Hello, do you speak in hypotheticals by chance?

Let's say that, hypothetically, your show's lead actress quits 2 days before performance day. Let's also say that, hypothetically, you have been removed from stage management and placed onto the cast in a panicked frenzy.

In this completely hypothetical and not-real-life scenario, is there any kind of advice you would give yourself for learning an entire character in 48 hours?

(Yes everything's fine why do you ask?)

So, hypothetically, I've never had to learn a role on this tight of a time line, but here's my like. General Memorization Strategy™:

You've been part of the SM team, you've got a general idea what's going on, you're not going in completely blind, you can do this.

Repetition. Repetition. Repetition. (spoiler: this is also in every other point.) Run it as much as you can.

You need a line partner. You will read the script (Several times! Out loud even!). You will go 'yeah know what the lines are.' You will not. Get someone on book while you run. It can be a cast member, it can be your friend, it can be your mom, it can be some guy you stop in a grocery store aisle, whoever, Someone needs to check you.

Adding to 3, my favorite method to have them check me, is where I start at the top and go until I mess something up at which point they correct me and I start over from the very beginning. This makes the scene take ages and gets boring fast and it is Absolutely Crucial to making sure you know the scene in context (also. free repetition).*

Do this on your feet. ** I like to run lines under my breath while I'm walking places, which can be anything from around the block, the aforementioned grocery store, or just straight up pacing. You're never just speaking on stage so try not to practice like that. Get your body involved

Don't forget the Everything Else you're doing. You know the lines but do you know where the next entrance is? Props? Costume change? Quick turnaround? Make a list***. Run the list often so you can recall things backstage

Also uh..i've never been concise but 30 Second Character Workshop:

Feet and shoulders. Bam. Like 85% of character body movement right there. How does the character hold their feet and how do they hold their shoulders. If you know that it will lead pretty naturally into the rest of the movements.

*I am absolutely guilty of bailing on my own method and only going back part way bc I have said that dialogue forty times in the last five minutes thank you very much, so this isn't like a hard rule but try to start from different places each time so that the memorization is cohesive and run it all together at the end. I also personally like my partner to make me be word perfect but that is dependent on both directorial and personal preference.

**This is more of a step 2 bc it can be a lot esp if you're trying to read at the same time, but you want to get to it as soon as possible. Also a great place to run blocking if you know it but if you only run things on your feet when you have space to do blocking you're losing out on ages of practice time. Just get your body moving.

***Given the fact you're stepping in so last minute, I'm going to hazard this list already exists in some way but make it your best friend. If you have time to rewrite it (by hand ideally) that can help cement it into your memory. My personal format is "In Scene X, I am playing X in X costume. I enter from X carrying X and exit X carrying X. After I leave, I X" but do whatever format and information makes the most sense to you, cause you're the one who's going to use it.

Would love to hear more about your thoughts on Mermista being your favorite character from She Ra 👀 if you ever felt like sharing

I’m totally not biased at all but I too think she’s the best character

I think this is really interesting, because a character can be someone’s favourite for a ton of reasons. Sometimes it is aesthetics, or mood, or empathy, but I like Mermista because of how she operates as a vessel for storytelling.

And before I start on this tangent, please be aware that this is, by nature, subjective. If you don’t like Mermista, state your case in the replies. Please don’t take my word as gospel.

SPOILERS AHEAD (She-Ra and the Princesses of Power)

So, I am a fan of wordless storytelling. It’s why I love the traditional mystery films and old western flicks. I like the pacing that comes from characters wandering around and not saying anything, but working things out in a way that the audience can see.

This is partially because writing dialogue is easy, but writing good dialogue is infinitely more difficult than anything, and I am still getting the hang of it, so a lot of what I write is slow and methodical. But I also think that visual storytelling is a lot more interesting and easier for me personally to keep track of.

It's Show Don’t Tell taken to its logical extreme, and while its situational, it really works for me.

Which brings me to Mermista, who I think has less than half the number of the lines as Frosta, despite being on screen for a ton more. That is because no dialogue with Mermista is ever wasted, and instead she takes in situations and thinks.

The only times Mermista ever really speaks are when she needs to communicate information quickly, and when she is annoying one of the other princesses for the fun of it. Even with Shadow Weaver, she finds the quickest possible solution, she interrupts her by calling her a name. She throws her off balance, then gets back to being quiet.

Case and point, at the end of No Princess Left Behind, Mermista doesn’t give a speech, or tell anyone that she is feeling sad. She just turns away from the camera and acts out her emotions subtly.

But the show doesn’t write this as just a strength for Mermista, it’s core to what I keep saying about how the series writes tragedy. Each character’s greatest strength is their greatest weakness. Mermista is detached and methodical, but that’s a façade, and it means she is totally unequipped to handle big emotions. She doesn’t know how to respond to Entrapta’s death, and she is totally unprepared emotionally to cope with the fall of Salineas later on.

In that way she acts as a counter to Perfuma, who is all about those big emotions and big connections. But there are other things that show them as opposites.

For example, Mermista is dynamic as hell. Part of her water theming is that she is able adapt to almost any situation and work through a problem. She can fit any shape, and fill any role in the team. She’s a bruiser, or a scout, or a tank, or a saboteur. But she’s also dynamic ethically.

You may notice that Mermista has the single most flexible moral compas in the team. Not in the sense that she is morally grey, (or morally pink like Glimmer), but in the sense that she applies a different framework to each problem she is faced with. She doesn’t have a thing against deceiving, trickery, or even killing if the situation calls for it, but she never strays into that dubious territory because she knows when to implement it and when that fails, she tries something else. Mermista perseveres and adapts.

Perfuma, however, is the She-Ra equivalent of Batman. I’m not joking about this, and I will talk about it in a later post. In short, however, Perfuma’s greatest strength is her uncompromising moral code. That’s how she gets through to Scorpia at the end. But it also means she is utterly inflexible, hence why she can’t work with cacti or Entrapta.

The reason I bring both of them up together is because their balancing out of each other leads to character development over the course of the story. Perfuma learns to widen her understanding of the world, and that she doesn’t realy have to subvert her morals to do so, and Mermista gains a healthy framework with which she can interact with people and form meaningful relationships.

For example, she can’t really react to Sea Hawk at the start of the series because she doesn’t know how to. She thinks in problems to be solved, but people aren’t that. At the end of the series, they become a couple because of the development seen above.

Essentially, I like Mermista because I like the story that is being told about her, and the way in which it is told. She's also just a big ol' nerd, which is just a joy to watch.

Just stop giving her one liners. I’m talking to the show and a few fanfics I have read. They’re jarring. Please, let my girl brood.

A Pretty Long Rant on RPF shippers in the context of David Tennant and Michael Sheen

the entire georgia/anna discourse is so. bullshit. because those are actual, real people, with real lives and real relationships with those around them

Regarding dt and gt, just saying, no one has five children together as part of a pr stunt. Same with Michael and Anna.

And the fact that rpf people fail to realise this is concerning- taking the "my wife" jokes quite literally. News flash, it's a fucking joke. It's not something gt and al are making up to cover up for the fact that their respective partners fell in love with each other (yes, this is an actual take i've seen on this matter)

And idk if the rpf people are just dumb or are fully aware of what they're doing, despite the fact that they're completely tearing apart the lives of real people.

Another retort I've often seen is that fans have the right to criticize celebrities. Yes, yes they do. But breaking down a marriage spanning over a decade isn't criticism! You're creating fake problems out of thin air and for what? Genuinely, for what?

Rpf shippers just automatically assume the worst in both Georgia and Anna, and you know what? God forbid women do anything. Because that's exactly what this is.

They're completely vilifying gt and al because... they're in a relationship with their "blorbo actors?" They're acting like gt/dt and al/ms are fictional characters that you can play around with like dolls but you can't play around with real people's lives! Simply put, it isn't ethical.

I feel like the rpf people just fail to understand the meaning of “real”, because I don’t even know how one can feel so alright and happy by tearing apart the lives of real people. The fact that people are finding every possible way to find problems in their current relationships to suit their fantasies is so fucking disgusting.

Okay now if you're with me so far, I'm impressed. Stay with me because I'm not done yet.

Regarding Georgia, don't rpf blogs just love to criticize her and her parenting methods? That Georgia's just lazy and only wants to drink wine, but omfg. wtf. She has fucking 5 children. I don't care what you think, managing those many kids is NOT an easy task. But also... posts I've seen on this matter never seem to bring up David? Why? Isn't he a parent? Shouldn't he also have a role in parenting? Whatever Georgia does surely won't be against what David believes, right? Wake up, rpf shippers, wake the fuck up.

David almost definitely does have a role in the parenting (anyone willing to fight me on this, come off, I'll give you the reasons) but since he’s all over London at the moment, he probably doesn’t have much time. Which means that gt has to manage 4-5 kids all by herself. So she does actually deserve a break, more than anyone else. But she doesn’t because wahoo god forbid women do anything.

And putting all that aside, what the hell gives rpf people the right to hate on her as if they know her irl. Their default behavioral status is set to mean and bitchy and that’s just. concerning. rpf people need to understand the difference between real life and fiction istfg.

Sometimes fans do have the right to speak up against an UNHEALTHY relationship. There are multiple examples all over the place where one person has expressed dissatisfaction but no one took them seriously. Except… neither gt/dt nor ms/al have expressed dissatisfaction. At all. It’s actually the exact opposite where they keep fawning for each other. There’s 0 suggestions of any of them being unhappy in their respective relationships apparent from yall overanalyzing their body language to the point where it becomes false.

Do Georgia and Anna ship themselves with each other and ship David with Michael? Yes. But that's a fucking joke. Learn to take a joke, yalls, it will get you a long way. And even if they are the ones doing the shipping, so what? That doesn’t give you the right to. It’s their lives. You’re just a person viewing their lives from a small peep hole known as Instagram.

Forgive me if this is rude or disrespectful I really don't mean it to be! I'm completely new to this blog and it's contents but I'm curious. Would, hypothetically, a healthy thing someone with NPD could do be to recognise their disorder and take healthy steps to assure they don't accidentally hurt anyone, or get hurt themselves? Like.. would that be possible for someone with NPD? Again sorry if this is uneducated of me. I'd consider myself vulnerable so.. idk it'd be cool to know if it's possible for me and a NPD person to have a healthy relationship. Also I've just realised this ask is all over the place sorry! 😅

Hi there!

People with NPD can absolutely have healthy relationships! I (npd) actually just celebrated my 11th anniversary with my wife (npd and bpd) yesterday. But as with any neurodivergence, there are adjustments you need to make.

First of all, communicate! It can be hard for pwNPD (people with npd) to know how you are feeling, or even remember that you’re feeling something different from them. Make sure to be clear about your emotional state. My wife would check in daily (at least) to see how i was feeling, because i never realized that i was really bad at talking about (or even recognizing) my own emotions. This helped them know i wasn’t mad at them, and me learn how to express myself in a clear way.

Understand that pwNPD often have very fragile self esteem. Compliments are HUGE for us, and mean a whole lot. Meanwhile, it can be tough for us to take criticism or be in the wrong about something. This doesn’t mean we should be allowed to get away with harmful behavior, but that it’s important to have these discussions in a constructive manner. I really like the “sandwich” method, where you say something positive, note your criticism, then say something else positive or reiterate the positive thing you said before.

Ex: “I’m so happy you found a game you really like! I was hurt when it seemed like you were paying more attention to the game than me when i was trying to tell you something important. But I’d love to play it with you after we chat!”

This is actually just general people-skills advice, but it is especially helpful when the person you’re talking to struggles to understand the perspectives of other people.

Another bit of general relationship advice that has really helped my marriage: never go to bed angry at your partner. You can take a break to calm down, you can take a nap or a shower or just go into another room until you’re ready to talk again. But you shouldn’t let your feelings simmer or develop into a grudge. It’s really important to communicate with your partner no matter whether they’re neurotypical or not, but it’s crucial when you’re interacting with people whose brains work very differently than your own.

I have to get this off my chest because I've seen these two get misunderstood a lot already, and with the little attention the pairing is given, maybe it's time to contribute some. If you're willing to read this please just keep an open mind, i understand that Buzz and Ozma aren't the fandom's favorite pairing especially because of the appeal some other non canon ships have (even i see it - i don't blame anyone for it) but it really makes me sad when bias influences people's ability to enjoy things outside of their main interest.

***i should also emphasize that this is just how i interpret it - the beauty of art is that it's subjective***

It always tics me off whenever someone says that Buzz is arrogant or anything of the type. The creators of the show describe his character as "...his biggest flaw is that he believes in his own legend." He's confident. He's overconfident even, which isn't without reason considering he has nearly 100% success rate. It's easy to confuse the two but the difference is in that, he does not belittle anyone and doesn't feel threatened by someone being as good as him or even better. There are times when he has joked at other people's expense (notably - Opposites attract, Speed trap and Plasma monster) but here's the catch - he always learns and by the end makes up for it. It's because he's not the stoic emotionless type of hero, he has personality and sometimes says things he doesn't fully think through. His whole team, Buzz included, loves throwing jabs at each other all the time, their goal never is to genuinely offend.

That leads to my next point. He always means well. Again, he never belittles ON PURPOSE. It's more or less confirmed he's introverted - before Team Lightyear, he worked alone and still loves spending time on his own. That means he likely spent most of his time around Warp and not much of anyone else, his communication skills aren't great because he focuses on his job too much and hasn't spent much time developing them. Sometimes he misses social cues and misunderstands situations or how people feel. He wasn't a jerk to Ty on purpose, everyone is constantly outdoing each other in praising his achievements so he had no idea it annoys Ty to pieces. The moment Buzz found out how he truthly feels he did everything he could to make up for it.

It's a recurring theme that Buzz isn't crazy about wildlife, it's not just his interactions with Ozma but the whole episode Dirty work is about that very topic. He's stubborn and because that's so far removed from his usual line of work he tries everything he can to use his old methods rather than to try something newer. Little by little he gives into it once he starts to allow himself to understand.

That character only cares about their working field, is willing to completely disregard anything that's outside of it, no matter how that may seem unethical to everyone else, and because they haven't gotten enough perspective from the other side they don't see why that's wrong, but is slowly learning throughout the show and could have gotten more development if the show continued.

I'm talking about Ozma this time. See how that can apply to both of them? Ozma is just as wrong as Buzz and they both can get across as irrational, but they actually are trying to protect what they believe in. Buzz doesn't care about nature and Ozma doesn't care about people - directly opposing fields, they are fighting for what the other would sacrifice. That's why their clash is so interesting, they have EVERYTHING in common, with just one difference that's so detrimental that it completely overwhelms their relationship.

Just like how Buzz is misunderstood to be arrogant, Ozma is misunderstood to be cold. She so isn't in the slightest. She treats the ugliest, most dangerous and scariest beast with utmost care and admiration, she gets excited at the sight of a rare specimen even if it could bite her head off in a second, and would risk her safety just to study or help it.

It's people where her enthusiasm dissolves, she is presented as introverted as well which is why sometimes she says things that don't come across all that great. Sure, sometimes she doesn't care because she's not interested in socializing, but she sometimes just doesn't know (example - the bloody water and floating guts comment in Beasts for Karn).

I gotta admit, it also confuses me how Buzz could come off as misogynistic towards Ozma - dammit that guy went in and memorized the most boring stuff in the universe (in his opinion) just to go in and try to impress her. He respects her work greatly - it's just in a field he's never cared for until now. Ozma could've been a male character and it would've been the same thing, because it's not Ozma herself that Buzz doesn't understand, but it's her cause.

He frankly just doesn't know how to act towards people he's interested in or that are interested in him. That's why he gives her unwanted validation - he's just genuinely impressed with her, which is why he's interested in the first place, but has no idea how to express it. He doesn't think any less of her.

Ozma was willing to team up with Zurg to protect the millennial bugs, Buzz was willing to kill Karnian beasts to get back on track with his mission. Both are just as bad, we gotta admit that. But throughout the three episodes we see them together, we see them learn to make more and more compromises for each other. They learn to see the other's perspective, and in their last chronological episode Return to Karn, they barely have fights at all (sure, there's a bit of banter, but it's nowhere near as agressive as it was before). I would kill to see how it would have progressed further.

She just reminds him of himself too much. Remember Good Ol' Buzz? He could barely stand himself because of how stubborn, abrupt and close minded he can be. It's the same thing with Ozma! She has the same traits, and so does he, and it turns into a screaming match until it turns into something else. Because that's just how they are.

So how the hell could this ever work for them? Simple - they are the only ones that could understand each other. With any other partner it would be "you chose your career over me!". If Buzz wasn't an awkward mess he could pull anyone he wants - he wants Ozma because she doesn't care who he is. Because she's brilliant, assertive, a badass and fearless. Because he has to prove himself and it doesn't come easy for him. If she doesn't care for his reputation, why is she interested? For the same reasons - he's just an awesome and determined person. He doesn't give up and believes in everything that is good, to the point of naivete. Because if anyone can give you hope in humanity's goodness, it's him.

And as much as I want to add the darker layer that Ozma might also be subconsciously reminding Buzz of Zurg but from a safe distance, that's a bit too much of a biased interpretation, and we might not be ready for that talk yet.

Hot take (not really)

Gene and Tina are most definitely autistic. They’re the two characters in the show that show the most obvious autistic traits; Gene does have meltdowns on occasion (best example of this is season 7 episode 8 “The Laser-inth”) and has a major special interest in music, as well as his general lack of understanding in social situations (like when he talks about his bodily functions at inappropriate moments). Tina vocal stims CONSTANTLY. Like. It’s one of the things her character is known for! I’ve heard people say that she’s not stimming because she only does it when things are going wrong or when she’s stressed/anxious but stimming is often a self-soothing method. So yeah, she stims. She has a major special interest in horses and idk her erotic friend-fiction does not strike me as neurotypical lol. And of course there’s her general social awkwardness lol how could I forget that

Louise, Bob, and Linda are neurodivergent for sure!! And I think that a great argument can be made for Bob being autistic! In fact, i do headcannon him as being autistic, just as an autistic person that is masking almost constantly. The only time he lets himself unmask is when he’s doing something that pertains to his special interests (burgers, cooking, Thanksgiving) or when he’s doing something he’s invested in! There’s also the fact that he humanizes inanimate objects like cooking utensils and food (among many, many other things) but that’s not necessarily an autistic trait in Bob, I honestly think it’s more of a trauma response to him having a really rough childhood. He’s also shown to have a really hard time in social situations and he often feels like something is wrong with him, or that he’s too different from everyone else to really fit in. This is actually something that all the Belchers are shown to experience throughout the series. Back to Bob though, while I think that this feeling of being too different and not fitting is likely due to autism AND his rough upbringing all in one.

Onto Linda and Louise. To me, they’re the most ambiguous out of all the Belchers. There are some episodes that I watch where I think that they totally could be Autistic and then in other episodes I think “meh, not so much”. There’s for sure some ADHD in there though (same could be said for Gene). They do both show that they have an issue with authority figures though, which is an Autistic trait, but it could also just be that they’re generally rebellious characters lol

All this being said, I want to state right here and now that I totally accept that not everyone thinks the Belchers are autistic. That’s completely valid! I recognize that neurotypical people often project themselves onto TV show characters that they relate to. What I’m saying though, is that there are a lot of signs that most (if not all) the Belchers are autistic/neurodivergent. I really love Bob’s burgers discourse, and if anyone wants to help me out with Linda and Louise then please do :) I find that I have a harder time with them because they’re just not characters that I am able to relate my own experiences to

Not the same anon as before but Im glad I'm not alone I also have such a hard time shipping aemond with anyone. I pretty much cant read any aemond fics that aren't y/n type fics because I get jealous too 😭 I'm in the complete same boat as you because before ewans aemond showed up I was reading daemon×rhaenyra fics, harwin×rhaenyra fics, daemon×oc, etc but with aemond it's just different ig. I think (or hoping) that for me alys will be different because she's his canon love interest and and I think I'll really like her. It kinda helps that I look like her lol. I'm just really hoping that they're truly in love for aemonds sake, I would feel so bad for him if his only experience with a relationship was because of magic or something especially after how he lost his v card. Also as far as alys goes I'm so excited to see how aemond treats her to see what hes like in relationships in general, like is he more touchy with his girlfriend, is he softer with her than most people, what kind of love language he has, is he the jealous type,stuff like that 👀 also we should all just call you alys rivers from now on LOL so by the time she comes on screen you'll be used to it 😂

Omfg they look sooo good together. She's so dark and mysterious and beautiful and I love that Aemond ends up with her of all people (that is - IF there is NO manipulation involved with how they fall in love). Yay, today's tag game is a Q&A, for which I have @tabswrites to thank! Tess's post is here.

What is your absolute all-time favorite idea you’ve ever had?

Well, I thought it was writing a memoir about the two months I spent on a tall ship sailing across the Atlantic Ocean. The publishing industry thought differently, and now my agent won't return my calls. 😂

Actually, I think all of the ideas that I've actually gone on to execute (except that one, but granted, I only ever wrote three chapters) were good. If an idea isn't good, I probably won't get far with it.

Is there a question you’ve been asked in the past that really stands out to you, and you still think about sometimes?

I've been asked (in a nice way) why I like to write the things I like to write about in fiction (whump and slavery in particular). I could probably write a paper on it, but it's something I don't mind thinking deeply about. Is it trauma? Is it just personal preference? Is it a bit of both? I probably will never know.

What is your favorite part of being a writer? What parts could you take or leave?

Making people feel things via my stories. Think about what a powerful gift that is. You created a fictional person and someone cared enough about them (in that moment) anyway to feel an emotion based on what happened to them. I'm actually not always great at expressing emotion in my real life (I mean, who is) and I DEFINITELY suck at telling stories verbally. (Seriously, it surprises people that I can't tell an anecdote to save my life; I get tongue-tied and awkward. I just can't do it). But I love writing stories because it's the best means (sometimes the only means) I know to make a connection with someone emotionally in that way.

Wait, do you actually mean "controversial," or do you mean just plain evil? Because I have plenty of villains whose mindsets are just ... not good at all. Assuming you mean just controversial and/or morally gray, Jake from Good Slaves Never Break the Rules has ideals that are noble, but his methods are, well, less so. It's not entirely his fault, though!

If you, when you first started writing, met you now, what would younger you think?

I think she'd probably hit me over the head with a wiffle bat (I started writing when I was four or five so I feel that would be her weapon of choice) for getting so far away from my roots (i.e. writing romance and things I'm passionate about) and taking this long to get back to them.

11. Do you believe in the old advice to “kill your darlings?” Are you a ruthless darling assassin? What happens to the darlings you murder? Do you have a darling graveyard? Do you grieve?

(Note: This one has several unpopular opinions re: authors rewriting fics in particular, so please just...do not keep reading if you've ever rewritten a story you've released on AO3 or rewritten a serial or something, because like, slakdfjas how I feel about what I do has nothing to do with how other people do their stuff, lol).

Hmm.

Okay, yes, I do have a darling graveyard. In total, since I started writing as a kid, I've shelved about 5-6 completed novels. Maybe more. I didn't do it while actively writing them, I finished them, really believed in them, and one day reread them and realised they would stay on my hard-drive. That's fine. I don't really grieve them. Some I feel nothing for. In fact not having many feelings about the story was one of the reasons I shelved it.

I am not, otherwise, a very brutal 'kill your darlings' person. I'm a big believer in restorative methods and problem solving. For anyone who is familiar with Clifton Strengths, Restorative is in my top 10. I would rather fix or mend something, than shelve it or give up on it, and that part of my personality is a perfect match with writing an ongoing serial.

Here's the thing, I write most of my serials in an ongoing way with no plan. If I abandon the serial, I abandon my readers who are invested in the serial. That's a very different process to writing a novel that no one else except maybe an editor or beta is seeing.

I have to be - imho - from an integrity perspective, accountable to the process. And the process demands that I not pull a serial halfway through and then replace it with something new or not replace it at all. Firstly, there will be readers who always prefer the first version, and that shafts them. And secondly, it is almost always possible to mend a story, or write yourself out of a cul de sac. I enjoy the problem solving, I enjoy thinking on my feet, and the moments of being blocked because I broke something in the story are vastly outweighed by the times I unblocked and let the river flow again.

This is also why when I edit Game Theory, I'll always leave the original on AO3. It's also why I haven't deleted fanfic I'm actually pretty ashamed of and couldn't reread again. Like I have het Glee fanfiction on my not_poignant account and I never want to read it again. I'm not deleting it. I'm not going to shelve it. People gave it kudos, they bookmarked it, and I don't know those people and I know they can read something better, but once it's up, I am accountable to that visibility. I know what it feels like to go back and read that one special fic that for some reason you just really love, only to find out it's been deleted. And yes, we can always download stories, but I can also just choose not to be a dickhead to my readers in that fashion, so I won't.

Putting the rest under a cut because well there's more but also I might be very Unpopular Opinion about this and I feel pretty strongly about it.

(There are of course valid reasons people delete their stories, like, 'this username is connected to my legal name and I'll get fired if these stories are found' (though they can always be orphaned / made anonymous), but 'I hate this story' to me is just... /thinks/ I don't really want to let my mental illness win or be more important than the folks who might really love that one story and find something important in it. That's just.... how I think about it - if I can make sure another reader never feels that kneejerk broken-hearted feeling of having a favourite fic deleted, even just a dumb little Glee fic that's terrible, then like, yeah I won't make them feel that way just because I feel something like shame or disappointment in something. Because I have the power to also not think about those stories and then it doesn't affect me lmao).

I always have very mixed feelings when authors remove or completely rewrite a fanfic for example on AO3 - it is obviously completely their right, I feel really sad on behalf of every reader who will forever miss that original version. And as a reader, I've had this happen to me. An author has removed or rewritten a story, and I just loved the original more. I've never loved a rewritten version of a fic more than the original version. Not once. Not ever. Some of us preferred the more raw and ugly version, that was less like a generic novel and felt less like 'I've learned how to publish books now so I'm going to polish this up even though that's not why almost any of my readers are here.' And I'm painfully conscious of that re: Game Theory lol.

I guess I have really strong opinions about this. I don't know how to explain it. I feel like once I put something in public, I have pledged a certain amount of loyalty to a story, and a certain amount of respect and dignity to the reader. My loyalty to the story is that I will make it the best it can be in my capacity at the time. My respect and dignity re: the reader is that I will respect their love of the thing, even at the expense of indulging the intrusive thoughts of a mental illness, even if I don't understand how anyone could love the thing.

Shelving a serial isn't really something I want to do, and that's the closest I think I come to 'killing your darlings.' These days, therefore, I'm just a lot more discerning about what long-term projects I commit to before I commit to them. Because once I'm in, I'm all in. I'd rather quit writing entirely than leave a big serial unfinished, delete it, and start something else instead. Like, how bad am I at writing if I can't mend what I broke?

(Again, this isn't how I feel about other people's writing, it's just very important to my process that I be accountable to the story and the characters once I get started. I suspect other authors instead are more accountable to the quality of the writing and in giving their readers the most 'perfect' version of a story ever, or maybe they're just more accountable to that niggling 'I could have done that better' feeling. It manifests in many different ways! My method works best for me, but it is very much tied in with my personal sense of ethics and values that I impose on myself and try and live by.)

As to grieving... There's one novel I really regret shelving the most, but that's because I shelved it for reasons partially outside of my control - it needs an Australian Aboriginal sensitivity reader who is comfortable reading m/m romance with explicit sex. After months and months of searching, I found someone, gave them an upfront $150 USD deposit (about 6 years ago now), with the rest to come later, and they disappeared with my money and never spoke to me again. Ever since then, I have looked occasionally for a sensitivity reader in that area, but I've kind of suspected it's too niche of a thing to need, and I also can't lose that much money again. I've never spent that much on a single marketing budget for Perth Shifters, for example.

That's a standalone Fae Tales novel set in the southern hemisphere, with an entirely new cast, called Tradewinds and I'd really love for y'all to read it, but I sadly don't see it ever happening.

That one I'm really sad about. And I guess I could rewrite it to have zero Aboriginal Australian representation even though it's set in Australia, but like... :/ Y'know? Not ideal. But maybe that's the only way this story can exist, or maybe it just shouldn't exist in the first place. So it's shelved. A very few select people have read it, and everyone who's read it has enjoyed it, but none of those people have been Aboriginal Australian, and you know, I don't want to make some kind of horrendously awful fuck-up so we just... quietly leave that one in its folder and forget it exists most of the time.

15. Do you write in the margins of your books? Dog-ear your pages? Read in the bath? Why or why not? Do you judge people who do these things? Can we still be friends?

Mmm, I only write in the margins of some books, and only if they're mine.

I dog-ear my pages, I don't care how expensive or special edition the book is. If it's mine, I can do what I want with it. I see no point in being precious about physical objects, when what matters are the words inside, and not whether the page has a crease in it.

I don't read in the bath because I don't have baths. But also because I want to empty my head in the bath, so I just want to not think about anything at all.

I don't judge people who do any of these things to their own property. I get mad if they do it to my property (basic respect bruh), and I do judge the people who judge me for what I do with my own property. They're in the same category as grammar pedants, imho.

It's going to be a long answer :

No one is immune to procrastination, although you can take steps to reduce The Urge to do so

1. Use forest/YPT to block apps that are not study related.

2. Go study somewhere else - library, cafe anywhere and don't keep your phone on the table (better if you don't take it out at all!)

3. Set a different notification tone for important contacts so you'll only check it when necessary.

4. Have whatever drink/snack you like to keep you motivated as you sit down, I personally don't keep these things as reward after completing the task, I think I'm worthy enough to enjoy these things as I study - it has really helped boost morale :)

5. Don't set a ”start time” for a task instead set an end time, for example, “I will complete these 10 questions before 10 AM” is better than “I will start at 9”. Trust me it works. Try it out!!

6. Have a study role model - Rory, Hermione, Elle anyone, have someone you can look up to!

7. Divide your task on the basis of energy — so if you ever felt like you have less energy you can easily switch to the low energy task (for example, keep question solving when you have high energy and reviewing organic reactions when you have less)

8. If you aren't feeling motivated enough trust that once you start performing well in these weekly tests, your confidence will boost and it's all worth for that sweet, sweet Academic Validation

9. Juggle your habits/methods if they get boring.

10. If you suddenly remember Something and it requires you to get up, break your flow, then write it down on a sticky-note / on a notebook and get to it after your session.

11. No idea whether you are addicted to your phone or a particular website But if you are breaking this addiction, it will take time and the first few impulses would be the hardest to control, if you manage to overpower it it won't require this active engagement anymore. And even if you slip a few times, don't worry it's great because you're trying.

I don’t know whether I should say this publicly or not because I’m wary of the reaction I might get for it as a Demi fan but I’m going to anyway in the interest of expanding my and hopefully other people’s consciousness. I feel like ‘29’ is a song we would have never gotten from Demi if Wilmer didn’t break up with them. That’s not to say that I think that if they were still together that there still isn’t a problem. It’s just that in some way I feel ‘29’ is more of a revenge type of song than it is a spreading awareness type of song. I sorta feel like Demi wouldn’t be admitting to the relationship between her and Wilmer Valderrama as being predatory and childhood grooming if he never dumped her. You know what I mean? I mean it’s really not my place to speculate on what went down between them in the breakup, but since Demi is putting the subject out there of her own volition… I thought I’d say my piece on it. I, of course, still commend her on it and think it’s very brave to release a song like ‘29’ because she is right. But at the same time, I think their realizing and acknowledging that it was childhood grooming what Wilmer did to Demi sorta came about because they broke up and her hurt feelings made her see or think of it in this way.

Demi’s a rare breed of human because for most people pain and anger clouds their mind and makes it difficult for them to assess a situation and judge it clearly or truthfully or fairly. But Demi’s different. When Demi feels in pain or angry, it only makes them see how things really are as opposed to how another who feels the same way would perceive them to be. And I can only assume the reason for that is because they’ve lived with the pain and anger longer than most people and so are familiar enough with it to sort of hone it like honing a skill they already possess to help and heal rather than using it as a weapon to hurt and harm. And I guess I, myself, can see it from this angle because of watching ‘Xena: Warrior Princess’. Xena is a character who - like Demi - has been on such a journey with pain and anger that they’ve figured out how to use it in a positive way over succumbing to a negative way. You know, because they’ve done the latter many times already and have noticed that it doesn’t serve them or anyone else. Huh… I’ve never compared Demi to Xena before. That’s certainly a new way of looking at them as a person. What I’m saying is both of them are able to translate pain and anger and turn it into something actually useful and beneficial for themselves and others. Initially, it comes from a place of bitterness, spite, rage and vengeance. A need to get a one-up. But throughout the journey of allowing themselves to feel these feelings rather than push them away or bottle them up inside themselves… Something wonderful happens. They are eventually compelled to save the day because of feeling them. Most people would honestly just crumble under the weight of their own feelings - of the pain and anger they feel. And they’d succumb to the urge to use them negatively. To lash out and attack. To cause pain and destruction. To essentially become their own worst enemy in becoming other people’s. I’m not saying Demi hasn’t done that. I’m saying they’ve done it to the point where they’ve realized it’s not helpful at all. They’ve grew from those horrible methods of coping with their own feelings of pain and anger and turned it around - turned it into something good. Something that is actually helpful. It’s really quite astonishing and it just goes to show you the depth of Demi’s character. The tenacity within them to just keep fucking going even when they feel like absolute shit in themselves when they feel this way.

So please, don’t think that what I’m saying about Demi’s writing, recording and releasing of ‘29’ is a mark against them in any way. It’s not. I’m just thinking about it a little deeper than most are. I think it’s a great song and I think no matter which way it came about or how it manifested,… the fact it exists at all is really a testament to Demi as an incredibly brave, honest and vulnerable person. A real human being. I am not insulting, judging or condemning them for it in any way by seeing it in this way. So please don’t take it that way. I just acknowledge a person’s pain and anger and see it as something they must feel and go through the motions with in however way they need to. It’s never a bad thing to me that a person ever feels these emotions. To me the whole point is to feel them when they come crawling into our skin and psyche. To allow ourselves to feel them. I think ‘29’ really just embodies the kind of person Demi really is inside and that that kind of person is truly amazing. A rare breed of human who - like Xena - not only learns and evolves from their emotions, but turns them into helpful resources for fighting for the greater good.

Introduction

The intentions of this blog are simple: it’s a notebook for my thoughts on the afterlife, as well as the context surrounding what makes it feasible and why I think the way that I do. I have a lot of thoughts on the afterlife! I certainly have more than anyone should at my ripe old age of twenty-two, but I take this knowledge in stride. It’s not like my life has tragically led to this, or I have any ulterior dogma to spread over the Internet. I just...have a brain and a mind and a lot of time to think about the big ol’ questions in life. After spinning these concepts around in my mind and churning them into something of a metaphysical soup, I figured that I may as well put these theories and thoughts--this delicious, soupy mess of reality--into words. Who knows? There might be someone else out there who resonates with them. 

I would like to preface this entire endeavour: I do not intend to change people’s minds, question their religion or lack thereof, or instill the belief that any of these pursuits are objectively, empirically true. I have not tested if there’s actually an afterlife, and if you’re a person who can interact with this post, you most certainly haven’t explored that frontier, either. I am a woman who believes in science’s power: yes, vaccines work, climate change is real, and I can’t believe these are things people love to be contrarian about. I regard science to be a great method of gaining knowledge about our world, and I think it is necessary for a society that wants to treat its people better. However, I also believe that spirituality is an often-neglected part of some people’s lives, too. It’s normal to believe these two things are different, because they are! But that does not make them incompatible. In its strictest sense, if you only believe in what you could empirically measure and see, many things cease to exist altogether: the intuition that you, reader, even experience self-awareness in the level that I do would not exist were I only to measure your brain waves, because I cannot experience what you experience; I cannot experience your qualia. The concept of having a soul or there being any kind of afterlife does not have to be at odds with scientific thought. It is my aim to marry these concepts in a way that makes some intuitive sense. Whether I actually accomplish this goal remains to be seen, but I do have faith in myself that these words will accomplish something, or at least broaden somebody’s mind in some form.

While I dabble in Wikipedia articles (yeah, lol, I know) I’m not a philosophy major, or a neuroscientist, or a theologist, or anything like that. I’m not even religious, nor have I been my entire life. But the interesting thing, I think, is that nobody needs to be for this sort of thing. Everyone is equipped with a soul and a mind and can explore these concepts as much as they please, no matter where they might be in life. If you do not enjoy hearing my theories or find my ideas to be utter nonsense, that is completely okay. I am one person, and one person’s thoughts will not be compatible with every other person’s thoughts. You, reading this, are a person as much as I am a person. Our instances of reality, though subjective to ourselves, are equally real. No more solipsism, or “I’m more important” attitudes. We have a responsibility to care about each other, all of us, and actually recognize our differences as a beautiful part of reality. This is idealistic and flowery, perhaps, but, to stay afloat in a very horrifying world, sometimes we must dream ourselves our happiness.

🌊- Don’t get him wrong, Giyuu loves you and all but he just assumed the injuries were from a demon after all that’s what you told him you had to no reason to lie right?

🌊- When he found out the truth he got extremely sad, he also got mad at himself for taking so long to notice

🌊- When he finds out he wouldn’t dare shout at you or make a scene out of it, instead he’ll calmly approach you and ask what’s the matter

🌊-If you don’t tell him right away he won’t pressure you to do so instead he’ll wait until you’re ready to talk

🌊- He’ll just sit next to you calmly in silence for hours and hours until you’re finally ready tell him

🌊- When you tell him the reason he would start to try and find a solution for the problem so you can feel better

🌊- He would also pull you in a soft hug and just let you cry on him while listening to you tell him what’s wrong

🔥- Rengoku would immediately notice that you self-harm, he is extremely observant when it comes to you so he’d be quick to realize

🔥- Like Giyuu he wouldn’t pressure you to tell him what’s the matter but he’ll wait until you’re ready to say

🔥- Rengoku would make sure you know that it’s not you vs the problem but rather you and him vs the problem

🔥- He’ll make sure you know he’s there for you and whatever problem there is you don’t have to go through it alone

🔥-He also isn’t the type to give you words such as “ it’s ok this problem will pass” or “you’ll get over ”, but rather say “ Don’t worry my little flame we will find a solution to the problem no matter what”

🔥- If you’re feeling helpless or upset and feel like self-harming again he’ll drop everything he’s doing to talk to you and try and calm you down

🔥- Rengoku would allow you to talk to him whenever. He would never tell you to go away or say he’s too busy. He’d also let you talk to him for hours it doesn’t matter to him just as long as you feel better

🔥- There are often occasions where you would be laying on his lap and he’ll gently rub your back as you cry and rant to him

Shinobu

🦋- She’ll notice right away, she’s a medic so she can tell the difference between real injuries and self- inflicted ones

🦋- She would become heartbroken to know you were so sad you felt the only way to feel better was pain

🦋- She would make all the butterfly girls leave and go to another room so she can talk to you in private when she found out

🦋- Even though some scars are already healed she would kiss every single one of them

🦋- She does it because she wants to ‘kiss it better’

🦋- She would place bandages and medicine all over the new cuts so they can heal properly

🦋- She is very patient with you, she understands that you won’t stop your self-harm just like that so she’ll take her time talking to you and helping you get over it

🦋- She would alway check up on you and whenever she does she always has some tea or your favorite food ready to talk and listen to you

🦋- She always encourages you to tell her you’re true feelings and never makes you feel emotional or dramatic for it

🦋- If she knows she’s going on a really long mission and won’t see you for while she’ll ask Kanao or one of the butterfly girls to check up on you but if you don’t want them to know about it she would keep it private and she’ll just constantly send you letters instead

Mitsuri

💖- When she found out she talked to you as soon as she could

💖- She found out during a pillar meeting when your sleeve accidentally lifted up showing all the unnatural scars

💖- She had waited after the pillar meeting, when you two were in private to talk about it. She knew you clearly didn’t want anyone to know so she was sure no one was around

💖- When she asked you about it she couldn’t help but break down crying, Mitsuri would blame her self for your self-harming and feel like she did something wrong to you but you’ll explain to her that it wasn’t her fault but she’ll still cry because you were hurting all this time and she didn’t know.

💖- Her number one method of helping you heal is showing you lots and lots of love and care and showing you she is there for you

💖- So that basically means more sweets, more tea parties, hugs and kisses,more l love you, her complementing you all the time etc

💖- She had also bought you a bunny, so if she ever went on long missions you’ll always have “ someone” to talk to.

Sanemi

☁️- At first he would be kind of angry. Angry at himself for not noticing and angry at you for not telling him

☁️- Genya was the one who had told him , Genya being your worried younger brother in law couldn’t stand by and watch you do this to yourself

☁️- Sanemi’s first thought was to yell at you for doing it but then he thought you’d probably be afraid to talk to him about it if he did

☁️- He’ll burst in your room and yell “Y/N I KNOW YOU INTENTIONALLY HURT YOUR SELF”

☁️- You expecting him to yell about it prepared for more but when he reached you he just shoved your face into his chest and pulled you in for a soft hug

☁️- He’ll then say he was sorry you had to go through all this pain alone and sorry that he wasn’t there for you

☁️- He’ll allow you to cry on his shoulder for as long as you’d like

☁️- He wouldn’t care that you’re messing up his slayer uniform nor how long you’re crying for

☁️- While you’re crying he’ll reassure he is now and will forever be there for you and he’ll also reassure you and you can tell him anything

☁️- This wasn’t the only time he allowed you to cry on his shoulder,after the one time you cried he wouldn’t easily dismiss the matter but instead constantly bring it up to make sure you’re getting better

Obanai

🐍- He’s a very observation person especially when it comes to you so he’ll notice your self-harming rather quickly

🐍- He was very patient with you, so the first time he asked and you didn’t tell him he waited until you were ready, like Giyuu he didn’t force you to talk about it.

🐍- When you two did talk about it he never judged you or made you feel bad for doing it, he never called your self harming ‘ attention seeking’ or called you dramatic for doing it

🐍- instead he’ll empathize with you and try to understand why you’re doing it

🐍-Obanai is definitely not one to show physical affection, he rather shows he loves you through words of affirmation BUT If you ever need him to hold you or hug you he’d be more than glad to do it

🐍- He’ll alway hold on onto you and assure you he’ll try and help you solve the problem

🐍- You’ll also have Kaburamaru to be your support snake he’ll alway wraps hisself around you or rub his head on your check to try and make you feel better

🐍- Obanai always try his best to make you feel better and he will near you every second of the day he’s right next to you to because he wants to be a constant reminder that you’re not alone

Uzui

🔊- It was own of the wives that told him about it

🔊- Uzui would immediately blame himself he would think you were probably upset that he was giving one of his wives e attention than you

🔊- He’ll then immediately go to you and apologies for it but then you’ll explain to him that’s not the reason. He’ll then feel relieved but immediately worry knowing there’s something making his love sad

🔊- He is the type to not assume what would make you feel better but would ask you how he could help. He’d ask if you want to talk about it with him, if you wanna talk to someone else maybe one of the wives, if you wanna be left alone, if you want a support animal ( yes willing to get you a cat/dog/lizard etc to make you feel better 😌)

🔊- He would kindly ask for you to give him the weapons you use for self-harm, he refuses to do it by force because that’ll make matters worst, if you don’t give it to him the time he’ll constantly ask for always in a soft and calm voice

🔊- If you’re a slayer he’ll even go as far and take away your sword he’d only give it back if he’s sure someone else is going on a mission with you and they can watch you or if he’s going

🔊- He would also get all of his wives to separately talk to you and try to make you feel better

Gyomei

🪨-He would cry as soon as he found out

🪨-Like Shinobu he would be extremely heartbroken and his heat would weep for you

🪨- He absolutely hates the fact that you hurt yourself and would always cry thinking about it or if he hears you did it again

🪨- If the reason you are cutting yourself is because you don’t feel like you are good enough he would remind you of all your good qualities and there are lot

🪨- He’ll also wrap his arms around you and cuddle you as you cry because he knows how much you love it

🪨- Gyomei, if you allow it likes to gently rub all your self-injury scars because he believes you deserve comfort for going through all that pain

🪨-He wound often call them battle scars he does it because he believes that you did in fact went through a battle with many problems and you won

🪨- He is very gentle and patient when it comes to your self-harming , when he speaks to you about it and gives you advice it’s always in a soft and calming voice and whenever you rant or cry about how you feel he’ll patiently wait there for hours and let you speak, he’ll only speak when he knows that you are done, he wouldn’t dare interrupt you

He understands, he understands more than anyone- so he thinks. I mean, he’s a ghost. He literally cannot be seen by anyone who isn’t an exorcist, near death, a fellow supernatural, or bound to him in some way.

Still… honestly, he gets pretty defensive over you-

They can’t hear him, but you can. (They can’t hear you, but he certainly can.) It’s honestly somewhat humorous, Hanako standing behind you, shouting that they’d better listen up!!

“IF YOU GUYS MAKE (Y/N) REPEAT HERSELF ONE MORE TIME?? Are they deaf, (Y/N)?? I think they’re deaf?????”

His reactions like that are half-joking-half-serious. He’s genuinely upset that they treat you like that- but he hopes that all his ranting and going on helps you to feel better somehow?

He can’t exactly follow you on trips, but! He makes Yashiro “Honorary (Y/N) Defense”! Meaning, since he can’t, she’ll defend you in his place!

You get interrupted or ignored? Hanako tells Yashiro to help you out, and (though she would any way) she’s raising her hand somewhat shyly- explaining that you were trying to talk.

Getting left behind on a field trip? Yashiro is sticking by your side! She turns around constantly, making sure that you keep up with her, and especially making sure that you get on the bus with the rest! As per Hanako’s request, and her own care for you, she’ll let you sit next to her.

Hanako is always very talkative, but he’s still very patient with you- he loves to have conversations with you, which is a big reason he doesn’t get why they treat you like that. You’re such a great person-! You’ve got such a cute voice-!!! Why don’t they listen-?!!!

To be honest, he finds your stutter kind of cute… he’s quite bold, so you being timid is something he doesn’t mind! Hanako doesn’t mind listening out for you- even if the other people aren’t in a relationship for you, isn’t it… basic human decency?? What happened to that???

“It’s really alright, Hanako. Things like this have happened since I was little- it hurts sometimes, but I’m mostly used to it.”

Hanako would then grab your shoulders gently, looking in your eyes with some determination!

“You shouldn’t have to be used to that!! I’m used to it because I’m dead, but you’re… alive. You can be heard and seen by everyone, yet they choose to not listen- it’s… ridiculous. I’m sorry that you have to deal with that, (Y/N)... really.”

Uncharacteristically soft moment, but it simply hits different for him due to personal experience. I’m sure as a human, the only time people saw him were when he was bullied, and now he’s- obviously- not seen by nearly anyone. It’s such a lonely feeling, and he genuinely hates that you can relate to it.

Teru Minamoto <3

It’s hard to not garner attention as Teru Minamoto’s girlfriend- so, people certainly acknowledge you once your relationship is made public/becomes obvious.

But! Before the entire school knew about the Prince having a girlfriend, Teru was… quite defensive over you- even before the two of you were a couple, he’d notice the way others seemed to step all over you. Ignoring you, interrupting you, forgetting about you.

Like Hanako, he doesn’t get it? You’ve got his attention, how do you not have anyone else’s? You’re so cute… and really do have a lovely voice, appearance, and overall are really pleasant to be around?? If anything you deserve more praise than he does-

He also doesn’t get it due to the fact that people acknowledge him a little too much-

Anyway, he tends to give that praise he thinks you deserve to you!

Meaning, he brags on you so much. Compliments you to your face, telling you how nice it is to converse with you- telling his family how lovely of a person you are. He even mentions it to classmates, which does start to earn others being more noticeable of your presence.

Not afraid to stick up for you in the least!! Who wouldn’t listen to Teru?? The moment someone interrupts, he’s politely making his way into the conversation- offering an “I’m sorry, I don’t think (Y/N) got her chance to speak.”

“Th-That’s okay, Teru. I appreciate it, but I’m used to things like that,” You told him after class, slightly embarrassed.

“Used to things like being ignored?”

“Yeah..?”

“...you shouldn’t have to be. I’d never be upset with you, but it does upset me that people have been so willing to pretend you aren’t there? I think you’re lovely, and nearly impossible to ignore. It’s simply confusing, I suppose.”

BRO if he, for some reason, isn’t on the field trip and you get forgotten- it’s game over for the chaperones will get their heads chewed off. Except he’ll be calm and collected while doing so- however, on the inside, he can’t express how upset he is.

“Is it not your job to make sure all the students are accounted for? What if (Y/N) had gotten lost? Do you not realize she could have been kidnapped? Should some low-life had decided to try anything strange, the blame would have been on you, and therefore our entire school. What would that do for both your’s and the school’s reputation?”

If he’s on the trip? You won’t be getting forgotten <3 Even you were to get distracted for a moment, he’s grabbing your hand and making sure you stay caught up with the class. Sits with you on the bus, and makes absolutely sure that you’re safe and with him!!

Akane Aoi <3

He worships the very ground you walk on. We all know how he treated Aoi? Well, now that’s how he treats you- maybe a bit less exaggerated and dramatic, but all that love and more is there!

So, he’s admiring you, and sees that you keep opening your mouth in an attempt to speak- only to have someone interrupt you, not even acknowledging that you’re there??

“Hey, (Y/N), what’s up?”

“O-oh, I was just trying to ask them something…”

“Oi, you heard her. Shut up for a moment and let (Y/N) get her question in.”

Most are somewhat aware of how scary Akane can be, so they’ll certainly listen whenever he’s there. Heck, people occasionally keep an extra eye open if they know he’s around- making sure they don’t unintentionally look past you.

If you dislike his very direct method, he’ll try to be nicer to others about it. But, he can’t help but get defensive- like our other boys, he admires you so much, and enjoys talking with you so much, that- by this point- others are simply missing out?? Like, it’s basically their loss for treating you like that. And it’s his mission to shower you in love and admiration to a point where others do the same- platonically of course, and boys better rethink anything that isn’t strictly “wow (Y/N) is cool, it’s cool that she’s taken by Akane.”

Cos, as we all know, if someone even says “oh, (Y/N) probably makes a cute girlfriend” it’s game over. RIP unknowing student, he had no mercy bashing their skull in </3

“Akane, it’s really fine, you know? Things like this happen been happening since... forever. I’m just not easily noticed, I suppose. I’m used to it!”

If he’s on the trip, like the others, he’s keeping an eye out for you constantly. He’ll hold your hand the entire time, stopping as you pleased, but keeping an eye out for the group. He wants you to see what you want, so you will- all while staying with the class, or at least close to the class. If he, for some reason, were to lose sight of the class, he takes comfort in the fact that you wouldn’t be lost alone.
