Future daughter in law ? Did she just address you as that? Did she just accept you as one of her own, as the one for loki ? Loki smiles as he hears his mother "ma, since this is your first visit in centuries, I'm gonna take you and show you some beautiful midgardian sights, and you have never been in a midgardian automobile right?"frigga nods her head in no and loki giggles "you will love it, though I'm not entirely sure about the congestion, y/n hates it" he chuckles. Once out of the tower loki takes out his car and you sit with frigga on the backseat while loki drives. "Tell me y/n, how did my aloof and bashful son managed to win your heart?" She asks the same question she asked loki "ma no, please, atleast not in front of me" he looks at you from the mirror and you give him a smile while frigga gives him the motherly look you give when your kid is being out of line "I don't know much about that, because when I met him, he was really nice and sweet and we became good friends very quickly, he is the kindest most loving man I have ever met, he didn't really have to do much to win me over" you giggle and she smiles.
"Im so joyous that you feel so y/n, I'm very proud of the man he has become since he arrived on midgard and I also know how you have helped him be the best version of himself, could never thank you enough" she squeezes your hand and you tear up, she's so kind, no wonder loki is how he is, he was raised by a woman like her. "You never have to thank me, I'm truly blessed to have him in my life, he has changed my life in ways I never could have imagined for myself" you smile and you feel Loki's eyes on you, he knows that voice, he knows that look, you're so happy it's making you all emotional. But he never likes to see tears in your eyes.
Before frigga can answer he speaks "As much as I love the appreciation I'm receiving from my most precious women, can you both kindly do it in my absence?" You chuckle as you hear him and he gives you a smile. Loki first took you both to see the empire state building because why not and then he took frigga and you somewhere he knew his mother would enjoy, a museum. Loki brought you once here before and he was so eager to know more about the history behind several midgardian artifacts, his mother shared his interests and they had a really good time together. After you're all done with enough sightseeing for the day, he takes you both for lunch and frigga enjoyed every midgardian cuisine loki ordered for her "midgardian cuisines have such variety" she mumbles as she feeds a bite of her pasta to lo and then she offered you.
All of you were almost out of the restaurant when Some people recognised loki , his face is everywhere these days because of the case, so they approached him to take pictures. "I'm such a huge fan loki, and I'm rooting for you" she says as if loki was a participant on the dancing with the stars. She asks you to take a picture of them both, and when she found out about frigga she wanted a picture with her too. Most of the times his "fans" ignored your existence and that's how you liked it. You wouldn't want them to be jealous of you or end up as the person they hate on his fanclubs or on gossip websites "Is this a norm here my child" frigga asks you and you nod.
When you three come back to the compound you are greeted by thor, he visits Asgard now n then unlike loki, he hasn't been there since new york incident. Thor decided to not bring him to the allfather as he sensed something wasn't right with him. "You two are hogging all the attention from mum" thor complains like a child and loki chuckles "are you envious brother?" He asks and thor just shruggs. "Actually I have had enough of you two and I would like to talk with y/n in private" frigga says and they both groan, they are acting like such kids , you wouldn't believe they are supposed to be gods and stuff. Your heart breaks when you think of how these loving brothers went through such rough times after loki found out about his heritage, frigga never wanted to feed him lies but ultimately it was upto Odin. You wonder if he'll be as kind to you as frigga is.
She takes you to her room and you both sit down on the Ottoman next to her window. Your nerves subsequently calmed down during the day as she's one of the nicest person you have ever met. "You want to see Loki's childhood images?" She asks and you smile "I would love it, he has never shown me " you thought she would show you photographs but she just waves her hands and you see it in front of you like a hologram " there is loki as an infant and you awwed audibly as you see him "Adorable isn't he? This is the day Odin brought him to me" you smile as she continues to showcase different pictures of him from different stages of his life. "This is thor and loki after the horse riding lessons" you smile as you look at his boyish features "he still have the same smile, so pure" you mumble and she smiles "I love both of them equally but loki always had been the one i worried about the most, not doubting his capabilities or his bravery but he stayed alot to himself even as a child, thor was always the lively one, he had his peers he hung around with while loki would just get himself engrossed in his books, away from everyone and everything, didn't help when everyone would try and pit them against each other, his father and thor casts such large shadows, that's why I shared my gift with him so he could find some sun for himself" she tears up a little and you squeeze her hand assuringly
You feel grateful that loki atleast had a mother like her in his life, the thought of him having no friends and always being under Thor's shadow wounds you deeply, you both lived such lonely lives till you found each other and now that you have him you'll never let him feel that way again "He loves you more than anything and he has evolved so much since he came here, he always was the good one, he may have lost his way somewhere but he have made redemptions for his mistakes and he is doing his absolute best, everyone is so proud of him, he's so rare and special" you tell her as you tear up too and she kisses your forehead "I see why he's so taken with you, you see through him, you see his pain and you never judge him. That's all he has ever needed, you're an amazing young woman y/n, I'm glad he chose you as his partner" she hugs you and you can't help it but sob, you have never had a motherly figure in your life and you never felt as if you missed having one until you saw her and loki together.
"Can I come in please?" You both hear a knock at the door and it's loki. He steps in and he looks at your tear stained face and starts worrying "princess you okay?" He walks upto you and you nod "never been better" you smile and it makes him feel better and he sits next to frigga "my dearest mama, what did you say to her, look at her" he asks like a child as puts his arm around her and pecks on her cheek, but his eye are glued on you. She gives a little laugh and you do too "it's confidential, it will stay between me and my daughter" she says and you could have cried right there. Your bliss doesn't last very long as you hear another knock on the door. It's thor "mum lady sif is here, you gotta get back to Asgard, king requires your presence" you see frigga rolling her eyes at that, she's leaving so soon? "Ma no you were supposed to stay for 2 days at the least" Loki's voice had sadness in it as he finds out "I know my love, I'll be back I promise, I'll be here for you on the day of the court proceedings"
She turns to you and she conjures a bracelet of sorts in her hands "I didn't get anything for you but think of it as a little welcome gift, I'll see you both soon, take care of each other will you?" You nod and all of you get back to the living room, where thor was conversing with sif , her eyes spots frigga and she bows down "all mother, king requires your utmost presence, he sent me to retrieve you safely off this planet" she speaks, and frigga nods. She is beautiful and looked very strong like a warrior. "Causing more troubles mischief?" She glares at loki and he rolls his eyes "good to see you too sif" he smirks and it was her turn to scoff. You watch them both having a staring contest, they have a chemistry, you wonder what's that about. Frigga hugs everyone before she leaves, it hasn't even been a day since she arrived but you know you're going to miss her. Once they leave, you feel Loki's hands intertwining with yours "as much as I'm gonna miss ma, I'm glad to have you all to myself" he kisses your forehead and you smile.
"What was that about? You and sif ?" You question him and he looks around "nothing at all princess, it's nothing important" he mumbles and you give him a look "we had a little thing in the past but it's way back in the past" he admits and you just knew something was there, you could always tell "I thought you never had a serious relationship" you ask him and he chuckles "it wasn't a relationship princess, we just had sex once, and then I cut her hair and she's been scorned ever since" your eyes widen at the statement "you cut her hair lo? Why would you do that baby?" You can't imagine loki being like that with a girl, it's kind of mean. You both start walking towards his room as he continued to talk "sif is one of Thor's best mates but she has always wanted thor more than just a friend, his friends never gave me the time of the day unless they wanted to mess with me, sif lost a bet against fandral, his other mate, and she had to sleep with me, so she did what she had to do and I did what I did" he chuckles and you want to laugh too but you're just hurt, you don't know how he felt about sif prior to that but its must not be a nice feeling to get used like that for a bet.
You reach his room and you both get inside "Did you like her before that?" You ask him and he nods in no "I was attracted to her but then at that age I was attracted to almost everyone who wasn't related to me, she's not important to me in case you're running your pretty little head over it" he kisses you softly and you cup his cheeks with your hands. He lifts you up and sits down on his couch with you on top of him "mmm princess" he mumbles and you know that voice, he needs affection and he needs hell alot of it "what sweet baby?" You ask him as you smile, he's just so adorable when he gets like that. "Princessss" he mumbles again and you kiss his forehead "whatttt?" You tease him, and he whines as pleads you with his eyes "mmmm missed you, touch me please, need kisses and hugs" you can never deny him when he asks you like that, you hug him tightly as you wrap your arms around his waist, and put your neck between the crook of his neck, you suck on the soft skin and he moans as throws his head back on the couch "that good sweet baby?" You mumble "so good my pretty princess, always so good to me" he caresses your hair and he kisses your cheek as he tucks a strand of your hair behind your ears then you feel his lips on yours as he kisses you soft and slow, so slow as if he's trying to savor you, not with lust but with love, pure love. You kiss him slowly and you unbutton his shirt, you need to feel his skin.
He moans at the contact, you're so soft and gentle with him, it makes him want to melt in your arms and stay by your side every second of his life, "princess?" He mumbles and you hum "what do you need my sweet baby, you know I'll give you everything right ?" You look him right in his big innocent eyes and he leans his head down on the couch"Can you rub me there please? Don't want to cum, just need to feel princess" he asks politely, always so polite, he hides his face between the crook of your neck "You just had to ask sweet baby" your hands proceed to unbutton him but he stops you "mmmmhm just like that princess" he keeps your palm over his hardness and you understand what he means, he just wants you to feel him like this. So you do, your hands caress over his clothed hard cock while your mouth explores his, sweet moans erupting from him whenever you squeeze him a little. The longer you pleasure him like this, the more he falls into his space "you like this sweet love? Love being felt up like this don't you babyboy?" He whines desperately at the pet name and bites your shoulder to stop himself from sobbing. You stop touching him and you pull his head back on the couch, his eyes are so glassy, his cheeks flushed, his hair unruly because of your fingers between them. You have never seen someone so beautiful, you can't believe he allows himself to be yours solely.
"Have you ever done this before lo? Ever let someone touch you so intimately that you're floating in your head?" You question and all of a sudden he's not looking at you and you hate that, shouldn't have asked. "Requested Carla once" he mumbles and god you hate the woman so much, whatever he's going to say is not going to help "what happened then babylove?" The thought of her touching him like this makes you enraged with jealousy, nobody deserves to see him like this. He squeals at the petname, each one of them makes his heart skip a beat "she ..umm..made ..fuun" he looks at you and sniffs a little as his eyes tears up more and it breaks your heart, but that would be an understatement, you're completely shattered, what kind of monster does that? Did she not feel anything at all for him? How do you hurt someone who look like this and behaves like this when he needs affection and gentleness. You cup his cheeks and kiss him softly, you want him to forget, want him to forget about that moment.
"I'm sorry baby, shouldn't have asked, you're so good so beautiful, so adorable when you get like this you know that right? I can stay like this forever with you" you mumble in between the kisses and he nods "thank you princess, so loving, so sweet to me" he sucks a mark on your neck and you hug him tightly, your hips moving involuntarily over his crotch. "All mine, love you so much princess, you love me?" He asks you, you love him so much you'd die for him "so much baby, more than anything, you're going to cum like this okay, just like this, you wanted to feel baby? Feel it" you command as you increase the pace of your hips and he nods "yess please my princess, will do everything you ask, everything you need, I'm your man, you're mine right" he mumbles, his voice so soft, so low , so far gone in his head. "You're mine my sweet little baby, god you're killing me lo, you're killing me with this, I just want to ruin you even further, cum whenever you want, make a mess in there lo" you keep your hands on the either side of his head as you pick up the speed, his hands on your hips helping you to move "yes please, I need to be ruined by my princess, gonna cum sweet y/n, wanna make a huge mess for you" he moans your name as he let go and you can't hold back anymore either, the sound of his voice, the look on his face, his grip on your hips, that's enough to drive you over the edge.
You hold him tightly as he drives through his high, his head between your neck, your fingers massaging his scalp. Once you feel his breathing come down you call for him "Lo baby you there?" You ask softly and he puts his head up to look at you "mmm here" goddamn him and his cuteness have no limits. "Let's get cleaned up Okay?" you ask him and he blushes "princess" he whines and it makes you giggle. You both get showered and change out of your clothes, you clean his boxers and your panties and hang it to dry. Then he puts you in his clothes just because he can and he loves seeing you like that. And you love wearing his clothes, it just smells so good like him. "You know when we were apart I used to sleep in your shirts" you smile at him as you see him fixing his freshly showered hair in the mirror "you did? Did it make you feel better?" He asks softly, those four months he spent away from you will always come back to haunt him, thought of you being so alone and hurt makes him want to suffocate you with so much affection that you'd forget all about it. "it always did, it felt like you were hugging me" when he's done with his hair he walks up to you and pulls you in by grabbing your shoulders "what does my princess needs now?"
You both spent the day glued to each other, and you had to work next morning so he takes you back home, during that week you felt so happy, his mother likes you, the trial is on next week. You both were just hanging out on your couch, in your usual position, your feet in his lap while you laid down the other side. You received a link from wanda and open it, shouldn't have. There was a picture of loki with some girl outside a private club of sorts, Tony took him there last week for some meeting. "We totally did it that night hashtag best sex ever" other people were commenting and squealing under the picture, calling her lucky bitch n stuff like that, more like lying bitch. However there was one comment that caught your eyes "she so didn't, he have a girlfriend, they both visit the restaurant I work at very often, he's grossly in love with her even though she ain't anything special in comparison to him" you had no idea how to feel about that comment, should you be happy she defended Lo or sad that she insulted you "Lo look at this" you pass him your phone and his eyes widened as he read the caption.
"I know nothing happened lo, baby you don't have to worry" you know he would never cheat on you like that, he could never hurt you that way "I'll never break your trust in me princess, I would die before I do that" he says to you and you smile "I know sweet baby but don't die please" you giggle and it makes him smile. When he read that comment that bothered you he felt upset, why would someone look at you and say that, he was taken with you ever since the first meeting, you're the most special girl in the universe for him . Midgardian people are so petty sometimes, he can't wait to take you to Asgard where you'll be respected and loved like you deserve to be. Like a princess you were born to be.
You get up to make tea for you both when he gets a call from Tony to watch the news so he turns on the tv.
"In the current news, lawyer Carla Davidson who accused Loki Odinson for domestic violence and was later charged with defamation suit is apparently missing for a week now, her mother tried to contact her while her friends and family members also tried to reach out to her but her phone was out of reach, she was last seen getting inside her apartment and then she just vanished, there are no security footage of her coming out or anyone entering her apartment, she just disappeared into thin air, when cops broke into her apartment, there were no signs of struggle, the case was supposed to be on trial on 26th but with Carla missing the date might change"
Loki looks at you as he hears the news , he can't believe this, it's been three weeks since he visited her and if she was doing fine then what happened with her? Who did this?
"What is this lo, what's happening? You ask him and he shakes his head "I have no idea princess, wait my lawyer is calling me" he picks up the call and he was called for an urgent meeting regarding the case "princess you have off tomorrow right? Can you come with me and stay in the tower? it just doesn't feel safe leaving you here alone" he asks you and you nod. You pack your necessities and he starts driving towards the tower. You can see him lost in his thoughts so you rub his shoulder assuringly. Where is she? Why would she disappear like this? There were so many questions running around in your head, you guys were so close to having justice.
When you reached the tower, you're greeted by wanda and thor, you give wanda a hug and she takes you with her as loki will have to be at the meeting "I'll see you soon princess" he kisses you and you smile "don't stress too much okay?" You mumble and he nods before you leave. He didn't leave your hands untill wanda glared at him. When you're out of sight thor pulls loki aside with him.
"it's her behind Carla's disappearance" thor says to loki in a quiet hushed tone as he looks at him.
"Don't you dare accuse her like that, she did nothing" loki defends you quickly.
"Not lady y/n, loki"
"Who are you talking about thor?" He huffs
"Mother"

I finds it funny when ppl say thingz like 'evil eye womt protect you it's just glass' 'crystals don't work it's just rocks' 'herbs don't have power it's just a plant' like yes buddy I know truly only G-d decides fate and we have no protector other than Him in the end..
I just want to do a Lil thought exercise.. what has Any meaning unless We Give meaning and significance To it? For example:
If you had something important to u, whether it be a gift from a loved one, a relic or artifact, an object of familial inheritance or that was passed down to you, or anything really that would seem unimportant &small to others but means a lot to you personally.. and I asked you to smash it or throw it away.. would you?
human beings decorate their short lives with meaning, we create our history book and the timeline of our existence by the objects that we associate with a specific period of life. I hang my evil eye that my boyfriend got for me and pray that its gaze protects him from harm as well, and I keep my old journals, my old sketchbooks, the dried flowers that I picked on a good sunny day, I hold onto the notes my friends write for me, I save the crystals and rocks I collect on road trips with my grandma and the birthday cards she wrote in because I love her and she makes me feel loved, I could throw them away to save space but I don't want to. I want to be reminded of the love and meaning in my life. Yes, To You, those objects hold no value, but those are not just objects to me, they are tangible physical evidences That I Was Alive, that I was really here, and in that time I loved and was loved in return. I want to genuinely appreciate all the sweet, glorious, and Very Temporary blessings that I am able to pack into my life before I meet my Creator, and when I do, I'm going to thank Him for making this life so full, colorful, and beautiful.
"Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being? Declares the Lord-"
Isaiah 66:2

Part 4: The Seven Wonders (2 of 2)
She wanted to lash out, to drag him into the nearest body of water and drown him. Disrespect was something she had no experienced in so long, it made her burn brightly. Tenebrae wanted to intervene on the matter, but higher powers were unraveling truths to the old being.  There were rules that came along with the new found information, one of most importance, it could not kill the boy. There was a greater purpose for his soul.
Dreams are often either ones forgotten by morning light or drag one’s soul through hell. This was the latter, she was witnessing a horrible moment of her childhood. Her rabbit was being killed by her cruel step father, who found the poor creature in her small room. Each time she tried to stop it, the scene would become farther from her grasp. She could hear the cries and screams of agony from her younger self. The dream shifted and distorted to a different scene, her first witnessing. The birth of a lamia, who had recently given up her virtue. An older warlock possessed by Tenebrae was the sacrifice. It was a beautiful scene, but the face of the warlock became the face of the boy who’d tried to take her virtue from her when she was a girl. He was burning in the fire pit as she and other lamia’s chanted old latin spells. They danced and laughed as he charred, a true haunting justice.
Cold sweat covered her face as she awoke, it was still dark out. She couldn’t go back to bed however. The adrenaline from what she had to relive was terrifying her. Taking her robe, she went in search for a library or entertaining room hoping to distract herself from the resurgence of images from the harrowing dream. She was due to preform the seven wonders in a matter of hours. How could she preform if there was any sort of fear in her being, “daughter those were dreams. They cannot hurt you, unless you let them become real for a moment.” She found a room filled with spirits and fine wines from different years. Taking a red wine dated from 1893, she filled a glass to the mid part. There were comfortable seats with crushed velvet upholstery.
Taking a shaky drink, she narrowed her eyes at the ceiling knowing it was present. “I have to present my gifts on command and you choose this time to remind me that I can make my horrors a reality? How unforgiving,” The being then took the form of an elderly man, “I apologize my daughter. I only remind you as you will need me there for certain things, or am I wrong?” Of course it was correct, to teleport through time required a certain stamina only Tenebrae possessed. “You’re right, but you don’t have to egotistical.” She laughed softly, the elderly man smiled. They were interrupted abruptly though, “this is Stark’s private bar.” It was James.
Bucky saw her sat next to some old man. The old man’s stare made him feel uneasy, “relax. It’s simply Tenebrae morphed into an elderly man for some reason.” He was still unsure of this girl demon or whatever she was. “You should go back to your room,” the elderly man sighed. “I will let you talk to this boy, I have other matters to see to. Call for me when I am need Noctua,” she nodded and it disappeared into a small gust of air. “James, I do hope I don’t frighten you.” She said almost mockingly. “Don’t ever call me that name again. Bucky will do, and i’m not scared of some little girl possessed by some demon.” She finished her wine and stood up, “little girl? I have lived life times in decades. I have seen far greater reaches of life and the afterlife. I am not possessed I was blessed with my gifts because I earned them. Tenebrae is not some demon, Tenebrae saw the creation of all you know that exists today. It even molded the ground you step on. You will respect me, or I will not hesitate to truly show you fear. Bucky.” She snarled his name, walking off to her quarters once more.
He wasn’t just angered, he felt embarrassed. Who did she think she was? She killed people for sport, she lived like a savage before they retrieved her. A little girl with an attitude and some words that rhymed, that was all she was to him. Fear her? He could destroy her if he wanted to.
A shining sun filled the training room created for, it was quite large and empty. Steve had taken her to it, “do you think this will be good enough for you to display your powers?” She smiled, “of course it will be. Thank you,” he nodded and then those who wanted to view began entering. Tony of course had to see it, “hope I made it in time. Did we start yet?” She looked at Steve, “this is Tony Stark, he-” “I’m the billionaire who created the Avengers-” “He did not create the Avengers, he just complained his way in.” A third person said, “I’m Nick Fury, I formed this group, years ago.” She nodded, “is there anyone else who is coming today?” The men shrugged.
With that, they began. First was telekinesis which was easy to show. The video camera that was recording her suddenly was dragged to her grasp without anyone moving it. Concilium or mind control was also fairly easy, she made Steve do a fox trot with Tony. It was quite amusing. Vitalum Vitalis or the balancing scales of one life with another, was difficult to master, but she had and she proved it by bringing a dead hummingbird back to life. Divination was interesting, “in a room somewhere on the compound is Steve’s compass, in it a picture of his old love. Which room is it in?” A glance at her palm was all it took, “he usually keeps it in his office. You’ve chose to throw me off, it is in the bar room on the third floor.” Tony took his computer pad and showed the compass placed on the table of the bar room. It was impressive.
They had gone through almost all without realizing that Bucky was watching. Pyrokensis was interesting, he watched as she set half the room on fire in the shape of a swan. He listened as they reached the final wonder, “transmutation?” She nodded, “it’s teleportation really. Watch,” she suddenly disappeared. “Hi Bucky,” he screamed punching the wall behind him, but she was gone. Now she was in front of Steve laughing. Fury rolled his eyes, “okay you had your fun, but now show us the teleportation between realms, time, and alternate universes.” She became serious again.
The air grew cold for a moment, the entity was now in the room. “This is Tenebrae, it gave me the ability to travel through all those different dimensions. It must help me-” “you mean possess you?” Bucky scoffed, “yes actually. It is the only way I’ll remain conscious through the travel.” Fury nodded, “can you take someone with you?” She never had, “I- i’m not sure.” The being spoke then, “she can. My strength allows me to take many-” “just one, to assure this is true.” Reading Steve’s mind, she found him actually afraid to do it. “Stark?” He shook his head, “sorry it’s a risk I’m not willing to take. My will is still being rewritten.” Bucky rolled his eyes, “i’ll do it. To prove it’s a hoax.” A thunderous laugh echoed through the room.
It was simple really, one artifact from the past, as well as alternate pasts/futures., and something to prove she went to a different realm. Tenebrae waited for it’s daughter to signal for it to begin the take over. She warned them first, “it isn’t pretty. You may want to look away.” Bucky thought she was lying, but then she began to contort. Her eyes were pitch black for a moment, he had never seen the human body twist and turn in such horrifying ways. He couldn’t look away, she was in mid-air, bones cracking, and eyes still filled with black. Then she wasn’t, her pupils went from gold to olive green. “Let’s go, you can all look now.” She grabbed his hand in hers, “we’ll be back!” That was the last thing she said before they traveled to a different time.
A home, a small house with vintage- these were not vintage. He looked down, the floor was checkerboard and he was wearing a suit. She had on a mini dress, this was the sixties, something felt off though. “Who’s home is this?” She didn’t answer, instead she led him to the front door where a newspaper was waiting to picked up. it read 1967 and John F. Kennedy was on his second term, civil rights movements were dying down as he’d made good work of ending the segregation era of the nation. Charles Manson had been arrested for his cult, this was the alternate future. The one where the good guys lived. Before he could get a second to enjoy it, they were gone.
It all looked like the present except for the way some words were written. She lead him to a magazine, the date read 2058, they were two decades into the future. This future had no mention of the avengers or heroes. “What’s going on?” She looked at him, “in this universe heroes never existed. There was never a need for them. Everything was resolved without the creation or need for them. They hide their powers or are allowed to exist as is and use their powers as a way of earning wage.” Again as she said that, they were else where.
He was wearing a leather coat with fringe and denim jeans. She was dressed in a long white dress and sandals. “This is our 1970s, ya know with the super heroes and all that.” He followed her through someone’s garden, “Stephanie!” He heard her call out, and then a blonde woman appeared from the house, “little owl, you’ve come back.” The two met in a hug, “this is my friend Bucky, he’s a vet.” The blonde woman nodded leading them inside the home. They drank tea and she sang to them, her husband playing the guitar. He hadn’t even noticed that she’d disappeared for a moment. She apologized for them having to leave so soon, but thanked her friend for the kind welcome.
Their own future. He knew it was theirs because Tony was on a billboard and people recognized him. She bought coffee’s for them and kept the receipt knowing it had the date and with that they left. He couldn’t believe it was real, that he was experiencing this. The last stop was this odd planet with odd fruit, she grabbed one quickly and sent them to present.
Once in their present she dropped all the proof on the ground and ran to the back of the room. He went after her, “please stay back.” Her voice sounded pained. Soon the contortions and black pools of nothingness came back. It was leaving her, he felt awful for her pain. When it was gone, her eyes were gold again, her body fell to the floor. “Noctua!” Steve ran to her side, she looked feeble.
Tenebrae felt awful for causing her pain. It never aimed to do so, but it was a long trip through space and time. She knew it would not be a fair toll on her body. It had to be done though, the boy was showing care for her. It’s work so far was going well. Quickly and smoothly it spoke to her, “rest my child. I must go, you will awaken in the morning.” As the medics came and took her to the hospital bay of the compound, Fury and Stark examined the artifacts.
Bucky was kept as he was the witness, Steve promised him with updates on her. The men listened as he explained everything, including the vinyl he didn’t know she stole off her friend, apparently it was a rough cut of some popular album. It was terrifying, that she could do such things. He was wrong, she was capable of more than he thought.

“So you must be sure to keep the message burning in your hearts;
that is, the message of life you heard from the beginning.”
A line from Today’s reading of the Scriptures from the New Testament Letter of First John
and the whole chapter:
You are my dear children, and I write these things to you so that you won’t sin. But if anyone does sin, we continually have a forgiving Redeemer who is face-to-face with the Father: Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
Here’s how we can be sure that we’ve truly come to know God: if we keep his commands. If someone claims, “I have come to know God by experience,” yet doesn’t keep God’s commands, he is a phony and the truth finds no place in him. But the love of God will be perfected within the one who obeys God’s Word.
We can be sure that we’ve truly come to live in intimacy with God, not just by saying, “I am intimate with God,” but by walking in the footsteps of Jesus.
Beloved, I’m not writing a new commandment to you, but an old one that you had from the beginning, and you’ve already heard it. Yet, in a sense, it is a new commandment, as its truth is made manifest both in Christ and in you, because the darkness is disappearing and the true light is already blazing.
Anyone who says, “I am in the light,” while holding hatred in his heart toward a fellow believer is still in the darkness. But the one who truly loves a fellow believer lives in the light, and there is nothing in him that will cause someone else to stumble. But whoever hates a fellow believer lives in the darkness—stumbling around in the dark with no clue where he is going, for he is blinded by the darkness.
I remind you, dear children: your sins have been permanently removed because of the power of his name.
I remind you, fathers and mothers: you have a relationship with the One who has existed from the beginning.
And I remind you, young people: you have defeated the Evil One.
I write these things to you, dear children, because you truly have a relationship with the Father. I write these things, fathers and mothers, because you have had a true relationship with him who is from the beginning. And I write these things, young people, because you are strong, the Word of God is treasured in your hearts, and you have defeated the Evil One.
Don’t set the affections of your heart on this world or in loving the things of the world. The love of the Father and the love of the world are incompatible. For all that the world can offer us—the gratification of our flesh, the allurement of the things of the world, and the obsession with status and importance—none of these things come from the Father but from the world. This world and its desires are in the process of passing away, but those who love to do the will of God live forever.
Dear children, the end of this age is near! You have heard that Antichrist is arising, and in fact, many enemies of Christ have already appeared, and this is how we know that we are living in the closing hour of this age. For even though they were once a part of us, they withdrew from us because they were never really of our number. For if they had truly belonged to us they would have continued with us. By leaving our community of believers they made it obvious that they never really belonged to us.
But the Holy One has anointed you and you all know the truth. So I’m writing you not because you don’t know the truth, but because you do know it, and no lie belongs to the truth.
Who is the real liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ. He is the real antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever rejects the Son rejects the Father. Whoever embraces the Son embraces the Father also. So you must be sure to keep the message burning in your hearts; that is, the message of life you heard from the beginning. If you do, you will always be living in close fellowship with the Son and with the Father. And he himself has promised us the never-ending life of the ages to come!
I’ve written these things about those who are attempting to lead you astray. But the wonderful anointing you have received from God is so much greater than their deception and now lives in you. There’s no need for anyone to keep teaching you. His anointing teaches you all that you need to know, for it will lead you into truth, not a counterfeit. So just as the anointing has taught you, remain in him.
And now, dear children, remain in him, so that when he is revealed we may have joyful confidence and not be ashamed when we stand before him at his appearing.
If you know that he is righteous, you may be sure that everyone who lives in righteousness has been divinely fathered by him.
The Letter of 1st John, Chapter 2 (The Passion Translation)
Today’s paired chapter of the Testaments is the 5th chapter of 2nd Chronicles where the sacred Ark of the Covenant is brought into the inner room of the Temple and the glory of God (in Spirit) filled the Temple, just as we welcome the entrance of the Spirit of our Creator (the True illumination of the Son) into our own:
That completed the work King Solomon did on The Temple of God. He then brought in the holy offerings of his father David, the silver and the gold and the artifacts. He placed them all in the treasury of God’s Temple.
[Installing the Chest]
Bringing all this to a climax, Solomon got all the leaders together in Jerusalem—all the chiefs of tribes and the family patriarchs—to move the Chest of the Covenant of God from Zion and install it in The Temple. All the men of Israel assembled before the king on the feast day of the seventh month, the Feast of Booths.
When all the leaders of Israel were ready, the Levites took up the Chest. They carried the Chest, the Tent of Meeting, and all the sacred things in the Tent used in worship. The priests, all Levites, carried them. King Solomon and the entire congregation of Israel were there before the Chest, worshiping and sacrificing huge numbers of sheep and cattle—so many that no one could keep track.
The priests brought the Chest of the Covenant of God to its place in the Inner Sanctuary, the Holy of Holies, under the wings of the cherubim. The outspread wings of the cherubim formed a canopy over the Chest and its poles. The ends of the poles were so long that they stuck out from the entrance of the Inner Sanctuary, but were not noticeable further out—they’re still there today. There was nothing in the Chest itself but the two stone tablets that Moses had placed in it at Horeb where God made a covenant with Israel after bringing them up from Egypt.
The priests then left the Holy Place. All the priests there were consecrated, regardless of rank or assignment; and all the Levites who were musicians were there—Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun, and their families, dressed in their worship robes; the choir and orchestra assembled on the east side of the Altar and were joined by 120 priests blowing trumpets. The choir and trumpets made one voice of praise and thanks to God—orchestra and choir in perfect harmony singing and playing praise to God:
Yes! God is good!
His loyal love goes on forever!
Then a billowing cloud filled The Temple of God. The priests couldn’t even carry out their duties because of the cloud—the glory of God!—that filled The Temple of God.
The Book of 2nd Chronicles, Chapter 5 (The Message)
my personal reading of the Scriptures for Tuesday, february 2 of 2021 with a paired chapter from each Testament of the Bible, along with Today’s Psalms and Proverbs
A post by John Parsons about connection:
The Hebrew word “mitzvah” (מִצְוָה) is often translated as “commandment,” though its basic idea is about connection to God (i.e., the root צוה means to bind or unite). Being connected with the Almighty means talking with him, relating to him as your heavenly Father, and trusting that he esteems you as his beloved child. Whatever else you may think about the commandments of God, this idea of a love connection is foundational and essential. The very first of the Ten Commandments is anochi Adonai Elohekha, “I am the Lord your God,” which invites you to open your heart to receive the touch of the Spirit of God. There is no love like that of the Lord, but you can’t feel that love if you don’t speak to Him, pouring out your heart and clinging to the truth of his love for you....
Pouring out your heart to God in an honest, transparent, and earnest way is sometimes called hitbodedut (הִתְבּוֹדְדוּת). After we "talk our hearts out" before the Lord, in our emptiness we can begin to truly listen, as it says, "In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength" (Isa. 30:15). Only after we sigh deeply and surrender are we receptive to the voice of the Spirit’s whisper. “Blessed are all those who wait for Him” (Isa. 30:18). We wait, we abide, even when God takes his time or does not immediately intervene. We do not lose heart, for we find strength when we trust in God’s love... The Light of the world still shines: Yeshua, be my inner word, my heart, and my groaning for life today, and forevermore, amen.
Since the essence of Torah is connection to God, the greatest blessing is to be filled with a steadfast desire to draw close to him, to experience hunger and thirst (visceral yearning) for God’s presence and touch. Holy desire – expressed in the yearning of heartfelt prayer – is therefore a state of true blessedness, and the more desperate our need for God the more blessed we are. It is our desire, our holy need, that creates a bond between our soul and its Creator, and that is the deeper meaning of mitzvah... "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied" (Matt. 5:6). [Hebrew for Christians]

and another about “knowing”
The knowledge of God (ידיעת יהוה) is our supreme good and the "chief end of human life." It is our highest blessing, more precious than earthly riches, power, or any of the pleasures this world affords (Jer. 9:23-24; Prov. 3:15; Matt. 13:44-46). Those who do not esteem the true knowledge of God invariably fall into darkness, idolatry, and despair (1 Thess. 4:5; Eph. 4:17; Hos. 4:1-2). The knowledge of God set us free to receive the inestimable blessing of eternal life given in the Messiah, as Yeshua testified: "And this is eternal life, to know you (לדעת אותך) the only true God (האל האמיתי היחיד), and Yeshua the Messiah (ישוע המשיח) whom you have sent" (John 17:3). Knowing God is the very reason for your existence and nothing can be compared with its superlative excellence (Phil. 3:8). Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! (Rom. 11:33).
We seek the knowledge of God by first of all believing in its possibility. This in itself is a miracle, since only God can make us come alive to "see" and "hear" the truth of the Spirit (John 3:8). We must humble ourselves, confess our need, and ask God for the grace to truly know him. We must be willing to study his word. This involves doing teshuvah - turning to God and trusting that he desires a genuine relationship with Him (Deut. 10:12). We first know know God in our need for deliverance, our poverty of spirit, and our inner desperation for life, for without these primary and existential concerns, we will not be actually receptive to the divine presence. As we begin to trust in God, however, holy desire is awakened within us to know Him more deeply. We begin to "enshrine" his Presence within the sanctuary of our hearts, making a "place" for him, affirming his reality as what is most precious and glorious (Exod. 15:2). We discover the "one thing" that King David desired - to dwell in God's Presence all his days, beholding the beauty of the LORD and inquiring in his palace (Psalm 27:4). [Hebrew for Christians]

Today’s message from the Institute for Creation Research

Prophets from the Beginning
“That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation; From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation.” (Luke 11:50-51)
God’s true prophets have been persecuted from the beginning. Abel, son of Adam and Eve, was the first, according to Jesus, for his blood was shed by Cain “from the foundation of the world.” A “prophet” in biblical terms was a man who proclaimed inspired words from God (not necessarily predictions of the future, but words inspired by the Holy Spirit—note 1 Peter 1:10-11; 2 Peter 1:19-21).
Evidently Abel was speaking God’s own words to Cain when the latter slew him in jealous wrath. The Zacharias mentioned is probably “Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest,” who was stoned when he prophesied against the people under King Joash (2 Chronicles 24:20-22), for he was the last prophet actually mentioned in the Old Testament as having been slain for his testimony.
Thus, the period encompassed by the Lord’s statement was the entire Old Testament period, “from the foundation of the world” to the coming of Christ. The same experience awaited most of the prophets used by God to pen the New Testament Scriptures. Thus does the world react to God’s inspired Word!
There is another important truth in this passage. The blood of God’s prophets began to be shed “from the foundation of the world,” not just beginning almost five billion years after the foundation of the world, as modern evolutionists allege! This is striking confirmation that the world was made from start to finish in six literal days. See also Mark 10:6, Acts 3:21, etc., for similar incidental confirmations of this truth. HMM

[Evaluator] With capital blessing, may the blockchain sport God Unchained blaze a trail?
Hello everyone, welcome to the project analysis, the Evaluist evaluator, I'm Camille. On September 23, Immutable, the advancement company of Gods Unchained, one of the most well-known blockchain games on the market, completed the first round of expense of US$15 million led by Naspers Ventures and Galaxy Digital EOS VC Fund. Included in this, Naspers South Africa Press Group is also Tencent's largest shareholder. Today, we will talk about the blockchain sport Gods Unchained. Immutable is a blockchain gaming company based in Australia, whose predecessor was Fuel Games. Before developing Gods Unchained, the team developed and released a robot fight game called EtherBots in February 2018. When the game was first launched, 3900 robot parts pre-purchase treasure chests were marketed. In just half a month, these were all sold-out, bringing a net income of 1100 ETH to the Gas Games team. It had been able to obtain a good sales record at the beginning. The big cause is that the idea of blockchain games had been relatively popular at that time. Gamers were making conceptual hype in the secondary market, but the quality of the overall game itself had been very average and there is not much playability.
Tumblr media
Gods Unchained is a trading card competitive game based on Ethereum. The gameplay draws greatly on the well-known collectible card competitive sport Hearthstone. Gods Unchained is a trading card game that utilizes the features of the blockchain to tokenize sport assets in order that players can truly own virtual products in the overall game.
Gods Unchained is currently online and you will be publicly examined until October 30. After that, sport cards will undoubtedly be open for investing and players will be able to trade with each other. During the pre-sale stage of Gods Unchained's card packs, cumulative card sales were close to 5 million U.S. bucks, and 10% of its sales will undoubtedly be directly useful for the prize pool of the first World Championship. The entire development velocity of Gods Unchained is very slow. It had been originally expected to hold the first Entire world Championship in early 2019. However, the game public beta hasn't yet ended. Additionally, there are many troubles in the general public beta edition of the overall game. The artwork and gameplay of the overall game itself are also completely different from the first-line cards. Collectible card competing games have higher barriers to access than collectible card competitive video games, because players need to spend a degree of money to get card packs to start out the overall game, while enthusiasts card competitive sport players need not spend a cent. Be able to go through the game and obtain a relatively complete game knowledge by investing plenty of game time. At present, the most well-known investing card competitive sport in the overall game market, Artifact produced by DOTA's mother or father company Valve, has hit a fresh low recently. It was 1st opened with 60,000 every day livelihoods and today only 100 every day livelihoods. Swap card competitive games aren't extremely popular in the original game market. In addition, both founders of Gods Unchained didn't have any sport development knowledge before EtherBots. There were also certain problems with the announcement of Gods Unchained. At the moment, there are only single-digit sport anchors in the whole network that are streaming Gods Unchained and viewing The amount of people is only ten digits. Although the quality of the Gods Unchained game itself is worrying, the development of Immutable previously year is impressive. The team has expanded from two founders to 50+ people in a single year. Immutable furthermore hired its former director Chris from the popular collectible card sport "Magic The Gathering: Arena" (Miracle The Gathering: Arena). Clay is in charge of Gods Unchianed R&D. The company will also develop its Immutable platform. Immutable will provide blockchain game programmers with a series of open source blockchain toolkits, permitting sport developers to independently develop Immutable sport assets in order that players can truly own game products. ** **Immutable Although the game itself is lacking, but with the blessing of capital, it may be able to blaze a trail in sport development tools. Today's research content material is provided by Evaluape, which provides task databases and professional evaluation services for the blockchain industry. Evaluape site: evaluape.io Evaluape can be an independent and objective ranking agency in line with the world. It provides a blockchain task display and assessment platform based on artificial cleverness, device learning and big data, and task databases and professional evaluation services for the blockchain industry.

Beautiful Homes of Instagram
Happy new week, my friends! How wonderful it is to start this brand new week with you! May all of us have a Blessed and healthy week, filled with good vibes. Talking about good vibes, this “Beautiful Homes of Instagram” today is all about that! Agata, from @TassonInteriors, has a home that feels heavenly. Its neutral color palette combined with classic millwork exudes a timeless elegance that embraces you the moment you step inside.
Having Agata on the blog today is truly a great honor. She worked really hard on collecting all sources for this feature and even hired a photographer to share her home with you. Please make sure to follow her on Instagram and feel free to pin her beautiful home! This talented homeowner deserves all the love we can give!
Here, she tells us more about her current home (Note: I am reposting this today because I am taking a few days off with my family. 🙂 )
“Hi! My name is Agata from @TassonInteriors.  I’m so excited and grateful to be featured by Luciane on Home Bunch!  I’ve found so much inspiration here and it feels surreal to be featured among so many talented designers and homeowners.
I started my career as a criminal prosecutor ten years ago.  When our daughter was born I took a break from law to enjoy these precious young years with her. During that time my husband and I started our third home renovation. Earlier this year I started an Instagram account to share our renovation, and my love for design. With the encouragement of family and friends I am now in the process of pursuing my longstanding passion for interior design and decorating as a career.
Our current home is the one featured here in these photos. My husband and I purchased this home as a new builder grade home.  We love the neighbourhood because it has an abundance of parks, new schools, young families, and it’s close to many amenities. We didn’t upgrade anything through the builder choosing instead to put our own stamp on the house which included full kitchen and bathroom renovations (our master bathroom is currently under construction).  I wanted a light, bright, airy, warm, casual and liveable home. I’m really flattered to be able to share my home and work with you. I hope that you enjoy the tour! Thanks for stopping by!”
  Beautiful Homes of Instagram
Meet the homeowner: This is Agata, from @ATstylemyhome, in her beautiful kitchen! I am so thankful for all of the time she put into this feature!

Dining Room
I love having a separate dining room but we didn’t want anything too formal or fancy. We love to host family and friends, but our dining room isn’t just for special occasions. We eat dinner in our dining room every evening. It’s so important to me for our family to connect around the table at the end of the day.
Table – similar at RH, here, here & here.
Herringbone Flooring
These herringbone floors were a last minute decision which turned out to be our favourite feature of this room. We also added some millwork to give the white walls some interest.
Chandelier: Visual Comfort Co. hand -rubbed antique bras with clear glass.

Cabinetry
Glass doors give an airy feel to the butler’s pantry cabinetry.
Kitchen
This is our favourite space in our home.  I love the open floor plan kitchen and family room.  It’s where we spend most of our time preparing meals, playing, reading and enjoying our family time.   The back of our home is southwest facing so we enjoy a lot of natural light here. We eliminated the breakfast area and designed this custom kitchen opting for a large 9 x 4.5 foot island instead of a breakfast table.  I wanted the kitchen to feel modern and fresh yet timeless. The panelled fridge was a splurge but I absolutely love it.
Double Oven – Jenn Air
Fridge – Thermador
Cabinet Paint Color
Cabinet Colour – Simply White by Benjamin Moore.
Backsplash
For the backsplash I opted for a very classic white bevelled 3 x 6 subway tile.  I didn’t want anything too busy or trendy. I love how the backsplash compliments the quartz counters without competing with them.
Backsplash – 3×6 white beveled subway tile – similar here & here (crackled tile).

Counterstools
I searched and searched for the perfect counter stools but ultimately I decided to stick with the ones that I already had.  Instead, with the help of Anne from Oakville Slipcovers I had slipcovers made from some beautiful striped fabric from Tonic Living.  I’m so happy with how they turned out!
Barstools – Homesense find years ago but I recently added these slipcovers Slipcover fabric is Tonic Living. Custom made by Anne at Oakville Slipcovers – similar here – (Select Fabric: Perennials® Performance Shirting Stripe – Pewter).
Kitchen Island Dimensions

Branches – Pottery Barn
The large basket is from Pottery Barn.
Coffee Table
Coffee Table – here.
Living Room Roman Shades
Woven Roman Shades – Hunter Douglas, Provenance Collection, colour Trellis.
Powder Room
The powder room was originally located between the kitchen and the dining room.  We relocated the powder room into the sunken laundry room. The original powder room was transformed into a walk-in pantry across from the butler’s pantry.  I love that the powder room is now in a more discrete spot.
I was really inspired by Luciane’s first Beautiful Homes of Instagram Home Bunch feature @JSHomeDesign’s powder room.  That’s where I found this beautiful Crown wallpaper and this honed marble herringbone tile. I designed this custom mirrored vanity and paired it with a durable quartz counter.
Pocket Doors (powder room) Another way we added custom charm to our cookie cutter build was to add pocket doors. They are such great space savers. (Hardware is by Emtek) (pocket door is in the powder room, between master bedroom and master bathroom & 2 master bedroom walk-in closets)
Flooring: Honed Marble Herringbone Floor Tile (similar here)
Mirror – Homesense – similar here, here, here & here.
Wallpaper – Crown – Other beautiful wallpapers: here.

Mirrored Doors
Mirrored Doors: I added these mirrored doors in our entrance hallway to make the space feel more open and airy. We love them so much that we also added them to our laundry closet. (source is Trim-lite)
Picture This!
Picture Frame Wainscoting: We added picture frame wainscoting to the dining room and the master bedroom. It gives both rooms a more elegant and custom feel.

   Butler’s Pantry
A butler’s pantry is located between the dining room and kitchen.
The wide plank European white oak floors are by far my favourite feature of this house. They add so much character and warmth to our home. They also give it the light and airy feel that I was after.
Pot Filler – Kohler Artifacts Wall Mount Pot Filler in Polished Nickel
Oil & Vinegar set – West Elm
Glass Cooktop – KitchenAid
Hood Fan – Falmec

Cabinet Hardware: Knobs, Pulls & Dishwasher Pulls in Polished nickel.

Metals
I like the fact that the mix of metal in this kitchen exists but it’s limited to two finishes; polished nickel and aged iron.
Hardwood Flooring
The wide plank European white oak floors are by far my favourite feature of this house. They add so much character and warmth to our home. They also give it the light and airy feel that I was after.
Flooring: 7.5 inch European white Oak made by Purparket unstained (sanded on site). Finished with a clear coat made by Loba – No stain used – similar here.

Island Size – 4.5 feet by 9 feet
Family Room
I love the generous size of this room.  We opted for a sectional sofa to maximize seating.  We added a coffered ceiling to add some character and interest to this room, as well as to add some definition to the space. My husband built the shiplap wall above the fireplace.

Baskets in built-in – Indigo

Trim, fireplace and built-ins are Benjamin Moore Simply White.

Competitive Validation and Ownership
I often confront myself with what it means to be like others. Reflecting on what others have that I don’t has had an odd effect on my progress through life, and I think this is something worth examining. We always hear through common knowledge that comparison is unhealthy: we should be happy with what we have and not ask for more. I agree with this to the extent that what others have (that goes beyond physical survival) means nothing in the scope of our own lives, but I think it’s true that we should always ask and expect more from ourselves while trying to better our circumstances. It’s this first aspect of this examination that I want to write about more than the rest, and I just have to decide how it needs to be formulated. This essay is fueled by my pondering lately: of competition and comparison, and there are reflections I’ve seen in others that have helped me grasp my own stance on these things.
Even though I realize there’s no such thing as a false opinion (only an inauthentic one), I believe now that when I write things like this, they need to be backed by more than just my opinions and emotional musings. I need the skill of explaining linearly, the focus of these opinions, if they have any hope of making whatever kind of mark they would be able to make at their fullest potential. For the sake of clarity I will say that I believe competition is unhealthy and hindering, and I also believe that wanting what others have is to forsake the authentic progress of an individual. The desire to have what we perceive another person to possess that we don’t, is to actually cancel out our own ownership. Jealousy and emulation combined, appears to be a cancelling force when it comes to what we actually have in our lives. To me this all revolves around perception, which I’ll explain further on.
Many of us have role models, and people we wish to emulate in terms of developing a formula for living life. There is nothing inherently wrong with looking up to someone and admiring them, but we are taught profusely that in order to get what it is we want we have to compete for it with them, and this creates a dynamic of trying to approach accomplishments the way we see others approach them- and hopefully much better. As soon as we desire what someone else has in a competitive way, it creates a shrinking effect upon our persona and the uniqueness with which we approach life. Sometimes we even compare the hardship of others to our own,  in order to discount our personal potential (though maybe not always purposefully or in such a self-sabotaging manner). It’s possible for us to think along the lines of: “So and so got to where they are via the ‘good fight’, and I won’t make it if I don’t do the same.''
“The good fight” is what we call struggle, failure and hardship, and the victory is of course overcoming  this hardship, failure and struggle. The problem with attempted similarity in regards to ‘the good fight’ is that it assumes two ways of living human life can be virtually the same. So many make their journey to personal achievement harder than it needs to be because there’s a fear that if it’s not hard for them, then it cannot be accomplished. This is a failure to take into account that some people are blessed with natural talents that make the road to their actualization of them easier for them than the next person. It will likely be best if I save the “we make life harder than it needs to be” rhetoric for another essay, because I’ve digressed a bit. I just wanted to show the flipside of unhealthy comparison, which I believe is that of discounting our own progress because we do not have it as hard as someone else did, whom we perceive as living the life we want.
Wanting what someone else has in a competitive sense, comes with the complication of stepping too far outside of what has already been achieved by us on a very personal level. It's comparisons of how we perceive the external success of other people that drowns out our own, and this is the shrinking effect upon the persona. It’s likely important to expound more on considerations of success. Humanity’s range for perceiving success is so complicated, but some simple and obvious examples include money, love, relationships, friendships, and high standing within a social sphere. When I hear the word “success” my own mind instantly goes to having a fulfilling career, and I admittedly shrink myself down in my comparisons to people that have fulfilled this concept, so I think. I often wonder what talents, intelligence and charming attributes people with careers have that I don’t, and so comes for me the building of competitive disillusionment.
Highly personal and uninfluenced achievement is risky and we are often so afraid of taking this risk of doing things our very own way, that we strive to obtain the same pictures of success as others instead: using methods we perceive will work out according to how they have pulled them off. In my opinion this puts ownership directly into question because ownership, in a metaphorical sense, truly has no universal meaning or substance. There is a vast difference between owning in order to survive, and owning out of an ignorance surrounding our immediately fulfilled successes and accomplishments; those that can only be felt on the most inner level. When we own in order to survive we are not merely trying to copy or compete for success, as it’s a very dire and emergent thing: to have to have shelter and food and water. It’s when we try to obtain ownership for the sake of not feeling left out that we shrink our persona, and a gaping hole is formed within.
I think the latter form of ownership deserves questioning, and a lot of it. Why do we equate ownership for one person with inferiority, and lack of ownership for another person - often our own selves? What is it about a person owning a house we do not, being in a marriage when we are single, or having a car that is pricier than our own, that leads us into such a disharmony with what we already have in our own lives? These are the questions I am calling around the concept of ‘ownership’, and they may not seem important but that’s the beauty of inquiring into things like this: the answers don’t need to be majorly important or life changing; they just need to be asked at all. I feel it’s important that we ask things of our most malfunctioning behaviors as people, and I do believe that acting from “fear of missing out” is quite the malfunction of character, in most cases.
The competitive fear of missing out distracts us, and it creates a perception that states: “There is not enough for everyone”. Most of us are numb to the fact that a huge portion of people on Earth have everything they need to survive, because for so many there is an abundance of what it is that sustains us. This is truly a miracle, that not everyone on the planet is fortunate enough to participate in yet  most of us are now numb to it, because we are so distracted by the concept of others owning what we think it is we need and do not have. In the West we are contaminated by “next level” thinking: we get what it is we’ve pined for, and then the next level of what we need in order to feel complete almost instantly forms in our mind. This is the distraction I am referring to when it comes to jealousy brought about by reflecting upon the concept of ownership. There is a clear distinction between owning in order to survive in a physical sense, and ownership in order to survive in an egotistical sense. It’s true that the word “ego” has many, many sharp edges around it. What I mean by ego is simply the part of our humanity that defines anything as good or bad, have or have not, love or hate, weak or strong. There’s millions of other things ego tries to define with very little nuance, but these will suffice.
Unhealthy comparison is egotistical survival in a nutshell, and I wish to shed a light on it. So many of us see the success of others and a certain sense of competition forms within us, to the point where we forget our own strong suits in the continuation of our own life. Sometimes it is the most subtle of emotions; we see what we do not have through others and we suddenly feel mildly morose, perhaps slightly contemptuous, but also quite angry or depressed for some. This will not sensibly translate as “competition” for everyone, but I use this word for the sake of relating what it is we do when we use others to focus on our own lack. Competitive comparison creates an effect that is so minimizing to our authentic achievements that in the end we “own” less and less. How can you possibly own what you do not acknowledge? The person who is in a relatively happy marriage but does not have a stable career: who focuses on this enough to create a hole within herself will, by extension, no longer have a relatively happy marriage since it is not fully acknowledged. Within every intangible artifact of human life, it will not fully exist unless we acknowledge it. Our reality is half where we exist physically, and half what we acknowledge, or perceive.  We can never feel as though we own what it is we do not wholly recognize with thankfulness, because real ownership (outside of the ownership that encases physical survival) is the surrender of comparisons, for the sake of being fully immersed in what is had by us as individuals.
Here we are now in an age where possession is flaunted on an imaginary level. With social media we are able to show an image of ourselves that is only happy. It’s not that everyone does this; that’s not the point I want to make. The point is: we have the ability to do this, and it creates false emulation within the collective. Someone sees a post from a seemingly perfectly happy person, and the fear of missing out sets in almost immediately. The comparison to this painted picture is almost so automatic that it begs to be faced with the understanding of what it truly is: a source of lifeless motivation. Measuring ourselves up to others can only truly motivate us for so long, before it causes the truth of our accomplishments to become invisible, the more we stay stuck in the mental pattern of comparison. Ownership above the physical can only be a true reality for us, and fulfill us, when we truly recognize it and refuse to let it pale by any comparison.
So here we have a challenge that I believe could be quite healthy: to stop comparing what it is we think we don’t have to what we think others do have. To be at peace in the realm of empathy, which is the ability to recognize ourselves in the experience of others, we must fully recognize what gifts we have been given. It is perfectly fine to ask for more, I believe. In my view the line is drawn right where we begin to shrink the scope of our personal fulfillment, immersing it in the shadow that is the way we perceive the wealth of others. Without the specific withdrawal from this habit there will be a continual collective cycle of discontent, that resonates from people desiring to be like each other. There will be the continued feeling of a void of inferiority that can only be filled, temporarily, by repeating the cycle. If we choose to withdraw from comparison and edge ourselves fully into healthy cycles of gratitude, I truly believe we will somehow love each other more than we already do now, and more than  we  ever have before.

Description: Katsuma interrupts Tharja while she was stalking Robin, resulting in her putting a hex on him. When he figures a mundane around it, she starts to continually escalate things.
Honestly, he didn’t know what the big deal was. Tharja was scary, he guessed but it wasn’t like she was super mean or anything like that. Just a little weird. And sometimes weird was fine.
Approaching her in camp, he noticed her hanging around a tent. Something seemed familiar about this one? Oh well, he wasn’t as focused on that.
“Hey Tharja. Whatcha up to?”
“None of your business.” Was Tharja’s immediate reply, glaring at the man from the corner of her eyes. Of all the accursed…there was no point staying here any longer. Robin would have absolutely heard the man ask her that, and would doubtlessly be coming out to confront her about her continued stalking observation soon, a conversation she’d rather avoid.
“Infuriating man!” Tharja spat, raising a hand before pausing. She’d promised not to hex anyone else against their will. Well, perhaps a small one wouldn’t hurt. She pointed her finger at him and snarled a few words under her breath before storming off, a smirk on her face. Stubbing your toe every three minutes for the rest of the day was a petty revenge, but it still felt good.
Huh, wonder what that was about. As Tharja wandered away, Katsuma realized why this tent seemed familiar. Upon further examination, he’d noticed Tharja stood behind it every single day at this hour. How curious. Peeking around the tent, he saw why. Robin was busy doing things across the way. It was a pretty clear view, but it held little interest to Katsuma.
Did Tharja have a crush on Robin? Eyes blink, and he turns on his heel, slowly walking away. How very strange.
On his way back to his own tent, he manages to stub his toe on a box. “Oof.” Well, that was unfortunate. A sign of what had occurred, perhaps. He’ll just sit at his desk for now then. Not that he couldn’t tell he’d been magically altered. Its fairly obvious when you’re as in-tune with magic as Katsuma’s family was. He had no way to combat hexes naturally, but he knew about Tharja’s habits, and he knew that the box that had seemed to alter its way into his foot was no ‘coincidence’. Seating himself still for the rest of the day should solve that problem. Good thing he kept snacks in his tent.
“How was your day, Katsuma?”
Tharja swept into his tent with a smirk on her face, planting her hands on either side of his desk and leaning forwards with murder in her eyes. She licked her lips slowly as she glared at him, drumming her fingers along the surface in a slow, regular tempo.
“Perhaps you’ve learned your lesson about approaching me when I’m busy?”
“Nope.”
Katsuma simply stared back at Tharja. “3…2….1….” Suddenly his foot kicked the desk leg, but he didn’t seem to move or even be bothered by it. “Every three minutes? Really? I mean its inconvenient I guess, but at the same time, it was easy to figure out. On top of that, it was an easy solution to prevent any pain.” Lifting his leg onto the desk, he shows that he had simply fashioned some thick strips of leather to the toes of his boots, effectively making it impossible to penetrate to his toe.
“I’m not dumb enough to challenge you to hex me better, but I am smart enough to know Robin wouldn’t think kindly of it if I told him what occurred. Best we simply forget it ever happened, I think, and make sure it doesn’t again.”
Well, now Tharja was just insulted. Her fingers dug into the surface of the table as she leaned forwards, bangs brushing in front of her eyes.
“You are an infuriating man who is not as clever as he thinks he is.” She growled, nails scratching the wooden tabletop. “How do you expect to tell Robin anything if you can’t talk to them?”
She hissed words under her breath with another motion, smirking triumphantly as she turned to leave yet again. The last words to Katsuma for now were delivered in a mocking tone from the front of the tent, an ancient dialect of Plegian that the man had no possible chance of understanding under normal circumstances. “Good luck talking to anyone else if this is the only language you know how to speak, read or write anymore. Come beg me for forgiveness and I might lift it.”
Hmmm, well this was interesting. A hex that helped him decipher more of the ancient Plegian artifacts he had been seeking Henry’s help on working with. Sure, Henry likely wouldn’t understand anything he said, but now he could just read everything on his own.
“Thank you, then.” He simply replied to her in the language she had chosen. “Understanding Ancient Plegian will help immensely with my research.”
Turning back to his desk, he pulled out his notes he’d made on the things he’d had delivered to him. It would be a late night, it seemed, and even if he couldn’t share the load with Henry, this would bring them much closer to understanding the Grimleal and those that came before. “If you’re interested in some heavy studying you should come by later. I could likely use another pair of eyes.”
“You…you…”
Tharja was not often reduced to incoherent rage. She preferred to serve her vengeance through cold focus, even if it was spur of the moment. But the man had twice now spun her hexes into mere annoyances at best, and the dark mage wanted blood. But, Robin would be angry if she killed him - well, she was pretty sure - so she had to come up with something else.
“Prakaash ho gaya.” She growled, holding up one hand as she turned back in the tent door. The candles snuffed out, natural light seeming to shift out of the tent to gather in her hand. She closed her palm, plummeting the tent into blackness before tugging the flap closed with a satisfied smirk on her face. Another hex rendered it unable to be opened, but just to make sure, Tharja sat down on some supply crates nearby and watched.
Oh ho ho. He was really pissing her off now. She didn’t even seem to think much of what she did next. Darkness? Oh no, he couldn’t study. Suppose he should just give in now…
“[Oh gee, I am so defeated now. Oh sigh. Oh bother. Guess I’ve naught to do but catch up on sleep! Good night Tharja. Naga’s blessing upon you.]”
The last bit was added for bite, more then anything. While his mother had been a cleric, his belief in Naga’s anything was nothing but name. She existed, but any god who could let the kind of suffering that happened before deserved little more then lip service, to be frank. Sliding from his chair, he carefully maneuvered to his bed, stubbing his toe one final time before flopping into the bed and closing his eyes. He pulled his blanket over him and curled into the wall of the tent, satisfied with how little this seemed to affect him. Maybe next she’d manage a hex that simply cured him of his nightmares… that’d be nice…
Ah, yes. The simpleton’s answer to the problem.
Excellent.
If Tharja was good at one thing, it was plotting revenge. As soon as she heard Katsuma’s declaration that he’d get some sleep she chuckled and leaned back against the crates, rubbing her hands together. The spell was timed, of course - there was only so long even her power could keep light entirely out of a tent, especially with the sun still up.
Once the hour had passed there was a loud bang and a flash of purple light from within the tent that she just knew had to wake Katsuma up - unless there was something wrong with him - Tharja did something she’d promised not to do again when she was a teenager. She started to cackle.
Well. That was something. Sighing a little, Katsuma rolled onto his back, listening to the dark mage cackle. “[You did it. You got me. Are you pleased now? For a woman as beautiful as you are, you certainly have a lot of free time on your hands to bother with a regular soldier for an entire day. One would almost assume it was me you were pining after.]”
“[Truly I am flattered, really. You should’ve just told me though instead of behaving like a schoolgirl.]”
He couldn’t see Tharja’s face, but he imagined the cackling would end. More importantly, she couldn’t see the big huge smirk on his face. He had to admit Tharja was his type if you went in the opposite direction of his known one. He was a man of extremes, he figured, with those in the middle tending not to be the ones he was into. The extremely strong, and the extremely smart. Those were the best. But more importantly, he knew Tharja had zero interest in him. This was about revenge for inconveniencing her, he guessed. It made no sense considering how much of this time she could’ve spent following Robin around, and doing whatever else she did.
“…”
Tharja’s cackling ceased immediately at his words, a blank look coming over her face. She could come up with a new hex to punish him for saying that, or…
Or she could just take a page out of a simpleton’s book and set the tent on fire, she supposed. She actually seriously considered it for a few moments, glancing at the fireplace and frowning.
“Hmph. Robin wouldn’t like the destruction of property.” She sighed after a few moments, walking back towards the tent and switching to Ancient Plegian. “[Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t just skin you alive for even suggesting that.]“
Sitting up in his bed, he gave his own blank look. “[Because it would get you kicked out of the army at best, and killed at worst. Besides, I’m valuable in my own right. Imagine the things we could actually study, the discoveries we could make with this hex. The things I find, we could unearth ancient magic, powerful artifacts, whole histories lost to the sands.]”
While Robin wouldn’t care that he was dead personally, she’d still have to set an example with Tharja. One couldn’t just go around killing people in the army they didn’t like; if they could, Robin would’ve done that with him ages ago. Though their relationship was strained, she knew what that would mean, and, thankfully, was far smarter then Katsuma would ever care to admit.
Tharja on the other hand was impulsive, brash, and too easy to anger. She acted with little thinking or care for consequence, or the ramifications of her actions. Which naturally lead her to here, with him, in his tent.
“[Or you could just, ya know, not? What was even the entire point of all this?]” A sigh follows and he gives her an almost pitiful look. “[You completely went off the rails without thinking, and even then every plan of yours was easily thwarted save one.]” He wouldn’t bother saying it was yet another inconvenience really, but there was that. “[You could’ve spent this entire time doing… whatever it is you’re doing, yet you focused all your energy on me. Again, I’m flattered, and no I don’t mean romantically. Its nice /someone/ even bothered with me at all. And admittedly, it was a little fun.]”
He gave a little smile, shaking his head. “[Didn’t have much of a childhood, so this is the closest I can say I’ve had to ‘playing with others’. Still, I won’t bother you any further, if that is truly what you wish.]”
“[You do realize I speak it flawlessly without the hex, right? I don’t care if it helps you out.]” Tharja snorted as she stood in the tent entrance again, crossing her arms. The only problem was, following the ancient dialect gave her one hell of a headache when people started talking quickly, brow furrowing in concentration.
“[Besides. A personal insult grave enough would get me SOME leeway, I’m sure.]” She glared at him once more, nails digging into her palms. “[You ruined my plans for the day and then you kept mocking my hexes. I can assure you, if I truly wanted to punish you I could have done much, much worse.]”
She was quiet for his sob story, eventually just grunting and dismissing the layered hexes on him with a wave of her hand. The conversation was starting to mess with her nerves anyway, she was half-convinced Katsuma was about to launch into a spell halfway through a sentence through sheer indoctrinated habit of what the language usually meant.
“Don’t interrupt me again.” She said quietly, leaving. She paused a few paces away, smirking as the shadows inside the tent deepened once more before another explosion of noise and purple light echoed through it.
There wasn’t any fun in cancelling all of the hexes, of course.
