don't worry, all the abuse Odin put his kids through goes away because he had a throwaway line in thor 3 that he loved them and it magically fixed everything :)

ultimately something i think i'll just never get over re: the loki series is the fact that the time travel theme afforded so many opportunities to delve into the most core facets of loki's history and character (aka the things that formed the basis of literally every loki plotline and all his ~villainous deeds~) and allow him to finally reckon with that history - loki's jotun heritage, odin's manipulation/emotional abuse of both loki and thor, loki's suicide attempt, everything with thanos - and the creators were just. fundamentally and inexplicably not interested in any of that

I've just seen this and... Wow, I'm so much annoyed 😅 I mean, it's all so wrong... "Worthy" was a spell created by Odin to keep Thor in line and control his powers, but I'm afraid the writers here forgot this little detali 🤦🏻 I wonder when they will let Loki go. I am anxious whenever some new official material about him comes out 🥲
Oh my, that has all kinds of terrible connotations that could go very wrong, especially as we know Marvel's stance on Odin and that goddamn "worthiness".
Thor began to grow wonderfully as a character when he started seeing the cracks in Odin's exterior and realized how wrong and flawed his father was. When he started seeing beyond Asgard's lies and bigotry. The entire point of his character was supposed to be a boy indoctrinated from childhood finally breaking free from his father's lies and control, which necessarily translates into that "worthiness" meaning nothing.
We got Hela's story in Ragnarok! She was told she was worthy too. It was all a lie, even Valkyrie says as much. So a book where Loki is worthy and it is supposed to be a good and positive thing is missing the point entirely. It's still taking Odin's judgment as gospel.
With that said... damn, a story such as that written by a Loki fan could be pretty amazing. Imagine a story where Loki was treated the same as Thor and had everything he could possibly want, he was respected by his people, etc... but it still went wrong because all that love and "worthiness" were corrupted from the beginning. A story where 'who' and 'what' Loki is turns out to be the only good thing... but Asgard's bigotry and Odin's lies and crimes end up biting them in the ass in the end - and Loki's worth comes from within instead.
That I would read. But something tells me Marvel will take a different route. Oh well. (Also... Loki and Valkyrie, eh? They gonna pair them up? 😜).
Gotta say the other two books sound interesting though. Poor Marc having to put up with Venom, but he has experience with Khonshu being a lovable jerk so he'd survive it, I'm sure. But Wanda and Peter as siblings? Hell yeah gimme!

Immortal Thor #6 Reactions
Has it seriously only been a month since the last issue? I feel like I've been waiting ages for this.
Spoilers for The Immortal Thor issue 6.
There's Sigfusson again, taking credit for Eddas he didn't write.
Teller's back! My love!
...When is this?
"...which draws both teller and audience in." literally read that while leaning forward because the overhead light was making it hard to see the words lol.
Loki wut.
Oh this is current to the arc right now okay
Loki why are you so dramatic as the skald
Y'ALL. Y'all I shrieked and hid my face in a pillow
the poet gears are turning already
Oh my god why are these fuckers so cute?!
Thor oh my goddd! I'm not crying, you're crying
"I'm offski" Yeah I'm sure the OG Loki said that. That wasn't the millennial reborn teller paraphrasing, certainly not
They're so whiny, I love it!
I love when these two bicker. Siblings!
Amora, GO AWAY! No one likes you!

if there is anything that can be made into a competition, thor will do exactly that.
is this healthy? no <3 but he doesn't quite realize that, or that he's doing it at all, unless it's called out. because remember, the way odin raised him specifically was never So Glaringly Bad that he could see it for what it was. so, in turn, didn't notice how he pitted the siblings against each other on purpose and encouraged a competitive spirit (something something he also didnt realize being the golden boy of asgard while loki was always other'd was The never ending competition that fractured them— its hard to see it as competition when the opponent was doomed to lose from the start and you love that everyone loves you). anyway, its so ingrained into everything you may not even notice until it starts to stack up. being actually gleeful that laufey challenged him and gave him an excuse to show off, "you're big; i've fought bigger," silly as it is "you people are so petty, and tiny" because why . why do you feel the need to remind everyone you're the bigger better guy here. talking to bruce and val about loki's violent tendencies and how he's been subjected to it more than anyone. it's subtle, and he's just trying to relate to them, but he is also inherently saying but i've gotten the worst of it way more than everyone else ever ☝🏻 can't even confidently say he wouldn't make trauma a competition, during the blip aka his most mentally unhealthy time.

What I enjoy about this scene is that the Warriors 3 4 think Loki is up to no good, and he is, but he's not up to the specific no good they at first assumed. You and I in the audience know Odin really did just fall asleep to avoid resolving the plot to soon but they don't, and then Loki gives them the most insincere-sounding explanation possible (it has to be deliberate, he's far better at lying in other scenes) and then Sif is clearly planning something after that (and she can lie more convincingly too!) and basically I find this whole thing hilarious. These people don't even like each other enough to pretend that they're not planning to fuck things up somehow.

Another thought about Asgard's vibes-based distrust of Loki I had, is that he's the only king they want to actually dispose of, and even go straight to beheading. They don't seem to care about the bad foreign policies of other kings, and are quick to accept them back despite there being no guarantee/safeguard of change.
In Thor (2011), they just want Thor back right away despite him nearly starting a war based on an insult. In Thor: The Dark World, Odin's policies are controversial to the point were all MC's commit treason, yet Odin is still respected, to the point of Loki using his likeness and being allowed to mind his business for years through that ( I'll roll my eyes at anyone that claims decreased military presence in OTHER realms was bad; Thor is wrong in the start of TR and of course Feige would agree with Thor on interviews cus Disney's evil).
You'd think that in the end of T:TDW they'd beg Thor to take over or something, or maybe switch to a democracy, you know, something that isn't a monarchy. But nah. They are just like "Odin can be king because he's the king." And that reminds me of a lot of "vote Blue, no matter who" people that don't care about actual policies.
Btw, don't take this as "Loki never did anything wrong or horrible". Take it as "Loki is not unusually bad as a king, but gets framed as being unusually bad because vibes."
