Authors Convinced Fanfic is Illegal/Requires Permission
Terry Goodkind: “Copyright law dictates that in order for me to protect my copyright, when I find such things, I must go out and hire lawyers to threaten these people to make them stop, and to sue them if they don’t.”
John Scalzi: “Let's remember one fundamental thing about fanfic: Almost all of it is entirely illegal to begin with. It's the wild and wanton misappropriation of copyrighted material”
Diana Gabaldon: “OK, my position on fan-fic is pretty clear: I think it’s immoral, I know it’s illegal, and it makes me want to barf whenever I’ve inadvertently encountered some of it involving my characters.”
Robin Hobb: “Fan fiction is like any other form of identity theft. It injures the name of the party whose identity is stolen.”
Anne Rice: “I do not allow fan fiction. The characters are copyrighted. It upsets me terribly to even think about fan fiction with my characters. I advise my readers to write your own original stories with your own characters. It is absolutely essential that you respect my wishes.”
Anne McCaffrey: “there can be no adventure/stories set on Pern at all!!!!! That's infringing on my copyright and can bear heavy penalties…indiscriminate usage of our characters, worlds, and concepts on a 'public' media like electronic mail constitute copyright infringement AND, which many fans disregard, is ACTIONABLE!”
Chelsea Quinn Yarbro: “No. Absolutely not. It is also against federal law.”
Lynn Flewelling: “Whether you are writing about Seregil or Fox Mulder or Sherlock Holmes, if you do not have legal permission from the author, their estate, or publisher, then you are violating US copyright law. It is creative piracy. Doesn't matter how many disclaimers you put on, or if you're being paid. It. Is. Illegal.”

so I'm rereading the sword of truth series
shout out to wizards first rule kahlan and Richard who are scared of the underworld.
Richard wondered what a wizards rage looked like: the irony
Forgot how slow this book is
Richard: there's no way my brother is a fanatic him outlawing fire isn't a red flag at all. And neither is the fact that he's awful to me. Here's a story about how manipulative and awful he is as proof. Kahlan: ....I'm sure your right.
richard: so this great one has the power to stop darken rahl? Kahlan: who now knows Richard is the seeker: .....no.
That funky fairy: no no he's trying to kill you. You have to seek the truth with in you. It's all about you. Kahlan: shut the fuck up??
I fucking forgot about the weird fucking breeding confessors do.
Kahlan: swinging from 0 oh yes to were just friends definitely not falling in love to 100 I'm going to kill you right here and now over a misunderstanding richard: ....haha Kay cool I'm in love
Forgot zedd is a nudist
Richard: don't be ridiculous zedd isn't magic he's just old and weird and forces me to learn the same stuff. Zedd: very obviously teaching him magic, kahlan zedd every older person who remembers magic : no no he's definitely teaching you magic
Spiderman meme: zedd and Kahlan pointing at each other you're a fucking important dangerous person what are you doing with this person
Listen Richard is pathetic poor little mew mew he spends so much time in this series sick or dying or kidnapped or all of the above
Richard being trained as the chosen one for his entire childhood. His father apologizing every day for the burden he is forcing him to carry. Richard: I don't mind this is fun childhood bonding that will not be relevant at all later :) anyway I'm now convinced that every elder in that town knew who Richard was and were all like ....yes well pretend he's a simple woodsman.
"and how is what you do now any different?" Fucking brutal
Richard felt rather stupid. Girlie pop get fucking use to it you are stupid
I fucking forgot that that Richard's sword has truth carved into the hilt and so Richard has truth carved into his palms
Everybody: it's not our problem you're the seeker you'll find the answer richard: I'm???? A godsdamn??? Woodsman??? Show me the qualifications I have
okay but the quick tone change richard has after he becomes seeker
"There is no secrets here" lmaooooo
Hey yo did Richard know how to use a sword before this??? People want to know
Richard just exciting: helps saves a girl everyone's now pledging to give their life for him

Say what you want about Terry Goodkind but god damn this reunion scene between Richard and Kahlan in Blood of the Fold is one of their best scenes. They haven't seen each other for about 600 pages. I've missed them being together so much😭💗🌸

So, I recently discovered that the term used to describe the hurt/ comfort trope sern in fanfiction and media is called "whump." Well, after browsing tumblr for a while, I finally had the gumption to start a new series of my own. The series I will start with is a Legend of the Seeker/ Sword of Truth fanfiction, shipping Cara and Kahlan. Obviously the original story is not my own. I thought of the idea for this from one of the episodes on the show.

Legend of the Seeker
Kahlan and Cara pt 1.
Cara walked a few feet ahead, pausing to wait for Kahlan. Something was up. Normally, she matched her stride.   A few moments later, Kahlan finally met up with Cara.   Cara spoke, "What's the matter? Do you need to rest?"
"I'm fine. If you need to rest just say so.", Replied Kahlan.
Cara smirked. "Alright, I need to rest."
Kahlan smiled as if relieved. "Good, because my feet hurt."
Her breathing sounded labored, and she leaned against a tree.   She adjusted her weight, taking the wait off of her left leg.   Cara looked at her, puzzled.   "I think it is more than your feet that hurt. Do you honestly think you can hide pain from a mord'sith?"
Kahlan glared at her.   "I told you... I'm fine..."
Cara smirked..."Right, then let's keep moving."
She began walking at a moderate pace.
Kahlan groaned as she struggled to keep up with Cara, she almost had it but then her leg gave out from under her.   Kahlan swore under her breath, holding her leg, she lifted her dress, and cursed quietly but loud enough for Cara to hear.  Cara turned and walked back towards her, kneeling at her side.  "Never try and hide pain from a Mord'sith. There is a reason why some call us maidens of pain. Now, show me." She said in a commanding voice.
Kahlan reluctantly lifted her dress revieling a festering wound.   Cara sighed.  "How long have you been hiding this?"
Kahlan gritted her teeth, applying pressure to her wound. "It was three days ago... when we were attacked.   I didnt say anything so I wouldnt slow us down..."
Cara shook her head.  "It's infected.  If not treated, you will be dead in the next day or two.  Then who will be around to protect your precious Seeker?"
Kahlan groaned in frustration and pain.   "What do you propose?"
Cara smirked.  "It will need to be burned closed,it will kill any infection and staunch any bleeding."
Kahlan winced hearing the woman's icy words. "But we can't make a fire, they will find us."
Cara laughed maliciously, "Who said anything about a fire?"
She drew her agiel, her face beaming with satisfaction, and almost a look of excitement.   "It will hurt."
Kahlan sighed.  "I know, I have felt an agiel before."
Cara was almost grinning.  "Ha! Not like this you haven't."
Without warning she applied the agiel to the open wound while smiling, almost beaming upon knowing that her companion would be in pain.   She knew this would likely be the only time she would be allowed to touch the Mother Confessor in this manner, and she was enjoying every second of it.  Kahlan held back her tears of pain, knowing it was what Cara wanted.  She wanted to show her that she was tough. Beads of sweat formed at her brow from fatigue, fever, tension, and pain. A few moments later, Cara was finished.   Happy with herself, she resheathed her agiel.   "I'm impressed... you did well.  Even the strongest mord'sith would have fainted."
Kahlan smiled weakly, nodding before her skin blanched and she toppled over unconscious.
  "Kahlan!?" Asked Cara.

Yesterday I decided to re-read my favourite chapters from Fizard’s Second Rule and I understood that there’s a huge chance of Kahlan taking a mate if Richard actually died. So, here’s my vision of Kahlan if this had actually happened

Everyone seemed too timid to look directly at him. They glanced for a moment, looked away, then glanced back again, as if his face was not something to be taken in all at once, but sipped at, like a scalding-hot, foul-tasting remedy.
