampire, like himself and heir to the Vampire Kingdom in S. Korea, Kim Seokjin.
Meanwhile, Jungkook’s nights are still being plagued with vivid nightmares and erotic dreams of Jimin that sometimes make no sense even to him. We learn that it has been exactly twelve days since the events that took place at the tattoo parlor between him and Jimin. For which Jungkook still doesn’t know if Jimin was real or not since the beginning.
We also learn that he now bears a similar tattoo to the one he made for Jimin, of a butterfly trapped inside a moon but with colors that remind him of the blue haired male.
The scene changes to somewhere in Hannam where Jimin is arriving at his apartment with Seokjin (who owns the building and helped accommodate him upon his return from Malta where he has been living for more than 60 years). We are also introduced to Taehyung as Jimin’s best friend and a werewolf. Though despite the heartwarming reunion, Seokjin is troubled as he remembers a call he received from Hoseok on the same night Jimin ended up meeting Jungkook at the parlor in Gangnam and the negative effect that meeting had in him to the point of ‘hunting’  again instead of feeding off blood being provided for him. An issue that seemed to have taken place as well years ago when Jimin lost his partner.
Fast forward to a month later (sometime in November). We see Jungkook on the phone with his mother. We learn that the chronic dreams/nightmares took a heavy toll on Jungkook’s life resulting in his boss, Namjoon, having to (forcefully) sending him off on an extended vacation to rest and recover. Though scared of this meaning an ultimatum on his job, Jungkook eventually sees it as an opportunity to catch up with his family by traveling to Busan, returning with a renewed strength to get his life back on track. But all progress of recovery crumbles when his mother mentions Jimin’s name by stating that Jungkook would mumble his name in his sleep quite often. Once again making Jungkook question the boundaries between reality and fantasy as well as his desperate need to see Jimin again.
Time passes, it is now Saturday, December 16th. Jimin is shown practicing alone for a special performance during the annual Vampire Ball to be held in mid December to celebrate Taehyung & Seokjin’s birthdays. We learn through a brief flashback that it took the duo some work persuading Jimin into participating in the ball, meanwhile Jimin is still hell-bent on leaving Korea again after the party.
Meanwhile in Gangnam Jungkook is back to working at the parlor and things seem to have “gone back to normal” for everyone. Just then two men suddenly enter the parlor to leave some flyers for a party, making Jungkook suspicious of them until Namjoon recognizes and greets the pair as his longtime friends, Hoseok and Taehyung.
Jungkook meanwhile decides to let his hyung handle it while he goes back to work. However, a few minutes in he begins to have this horrible sense of deja vú when he notices that one of Namjoon’s friends, Taehyung, has stayed behind observing the shop instead of following the other two elsewhere. Despite the initial tension, the two engage in small chatter over some of the designs on the wall but when Taehyung notices Jungkook’s tattoo on his forearm that resembles Jimin’s, the scene changes like flipping a switch but before it can get any further they are interrupted by Hoseok and Namjoon coming out of the back office. Causing the two to put some distance between them and though there is calm, the moment that Hoseok mentions Jimin’s name out loud it is Taehyung who makes a move to gather his mate and leave the parlor before Jungkook can start making questions.
Outside in the parking lot Hoseok corners and forces Taehyung into telling him what happened inside the parlor until his mate confesses to have recognized Jungkook. The guy Jimin had interacted with. Hoseok questions how can this be, since Jimin himself told them that he took care of Jungkook that night, Taehyung in turn explains that Jimin only said that to him and Seokjin to prevent them from going after Jungkook to sever the loose ends, but that Taehyung knew he was still alive.
On cue, Jungkook appears in the parking lot after having followed them over. Surprised by his presence, Taehyung goes on the defensive and jumps over Hoseok, shifting into a wolf in the process to pin Jungkook against the ground so as to stop him from getting close to them.
Faced with this unexpected turn of events, Jungkook lays frozen in fear expecting the worse when someone else comes to his defense. Succeeding in getting Taehyung off of him. His savior is none other than Namjoon.
Recognizing this as a loosing and unnecessary battle, Hoseok and Taehyung begin to retreat when Jungkook begs them not to until they tell him about Jimin. Seeing that Jungkook means no real harm to them, Hoseok agrees to answer whatever questions he might have but soon realizes that Jungkook has no idea Jimin is a vampire yet is desperate to see him.
The scene ends with Hoseok and Namjoon making a deal. Namjoon will be in charge of telling Jungkook the truth about everything and if and ONLY IF by the end of hearing said truth he still wants to see Jimin, he will be allowed to attend the Vampire Ball where the two will reunite.
If not, Namjoon must kill him.
  ------
  Chapter 03: A Blackened Soul
The chapter opens up at Namjoon’s house somewhere at the outskirts of Seoul.
By now Namjoon has revealed to Jungkook the basics of the back story and thus exposing himself as a thousand year old warlock who has known the group for many years. Jungkook, though upset that his friend and boss has kept so many secrets from him since they met, is awfully calmed about the situation.
But what spikes his curiosity to the max is an old photograph he finds in one of the shelves in the living room, dating back to the 1950s that shows Namjoon in the company of 5 other individuals. Three which he recognizes as Taehyung, Hoseok and of course Jimin. The five names signed in the back of the photograph shed more light on who the remaining two are.
Yet the one that calls his attention the most is the man by Jimin’s side and who seems to be intimately close to him.
 Min Yoongi.
Sensing his intent, Namjoon asks Jungkook how much he wants to know. To which Jungkook declares:
 “Everything.”
Meanwhile in Hannam Hoseok’s in a late night meeting with Seokjin at his and Taehyung’s shared apartment. Updating the older vampire on the events that transpired that day. We also know that he and Taehyung had a fight upon returning home which resulted in Taehyung walking out to spend time with Jimin to blow off some steam.
Seokjin analyzes the situation and wisely tells Hoseok of the pros and cons of the deal he made with Namjoon. And to prepare for any possible case scenario unfolding before or after the ball.
Meanwhile at Jimin’s apartment a few floors down, he and Taehyung are bonding over movie night. But at some point Taehyung is unable to concentrate on the movie as his mind keeps replaying what happened at Namjoon’s tattoo parlor with Jungkook. Caught in between wanting to see Jimin happy or risk having him live through another deception and heartache that could take the smaller vampire away from him just like it happened years prior.
Being in tune with his beloved friend and soulmate’s emotions, Jimin asks him what was wrong while secretly hiding his own troubled thoughts after picking up a familiar scent on Taehyung’s body that reminds him of Jungkook. Yet tries to ignore it.  By now it is clear that neither of them had been paying attention to the movie so Jimin shuts it off, both now painfully aware of the tension between them when Taehyung suddenly asks:
“If by some strange turn of events, a change of heart… One day you find yourself walking down the street and ran into Jungkook again… What will you do then?”
For some reason the question sparks Jimin’s anger as he confronts Taehyung, accusing him of tracking down Jungkook even when he had specifically asked him NOT TO.
Taehyung of course denies the claim and insists to know Jimin’s answer to his previous question, but Jimin replies by saying that there is nothing to answer. To which Taehyung counters by stating that the smaller vampire trembles at the sound of Jungkook’s name as if insinuating that he still has hopes of seeing him again.
The two then share a moment, silently contemplating on all their past lives together throughout the centuries as friend, partners in crime and lovers. But the moment is short-lived as Jimin harshly reminds Taehyung that all of that is in the past and they must now live in the present where Taehyung is mated to Hoseok for life, while Jimin must continue and move on alone. Acknowledging that Jungkook simply will not return and that he had no intention on waiting for him
 “Not again…”
This statement angers Taehyung for comparing Jungkook to the lover that once hurt and abandoned Jimin all those years ago. Something that he voices out loud before storming out of his apartment.
Now alone with his thoughts and after a quick feeding on blood units. Jimin reasons with himself and makes it a final decision to leave Korea for good right after the ball. So without further delay, begins packing early when an object falls from his backpack which he recognizes as a photograph of him and his former lover, Yoongi.
He stares at the photograph for a few minutes thinking back on everything they shared together before walking out into the balcony burn it and with it, the memory and feelings left in his heart.
At the same time back at Namjoon’s place. The warlock begins telling Jungkook what little bits of his own past that he remembers, how he was fooled into making a pact that granted him not only his powers, but his immortality as well. Consequentially sacrificing the lives of the people he was supposed to protect. This of course eventually led him to isolate himself from everything and everyone until one day, vampire royalty Kim Seokjin, walked into his life to offer him a chance to see the world through a new set of eyes. Which of course he accepts, thinking that he had nothing left to loose.
Involving the two in a strange on and off co-dependent relationship throughout the many decades until he finally met the others during the 1800s-mid 1900s and eventually all of them parted ways sometime during mid 1950s after the group photo that Jungkook found was taken.
There’s a brief pause when Namjoon moves to sit under a window to smoke and give Jungkook some time to digest every detail of the story he has been told for the past hours of the night.
What Jungkook doesn’t realize in time, however, is that Namjoon is secretly poisoning him through whatever the hell he’s smoking and only barely catches on the minute that he becomes weak and lightheaded. But refusing to go down so easily, Jungkook stands and immediately demands to at least know who Min Yoongi was and his connection to Jimin.
To his astonishment Namjoon reveals that the reason why he will never meet Yoongi to know from his own mouth is because he’s dead. Yet continues on to explain that he and Jimin were once lovers, but that Jimin “lost him” two years after the group photo was taken under strange circumstances that are still unknown even to them. The episode was apparently so traumatizing that Seokjin had Jimin secluded to prevent him from killing humans indiscriminately after being so overcome with anger and sorrow from his loss.
This last bit of information shocks Jungkook to the core as he is unable to imagine Jimin being the type to just kill without reason and for a moment his faith wavers thinking that maybe he truly knew nothing about Jimin and perhaps his attraction was simply a side effect of his vampiric dark gift. Until he begins to recall the letter Jimin left for him to find at the parlor the following morning. How sincere his words had sounded even after confessing that his initial intentions were to prey on him, but gradually changed his mind after finding a kindred soul in Jungkook.
Someone who shared his pain and loneliness.
With this resolve in mind Jungkook confidently tells Namjoon that he’s ready and wants to see Jimin again.
“I don’t care what he is; I don’t care what or who he used to be before that night. I need to see him again in order to set things right.”
Pleased with his answer, Namjoon agrees to help him reunite with Jimin and offers Jungkook a drink to celebrate the occasion but the latter looses consciousness afterwards.
That night Jungkook has numerous confusing dreams that he can’t quite tell if they’re really dreams or someone else’ memories. Only that when he awakens he’s not only back at his apartment (specifically lying on the bathroom floor), but also discovers that he’s been out cold for nearly 24 hours.
A New Message arrives at his phone from an Unknown Number that simply read: “You are cordially invited.” And upon opening it his suspicions are confirmed.
 [Greetings, Jeon Jungkook.
You have been exclusively invited to the annual Vampire Ball
Saturday, December 15th - @ Paju, SK.
Inside the City Hall building of English Village.
Doors open at 7pm
The theme is ‘masquerade’.
Your attendance is highly anticipated, don’t be late.]
Overjoyed by this achievement, Jungkook excitedly awaits for the day of the ball and the chance to see Jimin again.
A final timeskip takes us to Saturday, December 15th - Night of the Ball. Where the last minute preparations are taking place inside the City Hall with Seokjin’s watchful eyes.
Meanwhile, Jimin and Taehyung have by now reconciled from their last argument and are now getting ready, along with Hoseok, for the night’s special events.
There is a moment right after Taehyung leaves to a different room to finish his own preparations where we see Hoseok battling with his own inner turmoil and guilt for everything that happened to Jimin in the past and recently. As he used to be close to his late lover, Yoongi, with whom he had plotted to separate Taehyung and Jimin in order to give Yoongi an advantage to keep Jimin for himself. Knowing full well that Yoongi was a walking time-bomb due to a tragic past and it would resurface any minute.
To this day, Hoseok is still unable to forgive himself for what happened even though Jimin had forgiven him a long time ago.
The final scene of this chapter shows Namjoon and Jungkook on their way to the ball. With Jungkook asking Namjoon why he hadn’t revealed much of Jimin’s story the way he had done for the others. To which Namjoon retorts:
“Well, perhaps you’ll be able to ask him that question yourself tonight when you meet again.”
The scene closes with Jungkook looking out the window as they near the venue with a heavy heart and wondering if Jimin will just as glad to see him.

July Forecast for Scorpio
The pace is picking up again, Scorpio! If you’ve felt stuck in a bit of a holding pattern for the last couple of months, you’ll be happy to hear that’s about to change. Get ready to say “out with the old, in with the new” in a big way. Shake off any frustration or pessimism and focus on what’s ahead: an unscripted and exciting adventure. You’ll feel it palpably for the first three weeks of the month as the Sun roars through Cancer and your expansive ninth house, heating up travel, study and entrepreneurial plans, along with your insatiable curiosity.
This optimistic and can-do solar cycle has you percolating with grand ideas, all the more because one of this summer’s three scene-stealing eclipses lands in Cancer on July 12, rocketing you into unchartered territory. (More on that in a minute.) If you’ve been keeping a low profile or wondering whether to take a leap of faith, you might be ready to jump by mid-month.
Another huge boost for this arrives on July 10, when Jupiter, the planet of growth, adventure and long-distance connections, ends a four-month retrograde in YOUR sign. Prepare for liftoff! Scorpios who’ve felt restless energy, chaos or stalled plans since March 8 will love the restored momentum. And trust us, you do NOT want to squander it. Jupiter only comes to your sign every 12 years, and it’s in Scorpio from October 10, 2017, until November 8, 2018. The next four months are full speed ahead on your reinvention tour.
Since last fall, Jupiter’s been kicking off a fresh decade-plus chapter of your life. If things have felt new yet disorienting, that’s normal. You’re in totally unfamiliar territory here and might be a little out of control—NOT a Scorpio’s favorite sensation. The retrograde slowdown gave you a chance to process all this novelty, which may have shocked your delicate system.
Pack a spare parachute anyway, because five planets will be retrograde throughout the month. In addition to Jupiter, energizer Mars is retrograde in Aquarius and your domestic zone, causing family friction or stress around your living situation. Saturn and Pluto are reversing through Capricorn and your communication house, which could ramp up tension or weird power dynamics, as people may be talking out of both sides of their mouth. And foggy Neptune is retrograde in Pisces and your passionate fifth house, amping up the drama in your love life and bringing a need for more clarity. Since these retrogrades are strongly impacting your interpersonal relations, take the time to REALLY think about what you want—or even to set a single intention—before launching into discussions. Otherwise, you’ll end up in circular conversations, especially at the end of the month, when interactive Mercury joins the retrograde brigade.
Two days after Jupiter turns direct (forward), the aforementioned Cancer partial solar (new moon) eclipse activates your ninth house of expansion and broader perspectives. Eclipses sweep in four to six times a year, removing anything that’s past its expiration date and flinging open the doors for a fresh start. Solar eclipses mark bold beginnings and can set us on a whole new (and unexpected) path. This one is the first in a series on the Cancer/Capricorn axis that will continue through July 2020, bringing exciting developments to your communication sectors. Writing, teaching, learning, traveling and publishing could become priority items. You may get involved in your community, move to a new neighborhood or connect to another part of the world through work, personal interest or even a relocation.
This is the only eclipse from this group in 2018, and it’s just a sneak preview of changes that will really take flight in 2019. Still, it will be an intense start! On July 12, the Sun and new moon are exactly opposite your celestial co-ruler, power monger Pluto, which is in Capricorn and your third house of communication and community. Keep some of those exciting plans under wraps, even if you want to crow it from the rooftops. A sibling, colleague or friend could be surprisingly unsupportive, perhaps because they feel jealous or threatened by your success. If you’re planning to spring a big change on anyone, do it gently—or wait until everything is fully confirmed. The unexpected shade could take the wind out of your sails, making you second-guess an awesome idea before you give it a fighting chance. Don’t let any seeds of doubt take root, Scorpio!
At this outspoken eclipse, you may serve up some long-overdue truth serum by having an honest but necessary conversation. Choose your words carefully and try not to take anyone’s intense reactions to heart. And remember, if you’re gonna dish it out, you have to be prepared to take it. Pluto rules the unconscious, so before you go reading someone the riot act, make sure you’re not projecting your own stuff onto them.
Whew! There’s so much energy swirling around and so many ideas percolating that you can barely sit still. You can begin to put some of those blue-sky visions into a structure on July 22, when the Sun commences its month-long visit to Leo and your tenth house of ambition, goals and professional success. The energy will become more focused now, helping you plan and refine—to sort the best of your creative “crops” and select the keepers. Work could get busy and demanding, and the stars align for some power moves. While everyone else is checked out in summer-vacation mode, sidle up to the decision makers and score some brownie points.
But do it fast, because from July 26 to August 19, Mercury, the planet of communication, technology and travel, will be retrograde in Leo, which can scramble signals and cause technological mayhem, especially at work. Clients and bosses may be royal pains, changing their minds or delaying decisions with bureaucracy. If you’re thinking of investing in a new laptop, phone, printer or email or website host, wait until after the retrograde. If you can’t, spend the few extra bucks for the insurance and full warranty. Back up all your files and always review before hitting “send” or “publish.”
Retrogrades ARE favorable for connecting with your past, so if you’re job-hunting, talk to an old boss or client who could have valuable leads, if not an actual position to offer. Since the tenth house rules your public image, this is a great time to work on a branding refresh—just unveil it in September or October, when retrograde high season has passed.
The next day brings even more intensity because on July 27, a total lunar (full moon) eclipse in Aquarius will shake up your fourth house of home, family and emotional foundations. Just as you’re trying to hit some curveballs at work, this topsy-turvy eclipse brings some changes to your domestic life. Lunar eclipses can demand more adjustment than solar ones since full moons mark transitions and turning points. This one could bring a change to your living situation, a move or real estate move, or an important resolution involving a female relative (possibly your mom).
With family in the focus of this eclipse, you might get news of a pregnancy or need to deal with a parenting issue. Since the eclipse is traveling in close proximity to aggravator Mars, there can be no more sweeping some part of your personal life under the rug. No decision will ever be “perfect,” Scorpio, so get off the fence and make a move—or prepare to have the eclipse decide it for you. For example, if you’ve been looking at home after home, you could miss the boat, and a place you really like gets scooped up by someone else. A roommate might make a sudden exit, or you could decide it’s time to implement some new house rules—and to carve out some sacred space for yourself.
This is the final Aquarius eclipse in a series that’s been touching down on the Leo/Aquarius axis since February 2017, resetting your work-life balance and bringing big changes to both your personal and professional lives. Look back to the prior two Aquarius eclipses on August 7, 2017, and February 15, 2018, for clues of what might fully come together now. There will be one last Leo eclipse on January 21, 2019, which could bring a major professional change or upgrade. Between now and then, continue implementing bold changes that align with Scorpio 2.0. Cue the Diana Ross: You’re coming out!
Love & Romance
Your co-ruler, feisty Mars, is retrograde in Aquarius and your most personal sector all month, churning up strong feelings and making you more sensitive than usual. Family stress could have a direct effect on your relationship, which doesn’t help when you’re already feeling thin-skinned. Stay vigilant, so that you don’t project old baggage on each other. And if you DO slip, catch yourself before something regrettable is said or done. With tension-inducing Mars gone awry, you may feel “cramped” by your partner—emotionally or physically—regardless of whether you live together or not. Scorpios who’ve been considering getting pregnant or moving (especially into a cohabitation sitch) could have second thoughts about it now. These are things you DON’T want to rush or be pressured into!
On the flip side of your chart, Venus is in Leo and your goal-driven tenth house until July 9, helping you focus on the big picture and long-range plans. When you’re not busy at evening work events and cocktail mixers, this is a stellar time to dress up and do anything that will get you out of the house. Single Scorpios might meet a very eligible prospect at a work-related party or conference. Just another reason to dress to impress!
On July 9, Venus swings into Virgo and your festive eleventh house, fueling your desire to go out more and hang with friends who know how to have fun and keep things light. A great way to escape emotional drama and intensity is by surrounding yourself with upbeat, interesting people. Since the eleventh house also rules social activism and community service, you’ll gain a deep sense of satisfaction donating time to helping people in need. Bonus points for attached Scorpios if you do it as a couple. Single? This is another awesome way to meet someone you could not only be attracted to but whose values you share and whose ethics you admire.
Throughout the month, Venus will form flowing trines to innovative Uranus (July 11), structured Saturn (July 14) and transformational Pluto (July 27) in your “people” houses. Sparks could fly while out mingling, or you might actually have luck meeting a “keeper” online. You may have to make the first move, but hey, why not?
Key Dates
July 24: Venus-Neptune Opposition You might think you’re playing it cool by holding back in a relationship, but in reality, all you’re doing is increasing someone’s insecurities. If you want the drama to die down, stop playing games and reveal your genuine feelings.
Money & Career
Go big, Scorpio! The energy for the first three weeks of July is #nolimits, and your dreams get major star-powered support. Lucky Jupiter zooms full speed ahead through Scorpio starting July 10, taking your solo projects from dial-up to broadband speed until November 8. The Sun will be swirling through Cancer and your visionary ninth house until July 22, but this lucky and enterprising zone really gets a lift at the July 12 Cancer solar eclipse. It could bring a grand opportunity to teach, travel, share your ideas through major media or spearhead a bold project that unites different groups of people. Start thinking outside the box in a bottomless way, Scorpio, because this is a sneak preview of a new eclipse series on the Cancer/Capricorn continuum that can make you a major influencer between now and July 2020. Do some vocal warm-up exercises; yours could be the voice that everyone listens to!
Your annual professional high season arrives on July 22, when the Sun enters Leo and your tenth house of career until August 23. Unfortunately, you’ll have to bob and weave your way through Mercury’s retrograde in Leo from July 26 to August 19, which could feel like two steps forward, one step back. Continue forging ahead, even if you face delays or red tape. Take special care to save any important documents to the cloud (plus a couple additional backup devices). Since retrogrades are great times for tweaking and revising, you might spend this cycle polishing your resume with a recruiter, working with a business coach or putting the finishing touches on a major proposal.
Key Dates
July 9: Mercury-Jupiter Square You’ve crafted some big plans, and now you want to scrap them all! Your master strategy, brilliant as it is, feels confining. Loosen up so you don’t crush your spirit. With expansive Jupiter in your sign, you need space to grow and experiment. Make sure there’s enough wiggle room for that.
