meeting since you’re friends with star and marco

you were returning one of the laser puppies that had been wandering along the sidewalk

he had been at marco’s house to... cause problems for diaz? i don’t know, that sounds like a tom thing to do, right?

his jaw practically hit the floor at the sight of you

and his eyes only left you when you waved goodbye to the three of them

“who is that?!”

star was almost beaming at the opportunity to finally get rid of her annoying ex-boyfriend

plus she thought you’d be cute together, but whatevs

grabbing his hand, she basically drags him out the door to catch up with you, shouting your name for the whole neighborhood to hear

you turn, obviously confused and slightly embarrassed as she comes to a stop in front of you

“meet tom! okay, bye!”

tom can feel himself about to burst into flames when she quickly skips away, giggling loudly, “yes! finally!”

“what was that about?”

oh...

right... he has to talk to you now, doesn’t he?

somehow, someway, tom managed to not scare you off with his whole ‘prince of the underworld’ thing

which led to a friendship

and an even better relationship

or, as marco liked to call it, “sickening”

whenever you went to hang out with star and marco, they knew tom couldn’t be very far behind

the two of you were always together

tom is completely wrapped around your finger

constantly following you around like a lost laser puppy

wrapping his arms around you from behind and resting his head lazily against your shoulder

holding your hand, feeling the need to perform even the smallest gesture to show everyone that you’re his

sometimes he’ll swing your arms back and forth just to make you smile if he thinks you’re going to let go

you (and marshmallow) help him with his temper

his eyes would be glowing and he could feel flames beginning to flicker around him as he glares at the demon in front of him

but everything suddenly becomes calm when he feels a gentle hand on his back and hears you quietly whisper, “tom? i wanna go now. will you take me home?”

he’ll blink as his feet, which he hadn’t even noticed had left the floor, returned to the ground. glaring at the smirking demon who had made him angry in the first place, he sharply exhales and rolls his eyes before finally looking at you, “sure. yeah, c’mon, let’s go.”

he’d quickly forget about the demon who had made him angry in the first place as you wrap your arm around his and tug him along to his awaiting carriage

which leads us to cuddles

man, does tom like to cuddle!

hiding his face against your shirt as he rests his head on your stomach

tucking his arms beneath you to pull you even closer

closing his eyes when you begin running your fingers through his hair

feeling a smile spreading across his face as he quietly mumbles, “do you wanna meet my parents?”

and finally glaring at you when he’s shoved unceremoniously off the bed and onto the floor as you loudly shout, “what?!”

that’s how you ended up nervously twiddling your thumbs outside the lucitor family lake house, thinking about tom’s encouraging words of “don’t be shy!” and “don’t worry! they’re going to love you!”

fortunately for you, he’s right

unfortunately for him, he’s right

tom is eventually left pouting alone on the sofa as he slowly comes to the conclusion that his parents love you more than him, shaking his head while he sulks with crossed arms

his life is now constantly filled with questions from his mom as to when he’s bringing you around for dinner again while his dad tries to decide which of tom’s embarrassing childhood photos would be your favorite

of course, he’s happy that you get along with his parents! but sometimes he thinks he might have made a mistake by inviting you over that day, lol

⚠️Long Post Alert⚠️

Alright I've seen a lot of (negative) buzz around Disney's new show "Primos" so I'm gonna put my 2 cents in

According to the Primos wiki, the show is about "Tater, an eccentric 10-year-old girl with big dreams and, unbeknownst to her, a certain “it factor” that makes her exceptional. When her 12 cousins (“primos” in Spanish) move in for the summer, they help her discover just what it is. Tater’s aspirations and larger-than-life imagination are seen via entries in her super-secret diary, which turn her deepest thoughts into grandiose animation sequences."

FIRST, it's yet ANOTHER piece of children's media about the main character + their large Latin American family.

Upon doing some research apparently this show is about the creator's personal experiences, which okay valid. But when creating media that meant to represent a community it would be better to offer a DIFFERENT perspective rather than give us the same trope that has been done to DEATH.

And I'm gonna be real with yall, I LOVE Coco and Encanto, but both movies also fall under this trope. Not all Latin American families live with their extended family, we don't need ANOTHER piece of media perpetuating the stereotype.

Also, Disney has been putting out a few shows on Disney Channel and Disney Junior that are clear knock offs of Nickelodeon shows. Some examples:

And...hm....lemme think....a kids TV show about a Mexican girl and her quirky large Mexican family getting into some Mexican™️ shenanigans...where have I seen that before...?

Oh right

Yeah the premises are slightly different, but it's essentially the same trope so already right off the bat Primos feels like a knock off version of The Casagrandes.

SECOND, there are many stereotypes already present in the series just from tbe opening theme. Many of the cousins fall into stereotypes themselves, particularly the names. Some the names of the cousins are Gordita, Big Nacho, Nachito, and Cookita. I've seen people justify the use of these names by saying many Latin Americans are given these names as nicknames, which is true. But then again, having a characters named Nacho and Gordita in a show that's supposed to be about LatAm representation is just in bad taste. It's giving "Marco Diaz from Star vs. the Forces of Evil being half Mexican and being obsessed with nachos for some reason but not representing his Latino heritage in any other way other than him wearing that Day of the Dead themed costume in The Blood Moon Ball ep." It feels lazy, and of course, stereotypical.

On TOP of this, the word "Cookita" in many LatAm countries is slang for pussy and the suffix "-ita" means small. And the character with this name is the BABY. So yeah maybe naming the B A B Y character something that to many Spanish speakers means "little pussy" in a show ABOUT Spanish speaking Latin Americans probably isn't the wisest decision.

Another detail people have been pointing out leans into negative Mexican stereotypes is the use of the "yellow filter".

Now I'm gonna be real and say I'm not 100% convinced about the yellow filter being used here. The show takes place over the summer, so the use of yellow might may be used to give the feeling of how hot it is, but I can totally see why Latin Americans would find this offensive.

Also the name "Terremoto Heights" has been heavily criticized. Terremoto means "earthquake" in Spanish and the earthquakes are common in LatAm countries. Then again, show takes place in LA, where a lot of earthquakes occur too. So Im not 100% convinced that this is flat out racist either, but it's definitely in poor taste.

THIRD, the thing that is being SLAMMED at the most, is the improper Spanish grammar and the creator's response to people pointing it out.

In the theme song, the phrase "¡Oye! Primos" is used a lot, which means "Hey cousins!" The issue with this phrase is that "Oye" means hey but in the singular tense, and "Primos" is plural. If you plug in "¡Oye! Primos" to Google translate you'll get Hey Cousins regardless, but in Spanish the phrase is not grammatically correct. In order for it to be grammatically correct the phrase would either need to be changed to "¡Oigan! Primos", "oigan" being the plural word for Hey, or "¡Oye! Primo" and make primo singular. People have been telling this to the creators of the series and well...they haven't exactly been taking it well.

Here's what the voice actress of the main character Tater, Myrna Garcia Velasco said her on social media (Instagram I think, I could be wrong) in response to the bad Spanish:

(If you can't listen to it I'll just summarize. Velasco says that Spanish is the language of the Spanish conquistadors and the only reason why Latinos are LATIN American and not indigenous is because of the Spanish, and to stay mad if you think her incorrect Spanish is an issue. She also brings up how they're "trying to make a good show" for kids who "don't have a grasp on any language" or something?? Idk that's pretty much what she's saying")

Basically this response doesn't make any fucking sense. "Spanish isn't our original language so it doesn't matter if I speak it correctly or not. I'm a NATIVE Mexican so it doesn't matter if I speak Spanish correctly or not"

???????

Girl what the fuck does this mean??? News flash, but the majority of Latin America has been speaking Spanish for CENTURIES. You go to Mexico or most other Latin American countries and you'll find them speaking SPANISH. Yes it's because of the Spanish but it's part of our culture now whether you like it or not. It's like saying "oh it doesn't matter if I speak English correctly or not cause English isn't the US' ORIGINAL language anyway" ?????

Now, the story IS about a mixed kid. Tater is half white half Mexican, so if Tater is a Latina girl who doesn't know Spanish fluently (otherwise known as a "No-Sabo" kid), then the imperfect Spanish would make sense. If the idea behind Primos is to represent the Latin American kids who don't speak Spanish, then yeah thats fine and it was a directoral choice. But judging by Velasco's response, that doesn't seem like thats the idea?? She immediately got defensive and brought up the Spanish colonizers?? Which is relevant??? HOW???

On top of that, one member of the creative team, (not 100% sure who) called someone a "Grammar N@zi" for pointing out the grammatical errors and, well...

That's def not helping their case.

How the HELL are you gonna make show about a Spanish speaking Latin American family and NOT SPEAK SPANISH PROPERLY??? How the HELL are you gonna start beef with SPANISH SPEAKERS over whether or not it's important to speak Spanish CORRECTLY when portraying SPANISH SPEAKING PEOPLE IN MEDIA??? Yes slang exists, yes different LatAm countries speak Spanish differently, but grammar still exists??

OVERALL: Do I think Primos is this horribly racist dumpster fire? No. Are there MANY choices in this show that are just in poor taste? Absolutely 100%. Are the responses from the creative team outta pocket? Yes of course.

If you ask me, I think the main reason why people are so outraged over Primos is because the stereotypes and tropes are tired and dated, and people KNOW what writers are capable of. The response of this teaser, sandwiched between The Owl House ending and the premier of Across the Spiderverse, which have STELLAR LatAm rep, is proof of that. Luz Noceda, Miles Morales and Miguel O'Hara are SHINING examples of good SPANISH SPEAKING LatAm representation in children's media. We CAN have good LatAm protagonists in mediation, we've SEEN IT. We don't need all the stereotypes and overused tropes, so it makes sense why so many LatAm people feel like Primos is offensive and a step backwards.

Disney is getting lazy, they need to get their shit together

APRIL 2023: My creative juices came back. To express my deep appreciation to The Owl House, I created this piece weeks after the series finale. I love all kinds of music, including the 80s. My inspiration for this was based on the song by Swing Out Sister called "Breakout," wherein the Hexsquad (Luz, Amity, Willow, Gus, and Hunter) dressed to impress similar to the song's music video.

LAST WEEK: Hey, Hey, Weird Boys are on it! Imagine Scott Denoga (from Hailey's On It!) and Marco Diaz (from Star vs. the Forces of Evil) swapped their outfits for a day (or an episode). It's like swapping the Super Awesome Nachos with a can of Dingles. Sick crossover!

You know if you've read about what happens in the Adventure Time series finale, especially regarding Ice King, how would it effect your Ice Queen Marcy AU? Would Marcy have eventually managed to become human again without dying of age automatically? Would Anne and Sasha be the same age as Marcy physically by the same she became normal (meaning age difference wouldn't be a problem for shipping)?

I think I know the broad strokes? Some god being descends to end the plot. Resets the crown and frees Simon from its influence?

I definitely would have Marcy free by the end of the AU, but I think they would use some other wish macguffin. Probably Prismo to free her.

So in an earlier ask I established Marcy went full witch queen around age 20. I'm gonna stick to that cause I think the Marceline aspect of this Arc is one of my favorites

As for shipping, you know I started typing this picturing Sashannarcy... but honestly I think the only real options for me would be for this to be either a au where the trio are platonic or for this to be a Sashanne AU. As to why lets look at our options

Unattuning from the crown reverts Marcy to her physical and mental state when she attuned to the crown(13/13). Here the story would last around 1 year Bad This effectively removes Marcy's relationship with Marceline and would feel unsatisfactory. I love baseline Marcy for her potential but I don't want to effectively erase her arc just so shipping can happen.

Unattuning from the crown reverts Marcy to her physical state of when she attuned, but mental state of when she lost her mind. Again Story would last around 1 year (13/20). Bad This is where you get to that weird Marco Diaz territory of having an adult in a childs body. Always weird. Always bad

Unattuning from the Crown reverts Marcy to her Physical and mental state of when she lost her mind (20/20). I think this is the best and most interesting option. But for shipping Marcy with the girls, the story would need a timeline of like 5 or 6 years to get them all within the age ballpark of each other. Difficult Writing that much material without egregious timeskips would be a herculean task. Finn Adventure Time went from age 12-17 in 10 god damn seasons. I think this option would absolutely kill the pacing of the AU. Plus like all three of them would be massively different people by the end of it with wildly different lived experiences. Marcy spent her teenage years basically raising a child and savaging ruins in the wake of armageddon. Anne and Sasha spent their teenage years basically growing up as the kind of adventurers Marcy fantasized about. Like stay friends, care about each other? Absolutely. Dating though? I think it would feel forced.

Ultimately I think the timeline I imagine this story happening on would be like 2-3 years tops. Putting a Anne and Sash at 15-16 and absolutely in the weird zone for them all to be dating.

I think their relationship just has to change.

Honestly I think the most interesting option would be to leverage several of those times when Ice King manages to break free from the crown to establish a new dynamic. I think there would be an episode like that when Anne and Sash are still 13, and something just clicks in Marcy's head as she reckons with the fact that "Holy shit, they are about as old as Marceline was when I went under." and that just flips a switch and she can't see them as potential partners ever again.

I think we end up with this fascinating dynamic. I think Anne and Sasha bond in their quest to save Marcy and that does turn romantic. Do to aforementioned switchflip, Marcy is just genuinely happy for them. and spends a lot of her time split between exploring Ooo, visiting the girls, and visiting Marceline. I don't have anyone in mind to ship with her atm since most named characters are under 18 from what I can tell?

Anyways, those are my thoughts. Obviously you could tweak various parts of the AU to make it not weird for Marcy to date the girls, but for my take? I don't think it works

Hi! I am here today to present you with my own idea for some sorta OC. Before I start just know I have not seen the show in years, am not planning to recently, and I might get tidbits wrong or some out of character moments: With that all settled, please listen for a second Comet butterfly the second. *Basicaly, star's twin sister made to parallel her, while star is extroverted and adventurous, comet is more reserved and socialy awkward, you can see where I'm going? Well then,*imagine along with me. *Imagine seeing the difference in attitude with star as the rebellious monster fighter and comet as a rule advocate yet so spineless she joins star on rides anyway *Imagine them being sent to earth along to learn and take care of each other *Imagine the starting episodes being more or less the sam since comet really still has barely any confidence *Imagine comet going out and hanging more with the Diaz parents while star and marco do some crazy thing together *Imagine comet learning more of earth culture out of curiosity and ending up getting more and more attached to it *Imagine both sisters getting to see more of the ugly sides of mewni in their own ways and having differences in what the problem is *Imagine comet going more with star and friends ever since toffee "died" in season 1 *Imagine comet feeling slightly jealous or even insecure of herself seeing star shine more and more as episodes go, feeling left out *Imagine comet having chats with moon or river on the kingdom or who the heir could be, or some problems she notices in mewni *Imagine the notice of having to come back and leave earth, along with ludo overtrowing the castle and magic fading out *Imagine a scene of her just letting go and just going BERSERK on the rats on the castle *Imagine her seein star beat toffee with a single blast with her butterfly form, now realizing how much her sister is overshadowing her *Imagine her being more excentric after the battle for mewni, though she seems to lock her self to other even more than before *Imagine comet having episodes for herself of learning her own spells such as shadow minions or shapeshifting *Imagine her getting a talk with rhombulus and getting more in contact with the magic commission, starting a genuine friendship *Imagine her seeing eclipsa and wondering what would that even mean for who gets the crown *Imagine her getting to talk more of her insecurities with eclipsa for some sort of venting opportunity *Imagine her talk more an dmore of the problems plaguing mewni or how star has no interest on ruling, saying if she is the one to end up in the throne at the end,(In her opinion) she might not do much to change things for the better *Imagine comet learning more of her lineage and how many queens have been described in a sentence or two, with the poverty of common folk and social classes not changing in centuries. *Imagine comet learning of the queen portraits, seeing star with her own, comet barely appearing on it *Imagine comet showing her fear of not being worth or meaning anything, terrified of the aspect of being seen as only the twin of yet another Butterfly monarch *Imagine her being there with the meteora reveal, realizing she is not even real royalty, wondering what will even happen now

At last! After long excruciating years, four Filipino athletes finally rose above and satiated our country’s hunger for victory in the Tokyo Summer Olympics 2020, held from July 23 to August 8, 2021. Hidilyn Diaz, Nesthy Petecio, Carlo Paalam, and Eumir Marcial brought immense pride to the Philippines as they took home a haul of four medals – the most that the country had since 1932, thus lighting the fire in the hearts of the nation’s people. However, this fulfilling spectacle should not only serve as the fulfillment of a dream we have longed for, this should also serve as a starter motivation to Filipino athletes more so to sports-related government agencies to continue bringing our athletes' dream to life.

Filipinos firmly supported and loved all of 19 athletes, who proudly represented and fought for Pinoy Pride despite the seemingly unfaltering threat of the coronavirus. This is very evident with Philippines being one of the most active countries on social media in support for Filipino athletes in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Bagging the Philippines’ first-ever Olympic gold medal, Diaz, the weightlifter from Zamboanga City, became an inspiration to a lot of aspiring weightlifters and women alike for her triumph in spite of hardships and sacrifices in her well-known Olympic journey. Petecio, Paalam, and Marcial – the boxing trio brought similar glory to the Filipinos as they successfully couped two silver medals and one bronze medal, respectively. Their triumph will be a welcome addition to history books and will be etched on Filipino memory forever.

The medalists were rewarded millions worth of incentives from both the government and the private sector. Aside from the sportsmen who stood on the podium, the non-medalists were also granted Php 500,000 each for representing our flag in the global sporting arena. Each peso that these athletes received hopefully compensates for every hard work that competing for the honor of our country had cost them.

Still, there is always so much more than what meets the eye. The medals that the athletes earned are neither just mere tokens of excellence, nor symbols of strength and superiority. These medals are reminders of a fruitful battle fought not only for oneself but for a whole nation. These serve as reminders of great feats – milestones reached through dedication and perseverance. These serve as a start of another journey, only to be victorious again if more support comes in which may be through enhanced and strengthened sports programs.

After all, the only way to move forward is to improve what was. Imagine an empowered, stronger, and determined Filipino fleet in Paris 2024 - another journey for glory!

♡ you must've pulled a little too hard because your foreheads touched from the impact right as your eyes met... and you were about to lose yourself in his beautiful red irises before he suddenly lurched himself away from you and snarled at you, his eyes turning red hot once again.

♡ "don't touch me" he snarled, a look of pure heartbreak written across his features. You felt your heart nearly shatter. He tried to walk away again, but you once again grabbed ahold of his arm

♡ "y/n, don't do this," his voice was suddenly pleading, though he refused to look at you, his tone wasn't the demonic rage-filled one anymore. Instead it was... pained and soft.

♡ "Tom, please, I screwed up, I didn't mean to say Marco," you bit your lip so hard you could almost taste blood. Tom pulled away from you once again, only this time, he stayed. Finally casting his gaze towards you, you saw the faint tear streaks on his cheeks and the angry fire still flashing through his eyes.

♡ "explain" he demanded.

♡ shivering slightly from the chilled rain, you took a deep breath and attempted to think before you spoke. But that's overrated, so you just let your drunk self take the reins for a bit.

♡ "when I said you, I meant YOU, Tom"

♡ his eyes went wide

♡ you continued before he could interrupt, "it was and always will be you Tom. I've been in love with you for so long that I've lost track of the days. I've wanted to be with you so badly and tell you how I feel but I've held it in because I was afraid you didn't love me back, that you still loved Star. But...

♡ "I love you, Tom"

♡ at that very moment, he completely melted inside. Because little did you know, he too had been in love with you for so long, and in even more love with you than he could ever have imagined being with Star. You were everything to him, and he never wanted anyone else to have you. Which was why he was so pissed when he heard what you said. His eyes softened as he watched you stutter in the rain, shivering slightly. He must have forgotten to say something because your anxious self kept talking

♡ "I take your silence as a no... I completely understand if you're totally in love with someone else, especially Star, I know I'm weird an-"

♡ "I love you too."

♡ now it was your turn to freeze. Staring at him, it seemed that you were basically frozen in place as he shrugged off his jacket and stepped closer to you, wrapping it around your shoulders and letting his hands linger on your arms a little longer than necessary

♡ you couldn't look away from his eyes, your heartbeat racing and the butterflies screaming as he smiled softly down at you. You managed to grip onto the sleeves of his jacket and wrapped it tighter around you as you finally broke the anticipating silence

♡ "w-wait, what?"

♡ he playfully rolled his three eyes, and smirked down at you, the fire in his eyes dancing. He took another step closer to you, closing the distance greatly to the point where your noses were only inches apart.

♡ you could feel his warmth radiating off of him as your knees went weak. Almost stumbling, he snaked one arm around your waist and kept the other up by your neck to help you stay upright. A smirk floated across his lips as he chuckled at the starstruck state he had you in.

♡ "do you need me to show you what I mean?" He whispered against your lips.

♡ you were internally gasping for breath from the air you had been unknowingly holding in. Finally exhaling, you felt your eyelids go heavy as you subconsciously nodded.

♡ with the rain pounding down on the ground and your bodies, you watched through half lidded eyes as Tom slowly leaned in closer... and closer...

♡ until his lips locked onto yours

♡ and omg the sparks between you two could've killed a power grid

♡ like damn

♡ the sign standing a few feet away from you two burst into flames from you-know-who😉😉

♡ but let's just say that it was the most amazing kiss in the rain that you had ever had. And there are many more to come with Tom, I'll just tell you that😂

♡ but you had finally gotten Tom!
