DREAMING
Tumblr media
Chapter two
The Doctor stays silent. A bit confused to be honest but also intrigued. How would they know about his existence if he's from another universe? He literally cannot exist in another universe, but he has fans. Why? How did this happen?
"Fans?"
"What?"
"I have fans?" He slowly smiles with pride. "Woah, I mean, I know I save the world like, almost every day, but I never knew they could do this! Well, LINDA existed once" Now he's thinking out loud while he walks through your apartment like it's his.
"What?" You follow him around, watching as he enters the little kitchen and grabs a cup to look at it and leave it in the same place.
"You're a fan" His smile becomes wider. "Do you want me to autograph something?" He says in a bit of a mocking tone, but still being real.
"What? No! Well, maybe. But that's not the case" You frown. "Of course you have fans! You're David Tennant! You're The Doctor! Come on, one of the biggest shows in the UK" You roll your eyes. You're annoyed by yourself! It's funny tho, great impression of him.
He laughs. "I can't believe I have my own website" He says with a smile. Didn't last too long that he became serious again, almost a worried look on his face -totally a worried look on his face-. "What do you mean by 'show'?" He walks up to you. "Who's David Tennant?"
You just look at him, very confused. "Oh, come on man. How can I annoy myself so much?" You sigh, walking out if the kitchen to the living. He's walking just behind you.
"Show me the website"
"What for?" You sit on the couch, tired.
"Just show me!"
"Fine! Give me my laptop, it's on the table"
He quickly grabs it and gives it to you. It took you a couple of minutes to turn it on and enter the website.
"See?" You point the different things on it. "Show. Original version and modern continuation. And here you have the different doctors" He reads '10° Doctor David Tennant'.
"That's the man you mentioned" He uses the mouse to click on it. "Season 2? 3? 4? What's this?" He whispers to himself, selecting 'Season 2', opening his eyes wide when he sees his own face. "T-that's me"
You nod. "Of course! It's in Spanish so I don't think you'll understand."
"Oh, don't worry, the TARDIS translates everything"
"...Right" You click the first chapter of season 2 and skip the intro to directly to the episode and see David's face.
The Doctor gulps. "But I-I lived that! What's this?" He says confused.
You sigh, just watching the chapter for like... the fifth time. "I don't know if this is the best or worst dream I've ever had" You look at him again. You had to admit he's very handsome. I mean, you wouldn't bother bother to just look at him. Pretty face.
"Stop saying this is a dream! It's not, believe me I would pretty much know if it was! Now, explain me what's going on right now!" You jump in you place a bit. The screaming took you by surprise. You see the worrying, despair and confusion on his face. It just hurts to see him like this, almost making you forget that this is a dream, I mean, you weren't a ecpathic* monster, you know he's having a bad time.
"Fine" You sigh and look at the laptop placed on your thighs. You pause the video just when David's face pops up and point at him. "That's David Tennant, an Scottish actor and this is the show 'Doctor Who' I told you about. It's about a Time Lord that has a ship, the TARDIS" You point at it. "and travels around the universe and time" You finally look at him. He's even more confused than he was before.
"But that's my life. I lived that. I remember living this" He points the screen of the laptop. "I do travel around with the TARDIS" And points at it. A few more seconds of silent, he doesn't understands how he got here and what's this place. You don't understand why he's acting like that, but still don't want to wake up. "Oh, no. Oh, no, no, no, no, no" He quickly stands up and walks to the TARDIS. It's still broken, he has to fix it.
You just stayed there in the couch. And still tired.
"What are you doing?" You ask loudly so he can here you inside the ship.
He walks out of it to look at you.
"I'm trying to leave this place" He pops back inside. Oh, no, of course you were going to follow him.
"What?"
"See" He walks to you with a... thing, on his left hand. Probably a piece of the ship. And on the right he's holding a hammer. ", I don't how, I don't know why, but the TARDIS brought me here for some reason. This is not a dream, this is not your imagination or something. This is real, I'm real. I crashed into your universe where I seem to be fictional"
You are shocked. Completely shocked. You stay silent, looking directly at his eyes and viceversa. However the human brain is scared about new stuff that it's been drying for its whole existence. So, yeah, you don't believe it.
"Yeah sure!" You laugh out loud. Now the Doctor is annoyed and watching as you suffer a stomachache due to the laugh. "Oh god! This dream is making me so happy. I will so remember this when I wake up" You say in giggles.
"Oh, come on! This is real! My TARDIS is real!" He growls and just runs back to the center. "Why did you break? Huh!" He slams it with the hammer on his hand, but the TARDIS doesn't reacts.
You look at him and then around you.
This definitely couldn't be real. It just can't. You're dreaming. You have to be dreaming. The Doctor, the ship you're in right now, you've seen it all in the show, in a screen. You've seen the cast go around in the set. It's all fiction. It's all fake. How could this be real? It can't be, but somehow you have thus weird feeling on your chest that tells you this is just fine, this feels alright, even if your mind is telling you something completely different. Your gaze now lands on the alien-man screaming at the controls of his space ship, trying to fix whatever is wrong with it and go back home.
Maybe this was real. But how? It's so hard to believe something you've wished for so hard for so long became real.
"How can you be real? I mean. I-I've seen the cast. The exist. So does the books and all" You confusedly murmur, walking towards him.
He looks up at you, he was lying on the floor using his sonic screwdriver to look for errors on the cables it something. You didn't pay much attention to it as you wouldn't understand it.
"Look. There's many different universes. Everything can be or not different. In mine, I'm very real, believe me. In your in just a fictional character" He stops looking at you and keeps inspecting. "I need to get out if here and fix everything because of the Void. I certainly don't want to ruin a while different universe"
Wow. Okay. This may actually be real. You feel the excitement run through your veins and start shacking a bit.
How could this be real? Why? What happened? There's really many universes? The Doctor really exists in one of them? No, but the whole show you've been watching is real? How do the writers would know that? Do they know about this?

Wrong Tardis (Ninth Doctor x M!Reader/ Tenth Doctor x M!Reader)
I'm not a huge fan of Nine but I'm slowly going back and watching his episodes and he's kinda growing on me.
Not sure if he's ooc here (though I'm like 90% sure Rose is) but whatever. I'm super excited for tomorrow's special and really wanted to write more for this series.
If you have any requests for this series send me an ask! (just keep in mind I have my own plans for big episodes like Silence in the Library or End Of Time.
Wordcount: Just over 1k
Series masterpost
Tumblr media
The Tardis was old, like really old, like when the Doctor stole it it was already in a museum old. So occasionally it glitched, nothing too big. That is until it glitched and teleported you you to Cardiff 2005.
That was a whole earth year before you even met the Doctor. On the plus side the glimpse of his face you saw before you were teleported told you he would find you and come to pick you up, it was only a matter of time so you walked around.
You had yet to be in Cardiff in 2005, you'd been in to Cardiff circa 1910 but not 2005 so you look around, you saw the sights, you people watched for a bit and then you saw a familiar blue box.
"About time" You told yourself as you walked in.
"Did you fix the timezone processor?" You asked, happy to be back. By your calculation is had been about 3 hours.
"Who're you?" Asked a blonde woman who'd put herself between you and the Tardis console. You blinked.
You may have jumped to conclusions.
Looking around the inhabitants of this Tardis were very much not the inhabitants of yours. You only recognized one face. Captain Jack Harkness (Though he wasn't traveling with you when you'd been teleported away).
"You're Rose Tyler" You said to the woman who stood in front of you and she nodded.
"Yeah, and who are you?" She asked again. By now Jack and the Doctor, or the man you assumed was the Doctor were looking at you wearily.
You looked to the Doctor, his hair was darker and buzzed close to his head, his forehead creased in ways your Doctor's didn't and his ears were definitely larger than you remembered them being. Looking into his eyes calmed you though, because those were definitely the eyes of the man you loved. Though perhaps a few years younger.
This was the Doctor before you'd met him. before he knew you existed, maybe even before he destroyed Gallifrey.
"Well? Aren't you gonna answer her?" Asked Jack all three were looking at you expectantly.
"I'm an anthropologist" You finally said.
"An anthropologist?" Rose asked and you nodded.
Both Jack and Rose looked at you intently, not really buying it.
"Is that your name?" Rose asked wearily.
"No" You answered honestly, "But I can't tell you my name. I'm sorry." You told her and once again looked at the Doctor. He hadn't said anything yet.
"What do you mean you can't tell us your name? Why?" Rose asked.
"Because he's from the future Rose" The Doctor finally said, climbing down from the ladder he was perched on when you burst in.
"Aren't you?" He asked and you nodded.
"You're from my future" He said and you smiled almost sadly.
"Inquisitive as ever Doctor" You told him.
"I should go" You said, slowly turning around.
"Wait, if you're really from the future how come you were so shocked to see us? Don't you know us? Like, the future us?" Rose asked.
"He can't tell you anything Rose, it could put the whole timeline at risk" The Doctor said.
"He's right, I really shouldn't even be here. I thought this was my Doctor's Tardis coming to finally pick me up."
"Finally? How long have you been here?" Jack asked.
"About three hours" You told him.
"Does that mean there's another version of the Doctor wanderin' around Cardiff right now?" Rose asked and you chuckled a bit.
"No, we had a bit of glitch—" "With the timezone processor?" The Doctor asked.
"I can't tell you that" You said but he smiled at you with the cheeky little smile that only this face must have because you'd never seen it before and you sighed, "Yes with the timezone processor".
"What's a timezone processor?" Rose asked.
"It's what keeps all occupants of the Tardis in the same time bubble in flight" Both you and the Doctor said together, the two of you looked at each other.
"It's going to be your fault you know. You don't check the timezone processor enough and at some point it's going to act up. I want you to remember me saying this when I see you again. It's your fault" You told him but your voice held no malice, quite the opposite, it was loving teasing and both Rose and Jack could tell.
"I'm gonna go meet Mickey at the train station" Rose said and she grabbed Jack with her as she left. Leaving you and the Doctor alone but not before looking at the Doctor one last time, smiling and giving him a big old wink.
With just the two of you left the Tardis was quiet except for the soft whirring of the engine as it fueled up.
"How do you know what a timezone processor is?" The Doctor asked.
"I can't tell you" You said.
"When are you from?" He asks.
"I can't tell you that either" You repeat.
"Then can you tell me why you're looking at me like that?" He asks.
You step closer to him and gently cradle his face in your hands.
"I've never this face before" You simply say.
"What are you to me?" He asks.
"One day you'll find out. One day you're going to look at this face and smile and you're going to call me brilliant and when you do you're going to remember this and who knows, maybe I'll see this face again" You told him and kissed his cheek.
The wheezing sound of the Tardis landing could be heard faintly from beyond the wooden doors and you smiled widely.
"See you soon" You said and turned around, walking out to hopefully find your Doctor waiting for you.
Outside the Tardis stood another blue police box with the door open and the Doctor stood outside.
"There you are! We've been looking all over for you!" He said. His face was covered in oil and grease.
"Did you fix the timezone processor?" you asked.
"Eh, eventually" The Doctor said.
"And was it sparking because of a loose wire from when we crashed on Auros?" You asked, admittedly somewhat condescendingly.
"Yes" The Doctor mumbled and you rolled your eyes.
"I told you to check it" You said as you walked inside. The Doctor closed the door behind you.
"Y/N" He said, calling your name and you turned your attention from the Tardis console to him.
"Yes love?" You asked.
"Have I told you that you're brilliant?" He asked and you smiled.
"Not recently, no" You said.

Stupidity
10th Doctor x Male Reader
Tumblr media
"Well, Doc? What's the diagnosis?" you quip, wincing as the Doctor carefully examines the gash on your arm.
"Stupidity. It's chronic and terminal," he replies with a smirk, fetching the TARDIS's medkit. "Running away from aliens without looking where you're going? That's textbook."
You chuckle, "Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time. Besides, it's not every day you get to sprint through time and space."
"True enough," he concedes, his eyes dancing with amusement as he starts cleaning the wound. "But you have to admit, there are safer ways to get your heart racing."
You shoot him a teasing look, "Are you suggesting I find a hobby less adventurous than time-traveling with you, Doctor?"
He grins, his hands skillfully wrapping a bandage around your arm. "Oh, I wouldn't dream of it. Life's more fun with a bit of danger. Keeps the adrenaline flowing."
"Right, because nothing says 'fun' like narrowly escaping extraterrestrial threats," you remark, watching his focused expression as he tends to your injury.
"Ah, but it's the thrill of the unknown, the excitement of the unexpected that makes it all worthwhile," he replies, his fingers grazing your skin gently.
You raise an eyebrow, "Are you trying to distract me from the fact that you're essentially calling me reckless?"
The Doctor looks up, a mischievous twinkle in his eyes. "Maybe I am. But, you know, there's something undeniably attractive about someone who dives headfirst into the unknown."
You can't help but blush at his compliment, "Flattery won't make the pain go away, Doctor."
"Oh, but it might make you forget about it for a moment," he suggests, leaning in a bit closer. "And I must say, you do look rather dashing with a battle wound."
You playfully roll your eyes, "Is that your way of saying I look handsome even when injured?"
He grins, unabashedly flirting, "Well, I wouldn't want you to think I only find you charming when you're at your best. Besides, scars tell a story, and I do love a good story."
As he finishes up with the bandage, the Doctor gently pats your shoulder. "There, good as new. Now, how about we find somewhere a bit safer for our next adventure, hm?"
You nod, a smile playing on your lips. "Sounds like a plan, Doctor. Just try to keep the danger level to a minimum, if you can."
He gives you a mock-innocent look, "Me? Keep things safe? Where's the fun in that?"
And with a playful exchange of banter, you and the Doctor prepare for the next thrilling escapade through time and space.

Homesick
this is a Doctor who fanfic, it's almost like a big experiment that I'm doing with a lot, LIKE A LOT, of theories or headcanons in it, crucial to this story (not all of them but whatever). I will put every source I use in this fics and if this series continues they will be A LOT. today's source tho it's just one @/whynotjohnlock I took something from them so thank you for the informations. There are some "uncanny valley" references but I tried to explain them as best as I could, let's just say it's full of nerd stuff and it will only get worst :)
♤♤♤♤
pairing: 9th Doctor x reader (will eventually become 10th later on.)
English is not my first language so I apologise for the mistakes.
♤♡◇♧♤♡◇♧♤♡◇♧♤♡◇♧♤♡◇♧♤♡◇♧
The street Y/n is walking in makes him nauseous, he saw that street so many times...the buildings, the houses, the people...all the same all the time, it's like living a nightmare: 20 years always in the same place with the same faces and the same dreams, dreams that not even he can believe.
Y/n lights up a cigarette letting the smoke fill his lungs and brain, it's poisonous yet it feels so good, the way his brain gets dizzy everytime the smoke gets in his body it's what he needs, it's the best feeling he can get in that small town somewhere.
He looks at the too familiar place with dead eyes, not even an emotion, maybe disgust for the place, he knows he will die in the same house he grew up in, like all the people in that fucking place, he will die sad and alone like his father before him, and the father of his father; lonliness and bad behaviour run strong in his family, as much as he hates it he is his parents' son, he has the same destructive, hot tempered and maybe pessimistic side of his father but the horrible, pathetic, useless kind heart his mother had..great woman his mother, always there to help the others until one day she helped the wrong person.
The street is looking as he remembers except for a tiny little detail, there's a phone box hidden in an alley, he has seen that alley a million times before but that blue box? it appeared from no where, almost a glitch in the matrix, he thinks; he's such a nerd.
Y/n steps closer carefully looking in case the owner is around, he feels the blue wood on his fingers genlty caressing it with his right hand, it's almost like the blue box can feel it, Y/n can swear he saw it light up for a tiny second. He steps away shaking his head, the door of the box is locked, he does take a picture tho, unusual to see something like that, it brought up feelings Y/n forgot he had.
"and who are you?" A voice behind him makes him flinch for a second, he never heard that voice before, Y/n turn around trying to go back to his stern look rather than the curiosity that made his face soften making him look like a kid.
"Is that yours?" Y/n asks crossing his arms, the man is wearing a big leather jacket and he's almost bald with a really noticeable nose, but overall he looks attractive Y/n has to be honest with himself
"answering a question with a question?" The man smirked in a sort of cheeky way, not arrogant even if it seemed that way
"avoiding to answer the question?" Y/n shot back tilting his head slightly, the man was a bit taller than him, probably much older, his eyes were at least, to the point where his face didn't match them.
"that is mine" the man answered in a calm tone, he looked weird tho, he didn't fit in properly, he was an english guy with a northern accent owner of a blue box in a hidden alley. Y/n looks at him suspiciously, his mind racing trying to think about what could be in that blue box, the most stupid reason comes to his mind but it's too late to stop his own mouth.
"what do you hide there? drugs? It won't take long for someone to notice it, it's a small town people talk." Y/n says looking around the alley but apparently there was nobody except for them, the man looks at Y/n puzzled and then speaks
"will you talk?" he asks waiting for an answer, Y/n raises his eyebrows, he was so weird, yet fascinating.
"no.." Y/n answers unsure looking between the man and that blue box
"great then, see ya" he says entering the blue box, but he leaves the door open, Y/n looks around the box, he hears noises coming from inside, he takes a look not sure what to expect but anything was better than the usual.
The blue box was bigger on the inside, Y/n couldn't believe his eyes, he steps in rapidly scanning the place and taking information, he processes everything as fast as he can but he feels his mind about to explode; the man is going around the console pressing buttons untill he notices the young man and smirks
"do you always come in when you're not invited?" he asks looking at Y/n with the same smug face as before
"do you always leave the door open for strangers?" He answers back quickly, too busy wondering around with his eyes to pay attention to the man
"this is the TARDIS, Time And Relative Dimension In Space" he explains crossing his arms and leaning on the console
"I was going to say bigger on the inside but.." Y/n starts to walk around biting his lower lip to think "maybe pocket dimension, this TARDIS is probably on another plane of existence or does it expand this one?" Y/n asks but wasn't waiting for an answer he just keeps thinking stopping sometimes humming a bit and then keeps talking
"if it travels in the fourth dimension, commonly known as time then it has the ability to change its weight and size...even appearance" he kept going mostly talking to himself
"it needs an incredible amount of power...a star maybe, a black hole even if less likely..fascinating tho, this can't be human and neither can you" He turns to the man who had a surprised look rather than a smug one, even a little bit amused by the man wondering around his TARDIS
"almost like uncanny valley just less scary I guess, my brain recognised you as an human being, yet something about you seemed off even if I couldn't recall what was it," Y/n affirms tilting his head to the side, that's what he always does when he's pointing out or suspecting something or at least that's what the man in the leather jacket noticed about him.
"so, what's your name?" he finishes getting closer to the man
"The Doctor" he answer with a tiny smirk crossing his arms in front of Y/n
"Doctor who?" Y/n asks raising his eyebrows, 'The Doctor' chuckles, he heard that question a lot Y/n thinks,
"just The Doctor" He says smiling at Y/n, a wide smile impressed by the younger man knowledge
"apparently you don't need me to explain how the TARDIS works.." he says while Y/n shrugs
"I failed physics 4 times, I know it by heart now" he explains in a low tone as if someone else could hear him and call him a nerd.
"you want to see it in action?" The Doctor says pressing some buttons as Y/n tryes to play it cool and hide the excitement
"is that even a question?" he just says screaming internally, finally something different, he can't believe he is leaving that small town, this can't be real, he might have bumped his head and now he's in coma.
"where are we going?" Y/n asks still focusing on the Doctor's movement, which buttons he presses and when, he can almost feel the levers and buttons under his fingers, he wants to drive the TARDIS, just to know how it feels like.
"anywhere you li-" as The Doctor tries to finish the sentence the TARDIS shakes making both of them fall to the ground, Y/n bumps his head as he groans in pain raising his hand to reach his head.
As the TARDIS stops Y/n stands up still holding his head massaging it and then turns to The Doctor with a stern look
"who gave you the licence, a fucking monkey? no not even a monkey, they would drive it better!" Y/n complains but the other man doesn't listen to him, instead he steps outside with a courious look on his face, Y/n follows him mumbling things under his breath
"we're in London?" he says looking around, Y/n scoffs
"anywhere in time and space and you bring me in London...in 2005!" he whines following the man in the city, Y/n clearly doesn't fit in, with his earrings and general piercings he looks like the lost member of the Tokyo Hotel however he tries to let the weird looks from the people slide for now,
"I didn't bring you here, the TARDIS brought us here for some reason," The Doctor answers
From that moment on things happen, they meet Rose,she's great and Y/n likes her. they fight with mannequins and a disgusting looking thing, Mickey is there too, not as great as Rose but whatever. It's time to go, Y/n knows the Doctor wants to take Rose with him, something is going on, it's clear in their eyes. Mickey is hiding behind a pallet, pathetic, Y/n thinks but doesn't say anything about it.
"a lot of good you were" Rose says looking at the man who's leaning on the TARDIS doorway, Y/n is outside, watching the scene carefully, his bleeding due to scratches on his face he tried to clean them with a tissue but that's what he gets for starting a fight with mannequins.
"Nestene Consciousness? Easy" he says with a smug smirk, Rose and Y/n let out a scoff
"you were useless in there, you'd be dead if it wasn't for me"
at the end of it Rose runs in the TARDIS, The Doctor smiles widely running to the console, even Y/n let's out a little smile looking at Rose, letting her know he's happy she came with them.
"Right then, Rose Tyler, you tell me. Where do you want to go? Backwards or fowards in time. It's your choice. What's it going to be?" The Doctor asks turning to Rose while Y/n quickly turns to him with a annoyed face,
" hey! what about me?" he says, after all he still didn't get a trip, or well he did but in London, 2005...that could've gone a bit better honestly.
"I don't talk to people with a black eye" he says turning to Y/n who mumbles "wait until I get you a black eye"
--
After the end of the earth, Y/n feels bad, mostly because Rose was so sentimental and sad of watching the earth get burned, he insisted watched, he watched with relief, the place that hurt him many many many years ago is burning down, he's watching it burn down. Rose calls her mom, she feels homesick, she doesn't want to look at it, Y/n tho he is watching every second of it, he's silent, his hands in his pockets, his face still bruised by the first trip, in his eyes the reflection of his world burning but no sign of sadness, to be clear no sign of anything. Rose's homesick, Y/n's home makes him sick.
The Doctor notice it, he sees the difference between his two new companions, he sees the difference in how they perceive things, when they killed Cassandra, Rose knew it was the right thing and maybe was even ok with it, Y/n wasn't, he glanced at The Doctor with rage and disappointment, how could he kill someone so easily? The Doctor tries to put a hand on Y/n shoulder but doesn't, instead Rose talks while watching the asteroids
"The end of the Earth. It's gone. We were too busy saving ourselves. No one saw it go. All those years, all that history, and no one was even looking. It's just" Rose stops not able to continue, The Doctor shifts his gaze from Y/n to Rose smiling as he easily understand her better than he can understand him.
"come with me" he says heading back to the TARDIS with rose following him, Y/n tho stays still amd that's when Rose notices the white knuckles of the man getting white while his fists get tighter,
"Y/n, you're coming?" she asks touching the man's arm lightly almost afraid, his hand relaxes as he looks at her trying to fake a calm expression as his gaze softens
"sure," he nods forcing his lips to curve in a smile.
They're back in London standing in the crowd, kids crying, people yelling and all that, Y/n sighs looking around, he doesn't understand if he's as relieved as Rose at the sight of normality but for now he turns to the other two as the Doctor begins to speak
"You think it'll last forever, people and cars and concrete, but it won't. One day it's all gone. Even the sky. My planet's gone. It's dead. It burned like the Earth. It's just rocks and dust before its time." he says opening up, Y/n remembers what they said, the last of his kind, he listens closely not talking or interrupting, he just listens to the man.
"I'm a Time Lord. I'm the last of the Time Lords. They're all gone. I'm the only survivor. I'm left travelling on my own 'cos there's no one else." he continues after Rose asked a few questions
"you have me, us" she corrects herself looking at Y/n, he looks at her and The Doctor nodding even if he knows it's not how Rose thinks, it's cute how she thinks that enough but it's not, The Doctor is alone, he doesn't have anyone to share his grief with, as much as we try no one could understand his feeling, he's alone, he will always be alone no matter how many companions he has no one will ever fill that void, Y/n knows as he looks in The Doctor's eyes and The Doctor knows too as he look at Y/n almost like he read his thoughts
"You've seen how dangerous it is. Do you want to go home?" The Doctor asks the both of them but mostly looking at Rose, she hesitates for a few second but before she can answer Y/n speaks
"I want chips, who's with me?" he says as the other two laugh and nod
"chips it is then" The Doctor says and Rose takes his arm looking up at him
"Right then, before you get me back in that box, chips it is, and you can pay." she says chuckling slightly flirting with the man
"no money" he answered and Y/n let's out a light scoff almost like a chuckle
"my treat," he says looking at the two
"see that's a gentleman" Rose jokes nudging The Doctor
"yeah, he almost won me" The Doctor says and Y/n winks at him
the three laugh heading to get chips before going back in the TARDIS for another adventure.

The Universe Is Yours
Pairings: 10th Doctor x M!reader
Warning: teeny tiny bit if man angst
Summary: You followed The Doctor everywhere. And now he finally found you.
Word count: 1700
Aliens spanned all across the universe, so many different species and subspecies and on top of that there were new cultures and religions that came with the new species. You loved to study them all, every alien invasion that came to earth, any encounter you witnessed. You were always there, always taking pictures. But there was one similarity with all the encounters.. The Doctor.
You first heard of him a few years back when christmas santas and plastic mannequins tried to take over london, next event was when an alien ship crashed into the london river, and once again aliens tried to take over, which lead to harriet Jones becoming prime minister, leading to the torchwood institute and all its alien capturing tools. There were many more events that happened after, all with the doctor making his appearances and saving London and the world. The most recent was when Cybermen and Daleks tried to battle for earth, and the doctor sucked them all into the void like nothing had ever been there in the first place, minus all the destruction that was left behind. You were there for all of it, blending in as a worker with fake IDs, or just there taking pictures.
The more these events happened, the moreThe Doctor seemed to notice you, hiding in the shadows away from prying human eyes, but alas he wasn't human, and he noticed. Rose was gone, in the parallel universe, living her life, and the Doctor was alone… or was he really? Because wherever he went, you seemed to follow.
Today had been pretty boring it seemed, no alien attacks, no signs of the doctor, no panicking or screaming. London was… normal… for the first time in a long time, and that in its own way was strange to you. Currently you are in your apartment suite, hanging up your newly bought Canadian and UK flags in your window.
You were born in Canada but moved to London when you turned twenty, having finished school and with nothing else to do with life. Your parents died and your grandparents who had taken care of you your whole life had also passed away last year. So London and all its mysteries called to you. At first you were interested in ancient ruins and old civilizations, history and vikings and anglo-saxons all interested you. Then aliens came and it became your new hyperfixation.
You had a day job, because you obviously couldn't live in London with no job, so you worked as a delivery organizer in the warehouse, receiving all the packages that were delivered to your store, managing a forklift and shelves. It paid a pretty decent penny, enough to help you live of course.
Today was your day off however, and with nothing strange going on you decided to take your polaroid camera and take a walk through the park, and it's exactly what you did, taking nice pictures of nature, and of cute little squirrels and birds. Eventually you took a seat down on a bench in the park, sorting through the polaroids in your bag, smiling at the better pictures. A sigh left your lips, and you glanced to your side after noticing someone had sat down beside you, however you didn't really care all that much, until you took a double take, noticing a very familiar coat jacket, and pants… you looked up, eyes widening when you saw familiar short brown hair, and a beautiful pair of eyes…
He was sitting right beside you.
You put your camera in your satchel and you stood up abruptly, taking a step back as he smiled at you. "Hello!" he exclaimed. And with that you turned and ran, gripping the strap of your bag as your legs carried you through the park. Some people gave you strange looks, and when you looked back for just a moment you tripped on a stick on the path and went tumbling down.
However, before you could hit the ground you felt two arms wrap around you and twirl you around, holding you close for just a moment to make sure you were stable. However as you were spun around your camera had managed to fall from your bag, and it smashed into a dozen pieces on the ground.
You pushed the stranger away, falling to your knees as you hastily gathered all the pieces, your breath catching in your throat as a steady stream of tears escaped your eyes, and finally you let out a choked sob, holding all the broken polaroid pieces in your hands. 'man up' you thought to yourself, wiping your tears with the back of your hand. "men shouldn't cry, stupid boy" you whispered, leaning back on your legs as you stared up at the sky,
You then felt a hand on your shoulder, and slowly the doctor came into view again. "Hey, don't run away this time… I only want to talk." He said softly, grabbing the camera pieces from your hands and from the ground. "Hmm yes… yes! What a brilliant piece of technology! come back to the TARDIS with me and I'll fix your camera right up for you!" He exclaimed, shoving all the pieces into your bag before hoisting you up onto your feet. "What? No way Doctor… Doctor Who?! I'm not coming into your tiny police box so you can kidnap me and dump me on some- some other world! no way!" You exclaimed, taking a step back as the doctor extended a hand to you.
"Oh come on! I don't know you but you clearly seem to know me.. Why not take the chance to talk to The Doctor! it'll be funnnn~" he sang out, seeing the conflict spread across your face.
With a deep breath, you reluctantly grabbed his hand, however as soon as you did he immediately dragged you along as he ran through the park, to the blue police box you have seen so many times and taken so many pictures of. And when he opened the door, and pulled you inside… it was like nothing you had ever seen before… "Woah… what…" you trailed off, and your immediate thought was to take pictures, but without your camera… you couldn't.
You turned back to the doctor, and he was smiling widely, gesturing for you to give him the camera pieces… and so you did. watching as he laid them all across his console, and with some strange looking screwdriver he pieced together your camera, and added a few things too it seemed, and within the hour he handed your camera back to you, smiling brightly still. "So? what do you think?" he asked, and you studied your camera intensely, glancing up at him with a curious look.
"What did you add to it?" you asked, and it looked like his smile grew even wider upon hearing your question. "well! I added a few things that might be invented a few years from now, but oh well i'll let you have something a little nicer. But your pictures will become much cleaner and easier to see, no flashback in pictures. unlimited polaroid so you never need to buy cartridges again! and, there's a UV light on it, and an infrared camera setting, and night vision! just in case." he explained, watching as your eyes went wider the more he explained what he had added to your camera.
You gently set it down on the center console, looking up at him before abruptly pulling him into a tight hug. "Thank you Doctor." You whispered, pulling back with a nervous expression.
"It's no problem really… and whoever told you that men can't cry, is stupid and wrong." The doctor stated, which made you smile a bit more. However, before you could say anything, he spoke up again. "So now I did something for you… so you can do something for me. Tell me when you first saw me, and started taking pictures. Because I see you everywhere I am." He started, taking a step closer to you. Your eyes went wide, and you took a step back in response. "I mean it started a few years ago I guess?When you looked… different? It started when the plastic mannequins attacked london." You answered, and he hummed in response.
"You dont sound like you're from London… Where are you from?" He asked, and you smiled. "Canada! proud and free, i moved to london after my grandparents died, i have no family, just my camera." You answered, a sad tone to your voice as you explained this to him.
The doctor took a step back from you, and you relaxed, grabbing your modified camera, putting it in your bag with a sigh. "Well… why are you following me?" he asked finally,and you beamed in response, pulling out all the photos and files you carried with you. "Ever since I saw you there has been alien activity everywhere! all across the world. I used to be interested in old structures, and viking history… But ever since you came around i've been hyper fixated on you i guess? and your adventures… It's just all so fascinating." You explained, seeing him smile at your response.
'Well then… would you like to see my adventures first hand? you could come with me on all my adventures…" He suggested.
he was giving you the option to explore galaxies, new worlds, you could meet aliens and study cultures with the doctor up close instead of watching them from afar… You had no family, no animals, and nothing at home… but The doctor was offering you the world.
You saw him extend his hand to you, and without a second thought you grabbed it. "i need to stop at my apartment, and pack some money and clothes… But yes Doctor… I'll come with you." You said softly, and he pulled you towards the console and told you which buttons to press, and when he got the location of your home he took you there, appearing in the spare bedroom of your apartment.
This? being shown the universe? with such a hot man too? You couldn't have it any other way.

MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
When the TARDIS lurched under their feet, Y/n knew something was wrong. Then it sputtered and Rose caught herself on the railing and the trio all exchanged looks. “What’s this then?” Rose bit. She had been trying extra hard recently to keep things cheery. It had been rough on Y/n, which had been rough on the Doctor, so she had to give more effort than usual to draw them into bantering with her.
Well, maybe Y/n.
The Doctor had a knack for bouncing back.
It showed now as they finally parked and he shrugged, slinging his arm over her shoulders as they all slipped out of the door, Y/n leading them. “I don’t know. It’s like she didn’t want to land. Like she’s having a hard time…”
“Like this place makes her sick,” Y/n offered in more clarification. He felt it on the edges of himself. Something roiling just under the surface. It reminded him that they were connected and that made him anxious. Or maybe she was anxious and he was just feeling it. It seemed the longer he was part of this journeying the stronger the link between them got and the harder it was to distinguish what was him, what was Doctor, and what was TARDIS.
Rose raised an eyebrow, looking over at Y/n. “Well if it’s going to be trouble we can always just… pop back in. Head out.” Her tone lilted with humor and Y/n found himself smiling even before the other two burst out laughing.
“I think… we’re in a cupboard. Come on.” And off they went. They wandered, doors opening and closing, announcing themselves every time. The Doctor went on about humanity and their bases and the things they were made for and it was like every other time. Y/n had long since learned when to engage and when it was okay to space out. Keeping present was growing more and more difficult so he tried not to pull himself.
Perhaps that’s why he so quickly saw the writing on the wall when they entered the new room. “Welcome to Hell,” Rose echoed and the Doctor teased her about it but she laughed and pointed it out. And then suddenly the Doctor was frowning just like Y/n was.
On the wall was spray painted the phrase Rose had read aloud. But underneath there were symbols. Definitely a language, but not one that was translated for them. Not one they could automatically understand.
“Well that’s not right,” Y/n mumbled.
“What does it say?” Rose asked.
The Doctor shot forward to get a closer look and Rose followed but Y/n stayed back. That queasy feeling had grown the closer they’d gotten to this room and Y/n was not a fan. “I don’t know - it won’t translate.” He sounded as disturbed by that as Y/n felt.
Rose looked between the writing and the Doctor. “But I thought the TARDIS translated everything, writing as well.” They both looked back to where Y/n was standing and it shocked him to realize they were looking to him for answers on what was going on with the TARDIS. It made sense but it was more pressure than he liked. Is this how the Doctor always felt?
“It feels… wrong.” He shrugged and the Doctor’s eyebrows furrowed even more.
“Well it’s old for sure,” the Doctor tried. “Very old. Impossibly old.” He stood and began to open the next door. “We should find who’s in charge. If we’ve gone beyond the reach of the TARDIS that’s never good news.” The door began to open and Y/n took a step after them but froze with shock at the mass of figures on the other side of it.
The Doctor and Rose weren’t so lucky. They almost rammed into the creatures and screamed in shock. The Doctor began to babble and charm like he always did, immediately trying to get a way in so he could take control and get the information he needed. His banter was ignored.
“We must feed,” the creatures said in unison. Little lamps they all held light up when their voices echoed and with them having no visible mouth Y/n distantly wondered if the little lamps were maybe somehow also the source of the voices. The creatures had tentacles where lips should be and a tube coming out from between them attaching to the little light. Y/n took a step back.
“We must feed,” echoed the words from the hoard beyond the door.
“You’ve got to what?” The Doctor asked, immediately off put by the lack of a response to anything he’d said.
“We must feed,” the creatures echoed again.
“Yeah I think they mean us,” Rose snapped and yanked the Doctor back as the Ood pushed through the doorway and into the room. The pair ran right into Y/n who spun with them to run and found the door on the other side of the room had opened at one point as well and more Ood were coming from there as well. When had it opened?
“We must feed,” echoed over and over, overlapping and disconnecting so it wasn’t in sync anymore. The Ood approached closed and closed and closed until the trio was backed against the wall. The Doctor took out his sonic screwdriver, Rose grabbed a chair and Y/n put himself in front of them for safety. And then…
Suddenly they all stopped. “We must feed,” said the one in the very front. Then he looked down at the little light he was carrying and shook it until it flickered and then hit it once. “You. If you are hungry.” His eyes crinkled in what Y/n knew was an attempt at a smile.
The Doctor was the first to switch back into a friendly mode. “Sorry?” He asked gently.
“We apologize,” the Ood began again. “Electromagnetics have interfered with speech systems. Would you like some refreshment?” Rose slowly put the chair down and Y/n relaxed. The Doctor grabbed his hand to ground him. He’d gotten a lot more affectionate with small stuff like that. Little things to help keep Y/n here with them instead of spacing out again.
As they tried to come up with a response another door opened, this one announcing itself properly like the others had. “What the hell?” A man was on the other side. He wore a gray shirt, black leather jacket and dog tags. Behind him was a black haired man and a black woman, both with guns. The trio approached those they were clearly stunned to see on their ship. He raised his wrist to his mouth and spoke into it. “Captain-“
Something distant echoed in Y/n’s mind. Something hollow and echoing. Something ancient. It was an ache in Y/n’s bones, a breath on the back of his neck that made the hairs on his arms stand up. A chill across his spine.
Something was watching them.
There was an alarm, he registered distantly. They were rushing off to meet the captain and everything was shaking and they were holding on for dear life and as his vision blurred he swore he saw something.
Someone.
The eyes were clearest. Y/n couldn’t look away from them. Black pits of eternal darkness one could fall into and never hit the floor. Heat licked across his skin, he was sure of it. He was burning. Someone was screaming. There was blonde cropped hair and a sickening smile and hands reaching out. Black veins on white skin and those symbols…. Everywhere. Not smeared with wear and tear like the paint on the wall. No this was a tattoo. A brand. Y/n looked down at his hands and saw it like up when his fingers pressed together.
A hand in his. He looked over to see Rose this time. Her eyes were on the group in the room. Introductions, names he couldn’t keep on his head. Except… Toby. He wondered why.
His eyes flickered back to his hands. There was nothing there.
He looked up and tried to play it cool. He couldn’t melt down in front of all these strangers. They didn’t seem particularly keen on three strangers showing up out of nowhere and they didn’t need to push their luck. He thanked Rose for her attention to him, and especially to the way she played it off now and didn’t look at him. Kept her comfort private so no one else had to gawk at whatever episode Y/n seemed to be having more and more of.
The names stopped as the woman introducing everyone pulled a lever to reveal where they were and what was going on outside with the storm. “This,” she said as the roof above them began to open. “This is home.”
“Careful,” the captain said from his seat. “The sight of it has driven some people mad.”
Y/n wasn’t too worried. They’d either seen something equivalent or much worse.
He should have maybe been a bit more worried than he was.
When the roof opened enough to actually see they all shot to their feet, eyes wide and lips parted. The thing in front of them… “That’s a black hole,” Rose offered.
“Impossible,” the Doctor breathed. But it was possible. Ida, the woman who had introduced everyone before, met the Doctor’s doubt with hard truth and undeniable fact. They could see it for themselves. There was a black hole and here they were. In orbit around it. Suspended just fine, safe, as stars and planets - whole solar systems - were pulled into the hole and demolished. That was the storm. The desolation of every corner of eternity this black hole could reach as it was all swallowed into oblivion, ramming into an impossible ship kept in place.
A complete breaking of physics. Even the Doctor was stunned.
He kept asking though. Kept getting all the details, every single one, and Rose learned about the Ood.
It was then that Y/n realized he already knew the name of the creatures. When had he started calling them that? When had he simply known what they were called? Was this a new ability? Seeing the past and the future, and now the present as well? Simply knowing things all throughout time?
It could be worse.
Y/n smiled as the Doctor got excited about humans and their gumption and curiosity and borderline stupidity. It was a reminder to himself as well. That not everything was bad. That there was still hope as long as humanity was horribly curious, a little brave, and quite stupid.
As the Doctor was telling them to leave, Ida made a comment that stopped Y/n cold though. “Look who’s talking. How did you get here then?” The Doctor began to ramble about the TARDIS, knowing he couldn’t really explain it, and where they’d parked. How it tended to simply appear places.
Then the captain - Zack - said something that made Y/n realize why the others had gone from suddenly. “In storage six?” Storage six. The Doctor and Y/n realized it at the same time. Earlier Zack had made a comment about how the Earthquake during the storm had taken some of the base out. Strange five through eight.
The Doctor was running but Y/n found himself still. Staying behind. That fear wasn’t there, the emptiness hadn’t settled. He didn’t even have time to wonder if it was shock before the Doctor was back and looking at Y/n. “What is it?” He asked.
Y/n pursed his lips. “I don’t know. It’s like last time. Like I still feel that connection, that draw. She wasn’t dead last time and I… I don’t think she’s gone this time either.” He shrugged. “I know it sounds silly-“
“It’s not silly, it’s impossible,” Zack said flatly. “We don’t have the extra resources to find your ship.”
“It’s fallen to the center - right where you’re already going,” the Doctor tried.
“Not entirely. It’s just off and we can’t afford that. No extra resources, Doctor. Nothing. No exceptions.”
It wasn’t crushing like last time. There was peace to it. Y/n had leaned back against the control panel and now the Doctor joined him, their shoulders touching. The contact was enough. Potentially losing the TARDIS in the other dimension had been world ending but that weight just wasn’t there. The Doctor looked at Y/n with a sort of desperation and it was clear. Perhaps he had lost the TARDIS, but they’d already discussed this once. They didn’t have to again. He had Y/n. Maybe that could be enough.
“I’ve trapped you here.” The Doctor looked at Rose with apology. Maybe he wasn’t spiraling but he still had other things to worry about. Other ways to torture himself.
“Don’t worry so much,” Rose dismissed immediately. “Y/n said-“
“Y/n’s abilities are sometimes even beyond my own,” the Doctor agreed. “But we can’t always depend on that. If something goes wrong… all this means is that the TARDIS isn’t dead. There are other ways to lose people.” He sighed, running a hand through his hair. “We may never get you back to your mother again.”
Immediately Rose shook her head. “We’ll be fine.” The building shook and she leaned into the Doctor. He wrapped his arms around her as Y/n’s cheek pressed to the Doctor’s shoulder. “We’ll be fine,” she whispered again. It was a lot to process but she was handling it a little better with a little bit of home with her. Y/n supposed he made things like this easier for both of them. A sudden pressure to never let anything happen to himself settled on him more than he’d realized before.
Oh boy.
They took a minute and then headed to the mess hall to get some food. The Doctor and Rose went to get food, Rose offering to get Y/n something as well. He nodded, realizing she had seen the headache he was feeling coming on. He sat and waited for the others as images began to press into his mind. Red eyes this time. Lips parted in a scream. A blue box falling into darkness. Orange skin… plastic? A hazmat suit maybe?
“Are you okay?” Rose set a test down in front of him and he took it with a weak smile.
“It’s that thing I do. But… I don’t know.”
“Seeing the past?” The Doctor asked.
Y/n swallowed. “Seeing the future.” The Doctor’s eyes widened but he didn’t say anything. “It really only manifested as moments the last times it happened. Nothing significant. Sometimes not even something I can make sense of. But this - it’s not even like that. It was always my personal future. Tiny glimpses.” He smiled softly but it crumbled quickly. “This is something darker. I don’t know - it’s like something is trying to get to me. Reaching out. And the closer it gets the more I see something happening seconds ahead of me. Maybe something happening right now, or right now, or now.” He sighed.
Rose rested her cheek on his shoulder. “We’re a long way from home.”
Y/n managed a smile at that. “Oh it’s not too far. What would you say Doctor, 500 years or so?”
The Doctor paused and Y/n registered that calculating expression. The careful placement of his features and the thin line his lips had pressed into. It was a look Y/n knew but had never seen before. The look of someone who was walking a cliff edge. The Doctor didn’t like soldiers, he never had. People who carry guns and get angry and fight fire with fire. Sure they were dangerous and made matters worse more often than not. But… they also remind the Doctor of himself. He needs companions that ground him and pull him from that precipice that threatens to pull him under constantly.
Could Y/n be that for him anymore?
It was a terrifying thought.
And a daunting task.
Y/n looked away as Ida spoke up and opened the roof to show them something. A red streak moving through the sky. What used to be the Scarlet System, getting devoured. It made Rose homesick. She checked her phone and sighed.
“No signal.” She tried to smile and fell short. “We’ve never been out of the TARDIS’ reach before. But, I suppose even if I could. What would I even say to her?” She looked at Y/n as if he could have an answer and got a shrug in response.
“No one knows what would satiate Jackie Tyler. She makes up her own mind about that sort of thing.”
That actually got Rose to smile. “You can’t build another TARDIS can you? Two geniuses like yourselves.”
The Doctor paused, eyes on Y/n. “They weren’t built. They were grown. And with my home planet gone… we’re kind of stuck.”
Rose reached over, taking Y/n’s hand. He rested his cheek on top of her head. “Could be worse,” she tried. “This lot said they’d give us a lift.”
“And then what?” The Doctor was still looking at Y/n when he asked it but his eyes slowly drifted to Rose and stayed there.
She looked back, frowning. “I don’t know. Find a planet. Get a job. Live your life the same as the rest of the universe.”
“The long way around,” Y/n mused.
“I’d have to settle down,” the Doctor pouted. “Get a house or something. A proper house with-“ he stuttered over words for a second. “Doors and things. Carpets. Me, living in a house! Now that… that…” he struggled again and Y/n reached across to take his hand with the one he had free. The Doctor relaxed and eased.
“We can do it together. Figure out how to live something mundane and normal after… all we’ve seen together.” He scoffed and the Doctor and Rose actually laughed.
Rose lifted her head. “Oh god you and I, getting married one day? What do you say?”
Y/n barely contained a grin. “Well I suppose.” His eyes flickered over to the Doctor who suddenly seemed nervous. “Jackie will kill us for getting married without her.” They both laughed.
“Oh, Jackie,” the Doctor sighed. “I promised her I’d always bring you back home.”
Rose raised a hand to fiddle with her earring, eyeing the black hole but not really seeing it. It was just something to look at. “Everyone leaves home in the end.”
The Doctor grew a little more sober. “Not to end up stuck here.”
“Stuck here with you two,” Rose shot back. “That’s not so bad.” She squeezed Y/n’s hand, reaching over with her free hand to take the Doctor’s other as well. She must have squeezed his hand as well because he squeezed Y/n’s and that made him smile.
The Doctor pulled Y/n’s hand to his lips, leaving a kiss on the knuckles. “Marriage. Scary.” Y/n blushed at the implication of this conversation. The fact that they were having it at all. The Do toe seemed so okay with it all. He had been running his entire life… could he stop? Was he even capable of it?
Rose’s phone rang and the trio looked at it at the same time, confusion taking over all their expressions. She raised the phone to her ear.
“Hello?” Nearly the second she said it her face went blank and she chuckled the phone to get it away from her. Y/n and the Doctor both tensed and she turned them with urgency in her eyes. “We need to discuss something. Y/n’s visions - they’re not the in out weird thing. The Ood keep saying weird things, and my call just now- He is awake. That’s what it said.”
The Doctor suddenly got very serious. “Y/n I need to hear every detail of your visions that you can remember. Every single one.”
He told him. Told him about the eyes and the blackness and the red ones too. The inky symbols on his skin and the voice and the breath on the back of his neck. After Rose mentioned the Ood said something in the cafeteria earlier they were on the move.
They asked about the Ood and found there was a telepathic field they all communicated through because they were empathic. Y/n couldn’t focus. That queasy feeling hadn’t ever really left but he had gotten used to it. But now it was getting worse again, pressing against the back of his throat. Words were fading out and he gripped the railing so as not to collapse.
All he could hear was-
“He is awake.” It was Rose’s voice. But he didn’t really seem to care. All his brain could provide him was one response. Words stuck in his throat that needed to get out. That forced their way.
“And you will worship him.” Y/n spoke in sync with the Ood and Rose jumped.
The Doctor looked between Y/n and the Ood and grabbed the railing with both hands.
“He is awake,” the Doctor echoed.
“And you will worship him,” Y/n was forced to say again. Then distant voices, far away again, like warbling in between static in a radio. Nothing at all. And then Y/n felt dizzy and his eyes fluttered and his grip loosened and he heard that scream again. A distant, high pitched woman’s scream. He saw fingers clinging to metal, loosening, and hands disappearing out of view.
Someone had died.
But he couldn’t save her.
He couldn’t even save himself.
He was falling too. Into blackness again. Into that darkness in those eyes. And his time when he fell there was no touch to shake him out of it. He just kept falling. He was suddenly sure he always would be.
-
When Y/n woke up he was covered in sweat. His body temperature was too high; he already knew it. He was on the ground, on his side. Still in the room with the Ood but now he has a pillow under his head. “What happened?”
Someone nervy offered a hand and he took it, letting them help him to his feet. “You passed out. The drill stopped and Ida and the Doctor went down to see about the power source.”
Y/n’s heart stopped. Bad. Very bad. This was not good. “Where’s Rose?”
“Command deck. She- hey! You’re supposed to stay here!”
But Y/n was running. He booked it as fast as he could, opening door after door and barely pausing to close it behind him. He hit the command deck and the door opened just as he saw what he knew he would. Toby, eyes red, those black symbols covering every inch of skin, lips blue. Dead. Something else controlling him.
Everyone jumped when Y/n entered. Toby spun around and locked eyes with him, grinning. “Oh it’s you. My favorite.”
Y/n’s face darkened. “Shut it. You’ll say anything to make me hate myself.”
Toby laughed. Well, his body did at least. That hadn’t been Toby for hours now. “I don’t need to make you do anything. You already do. Do you want to know a secret?” He stepped forward and Y/n held his ground, eyes blazing. Rose reached for him but stopped in her fear. Paused a little too long and didn’t quite touch him. “He hates you too. He sees the corruption in you, and you will lose him as you will lose everyone.”
It wasn’t a speech. It wasn’t a threat. But there was an emptiness to it. This creature couldn’t see the future. But it could see the present, and the comment about the Doctor hating him really could be true. How often did the devil lie? No beating around the bush, no manipulation, no twisting, no half truth. A full lie.
He tried not to think about it.
He didn’t even pause, didn’t even wait. He spun around and hooked his arm around Rose. “Run!” He shouted. Toby groaned and the ink on his skin puffed into smoke in the air. Leaving him clean. And wafting into the Ood, whose eyes turned red. The door had been left open by him and he ushered them all through it. Unfortunately the way Y/n had come was the way toward more Ood and they were stopped by the man who’d woken Y/n earlier.
“Get back!” He yelled. “It’s the Ood! Go the other way!”
So they did the only thing they could do. They went back, and the idiots with guns did the only thing they were good at: they killed the Ood in their way now. Y/n tried to blink the memories away of a different fire. A battle like this. Whatever was amplifying the Doctor’s memories in his mind - this wasn’t the time.
He moved to Rose as she got in contact with the Doctor. “Are you okay?” He asked quietly. The others were yelling at the Ood and some new weapon but Rose was all Y/n cared about now.
She looked at him, recognizing that haunted look in his eyes again. The fear he’d had when her face had been wiped.
She grabbed his hand. “I’m okay, don't worry yourself. Not too much. I need that thinker of yours.” He nodded immediately.
And then he did something a little scary. He turned, kicking Jefferson in the chest. Rose screamed but Jefferson dropped the gun and that was what mattered. Y/n kicked the gun down the hall. It slid past Toby, still on the ground, and out of reach. “What did you do that for?” Jefferson yelled. He was the leader of the soldiers and guards here and Y/n didn’t trust him.
Not just because he’d had a gun.
“You were going to shoot Toby.”
Jefferson blinked. “How did you-?”
Rose looked at Jefferson with fury. “Don’t touch a hair on his head!”
“I don’t follow orders from you,” the old man snapped. “I saw him infected. I saw him bring that thing in here, whatever got to the Ood and messed them up. We all did!”
“What we all saw was that whatever it was, it’s gone,” Rose snapped back. Her voice grew gentler as she approached the man, trying to be as non threatening as possible. Y/n couldn’t do that right now - he was reeling again. “Look at his face, nothing there. It passed into the Ood. He’s clean.”
That wasn’t quite right, Y/n was sure of it. Or maybe he was being paranoid. Either way it didn’t matter. If they could save Toby they had to try - and Jefferson would kill him if he thought he was any kind of threat.
Rose did well.
Jefferson backed off.
As the Doctor and Ida began to get on the capsule to be brought up to the surface, something it took them a second to decide on, the lights flickered and comms were taken over by the Ood. All of then that could, squishing into frame to tell them the Devil was coming after them. That it would kill them all and escape. Telling them things about their past it shouldn’t know. Listed them one by one, with titles and insights about who they were that was… impossible.
It called Y/n ‘the failure who no one can help but trust, who will let them all down when it matters’ and Y/n felt that feeling again. The breath on the back of his neck. And maybe he was pet TARDIS and part Timelord and maybe he was immortal and maybe if he fell into that black hole nothing would happen to him. But it would kill the Doctor and it would kill Rose and he wouldn’t be able to stop it. Nothing else mattered. They would fail. They would die.
The Doctor’s voice cut through the chaos after some feedback got everyone to go silent. The Doctor rallied everyone as he always did. Reminded them they had a chance. Gave them a boost, encouraged them, kept them going. And then the cord that was supposed to pull up the capsule with them inside it snapped and the feedback cut and sure they had life signs but by all intents and purposes, Ida and the Doctor were trapped ten miles below them with no way out and no way to even communicate.
They were gone.
Y/n fell to his knees.
Rose took control. She led everyone as she always could in a pinch. Got everyone organized as she’s learned from the Doctor. No one could deny the authority in her voice - especially when she was completely correct. She used every single person on a taste to complete a plan. They’d travel through the vents to get to Ood habitation and filter a virus that would kill all of them. Zack would filter air as they went by hand. They’d have to be fast and they’d have to stay together. Danny, the man who had been there when Y/n woke up, who usually watched the Ood, made the virus and then they were off. Rose grabbed Y/n’s hand and she gave him a look. Stone hard and cold.
“Promise me you can do this. I need you to move on your own now.”
Rose’s words stung. He hated being a liability. He didn’t know what was wrong with him. He felt useless and stuck. The heat was rising inside him.
But he could do anything for her. “Of course I can. I’m sorry Rose. I didn’t mean to make you doubt me.”
“I never doubt you,” she promised. And that did make him feel better.
They were in the vents as quickly as they could get, but the Ood followed. Jefferson stayed behind to slow them down and they raced as fast as they could to get as far away as possible. But he stayed too long and the door closed and he was left behind. Losing air. And he said his goodbyes. Then he was gone.
Y/n saw it in moments. Flashes. Like a skipping tape. Could feel the heat creeping up again and all he could do was focus on going forward no matter what. Unfortunately when they’re next junction opened the Ood we’re waiting for them and they had to leave the vents and book it on foot. They raced to Ood habitation and Danny input the virus just in time. All the Ood died.
This time Y/n blocked it out. That connection he had, that link he seemed to be tapping into. The part of the TARDIS that connected him to everything around him. He shut it off. The heat stopped and he felt suddenly freezing. His vision focused, his heart beat slowed and his breathing evened. The Ood died and whatever was sinking into Y/n was gone.
They all ran to the comms to try and get to the Doctor and Ida, but they were still down so Zack began to work to try and boost comms to get to them.
Rose looked at Y/n. “You’re looking better. What happened?”
Y/n shook his head. “I don’t know I-“ he felt a deep and profound loss. Something was missing. Something was gone. It terrified him.
But before they could figure it out Zack stepped back and Rose grabbed the comm to try and get to Ida. She yelled for them to report, and they got a voice back.
Ida’s.
“He’s gone,” was all she said at first.
Rose and Y/n locked eyes. “What do you mean he’s gone?” Rose asked. But there was agony in both of their eyes.
“He fell,” Ida answered. And they couldn’t blame her because Rose had asked, but Y/n wanted to. “Into the pit. And I don’t know how deep it is - miles and miles and miles.
Rose blinked, looked away. Tried to hold on to something. There was loss in Y/n’s eyes but she refused to believe it in a million years. He didn’t want her to believe it anyway. The loss he felt wasn’t for the Doctor. Not yet. He wasn’t sure… he couldn’t know if the Doctor was dead or not. Not anymore. Or maybe… maybe the loss was the knowing. Maybe that was the thing he didn’t have. It made his heart sink.
“What do you mean he fell?” Rose asked.
“I couldn’t stop him,” Ida answered and it made Y/n’s eyes water. Of course she couldn’t. No one could have. “He said your name, Rose.”
Rose didn’t respond. She handed the comm to Zack and he talked to Ida as Rose looked at Y/n. “We can’t leave him,” she whispered.
Y/n stared at her with wide eyes. “Rose I… no. We can’t stay here. We’ll die.”
“We won’t. He’ll be back,” she insisted. “You know the Doctor will be back Y/n.”
“No.” Y/n shook his head but Rose had that look in her eyes again. The unstoppable look. Like nothing would convince her or change her mind. And Y/n knew it wouldn’t.
“What’s the matter?” Zack asked as he turned from the comms.
Y/n shot him a very meaningful glance. “She wants to stay on the planet.”
“I want to wait for him,” Rose insisted. “He’ll come back and I have to be here. We have to be here!”
Zack stared at her with pity. “I’m sorry but… he’s dead.”
Rose shook her head. “You don’t know him like we do. Y/n, tell him.”
But Y/n couldn’t help her this time. “I do know him Rose, you’re right. And I know he’s probably not dead. But I also know he can’t get to us. I also know he’d be furious if we stayed. I know that no matter where we go he’ll find us if he can. We don’t have to wait here, no matter where we are, he’ll find us. And staying here won’t help, we'll just get in the way. He’ll pull some miracle and he’ll come back but we have to trust him alright? We have to trust that he’ll find us when we leave, and we have to take care of ourselves and each other in the meantime.” He grabbed her hand. “Please.”
Rose hesitated too long. Y/n thought she was going to argue again. But then she just met his gaze. “Promise me he’ll come back. Promise me he’s alive and has a plan. With your thing, your connection. Tell me he’s okay.”
Y/n did something perhaps quite cruel.
He lied.
“I promise. I have all the Doctor’s brain up here-“ he tapped his forehead. “And he’s figuring it out right now. He’s facing it no problem and he needs us to be safe so he can be the hero again. You know him.” He offered his hand and she paused a second longer but then nodded and took it.
She could hate him later. He would tell her when they were safe. When she couldn’t get hurt or put her life on the line meaninglessly.
They all made their way to the rocket as fast as they could. Buckled in as Zack began to work as quickly as he could to get them to lift off. They were gone as quickly as they could, Y/n reaching over to take Rose’s hand when she looked out the window to watch the planet disappear from view. Somewhere in the middle of it she looked away, toward Y/n. “It doesn’t make sense.”
Y/n frowned. “What doesn’t?”
“We escaped. But if it just wanted to kill us, I mean, it could have in a bunch of different ways. Ripped the whole thing apart, skipped the monologue and just started killing. But it didn’t. It’s like it let us go.”
Toby suddenly turned to Rose before Y/n could respond. “Rose, would you do us a favor? Shut up.” His words were so harsh and so sudden and violent. Rose looked at Y/n and he nodded. That was when the gravity field collapsed. They began falling into the black hole. Toby screamed something and Y/n watched with wide eyes as Rose grabbed the bolt shooter and took aim at the window and pulled the trigger. The glass exploded and everyone screamed as the vacuum of space pulled against them. Rose unbuckled Toby. He was pale again, eyes red and symbols back across his skin.
Zack threw up the shields and they stopped suffocating. Y/n wasn’t much aware. He was seeing things again.
The vision started with glimpses like they usually did. A woman with red hair, then two, both ruffling Y/n’s hair and laughing at something he’d said, but at very different times. A man with dark skin as he rolled his eyes at an older white man and a blonde woman next to them in a long, gray coat that was awkwardly looking between them. Another old man, but this one much grumpier than the last one. A few of him actually. Mostly of him scowling until his eyes landed on Y/n, and then softening. Sometimes the old man was with a brunette woman with a sly, teasing smile hidden behind her hand, and sometimes he was with a black woman who laughed loudly and openly teased the old man for looking at Y/n the way he did. There was another woman too, with brown hair that curled even though she often wore it tied on top of her head. She glared at Y/n, sneering even as she made jokes that Y/n seemed to genuinely laugh at - which only seemed to irritate the woman more.
The visions seemed to catch the second they hit the man with the bow tie again. They stopped and slowed. Not flashes, but moments. He was dancing with Y/n. He was running and gripping Y/n’s hand. He was blubbering about being kissed by someone named Amy, and the drama of it all and how he really didn’t mean it while Y/n laughed. He was wearing an odd hat Y/n had never seen before, but it got ripped off his head and thrown in the air and a shot rang out through the air.
Y/n spun around to see another woman. She had curly blonde hair and a smirk across her lips. Her eyes were bright and shining and when she saw Y/n looking at her there was something distinctly flirty about it. It was confusing. It was easy to tell the Doctor apart from companions. Even the blonde woman with the bob - the anxious one who had been looking between the two arguing men - Y/n knew she was the Doctor too. Companions had such a distinct energy…
This woman wasn’t the Doctor. She carried a gun and there was a dangerous edge to her that Y/n knew the Doctor was capable of but would never display as proudly as this woman was. And yet… there was something about her. She wasn’t a companion. Y/n would say the Master if that were possible but she couldn’t be. She had such a similar energy to the woman with dark curly hair that pinned it up, but the irritation that woman had displayed toward Y/n wasn’t there. And she made Y/n feel very different things.
The next few visions were all of her. Most of them she had that smirk on her face, and some of them she was kissing Y/n. And some of them she was kissing the Doctor - the man on the bow tie.
So definitely not the Master then.
None of them told him how they all fell in love, and it shook him that Rose was nowhere in sight, but it was clear that something had happened and she was gone. And this woman…
“River,” Y/n sighed. “You need to get up.” Y/n felt his heart drop into his toes as the woman curled next to him groaned.
“I want more time.” She reached up, pressing a kiss to Y/n’s forehead.
Y/n chuckled. “You definitely have time. To serve. As the law requires.” The words were coming out of his mouth and the vision was so clear he could feel his heart fluttering and the smile across his face but that didn’t mean any of it made sense.
“It’s so unfair,” River complained. She turned and swung a leg over Y/n to settle on his stomach, leaning down to brush her fingers across his skin. “I only killed the man a little bit. Can’t I enjoy my time with the loves of my life?”
Y/n laughed but his stomach plummeted into his toes. Not his stomach in the vision - that was still fluttering with butterflies, his skin tingling at her touch. Which made even less sense! This woman had killed someone? She was in jail? Had he broken her out? Had she broken herself out just to be here with him? Why would he be with someone like that?
“I'm sure the Doctor will forgive you,” Y/n sighed with love in his voice. But Y/n felt his heart stop in his chest. The implication was clear. This woman had killed the Doctor. How could Y/n love her? All the context was missing. He didn’t understand!
The scene changed and he was looking at his Doctor again. The blue suit and sneakers and spikey hair was all there, but there was a new darkness too. A hollowness. He was older and had lost more. Y/n reached up exactly as he wanted to, running his hands through the man’s hair. The Doctor melted under the touch, his head falling on Y/n’s shoulder. “I missed you.”
Y/n felt his heart ache. “I know,” he responded. He swallowed. The him that was seeing this and the him that was experiencing the moment were completely in sync. So much so that it was hard to hold onto as a vision and it was just a day Y/n was living.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered.
Y/n sighed. He cupped the Doctor’s face, lifting him by the chin to bring their eyes together. “I lost her too. I know how it felt. I know… how it must have felt. To realize I knew the whole time. I can imagine, I mean.”
He shook his head, his eyes watering. “Y/n it wasn’t your fault. You do so much for me and I turned my back on you. It’s only because Donna-“
“It doesn’t matter,” Y/n rushed. “I need you to hear me, Doctor. You’re going to mess up. So am I. And I already forgive you. I have forgiven you a hundred times over because I love you and I know what I am getting myself into every single time I choose you. And I will keep choosing you forever. Do you understand me? I love you.”
The Doctor melted, his eyes softening and some of that light coming back again. “What will I do when I keep losing them?” He sighed. “How do you manage it, knowing how they go?”
Y/n thought over that for a moment. “Honestly, I can’t make decisions for you or anyone. All of them will do as they see fit. And you need them. And I need them. And they need us. Especially you.” He left a kiss on the Doctor’s nose and he smiled ever so softly. “And there are more friends around the corner. Family. And you lose them too, but… the moments you get to have them at all are worth it I think.” He brushed his thumb across the Doctor's cheek. “Does that make sense?”
The Doctor nodded. “A bit.”
Y/n smiled. “Come on. Bed time. You need your sleep.”
Sliding off of the counter he was sitting on, the Doctor rolled his eyes but didn’t resist as Y/n pulled him along. “Alright mum,” he said sarcastically. Y/n laughed and the sound echoed and the TARDIS itself seemed to get a little brighter and the Doctor’s smile grew. They would be okay. They’d figure it all out eventually.
When Y/n woke up he was on the TARDIS. He ran his hands through his hair and sat up, wiping his eyes. Something was off. He slid out of bed and headed into the control room.
The wrong control room.
No wait. This was his control room. Why did he expect a different one? He raised a hand to rub his temples just as the front doors of the TARDIS opened to the sound of laughter. Y/n’s eyes snapped up, wide.
Rose.
Why was he so surprised to see Rose?
At some point in his visions, it seemed the future him had gotten muddled with the current him. And the future him was stunned to see this past version of life, with this TARDIS and this Rose.
Rose and the Doctor froze when they turned and saw Y/n. The Doctor was the first to break. He was across the room in a second, hands on Y/n’s jaw so he could maneuver his face as he checked his eyes. “I told you to keep him in his room until we got back,” he grumbled, and Y/n smiled as he realized the man was talking to the TARDIS.
The Doctor was so young… exactly as he had been for as long as Y/n had known him. It was a weird balance, the haunted man he’d seen in the future and the haunted man he saw now.
Rose was there only a second later, frowning with concern. “Y/n are you okay?”
Y/n stared at her too long. Maybe that’s why she had asked. But he just smiled wider and nodded. “I’m okay. Have I been out long?”
The Doctor had that look he always did when he was deeply displeased by something. “Four days.” He was worried and that was making him protective. Defensive even. Like he was ready for an argument.
Maybe Y/n would have argued before. He couldn’t remember, it felt ages away. All he could see now was that fragile man with the ancient eyes that were so tired. Even more than his Doctor. You couldn’t argue too much with that man, he might actually get upset. You had to count your losses where you could and be cleverer about the things that mattered. “I’m sorry you must have been so worried about me.”
“Worried?” Rose scoffed. “Y/n we were out of our minds. What happened back on the Bitter Pill?”
Y/n opened his mouth but then closed it. He looked at the Doctor and worked his jaw. “Whatever creature we faced was messing with everything attached to the psychic field. I think I found myself attached to it at some point. That’s probably how I’ve been so connected to everything since the beginning. Some very weak psychic abilities. Latent. My good instinct that leads us places, my intense empathic ability, how I even connected to all the Cybermen who died in the other universe.” He shrugged. “I turned it off.”
The Doctor’s eyes widened. “You what?”
Y/n rubbed the back of his neck. “Sorry, it’s confusing for me too. I don’t know if it’ll come back or what’s going on with me. I’m as confused as you are honestly.”
Rose pursed her lips. “Well. You kept passing out, and the way you connected to all that - it was terrifying. We couldn’t drag you around everywhere, if it had gotten really bad… I don’t know it-“
“You shouldn’t come traveling with us for a while,” the Doctor stated bluntly. “We need to see how this is affecting you a bit more long term before we risk your life again. Even if you don’t die, I will not lose you. Do you understand?”
Y/n nodded. “That makes sense. I’ll keep an eye over the TARDIS for a while.”
That surprised the Doctor. “I-“ He paused, trying to filter through that. “Y/n. May I scan your mind?” Y/n smiled and nodded, knowing the Doctor was being paranoid but also that he had every right to be. So Y/n sat and let the Doctor run all his tests. He even let the Doctor scan through his mind, tucking away the visions he’d seen when he was unconscious.
“Y/n,” the Doctor began. “You need to show me everything I need to make sure you’re okay.”
Y/n chuckled. “No I don’t. They’re visions of the future, Doctor. Spoilers.”
They were looking at each other, eyes open, so they could both see the other reacting to this situation. The patience Y/n had while waiting for the Doctor to accept that they both knew he had to drop it even as he fought it.
Finally the Doctor sighed. “Fine.” He leaned back. “What you saw changed you.” Y/n didn’t lie - he nodded. The Doctor frowned. “Should I be worried?”
“You’ll always be worried. But you’re right - I can’t be in the way. I may be immortal but you two are not. So go on your little adventures and I’ll rest. I need some time to myself anyway. It’s been a lot since this whole thing happened and I really haven’t had time to process it. So-“ he shrugged.
Rose hummed. “Let’s eat something. We can tell you what you missed.” Y/n got excited and hopped up, racing to the kitchen. Rose and the Do tor exchanged looks. There was something off about Y/n but perhaps some things would stay the same if he always got this excited for food. Everything else they could figure out later. For now they had stories to tell.

Pairing: Doctor Who (10th) x Male Reader
Style: Fluff
A/N: Sorry I've been gone so long guys, I've been very busy and had writers block! Also, my suggestions are still open ♡
~~~~~~~~
Y/n had been known the Doctor for over three years now. He'd met him not long after he'd regenerated, having seen Rose pass by and was now travelling with the Doctor and Donna. However, Donna had gone home to visit her family - mainly her grandad. So, it was just him and the Time Lord.
Y/n sighed to himself as he was sat in one of the infinite rooms of the TARDIS. The doctor was somewhere galavanting around the ship, so it was just him and the TARDIS.
"You know, sometimes I wish I could understand you as well as he does," y/n grumbled to himself, leaning back on the chair as he looked up at the ceiling.
He heard the iconic sounds of the TARDIS replying to him, making him smile. "You're always so kind to me, even if I don't understand you, you reply to the best of your ability," the man replies, a small smile on his face.
After a few more sounds, he starts to seem to understand what was being 'said'. He looks around confused, assuming the Doctor was walking past.
"Can you understand now?"
"What...?"
"I said, can you understand now, Y/n?" Y/n's eyes widened as he gawked. "From your reaction, I assume you can."
"How is this.. possible?"
"I mean, I'm a living organism that can translate all languages, so why is this not possible?"
"That.. weirdly makes sense," Y/n chuckles to himself, a wide smile on his face. "Thank you."
"You're very welcome, dear Y/n."
"Dear?" Y/n questions, raising an eyebrow.
There was silence for a second, before he heard the response, "Don't tell the others, but you're my favourite. Oh, and you shouldn't say that to the Doctor either. He may get jealous."
"Why would he get jealous?"
"He gets rather possessive."
Before y/n could reply, the Doctor walks into the room, a bright smile on his face. "Ah, there you are!" He looks him up and down and looks puzzled. "Why're you just sitting there not doing anything? At least read a book!" He mopes.
Y/n chuckles and smiles back at the doctor. "I was just having a conversation with the TARDIS."
"Well that must be boring," he replies, frowning. "C'mon, there's something I want to show you."
Y/n shrugs his shoulders, before getting up and following the doctor to the control room. The Timelord walked straight to the door and waits for his companion to catch up to him. He smiles at them, before opening the TARDIS doors.
Y/n's eyes widen and his mouth falls agape, before slowly walking through the door to look at the scenery closer.
The TARDIS had landed on a blue, grass field that stretched into the heavens, touching the lilac skies with stars that shined pink. The turquoise trees stretched high and danced in the soft breeze, with light blue fruit resting on the leaves.
It was an incredible sight, and introduced so many cool colours that Y/n adored. The Doctor leant against the TARDIS' doorframe, watching his companion's reaction, before pulling out a picnic blanket and basket from the entryway.
The Doctor lays out the picnic, before Y/n turns to look at him. He smiles brightly and joins the Doctor on the blanket.
"Thank you, this is lovely."
"Well, I know how much you love pretty scenery and some of these colours. Plus, you deserve a nice, peaceful break. After dealing with me for so long."
Y/n blushes softly at realising the Doctor had taken notice of the things he liked and sorted this all out for him. "I really appreciate this, Doctor."
"And I appreciate you," the Doctor replies, before smirking playfully at Y/n. "Now eat up! The food won't last forever!"
A Quiet Day With The Doctor
Warnings: None, fluff
Written with male reader in mind, but has gender neutral pronouns
The Doctor laid in his bed, covered in blankets and held a stuffed animal, a chinchilla to be exact. It was a gift Y/n won him at a fair not too long ago and the Doctor loved it with all his two hearts. Currently, it was held tightly against his chest as he laid on his side, eyes closed and head full of thought. Not bad ones, per say, just thoughts. A knock on his door interrupted his thoughts. Y/n slowly opened the door and peeked inside. “Are you sleeping?” They whispered. “I’m not sleeping, I’m thinking.” The Doctor answered back, his eyes still closed. “Looks to me like you're sleeping.” Y/n said as they entered the Doctor’s room. “Would it be such a crime if I was?” The Doctor opened one eye to see Y/n sit at the edge of his bed. “I think so, yeah.” “Why’s that?” “You never sleep, you even hate it when I sleep.” The Doctor rolled his eyes as he sat up. “Do you need something?” “Hey, I remember this!” Y/n grabbed the chinchilla and looked at him with found eyes. “I would hope so, you won it only a few months ago.” “Well, yea, I just didn’t think I’d see it here.” “Here? In my room? Where else would it be?” “I don’t know, you just don’t seem like you’d keep stuffies in a reasonable area.” “What’s that mean?” Y/n scooted back and sat against the headboard. “You seem like a man that would leave stuffies everywhere. In the kitchen, in the bathroom, in any place but where they would be deemed reasonable places.” “Where on earth did you get that from?” Y/n shrugged. The Doctor chuckled and shuffled back, leaning against the headboard as well. “I’ve never known you to like silence and being alone so what’s going on in that head of yours?” The Doctor shrugged. “Thoughts. Things.” “What sorts of thoughts and things?” “Everything and nothing.” Y/n just smiled. “You’re a strange one, Doctor.” “That I am indeed.” Y/n leaned their head on the Doctor’s shoulder and sighed. “I know you don’t particularly like slow, quiet days, but I was thinking we could have a break, just for the day.” “Sounds slow and quiet.” The Doctor smiled. “Yea I know, how boring.” Y/n joked. “I don’t see why not, seems I’ve been hit with the need of taking it slow and quiet for the day anyway.” “Is that why you were bundled up like a child during winter?” “Oi!” “What? It was cute.” The Doctor chuckled to play off the blush forming on his cheeks. “I’m not sure. The TARDIS seemed to think my room should be the first door I see today. Maybe she’s telling me she needs a break.” Y/n hummed. “Maybe. I thought something might be wrong, this is the first time I’ve seen your room.” The Doctor’s room was just about as you'd expect. There were books littered on his bedside table, on the floor, in his bed, and on a small desk in the corner. A small radio and some pens sat on the bedside table, and a few momentos from adventures were randomly placed around the room. “Really? Well, I can’t blame you, I don’t use it much if at all. Makes me wonder why the old girl has it in the first place really.” “For days like these, I think. Plus, if you didn’t have a room, where would you put Reginald?” “Reginald? No, no, no, his name is Alonzo, get it right.” The Doctor took the chinchilla back from Elliott and tucked it behind his crossed arms. Y/n chuckled. “My apologies, Doctor. If you didn’t have this room, where would you put Alonzo?” “Oh I don’t know, probably the kitchen, bathroom, or any other unreasonable spot.” Y/n laughed as the Doctor looked down at them with a soft look. He hadn’t been able to breathe so freely before, think so clearly, act so calmly in so long. Maybe Y/n was right, maybe the TARDIS made this room for days like these, for moments like this with his favorite person in the universe. “What say you and I grab a few books from the library, make some tea, and meet back here? This room’s gotta be used for something so why don’t we use it for us?” The thought of sharing a room with Elliott instantly crossed the Doctor’s mind, it left him embarrassed at the speed of which he had to shove it far, far away. “Sounds brilliant. I’ll make the tea, you grab the books?” “Sounds like a deal, space man.” “You know, you say that like it’s a nickname or insult, but you do realize you’re a spaceman now too, right?” Y/n thought for a minute. “Mr. and Mx. Space Man it is then.” Y/n hopped off the bed, leaving a very flustered Doctor.
The concept of sharing a last name with Y/n had crossed his mind before, but hearing it come from Y/n’s mouth had shook his hearts to their core. Of course, they didn’t say it seriously, if there was going to be any shared last name, it would have to be Y/n’s seeing as the Doctor is just that, the Doctor. He had a name once of course, but it had been so long since he uttered it let alone heard it that he accepted ‘Doctor’ as his one and only name. Maybe he would give himself a last name, secretly, just for the hope that one day he would have the strength to confess every hearts flutter, every stomach churn, every weakened knees. For the hope that one day, a few years after their first date, he would get on one knee and ask for Y/n to be his for however long they have left. The Doctor knew it was borderline hopeless, he was never one to openly talk about feelings that were his own and while he was great at giving advice, he never listened to it himself.
The Doctor shook his head, ridding his thoughts from his head as he went down to the kitchen to make tea. As he entered his room again, he noticed the lights dimmed and a few more stuffed animals, Y/n’s to be exact. “Welcome to Comfortville, Doctor.” Y/n said from the bed. They were leaned against the backboard again with a few books by their side. “It’s a pleasure to be here, Y/n.” The Doctor handed a cuppa to Y/n and sat next to them. He grabbed the first book and began reading as Y/n continued their book.
 Six books, five cups of tea, and a few hours later, Y/n was lying between the Doctor’s legs, head resting on his chest with a book in one hand and a stuffed animal cradled to their chest with the other hand. The Doctor was mindlessly combing his fingers through Y/n’s hair as he neared the end of book number 5. “Nearly finished, Starlight? Starlight?” The Doctor set his book down and stopped petting Y/n’s hair. Then, the unmistakable sound of soft snores filled the Doctor’s ears. He smiled as he realized Y/n fell asleep.
It was a finicky thing, sleep was. Sleeping can be affected by stress, mental health, physical health, and the environment around you. It was something the Doctor wasn’t particularly confused about, he just never really experienced it. Not to its full capability, at least. Sure, he’s taken short naps and slept that one time he regenerated, but he’s never dreamed or felt particularly energized afterwards. One thing he definitely knew about sleeping is that people never sleep in front of people they don’t trust or feel comfortable with. Unless you’re talking about people in New York, that’s a different story. That’s besides the point.
The Doctor felt pride bloom in his chest at the fact Y/n trusted him and felt comfortable around him enough to lay with him and fall asleep. After how much danger he got them in and how many injuries Y/n sustained because of him, they still trusted the Doctor. “I don’t deserve you…” The Doctor muttered, brushing some hair away from Y/n’s eyes. “And yet I have the undeniable urge to have you all to myself. Isn’t that odd? An old time lord desiring a human with their entire life ahead of them?” Of course, Y/n doesn’t answer, only light snores escaping their mouth. “I promise, no matter what, I will always protect you, you come first no matter who’s before me. I lo… I love you.” The Doctor leaned forward and pressed a tender kiss to the top of Y/n’s head. “Sweet dreams, Starlight.”
Show: Doctor Who.
Character: Tenth Doctor.
Reader: GN reader / gender not specified.
Summary: It's been a couple of hours since the Doctor arrived and this whole time he was alone at his TARDIS trying to leave. He lets you in and finally you both start to think why he's here.
The Prologue. [...] | Chapter Three | Chapter Four.
DREAMING
Tumblr media
Chapter Three
You were in the kitchen of your flat making a coffee and tea for you and the Doctor even though he didn't ask you for anything.
While waiting for the water to hot up you found yourself looking at the TARDIS. He was in there, the ship was definitely bigger on the inside and it could travel around space and time.
When you finished preparing the drinks you nervously walk towards the TARDIS. It was strange, it didn't feel like a dream anymore but it was hard to believe a show you watch is definitely real in another universe.
You sighed and looked down at your hands holding both cups.
"Damn" You couldn't knock the door. "Doctor!" You called out loud and waited a few seconds. "Doctor please, I made you some nice cup of tea I know it'll make you good" Silence.
The door opened by the Doctor without his iconic coat and you find it hard to not scream so you smile.
"Are you okay? You seem like you're trying to hide a stomach hurt or something like that" He says a bit confused by your attempt of smile and you stopped smiling. Boy you're embarrassed.
"Alright, rude. I made you tea" You hand him over the cup and he takes it.
"Sorry. Thank you" He looks at you with a shy smile. You watch him take a sip and open his eyes wide. "Amazing tea"
"Thank you! I make better coffee though" You let out a giggle and sigh then look inside the TARDIS. "How's it going?"
The Doctor looks up at you a bit confused (like he just didn't crash into another universe where his life is fictional) and then realize what you're talking about when he sees you looking inside.
"Oh, not very good. But I turned the power on, that's something. It's not letting me leave or put any coordinates really" He looks at you just the exact moment you take a sip of your coffee while looking down at the floor, frowning.
You are actually quite stressed, confused, sad and excited. Because this is real, he's there, the TARDIS there, you're spending time with him. You even made him a cup of tea! This is definitely the best time of your life. Your favourite character (and actor but you're still trying to make up your mind that he's not actually David) from your favourite show! You didn't want to leave this, you didn't want him to leave because you'd have to keep with your boring and routinely life.
"You can go in. If you like" You look up at him and a big smile appears in your face as he stands back.
You think for a few seconds if you should or not. Get in will change everything. Maybe you'll want to go with him an be his companion or not (being it is the most likely chance).
"Alright" Well, didn't take you much thinking apparently.
You stepped inside the TARDIS while taking a sip from the coffee to avoid biting your lip with excitement. You can feel the Doctor's gaze on you. It makes you feel nervous.
"Oh wow... it's..." Honestly? Speechless. It was everything you've been dreaming of, it looked so unbelievable, you really wanted to explore every corner of it.
Suddenly he walks to the control panel and starts touching some buttons. You felt a shiver down your back. Excitement, adrenaline. Oh, you really wanted him to take you somewhere to let you be his companion to have adventures together.
"Bigger on the inside?"
"No, yeah. I knew that already" You let out a laugh and look back at him. "I mean it's real"
"I told you I am" You can see a very tiny little smile on his face that makes you ven happier. "I can't make this work" He sighs. "Doesn't seem it wants to leave but why? Why would it want to stay here? Why can't I leave?" He murmurs to himself as he looks around the TARDIS.
You decide to no speak maybe to not interrupt him or think about possibilities. Maybe both. Or maybe just zoned out.
"Why here? Why you?" He looks at you and instantly realizes you're not paying attention to him. Yeah, zoned out then.
"I was... in fact, thinking about you" After a few long seconds of just standing there with the coffee and tea going cold you finally connected dots.
He looked right at you and walked towards you. "What?" His eyebrows were up and his eyes open wild.
"I was, uh, sweeping while imagining you and the TARDIS and adventures.. all that" You say nervously.
Oh god, I might've caused this, you thought, it's all my fault, he's stuck here because of me.
"What were you thinking? Can't be, anyways. Well it could be, I just travelled where I'm just a simple show. You brought me here. How? Why?"
"I don't know!"
Y/N: it's-
Doctor: Bigger on the inside?
Y/N: *Is nerding out flapping hands wildly*
Y/N: is bigger even a real word? I was going to say a pocket dimension because realistically -entertaining the idea that this is real- this blue box thingy is probably on another pane of existence or at least engineerd a way to expand this plane of existence.
Y/N: With the rudementry laws of physics broken so easily, I can only assume that this ship- or TARDIS as you call it- has the ability to change it's weight, size and appearance and traverse through the fourth dimension most commonly known as time?
Y/N: Ooooh, what power source do you use that could sustain this? Do you have, like, a star as the heart of this and you're constantly zapping it's energy? Or maybe it's like a pulsar constaly spinning? Oh! What about a black hole stuck in like an energy absorbing stasis feld?
Doctor: *Is shook*
Y/N: What?
Doctor: I need you to shut up.
Y/N: oh, ok. I'm sorry for-
Doctor: *pulls Y/N into a kiss*
You let go...
10th Doctor x Gender Neutral Reader
Tumblr media
The TARDIS materialized on an alien planet, its surface crackling with energy. The Doctor, in his signature brown suit and trench coat, grabbed your hand excitedly. "Ready for another adventure?" he grinned, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.
You grinned back, the thrill of the unknown always sending a rush through your veins. "Always, Doctor." His hand was warm in yours as you followed him out of the TARDIS and onto the vibrant, alien terrain.
The adventure unfolded, danger and excitement intertwined. You and the Doctor ran side by side, hand in hand, through narrow escapes and alien landscapes. His grip was firm, a reassuring anchor in the midst of chaos. The Doctor loved holding your hand, and you loved the feeling of connection it brought.
As you both sprinted back toward the TARDIS, escaping a particularly persistent group of extraterrestrial creatures, something shifted. The Doctor suddenly let go of your hand, and you continued running, the absence of his touch noticeable. Confused, you glanced forward at him, but he seemed focused on reaching the TARDIS.
Reaching the blue police box, you entered quickly, shutting the door behind you, leaning your weight on it. You look up towards the Doctor, he was running around the console, flipping switches and pressing buttons with practiced precision. The TARDIS hummed to life as it prepared for takeoff.
Once the ship was in flight, the Doctor finally stopped and turned to find you standing near the door, a pout on your lips. You were looking down at your hand, as if surprised by its sudden emptiness.
He approached you slowly, concern etching his features. "What's wrong, love?" he asked, his eyes searching yours.
"You let go," you said softly, the disappointment evident in your voice. The Doctor's expression softened, realizing the impact of his unintentional action.
"Oh, my love, I'm sorry," he said sincerely, reaching out to gently cup your cheek. He planted a tender kiss on your forehead, his lips lingering for a moment.
"I just... I like holding your hand," you admitted, a hint of vulnerability in your eyes.
The Doctor sighed, remorse flickering across his face. "I didn't mean to upset you. Sometimes, I get caught up in the rush of things, forgetful of the little details. But I never want you to feel neglected."
You smiled weakly, appreciating his honesty. "I know, it's just... it's nice, you know? Feels like we're facing everything together."
He nodded, understanding dawning in his eyes. "We are, and I promise to hold your hand through it all. No more letting go without a good reason, yeah?"
You nodded in agreement, and he took your hand again, intertwining his fingers with yours. The warmth and reassurance returned, and you felt a renewed sense of connection.
"Better?" he asked, a hopeful smile playing on his lips.
"Much better," you replied, leaning in to kiss him softly. The TARDIS hummed around you, carrying you both through time and space, hand in hand, into the next adventure.
Homesick (part 3)
I'm sorry if this is shorter than the others or at least I think it's shorter I really have no idea. it's worth it tho, I think. From the next I will go episode by episode maybe skip a few to add something like this but I will mostly follow the show. I loved the 60th special, Donna will always be my favourite;)
source: r/gallifrey (on reddit) it's a debate started by @/AnticitizenPrime, It's a great theory but I suggest you to check it out if you want after reading this.
◇ I don't necessarily believe the theories I use to write this fic are canon, they just inspired me to work on this. Do NOT take them as canon. treat theories ans headcanons as such.
♤ sorry for the mistakes, english is not my first language.
"Y/n didn't want to leave, he was watching a Christmas romcom with my mother" Rose jokes getting in the TARDIS, Y/n is behinds her and enters closing the door,
"I was waiting for them to kiss!" he says but realise it only makes his situation worse,
Rose chuckles pinching Y/n's cheek "ohh an hopeless romantic!" she teases him, Y/n can't respond to that, it is true, so he just moves on getting near the console, he feels like he understands the commands and how to guide the TARDIS, he does want to try but is almost afraid of doing so,
"can we stop by my house?" he asks looking at the hoodie he's been wearing for...well from the begging, not gonna lie it is a nice 'NASA' hoodie but it won't be as nice when it starts to stink.
"sure do, just not for too long" The Doctor answers turning to him with tiny grin, Rose tho realises something, she turns to Y/n clearly wanting to ask him something,
"when did The Doctor take you?" she asks, Y/n was there before her, she figured not too long before since the two men didn't knew eachother that well, she sees Y/n is not from her time, he doesn't fit in at all.
"uh 2023, november 21st, I believe" he says not totally sure about the date,
"2023? is that a good year?" she asks slightly curious
"uh, well..." he mumbles hesitating, it's not bad like 2020 still there are wars... but that's a detail he decided to keep for himself.
The TARDIS lands in the same alley it first appears, Y/n gets out feeling sick. Ugh this place, he just wants to pack some clothes and go off again but the other two have other plans that he doesn't know about yet.
He walks not really waiting for The Doctor and Rose who try to keep up with him, he frantically searches for the keys to his house, as soon as they turn the corner a fancy mansion is waiting for them, The Doctor and Rose look at Y/n surprised as he opens the big black gates which reveal the wide path with a green garden on the sides, it looks so expensive but well tooken care of.
"well you didn't mention you were rich" Rose walks fast reaching Y/n who shakes his head
"I'm not, my parents were. This is a family mansion, my great-great grandfather bought it, then my great grandfather passed it to my grandad and he passed it to my dad, when my dad died I inherited all; My sister life assurance, my mother life assurance, and last my dad's. This money come from loss and grief. How could I ever define myself rich?" it is a rhetorical question, he doesn't want an answer and Rose will surely not give him one, she looks at The Doctor who has not look away from the young man for one second, he is clearly thinking about what Y/n just said and maybe he's wondering something else too, too many coincidence happened after the regeneration, The Doctor doesn't want to address them yet and neither does Y/n but sooner or later they will have to, willingly or not, Rose will make sure of that.
They enter the mansion greeted by giant stairs not too far from the big front door, the inside aren't as old as the house looks from the outside, they actually look both aged and modern, it's a style that suits the place but not really Y/n's appearance.
"not bad, not bad at all" The Doctor speaks his mind looking at the place.
"not at all" Rose agrees scanning every angle of the entrance with her eyes.
"my house is your house...I guess.." Y/n shrugs telling them to do whatever they want. He sighs going upstairs with his hands in his pockets, for how much he hates this place is good to be at home.
Y/n sits on his bed, looking at his room, it's been the same since he was 14, same posters, stickers on the windows...Even the 'I want to believe' poster on the wall near his bed, he always loved space, all the drawings and pictures in his rooms make it clear, it's funny how now he is travelling in time and space like it's a short day trip, it almost makes him chuckle.
A knock on the door makes him quickly turn his head to see The Doctor leaning against the door frame, his eyes lightened as he looked at The Doctor.
"can I come in?" he asks putting his hands in his brown suit pockets, he took off his coat and left it somewhere in the house probably, The Doctor enters as Y/n nods him to come in, he looks around the space themed room amused by it.
"X-files, great show." The Doctor comments looking at the poster on the wall, and Y/n chuckles
"shame you're not a little green man," Y/n chuckles tilting his head and The Doctor almost smirks at the young man's little gesture, The Doctor always seems to appreciate the little tilt Y/n does but still scoffs at his comment
"last time I checked you were monkeys" he shors back and Y/n squints his eyes at him
"oh shut it you face changer" he says and The Doctor smirk sitting on Y/n's bed next to him.
"big place you have here" he says changing the subject, Y/n's face darkens a little
"empty tho" he points out looking up at the ceiling, there are little stars that glow in the dark attached to it, The Doctor notices them too before Y/n speaks breaking the silence
"you have a big place too" he points out, he then falls with his back on the bed, his hands resting on his chest for a split of a second before he quickly rests them on the sides of his body.
"not that empty anymore" The Doctor follows him with a smirk slowly reaching for the young man's hand, a little touch before fully holding it. Y/n chuckles turning his face to the man next to him, he gently rubs his knuckles, is a cute little moment between them, Y/n feels something in his stomach he never really felt before, or maybe he's just hungry.
"you know what happened to me before you regenerate" Y/n suddenly says, he didn't want to but he knew it was something to be said sooner or later.
"yep" The Doctor says popping the p, his mood dropped slightly but his hand is still holding Y/n's a little tighter,
"I lead 10 people to death, I didn't save them, I saved myself" he admits, his voice slightly broken
"that's what you were supposed to do, I couldn't bare the thought of loosing you Y/n." The Doctor reveals looking directly in the young man's eyes, he knows that comment is selfish, but it's the truth, he wants to know more about Y/n, about who he is or what he become.
"I fell in a time vortex" he realises ignoring The Doctor's comment, "I felt my body wither and die or age back to when I was born, my body shredded with the time winds I-" he stops biting his tongue before continuing "I touched every point in history, I'm there as I'm speaking, my head, it is filled with information I shouldn't have, it hurts." he lets out not noticing the tears running down his cheeks
"I can take it away" The Doctor says reaching the man's cheek with his free hand, he brushes his cheek wiping away a tear.
"don't you dare" Y/n says firmly, he can stand the pain, he wants that knowledge.
"what am I? am I like you now? will I regenerate? can I die at all? It's like a tango in my chest!" Y/n asks many questions as his mind runs in the thousands of possibilities.
"there was a legend in my planet, about the Timelords origin, someone says we are nothing but evolved humans, it's not proved, but you Y/n, you might have evolved in something closer." The Doctor brushes Y/n's hair away from his face, the room go darker and the stars on the ceiling started to glow, Y/n smiles and a light shaped as a star appeared on his face, this sight made The Doctor's hearts almost melt as well as Y/n's. They look at eachother and right there The Doctor thinks he found someone who will stay. They share a kiss, not stolen, not meaningless, not rushed; it's sweet, waited, slow, they both take their time, they then part they're silent for a second before Y/n breaks it.
"I want to drive the TARDIS with you" Y/n says not really asking more like demanding it. The Doctor laughs
"that's a lovely idea" he says trying to hide his excitement but failing miserably.
They both go down stairs after Y/n showered and packed most of his clothes. Rose is stealing Y/n's cereals wondering around the house eating loudly before stopping in the study.
"Is that your dad's study?" She asks taking a bite
"umh yea, he actually died in there, couldn't bare the loss of mom shortly after my sister. Couldn't keep the family going, what a pathetic little man." Y/n says not really interested in what's he's saying, he doesn't like his father, he was never at home, and when he was he was locked in his study till night time.
Rose closes the door feeling chills as she looks at the chair where he died. They then go in the living room and Y/n lights up a cigarette opening one of the windows.
"you know, all the men in my family died here, my great-great grandfather passed away in his sleep, my great grandfather died after a bee attacked him in the garden, my grandad was found dead in the library and my father in his study, both died of heart attack." he admits breathing the smoke in and out, it's been a while since the last cigarette, he needs it.
"let's hope you won't carry on that tradition." Rose mumbles a bit unsettled by this information
"let's go shall we?" The Doctor says looking at both of his companions.
They leave the masion getting in the TARDIS leaving the bags with his clothes in his room, it's smaller than the one in the mansion but still pretty, he got the stars on the ceiling of his own room to attach them in this one, and the 'I Want To Believe' poster of course.
As he goes back in the main room The Doctor is patiently waiting for him near the console with a wide grin on his face. Y/n smiles at the man rushing to the console while Rose is on the phone with her mother, Y/n doesn't know what they're talking about but it's clearly something Rose doesn't care about.
The Doctor carefully explains how the comands work and what they are for, Y/n already knows something, watching The Doctor driving helped him even if he never really watched the control as much as he watched The Doctor.
The man looks at Y/n starting to drive the TARDIS "watch closely if you want to learn" Y/n smirks tilting his head slightly which makes The Doctor quickly look away.
"I'm watching" he says in a casually flirty tone to which The Doctor responds with a glance
Hello, so I'm new to this app. I thought I'd expand my writing and use it as well as publishing my work on Wattpad. I recently wrote a couple of Marvel soulmate books as well as some video game based fanfics. I am very into the idea of writing crossovers like Marvel x Doctor Who or Doctor Who x Harry Potter which is a fandom I haven't fully got into yet but I am gradually, pls don't hate on me. When I do start posting some fics I'll see about taking requests, I've never done that before but I am open to the idea.
