Still can’t wrap my head around how Izzy shooting Ed was supposed to symbolize him “breaking up with Blackbeard” and have them go through that whole thing at the beginning of the season, to have Izzy be the one who tells Ed to follow what makes him happy, and have Izzy’s whole arc be about who he is without Blackbeard just for the finale to turn around and say that Izzy had to die because he was half of Blackbeard and that Ed couldn’t fully let go of Blackbeard otherwise.

I'm not gonna screenshot it bc 1/it really doesn't matter that much and 2/the person who made the comment is a kid but: a while ago I made a comic that's supposed to be a genuine study and reinterpretation of someone else's sprite comic (made in the spirit of authenticity too - to recreate the vibes of the sprite comics from that era, iirc very specifically because it's funny) and I got a comment on that comic's post that's like "glow up"

which is a compliment obvs. and the commenter probably didn't mean anything by it, it's a common expression. but I've been trying to find a way to gracefully put that comment away ever since it appeared lol

I just very much don't want my art to be taken as trying to one-up someone else's art when that's not the piece's intention. especially when the piece that inspired my art is perceived as "low effort" or "shitpost" or stuff like that. I did mention in the tags of that post that my considering it a study is entirely genuine, and I can legitimately write pages about the cool stuff I find in it other than and inherent in the haha funneys, but that's not for you guys that's for me. I just think that approaching art competition-first like that is a miserable way to do it, and (tipping into overthinking here if the whole tiny-comment-got-stuck-in-my-brain-for-almost-a-month part hasn't given that away yet lol) I really don't want that to be the takeaway from my own art. at least generally. if I actually think the source material is trash and what I'm doing is genuinely categorically better I'd just come out and say it lmao

thinking about anthea and concordia and how they knew n's time growing up in the castle was awful but they probably couldn't do much about it because they were also under ghetsis's "care"

#pokemon #pokemon black and white #pokemon bw #n harmonia #natural harmonia gropius #pokemon anthea #pokemon concordia #clai's art #i dont know what anthea and concordia are like outside of the games where they appear uh. literally once per version. which sucks #so my take is that they. being older than n and also raised by people before being orphaned. did not have the same extreme views #they didnt doubt that humans hurt pokemon at first bc they saw the same injured pokemon that ghetsis brought to n #but they knew not all humans were like that. so they would try to tell n that but he trusted ghetsis above all else #as they got older they realized more and more what ghetsis's true intentions with n were but by then it was too late #n was too deep in the worldview ghetsis forced on him and ghetsis viewed him as disposable #one step out of line from anthea or concordia to protect n or steer him away from the path ghetsis put him on-- #--would probably mean dire consequences for any of them. so all they could do was watch #i hope that all makes sense idk. i dont often write detailled backstories for characters i cant do it well all that much #anyway anthea and concordia DESERVE more of a role in the story than just last minute lore dump #they have POTENTIAL
