Creation of the Pan Flag

Copied (with grammar/spelling mistakes) from my twitter thread about it for posterity.

I was going to do this for Pride weekend but you know, life, so: I wanted to talk about a thing. I created the #pansexual flag, a thread.

Back in 2010, I was 20 and tumblr was my main social playground. I was active in various spheres, and I was learning.

I'd been IDing as bi since I was 13, but moved away from bi as an identifier and took up pansexual soon after discovering the term, bc I felt it fit better.

This is mainly bc the simplicity of pan being defined as attraction to any/all genders was extremely appealing to someone really coming into this new way of expressing their orientation like tumblr allowed. It felt right for how I wanted to relate to and express my orientation.

The bi communities I had access too often saw heavy discussion related to attraction parametres of "bi" - convos at the time I didn't really recognise for what they were: bi people working hard to define bisexuality on their terms, tackling intra-community transphobia, (cont)

(cont) and developing within a social space where more expansive gender experiences and identities were becomes more well known and understood.

My switch of labels was about finding something that felt truly right for me, but it would be dishonest to pretend the decision wasn't impacted by the politics and "discourse" I was involved in at the time.

There was no popular pan flag, and the offerings were frankly... ugly. To me. Various shades of purple, P letters, P symbols incorporating gender symbols, infinity symbols. They didn't feel consistent with the other pride flags.

So on a whim, I decided to design one. I designed it to be pretty, honestly. That was a primary function of it, to have s/t I liked to represent my identity. No point pretending I was trying to be super innovative and deep: I wanted something pretty to plaster on my blog.

Pink, yellow, blue. A strong magenta, a strong gold yellow, and a light cerulean. The pink not too purple, the yellow not too bright, the blue not too cyan. Hex FF1B8D, FFD900, 1BB2FF.

Pink and blue, because of their gendered traditions, and yellow, a generally non-gendered colour, to represent nonbinary folks etc.

I created it anonymously, on a side blog away from my main handle. I was already running LGBTLaughs which was proving very popular in tumblr and didn't want to monopolise queer blog space, I suppose.

I didn't expect it to take off. It proved popular on tumblr, and for a few years the flag kept getting added to the Wikipedia 'pansexual' page and then removed. Eventually it snowballed and ended up in use well beyond tumblr.

As I've got older I've realised a lot of people would be interested in knowing this part of modern queer history, and more about modern flag creation in general, and that it's worth documenting. Not for credit so much as for posterity.

So, that's that. The first time I saw a pansexual flag in real life at my city's Pride parade I may have had a little cry.

YESSS!! the whole immaturity thing is so trueee. i dated this 38 year old when i was like 18/19, and in every argument he had to bring up the fact that i’m younger than him. i remember once this woman was flirting with him and i got angry and he said that she was an old friend and that ‘I don’t understand because i’m too young’ like what??😭 then why are you with me if i’m too young wtf. and there r so many instances where i just didn’t know if it his behaviour was normal but then he’d say that i’m inexperienced and should just trust him and what not. (he wanted me to move in with him 5 months into dating so he’d have “easier access” to me😭😭). PLUS HE HAD 3 KIDS LIKE WTH AM I GONNA DO TAKE CARE OF THEM??? he definitely clung onto the fact i have daddy issues bc he would use that against me so many times 💀💀

i met him when i worked as a barista, i was freshly 18 as well. like seriously there were so many red flags i ignored, idk why😭 he was love bombing the fuck out of me, and then when we’d have a argument he’d use that against me and say “i did all of this for you and this how you repay me, thank you so much” THIS MANIPULATION AT ITS FINESTTT. and i would feel so bad as well 💀

I feel lowkey bad for all the teenage girls out there who went through the canon event of dating a 40 year old manchild. No, 'cause Boomer is probably so defensive about it. Cold would rather die than admit he cares, but he saw how Speedster can and will fuck you up, so whenever the two r just chilling around him, he gets full-on nitpicky.

Because of Flash's speed healing, I honestly doubt he has a lot of scars, especially from Digger, but the other way around? It's never anything too dangerous, usually a smaller cut that healed badly in the prison or something alike, but he has more than many scars from our fav Speedster. It's nothing that's too noticeable usually and his biggest harm was breaking his nose once or twice, which with how many times it was broken already makes it less than worth noting...

...for anyone, but Leonard Snart himself and his picky nature. Does he intend to make Flash feel bad with his snarky comments? Not exactly, but he's happy with it, even if they won't break up. Golden Glider absolutely adores it and tries her best to comfort Digger by saying "It's just in his big brother nature", but she's also not sure about what Flash wants from this relationship.

I wrote before that the JLA would need some time to understand that Digger is dating him without a second reason, but the Rouges? Some of them would eventually accept that Captain Boomerang and The Flash are dating just because they like each other and no-one is planning on changing their sides, even if Boomer is already on the grey-ish spectrum (tho most Rouges enjoy being on the grey-ish spectrum), some of them would never understand.

Trickster, for one, adores the fact that he can now hang out with the Flasher and just fool around! He's pretty fond of it and Boomer looks 100 times happier than before, so he's okay with it as long as it won't mess up anything.

Mirror Motherfucker- I mean, Master likes that he can annoy Barry more, but his fun is usually cut short because if there's one thing this man can do, it's running. The second Boomer is ready for their date or just happy to get somewhere else, he disappears. Him and Mirror boy ain't becoming besties any time soon, sadly. Lisa, who adores M&M(s), is a little sad because of it.

I feel like Captain Cold could warm up to the idea- (haha, get it?) but over all, he would not be a fan. You can see your totally-not-friend get his ass handed by a guy this many times before not trusting him with said totally-not-friend.

Weather Wizard would take a hot moment to warm up to the Speedster, but in the end, he'd be happy for the two (CC: Et tu, Mark?). He is the one and probably only Rouge that is willing to listen to Digger's rants about speedy. He's not trusting Barry per se, but he's not unhappy about the two together - even if there's no gain for him in it.

Golden Glider, a sour sweetheart she is, acts way more happily about it than she is - if she'll learn that Mark gets the juicy info from Digi, she's silently seething. Might be a little too much like her brother sometimes...

Heatwave, gods bless him, is slightly bitter about the fact that the Suicide Squad knows before them. Like, what do you mean people that kidnapped you know before us, your friend- he means, coworkers! He sulks a little, but as he's pretty happy for Digger, he is not as happy for Flash.

hello, tarot red here. i find funny that everyone says poor T when i find him a little bit annoying when i read him lmaooo. like his almost in his 30s and he’s so avoidant and immature at least to me. he runs away from things. like i understand R if she doesn’t want to be involved with him bc from what i’ve seen on the readings she thinks he is a red flag, she’s just following her intuition (might be right? who knows).

R feels normal for her age, she’s 22. she has a lot of things to learn and she seems to be dramatic, yes, but i also think she’s very smart (at least emotionally). she has been hurt a lot in the past and has always felt rejected by other people, like they think she’s too much. so she feels real bad and self conscious about it. i think some of you see her as immature or intense bc she isn’t doing what you want her to do. she’s in love with that other man (sadly, he sucks) and she’s doing everything to keep that relationship. i think she’s the type of person that dates to marry, very serious and doesn’t give her energy and time to everyone. while T seems a little bit hoeish. so that’s a red flag. i don’t think he wants serious commitment for now. and she does. so they don’t want the same. that’s why for now i don’t see something going on or happening between them. they don’t have the same goals at all, besides career i think.

this is what i’ve seen while doing readings. i think R seems to be a serious person when she’s in love and T doesn’t seem to be like that, he gives his energy to everyone. so yeah. remember to take everything with a grain of salt lol <3

I have to disagree with you on her maturity. I think she’s very mature except for when it comes to relationships. She was the smartest on the cast imo during interviews and I loved her analysis on Lucy Gray/THG. And she is very intense lol. It has nothing to do with her immaturity though. She’s just a theater kid and is very passionate which can be scary and a major turn off to people. Not saying to be mean or cruel but it’s true. I also think that’s why J tunes her out sometimes.

T does have flirty energy but I genuinely think he’s nice to everyone. If he was more a hoe, he could have went after Ashley L but *shrugs*

Random Discourse about Sakura and women:

Anime community especially MEN is wack pls I’m begging y’all just say u hate women and MOVE ON it’s getting EMBARRASSING how blatant misogyny is showing or just watch the BARBIE 2023 movie (aka feminism/the patriarchy broken down in the simplest terms possible) 🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️‼️‼️

I’m an adult woman and have broken down my internalized misogyny that plagued me as a child in the anime community aka I got over the whole “Sakura is useless” thing which was lowkey funny 10 years ago but is NOW very much giving off hating women vibes.

Like as an adult I can wholeheartedly say that I do not expect men to be able to write female characters properly. Hence as a baseline all female characters r automatically considered “cool” until they prove otherwise bc ik for a fact that their faults r due to the author. Especially in anime where we’ve seen over and over again how female characters lack where their male counterparts prosper. (I’m an anthropology student and I very much want to write a dissertation on sexual repression/misogyny in Japanese culture bc I recently visited and YIKES but that’s irrelevant rn lol).

It’s very much disappointed but not surprised and I will say that in the Shounen category it’s gotten a lot better (such as chainsaw man✨chefs kiss✨ or JJK) where female characters are just like the protagonist aka normal ppl without the whole tsundere archetype that’s automatically assigned to female characters (I cannot help but think that archetype was created by men’s lack of comprehension of women eventually turning into comedic violence. Which in a meta viewpoint means that women have to be physically strong/inhibit violence in order to be a “strong” character/stand beside their male counterpart. Which is just untrue and annoying god I hate that archetype). There’s definitely been an improvement of women just being goofy and unhinged and I love that (once again Power), and I can’t help but think that Naruto was probably a big influence in that.

Say what u will about the series but Naruto was definitely a pioneer/classic archetypes for modern shounen. My babygirl Sasuke is the OG angsty-dark haired boy in a trio ft the MC and main girl, the traumatized aloof teacher, tournament arcs, etc. Part of that influence is also learning from the mistakes of the series, specifically the most prominent female character aka learning to write women from Kishimoto’s mistakes.

Idk I feel like it’s just so hard to be a woman and watch anime only bc the female characters are so lacking most of the time. Once again there have been improvements but it feels like we’re doing a “congrats u’ve done the bare minimum” or there’s themes of feminism/foreshadowing development but that’s basically dropped. For example: BNHA all the girls in 1-A have the exact same personality (minus Jirou). They’re all cheerful, bubbly, nice and it’s not bad it’s just fucking BORING like it would’ve been a lot more entertaining to have a somewhat female Bakugo or even Mirko-like personality in the class. Or ooooh give me a misunderstood MEAN GIRL (Ao No Flag QUEEN MAMI I LOVE HER SO MUCH‼️😩😩). In BNHA in the beginning there was definitely the theme of treatment of female heroes that was gonna be set up but dropped. Ex: Momo being sexualized (another discourse), Bakugo vs Uraraka and how Bakugo was being booed for not holding back on a girl, etc….

“Sakura is useless” = “blank is a better love story than Twilight” in my head….truly just say u hate teenage girls/ANY activity girls enjoy (I will never forgive ppl for making fun of girls for buying hydro flasks) and move on the conversation is tiring and BORING. Aka I love Twilight UNIRONICALLY and ironically like 7th grade me was a die hard STAN and I love that about myself which made living thru the active 2012 twilight era painful. Even my king Robert Pattinson said hating twilight isn’t cool anymore 🫡🫡🫡

Flashfoward I think I’m more than qualified to say that to ME Sakura is just okay. I will argue there’s only 4 well written female characters in Naruto (TSUNADE, KONAN, Karin and Kushina). Like even if I wasn’t a diehard SNS shipper I feel like overall she’s just aight, once again I’m kinda just neutral on her bc she’s just kinda there up until that ridiculous war arc that I semi refuse to believe exists. I have OPINIONS on the whole “new age Sannin/Team 7 dynamic” that everyone loves but feels like lazy writing.

Not saying anything to fanfic writers or Sakura Stans bc y’all do u, but I feel like it says a lot in a sad way how Sakura is shipped with every single male character in the series or how in fanfic she’s given Mokutan or part of a clan (which admittedly is very fun to think about). I can’t help but feel that she’s such a blank slate that u really CAN ship her with every character and it would somehow work. For example: could you do that to someone like Sasuke? I mean if ur a talented enough writer than SLAY but for the most part Sasuke has such a defined personality and VALUES that it’s HARD. Or Sakura is born into a clan and given a cool jutsu (which kinda disregards the point of her character: being one of the only Civilian born kids/normal person in her whole class thrown into the terrible and cruel world of Naruto and having to actually work to even SURVIVE not to mention trying to “catch up” to an Uchiha and the 9 tails). Once again fanfic writers you do you I’ll eat that shit up no cap LOL

hi, I'm a trans feminist and I've been saddened by the lack of feminism in many of my communities. I'm wanting to follow more feminists on here but honestly it's a bit terrifying because so many people claiming to be feminists or trans inclusive are not remotely so and will throw you under the bus in the blink of an eye, if not slowly spread insidious essentialist ideas about gender that hurt everyone but especially those like me.

as a former terf (from your bio) I was wondering if you have any signs, green or red flags, for people and bloggers in particular, regarding radical feminism that may indicate some form of more subtle terf-y beliefs so I can keep an eye out from them, as typically I stay far away from terf spaces for the obvious reason that they hate me, but I've noticed there's some mixing in more rad fem spaces that can be very hard to disentangle, but I don't want that to stop me from engaging with feminism for again, obvious reasons.

also if you have any trans feminist or trans friendly feminist bloggers you'd recommend, especially transfeminine ones, that would be really cool too.

hi! not gonna lie its difficult out here 😭 you're dead on that most ppl claiming to be trans-inclusive or feminists are not remotely. i follow people and then have to unfollow when they post or like something strange still ...

i would say chiefly, follow your instincts. as a trans person, especially if you're tma, if you're getting bad vibes you are probably correct. if you're not in a space to deal with bigotry then don't worry about giving the benefit of the doubt, avoiding feminism online won't revoke your feminist card but i know looking at feminism online can also be very healing when dealing with misogyny uh Everywhere so i'll give some other tips.

- the classic "look up trans on their blog before you follow." depending on what type of blog they are, it can be kind of suspicious if they never mention trans people. and then you can very easily weed out the obvious transphobes with this too.

- i would say some red flags are using the adjective "natal" (as in natal women), referring to cis women's oppression as sex-based while trans women's as. Not sex-based, and buying into "trans women are male socialized" rhetoric. this may seem kind of obvious but even if a person doing this identifies as a tirf they're revealing a clear lack in understanding of what transmisogyny is and how trans women exist in the world. this is often how people think before fully deradicalizing, but a lot of people also just begin here or never leave this mindset.

- avoid guys who talk about transandrophobia 🥶🥶 this is a specific thing bc speaking about transmasc issues in itself is obvi good and not bad but sooo many transmascs will try to pose their issues in opposition to transfems and try to do a "well but does transmisogyny exist really because i am Also tma" thing. usually these guys are gonna come out with some real fucked up talking points about trans women because they think they're oppressed by them 🙃 the term "transandrophobia" has kinda been overrun with people like that from what ive seen but ppl can use "anti-transmasculinity" and still mean the same things yk. you have to use your judgement a bit but once you're familiar with them it's easy to spot them out

- this is less of a tip and just a heads up but even blogs who themselves r trans inclusive or profess to be, or are run by a trans person, can still rb terf blogs, i probably have sometime as well though i try to avoid it and i'm not saying you have to avoid that but it's just a common thing, so if that bothers you you should look for a page that's more in the trans community or another community

- honestly the radfem tag is a cesspool and even the tirf tag can be Questionable 😔 it's going to behoove you most probably to just look for transfeminist and other sorts of patriarchy-averse individuals lmao. i looked at the transfeminism tag for the first time today (don't know why I hadn't sooner actually) and it's good! there's some stray weird posts but definitely better than the rf tag on here 💀

i would rly just recommend you check out some blogs, follow them if you think they're neat, and unfollow if you want to later on. that's generally what i do and i've followed some cool people on here from it :]

i don't have as many recommendations as i would Like to give but that's not to say there isn't transfeminists out there. they're just in their own circles. don't feel like u need to settle for terfy tirfs or antifeminists because you can find ppl you feel kinship with!!!

- i really like @taliabhattwrites ! she has a substack where she gives good insight on feminist issues, not only transmisogyny but lesbian issues as well. she also writes EPIC fiction about lesbians and trans women 🙏🙏 has taught me a lot over the years

- shey're not active rn, but i've really liked looking through @transmisogyny-explained 's blog. very informative and good to either unpack transmisogyny in yourself or perhaps help others do so.

- @leftismsideblog mostly talks about youthlib, but when she does talk about gender, they r Correct lol

- if u have a twitter, this is a must-- FOLLOW BLOOMFILTERS. they are so incredibly kind and smart and the mixing of that compassion and intelligence in a person is just bound to make Good Takes. she is an icon

my toxic trait is sometimes i will see a blog with “a study in womanhood/soft femininity” in their pinned and go “red flag” bc there is no one way to be any gender or anything inherent about any gender, thats bioessentialism babes

like i want to let ppl explore their gender feelings but also. idk. the burden of gendered expectations is not just a “woman” thing. n its especially not just a soft feminine cis white woman thing. n like. trauma n danger, is also, not gendered.

there are so-called gendered titles/roles that ARE burdens that are beautiful to study. mother, wife, daughter. but tbh u dont have to be a woman to be any of these things.

if ur studying gendered expectations, the roles n clothes we fill n choose to fill in bodies that often fit and feel strange n sometimes ugly even when we claim them though they look like no one else’s, the safety n dangers n compromises we seek to find and often r just forced to live in as we walk the streets at night, as we look into the mirror before n after we shower, as we stare at potential lovers fully done up, as we undress and wash the morning after, as we learn to wear our own aching flesh like its its own armor in and of itself, our mind, our identities our only sword to strike thru the noise of magazines and other people’s staring. say that. but thats not a woman thing, thats a person thing.

you are not strong or innocent or weak or anything inherently because of the way you were born, and any “gendered” struggle u hv is part of being human. its not some divine feminine speaking to u from a witch. u dont hv female hysteria. ur just a person, lol.

if ur blog is abt the specifics of misogyny, say that

n even if ur blog is abt “the struggle to be taken seriously as a woman” “the struggle to do what i want as a woman” i am telling u with certainty people of other marginalizations also have this same struggle, n it is more poetic n meaningful to talk abt the specifics of your character’s humanity and dignity than go “WOMANHOOD” in this broad stroke

what is a man? what is a woman? a featherless biped? i hold up a roasted chicken. was it a hen or a rooster. if i roasted it with basil and rosemary—does that make it a woman? if i cooked it without so much as salt or pepper, does that make it a man, a tasteless, useless man?

as many ttpd thoughts as i can coherently write down

first of all grateful for the folklore x midnights x 1989/rep sound we have going on here. i hate comparing artists but seriously the best way i can explain it is phoebe bridgers this album sounds like phoebe bridgers. not like it's a bad thing it's phoebe fucking bridgers!!!

i feel like it's so easy to call music "intimate," whether because of lyrics that feel personal or just a certain raw sound, or whatever else, but this album truly is the most intimate thing i think taylor's ever given us. i don't know what sets it apart, cuz at this point she's written plenty of deeply personal lyrics, but the way i best know how to describe it is that it truly feels like she trusts us.

anyway i'm willing to admit that this album isn't a spectacle or a revolution or game changer, and i know it won't satisfy everyone (ngl i'm scared to see what everyone else is saying bc they'll never understand Like I Do) but damn it sometimes that much is more than enough. without further adieu

dudes i started watching trigun stampede and having seen like half of the og trigun I have many thoughts!!!

unfortunately i am Bad at articulating my thoughts so I will try to list a couple:

The animation feels like what the og show was supposed to feel, yknow??? like the crusty 90s animation was a huge reason I decided to tap out halfway through bc it feels like they wanted a lot of movement but due to budget or just technological limits they weren't able to and it just looked. not good sometimes. I'm not trying to bash the animation and I'm also not an animator so i have no real idea of what the original production was like or what limits they may or may not have had. However! Putting studio orange on the job was a fuckin stroke of genius bc they know their 3d. and what with the frenetic energy the show should have had, the freedom that 3d animation allows for camera movement and whatnot is what the story deserved. Vash's bugs-bunny style character movements look so much more convincing and energetic (listen i love the of ep 1 crab walk too it was delightfully animated but i think the 3d lets them fully encapsulate that scrambling, frantic energy he carries in action scenes). once again i am not an animator and i have not outlined this at all and I'm absolutely not trying to be some credited critic i am just a Guy.

Subpoint!! the depiction of violence/death/destruction works way better. Once again I'm not going to go after the animators for not having the time/budget/whatever to give the violence and death in the story the weight they should have had. However, it is way more convincing and striking and works better with the tone etc etc i put this in after writing the next two points and my root-beer-fueled sugar high is starting to fade rip

I do miss milly, shes a delight, but i think replacing her character with a more jaded and serious one was the right move for this remake. already the tone is diving into the darker themes of the story and having someone like roberto be the voice of reason between him and Meryl matches the tone of the show better than having the more lighthearted dynamic milly and Meryl had in the original. The original took f o r e v e r to touch on the darker themes of vash's backstory and the overall tone was absolutely more on the quirky, comedic side. This worked well for the dynamic-duo-insurance-girls thing but stampede changing both milly's character AND their careers works way better for what the show is going for. like. if meryl and Roberto were still insurance agents trying to keep a handle on vash, that comedic value would have been totally undermined and had to have been scrapped after episode 3. The tonal dissonace would have been too strong and would have totally killed the mood. Milly is still my girl tho i love her with all my being

I do prefer the slower worldbuilding of the original. I understand with the focus on vash's relationship with his brother instead of the story the original focused on means we need more context for his character and the world the characters live in. But i liked vash being a mystery to both the characters and the watchers! it felt cool to see this goofball of a dude just. let down the facade and make us want to wonder who this guy really is, yknow? but again! as i have said many times! stampede is focused on the darkness in vash's story and the world of trigun so it makes total sense that they introduce vash as a tragic character first! and i love it! i love me a good dark story and instead of the "silly dude with a dark backstory who changes tone at the drop of a hat" character the "guy who has seen some shit and still tries to do good and be kind and funny in spite of it" character just works better there.

Anyway as previously stated i am kind of flagging so ill stop there and I'm sure ill have more thoughts later because I just cant be normal about these things

I think both versions have their merits and drawbacks and I'm not trying to say one is objectively better than the other (even if I do prefer stampede bc I'm a hoe for good animation and dark storytelling) so please do not kill me

and another thing. i am tired of the whole hale twins / cullen siblings narrative. give me a story where yes, edward, alice and rosalie are the children of carlisle and esme and they bring home increasingly weird romantic partners. alice is their adopted daughter and she brings home this guy who used to drive around with a confederate flag on his car. rosalie brings home a science partner who carries around a bag of eggs. edward brings home the clumsiest girl in fucking existence who also drives an ugly ass truck. like just hear me out.

alice got adopted right before they moved to forks. she is now the younger sibling of edward and rosalie. the three of them r the new ones in school. emmett and jasper are both jocks but not on the same team, they both set out to try to recruit edward to be on their respective sports team. bella is not a jock but she is like. a teacher's assistant, she gets tasked with showing rosalie and alice around. rosalie can't stand her but alice likes her. emmett and jasper Know each other and they also both know bella in different ways; emmett likes bella she tutored him, bella on the other hand got injured in one of jasper's games before so they all loosely know each other. edward doesn't want to join either sports' team so he has to pick a different extracurricular while avoiding these 2 guys who won't leave him alone. meanwhile rosalie DOES want to join a sports team and she takes emmett's attention off of edward but this means jasper can bother him full time.

edward avoids him so much he doesn't pay attention to where he's going and he full on knocks bella down in a crowd of people and alice and rosalie ream him for it bc ofc they do. however bella uses this to force edward to join jasper's team because she's a spiteful little creature. alice in sibling solidarity is like :) and we'll be at EVERY game! and bella's like. this is not what i wanted this is not what i planned and i just gotta say i do not understand. meanwhile rosalie is officially on emmett's team but she gets annoyed with a lot of the other guys and challenges him for captain and he's like ok what did i do but he accepts the challenge. edward and bella are both miserable but alice and jasper are having fun with their thing and they start making fun of them Together behind their backs. edward straight up tells bella its her fault she has 2 be there and bella is like ok well is it my fault you suck so bad? no. fuck off AND ESSENTIALLY... rose and emmett rivals to lovers bella and edward mutual irritations to lovers jasper and alice mutual shit starters to lovers

I'm sorry if this comes out of nowhere, but I was thinking about r//nance, lol. So, like in canon for me, it was ooc for Robin to want to befriend the girl who broke her bffs heart so badly, bc why would she you know. So I keep thinking maybe Steve, who already blames himself, just doesn't really say negative things about Nancy, like he deserved this kinda treatment. I mean still I wouldn't want to be friends with that person who makes my bff feel that way, especially because I heard rumors about cheating and Nancy did move on pretty quickly, like not even a week so that would raise red flags. Anyway, if we all ignore this and Robin thinks of Nancy as this great amazing person who she wants to spend time together, wouldn't she then ask Nancy about Steve and their relationship?? And if so, wouldn't Nancy then have to admit to Robin how she used Steve as a placeholder? And if Robin finds the whole truth, wouldn't she want to stay far away from Nancy? Like it just wouldn't make any sense, realistically why Robin would want to be close to her after everything. It wouldn't matter if Steve would only say positive things about Nancy or reassure her the hurt he felt was only because of his mistakes. Robin is smart she would piece one and one together, Nancy hurt her best friend, and she wouldn't let this slide. This is why I hate this whole plotline about Robin kissing Nancy's ass in s4, I know the show doesn't acknowledge Nancy's mistakes in Stancy, but omg. Not everyone has to be best buddies, especially if there is history.

It was sooo ooc for Robin to act this way, like she should have been wary and maybe a bit cold to her. If Steve was my best friend, I would not whorship the ground his ex walks on. Robin seems like to have the same principles. In Rebel Robin, she hates it that Barb ditched her for Nancy, like idk how canon those books are but if it's true it's another thing why Robin should have been at least a bit bitchy.

The fandom and the show, but mostly the fandom, just wants everyone to be bffs, disregarding the major conflicts and mistakes. Like no realistically, Jonathan and Steve won't be friends, Jonathan is Nancy's boyfriend who knowingly cheated with her on Steve. Steve and Nancy can't be friends because of the messy breakup. Like every teen is like negatively linked to someone, which creates this clusterfuck. The only reason why the kids can all be friends is because they never cross-dated and genuinely like each other. The teens are only together in the group bc of trauma, not because they want to.

it’s totally cool! i love talking about this :) yeah it was quite weird especially cuz she had reservations before about nancy and now she changed it like at the flip of a hat - it’s so weird. yeah i think steve totally believes he was at fault for the relationship so i don’t see steve telling robin an unbiased version anytime soon of how he was the one at fault. yes about the hearing rumors! okay i find it odd how fandom has no problem judging what tommy says in season 2 and doesn’t realize the implications that the entire school knows something is going on with nancy and jonathan. also people were at a party when steve and nancy had their fight so i do not see anyway really trusting their judgement that something even happened between the two of them cuz everyone was drunk and not fully paying attention. all people know is that steve and nancy had a bickering over and steve left without nancy like i don’t think people would only come to the conclusion that they broke up. like there would be so many different rumors about this situation - none of them where nancy and jonathan come out to look like good people in the public’s eye so robin who already had reservations about nancy wouldn’t want to make friends with her after knowing that she possibly cheated or that she just didn’t care about steve. yeah robin kissing nancy’s ass makes no sense like why ‘she’s full of surprises isn’t she?’ like ngl that comment didn’t make sense to me cuz robin herself was never really surprised at nancy on screen about her guns or etc.

omg yeah robin would totally ask about it but ngl i kind of don’t see nancy even admitting that she was also at fault. like she already has no problem not admitting her mistakes in canon and she heard steve say that he was a shitty bf (which i don’t agree with) but i can hardly see nancy having to admit that steve was a place holder to his best friend of all people. also like i think it would be in character for nancy to not admit anything cuz she doesn’t think she did anything wrong.

yeah robin could have acted cold to her like i genuinely think she would have the same energy that she at first had with steve in the first place with nancy! like regardless if robin did feel comfortable now in her own skin - she wouldn’t just automatically trust nancy! or even enthusiastically try to make friends when she had reservations about nancy in the first place! SHE CALLS NANCY A PRISS! and like you said about the rebel robin - she has a bunch of reasons to not like nancy (although i don’t think the books are really canon but honestly i love robin being friends with barb and then being upset that nancy came along and took her from her)

fucking everything you said in the last paragraph!!! the fandom just wants all of the teens to be besties and it’s like that’s not even remotely canon or how the characters feel!!! it’s also not how any of the dynamics are in canon ! like idk what fandom’s obsession is with making everyone want to be canon bestie cuz it’s so much more interesting when they aren’t! cuz they aren’t in canon!!!! and yes everything you said about the party too! literally everything you said in that last paragraph is so perfect

i think what is the real problem w what u r saying here is that u r applying this solely to lesbians. why is it that u r specifically saying that lesbians must be abusive if they have an ex? why does ur reasoning not apply to heterosexual couples? i think u need to look inward and ask urself why u r so hypercritical of lesbians to the point where u believe that any reason they break up must be abusive. how is one person wanting a baby and the other not abusive? how is someone having suicidal thoughts and seeking help for that abuse in relation to u saying going to a ward is abusive? the fact that u equated someone bringing someone else to meet their bad family as munchausen by proxy is the most insane thing ive ever read. the fact of the matter is that ppl can break up bc they don’t have time to see each other anymore bc of different schedules, one is moving somewhere else, they lose the spark in their relationship, an external factor causes some sort of hardship to one or both of them so they don’t have time for a relationship, they find out the other person has a trait they don’t like, the relationship just isn’t working well, they want different things there’s a million reasons why a couple might break up that has nothing to do w abuse. and none of any of these things u have listed r exclusive to lesbians. and even if someone has one toxic relationship that involves a lot of arguing (not violence) this does not mean they r an inherently abusive person. ppl bring out different things in each other. quite honestly u r vastly downplaying the actual abuse that women often face usually at the hands of MEN in heterosexual relationships to try to say that lesbians must automatically be evil if they’ve gone thru a breakup. genuinely seek help for ur insane lesbophobia & disregard of actual abuse. AND get off tiktok w peace and love.

tarot red here. i did a reading about R and DJ connection.

okay, i think R and DJ have a good connection in general. like it looks good from the outside, but there are some underlying problems here. i think this connection benefits R in some ways. like she feels supported and i think DJ really supports her. she feels welcomed and appreciated. i think DJ receives the same support from R. but the age difference here can be a little bit weird since i feel that one can patronize the other (which i think it’s her) like that feeling of why are you doing that? that’s so annoying, but well what the other does its normal for their age.

i feel that they really trust each other and i think DJ has been there for R when she was going through a lot of hate, that in some way he’s her safety net. i also don’t think he’s that mature so it makes sense that they’re friends (lmaooo, no trying too be shady or something). he feels kinda immature here. i think in some ways here DJ helped R to feel more confident.

but there’s a down side here i can see her falling in what men say so easily. she ignores the red flags she sees or tries to forget it bc she will loose a lot of people she appreciates if she does. she falls in weird connections with men quite easily and attracts weird men in general. she might ignore her intuition when it comes to men. like she might feel some are unsettling, but not all of them. like she sees the men in her life as perfect and keeps being blindfolded so she ignores some weird things about them. i don’t think this connection it’s perfect by any means, there are some problems here bc the age difference maybe, but definitely there’s a real friendship here where they can support each other and a lot gratitude, they definitely supported each other through hard times. i see a lot of love but i don’t think it’s romantic. i don’t see them hanging out that much or being in contact that often which is upsetting to someone here bc they maybe were together very often. one person here can feel very possessive of the other and i don’t think that’s very normal (?). they are very similar, maybe have similar values or ideas but at the same time they differ in some things and this can create friction. i think DJ advice her and his advices are good and can help her to improve her finances and get more job opportunities. he might help her to feel fearless a little bit, like don’t doubt herself and increase her confidence. i have some opinions about DJ, but i prefer to not say something bc all is based on this reading and it’s too soon to say something.

that’s all i can see for now. i don’t know if this makes sense. but yeah.
