Nic let out a nervous laugh as she walked backwards away from the person she was desperate to get away from. Not only was it a dead end conversation but the guy had spent the last 5 minutes staring at her cleavage. Damn push-up bra. She never should’ve let Alison talk her into it.
“I’m gonna go get another drink. It was good talking to you,” she said with a faux smile. As she faced away from the man and was ready to make a beeline for the finger-foods, she immediately bumped into another body. The glass in her hand tipped over, spilling its contents all over their shirt. She swore under her breath, fumbling to set the glass down and grab a napkin from a nearby table. “Oh my god, I’m so sorry.” She started to wipe the wet spot on the shirt. “I should’ve been looking–”
“Nic?” Asked a familiar voice, and when she looked up she felt a heat rising up her neck. Her ears were already burning as she could hear her heartbeat in her ears.
“Gary, oh my god. I’m sorry. I wasn’t looking,” she rambled. “It’s just water, though.”
“It’s no big deal,” he told her nonchalantly, waving a hand. “It won’t stain. Good thing it’s not wine!”
Nic laughed nervously, this time out of embarrassment. “Yeah, it’s actually harder to get wine stains out of clothes than blood.” Gary looked at her confused, and she mentally kicked herself. “I mean with our line of work we should be used to blood on occasion. Plus I’ve been a female my whole life so…” She cleared her throat awkwardly and realized she was still wiping his shirt. Quickly she snatched the napkin close to her chest and looked away, hoping for an out. Socializing was not her strong suit. She wracked her brain trying to remember all the tips her therapist helped her with for social skills.
“You look really nice, by the way!” Gary told her. “I’ve never seen you in a dress before.”
“Oh thanks.” She smiled bashfully. “I don’t like dresses so I don’t usually wear them. This one’s too long though.”
“Why’d you wear it then?”
Nic gave him a sly grin and reached a hand down to slowly pull the skirt of her dress up to reveal her footwear.
“Are those converse?” Gary asked.
She nodded and let go of the fabric, the skirt hiding her shoes. “Yep.”
“But I thought the invitation said to dress formal, meaning dress shoes.”
“Converse are dress shoes!” She insisted.
“If you say so.” He grinned. “How about I go get you another drink?”
“You don’t have to since I’m the one who spilt it on you.”
“It’s no biggie,” he told her. “Besides, we can keep talking and do a little strategizing for tomorrow’s game.” Nic had completely forgotten they had a D&D session tomorrow night. “We’re still trying to find that Beholder but I know we’re close.” He picked up the empty glass. Gary leaned in a little and lowered his voice. “And I shouldn’t be telling you this, but Razesayer is gonna use his portion of the bounty to take Xena on a date,” he informed her excitedly, referring to the romance between their characters in the game. He winked before walking off to get her another glass.
As soon as he was facing away, Nic took a deep breath and gently fanned herself with the napkin. She prayed to the D&D gods that he couldn’t tell she was blushing. Her mind played out the session that hadn’t even happened yet and whether or not they’d even get the opportunity to play out the date. They’d probably have to wait another week depending on what happened. But she felt butterflies in her stomach, and a part of her heart tugged as she yearned for it to be an actual date between her and Gary.
They had been seated at separate tables, but that didn’t stop Nic from sneaking glances at him throughout dinner. She was much more interested in Gary wearing a bow tie than she was about whatever work gossip her colleagues at the same table were talking about. She absentmindedly ate through her entire meal, barely noticing when she was finished or when people started to gather for the couple’s dance. It wasn’t until she saw him stand that Nic was snapped from her trance. Quickly she stood up and followed everyone to watch the first dance.
And soon the DJ was playing an assortment of songs. Other couples had made their way to the dance floor, but Nic hung in the back. She wasn’t a dancer, and one of the few people who came without a date. She felt a little pathetic by that fact. The invitation gave her a plus one but she didn’t use it. Who could she possibly use it on?
“Having fun?” Gary asked, randomly appearing beside her.
Nic nearly jumped out of her skin. When did he get here?
“Uh, I guess,” she shrugged. “Why aren’t you dancing with your date?”
“Because I don’t have one…”
“Oh. Well, neither do I,” Nic told him.
There was a moment of silence between them, and Nic continued to watch couples dance. That was before Gary obstructed her vision by standing in front of her, hand out.
“Why don’t we join them?” He suggested. “It only has to be one dance. But I will warn you; I have two left feet.”
She snorted in amusement and placed her hand in his. “You can’t be any worse than I am, trust me.”
He led her to the dance floor as songs began to change, and her heart skipped a beat as a slow love song began to play. And why did it have to be one that she knows?
A chill ran up her body when she felt Gary put his hands on her waist. Her mind stopped working mid thought and she nearly froze altogether if it weren’t for some internal instinct to place her hands on his chest. Letting out a deep breath, she melted into the music as they slowly danced. But she wasn’t listening at all as Gary rambled.
“A picnic,” she interrupted.
“I’m sorry?”
She took a deep breath and looked up at him. “I shouldn’t be telling you either, but… if Razesayer wants the date to be special then he should take her on a picnic. Preferably at the meadow the party passed on their way out of town. It’ll remind her of home— sorry.” She mumbled the last part as she accidentally stepped on his foot.
“Aww! That’s so romantic!” He cooed.
“Just figured Raze could use the tip.” She held back a wince as he stepped on her foot, but admittedly it wasn’t as painful as if she wore flats.
“You’re not as bad at dancing as you said,” Gary told her.
“Just following your lead.” She smiled. “You’re pretty good yourself.”
“Thank you! My mom made me learn for my bar mitzvah. I might have forgotten some steps,” he admitted as he stepped on her foot again.
“At least you’re still on your feet.” Nic nodded in the direction of some coworkers who were obviously drunk and wavering on their feet.
The song ended and there was a pause between song changes. Nic playfully curtsied.
“Thank you for the dance, Razesayer.”
Gary bowed in response. “It was my honor, Lady Xena.”
The reception was coming to a close and it was announced the bride was about to do the bouquet toss. Most of the single women gathered on the now abandoned dance floor. Nic stayed in the back, not confident of her ability to catch the bouquet, but figuring if the bride overshot and it fell behind them, Nic could get to it quickly. But oh how she underestimated the bride’s ability to overshoot.
The bouquet of flowers arced high over the group’s head. Their eyes all followed it as it flew past them. It impacted someone in the crowd, and everyone watched as the bouquet fell into the unsuspecting arms of Gary. The hit caused his glasses to become askew and left him dazed for a moment before he looked at the flowers in his hands.
“I caught the bouquet!” He said excitedly, holding it up.
The crowd groaned in annoyance and the women disappointedly dispersed from the dance floor. Nic shook her head in amusement and walked back over to where she left her drink. The bride and groom were starting to make their rounds, thanking people for attending and saying their goodbyes. She downed the rest of her water and was prepared to call an Uber when she felt a tap on her shoulder. Jumping in surprise, Nic faced the person and was met with a bouquet of flowers in her face. But not just any bouquet; it was the bouquet Gary caught.
“I saw you were in the group trying to catch it and I thought you might like them,” he told her nervously.
“Oh.” She gingerly took it from him and held the flowers. “Thank you, Gary. I wasn’t really trying to catch it but… thanks.”
“And the flowers are all okay. My glasses softened the hit.”
“Are your glasses okay?” She asked, reaching up to fix them so they sat properly on his face.
“They’re not broken so I’d say they are.” He paused. “They’re not broken right?”
She snorted in amusement. “They don’t look it.”
“Oh good.” His shoulders relaxed in relief. “These are the only pair I’ve got.”
“Mine too,” she said before they fell into an awkward silence. “Well, I guess I’ll see you at work tomorrow.”
“And D&D,” he reminded her.
“And D&D.” She waved her phone. “I’m gonna go call an Uber so… I’ll see ya.” Nic finger-gunned awkwardly before walking away.
As she quickly made her way out of the reception hall, she mentally scolded herself. She swore under her breath. Are you kidding, Nicole?! You finger-gunned away? What a weirdo!
Sighing frustratedly, she started to call for an Uber and hoped sometime between then and tomorrow the earth would swallow her and save her from having to face Gary at work.

You know what's interesting, every season in stranger things, everything happens in the span of like 3-5 days. We start off good, shit hits the fan midway, and then a quick wrap up at the end.
I would like for there to be other normal moments like in other shows where we get to see them have more interactions that doesn't involve being stressed tf out, where we see their families, and how they treat each other. Where we see them go out, and actually hang out without any drama.
Like I want to see El trying different meals, and learning different words, and playing board games with Hopper and the kids, etc. I want to see her and Mike actually go out on dates, want to see her friendship develop more with the boys, make actual conversation that doesn't involve anything to do with whatever danger pops up. I want to see it, not just see her suffer, and be at the brink of an aneurysm with the constant nose bleeds. Let my girl be normal, like I think the only time we see her actually going out, and happy was with Max at their shopping spree, and the snowball dance. Let me see more Damnit.
I want to see Hop working, and counting down the hours until he goes home, his interaction with Flo is so cute. I want to see him talking to Joyce that doesnt include any conversation about the government, and whatever else. I just want them to be happy for fucking once, and chill. Want to see the hopper family going to eat with the Byers family.
I want to see Will draw, and hang out with his family, have more cute moments with Jonathan. I want to see how he copes with everything, how he distracts himself. I want to see his friendship with Lucas and Dustin more, and I want to see him interact with El, and Max more, like actually talk talk. Let my boy play Dungeons and Dragons, fuck. He got hit with something so traumatic, went through it TWICE. If I were him I'd feel like my innocence, my childhood got wiped out, and I would've clung on to whatever made me feel normal, and young before everything as well.
I want to see Nancy, and Mike actually hang out as sibilings, and joke around, bickering like sibilings do. I want to see how she developed her love for journalism, want to see her ambitions go through, want to see her dates with Jonathan, her relationship with Steve afterwards. (I'm a big Jancy and Stancy fan, but my OTP when it comes down to it, between them, is all of them together because it just fits, for me.)
I want to see Steve actually interacting with the kids besides what we see on the show, like the mother hen personality developing more. I want to see how his reputation had dimmed down more outside, how he realized that it wasn't the same after the first season. I want to see Robin's interaction with the other kids, want to see her hang out with them as the cool aunt because let's be honest if Steve is the mom, Robin would be the cool aunt.
I want to see Max and her mom's connection, want to see her life behind the curtains where she actually has good moments, want to see the group hangout watching her skateboard, and fuck, I would love to see Max teach El how to skate. I want to see more of Lucas, and Max. Want to see them go out on dates, want to see all the break ups they had lol.
I'm dying for more sibiling content between Lucas, and Erica. DYING FOR IT. I want to see the small moments, the sweet ones, the protective ones. I want to see him get hit with the realization that his little sister is a hidden nerd, want to see him get shocked when he sees her in action.
I want to see Dustin doing little experiments, want to know more about his family. I want to see him and Suzie interact more, and have cute little moments. Actually I would love to have more scenes including their parents, more of a relationship, and more dialogue.
I want to see Jonathan doing photography again, want to see him go out just for the fuck of it to take pictures with no stress. I want to see more, you know?
Like for example in The Vampire Diaries, sure we have the drama and problems, but we also get to see more outside of it, and see them be friends outside of the danger that lurks, and that is only what is shown on TV.
I want more. That's why I love ST fanfiction, I get to "see" more of it, and it's so cute, however I'd like to actually see it on TV if you know what I mean.

I cannot find a list that has numbers past 40 otherwise so. Here we go.
For Nyenna, Teldryn and Athis from my fic, The World on Our Shoulders.

Also there's some snippets toward the end!
3. Do they wear the other’s clothes? (sweatshirt, bandana, necklace, etc.)
Nyenna is a very small bean by comparison. She can get away with stealing other's clothes. Athis is shorter, around 5'7-8 or so; his shirts fit her better. Teldryn has borrowed her cloak before.
5. Describe their cozy night in.
READING. Nyenna definitely wants to catch up on reading. She's definitely going through it in the place we're at in the WIP and if she had her way, she'd be home with Athis by the fire pit with cozy blankets reading. If we're talking future timeline, rest is still mildly hard to come by.
She and Teldryn might instead spend it at Orgnar's inn, listening to Sven make a fool of himself trying to be a bard and enjoying the company of their new neighbors. That's not really "a night in" but it kind of counts when your new hometown is as small as Riverwood.
10. Describe their first date.
Nyenna and Athis... <3 They were a bit of a whirlwind. They skipped steps. Back before the nonsense, he would often take her out to dinner at the Bannered Mare, even after they were married. They had a few camping dates where he'd bring along a stash of some homemade mead on the way to some dungeon or another while they were working. He isn't much of a storyteller, but Nyenna definitely was and she'd also sing to him in Bosmeris until he fell asleep while she was on first watch.
Nyenna and Teldryn did things glacially slow and in reverse order, lol. They didn't skip steps so much as do things completely backwards. They fell in love first. Then they...made mistakes. Then eventually they would have had a moment to spend with just each other and not the weight of destiny. Teldryn would have taken her to pretty places he'd found while he was wandering on his way home from one job or another. They love the Rift for picnics.
22. What reminds each of their partner?
At this point in the fic, Nyenna is still very much always turning her thoughts toward Athis. They're still married and she still wears her wedding ring. They still write to each other constantly and she does try to return home as often as she can.
Later on, after a few close calls, Teldryn has a dragonbone dagger each made for Nyenna and himself. This is before they admit any sort of love for each other. He thought it was symbolic, and also good back up if she ever ran out of magicka again. So you know, lethal weapons they hold on to for the rest of the fic. Suits, really. LOL
30. Your OTP gets to pick out each other's outfits; what is each wearing?
Nyenna has picked out Athis's outfits since they were dating. He has terrible fashion sense. Have you seen his summer armor? Ugh. A mess. She had him in blue clothes and the Companions got him some Ebony Plate mail for their wedding. Speaking of, she also picked out his wedding outfit. Athis would look for any excuse for Nyenna to wear that dress again, speaking of. It's featured in one of his best memories, and the little embroidered tundra cotton flowers suited her.
Teldryn always wears grey shirts when he's out of his armor. All his spare sets are gray, except his white shirts he wears as the first layer under the armor. Nyenna would insist on blue; it might be her favorite color, and it looks good on him. Teldryn has seen Nyenna dressed for a Thalmor party, but even then would still say she looks best in her grey and teal mage's robes.
39. Who would rescue an injured animal and nurse it back to health? What would the other think?
Nyenna absolutely would rescue animals. Neither Athis nor Teldryn would not have the heart to dissuade her, even if there was no time or safety for such things.
50. Who's more likely to do something out of spite?
Of the three, Teldryn. He's persisted this long out of spite, so it would track that he'd probably take on some activity or another and/or stick with it out of spite. He might not be spiteful necessarily, though. None of them really are.
51. What’s a non verbal way they say I love you?
There's a lot of this in the fic for everyone involved. I'll pick two and share mini snippets.
For Nyenna toward Athis, she'd run her fingers through his hair.
“Mornin’,” he said, voice still heavy with sleep. He yawned widely and sat up, rubbing his eyes. He got up out of bed and cracked the stiffness from his neck. She approached him and ran her fingers through his hair. He had no idea why she did this, always admiring something about him he thought so little about. It was charming. When he tried to return the favor, his fingers got tangled in the silvery curls, same as every day, really. She let out a surprised laugh and helped him untangle. He smiled and leaned down to kiss her. Her hands were warm against his face as she kissed him back gently.
For Teldryn toward Nyenna, he will always heal her first before himself as best as he can.
He held her close, Healing spells active in both hands.
“You’re okay?” he asked, worry written across all his features. She coughed weakly, but managed a nod.
“What on Nirn…?” she whispered hoarsely, wincing. Her hand flew to her neck. He pressed his gauntleted hand over hers and concentrated his spell there. Her shoulders slumped as the overwhelming pain slowly started to subside.
57. Whose the serious one when grocery shopping and who likes to toss random things in the cart?
LOL insofar as Tamriel has 'grocery' shopping...let's just call it a normal day at Belethor's shop. Nyenna is the responsible one and keeps household ledgers and has a list of needful things to retrieve. Athis and Teldryn are the "I'm not really saving up for anything" kind of people and would buy yet another cool knife if the opportunity presented itself.

Notes: Recently, my obsession with Builder x Unsuur has grown to fanatical heights, and the Knives Out update has only increased that obsession. No spoilers, but Unsuur is top tier when it comes to romance.

How quickly did/will they fall in love? - Hmm... Well, because of the mystery letters Liira received in her mailbox, it's safe to assume that Unsuur was the one who fell first, watching her from afar and marveling at her accomplishments until he finally decided to make his admiration known through letters. Their romance was a slow, steady burn, with Unsuur falling harder.
How was their first kiss? - Soft and chaste. They were sitting side by side, counting some of the rocks he collected, when suddenly, Unsuur leaned down a little and kissed her when she turned her head to face him.
Wedding:
Who proposed? - Unsuur. Liira was actually going to propose to him first, but he beat her to it.
Who is the best man/men? - Justice or Captain. Unsuur had difficulty choosing, so he made them both his best man. Justice showed up with Captain in his arms. Both were dressed to the nines, with the cat wearing an adorable bow tie and hat.
Who is the braid’s maid(s)? - Liira's best friend, Mi-an
Who did the most planning? - Both. Unsuur and Liira had a specific theme for their wedding that included warm palettes and rocks that Unsuur handpicked. Hell, even their wedding rings were made out of quartz.

Liira was nervous that the wedding wouldn’t be the “dream wedding” she always wanted and that Unsuur would realize that he had made a mistake and leave her at the altar. Of course, Unsuur had his wedding jitters, but Liira's was worst and would have spiraled if Trudy hadn't given her a much-needed pep talk.

Who is the stricter parent? - Liira and Unsuur are not strict parents, but they aren't lax in giving out punishments. However, Unsuur is the more laid-back parent, whereas Liira is quietly firm and instills a healthy amount of discipline in her child.

Lucky's First Love (cdrama, 2019) - final thoughts
A solid feel-good drama with a great OTP.
After being disapponted with another fluffy modern cdrama, Intense Love (review here), I hoped that Lucky's First Love would be better - and it didn't disappoint :).
The premise is that the ML, Xia Ke, is a CEO of a company that makes online dating games and the FL, Xing Yun (aka "Lucky"), is the first employee he hired. They've been working closely together for two years and they both live and breathe for the company. They are also often bickering with each other which is a lot of fun to watch.
When the ML appoints the FL to be in charge of the new dungeon project, he suggests to her that she should gain some dating experience to help her develop a better game. To his surprise, she takes him for his word and goes to a blind date that her cousin arranges for her. While she slowly discovers what being in a relationship means, Xia Ke realizes that pushing her into the arms of another was a huge mistake because the one who's supposed to be with Xing Yun is….him.
The dynamics is actually similar to What's Wrong With Secretary Kim, but Lucky's First Love is more juvenile. It does deliver the optimistic, good feels though: it doesn't have any huge misunderstandings or a break-up, the second and third leads are actually nice people and there is no-one who actively plots against the OTP.
Ok, there is an unfortunate crazy ex girlfriend trope in the last four episodes, but while she makes the leads uncomfortable, they trust each other and don't break up. It just sucks because it's an overdone stereotype and it took away screen time from the leads who only just got together. So the last episodes are rather weak, with badly written mild "crisis", but the leads get their HEA anyway, so I am not too mad. (just skip the crazy ex scenes and you're good)
The majority of the show is actually great and fun: I would say that eps 7 to 19 are the strongest. There is a lot of build up/slow burn, the leads only get officially together in ep 19 and the pay off is not as great as one would hope.
8/10 - This is a solid fluffy drama with good chemistry between the leads but it has some weaker plot moments towards the end.
