i wanted to send people asks about their wips and ocs more often. not only to promote them but also because everyone makes really cool stories. the sheer amount of detail and work that people put into their projects is amazing but often gets untold. and i wanted to start learning about them and trying to promote it to the best of my ability.

i sent out a bunch of asks yesterday and i want to do more. i dont want to intrude or be weird though so i wanted to get a list of people who would like asks.

Your daily reminder that your art is still valid even without a bunch of likes/reblogs/etc!!!

I know it can be disheartening when you put yourself out there only to feel like it what you make ends up being invisible but PLEASE REMEMBER that none of that means your art isn’t a valid, wonderful thing that deserves to be shared with the world.

Your creativity was never meant to contend with trends or algorithms. It was only ever meant to be and I promise you there are people out there who’ll adore the way that beautiful brain of yours crafts whatever you use to express yourself.

Writeblr Introduction

Hi!  I’m Jen, she/her, in my mid-thirties, and I live in the Midwest (US).  I work in healthcare to pay the bills, but in my free time (when I’m not chasing my kids around) I enjoy reading and writing.

I write contemporary fiction and dabble in poetry, but I enjoy reading all genres including literary, sci-fi, fantasy, thrillers, romance, etc.

I completed the first draft of my novel 4 years ago and since then I’ve been slogging through the editing process/not doing much with it (probably because I also had two kids during that time), but now I’m trying to get back at it.

I’m new to the writeblr community, and I’m hoping to find some friends/mutuals for support and commiseration (writing is hard).  I'm also up to answering any questions/fact checking for fellow writers with anything to do with injuries/illnesses/medical field/medical training. Feel free to DM me!

How do you deal with writing loneliness?

How do you keep yourself going on when you feel that all your hard work is useless? It's like screaming to the void. You still feel the passion, you steel feel the story, your will to share, but nobody seems to care. How do you make yourself feel better in a situation like this? How do you convince yourself it's worth it?

You know what my favorite part of writing and creating stories/characters is?

Yes I enjoy it for myself it excites me to sit down and write/draw for hours. But it also excites me when friends or moots also can’t wait to see what I’ve come up with.

When we have fun conversations about our own characters and make up little scenarios. When my friends give suggestions and help plan out things for my books.

When we draw fanart of each other’s characters.

That is what excites me the most.

Literally had someone from my school ask about my book and encouraged me to continue writing it. It made my heart melt.

I love all the friends who have enjoyed my writing through the years. ❤️❤️❤️
