To quote "Strangenewclassrooms" above;
I don’t believe in these things
But last time I reblogged one ten/fifteen minutes later I got a call offering me a job
But I reblogged it because I was waiting on hearing back from the job. So there you go.
Roger is cute.

Truly the all time funniest writer thing is when you're doing edits and you think to yourself "omg I've got the PERFeCT sentence to add right here!" and then you stick it in all excited, only to find that literally three lines down you have virtually that exact same sentence in the draft already.

Fuck your word count!
༺𖤐๋࣭ ⭑🕸🦇🕸๋࣭ ⭑๋࣭ 𖤐༻
"Focus on your word count," "Write 2,500 words a day," "Real writers set monthly word goals."
SHUT UP! Your word count doesn't matter. You're just stressing yourself out.
It doesn't matter if you write one word today or 10,000! At least you wrote something! Focus on that.
Quality and sanity of quantity.

*Absolutely* agree.
Wordcounts, and tracking them, HELPS to keep me motivated, but; BUT; If they stress you, upset you, or in any way hinder you making PROGRESS on your project, throw word counts out the window!
I'm serious. The number of people I've spoken to who find Nanowrimo genuinely upsetting because they wrote 20k, 30k, or 40k, but missed out on that coveted 50k breaks my heart.
20, 30 or 40k is fucking BRILLIANT.
But I've seen it really get to writers SO MANY times, that I have a legitimate SPIEL about how;
All words are good words.
Any number of words is progress.
It doesn't matter if the words you wrote get cut, because you learnt something while writing them.
One word, one sentence, one paragraph, is still progress on your project.
Spending the day being inspired, or daydreaming scenes, is still progress because you're learning about your world and your characters.
Be fucking kind to yourselves! Creating is complex! It's difficult! It's not EASY.
So, yes. Sanity first. Because sanity produces quality. If wordcounts are fucking with your sanity, drop them from your process.
Fuck your word count!

hello writeblr! I'm relatively new to the community (mainly lurking in the shadows but ready to contribute!). my name is Karina and I love writing YA romance, but I occasionally write a smutty scene, though they typically live in my notes app lol
here's some things about me:
- I've written many fanfics (most of which you can find on Wattpad under insane-but-ur-bby)
- my current WIP is Your Average Fangirl, an original story following an anxious fmc that goes on tour with her favorite music artist (coming soon to AO3)
- I enjoy binge watching shows like 9-1-1, not dead yet, MasterChef, and is it cake?
- my favorite season is autumn
- lately have been obsessed with acotar
- currently reading: throne of glass series
I'm excited to be a part of the community and to make more mutuals! feel free to tag me in any tag games and ask me anything :)

If it's in reference to it's movement, like someone swallowing hard, I'd say something like "His throat bobbed".
If it's needed because another character is observing it for whatever reason, I'd probably lean on more descriptive language, or include it in the pantheon/religion that IS present in my worldbuilding. If I was going that route though, I would have to establish early in the book that it was called that, so probably under different circumstances, so I could use the term later and have the reader understand it.
example; "He was a scrawney man and the spirit-knot in his throat stood out prominently, bobbing as he swallowed nervously under my calculating scrutiny."
fellow fantasy writers: how do you refer to someone’s adam’s apple in a world without christianity?

Whether you write fanfic or original works or paint/draw, be it fan art or original work or whatever else - I have to know, because I have a feeling this is going to be very decisive:

Awful though Twitter is, I've gone more or less all-in on Tumblr and could use more backup platforms (just to cover my ass.) If any of you are on Twitter, it would help me out if you followed me over there.
I have 42 followers or something on there at the moment lmao. I'm especially interested in finding my mutuals!

I wanted to be characters Lucy Pevensie, and then when I was a little older, I wanted to be Polgara the Sorceress, and then a little older, Kahlan Amnell. From the Chronicles of Narnia, The Belgariad, and The Sword of Truth series, respectively.

heads up, seven up
tagged by @fortunatetragedy, ty!! I won't lie, I did not even count these but it's definitely way more than seven lines lol
"I'll warn you, you're not going to get very far." Orion starts. Behind him, a petite, elderly white woman exits the dining room to join him beside the back door. She wears a smartly tailored pantsuit, though the style is a few decades out of fashion, and a pearl choker. She peers out at the porch and the gardens beyond. "You might be able to make it to the property line, but you needn't bother exerting yourself, Ms. Murphy." She beams—a serene, inviting expression, but Orion is well-versed in practiced smiles. "I'm Adeline's, it's such a pleasure to have you here. I'm afraid you missed breakfast, but why don't you come introduce yourself to your fellow guests? They've waited in the dining room to meet you." Orion glances over her shoulder in the direction she came; every seat at the table stands empty. "I'm not actually a guest. I'm a friend of Madrigal's, she let me stay here last night. I'll be out of your way as soon as possible."
