Mark my words, when the FNAF movie comes out, Matthew Lillard’s Afton will steal every scene he’s in, and join the Holy Trinity of video game movie villains alongside Jack Black’s Bowser and Jim Carrey’s Robotnik.

I waited 9 years of my life to see:
-Child actors somehow outperforming the adults
-A MatPat cameo
-A cop threatening to point blank shoot an innocent civilian that's still recovering from his childhood truama
-A SHIT TON of Easter eggs
-Horror icons that gave made me stay up all night be used for a cutsey montage where they build a fucking fort with our protagonists (okay it was kinda cute)
-Characters that had nothing to do with the games
-Fucked up lore
-A script that feels like it's a crappy Netflix movie
-And the Living Tombstone song being played at the end credits
And I loved every second of it. Bring on the terrible sequels

The Best Movie Versions of Jedi: Fallen Order
As someone who has made too many videos about these games, figured I'd share my favorite "movie" editions of Fallen Order. It's the best way to meet the Mantis crew and experience Cal's journey if you don't have a gaming PC/console or want to relive the adventure in a condensed format. Also a great resource for making edits!
STAR WARS Jedi: Fallen Order - Movie Edition by MovieEditionGames
[2K, no HUD, YT CC captions available] My favorite viewing option for FO. It includes relevant gameplay mixed in with cutscenes, along with custom camera shots that showcase the environments during traversal. Clean music transitions and intentional character movement elevate it even further.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (The Movie) by Andy Gilleand
[4K HDR, letterboxed, no HUD, YT CC captions available] A very close second for FO viewing. The high-res, detailed textures really showcase how beautiful this game is. Along with relevant gameplay blended with cutscenes, this version also includes chapter markers to find different sections more easily.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order - Game Movie by Video Game Player
[4K 60FPS, letterboxed, no HUD, no captions] Another 4K option with chapter markers (this time with on screen titles!) but doesn't use HDR.
STAR WARS: JEDI FALLEN ORDER All Cutscenes (Cal Mod) by Gamer's Little Playground
[4K 60FPS, includes HUD and in-game captions] Cal takes a nap and wakes up with a beard! If you want to revisit the story with a new look, here's a good option.
Hope this helps! As of now I have not found a comparable version for Jedi Survivor. There are cutscene-only options and full 13-17 hour gameplay options, but nothing in between. If you have seen one let me know! Otherwise I may try to make it myself, eventually.

I think doing movie video game movies can be beneficial in the long run, because there's a bunch of video games that are already trying to be like movies. I know it's not a movie, but it's got the quality of one, look at "The Last of Us" TV Series. That's like, one of the best series ever made, and it's based on a video game that is really cinematic.
Imagine if, oh my Gosh, someone went and made a movie based on one of David Cage's games. Can you imagine "Omicron: The Nomad Soul: The Movie"!? It'll make that one part of "Indigo Prophecy" canon!
That would be wild.
I for once look forward to distancing ourselves from super heroes and going into video games. It's not exactly Uncharted territory...even though that movie kinda sucked, but there's still a world of possibilities out there.

Looking back at the first live-action “Resident Evil” and “Silent Hill” movies, it’s actually intriguing how similar they are in that they’re not that bad of a representation of their source material. They’re not good, but they understand what their respective series is like.
The first RE movie features a completely original cast and story. But even so, they understood what the game was like in both story and tone. It’s a military horror/thriller in which a team of armed personnel are sent into this quarantined zone and are attacked by zombies. The tone was right (scary, but a bit campy at times) and the movie didn’t really do anything that would break off from the games. Most importantly for me, THEY DIDN’T DO A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE SCENARIO.
The first SH movie was essentially a loose retelling of the first game. There’s definitely a lot to pick apart when it comes to this movie. Pyramid Head is incorrectly used, the Alessa/Heather/Cheryl plot could’ve been handled better, and the movie feels removed from its J-horror roots. But, as a whole, it understands “Silent Hill”. It got the look of the game right, it got the tone (well, sort of, since the J-horror feel was gone), and it felt like a genuine attempt to bring the 1st game to life.
And then…the sequels to both movies fucked everything up. Funnily enough, they fucked up in similar ways. The RE movies screwed up the storyline and went against the whole point of the series (the games are about PREVENTING the zombie apocalypse). The SH sequel tried too hard to be SH3 while also being more lazy and cliche. It’s like both franchises said, “First movie was fine. Now let’s just do what every other horror movie is doing”.
Really, these movies should’ve just been standalone.

Just recently rewatched the 2018 Uncharted fan film with Nathan Fillion and Stephen Lang - and while it sucks that it was never made into a full-length movie, I still consider it a blessed thing that we fans got a solid, 15 minute long, QUALITY film that captures the spirit of the games. It's better than nothing.
