We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved bobcat, Tiger. The Animal Care staff noticed he was behaving abnormally so he was promptly taken to the vet. They found a massive internal tumor causing organ failure over the weekend. This amazing bobcat will be deeply missed.

Amado Odín, este dolor es tan grande que apenas puedo ver cuando escribo, ya que no puedo parar de llorarte. Mi parte humana aun no entiende, no comprende, por qué lo fugaz de tu partida. Siento que te fuiste demasiado pronto, y no me explicaste cómo iban a ser las cosas desde ahora. Aún no puedo aceptarlo. Ahora siento un vacío enorme, y también siento que una parte de mi se fue con vos.

Recuerdo cuando nos conocimos y me parece que fue ayer, la primera vez que me recosté encima tuyo cuando estabas con dolor echado. Ese cuerpo enorme y ese alma frágil. Cuando nos miramos por primera vez, profundamente, cuando te acompañaba mientras te curaban, entendí que ya nos habíamos cruzado en otro momento, seguramente en otros cuerpos, en otra de tantas metamorfosis de nuestras almas.

Este amor vivió en la quietud, en el reparo, en los silencios, en la respiración tuya surcando mis oídos, en algunos soles, atardeceres, en los grises, y tambien en las mañanas. Siempre me hice un momento, para ir a saludarte, aunque hubo veces que supe que querías estar solo y te deje, otras me quedé.

Ese rincón mágico lleno de verde, El rincón mágico de Odín (asi le puse yo), era tu lugar favorito y también el mío. Ahí la naturaleza y el sol hacían lo que querían, y vos lo sabías bien. Era hermoso pasar y verte disfrutar de esos recortes de luz, acariciando tu cuerpo, tus crines, tu cara, tu morro… y esas largas siestas.

Agradecí esos momentos, los abrazo y guardo, los atesoro por siempre.

Tan extenso es esto del amor, que lo comparto y comparti con otros que también te han amado, especialmente tu familia humana, Patri y More.

Hoy comprendo esa mariposa enorme, una muy grande y bella que se poso en mi ventana, nunca había tenido una tan grande y bella tan cerca. Supe que me traía un mensaje, era jueves, y llegar a vos fue tan complicado, pero sabía que si llegaba era porque tenía que estar ahí.

Llegué y en ese momento supe, que me esperabas para que te acompañara en tu cirugía. Todo se desarrolló tan rápidamente, y estuve en todo momento, ahí para calmarte, para decirte que te queria, lo hermoso que eras. Cuando estabas muy cansado, te apoyaste en mi hombro, respiraste en mi cuello, y yo sosteniendote. Me miraste, con esos ojos dulces y pacientes, no entendias que pasaba, y te dije que todo iba a estar bien, que estuvieras tranquilo. Aunque estaba muy inquieta y preocupada, esperaba que el final no fuera así. Me reconforta, al menos un poco, haber estado ahi acompañandote. Tambien se, que todo esta bien, porque ya no estas con dolor en tus manos, y podrás galopar y ser más libre que nunca.

Siempre digo que los caballos son mis seres favoritos, y vos me lo demostraste un vez mas. Gracias por confiar en mi.

Ahora comprendo que esa mariposa venía a avisarme de tu nueva metamorfosis, yo solo esperare a que volvamos a encontrarnos, mas allá del tiempo y el espacio.

Gerbil rescue! When Spice’s cage mate passed away, their owner decided they didn’t want to get another gerbil to be friends with Spice, so they surrendered him to Hamilton Animal Services. We were happy to take Spice in, and we had him neutered shortly after his arrival. Gerbils need to be in pairs or groups, so our intention is to try to find him a home where there is another lone gerbil who needs a friend. Spice is doing great in his foster home so far.
