Can you please tell me about Shadow Magiajam
OK SO SHADOW MAGIA
You know how normal Magia is timid, shy, merciful, passive, won't fight if you held a gun to their head?
This One Is SO FULL OF VIOLENCE AND RAGE ALL OF THE TIME
Uhh. Brain juice low so have some things I've written on discord for them
Hm… Unlike normal Magia, their shadow self did try to take over paradise. Though not for selfish reason, see
The mirror matter gods were, in fact, heavily abusive towards the paradise gods. Physically and mentally. They hated that they even existed. And ShadowMagia hated them back with a fury unmatched by any. The other paradise gods openly hated eachother as well, often pit against one and other by the paradise gods themself- so instead of awkwardly existing together unsure of where they stand, everyone just hated eachother. So the little shadow flame wished to do something about it. Harboring all of their anger towards their own mistreatment, and the mistreatment of the other gods though they didn't particularly care about them. Never once did anyone stand up for them, never once did they stand up for them…. Maybe this would make the gods… Less horrible.
spoiler! It didn't help, Magia just kept getting more pissed, the matter gods were brutal and couldn't get the serpent to calm down even after impaling them with millions of heart spears, even after they took a spear to the heart and broke it [which is also how Magia ended up with their heart broken in two to make Jorrolor and Vatafilor] to break them out of their true form, even after they screamed so much and so loudly they put a spear through their muzzle so they'd never speak again did the god ever back down. Instead getting angrier and angrier to the point where! They didn't CARE what or who they destroyed they just wanted their enemy dead!!!
So, without a way to permanently kill them, the matter gods finally cast them from paradise, so sealed that they could do nothing but cry and thrash their heavily injured body. If they weren't so restrainted there's a good chance they'd just have destroyed a big chunck of the universe with their rage alone. It died down over the years of solitude… but never ceased.* So like Magia! Started out with good intentions! Unlike them, they are the worlds angriest most adrenaline filled cat
Another thing about Shadow Magia… Is that they almost never let themself cry. Even if they really need to, they just will not! It's a defense mechanism because the matter gods never took kindly to such an emotion back in paradise, so now they only know how to cope via violence. Though they did manage to slip occasionally, though only when they've really really fucked up, like the day they were cast out of paradise and sealed away- then when they cry it's hard and messy.
Pretty sure most the mirror gods are like. High-Key terrified of Shadow Magia. They are AWFUL to them still but like the second they're free those bitches are fleeing to paradise because FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK it's like a hungry lion people constantly bug escaping their enclosure at a zoo
friend [would shadow magia envy regular magia?] abso fucking lutely They despise their counterpart. How come they get to be free and happy while they sit in darkness chained in a thousand spears? Why do they get freedom and the shadow gets imprisonment? They'd take more annoying gods then this hell any day it makes them so, so angry It's just so unfair. Maybe they hate seeing a version of themself so.. Meak. So much better than they are. Maybe it's knowing that they could be free, but aren't. Their matter gods hated them more then the brightworlders hate normal magia also I need a name for shadow magia. That's not shadow magia. Gets annoying to type sjdndks But yes. Deep, deep envy for their other self
Due to the. [gestures widely at all the heart spears jabbed into their back] Issues, Shadow Magia's back is actually really sensitive, a weak spot, it's really hard to heal from that many heart spears even if you're an overpowered god so! Also their broken wing bones hurt extra badly when touched [so does normal Magia but to a much lesser extent and also they're on fire so it's not really an issue for them] God — 04/27/2023 10:22 AM
this means shadow Magia actually has a much bigger weak spot- normal Magia just doesn't have an obvious one but shadow's is their entire back so despite how vicious they are they'd be easier to take down
[not really]Fun fact, sometimes Shadow Magia will get so angry and try to use their power so, so hard that on top of the heart spears they're impaled on they accidentally burn themself on the energy they try and fail to release
they chose the specific method of dealing with the angry magic god like that they'd say that there was literally nothing else they could do- mirrors can't kill eachother so they're undeniably weaker then their brightworld counterparts and unlike brightworld Magia this one never relented and only got more mad. Sealing them was a favor for the entire mirrorworld because clearly they'd fuck it up beyond repair otherwise

A Traveler in the Grove
Tumblr media
The laughter of children is the first thing you hear as you approach the Grove. Two great trees mark its entrance, and your sharp eyes make out young ones of every race running about. Your heart swells at the sight.
You approach slowly, soaking in every moment you can of the scene before you. A great thudding noise breaks your peace. A brown bear suddenly races through the flock of children, a young elf boy sitting on its back.
Halsin. Your heart skips a beat. It’s been months since you were last able to visit the Grove, but the memory of your time spent with Halsin has graced your thoughts every day since. You’ve craved his touch and his voice.
A tiefling girl is the first to notice your approach. “Tav! Tav is here!” She begins sprinting towards you, the rest of the group following her. Shouts and whoops of excitement fill your ears.
You can’t stop yourself from grinning as you squat down to greet the children. Tiny arms embrace you before the sheer volume of them becomes too much, and you're knocked over into a pile of giggles and tight hugs.
“Easy now, children, you want to keep her in one piece.” A deep voice breaks through the noise.
You’re finally able to sit up and are met with the sight of the man you’ve been dreaming of. Your skin flushes as you take in his broad frame and kind smile
“I believe they’ve missed you,” Halsin says as he offers you a hand. His skin is warm against yours as he helps you up. “And I would be lying if I said I haven’t thought of you often as well.”
Your cheeks redden at his words, and you nearly laugh at yourself. For months you’ve been making your way through the world, healing others and helping to rebuild. And here you are blushing like some love sick adolescent.
“You must be tired from your travels,” he continues. “I’ll make us some tea and you can rest.”
He places a hand along the small of your back. Shivers run along your spine as he leads you into the Grove.
The mug of tea warms your hands as you lean back in the surprisingly comfortable wooden chair by the fire. Not surprising considering Halsin made the chair himself.
Excitement thrums in your veins. A gift for him rests in the inner pocket of your jacket. You wait until a comfortable silence rests over you before reaching for it.
“I brought you something,” you tell him, pulling out the gift wrapped in a brown cloth.
His eyes light up, and he leans forward to take it from you. He gives you a smile before tugging at the twine holding it together. The cloth falls away, revealing two leather bound books.
“I know how much you love your books, and I was thinking you would like these ones as well,” you tell him.
Halsin’s large fingers flip through the pages. The books you selected for him are filled with tales surrounding nature. Stories of dwarves and elves exploring mountain ranges and country sides. As happy as Halsin is to settle down, you’re sure there’s a side of him that misses the freedom to roam. At least this way you can bring the adventure to him.
He stands up abruptly, and strides over to gather you in his arms. He squeezes you so tightly it nearly takes your breath away. You laugh against his chest.
“I take it you like them?” You ask, voice muffled.
He releases you just enough to look at you. “They’re beautiful,” he replies. He tilts your chin up and presses his lips to yours. You nearly melt under his touch. Your memory doesn’t do him justice. Nothing can remind you of how powerful his kiss is.
He breaks the kiss and lets his forehead rest against yours, an intimate movement that has your chest swelling with affection.
“I’ve truly missed you, my heart,” he says.
“I’ve missed you too,” you respond, nuzzling your forehead against his. You take a deep breath, inhaling his comforting scent.
He steps away and lets his gaze roam over you, as if he needs to take in every possible moment he has with you.
But his eyes say something more. There’s something apparent that’s taking up his thoughts.
You take his hand in yours. “What is it, love?”
A look of amusement flickers across his expression. “Is it that obvious?” He asks.
You let out a light laugh. “You tend to say a lot without needing to speak.”
He smirks. He looks down to your joined hands. “I want you to stay this time.” His eyes meet yours then. “I want you to stay with me.”
You’re not surprised by his words. This has needed a discussion for some time. Your heart aches to be with him, but there’s always been a tug within you to help those out in the world. And after the events with the mind flayers, there’s no shortage of those who need healing.
Your throat grows a bit thick. “I want to, I really do.” You force yourself to meet his gaze. “But I can’t just leave those in the realm to suffer.”
A beat of silence passes, the crackling of the fire the only sound. “I understand, better than most. But what if I told you we needed you? Me. The children. The other druids.” His voice remains soft. “We’re always in need of someone to help with the children, to cure their illnesses, and their injuries. And they love you dearly. As do I.”
His words unleash a deep longing within you. A longing to be here. To have a home and to be held at the end of the day. And yet you’ve never allowed yourself this thought, because you believed you needed to do more.
But with Halsin standing before you, asking you to stay, everything within you tells you that this is where you belong.
You reach up and brush a dark strand of hair away from his face. His green eyes are hopeful.
“As long as you have mead on hand, I’ll stay,” you say.
He laughs. A deep, beautiful sound. He pulls you into his arms again, kissing you deeply. His hands roam along your hips to your bottom, his joy clearly apparent by his actions.
“We should go tell the children, Daddy Halsin,” you say, laughing against his lips.
A low growl leaves his throat. “It can wait.”

I Know The End
Pairings: Roronoa Zoro x f!reader, platonic strawhats x f!reader
Summary: This is based on one of my favorite songs, I Know The End by Phoebe Bridgers, and I take the meaning of this song as a "when you're at the bottom, the only way is up" kind of song. Reader is a friend of Nami, she has air powers and joins the Strawhats after they help her save her town.
Warnings: Mild East Blue spoilers, kinda OC Zoro, typical OP violence, otherwise pure fluff, no use of Y/N
WC: 3.7κ
A/N: Oi, hello there! This is my first One Piece fanfic, took me a bit more than I expected but I did it! I have another one for my first request on the way, but since this is my first, I had to post one about my fave! Also, I'm sorry for any mistakes, english is not my first language. Anyways, hope you enjoy it, and if you do, pretty please leave a comment! Requests are open! ❤️
“I’m not gonna go down with my hometown in a tornado, I’m gonna chase it. I gotta go now, I know. Driving out into the sun, let the ultraviolet cover me up. Went looking for a creation myth, ended up with a pair of cracked lips… A slaughterhouse, an outlet mall, slot machines, fear of God… Big bolt of lightning hanging low. Over the coast everyone’s convinced it’s a government drone or an alien spaceship.”
Feeling out of place is something you get used to when living in this part of the East Blue and seek adventure; it is called the weakest sea for some reason after all. Even if she loved her living place, she disliked the fact that people mostly minded their own business without blinking an eye to the suffering and corruption around them. She couldn’t entirely blame them; it wasn’t an easy thing caring about neighboring regions when your own was constantly hit by natural disasters, causing deaths and lifetime labors destroyed.
She had just learned that the Conomi Islands had been freed by Arlong’s cruel rule after eight whole years. She wondered how Nami was. They had met a couple of years ago when she caught her rummaging her family’s vault and helped her through it without getting her caught. She hid her in her room while the Navy was looking for the thief. She didn’t need the money and it was obvious to her that Nami did. Nami was her first real friend. The week they spent together, drinking and getting to know each other, talking about their backstories, their wants and plans for the future was the best in her life. She had promised that after she’d buy her village back and free it, she’d come to see her again. She hadn’t heard from Nami since.
They said it was because of the Marines the islands were liberated. She could never believe that for one second. Her curious personality always managed to get her into the Navy’s business, making her family’s influence and prestige on the island take a hit every time she got into trouble with them. She couldn’t help that all this talk from the Marines about justice and keeping the peace made her want to throw up on their shiny uniforms. She knew it was all an act for them and their allies to maintain power. How could Marines talk about values when regions and people were enslaved and the Navy turned a blind eye instead of helping, just for power and some berries?
Her dream was to end all that fake order and bring actual freedom to those in need; to become a freedom fighter and help people. She needed the right opportunity but also, she had to take advantage of every situation if she wanted to get away from that place someday and seek what she so wholeheartedly craved. So she learned her family’s secrets and strengths. It’s not every day you see generations of people knowing how to yield the air around them, giving them a bunch of abilities like flying or sucking the air out of their enemies’ lungs or causing hurricanes of every size. She knew when to play nice and be obedient so that her parents would teach her their ways, thinking that she would grow out of her rebellious phase, would learn about and protect her family’s rule. It’s not an easy task for them to cover up the Navy’s dirt on the island after all.
The more she mastered her power, the more she could see that something was wrong with her family. She had started to notice the patterns. Every time the island was hit by a storm or a natural disaster, they were never home. At first, it would make sense that they’d go and help their people. Then, after the storms, her island’s Navy unit and its captain started collecting “taxes” for rebuilding the infrastructures. Thing was, the taxes would constantly go up, bringing inhabitants to their knees. Meanwhile, her family didn’t seem affected at all. They would just roam the island, giving advices and pacifying the angry voices that protested the Navy. So, she decided, in the next hurricane, she would learn her parents and older siblings’ sketchy business. She had to know what was the cause of all this and what she could do to change it.
~
Meeting new people travelling between islands and seas was a fascinating thing. She loved hearing stories about their adventures, about different places and bigger dangers, fights between pirates and marines or about the golden age of piracy. About the Grand Line, the different weather conditions in each island, the devil fruits and the abilities they gave their users. She would always wander through the port, looking for more myths coming to life by the sailors that docked their ships on her island for supplies.
When she spotted a beautiful pirate caravel, with a sheep figurehead in its bow and its Jolly Roger with a straw hat, docked in their port, she felt a strange wave of excitement and peace. She couldn’t explain it but that beautiful ship radiated so much love and care, like it had a soul of its own and a smile that made everyone feel like home if they stepped into it. She stood there, admiring it from afar, when she felt someone standing next to her.
“She’s beautiful, isn’t she? Her name is Merry! She’s my ship.”
She turned to look at the stranger. A boy around the same age as hers, with a small scar under his right eye and a straw hat on his head, and that made her assume this was the captain. He had a smile so vibrant, it reminded her of the sun. His energy was so welcoming, she felt like she could be friends with him on a whim.
“Hello. She is indeed a sight to behold.”
She gave him a warm smile back, raising her hand to introduce herself.
“That’s a pretty name. I’m Luffy, and I’m gonna be King Of The Pirates!”
She couldn’t help but laugh, but it had no malice. She loved dreamers, being one herself, and even if she met that boy only a couple of minutes ago, she could see he would give everyone in the world a run for their money. A gust of wind blew, taking his hat away, and before he could react, she brought it back to him through the air around her. She placed it on his head and gave him a toothy grin.
“There! You can’t be King Of The Pirates without your trademark, right?”
“THANK YOU! YOU’VE GOT AIR POWERS? THAT’S SO COOL! YOU SHOULD JOIN OUR CREW!”
She was dumbfounded by his enthusiasm and his abrupt proposal. Never had she met anyone like him, so thrilled by her presence and her little air tricks. Before she could reply, she heard footsteps and another male voice behind her.
“Oi Luffy, stop scaring people by asking them to join us like that, will you?”
She turned to look at the deeper voice, and for a moment it felt like lighting coursing through her veins. Taller and more muscular than the boy next to her, he looked a bit older than them both, with short green hair and eyes gray as steel, three golden earrings that gleamed in the sunlight graced his left ear. He had a sharp gaze that radiated a strong and confident energy, one that lacked fear or hesitation. She never believed in love at first sight, but this felt as close as she could imagine it would feel. The man approached them and introduced himself to her.
“Roronoa Zoro? As in ‘Pirate Hunter’ Zoro? In a pirate crew?”
Of course she had heard of his reputation. Who didn’t know the infamous bounty hunter swordsman in the East Blue? He chuckled at her surprise.
“Yeah, well, long story short, this guy here has an effect of convincing people easily.”
“There you are, you idiots! We’ve been looking for you everywhere! We’re not here for me to babysit you not getting lost, we’re here to find my-”
She heard a familiar female shriek before she felt soft arms around her, squeezing her tight, and she immediately knew who it was. She could never forget her best friend’s hugs. She returned the hug as she screamed Nami’s name, before they both started to cry tears of joy. Her hand grabbed her upper arm, and she felt deep scars where her Arlong tattoo should be but was replaced by another, prettier one.
“I was so worried about you! I learned what happened to your village and I didn’t know what to think!”
“You should have known I’d be okay, you know I always pull through. Although, these guys were the greatest help I could get. They are the reason I’m freed and I wanted to keep my promise to you.”
She looked at the boys around them with gratitude, two more joining them, a blond boy wearing a suit, who looked like he would burst into flames from the heart eyes on his face and another one with wavy hair, a long nose and mischief in his eyes.
“I can’t thank you enough for helping my friend. She means the world to me!”
“Whoa, Nami’s your friend? Now you should definitely join our crew! We’ve heard so much about you, the only reason we stopped here before Loguetown was to find you!” Luffy said with enthusiasm.
“Yes, it’s not every day you hear someone born into money giving them away without question, hiding the thief in addition and fighting their way to get them out safely. You must be quite the character.” Zoro smirked at her.
“And to add to that, you’re also a sight to behold, my lady!” the blond boy said as he kissed her hand and introduced himself as Sanji, making her laugh at his advances.
“We’ve heard you have a great mind for plans too. Could use a strategist in this group of idiots that run into danger head on. I always device a plan to beat my enemies. I’m Usopp by the way.”
She was dumbfounded to say the least, taking them all and their kind words in. She met these guys a few moments ago, yet never had she felt such a feeling of being so welcomed by the people around her, she was so used to being ignored that this interaction almost made her sob. She kissed Nami’s cheek before letting her go.
“I… thank you guys… you’re all so sweet… but I don’t think I’m that good-”
“Bullshit, you’ll be the smartest person besides me in this crew. Come on now, I know how much you long to get the hell out of this place, they’ve never appreciated you anyways, and I don’t think anything changed since we met.” Nami proclaimed, smiling at her.
“No… not much anyway. I just learned how to use my powers now… Look, I don’t know what to think of this, I have-”
A loud rumble shook the earth below them. She felt the temperature drop rapidly and she knew what was coming. Now was her chance to find out the truth she looked for, the one that could possibly make her decide to cut ties with her family if her speculations were true. She turned to the Strawhats, as they called themselves, and smiled brightly.
“Thank you guys. But I have to run now. There are rooms for rent down this road, run and cover yourselves and don’t come out before the storm passes. Maybe I’ll see you around after that.”
As they started to protest, she flew off to the source of the hurricane she could see coming from afar.
And sure enough, the feeling of throwing up from disgust and despair overwhelmed her when she arrived at the source. She saw her family controlling the hurricanes and lightings that hit her island, and the Navy captain, who she knew was a devil fruit user, was shaking the ground, causing the earthquake, while his Unit watched from the sidewalks. Bodies were scattered around damaged buildings, scenery of pure horror. Before she could react to stop this, she felt boulders hitting her, splitting her lips and bruising her body, blood running down her jaw as she fell down.
~
Logically, everything fell into place. Emotionally, nothing made sense. She couldn’t comprehend how she could have been raised by such cruel people. Her eyes welled up with tears, but not from the pain she felt on her body, but from the sight in front of her, as her parents approached her, proclaiming she was not mature enough to understand their family’s best interest and how she has always been such a disappointment, never listening, never following orders, an annoying, meddling child.
“Do whatever you want; we can’t do anything about her anymore.” Her parents proclaimed to the navy captain as he too approached.
“You’ve always been a pain in the ass and I can finally get rid of you.” The captain proclaimed as he unsheathed his sword.
She closed her eyes but she never felt the blade on her skin. The captain’s scream echoed as his arm got cut off from the shoulder, his sword hitting the ground.
“Swords are not toys, captain. You don’t get to play with them.”
Her head spin to the male voice behind her and her eyes widen as she saw the five pirates ready to fight. Zoro was the closest to her, having drawn one of his swords that was now covered in blood, leaving a clean cut on the marine’s shoulder. Usopp was standing a few feet behind, a slingshot in his hand as he shoot at the navy soldiers, the collision ended in blasts and the soldiers started to run away. Nami was holding a strange, long, steel pole that seemed by its use to control the weather around them with air bubbles.
“You’re not hurting a lady on my watch.” Sanji proclaimed before his leg collided with the bleeding captain’s face, kicking him to the ground.
“He was already done, curlybrows.”
“Shut your mouth, marimo!”
They were bickering as if they all were not in a life or death situation. The most shocking thing was Luffy, who was stretching his body as he was wielding what seemed to be the bark of a tree around, taking soldiers and her family with it.
“Nami said you had problems with your family. You seemed worried. So we followed you.” He said with a toothy grin.
Zoro grabbed her hand and raised her from the ground.
“You know how to fight I assume?”
“Yes I do.”
“Well then, let’s give them hell, pretty girl.”
~
Either way, we’re not alone. I’ll find a new place to be from. A haunted house with a picket fence, to float around and ghost my friends. I’m not afraid to disappear. The billboard said "The End Is Near". I turned around, there was nothing there. Yeah, I guess the end is here.”
And sure enough, she couldn’t believe the six of them managed to stop the destruction while fighting the whole navy unit and her family combined, who were now running away from the angry crowd that had assembled when the hurricanes stopped and saw the whole thing happening.
“You guys… I can’t thank you enough-”
“Pffff, that was nothing, it was funny being blown away, felt like flying hehe.” Luffy laughed as he grabbed her in a hug. “You’re Nami’s friend, so you are our friend too!”
She had started crying by now as she hugged Luffy back, the feelings she felt in that moment couldn’t be described.
“I think… I think I’ll join you guys!”
~
A week had passed since her family fled off the island that was now filled with marines who listed the damages and arrested their own dirty kind. They had made a futile attempt to take the strawhats in, and before they would even start a fight, the people of the island wreaked havoc, not even letting them close to their saviors. She took the crew in the house that was now hers.
She helped Nami move all the gold from the house onto their ship. She gave Usopp advices for his trinkets and how they would fly through the air easier. She cooked with Sanji and then would catalog the storages that would be taken with them to their journey, with Luffy receiving several kicks from the cook because he tried to eat everything. She had never had so much fun in her life as she had with them. Her favorite moments came at night, usually spent drinking with Zoro. They had talked about their childhoods, he had told her about his family how died when he was a toddler, his promise to his childhood friend who died way before her time, how he acquired that big scar across his chest. The more she got to know him, the more connected she felt to him, like a final puzzle piece falling right in to place.
On their last night, everyone was fast asleep, getting the rest they’d need since they would cross the entrance to the Grand Line the next day. But her anticipation wouldn’t let her sleep. After tossing and turning for what seemed like hours, she got off her bed and walked around the house, taking it in one last time. She had decided to gift it to a large family whose home got destroyed. It was a fact that she didn’t want anything to do with that place anymore. Tomorrow morning her life would change forever. Her mind leading her nowhere in particular, she walked to her terrace. The wind, soft and gentle, rustled through the leaves of the trees, creating a soothing melody, and she could see the sea ahead, illuminated by the moon, which casted a silvery glow on the water. It was a peaceful scene, yet she could feel her heart racing when she saw Zoro sitting on the bench of her terrace, polishing his swords.
“Why aren’t you sleeping?” he asked as he glanced at her.
“I… I guess I’m nervous about tomorrow.”
“It must be a little overwhelming, I guess. Don’t worry though, we’re a good crew, we’ll take care of you.”
A small smile played on his lips. His words were reassuring, but there was something else in his tone, something that made her heart skip a beat. She bit her lip, walking to the edge of the terrace, her hands holding on to the railing as she tried to find the right words to say.
“I know I’ll be safe with you, guys. It’s just… it feels like the end is near for me in this place… and being in a pirate crew is going to be something so new and big… and I don’t feel like I bring a lot on the table…”
He chuckled softly as he placed his swords down, walking towards to stand next to her, taking her hand in his to give a firm squeeze.
“The end is near for this part of your life, indeed. But you’re strong, you’re brave, and you’re a great fighter. You’ve been through a lot and yet you’re one of the kindest people I’ve met, still standing here, ready to face whatever comes next. That takes a lot of courage, and it takes character. I think you bring a lot, and you’re going to fit right in with us. You’re not alone.”
She smiled shyly, feeling warmth spread through her chest, her eyes almost welling up. He smiled back, his expression genuine.
“Thank you, Zoro. You really have no idea how much that means.”
“I think I do. I know what it’s like to be uncertain about the future, to feel like you don’t belong anywhere. But you belong with us now. You’re going to make a great crewmate. It’s good to have you on board. I have a feeling you’re going to surprise all of us with what you can do.” He paused, his expression a bit more serious. “And… if you need to talk… or vent or… anything… I’m here.”
A deep blush crept up across her cheeks. “I… thank you… for everything. Same goes for me.”
She felt her heart flutter as he continued to hold her hand, her stare moving to meet his gaze. She couldn’t help but feel more at ease with him and he couldn’t deny the way he felt either.
“For now, I think we should just enjoy being together and explore this new thing we’ll find ourselves in. Who knows what kind of trouble we’ll stumble upon?”
“I’m looking forward to seeing what awaits us.” She leaned a bit closer, her voice dropping to a whisper. “And I’m looking forward to get to know you better too.”
It was time for his heart to skip a beat at her words. Her eyes widened but before she could shy away, he leaned in closer, and their lips met in a tender, hesitant kiss, a slow, gentle brushing of lips. The sounds of the forest faded away, leaving only the beating of their hearts and the rush of blood in their ears.
~
“Take care!”
“Come back soon!”
“Sorry I was mean to you, can’t wait to see you again!”
“Be safe and make us proud!”
“Don’t disappear!”
Most of the town’s people were at the port to give their regards to the strawhats and her. The others were already abroad, her being the last to climb the rope ladder on to her new home. She turned around before hoping on to the deck, and took in how weird and eerie her town looked now, like looking at a haunted house from afar.
“So, the end is near, then?”
She lifted her head to see Zoro’s smirk as he gave her his hand to lift her on to the ship. Someone shouted at her to not disappear. She wasn’t afraid of that. She was afraid of staying still. Her head turned around one last time and she saw nothing there.
“Yeah, I guess, the end is here.”
And she took his hand.

C: Hi there! Even if I've been reading dick Grayson(and in turn batfamily) fics for a few weeks now, I've never actually watched/read DC stuff because even if I liked superheroes, I'm not invested enough to read the actual comics. The most I watched was the Teen Titans 2003 cartoon(which I love). I was brought into interest cause I was brought in through crossovers of other fandoms (which may be hated by some/many😅)
To give myself context, I tried to read around for Robin, and imagine my surprise there's more than one? Which, okay mantle thing I guess. But in the end, Dick Grayson caught my attention(not rlly for his looks and design, but more of his heroism and entire personality and affect in the DC world). Which leads to looking at other tumblrs and I love reading yours and when you answer the asks cause it's so much easier for me to understand the kind of person Dick is and how he interacts with the world.
Sorry for this long context, but I just want maybe your opinion, what if your opinion in the combination of how Dick Grayson should be written for him to Thrive
- Should he stay in Gotham, being in with the batfamily more? Soloing in Bludhaven? Staying with the titans? Or others?
- what about his romantic relationships? Who should be is one true one(based on canon gfs), or maybe stay single? (Just gonna be biased, but I've only knew about dickbabs and dickkory (but I heard he has other girlfriends and I've remember reading he was almost married...a few times??) but dickkory had always been for me)
- What about mentally wise? (Of course, I do think Dick needs a long vacation because of all the trauma that he has to go through), but even if I like the idea of Dick being admired for his looks because he deserves it, but I do rmbr posts that he is uncomfy with this(sexualisation, Def only staying true to the person he loves (then there's the whole...Tarantula and more thing)
Tbf, I do think is a little bit of all is what makes Dick, Dick. Haha
Sorry for the long ask, feel free to not answer because i just needed to get this out😅. I know it's actually bad I'm reading fics without canon knowledge for personality, but your posts makes me understand him more that I understand what's real and what's fanon in fics (that makes me..ugh.. but I read anyway for plot cause i don't know better)
But thank you anyway for reading this and I love your content!
(last one for this ask I swear: I've been seeing stuff where Robin name is actually Dick's mom calling Dick that. Then it's passed down as a mantle starting from Jason without Dick consenting. I tried to read at wiki, maybe I missed out but I can't find anything. Is it true? Does the other bats (except Bruce and Alfred?) know the actual meaning? Because as much as I love Dami, the whole bloodson, birthright to take the mantle of Robin beside Batman give me ugh feelings if it's true) :C
First of all, thank you so much!! I'm so happy to hear you like my stuff <333!!
I think it's fine that you started in the fandom since I sort of started out that way too lol. I had only watched Teen Titans Animated show and Young Justice before I got into fanfics and my first comic I ever read was actually Teen Titans (2011) which was Tim's run. It's been a journey.
Dick's personality was also what captivated me so here I am!
"Should he stay in Gotham, being in with the batfamily more? Soloing in Bludhaven? Staying with the titans? Or others?"
That's a really good question and a complex one. Ironically, for being such a people person, Dick seems to be doing best when he's by himself. When he's soloing, he has a sense of freedom and independence that he's been craving for a long time. The whole reason he left Bruce was because he felt like Bruce was suddenly treating him like a kid, like someone to look after, when he had been treating Dick like a partner the whole time. When Dick feels like his independence is being stepped on, it unsettles him. This is another reason why the Tom Taylor run and Dick's relationship pisses me off but that's for another time. As much as he likes Gotham, he loves Bludhaven. He thinks it's a dirty, crime-filled city, sure, but he loves it there.
He's a little crazy like that.
He doesn't have the same attachment to Gotham that Bruce does. Instead he feels that for Bludhaven.
The only reason I'm saying Dick is better off staying alone than with the Titans is because of his leadership mentality. There's a comic that I forgot the name of but Dick teams up with members of the Justice League and they trapeze through a jungle under the orders of this corrupt military general. He teams up with Arthur and automatically starts commanding people to which Aquaman tells him off, saying this isn't the Titans. Dick is genuinely sorry and backs off. For a minute. But immediately goes right back into command mode but Arthur lets it go, realizing that Dick's not conscious of it and that his behaviour is automatic. "Too many leaders" he calls the situation in his head. For Dick, the Titans have become a responsibility now. He loves them like crazy but they look up at him automatically for directions and order and he's gotten so used to leading them that it's his go to mode.
He just likes doing stuff without someone hovering over his shoulder or having to take care of others.
"what about his romantic relationships? Who should be is one true one(based on canon gfs), or maybe stay single? (Just gonna be biased, but I've only knew about dickbabs and dickkory (but I heard he has other girlfriends and I've remember reading he was almost married…a few times??) but dickkory had always been for me)"
Yeah, I've actually loved almost all of his romantic relationships. I hate Dickbabs but every other one has been fantastic. Kori was great for him.

Action Comics (1938) Issue #618
Dick says it again here. He used to envy Roy's freedom. He's also said in another comic that he fell in love with Kori for her freedom.

You're right, he has gotten almost married a few times
The first time was with Kori

But then

The New Titans (1988) Issue #100
their pastor gets vaporised and body-controlled Raven feeds the soul of one of Trigon's children into Kori and she goes crazy but she recovers but it's a whole ordeal. In the end they don't get a chance to complete their marriage. They were spectacular together though. The only reason their wedding didn't go through is because the Batfam writers wanted Dick back so they took him from the Titans' writers and they needed a big dramatic scene to cut him off from the Titans. Another reason why Barbara was deaged and created as a love interest- to gatekeep him in the family.
He's also gotten married to Barbara before the retcon though.

Batman Family Issue #11
But here they were forced to by Maze and they went along with it and tricked him. At the end though, they just grab a bite to eat.
Ngl I actually would've supported this marriage. I really love this Barbara. Yes the age difference is a bit much but whatever, I still like them.
Dick and Barbara have gotten married in an alternate timeline.
Tumblr media
Convergence: Nightwing/Oracle Issue #2
yeah, definitely didn't like this one.
Dick's also gotten fake married to a woman because Batman and Dick thought she was killing her husbands after marrying them so Dick married her to see if it was true.
Tumblr media
Nightwing (1996) Annual #1
I liked her. She wasn't the killer and Dick did a fantastic job raising her son but even though she loved him, he didn't love her and they divorced amicably. I wish I could see more of her and her son though.
To be completely honest, my favorites for Dick are Kori and Bea.
Bea was a fantastic partner. She was understanding, loving, caring, and responsible. She was there when he was Ric Grayson and just loved him for who he was.
Tumblr media
Nightwing (2016) Issue #53
If Kori's truly out of the picture, then Dick really should've settled down with her.
Tumblr media
Nightwing (2016) Issue #57
She and Kori, they don't tell Dick what to do or who to be. They let him be free which is why I loved them an extraordinary amount. I'm a sucker for soft moments and Bea and Dick are couple goals.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nightwing (2016) Issue #62
They give him the freedom he craves.
"What about mentally wise? (Of course, I do think Dick needs a long vacation because of all the trauma that he has to go through), but even if I like the idea of Dick being admired for his looks because he deserves it, but I do rmbr posts that he is uncomfy with this(sexualisation, Def only staying true to the person he loves (then there's the whole...Tarantula and more thing)"
I think Dick does need a break. His life has been a series of unfortunate events but despite all that, I think he loves it that way. Dick loves the thrill of adventure. It's the heart of who he is and why he became robin. The excitement he gets when fighting or doing crazy stunts - he loves all of it and that is his coping mechanism. I guess in order for him to thrive, Bruce needs to stop dumping all his trauma and stop expecting him to be there for him at all times of the day. Dick keeps getting dragged back to Gotham to take care of Bruce and his problems and he would go in a heartbeat but he's much happier wacking his own goons in Bludhaven. But since Bruce is so codependent on Dick, this pattern's not gonna stop anytime soon.
Truth be told I also like Dick being admired for his looks. I don't like him being called out by it though. First of all why would you comment "hot booty" to someone? It's degrading and humiliating even if you think it's a compliment. Some things are better left untold. But regardless of what people think, Dick will always be pretty and everyone in the DC universe knows this. Heroes, civilians, villains - they're all attracted to him on some level because he's so beautiful. And honestly? I'm all for it! Because that boy is the prettiest human in existence and he deserves that recognition. Just not vocally or physically.
The best thing is that Dick's beauty has no bearing on his mentality toward people. This man will choose one person and stick with them forever. He values intimacy and trust and love in his relationships which is why he's so attached to each one. This plays a massive role in his relationship with Kori. He would never cheat. Actually in all the future comics, after his spouse passes away or leaves, he never remarries. The only one exception was Batman Beyond (2016). The only one and he remarries Barbara after his wife passes away. Aside from that he remains a single parent. That's how dedicated he is.
"I've been seeing stuff where Robin name is actually Dick's mom calling Dick that. Then it's passed down as a mantle starting from Jason without Dick consenting. I tried to read at wiki, maybe I missed out but I can't find anything. Is it true? Does the other bats (except Bruce and Alfred?) know the actual meaning? Because as much as I love Dami, the whole bloodson, birthright to take the mantle of Robin beside Batman give me ugh feelings if it's true)"
Yup Dick's mother called Dick Robin.
Tumblr media
Nightwing (2011) Issue #0
Tumblr media
Robin (1993) Annual #4
Here's a couple but there are more instances of his mom calling him Robin.
Dick had no idea Bruce passed on the Robin costume. He finds out through the newspaper because Bruce is pissed at Dick. Like he's so mad that when he told Dick to leave, Dick actually left.
You know how there's a saying about not being able to take back words of anger? Bruce is feeling that heavily. He already had suspicions that Dick wanted to leave but before Dick could tell him, he fired him so he wouldn't have to hear those words. But Bruce is super mad that Dick left anyway. So what does he do? He makes the first boy he sees Robin.
And Jason finds out Dick was Robin when he confronts Bruce why Nightwing knows Bruce's identity. And that gets Bruce more mad because he's now feeling guilty which is when Dick comes to confront Bruce.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Batman (1940) Issue #416
But instead of meeting anger for anger, Dick expresses his hurt. About how they were partners and then talks about his life after leaving Bruce.
Tumblr media
And Bruce loves Dick. His best friend, son, brother, and partner for nearly 11 years. They raised each other and despite his anger, he smiles in pride and love.
Tumblr media
Batman (1940) Issue #416
Look at his smile!! He's so proud of his son.
And that's when Dick stops pulling his punches.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Batman (1940) Issue #416
Bruce looks so wrecked. The guilt and sorrow is tantamount to his pain.
Then Dick asks Bruce why he choose someone new.
Tumblr media
Batman (1940) Issue #416
So Bruce tells him. But Dick and Bruce's relationship go way deeper than just friends or family. They know each other. They revolve around each other so Dick calls him out.
Tumblr media
Batman (1940) Issue #416
And out comes the truth
Tumblr media
Batman (1940) Issue #416
But Dick has always been the bigger man and instead of letting Jason become some sort of spite move, he turns Robin into a legacy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Batman (1940) Issue #416
He passes it down like it was meant to be passed down. Because let's be honest here. The Robin name and costume is Dick's. If he wanted to, he could've taken it back, Bruce be damned. And that was one of Jason's fears.
Tumblr media
Batman (1940) Issue #416
But despite Bruce's words to Jason
Tumblr media
Batman (1940) Issue #416
He's not sure himself.
Tumblr media
Batman (1940) Issue #416
But it's only with Dick's approval that he becomes Robin which is what Bruce is thanking at the end.
Tumblr media
Batman (1940) Issue #416
And this has been a sort of tradition.
Dick approved of Jason being Robin, he endorsed Tim, and he made Damian Robin. The only exception being Stephanie. This is why Dick feels a heavy sense of responsibility over the robin predicament. He created the tradition. He approved, supported, and mentored every robin that walked in his colors and name. That's why he feels the burden of it.
I don't think any of the other robins know the meaning behind the name. Maybe they do. But ironically, the one who wasn't robin is the one who knows the meaning of it.
Duke.

I feel like Alastor made that deal to save his life. That'd be so much more tragic and create so much more conflict if he was literally on the verge of death and someone told him either you do this or you die. In general as someone with thanatophobia I do headcanon Alastor as a person who's very, very afraid of death which just adds to the panic he had in the finale.
Something that I really see in Alastor's character over and over again is that sure, he craves power and control and he loves having that but also he wants to be seen; to mean something. He's an entertainer with his radio show. He's killed terrible people probably because of his moral code, yes, but I think also to give himself this grand purpose (think Light from Death Note) of bringing justice etc.
Alastor hates fading into the background, he hates being overshadowed (Lucifer), hates when people do not give a shit about him. He clearly cares about his reputation; wants the other overlords to wonder where he's been even though he has no intention of giving that information out whatsoever. A lot of people really do want him to be this powerful villain who seems untouchable but I really like the theory of Alastor being a fraud. A Wizard of Oz type character. With all of his power coming from his deal. I love the idea of "The Radio Demon" being this grand persona he carefully crafted for himself and now bases his identity around and hiding everything behind a smile when underneath it all; without the deal, without his reputation; he is just a very traumatized, slightly pathetic little man who fears nothing more than cracks in his facade and going back to being that little mixed kid in Louisiana whose dad hated him and who was treated like he was never going to make it as a radio star or like he doesn't matter. The whole taking charge of one's own fate quote really drives that theory home for me.
I've never seen Alastor as someone who wants control because he's a power hungry maniac, he wants control because he grew up without that; because even now every day in that deal is a reminder of how much his life depends on the forces around him. I see Alastor as someone with this delusional idea of freedom that if he just puts himself above everyone, if he's able to take on anything; he'll finally feel free when in reality the biggest problems are his unaddressed fears, his perspective and his mental illnesses. And the more he fails, the more this drives him insane.
I think deep inside he feels pathetic and more vulnerable than he actually is and it's why he lashes out at Husk and immediately gets into this dick measuring contest with Lucifer. Episode 5 really showcases how impulsive and meaninglessly destructive Alastor can be when he feels threatened. Like a hissy cat.
And what would be a worse fate for someone like that than to die in hell, bound to a contract, owned by someone; only to fade away into nothingness for all eternity and eventually be forgotten like he never meant anything? I think that's the worst possible scenario for him and the only thing that could get him to put himself into a deal no matter the terms. Because at least if he's alive, he still has a chance.
DAAAMN yeah this is pretty crazy, I mean I personally don't even have my own theory on what the deal could be so I just accept whatever people throw out there
the thing with the idea of all his power coming from his deal is that then we'd have to assume the deal was made very early on in his time in hell (since well. he does have a long reputation pre-absence), and in that case the making of his deal wouldn't have caused his 7-year absence, and if not then why did he disappear for 7 years? why does it coincide with lilith? was it still something related to his deal??
I don't really have any theory I agree or disagree with in particular, I'm just consuming all of them and will see if anyone's hit the nail on the head when it's revealed in the show proper

ok. chainsaw man chapter 155 tatsuki fujimoto rips my heart out of my chest edition.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
makima’s search for intimacy in p1 mirrors denji’s. this search is their shared dream, a dream which is negotiated by their respective ideals: the girlfriend that denji wishes for, the Chainsaw Man makima “sought.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
both these ideals for them signifies in essence a deviation from the lives they both lead (first image set: carted to and fro from their meetings with the yakuza/the higher ups, the ones they’re enslaved to) in both a luxury and love denji never allows himself, a freedom and a chaotic that’s anthitetical to makima’s own performance of order.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and this for fujimoto is something that permeates all his text, this subversion of what is signified by connection, by family and intimacy, ultimately dragging you into the same cycle, chaining you to it. it’s agni & luna in fire punch: their love for each other being what makes them carve up their bodies, extending to togata (also existing in idealisation) who frames and directs the Story (the structure) in an effort to feel intimacy.
and here too: denji’s idea of partnership creates Versions of makima for him: her girlishness, her, presented. and makima’s vision of Chainsaw Man informs denji’s own reality.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this Chainsaw Man runs over into part 2 as does makima. and nayuta, concentrated in how she reforms makima, is specifically family. the very family makima concocted for denji as vessels for happiness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
family and happiness, context based connection are what immerses you in structure. unbalancing this utterly iconizes you. the icon makima hoped to create with this rupture was the Chainsaw Man. she tells him that he is incapable of normality because he killed his family, and in this chapter he tells himself that – she aims to author this rupture with her concoction of family but she herself is so intertwined in it. nayuta’s Makima in part 2 is this very intimacy, this family. the thing makima too craves.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and do you see here? the cycle? the way this worth in connection is what makes nayuta sacrifice herself for denji? togata sacrifice himself for agni? aki sacrifice himself for the hayakawa family as people cheer on the chainsaw man? the way in the end the rupture is self inflicted, the icon is self formed, and the protagonist is left forming context out of nothing? how so many of fujimoto’s relationships build upon idealisation of the other?
do you see here? the way they’ve all made dogs out of each other? denji holding pochita close, denji the dog. makima the dog, and the pets she dotes upon. nayuta and denji, walking the dogs together: they’re the culmination of the two’s part one relationship, the fulfillment of all their wishes in each other, and yet, yet
yet barem. the Dead Wife barem. building a mockery, a reproduction of makima’s self onto himself, tearing away homes, contexts to force them all back into this cycle. i said he didn’t understand the intimacy she wanted when i called him the Dead Wife to makima’s performance of Woman. the Woman, forever iconicised, obsessed over, suspected, subjugated…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the question: “who am i?” answered through context (family, connection) not identity intrinsic to oneself. dreams as dreamt through each other, “make my dreams come true for me!” denji tells pochita next to wanting him to live a normal life in his body. makima in the end, wanting to eat together, live together with the CSM, smoking a cigarette (uncharacteristic) in the graveyard.
all of part 2 then, cast over by this shadow. asa, navigating both solitude and connection through war. parasocial relationships. yuko becoming Justice for asa. the theatre scene, aspiration on screen viewed alongside the response of the person next to you. and asa in the orphanage, told that she can’t have a family, that she must exist decontextualised – and now structure, hunger, reproduction doing just that, part 2's deconstruction to part 1's construction, ripping it all away, backing you into this cycle.

I’m about to learn what the overlap is for Astrology and BG3 - I give to you my takes on the companions Big 3 (Sun, Moon, Rising)! Disclaimer: I did this on vibes alone
A quick break down for those unfamiliar: sun is ego, moon is emotional world both how we process and express emotion, rising is our house of self, how others perceive us., who we fundamentally come across as
Karlach: Taurus Sun, Leo Moon, Sag rising. Starting off strong and easy, girlie is a Sag rising without question, she loves spontaneity, good humor, trying new things, wants to explore and see the world and take it all in. Taurus sun, I think she’s a fairly grounded character and it takes a lot to make her angry - what she is angry about though are long standing grudges where people have done her quite dirty. Provoke the Bull, get the horns. Leo moon: she wants to illuminate and shine her optimism and love onto others. Has great hair, strong sense of humor, bold, a flair for the dramatic.
Gale: Pisces sun, Libra moon, Taurus rising. I had a surprisingly hard time with him. I think he’s a March Pisces specifically. He is a little delulu and has a huge imagination as well as capacity for empathy, humanitarianism. Romantic. Plus, baby cow eyes. Big water sign energy there. Taurus Rising: our boy is quite stubborn and enjoys a bit of lavishness from time to time. Conjures a bed instead of sex on the grass. The five senses matter a great deal to him - Taurus is ruled by Venus after all and is a very sensual sign. Great cook. The moon I struggled with and ultimately think he’s a Libra moon. He craves intellectual stimulation, strong people pleasing tendencies and also values relationships and partnerships. Very romantic. Libra moons thrive and seek out partnerships and as it’s an air sign, is also very intellectually driven and aroused by intelligence/harmony/beauty in all forms (arts, food, people)
Astarion: Cancer sun, Scorpio moon, Capricorn rising. No further questions your honor. In all seriousness, nothing screams moody, sarcastic vampire like Scorpio and cancer. Capricorn because of the restriction imposed upon him. All of these placements are really sweet to their people, everyone else.. well.. just keep your distance, darling
Shadowheart: Gemini Sun, Capricorn Moon, Scorpio rising. Girl is secretive and emo as heck, and emotionally cold and distant (AT FIRST!) Capricorn moons hold their cards close to their chest as do all Scorpio placements. Gemini for her fluctuating nature, enjoys talking, is a chameleon in many respects. Needs intellectual stimulation and likes the back and forth, can be a playful person
Lae’zel: Aries sun, Aqua Moon, Aries rising. As far as I’m concerned, she is the pinnical of Aries: head-strong, straightforward (sometimes at the expense of others), courageous, short tempered and outwardly aggressive as opposed to Scorpio or cap aggression which is more subtle. Lae’zel says what she means and means what she says. Impulsive. Can rub people the wrong way and is ultimately a lovey, soft hearted character once you get passed the sandpaper attitude. Aqua moon because they are humanitarian and look at the bigger picture, less squishy about their emotions yet have strong feelings. Tendency to Intellectualize emotions.
Wyll: Libra rising, Pisces moon, Sag sun. Sag because Wyll has a strong sense of duty and purpose, yet it’s coupled with a strong sense of freedom and zest for life. Expansive. Libra rising because he’s a good conversationalist, enjoys the arts and finer things, wants harmony and Justice, tries his best to avoid strong conflicts when he can. Pisces moon because I think our boy is so sweet and soft internally, and thinks and feels deeply about everything. Can feel misunderstood.
Bonus: (descriptions to come later if desired!)
Halsin: Gemini sun, Taurus Moon, Cancer rising
Minthara: Aqua Sun, Virgo Moon, Capricorn rising
Minsc: Leo sun, Gemini moon, Taurus rising
Jaheira: Capricorn sun, Cancer moon, Leo rising

Hello! As someone who struggled with a SH Addiction…as wild as it sounds. I was wondering if you could do Reader(Sh Addiciton) is clean but had urges again and is struggling to fight them with Emily helping them? It would help me as someone whose struggling rn lol

Siren Call
A/N: Hi lovie, I tried my best with this. I have struggled with depression since my teenage years, and suicide ideations throughout that time. To be transparent, I've never dealt with self-harm. I hope I managed to capture those feelings for you and do this justice.
To anyone reading this: Check the trigger warnings. Protect yourself. Please reach out if you're struggling. You're not alone and the world is better with you in it. <3
SAMHSA's National Hotline: 1-800-662- 4357, or text your zip code to 435748 for help near you.
Warnings: Mentions of self-harm/cutting, mentions of razors. It's not very graphic imo, but again, protect yourself if these are not things you feel okay reading.
Word Count: 1.4k
It was a rollercoaster of emotion flowing through you. Ups and downs and turns that you could hardly keep up with. Numbness, but at the same time, a devastating whirlwind of thought. You weren’t sure how you could feel so empty but so full of emotion at one time, but you were.
The depression was not new, a thing carried along with you every day from your adolescence, like a shadow or a tumor. Always there, sometimes bothersome, sometimes silent, and just waiting for a moment to shatter any progress you’ve made.
Everyone you’ve talked to has dealt with their mental health differently; therapy, medications, denial. And, sometimes, those did work for you. You met with your therapist once a week (less, if you couldn’t afford it), you were on your third antidepressant, and you tried so hard to ignore how your mind betrayed you.
The one thing that was consistent, that always helped with the emotions coursing through you, was physically releasing them.
The first time you cut yourself, you were sixteen. You’d only learned about it from the darker corners of the internet, a place you shouldn’t have been. Too young, too impressionable. But, the first slice of the razor against the skin of your thigh felt good. As the skin tore apart from itself, as the blood oozed from the wound, all of your negative feelings went too.
With each drop of blood, you felt the freedom from doubt, worry, anger, sadness. Each cut brought a feeling of euphoria, the dopamine replacing all of the emotions that were burying you.
It was a habit that continued throughout your teenage years, and even early twenties. When the destructive thoughts got too much, the razor was there to bring color back into your life. But, as you got older, you got smarter, more diligent in the way those terrible thoughts would creep into your mind, suffocating the joy from you. You learned better coping mechanisms, learned how to manage the craving of the sharpness of a blade against your fragile skin.
But still, the release would call to you, a siren of a dreadful sea you did not want to be a voyager on.
On such nights, when the waves of despair rocked you too roughly, your girlfriend Emily was usually there to distract you, a life preserver to stop you from drowning.
Unfortunately, Emily wasn’t always there. Her job was demanding, important, much more important than your broken brain. Which made tonight, a particularly rough night, hard for you.
Everything seemed to be weighing down on you, going wrong, unavoidable mishap after mishap. The shadows seemed to wrap themselves around your brain, spindly fingers digging their claws in with no sign of letting go.
The siren call beckoned, a melodious tune that pulled you in, easing the racing thoughts in your mind.
You stood in front of your bathroom mirror, the reflection in front of you hardly recognizable. Your skin pallor, dry, dark under your eyes. You licked around your chapped lips, feeling the fuzziness of your unbrushed teeth. Your clothes hung off of your body, loose from multiple days of wear. Unkempt hair, a tangled mess atop your head. You looked as rough as you felt, the lack of sleep and self-care exacerbating your inner turmoil.
Taking a shaky breath, you looked down at your hands, the newly purchased razor blade sitting in the box. Pretty, new, waiting for use. You imagined the shine of the blade against your skin, how the silver would contrast the uneven, blotchy shade of you. How the deep red hemoglobin would look, how it would bring color back to you.
The call got louder.
As you were about to tear open the box, a single word, a single thought, broke through the haze of your mind.
Emily.
The cacophony of noise halted. You knew that she wouldn’t be disappointed. She’s the only one who ever really understood this habit, this… addiction. Understood how the silence and the noise bantered back and forth in a way that was sensory overload, how sometimes the only way to get it to stop was to cut. To feel something else.
While she wouldn’t be disappointed, you could imagine the look on her face, how her eyes would hold all of her thoughts. She’d get you through it, she always has, but sometimes her looks haunted you more than your own thoughts did.
Instead, you picked up the phone.
It rang twice; she never sent you to voicemail unless she absolutely could not answer.
“Baby?” She whispered. You’d woken her up. “Everything okay?”
You tried to talk. The air was trapped in your lungs, the only noise escaping you a hollow breath, a crushed whimper.
You could hear Emily sit up in bed, the click of a lamp. “Love? Answer me.” Her voice was more alert, commanding, an edge of fear.
You swallowed hard. Your breath coming quicker, everything threatening to rush out of you. “Em,” another shaky whimper, a plea.
“Take a breath for me, sweetheart. You’re okay. I’m right here.” You could hear the rustling of clothes being pulled on.
The box in your hands rattled as it fumbled onto the bathroom sink, your trembling hands unable to hold it. Another thing you couldn’t do your mind hissed at you.
“I can’t - can’t ma-make it s-stop.” You forced the words out, stumbling them into each breath you inhaled.
“I’m coming, baby. Stay on the phone with me. You’re okay.” A car door slammed, the engine roaring to life. A siren.
“Listen to me. I’ll be right there. Listen to my voice.” Emily continued to talk, walking you through the case she was working on. How the weather was. Her favorite movie. Nonsensical ramblings to keep you focused on her. You’d grunt occasionally in response, a way to ensure her you were still listening, still there.
Your vision tunneled, black around the edges, as your grip on the sink tightened. You could feel the rush of blood through your body in your ears, your limbs starting to tingle as the  numbness started.
You weren’t sure how much time had passed before you heard the front door slam, hasty footsteps through the hallway. A hand covering yours.
Emily turned your body towards hers, her hands cupping your cheeks, trying to bring your eyes to hers.
You felt paralyzed, stuck in a mud so thick and deep you couldn’t move. You tried to focus on Emily’s voice, the rubbing of her thumbs across your cheekbones. You tried to blink, tried to get your eyes to focus.
Noticing that she wasn’t getting through to you, Emily wrapped you in the tightest hug she could, squeezing you as hard as her arms could handle. A way to help calm down your overactive nervous system, as if she was trying to transfer your energy to her.
Eventually the shaking calmed down, the pins and needles in your limbs still pushing and pulling, beating to the accelerated pace of your heart. You were finally able to look at Emily, her eyes shining in worry, but also protectiveness. A lighthouse in a stormy sea.
She tucked your hair behind your ear, checking over your body for signs of harm. Finding none, seeing the unopened box on the counter, she breathed a sigh of relief. “Let's go lay down, love.”
She all but dragged you to bed, shoving you under the covers before turning off the overhead light. She walked back into the bathroom, presumably to get rid of the box of razors.
Your eyes remained closed the entire time, listening to her fiddle around with things in your bedroom, the sound of her jeans hitting the carpeted floor before she joined you in bed. Her strong, warm arms wrapped around you, pulling you close to her, your head on her chest.
Her hands traversed your body, as if taking note of each inch of your scarred, but intact skin. She paid extra attention to your previous cuts, the scars healed and raised and pink, a testament of your ability to withstand. Each line a reminder that you made it. That while the emotion swelled over you, overtook you, that you came out on the other side stronger.
“Sleep, love. I’ll be here. We can talk about it in the morning.”
All at once, exhaustion engulfed you. You settled more into Emily, breathing in her perfume, realizing at once that she was your saving grace, your protector. You were capable of overcoming anything with her at your side.
Slowly, as you started to drift off to sleep, the blacks and grays of the shadows disappeared, replaced by a kaleidoscope of colors. Emily’s steady heart lulled you into a sense of comfort. In her arms, the noises and silence settled, the siren call faded into a calming ebb and flow of waves. What was once a tumultuous, dark and violent sea became a mellow, sparkling tide. With Emily, you were home and you were safe from the shadows that haunted you.

Beginner’s Lore Guide to Possession
Possession is when a spirit/demon from the Fade enters the waking world through inhabiting a host.
Why do spirits/demons want to possess people?
According to the Chantry, spirits/demons are jealous of mortals for being the favoured children of the Maker, and crave life’s experiences. This may be at least to some degree true, as Kitty, a desire demon in the Dragon Age: Origins DLC “The Stone Prisoner”, says she wants to experience the mortal realm through mortal eyes.
Can only mages be possessed?
It is true that mages are more vulnerable to becoming possessed—theorized that due to their innate connection to the Fade, they are a juicier target for demons. However, anyone and anything is capable of being possessed by a spirit/demon. It is only a common misconception among Thedas that mages are uniquely susceptible. Living people who become possessed are referred to as abominations.
Examples of non-mage people and possession:
In Dragon Age: Origins, Uldred will say he plans for any PC, mage or not-mage, to forcefully put a demon inside them, during the quest “The Broken Circle”
In Dragon Age II, Wilmod, a templar recruit, is possessed by a demon that was forcefully put inside him during the quest “Enemies Among Us”
In Dragon Age: Inquisition, the PC becomes briefly possessed by an Envy demon looking to study them during the quest “Champions of the Just”
Most cases above were through the use of blood magic, and all against the actual host’s will.
Animals and plants can become possessed by spirits/demons as well:
Kitty in the Dragon Age: Origins DLC “The Stone Prisoner” is actually a desire demon
Sylvans are the result of spirits/demons possessing trees
Lord Woolsley in Dragon Age: Inquisition’s quest “The Ballad of Lord Woolsley” is actually a rage demon
Even inanimate objects can become hosts to spirits/demons if drawn into them by a mage—this is what spellbinders do, then channel said objects for power.
Does becoming tranquil make you immune to possession?
The Rite of Tranquility severs one’s connection from the Fade, making possession less likely. It does not, however, make one completely immune. This is proven by Pharamond, a tranquil mage in Dragon Age: Asunder, becoming possessed.
Can only living creatures be possessed?
Walking corpses are the result of spirits possessing the body of a deceased person. This is purposely done in Nevarra as part of their culture; the Mortalitasi mages perform a ritual to draw a spirit into the deceased’s body as part of funerary rites. But it can also unintentionally happen, making it a practical choice in most cultures to cremate their dead.
In some cases, a spirit possessing a corpse can maintain some semblance of itself: for example, Justice in Dragon Age: Origins’s expansion “Awakening”. And in other cases, the spirit may take on the identity of the deceased: for example, Audric in the Dragon Age: Tevinter Nights story “Down Among the Dead Men”. But mostly, spirits who possess corpses are just confused, and can become aggressive.
Among walking corpses are uniquely classified “arcane horrors”, which are the result of pride demons (considered the most powerful demon) taking control of mage corpses. They maintain all the spellcasting abilities of a living mage.
Is possession always malicious?
While the most common form of possession is from a demon seeking power in the waking world, it is not always the case. There at least three examples of spirits taking possession of a host for benevolent reasons:
In Dragon Age: Origins, Wynne reveals that she is hosting a spirit of faith that is keeping her alive after a deadly encounter during Uldred’s uprising
In Dragon Age II, Anders reveals that he is hosting a spirit of Justice that he befriended in the “Awakening” expansion of Dragon Age: Origins—a deal the two made to fight for mage freedoms*
In Dragon Age: Asunder, Wynne passes on her spirit of faith into Evangeline, to save Evangeline’s life as it once did hers
*It should be noted though, that Anders believes that because of his rage, the spirit of Justice transformed into a demon of Vengeance in the possession process. Still, the act itself was not one out of ill intent, and Wynne and Evangeline’s cases prove that this is not always the result.
Are abominations always monstrous looking?
Most abominations encountered appear monstrous and disfigured. They are described in one codex entry as “looking as if a demon were wearing a man like a twisted suit of skin”.
Dragon Age: The Calling describes Fiona becoming possessed as the following:
“The elf threw back her head and let out a horrible, keening wail. Her entire body tensed, her hands flying out at her sides. Her skin became a pale white, and then began to change. It bulged, and twisted. Her body grew, and took on a hideous form, her head becoming something gnarled and fanged even as she shrieked in torment. And then the transformation was done. A demonic abomination now stood where Fiona once had, a thing of rent flesh and claws, its gender no longer even apparent. The thing’s eyes glowed with menace.”
Additionally, Dragon Age: Asunder describes possessed Pharamond thus so:
“He looked misshapen, his flesh hideously twisted across his frame. His arms were too long and thin, his fingers ending in talons, his lips pulled back from his teeth in a disturbing grimace.”
This is not always the case, though:
Wynne maintains her human form, possessed by a spirit of faith
Connor maintains his human form, possessed by a desire demon
Anders maintains his human form, possessed by a spirit/demon of justice/vengeance
Wilmod maintains his human form, possessed by a demon
Evangeline maintains her human form, possessed by a spirit of faith
Mihris maintains her elf form, possessed by Imshael, an ancient desire demon (one of The Forbidden Ones)
What determines if this physical transformation takes place or not is unknown.
What happens to a spirit/demon if its host dies?
There is conflicting information about what happens to a spirit/demon after its host is killed. Marethari in Dragon Age II claims that killing her will kill the pride demon she took inside of her. The narrative certainly treats this as true, though it is possible she didn’t know what she was really talking about. Because according to Anders in the same game, killing him would set Justice free back into the Fade. This is the case in the Dragon Age: Tevinter Nights story “Hunger”, where the main characters think they have killed the hunger demon attacking them, but in truth have only banished it. Given the later scenario outnumbers the former, I think it’s safe to assume that the spirit/demon is released from the host after the host dies, until concretely proven otherwise.
Can possession be reversed?
Morrigan explains that the process to reverse possession is not an easy one, but entirely possible. There are known cases of it:
Fiona in Dragon Age: The Calling is possessed by a demon, while the others in the party are sucked into Fade dreams as well. After Maric breaks out of his dream sequence with the help of a friendly spirit, he and the rest of the party defeat the demon, freeing Fiona. (Although it was ultimately Fiona who defeated the demon and freed herself)
Connor in the Dragon Age: Origins quest “The Arl of Redcliffe” is possessed by a desire demon, and the PC may choose to save him by going into the Fade and defeating the demon there, freeing him. This can be done using lots of lyrium and a group of mages, or by one mage (Jowan) using blood magic
Pharamond in Dragon Age: Asunder is possessed by a pride demon. The party performs the same ritual used on Connor and frees him, which also cures him of tranquility
Dragon Age: Asunder clarifies that you need at least three mages to perform the Circle’s known ritual of de-possession.
This is all contrary to what is said by Vivienne and Cassandra in Dragon Age: Inquisition, who you would think know otherwise, though. But hey, so are so many things.

VENUS THROUGH THE HOUSES PT.2
Tumblr media
Venus in the Seventh House - This placement is beneficial and the native experiences luck within romantic partnerships. These types tend to function best within a relationship, but issues regarding co-dependency may arise. Their partners act as mirrors, reflecting back qualities that the native can then learn to love about themselves. People with this placement also experience luck within legal matters. They have a good grasp of justice and treat everyone around them with a sense of fairness. Others admire them for their diplomacy and unbiased viewpoint when helping others. Those with this placement tend to place cooperation about their own needs at times, Venus seventh housers need to remember that it is okay to put yourself first.
Venus in the Eighth House - This is an incredibly magnetic placement. Strangers are drawn to those with Venus in the eighth house for reasons they don’t understand. There is a depth to these individuals and it lures people in. Privacy is highly valued, vulnerability is not to be shared with others unless strong trust is established. When in a relationship, the partner wants to give everything away to the person with Venus in the eighth house. They tend to be provided with financial resources within partnerships. However, a lot of secrecy and hidden motives are also present within partnerships. These natives rely on feelings rather than practically when entering relationships. Sometimes, feelings of possession arise in the native, but they rarely act on this.
Venus in the Ninth House - People with this placement were the first to pack their bags and leave home. They have a desire for adventure and absolutely adore traveling. These individuals crave new experiences, and this lowers anxiety that may be present when entering something they haven't done before. They have a strong inner trust and a high level of optimism that guides them through life. These natives love to learn, and are drawn towards anything that will open their mind. Ultimately, a sense of freedom is what those with Venus in the ninth house are after. If a partner is willing to join them as an equal along the way, so be it, but if not, that also works.
Venus in the Tenth House - Those with Venus in the tenth house understand that reputation is everything. High levels of popularity are destined for those with this placement. Others find these natives to be incredibly charming and are drawn to them because of their high profile and known connections. These types can become friends with just about anyone. Beauty is considered to be an asset amongst these natives, and they will absolutely use it to their benefit. Within partnerships, they are looking for someone who they can be a power couple with. These types have high standards, and they won’t be seen settling.
Venus in the Eleventh House - People with this placement are humanitarians at their core. They hold a deep level of love towards people because of their respect towards humanity and the greater good. These individuals are incredibly socially aware, they have an innate way of making others feel understood. Those with Venus in the eleventh house love connecting with others in meaningful ways. These types tend to oppose traditions in favor of all that is new and trendy. When entering a partnership, there has to be a meeting of minds for it to work out. A person with Venus in the eleventh house won’t stick around if they are not being intellectually stimulated.
Venus in the Twelfth House - People with this placement know what unconditional love truly means and they know what it takes. Those with Venus in the twelfth house are compassionate and hate to see suffering within the world and especially within those closest to them. These individuals have a strong intuition and are very sensitive. They crave time alone and are introverted, it may take them long periods of time to recharge. These individuals end up becoming romantically interested in people who are not available. They would rather live out romance within their head rather than reality. People with Venus in twelfth house repress their emotions and it is hard for them to express them.

How will the Supermoon influence you?
Tumblr media
Is everyone ready for the Supermoon tomorrow? I decided to do a mini PAC reading with all of the changes you may experience! Let's goooo! How to choose a pile: Take a deep breath and close your eyes. Ask the universe if there is a message that you need to hear right now. You may either hear a number or be drawn to a pack once you open your eyes! If the message doesn't resonate then it may not be for you.
Tumblr media
Ace of cups, 9 of pentacles, 9 of cups, wheel of fortune, 4 of wands, Full Moon in Virgo
As soon as I started shuffling the cards, Agust D’s Snooze came to my mind especially the way he says ‘dream’. Our lovely people from pile 1 are big dreamers and their dreams are about to come true with the energy of this supermoon! It seems like this supermoon is going to help you focus more on yourself - falling back in love with yourself and understanding that you are good enough. Deep down you know this, but the past 2 months or so have been up and down and you may have struggled with whether you are worthy of the things that you have achieved/ the things that you want. You may make a few new acquaintances over the coming weeks and the moon’s energy shines on you and you attract important people into your life. Watch out for signs! Especially numbers 9 and 4 - they will guide you. Are you going home soon? Wherever home may be! Enjoy your time there and rest! Allow your family to shower you with love and nurture you. You deserve to be taken care of as well, never doubt this. Be adaptable because luck and the divine is on your side, the door to the future is open and you will be guided step by step.
Tumblr media
Strength, knight of swords in reverse, 9 of cups, 6 of swords, ace of pentacles, Full moon
Oh how strong you are, do you even realise it? You may be feeling a bit jittering because you have been having to watch your back for a while. You have been sooo busy and now that things are starting to come down…you feel like you should be doing something. But you don’t you really don’t! You did it! Even if you can’t see it yet or believe it, things are done, it is done and now you just have to enjoy all of your hard work. You will start to get the acknowledgement that you have been craving from your colleagues, managers or professors. Say ti with me “It’s done, I’m done, there is nothing else I need to do”. Say it until you believe it. You may feel a strong pull towards the ocean, just go! It will help your energies to settle. The full moon is not helping your own restlessness but once it’s over you will feel better. All you need to do is ride the wave and surrender to the divine. It will not let you down.
Tumblr media
The world, the fool, justice, 10 of cups, 10 of pentacles, Full Moon in Scorpio
You’re world is changing and you are feeling a lot more carefree and restless than usual but in a good way - where has this sense of freedom come from? You are going to be focusing on being unapologetically you. You may decide to jump into situations in a very foolish way without thinking about the consequences of said actions but things…will work out for you?! Over the coming 4 weeks, you are likely to either start a new relationship with someone that you have just met not long ago or start a new job that you applied for “just because”. You are working on releasing the negativity that is not helping you. As autumn comes, it is spring in certain countries and this is what your energy feels like! It feels like Spring has arrived in your life. Get ready to feel a lot more steady and grounded and to dance with life! Let’s dance the tango!

Hi!!! This is my first time ever requesting but I had to try it!! What would Mirko, Dabi, Hawks, Toga, Endeavor, and possibly All Might react to having a fem s/o that has a quirk that immediately calms the person they touch so many heroes and villains tend to try to take her for their own needs because they’re obsessed with finally being able to feel some sense of peace alwkjeebw I hope that this is ok if it’s too many characters I totally understand!!! Hope you’re having a great day!!
Hello Anon! Thank you so much for sending in your request and choosing me as the first person you sent a request to! Sorry it took a while to finish! I've been swamped by matchup requests lately (something I'm certainly not complaining about). I hope you like your headcanons!
Tumblr media
I don't see Mirko as someone who seeks the feeling of peace a whole lot. Even though she has her unsatiable desire to fight, she's happy with herself.
Still, she appreciates the sense of peace her s/o's powers bring whenever she's around them.
She doesn't really know if her s/o's powers cause them to feel emotional pain themselves. She's asked a few times but her s/o's assurances that it's fine do little to ease her concerns.
Mirko is definitely one to do little things to make sure her s/o gets moments of peace as well. It can be stressful having heroes and villains constantly seeking you out just to get a taste of peace.
As long as her s/o says it's okay, Mirko won't have a problem with people approaching them asking for a hit of peace. If too many people approach her s/o or her s/o seems uncomfortable thought, it's a different issue.
Her main priority is always going to be the wellbeing of her s/o.
And if a villain kidnaps her s/o? Mirko's on a one woman mission to get them back.
Tumblr media
Definitely craves peace. After everything he's been through, he needs some time to just relax.
Obviously this could go down a yandere path, but I'd rather go with the scenario where Dabi's s/o chose to be with him.
He feels so honoured that them chose him of all people to be with. Yes, the powers are a nice side effect, but Dabi's convinced his s/o's presence alone, powers or not, brings him a sense of comfort unlike any other.
Definitely protective of his s/o. It's not that he doesn't want others to feel peace. He couldn't care less about that! He's just worried that his s/o is going to leave him.
Doesn't matter if it's a hero or another villain that tries to take his s/o away from him, he's fighting for their freedom like his life depends on it.
He loves coming back to his s/o after a long day. Getting to spend time with the person he loves, and getting the benefit of their quirk easing all of his aches, pains, and worries is the best part of his day.
Tumblr media
This guy is somewhere in between Mirko and Dabi.
Some days, he's completely fine. These are the days when he's more worried about his s/o's mental health than anything else.
Other days, his hero work gets too much and he just needs to destress. That's not to say Hawks doesn't still care about his s/o! He really does. He's just so tired.
Protective of his s/o, but no more than other heroes in committed relationships. If his s/o gets kidnapped, by either a villain or a hero goes rogue, he'll obviously get them back.
But he's not rushing in headfirst like Mirko would. He's been working on undercover cases for too long to do that. He'll infiltrate wherever his s/o's being held and break them out with as few casualties as possible.
Hawks doesn't want his s/o to carry any guilt about people getting hurt because of their powers. It also gives him a chance to isolate the person who kidnapped his s/o later and find out exactly why they did it. They'll be brought to justice. But he's doing it his way.
A side effect of his s/o's powers on Hawks is that when he gets relaxed, his feather fluff up. If he's really relaxed, he might make soft cooing noises. Just don't mention it. He gets embarrassed.
Tumblr media
Doesn't necessarily think about the benefits of her s/o's quirk at first, but the first time she gets a hit of peace, she knows she needs more.
Gets addicted quickly to the feeling of peace. Izuku Midoriya? Who's he? The only person she has eyes for is her new s/o!
Another one who could really easily go down the yandere path.
Assuming her s/o chose to be with her though? She's the happies person in the world! Sometimes when she's under the power of her s/o's quirk and her racing mind is slowed, she wonders why her s/o chose her.
Her s/o's quirk dulls the urge to draw blood, maim, and kill, so Toga can't tell whether she completely likes it or not. She's gotten so used to the urges that without them, she almost doesn't feel like herself.
But her s/o is happy that they can do something to help her relax and Toga loves the floating feeling her s/o's quirk gives her so she's happy to keep hanging around them.
Tumblr media
Has this man ever felt peace in his life? Probably not.
So when he first gets a hit of his s/o's quirk? Endeavour probably crumples to the ground. He's not entirely sure why his legs have just stopped working or why his shoulders feel so miraculously relaxed but he does know it's a feeling he could get used to.
I feel like some small part of Endeavour (especially in the more recent part of My Hero Academia) feels like he shouldn't be allowed to relax.
It's more than he deserves after everything he's put his family through.
So he probably wouldn't use his s/o's powers that much. Then again, he can't exactly stop them from using them if and when they chose.
If his s/o got kidnapped, he's assembling a team to take them down. Yes, he's one of the highest ranking heroes in Japan. Yes, he could take out the hero or villain who kidnapped his s/o by himself.
But he lives in the public eye. If everyone found out how much he cares about his s/o, more people would be coming after them.
He doesn't want to put his s/o in any more danger than they need to be.
Tumblr media
Has forgotten what peace feels like honestly. He's been keeping up his persona of All Might for so long that he doesn't remember what it's like to just relax.
So incredibly grateful to his s/o! Anything they want, he's on it. Back rubs? Those muscles can be put to use for something other than fighting villains! A snack from their favourite café? He's pretty fast, he'll be back before his s/o knows it!
He feels it's the least he can do.
Unlike Endeavour, All Might has no worries about rushing in to protect or rescue his s/o. He knows that most of Japan probably knows about his relationship so there's no point in trying to hide how much he cares.
Might sneak into wherever his s/o's hiding in his weak form before breaking them out as "All Might".
He does have to be careful though. His s/o's powers revert him back to his weak form in an instant so they have to be very careful about when and where they use them.

Inuyasha rare pair of your choice:: 29. A kiss ..."as a promise"
Tumblr media
There were many things Kikyou was forced to lock away during her life; so many feelings she had to bury deep within herself in order to fulfill her duty as the Keeper of the Shikon no Tama. There was no room for self-doubt or sorrow just as there was no allowance for real happiness or whimsy.
Purity. It was her prison in life.
But she was no longer alive.
Walking the earth as a phantom, her partial soul confined to a clay body, Kikyou was no longer shackled to the expectations that had once weighed her down. In her death had been release.
Freedom.
All the freedom in the world to do as she pleased, act as she pleased, feel as she pleased.
For the first time in her existence, she could experience the fullness of life as it had been denied to her before. But to live a normal life was as unattainable a wish as holding an ocean. All she could do now was throw herself into the waters, allow herself to bask in it without fear of drowning. (She was already dead, after all.)
She was as much unbound to her duty as she was to the rest of society.
Free to hate.
Free to love.
Even her idea of love used to be confined to what was allowed. What was appropriate. A husband and children and domestic subservience. Those were society’s standards for a woman. A part of her stilled mourned the loss, but a greater part felt a great triumph to escape it. Now, Kikyou no longer cared for their rules or ethics, for their acceptance or respect. How fickle and selfish were their desires and affections.
But she could be fickle and selfish too now. She abandoned propriety. She captured what life she could to sustain herself, threw herself into a revenge-fueled quest for justice, beckoned the half-demon to whom she almost gave her heart and left him without explanation. She didn’t need him as a lover anymore. She didn’t need any man.
And so when it wasn’t a man who piqued her interest, Kikyou no longer buried the feeling, nor did she feel any shame. It wasn’t even difficult for her to wonder why the Wind Sorceress was so captivating to her. After all, she had an affinity for those who craved freedom as she did. A demon. An incarnation of her murderer. Being a woman was laughably inconsequential in comparison.
And because Kikyou was free to do as she wished, she let herself lean into her curiosity without trepidation.
For her part, Kagura had the power to animate the dead, but she had absolutely no control over the resurrected miko. Kikyou was an entirely different existence, and one that Kagura approached with caution. While Kikyou always made quick work of Naraku’s wasps, she allowed the Kagura to survey her without care. Why?
It wasn’t out of fear. If she truly wanted to, the priestess was more than capable enough to overpower the demoness. All it would take was an arrow or two, at least to send her away. But she was able to get near enough, closer and closer until the sorceress practically sat in her shadow.
(It was oddly reminiscent of another time and another love; a whole lifetime ago.)
The conversations came with time. Two even-headed women with winter etched into their veins. It turned out they had more in common than they’d expected. A dislike of crowds, a low tolerance for foolishness, and a vice-like grip on their desire to be free. So it came as no surprise that their mutual attraction was largely fueled by an innate, burning streak of rebellion—a delicious defiance against the half-demon that threatened Kagura’s heart and desired Kikyou’s.
Kikyou could give her affection and time to anyone she chose, and she chose what he saw as his servant. Not him. Never him.
Their companionship was a secret. Hidden behind barriers and nightfall, Kikyou let herself give in to her own desires. Light grazes eventually had them wrapped up together, and it was under a moonless night that Kikyou stole the first kiss.
It felt as scandalous as it did liberating—another part of herself that she’d stamped out awoke; rose from amongst the ashes she was formed by. And Kikyou laughed in the wake of its discovery. Oh, how she’d been so blind. All those days staring at the beautiful girls who got to dress up, and she had desperately believed that she wanted to be them. And certainly that was part of it, but it hadn’t been the full story, had it? So she kissed the Wind Sorceress again, and again, and when she felt Kagura relent and respond, it was a triumph. The fire of rebellion gave way to a different sort of heat—the spark of elation, the warmth of fondness—and they both ended up smiling.
But their circumstances weren’t lost on either woman.
“What does this mean for us?” Kagura asked, a hand on Kikyou’s hip.
“Does it have to mean anything in particular?”
The demoness smirked. “No.” Did she want it to? It was difficult to say. “But I will have to leave in the morning.”
“What will you tell him?”
“That I need to keep an eye on you more,” she replied deviously. “That I have no idea what you’re thinking or planning.”
Another kiss. They were smart women, knowing how to manipulate and keep their secrets close.
“So you’ll be back.” Kikyou said. A request more than a statement or question.
“If he permits it,” she grated. It was the best she could do. Kagura was a caged bird, as Kikyou had once been. Even off to roam, she must return back to her keeper.
Gently, Kikyou traced Kagura’s cheek, studying the firestorm of resentment and defiance in her red eyes, so different from her own and yet like a mirror of their hearts. The priestess found herself drawn in by the color, eventually coming to hover over rouged lips. “I’ll destroy him,” she promised with quiet certainty.
The romanticism of it pulled the sorceress in. In a hot breath she murmured, “I’ll let you,” before closing the gap between them.

Interview With a Writer
Tumblr media
Thank you so much @aemondtarqaryens for starting off Volume 2 of my Interview With a Writer series! This is my ongoing series of the talented souls on Tumblr and ao3, and their brilliant writing!
If there is a story you are interest in, I am open to requests! Just make sure to check out my criteria for stories considered for this.
Tumblr media
Name: aemondtarqaryens
Story: Precious Delights
Paring: Maegor Targaryen x niece!Reader
WARNINGS: See each chapter for individual, more precise warnings. Written with/for a female reader, but other than purple eyes, there‘s no mention of her appearance.
What inspired the plot for Precious Delights?
Oh God, truth be told? It started with a request I received for Maegor x Reader smut where she's heavily pregnant with his child. And I'm just a sucker for my big tiddy daddy and gave it a shot.
Once the original Precious Delights was posted, people commented under it, asking for a part 2 where the baby is born. The whole series just developed from there on and the rest is history.
I just loved their dynamic in the first part I posted (it's based on the bath scene between Aemma and Viserys, because it was just fitting and I liked that scene in the series) and felt captivated to give the few people interested what they wanted.
Explain your interpretation of Maegor? What drives him? Why is he the way he is in the story?
Charlie Hunnam is my faceclaim for Maegor because someone (I'm not dropping names cough cough @fairysluna cough) planted that seed into my mind. Most people fancast him as Aegon I, but to me, Henry Cavil makes a better Aegon I (you know, let's just cast Henry as every ASOIAF character lmfao).
I always had the relationship of Daemon and the young Rhaenyra we see in the show in my mind while writing this story. And we learn in Innate Desires that Maegor has lusted after his niece for quite some time, and even asked Aenys to give him her hand in marriage. He was denied, and searched his luck (or power) elsewhere, but failed with his wives dying without giving him an heir.
This is something that drives him, too. The need to provide an heir with his blood, that will take the Throne after him.
Canon!Maegor is one kind of a man, and while I find him intriguing, I firstly know that I could never do him justice and secondly, it just wouldn't have fit the story and it's overall development. Plus, having had a soft spot for his niece for so long, it's clear he's not always the brute he is towards her. He's softer, and allows her to catch some rare glimpses of his vulnerability as their relationship develops.

Was there anything in specific that inspired your Reader portrayal?
No, I feel like it‘s very self indulgent. Usually, the reader portrayals are matching their respective role (or I try to make it that way, at least) and with Targcest, I feel like you do have a bit more freedom to indulge. Just a freedom to be cheeky, or disobey certain rules.
Do you feel they eventually come to complement one another?
They complement each other. Maegor gives her something she‘s craved for so long, stability, family, attention, and Reader takes piece after piece of the brute out of him. Just like their children. They‘re not changing him completely, but they have a positive impact on him. She basically made the rogue brute soft and tender. 🤭
Will you add into their story?
Depends, if I really get another idea for this series maybe, but most likely not. It has found a good end, and everything else would be just dragging it out.
Do you want to share about another upcoming WIP? I know you finished celebrating a milestone for your blog (congratulations 💖).
Thank you!! I‘m currently working on the last two requests for my celebration, a one shot with Aemond and servant!Reader for a writing challenge I participated in, and a one shot of an American Horror Story x HOTD crossover where Aemond is the Antichrist.
Any chance we can have a snippet for Aemond!Antichrist? 👀
Easing your trembling legs, you hold onto the desk for support. It feels like an eternity when you crouch forward slightly to steady your uneven breathing, the moment only breaking as Aemond advances towards you, his body leaning against yours and pressing you up against the desk. It’s the only thing keeping you upright, and the moment you feel his hot breath caress your neck, your legs feel like they are about to give in. His thigh slips between yours, but you can’t feel his hands on your body, assuming he’s clasped them behind his back or keeps them at his sides. But you can tell that his chest isn’t the only firm thing that presses against your body. His cock is rock hard, clearly finding as much pleasure in the situation than you do, and all but strains against your lower back. He is so close, that’s all you’ve thought of for the past days, yet it’s not enough. You need his hands, him, to feel thoroughly satisfied. The urge to whine scratches in your throat, but you manage to swallow it at the last moment. “Beg for me to touch you,” he drawls, voice laced with a mixture of excitement and hunger. Exhaling a strained breath, you close your eyes. “P-Please,” you whimper, barely loud enough for him to hear. “Please… touch me. It’s been so long.” “Hm.” You hear it loud and clear, the amusement, the satisfaction, causing your skin to heat up. “That’s all you’ve got?”

thoughts on tachihara
The bbg of all time ‼️
In all seriousness though, if we're talking about my in depth thoughts of him, then here we go:
My thoughts on his background:
His life was hell from day one.
He was five when Shūnzen left for war. Five. His family was comparing a five year old to a whole grown ass man.
Just imagine how incapable they are of raising children. No wonder Michizō turned to a life of crime. The only thing they properly taught him was who Shūnzen was, and how much better he was than Michizō. The only reason he probably remembers how Shūnzen looks to this day is because of the sheer amount of pictures his family has on the wall. If I were in his position, I'd become sick to my stomach everytime I see a hint of any resemblance. Anything to remind me of his face that haunts me. The silhouette of his will always loom over me, to remind me of how much of a failure I am.
The fact that Tachihara probably didn't have his ability manifested back then must've made their judgements on him worse; they believed Shūnzen was a golden child, what is an 'ability-less' snot faced five year old against him? I don't think he ever got the chance to tell his parents about his ability, they don't seem like they'd give him the time of day to listen. Even if he did get the chance to tell them, you actually believe they'd praise him for it? They'd go straight to comparing how dull his ability is compared to Shūnzen, or some baseless comparison like that.
He somehow found out about what happened, and how Yōsano was seemingly 'responsible' for his brother's untimely death. She was the 'reason' he's suffering like this. He was probably either too young to understand the concept of suicide, or no one told him the truth, and with the fact that Yōsano blew up the ship, it's solid enough proof for anybody.
He lived in that deprecating excuse of a home for years, and years; forced to become a second version of his brother. He'd dye his hair out of spite, and would go in the exact opposite direction, because he wants to be his own person. He always planned to run away at one point, but then he overheard his parents planning to send him to a boarding school or something— Nope. Fuck this, he's done. He's leaving. He packed a few belongings, stole a wad of cash from his dad's wallet, and ran out the door to meet up with some gangster friends he might have. He lived in constant instability, probably exploited by his gangmates for highstake heists, and giving him this false sense of freedom he craved. That is, until the hunting dogs showed up.
This is where it gets the most fucked imo.
His time with the hunting dogs:
The hunting dogs were no rescue. They weren't there to give him a home. They were there to stop a small time gang from robbing a bank, eliminate them, and then leave. It's a cake walk for them. They just happened to come across an ability user with too much wasted potential. What makes it sadder is that he was aware of it. He was fourteen, and to him, this was his golden chance to proof that he could be so much better than anything his parents imagined, all while being his own person. Them considering him nothing more than a comrade was something he was fine with. They probably told him of the surgeries beforehand, through a little deliberation, and no other options, he agreed to be a lab rat. It's saddening how much he went through for him to just end up being a military soldier like his brother.
He probably developed his reason to live because of some offhand comment made by either Fukuchi or Teruko. I'm unsure of when Jōnō, and Tecchō joined, but I could just imagine Tecchō feeling like his sense of justice is being tested when he allowed a young boy barely in his teens to join their ranks. Tecchō isn't much older than 20, but at least he was old enough to think for himself, Michizō's self preservation is quite questionable on the other hand. Jōnō would–in his own way–reassured(?) Tecchō's guilty conscience, and convinced Tecchō that Michizō had complete control over his decision, and that they didn't force him into anything; they merely gave him options. Tecchō isn't convinced, but he let go of the topic for a while.
Teruko might not be outright about it, but she's come to care for the hunting dogs, having a soft-ish spot for their youngest. She obviously adores Fukuchi, but that doesn't make her care less for Michizō. At first, I think she was indifferent, maybe even mocking, and when they trained together, she never held back; she had to wip this twig into shape. Her overall feelings for him were purely work related for a good while, but she eventually started to care for him. Hc: Whenever they had their monthly surgeries, she'd volunteer to share a room with him, (he doesn't know she's doing this, he just thinks they don't have enough rooms) and would keep him distracted from the post surgery fatigue, and pain by ranting about everything, and anything that comes to mind. After having him train under her for a year or three; she fully recognized his talents, and officially views him as capable enough to be a hunting dogs; she'll never tell him that though. (Their sibling relationship is my biggest comfort tbh.)
I don't think he had any particular hard feelings against the commander, but he could be unsettling under that goofy demeanor; Michizō always watched his step around this man. He'd never imagine himself, never in a million, years going against him, not in the same way he would years later.
Michizō was seventeen, with three years of experience as a soldier under his belt, having already been trained, and turned into an ideal superhuman soldier through medical malpractice, when it was finally time for him to be assigned on his biggest mission yet: infiltrate the Port Mafia ranks.
The Port Mafia mission
My heart self destructs at this one. The thought of him going in with a hardened-by-years-of-training heart, and leaving every month or two feeling softer, and his resolve weakening.
He's building meaningful relationships with so many people; the same people that happen to go against everything he stands for as a hunting dog. Hell, he started calling one of them big sis subconsciously. He has a complicated sort of rivalry with the Mafia's top assassin, but he couldn't say he genuinely hates him. (HE THINKS GIN IS A BOY TO THIS DAY IT'S TOO FUNNY NOT TO INCLUDE) The strongest Mafia executive smiles at him, and treats him with undue respect, which genuinely terrified Michizō at times; just imagining that smile turned into a betrayed scowl haunts him at night.
His periodical surgeries served as a wake up call, he never thought he'd feel so grateful for them before. He leaves remembering he has a mission to complete, ignoring the gnawing guilt in the back of his mind.
That's what kept him together for the two years he's been undercover.
Hirotsu knows there's something behind Michizō, but he has full faith in one thing, and that is when the time comes, Michizō would side with the Mafia, because that's where he truly belongs. He never expresses it, but his worry for the consequences that would face Michizō once he's exposed grows by the day.
More on Michizō:
We've seen Michizō's Mafia 'sona he puts up for the mission, and despite everything, it feels so genuine. He's that good of an actor. However, sometimes, I feel like that facade slips from time to time, and he's either genuinely happy, sad, worried, and angry. It scares him how he's starting to become genuine, and how true his Mafia 'sona is becoming. He's kind after everything, and he'll always care. He might be a 'traitor', but he'll do his darnest for people he cares for. The look on his face when Hirotsu, and Gin were in the hospital just reflected how guilty he was for hurting them. It was what sparked his confliction.
He may be a hunting dog in name, but he's a Mafioso in truth, and will forever have a place in his heart, and memories for both.
He's my blorbo, and I love him. 💕🌹

I think what gets lost amid the Viren-Callum and Callum-Claudia parallels is while sometimes you have characters foil each other primarily because of narrative placement (Rayla and Soren in some ways, switching roles as sworn killer to protector and then back again), you can also have characters that parallel each other primarily personality wise (Ezran and Claudia for example), and characters that parallel each other morality wise (Rayla and Harrow) and then you can also have characters that parallel each other in all of the above. Narrative placement, roles, personality, morality, flaws, etc. All of it.
And that is what I’m talking about when I talk about how Callum’s morality differs from his friends. Ezran does not have the capacity to be a dark mage. At most, he could be like Terry, and even then, that’s a stretch. He does not crave power. Opportunity and justice, which are adjacent to power, but not power itself. It is out of character for Ezran to revel the destruction and upper hand that power gives him. It is not for Callum.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rayla, although she has personality similarities with Viren (paranoia, gruffness, repression, etc) and narrative similarities with Claudia (daughter given dark task by father, wandering Xadia for two years on account of Viren, etc) does not have the capacity to be a dark mage. It’s not in her; she doesn’t have the incentive or personality for it (or for magic generally). She craves protection, which is of course adjacent to power, but not power itself. It was out of character for Rayla to walk away from the dragon in 4x05, indicating a massive character change for her from 2x07; Callum’s choice in each situation would remain the same.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In 4x06, upon finding Soren’s armour, everyone else is focused on Soren. Rayla is beating herself up for letting something happen to him. N’than is being brutally honest. Ezran is trying to mitigate harm and look on the bright side for their friend. Callum does not take his eyes off of, and is entirely focused on, Rayla. Yes, he’s optimistic about what may have happened to Soren, but that’s specifically presented in him reassuring Rayla (and then again in 4x07 as well).
Tumblr media
Callum craves power (and freedom). He craves magic. He has a strong heart and a strong mind just like his friends, but he’s also a mage in ways that even Claudia is not. Claudia can look at ancient ruins and never wonder how to use them. She’s brutal out of perceived necessity. Callum is brutal even when he doesn’t need to be. Callum learns about moon magic and, like every magical object he’s encountered, he wants to learn how to use it. Just knowing is not enough.
Viren and Callum are both people willing to do “anything” to protect their family, even if Viren’s more complicated because he’s also more willing to sacrifice them, and Callum is not (with perhaps the sole exception of letting Ez be under the ice for a dangerously long time). This is especially highlighted in S4, textually. Ezran and Rayla are both willing to sacrifice precious items connected to their fathers. Callum (at least for now) is not.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Callum is genuinely tempted down the path of being a dark mage when he thinks he has no other magical options. He rejects it still holding onto hope, perhaps, that he can be a primal mage. And like I’ve already said, Rayla and Ezran would not have been tempted into it at all. Claudia isn’t either because she doesn’t see anything wrong with dark magic in the first place. But Callum does. In this way, Callum’s pursuit of magic has the most in common with Viren’s, where he knows it’s dangerous, and knows it may not always end well (“I have nothing left to lose”) and yet he chooses it and Aaravos anyway. Callum also has a self-preservation streak that Viren, Rayla, and Ezran do not (at least marginally). He rarely throws himself into anything in which he has zero hope for survival; even when he takes Ez’s spot in 1x02, he still argues with Rayla on behalf on his own life; he easily is talked down by one word from Rayla when it comes to letting Sol Regem burn him to a crisp in 3x01. (Compare and contrast with how Rayla argues with him for her own death in 3x08, or how Viren places his life in Aaravos’ hands in Lux Aurea.)
And yet in spite of how much the show emphasizes just how much he loves magic, and loves using magic (“figure out how he could use the cube” and what he could “achieve” with it, S2 novelization), it also shows us time and time again that the people he loves - namely Rayla and Ezran - are even more important to him than magic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Cue Callum dropping his staff - “It means a lot” - to pick up Rayla’s sword only to then throw that away, too, when he sees her hand to run right at her]
Tumblr media
And even over his freedom and well-being:
C: I was his puppet. I felt so weak and out of control. I’m not afraid that he’ll hurt me. I’m afraid that he’ll use me to do awful things. Or hurt people I care about. That’s why all I’m asking is that if he takes control of me again, you have to kill me. I need you to promise.
Among the trio, Callum is the one with a more skewed morality and greater capacity for remorseless violence. He’s the one with a raging and then ice cold temper. He’s the one who has the most in common personality and morality wise with Viren and Claudia and even Terry. Not entirely the same, of course - there’s a reason he’s not on their side - but the most similar, I think.
Tumblr media
And I think that’s why 1) Callum is such a fascinating character, especially for a protagonist and 2) disappointing sometimes, when people take away his claws and teeth. Because he absolutely has them, and I hope we can only continue to see them play out even further as we go along.
